Credit credentials

A credit credential includes courses with post-secondary credit applied.

These credits will be used towards your specific program and may be accepted towards a credential at SAIT or a different post-secondary institution.

The credit credentials include a bachelor's degree, applied degree, diploma, certificate and post-diploma certificate.

Bachelor Degree

SAIT has bachelor's degree programs in business, construction, and hospitality and tourism management.

Bachelor's degrees are generally four-year programs, but you have up to 10 academic years to complete your courses.

Applied Degree

SAIT's full-time applied degree programs involve one year of study through classes and lab work followed by one year of directed studies in a workplace setting. This builds on the completion of a recognized two-year diploma, which you must have to be admitted to an applied degree program.

You then have seven academic years to finish your applied degree, starting from the day you begin the first course in that program.

At SAIT, over 40 full-time diploma programs cover a broad range of areas, from aircraft maintenance to travel and tourism.

Most diploma programs are completed in two years, though you can take up to seven academic years to complete the requirements.

Certificate

SAIT has several certificate programs in the sciences, health and trades.

These programs provide the essential skills to start a career but are shorter in length than SAIT's diploma programs - usually a year or less. However, you have up to five years to complete your program.

Post-Diploma Certificate

These programs build on skills developed through a diploma or degree program and combine classroom instruction with a workplace practicum.

They are often completed in a year or less.

Journeyperson

A certified journeyperson is recognized as a qualified and skilled person in a trade and is entitled to the wages and benefits associated with that trade. You must complete all apprenticeship periods and pass the exams to earn a journeyperson designation.

Non-credit credentials

A non-credit credential comprises courses and programs designed for professional or personal development.

Because these do not have post-secondary credits attached, they cannot be used towards any of the credentials above. We also cannot guarantee an external institute will accept these courses or credentials for transfer credit.

SAIT's non-credit certificates of achievement and completion are offered through Continuing Education and Professional Studies .

Certificate of Achievement

Certificates of achievement recognize the completion of a program that includes a formal evaluation of performance and a minimum of 144 (required and elective) course hours.

Certificates of achievement typically develop broader, complex skill sets. As of July 1, 2022, you have up to three years to complete the certificate. If you began these programs before July 1, 2022, you still have five calendar years to complete the program from when you began the first course.

Certificate of Completion

Certificates of completion recognize the completion of a program that includes a formal evaluation of performance and a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 143 course hours.

These certificates are shorter in duration than certificates of achievement and offer a focused education program. As of July 1, 2022, you have up to three years to complete the certificate. If you began before July 1, 2022, you will have five calendar years to complete the program from when you began the first course.

Professional Certificate

Program certificates recognize completion of a program that includes the formal evaluation of performance, and that is a minimum of one year in length.

These certificates have program-specific admission requirements.

Micro-credential

A micro-credential recognizes the completion of a non-credit course that includes a formal performance evaluation and verifies you have demonstrated specific competencies.

Micro-credentials focus on the mastery of specific skills. You receive a digital, shareable badge upon completing a SAIT micro-credential (SAITMicro).

Program length

Estimated program length if you study full-time (nine or more credits per semester.) Actual program length will vary based on the number of courses you are registered in and successfully complete per semester.

You must complete your credential within the timeframes listed below:

  • Applied degree: up to seven academic years to complete all courses.
  • Diploma: up to seven academic years to complete all courses.
  • Certificates: up to five academic years to complete all courses.

The location (also known as delivery mode) is where your classes will take place. For programs with multiple locations, some delivery options may not be offered in every intake or semester.

This program accepts international applicants and meets the eligibility criteria for the Post-Graduation Work Permit program as long as the student is enrolled in the on-campus delivery mode or completes more than 50% of the courses on campus (for the blended option).

After an exhaustive search for a suitable job, when I attended the counselling session at NACPT, I realized that this is the place I have been looking for to upgrade my skills in order to establish my career in the Industry. Not only did the college administration facilitate easier fulfillment of the financial requirements but also they offered great flexibility in the schedule making it comfortable to attend all the classes. The college also provided great assistance in finding jobs after completion of the program. I am truly grateful to the director of NACPT and the whole team for their tremendous support, help and guidance which enabled me to go through the hiring process successfully. If you follow this program, it’s really worth it, because we get full knowledge of pharmaceutical industry technical words and procedures. You will shine in your interviews, especially GMP and GDP. I got the information about the NACPT at a job fair. My background is food chemistry, so I learned a lot of information here, especially pharmaceutical technical words and analysis. I am a newcomer to Canada, and a Ph.D. holder. I was a professor back in my country. I came to Canada with a lot of expectations. But, I could not find any related jobs within my profession. Hence, I enrolled in a program provided by NACPT 4 months ago, and am currently working in a leading pharmaceutical company, as a formulator. NACPT provided a lot of help and training for me to get this job. Year 2010.

Camille A. Thorpe M.Sc.

Graduate from GMP and GCP Certificate Program

I like the fact that the program was flexible and class sizes were small. It’s a program you could pursue while working full- or part-time, and it’s very easy to ask questions or get clarifications on issues. I think there are a lot of colleges that don’t really provide the knowledge in exchange for the money invested by students, which makes people wary of attending private colleges. However, I got the knowledge that was promised from NACPT. For new science graduates with no industrial experience, it is helpful to learn about the GMP, GLP etc. standards which are essential to the pharmaceutical industry and are not taught in most university science programs. Year 2010.

Graduate from Pharmaceutical & Bio Pharmaceutical Clinical Research – PG Diploma

It is with great pride that I draft this letter of appreciation to North American Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (NACPT) in acknowledgement of their immense support and guidance from the onset of my training phase to my entry into the pharmaceutical industry. During 2012, I had enrolled in the Pharmaceutical and Bio-pharmaceutical Clinical Research, one of the Post-Degree Diplomas offered at NACPT. The program was designed exceptionally well to accommodate academic teaching with hands-on training experiences, through which I had enriched my understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and all the regulatory bodies that govern it. Each class was conducted by industrial experts who brought interesting insights into current and best practices within the industry. Apart from the quality – hands on training I had attained, NACPT had also helped me get a government grant in support of my work term, and also supplemented with a scholarship of $ 3000. I have also had the opportunity to work at NACPT as a Program Coordinator (co-op position), which allowed me to further strengthen my leadership and interpersonal skills. Most importantly, NACPT had set itself apart by building partnerships with various pharmaceutical companies and inviting them for on-campus hiring. It was truly a great experience and one of the greatest rewards was the number of job opportunities that had come my way upon completion of the program. Last but not the least, NACPT helped me to build confidence and prepared me thoroughly for all the interviews I had to face! As I begin a new journey within the pharmaceutical industry, I will cherish each memorable moment at NACPT for a lifetime! My hearty thanks to the dean of the department and all the instructors once again for all that you have done to help me begin a new chapter in my life. Year 2012.

The college has industrial experts as professors allowing the students to be up-to-date and current on the subject matter. NACPT helped me find a career through the program which included additional job assistance, sessions on resume building, interview skills, and social media updates. Year 2015.

I was intrigued by the Career Orientation Seminar which they were providing and decided to attend. The decision to attend this seminar changed my life. After meeting the staff and professors at NACPT I knew that this was an opportunity to learn from industry experts and gain essential information about the pharmaceutical industry. From the moment I arrived at NACPT as a new student I knew this college was different due to the individualized attention given to each student, the wealth of industry knowledge each professor provided and professionalism of the learning environment. The staff and professors were always welcoming and accommodating to my schedule as I was commuting from Kitchener. After graduating and participating in the NACPT Job Development Program, which helped me update my resume and interview skills, I was presented with many more job opportunities for employment. I would recommend this college to anyone looking to gain current and relevant skills training within the pharmaceutical industry. NACPT is truly a one of a kind learning environment. Year 2013.

I joined NACPT as a student this year and enrolled in a course titled “Industrial Pharmaceutical & Bio-Pharmaceutical Modern Technology”. It is an excellent program for students who wish to enter the pharma industry and professionals who are already serving the pharma industry. The main reason being that this program content is very carefully tailored to cater the needs of the pharma industry. It covers GMP, GLP, Validation (process, cleaning, packaging), Regulatory Affairs, Technical writing and important techniques such as GC & HPLC. I love this program, as it covers almost all the aspects of the pharma industry. All the instructors are stalwarts of the pharma industry and they teach the essential needs of the industry. Moreover, hands-on training is provided on important techniques (GC, HPLC). I strongly recommend NACPT for students & professionals to choose the required course program and wish them a good future in their careers. Year 2017.

I thank God I enrolled into Clinical Research under the guidance of NACPT’s director and all the qualified instructors. Every one of them was so supportive both in academics and career paths. An additional unique advantage at NACPT was that the classes were intimate and hence easy to relate to each other as students and more to our instructors. I first came across NACPT at a career college fair while attending university. In my last year of completing B.Sc, I obtained early acceptance to NACPT with a scholarship. This school stood out to me because of the many types of programs they offered which cover multiple areas of the pharmaceutical industry. After completing my Bachelor of Science at University of Waterloo, I came straight to North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology. I had a lot of uncertainty about my future. However, the instructors at North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology were very welcoming and approachable. I strongly believe the coaching and guidance I received here not be comparable to other schools. The one-on-one coaching and availability of instructors for extra hours was very useful in learning the course material. The instructors were all industrial experts, with years of pharmaceutical working experience and were very compassionate about passing their knowledge onto fresh minds. I worked closely with the school for job assistance and interview preparation. I got two interviews through North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology which refined my interview skills and they allowed me to use their name for reference purposes. Plus, I appreciated the $2000 scholarship and the financial assistance I received from North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology. With the practical knowledge I gained here, I can surely say that now I am prepared to achieve success and build a career on my own, Year 2011.
