Palace of Fine Arts Theatre 3301 Lyon Street San Francisco, CA 94123

Get Directions

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and follow signs indicating Downtown San Francisco. Stay to the left and take the Marina exit; you’ll see the sign overhead. While you might be tempted to take a right at the first stop light (Lyon Street) and pull directly into the Palace of Fine Arts, pass the Lyon Street entrance and proceed straight on Marina Boulevard. Then:

  • Right on Baker Street
  • Left on Jefferson Street
  • Left on Broderick Street
  • Left on Marina Boulevard, then immediately move into the right lane
  • Turn right on Yacht Road and follow signs for Palace of Fine Arts parking (lot is next to the St. Francis Yacht Club).
  • Or continue on Marina onto Mason Street. The alternate parking lot will be on your left (see map). Please note that there is a walkway from this lot to the back of the main Theatre lot.

NOTE: Avoid bearing left on Marina Boulevard; that stretch of Marina Boulevard turns into an onramp for Highway 101 and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you inadvertently end up on the approach to the Bridge, don’t worry; you’ll have a chance to exit to the right just before the toll plaza. You can then make your way back to the Palace of Fine Arts through the Presidio or retry the directions from above.

Cross the Bay Bridge. Follow the signs to the 9th Street exit. Stay in the right-hand lane. Go one block and turn right onto 9th Street. Stay in the left-hand lane. Immediately after Market Street, veer left onto Hayes Street. Then:

  • Right on Van Ness Avenue (look for signs to the Golden Gate Bridge)
  • Left on Lombard Street; once on Lombard, get into the right-hand lane
  • Right on Divisadero Street

NOTE: Avoid bearing left on Marina Boulevard; that stretch of Marina Boulevard turns into an onramp for Highway 101 and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you inadvertently end up on the approach to the Bridge, don’t worry; you’ll have a chance to exit to the right just before the toll plaza. You can then make your way back to the Palace of Fine Arts through the Presidio, or use the directions “From the North Bay,” above.

From Highway 101

Take Highway 101 North to the Market Street/Van Ness exit. Take Van Ness to Lombard (look for signs to the Golden Gate Bridge). Turn left onto Lombard. Once on Lombard, get into the right-hand lane. Then:

  • Turn right on Yacht Road and follow signs for Palace of Fine Arts parking (lot is next to the St. Francis Yacht Club). If you pass the lot, you’ll see signs on the right for additional parking at Crissy Field.

From Interstate 280

Follow 19th Avenue through Golden Gate Park; 19th Avenue becomes Park Presidio Boulevard on the other side of the Park. Follow signs for the Highway 101 Detour. Then:

  • Right on Geary Boulevard
  • Left on Van Ness Avenue, move into left lanes
  • Left on Lombard Street, get into the right-hand lane

The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre has convenient access to public transportation. We are accessible by San Francisco Muni buses #30, #43, #28, and #29. Muni bus lines #22, #41, and #45 also stop in the vicinity. From Fisherman’s Wharf take the #30 Stockton bus. For more information, call Muni at (415) 673-6864 or check the SFMTA trip planner.

If you’re taking BART, get off at the Montgomery Street station, walk one half-block up Market Street to Third Street, and catch the #30 Stockton bus on the corner.

Virtually all downtown-bound Golden Gate Transit buses stop nearby the Theatre. Ask your driver for directions or call Golden Gate Transit Information at 511 (toll-free) or 415-455-2000 (outside the Bay Area).

RuPaul's Drag Race star Alyssa Edwards launches Life, Love & Lashes tour

Alyssa Edwards

Hailed as the “sickening queen supreme” by The Times, RuPaul’s Drag Race sensation Alyssa Edwards will embark on a cross-country US tour spanning from Los Angeles to New York City – with 26 cities in between. Entitled the Life, Love and Lashes Tour , this one-diva show is a non-stop adrenaline spectacle – pulling back the velvet curtain to reveal Alyssa’s most intimate secrets.

Following her sold out, critically acclaimed stint at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s historic West End last year, Alyssa promises “longer lashes, bigger wigs and louder tongue pops” in this expanded, reimagined extravaganza launching at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

“This is a side of her that you have never seen before,” said show producer Murray Hodgson. “We wanted to take the audience on a legendary theatrical journey - touching every arc of the rainbow that is the life of Alyssa. What she delivers on that stage is pure magic, and her fans will be left both shocked and inspired.”

Slated as a “love letter from Alyssa,” the show chronicles her yellow brick road to fame, laced with intimate anecdotes of a young boy with big dreams to the adventures of a budding superstar, and every glitter-filled moment in-between spanning across her 25-year career.

The 90-min show is a comedic and campy recital — packed with audacious reveals, gag-worthy costume changes and powerhouse performances by the “Dancing Queen” and her troupe of bodacious backup dancers.

Presale begins on Thursday, March 10th at 10:00 am ET, followed by general ticket sales on Friday, March 11th at 10:00 am ET. For more information visit www.dragfans.com .

WhistlePig and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Wind Tunnel-Trialed Whiskey Is a Ryed You Don’t Want to Miss

SHOREHAM, VT (September 13, 2023) — WhistlePig Whiskey , the leaders in independent craft whiskey, and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake are waving the checkered flag on a legend-worthy release that’s taking whiskey to G-Force levels. The Limited Edition PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is a high Rye Whiskey selected by the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake drivers, with barrels trialed in their wind tunnel to ensure a thrilling taste in every sip.

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

Like Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s signature C43 racing vehicles, trial barrels were tested in the team’s wind tunnel in Switzerland before hitting the track. Select barrels then endured varying levels of G-Forces at the WhistlePig farm and distillery for the finishing touch, accelerating the interaction between the whiskey and the wood, staying true to the physical nature of Formula 1.

“Partnering with WhistlePig has been a very exciting experience. Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake is dedicated to being the best on the track, and the crew at WhistlePig is fearless in their pursuit to create the best whiskey out there,” said Valtteri Bottas, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s driver. “We’re really looking forward to fans tasting our custom Rye Whiskey and raising a glass to the rookies, veterans, legends and the exhilarating sport of F1.”

"Joining forces with WhistlePig to release a Single Barrel Rye Whiskey that represents my culture and team has been an honor,” said Zhou Guanyu, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s driver. “Formula 1 brings together fearless, thrill-seeking motorsports professionals, and WhistlePig has a shared passion for boundary-pushing innovation. Together, we’ve selected something alarmingly good for fans to enjoy this season when the cars are not on track.”

The Limited Edition Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel will be available for purchase online starting around September 13 for $49.99 MSRP per 750ml bottle and sold in select stores across the U.S. Consumers can win VIP merchandise by scanning the QR code on the back of each bottle.

"We're taking our third Legends Series release on a ryed like never before,” said Meghan Ireland, WhistlePig Head Blender. "Our experiments with dynamic aging went full throttle during finishing trials at the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake wind tunnel, in turn inspiring new ways to expose barrels to G-forces back at the WhistlePig Farm. The herbal and floral notes of the lychee and tea barrel selected with the team create a new, podium-topping experience for PiggyBack Rye."

Fans and collectors have followed WhistlePig PiggyBack Legends Series, celebrating those who give 100% in the name of greatness, since its launch in March 2022 with Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, David Ortiz (“Big Papi”), followed by Country Music Duo Brothers Osborne in November 2022.

5 Things You Need to Know About Hormone Therapy From an Lgbtq+ Nurse Practitioner

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare , so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.

If you don’t have a primary care physician who specializes in LGBTQ+ care in your community, you may need to educate yourself (and your provider). But, before you seek such therapy, here are five things you should know!

  • Monitor closely. At Spectrum Medical Care Center , we screen patients for certain risks before starting anyone on hormones. We frequently monitor patients in the first year to ensure there are no adverse reactions and lab results are within safe ranges. Follow-up care is also important to assess your comfort with the transition as well as the social impact and social support you’re experiencing.
  • Some changes are permanent, some temporary. For transmasculine individuals going on testosterone, they’ll experience these permanent changes: deepened voice, clitoral enlargement (also known as bottom growth), more body, facial hair, and male pattern baldness. Reversible changes include cessation of menses, increased muscle mass and strength, body fat redistribution, and skin oiliness or acne. For those going on estrogen therapy, the most permanent change is breast growth. Feminizing hormone therapy can also cause atrophy (shrinkage) of the genitals and loss of erectile function that may not be reversible. Estrogen will thin body hair, soften the skin, can increase scalp hair, and decrease muscle mass and strength, all of which are reversible.
  • You can’t pick and choose results. Unfortunately, you can’t pick and choose the physical changes you want, which may feel challenging. Some of my patients will say, ‘ Okay, ‘I’ve seen the permanent changes I want, and I don’t want it to go any further, ’ and so at that point, we stop therapy. Low-dose hormone therapy can slow down the rate of changes, allowing for a more gradual physical transition. We counsel patients in advance about the common changes, and it’s up to the individual as to when they’d like to scale back and determine whether some benefits are worth the potential risks.
  • Be aware of risks. Like any medical treatment, there are potential risks involved. Some risks with testosterone therapy include increased red blood cell mass, acne, hypertension, sleep apnea, weight gain, and dyslipidemia (increases the chance of clogged arteries). Cardiovascular disease is likely increased with additional risk factors for testosterone and estrogen therapy. Transfeminine patients going on estrogen therapy may experience weight gain, thromboembolic disease (when a blood clot breaks off and blocks another blood vessel), and a high level of triglycerides in the blood.

Descanso Resort Awarded 2023 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best

Descanso Resort swimming pool and lounge area

Descanso Resort, Palm Springs' premier destination for gay men, just received Tripadvisor's highest honor, a Travelers' Choice "Best of the Best" award for 2023. Based on guests' reviews and ratings, fewer than 1% of Tripadvisor's 8 million listings around the world receive the coveted "Best of the Best" designation. Descanso ranked 12th in the top 25 small inns and hotels category in the United States. Quite an accomplishment!

Open less than two years, Descanso Resort offers gay men a relaxing and luxurious boutique hotel experience just minutes away from Palm Springs' buzziest restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping. Descanso has quickly established itself as a top destination for sophisticated gay travelers, earning hundreds of 5-star guest reviews and consistently ranking in Trapadvisor's top positions alongside brother properties Santiago Resort and Twin Palms Resort .

"Our entire team is honored to be named Best of the Best. To be the only gay men's resort recognized in the Top 1% is incredibly humbling," said Kent Taylor, General Manager at Descanso. "We appreciate Tripadvisor and we're grateful to all our guests who gave us such high marks and reviews to help us reach this achievement."

“Ranking among the Best of the Best demonstrates that you have provided exemplary experiences to those who maZer most: your guests,” said John Boris, Chief Growth Officer at Tripadvisor. “With changing expectations, continued labor shortages, and rising costs, this is no easy feat, and I am con6nually impressed with the hospitality industry’s resilience and ability to adapt.”

Santiago Resort was once again honored by Tripadvisor with a 2023 Travelers’ Choice award, placing it among the top 10% of travelers’ top reviewed des6na6ons. Twin Palms will become eligible for ranking in 2024.

Check out all the reviews, and discover more about Descanso Resort on Tripadvisor here. We have an excellent library of resort imagery available to accompany editorial and additional resources on our press page. Please contact Descanso Resort’s General Manager, Kent Taylor, at [email protected] for further information.

Alyssa Edwards, CJ, and Grocery Store Joe Step Way Out of Their Comfort Zones on 'The GOAT' [Interview]

The ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ ‘FBoy Island,’ and ‘Bachelor’ alums spoke with Collider about their experience on ‘The GOAT.’

The Big Picture

  • Freevee's The GOAT is a hilarious reality show with diverse contestants from various genres.
  • Reality TV stars like Justin, CJ, and Joe found The GOAT's challenges different and had to adjust.
  • Forming alliances and stepping out of comfort zones are vital to succeed in The GOAT's unique competition style.

Freevee’s new reality TV series, The GOAT , is arguably the funniest new reality series in the past decade. The premise? Ridiculous. The casual religious imagery ? Brilliant. And the best part of all is that the reality stars featured in it come from every genre possible. Similarly to another game-themed competition series, The Traitors , everyone in the cast comes from a different reality series . There is, of course, a contingency of gamers from The Challenge , Big Brother , and Survivor to be reckoned with , but there are also contestants from cooking shows, dating shows, and, of course, Bravo.

That is precisely what makes The GOAT so fun to watch . Seeing fan favorites doing ridiculous challenges while being heckled by Daniel Tosh is incredibly engaging. The series does not take itself seriously at all. In fact, it’s safe to say that the show does the exact opposite of that, which is precisely why it’s fun. It even provides the verbal altercations Bravo fans have learned to love and hate. The cast itself is incredibly impressive , and Collider had the opportunity to speak with Justin Johnson, aka Alyssa Edwards, CJ Franco, and Joe Amabile about their experience and how they approached the competition.

The GOAT (2024)

Prior reality tv experience didn’t do much for these three players on ‘the goat’.

Justin, CJ, and Joe all came from a series that in no way prepared them for the challenges of being on The GOAT . CJ, from FBoy Island , said: “They just gave Daniel Tosh a house of reality stars competing for the title of the GOAT, the greatest of all time. But what we're really just trying to do is not get our egos hurt , and Tosh is just there to roast us.”

Jenn Fessler Is the MVP of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'

Joe, aka Grocery Store Joe from The Bachelor , added to CJ’s comment, saying: “I think, coming from a dating show, it is very different than a competition show . I will say the filming hours kind of prep you for what you could expect on a competition show. But there is a social aspect to the game, and there's alliances that are formed. So, you have to pick up very quickly, or you'll probably get eliminated.”

Justin may know a little more about the importance of forming alliances from his stint on Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars , but it was nowhere near as intense in comparison to The GOAT . “Coming from Drag Race , yes, it is a competition show. But, you know, Ru is going to be deeming who is in the bottom, and on my All Star season , when we did have to vote, I felt like as a group collectively, we're all like, ‘Okay, who was the weakest in today's challenge? Try to be fair.’ I think the challenges in this can't be unhinged series are just a formality,” Justin said, adding, “Because, at the end of the day, if the numbers aren't on your side, if you don't have the alliances coming for you; you could have them on Monday, but then Tuesday is a whole new day.”

Justin, CJ, and Joe Had to Surrender on ‘The GOAT’

Alliances are key to winning a game like this, and this is something the gamers have an understanding of. The skills needed to become The GOAT forced them all to think strategically in a way they hadn’t before . Justin said: “You're living with complete strangers sleeping on a twin bed, um, being filmed around the clock, diving into mud and all of these obstacles that you don't know if they're going to be a physical challenge, a mental challenge, or is it just luck? You know, that is the challenge within itself.”

CJ, on the other hand, assumed that she would not do well in the competition. She said: “I thought I was just going to go right home. So my challenge was, you know, having to re-wear outfits.” Joe, on the other hand, said that his biggest challenge was his own game. “I think I was my own competition. It was just kind of not getting in my own way.” Joe shared, adding, “I was like, ‘Oh, what am I gonna have to do on this show? How much am I gonna embarrass myself? This is a comedy, but am I the comedy?’ So I would say, yeah, just not getting in my own way.” Being on The GOAT certainly does take a lot of guts, so it makes sense that Joe focused on himself in addition to the game itself.

To hear more about Justin, CJ, and Joe’s experience on The GOAT , watch the full interview with Collider above.

New episodes of The GOAT are available to stream weekly on Thursdays on Freevee via Amazon Prime . Those without streaming access can mark their calendars for its TV premiere on Monday, June 3, 2023, at 9 PM ET, on FOX.

Dom Amore: As UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards returns to CT, her new WNBA grind is just beginning

U NCASVILLE — There have been a few moments when it hit Aaliyah Edwards . There was the night in Brooklyn when her name was called. There was her first day at Washington Mystics camp, when she called out “red line” and Stefanie Dolson told her that’s not the terminology used by her new coaches.

“She’s kind of like the ‘Mama Bear’ of the team,” Edwards said.

And there was Tuesday night, when she checked in to replace Dolson to make her WNBA debut, and soon found herself guarding Breanna Stewart .

It hit her. Basketball is still Aaliyah Edwards’ game, but now it’s also her job. She may be a ‘Husky for life,’ but she is no longer at UConn.

Dom Amore: How Caitlin Clark’s WNBA debut turned into Alyssa Thomas’ party for CT Sun

“Thank God for me graduating, patting myself on the back for that one,” she said Friday after the her new team, the Mystics, completed their shootaround at Mohegan Sun Arena . “Balancing academics and basketball was tough, definitely a challenge. Now, I’m taking on a new challenge when I can just focus on my work, my 9-to-5 job, so it’s pretty cool.”

Of course, the life of a pro basketball player is more like shooting the rock around the clock. This is a new kind of grind, and Edwards is largely on her own, but everywhere she turns, she’ll find former Huskies to help point her in the right direction.

The Mystics selected Edwards with the sixth pick in the draft, shortly after her UConn career ended in the NCAA semifinals. They brought in Dolson, 32,  the veteran former Husky, to help break Edwards in at the center position, where she’ll have to contend with players like Stewart, the reigning MVP, four-time national camp at UConn, who anchors the New York Liberty.

On Friday morning, Edwards ran up from behind to throw her arms around Olivia Nelson-Ododa, who was her teammate for two seasons at UConn, and is now with the CT Sun.

“She’s grown up now,” Nelson-Ododa said. “It’s crazy to see her at this level. I’m so excited, though, because you obviously knew she was going to be a pro.”

Edwards, 6 feet 3, played 14 minutes, getting six points, two rebounds as the Mystics lost her first game. They were in Connecticut to play the Sun on Friday night, where Edwards expected her parents to come down from Kingston, Ontario. Many of her recent college teammates are home for the summer, but she was sure to receive a warm welcome on the court on which, as she sat out with a broken nose, UConn won the Big East Tournament two months ago.

“The biggest change, going in I knew about the independence aspect of it,” Edwards said. “I’ll be talking with Nika (Muhl, now with Seattle) and, oh, we don’t have pregame together as a team. When are we going to breakfast together? Court time is really what we do together as a team. But this (Washington) team is super special to me, a lot of personalities, they’ve been taking me under their wing.”

As all the rookies, including the much-anticipated Caitlin Clark are learning, The W is not a place where you just go in and pick up where you left off in March Madness.

“The best advice I’ve gotten is, find something that’s your niche, something the team needs and stick to that,” said Nelson-Ododa, whose fourth-year option was picked up by the Sun this week, an indication she has established herself on a team full of veterans. “Especially when you’re younger, they need players who can go in and do little things. Even if you’re not scoring 25-30 points, that’s okay, just do the little things.”

That was Nelson-Ododa’s message to Edwards, 21, who averaged 18.3 points and 9.7 rebounds as a senior at UConn. It’s a different grind now. Having played 33 games between November and April, Edwards has now embarked on the 40-game WNBA season, with eight games in the first 17 days, through May 31. She’ll be asked to speak to reporters up to three times on game days, and many of the practices.

“My whole process going through training camp was, don’t take anything for granted,” Edwards said. “I had to earn everything. I tried to take the approach that every drill, every practice like it’s your last because nothing is guaranteed. This league has 144 spots, we’re expanding, we’re growing, but nothing is guaranteed.”

UConn women’s basketball players in the WNBA: Will Nika Muhl, Aaliyah Edwards make rosters as rookies?

At UConn’s Werth Center, there is a red line on the court that separates which side a player should be on defensively, and associate head coach Chris Dailey’s constant call, “red line, red line” was still in Edwards’ ear when she started with Washington. That’s where Dolson came in, reminding her they call out “rim, rim,” instead.

“The first couple of practices, I was saying ‘red line,’ what CD would be telling me in practice,” Edwards said. “And Stef is like, ‘No, no, Aaliyah, we don’t say that terminology here.’ She knows, coming from college to The W is a big adjustment. She’s been super helpful.”

So there is that much. The UConn alums are like a league within the league, with Edwards and Muhl joining this season. Aaliyah Edwards is no longer a college student, but still there is much to learn about the life of a professional, and always a hungry youngster or desperate veteran waiting in the wings to take one of those 144 spots. Edwards is steeled, and focuses on this new kind of grind just beginning.

“The IQ, I always want to be on point with it,” Edwards said. “Especially in this league, a  lot of things happen, a lot of schemes you’re faced with in 40 minutes, so you always have to be on top of it, always have to be prepared. So I watch a lot of film. I kind of got that growing up watching Kobe (Bryant), he was always about mental toughness, about being mentally prepared as well as physically prepared. Every experience I’ve been through, college, national team and here, you always want to be a student of the game, first and foremost.”
