7 Ultimate Sing-Along Songs for Your Barkada’s Road Trip

Written By:

September 29, 2014

Road Trip

You dearly love music, your barkada, and especially road trips —but don’t admit that you love the adventure more than your friends. You’ll be dead before the next U-turn! So what better way to celebrate your love for the two than to have a super, duper, mega, awesome, ultra, cool, bongga , bonanza road trip somewhere down the road?

Give the old u-bolt a changing, and the gas, oil, and water a filling up. Go get your friends some chips, and get them in their comfy road trip attires, because you’re all going. Oh, and don’t forget to sharpen those vocal chords; you wouldn’t want to go screeching like a hungry piglet, would you? Unless of course that’s your style. If so, then by all means, own it!

No sing-along playlist would be complete without these seven catchy tunes, so be sure to go straight to iTunes once your reach the end of the list!

“Don’t Stop Me Now” (Queen)

Granted, it’s speaking about what you feel: that you’re up to have a good time. But that’s not all the song expresses. It’s telling the world that you’re an awesome living being who has the best taste in music. And for your friends to sing this with you means that you’re the most rockin’ barkada to watch out for, and even to join!

With this song in your road trip sing-along, nothing will dare stop you—especially since you’re travellin’ at the speed of light, Mr. Fahrenheit.

“Danza Kuduro” (Don Omar)

You loved this one when it first came out, especially when it played at the end of “Fast and Furious 6”… Yeah, now you remember.

You don’t even know the lyrics, but it’s fun to make up the words all the way—both the song and the highway. Don’t you agree? The song’s fun beat also allows for a good air drum exercise for you and the guys!

 “Ironic” (Alanis Morisette)

Right? Right?

This is a song good for any road trip day, really. It’s good for a rainy day, your wedding day, or just when your friends want a free ride. It’s a good advice, so take it! You’ll later realize that it figures.

But whatever the occasion, you know that your ultimate motive for singing this song is that you can play as Alanis Morisettes going wild in your car. And come on, they don’t care if you can’t sing, Mr. Play It Safe. Don’t be afraid to fly!

“Highway to Hell” (AC/DC)

Since you’re not yet over the feeling that you own the road, you have another song that expresses what your sudden rockin’ bad boy persona feels. Sing this with such intensity that your minions on the passenger seats, those who’ve been subdued by your magic, would have no choice but to sing along. Get ready to paint towns red.

“Royals” Lorde

Many of us adore Lorde. Some share her ideals while everyone dreams to share her voice. Your barkada agrees, especially since you’re the royals of the world today. You’re just really being humble by chanting Lorde’s words. Am I Right? Because that Cadillac surely didn’t come from your dream!

“Walking in a Dream” (Empire of the Sun)

Since you’re always running for the thrill of it, Empire of the Sun’s electric tune is one of your road trip anthems. It has to be, or you don’t know music as much as we earlier reckoned.

Plus, come on, doesn’t this trip just seem surreal? As if you’re walking in a dream and you have to wake up? Well, you have to wake up, not just because you’re driving, but because you have to get in on the singing!

“A Thousand Miles” (Vanessa Carlton)

Bring on the feels!

This may be the ultimate road trip song, because it feels like you’ve gone a thousand miles in your road trip, when it has only been a few kilometers. And you even wish that time would pass you by. It’s just too fun to end. And it may not even be the original version you’re singing, because most of the time, it’s the White Chicks version that the barkada has in mind.

Go and feel the thrill of your super awesome barkada road trip, especially with the added spice of these songs. Don’t forget to be safe though; take care of your passengers—and your troat!

barkada trip song

barkada trip kiko machine Lyrics

The song "Barkada Trip" by Kiko Machine is a fun-filled ode to the joy and camaraderie of hanging out with friends. The lyrics describe a group of friends who are hungry and looking for something to do. They are brainstorming ideas for a fun outing and suggest playing basketball or playing a game of Trip to Jerusalem. However, they can't decide on what to do, and the situation turns a bit tense as they start arguing. Despite the disagreement, the chorus reminds us that no matter what happens, it's the journey with friends that really matters in the end.

The lyrics are relatable and capture the essence of fun-filled, carefree times with friends. The song's catchy melody, coupled with its upbeat and lively rhythm, provides the perfect atmosphere to reminisce about the good old times. The repetition of the phrase "barkada trip" throughout the song reinforces the message of ultimate friendship.

The lyrics of the song have a deeper meaning than just a fun outing with friends. It also encourages the listeners to cherish and celebrate the art of forming and maintaining friendships. The song reminds us that in a world filled with uncertainties, the love and support of good friends can go a long way.

Umaga na pala It's already morning.

Meron ka bang alam na pwede nating gawin? Do you know something we can do?

Malay ko sa'yo I don't know.

Basta't kami ngayon kumakain ng liso We're just eating 'liso' right now.

Makisama naman kayo Come with us.

Nag-iisip na nga ng trip We're thinking of doing something fun.

Para sa atin ito This is for us.

Pagpasensyahan nyo na kami Please bear with us.

Di kasi kumain simula kagabi We haven't eaten since last night.

Mag-basketball kaya (ano?) How about playing basketball?

Seryoso ka ba Are you serious?

Eh ba't nga sila? Why not them?

Ba't di na lang trip to jerusalem? Why not play trip to jerusalem instead?

Ewan ko ba sa iyo I don't know about you.

Wala tong hapong biro, seryoso ito. This is not a joke, it's serious.

Ang lakas mo namang mag trip You enjoy messing with us.

Gusto banag mapalo kita sa puwit... I want to spank you.

Laugh trip bad trip food trip field trip We're having different kinds of trips - laughing, bad, food, field, etc.

Sad trip laugh trip... barkada trip! We're experiencing both sadness and laughter on this trip with our friends.

First trip round trip bad trip di ko trip We've had our first trip, round trip, some bad trips, and some that I didn't like.

Go go power trip... barkada trip! We're having a 'power trip' with our group of friends.

Barkada trip! (4x) This is a trip with our barkada/friends!

Backpack ballpen medyas leather tuwalya Just a list of items, nothing significant.

Teka, wala kang brief! Wait, you're not wearing underwear!

Bad trip sound trip... barkada trip We've experienced some bad trips and some sound trips, but hey, we're still enjoying our barkada trip.

8 Barkada Road Trip Essentials

  • Posted on Jul 18, 2017 May 28, 2021
  • 3 minute read

Jul 18, 2017   •   8List

There is nothing like going on a road trip to anywhere with the barkada. It’s the ultimate #squadgoals! But just like any other outing with anyone else, it’s bound to go down in flames if you don’t plan ahead. So if you’re scheduling a road trip soon, here are just a few of the things you should remember to bring to make the trip as stress-free as possible!

Pillows and blankets

Long rides with the barkada is amazing at first thought because nothing’s better than being around fun company. But when you start your trip early or spend too long a time cooped up inside a car, you can expect the whole ride to be uncomfortable. Stay cozy (or catch up on sleep) by bringing with you travel-sized pillows and comfy blanket!

Travel snacks

Trust us: you’re not going to want to be surrounded by hungry, cranky people. Keep everyone in the group happy and well-fed with some snacks! Stop by a 7-eleven or a supermarket before setting out — it’ll keep you guys alive for the time being.

A Road Trip Playlist

The best part of road trips is always the music! Make a travel playlist beforehand with all your barkada’s favorite songs from then ‘til now to keep the energy up the entire ride. And please, don’t dare to leave out Pepsi’s own Roadtrip song. Download it here

First Aid Kit

If there’s anything you should have picked up from those road trip horror movies, it’s that you’ll never know what might happen. Okay, don’t get too paranoid! Just be safe than sorry and pack a simple first aid kit for emergencies! Pro-tip: divide the first aid essentials among the group for easier packing.

Travel Games

Beat the road trip boredom by bringing along some travel-friendly games. A deck of cards or travel-sized boardgames will keep you all entertained during your ride or while you’re at stopovers!

Of course, you’re going to need to document your memories! Who knows when you’re all going to meet up to do this again in the near future? Bring your camera and use it to immortalize all those fun and unforgettable moments.

A Powerbank

Being on the road most of the time means that you won’t have any power source around to keep your gadgets alive. A dead phone won’t do you any good, especially not when you’re playing your road trip jams on Spotify, or posting Instagram stories every 10 minutes, or livetweeting every single highlight of the trip as they happen. Keep a fully-charged powerbank with you at all times!

Refreshments

Sino mas trip niyong maka roadtrip? @ImDanielPadilla and the Lady Spikers? O @nicobolzico & the croptops este @bloggerjowas ? #pepsidriveoke pic.twitter.com/JqPqxGVkCZ — Pepsi Philippines (@pepsiphl) June 7, 2017

And most importantly, you all got to stay cool. Fill your cooler with some refreshing drinks so when thirst strikes any time during the trip, you can just pop it open and quench yourself! Our top pick? Pepsi — guaranteed to keep you cool and refreshed for the entire duration of the trip!

The perfect Eraserheads soundtrack to make your next barkada get-together complete

  • BY AJT Santos
  • September 5, 2016

barkada trip song

There is a well-established relationship between music and memory. Some songs instantly trigger vivid recollections of memories we associate with them, whether it’s your first kiss or that time you and your barkada went on that unforgettably epic road trip.

For a lot of people who grew up in the 90s all the way to the early-noughts, the Eraserheads’ music was the soundtrack that defined a generation. Their songs have become part of Pinoy pop culture canon and have been ingrained in our collective psyche that mere snippets of their songs evoke feelings of nostalgia.

Every time we meet up with friends, there are topics and stories that are sure to surface no matter what. Your barkada reunion is not complete without talking about them. After all, nothing bonds people together like the experiences you’ve shared.

"Minsan sa may Kalayaan tayo'y nagkatagpuan, may mga sariling gimik at kanya-kanyang hangad sa buhay."

No get-together session is complete without reminiscing about the good ol’ days . Some of the best days of our lives are in our youth, with our friends. You might not see each other that often anymore, but when you get together, it’s as if the years get compressed and you’re back to where you left off.

"Gagawin ko ang lahat pati ang thesis mo, ‘wag mo lang ipagkait ang hinahanap ko."

When reminiscing about the good ol’ days, the topic will inevitably veer to past relationships. Someone will almost always bring up the topic with “Remember *insert name of ex- here* ?” This is almost always followed by all the cheesy things you’ve done, and some clever social media stalking to see what they’re up to now. Ahh, to be young and in love.

"O pare ko, meron ka bang maipapayo? Kung wala ay okay lang. Kailangan lang ay, ang iyong pakikiramay. Andito ka ay ayos na."

We all have that one friend who’s always been there for us, no matter what. For anyone who has ever relied on a buddy to pull you through tough times, whether it’s relationship problems, strict parents, or finishing your thesis 5 minutes before the submission deadline, you now laugh at how naive you were when you thought getting that failing grade in Algebra was the end of your world.

4. OVERDRIVE

"Mag-da-drive ako hanggang Baguio. Mag-da-drive ako hanggang Bicol. Mag-da-drive ako hanggang Batangas, tapos magsu-swimming do’n, sa beach."

Road trips are some of the most memorable times in anyone’s life. The freedom of the open road, driving down the highway with the windows down, and the anticipation of arriving at your destination will forever be etched in your memories.

5. SEMBREAK

"Sana ay may pasok na, para at least meron akong baon."

Few things in a young person’s life are as exciting as the last day of school. Knowing that you have several weeks of absolute freedom from homework, quizzes, and your professors, is something every teenager looks forward to. You have to admit, though, as much as you enjoy the break between semesters / school year, you also find yourself looking forward to coming back to school a couple of weeks in, and hanging out with your friends again.

"Iba na ang ‘yong tingin, iba na ang ‘yong ngiti, nagbago nang lahat sa ‘yo."

Every batch has that one (or two, or three, depending on your school) person who either becomes a full-on celebrity or, at the very least, hit semi-celebrity status after graduating. The surprising thing is, a lot of the time, it’s not the most popular kid in school but the nondescript guy (or girl) sitting in the back who makes the cut after graduation.

7. POORMAN’S GRAVE

"I’m gonna use up all the money that I saved, coz I don’t wanna lie in a poor man’s grave."

Quarter-life crisis — we’ve all been there. The feeling that your life is going nowhere and you’re dreading the future. It sometimes leaves you wondering “How did our parents do it?” You look back fondly at those times and you smile at your past worries, because somehow, you got through it.

8. ANG HULING EL BIMBO

"Magkahawak ang ating kamay, at walang kamalay-malay… na tinuruan mo ang puso ko, na umibig na tunay."

For some, nostalgia goes hand in hand with memories of unrequited love. Regrets about what we could’ve/should’ve/would’ve done — but never did. For a lot of people, this circles back to that one person who was perfect for you but got away, simply because the time wasn’t right. Today we call it hugot . Or if you’re a younger millennial, the #feels .

9. WALANG NAGBAGO

"Kung ano tayo noon, ay gano’n pa rin ngayon."

At some point in the middle of your get-together with friends, you will realize that despite being a little bit older, a little bit chubbier, and a little bit more worldly, at the very core of it, you’re all still the same people you were when you were younger. Nothing’s changed. And that’s why you’re all still complete and together.

Five tips for your next barkada trip

MANILA, Philippines –  Trips are always fun, but the planning? Not so much.

Turning your dream vacation from drawing   stage to actual reality can be daunting and stress-inducing – logistics, malabong group chats,  ubusan ng  tickets, biglang nawawalang  passport, and sudden budget probs, among other unreliable factors.

The good news is though that most of these factors can be avoided – all you need to do is start early and be prepared.

Here are 5 pre-planning travel tips for you and your jet-setting  barkada:

Start. Early.

Why wait for the chaos of peak season to start planning? As early as possible, get a solid travel plan going.

Answer these questions:

  • Which of your non-flaker friends are game? (Game as in confirmed na confirmed na. )
  • Which dates are the most leave-friendly for you?
  • Where are you headed? If you aren’t sure yet: what are your top 3 travel destinations?
  • Are you travel-ready? Has your been passport renewed? Are you aware of which countries require a travel visa?
  • How much are you willing to spend for this trip?

“Check for long weekends and holidays in advance,” suggests a spokesperson from Cebu Pacific.

“These dates tend to have more crowds and a higher demand for flights. Better to research on experiences and places to see beforehand.”

Be prepared.

Before booking begins, have everything already on-hand and ready – this includes your passport details, credit card information, as well as the complete names and details of your travel buddies (yours included). Every second counts when booking online!

Keep an eye out for seat sales.

As the internet already knows, seat sales are a great chance to score huge discounted deals on both domestic and international plane fares; hence the online unahan  clamor and instanteously sold-out tickets.

“To take advantage right away, like the social media pages of your chosen airlines to stay updated on sales and promos,” said a spokesperson from Cebu Pacific.

Another tip before you book? “Clear the cache and browser history of your device to allow faster page loading,” she added.

Although seat sales’ travel periods are usually many months away from its booking dates, it’s always best to buy early, according to a spokesperson from Philippine Airlines.

“Booking early is important because it gives you the chance to avail of the best buys, which are really the lowest fares.”

Philippine Airlines also reminds travelers to mind even the smallest details when booking online. “Find out the conditions of your ticket to determine the free baggage allowance that goes with each specific fare type.”

“Also, always leave your contact details when booking so PAL can send you a notification via email in case of any flight schedule readjustment.”

Make use of online “travel experts.”

Travel booking platforms like Klook and KKDay aren’t called travel experts for nothing – these websites can give you access to the many experiences, tours, attractions, and restaurants found in popular foreign destinations, at a significantly cheaper price.

“You’ll find better deals if you go on travel e-commerce/discount sites versus if you go to the supplier’s site directly or you go to a travel agency,” a spokesperson from KKDay said.

Convenience while traveling is also an edge these platforms can offer. “You don’t need to carry around a printed voucher because you can access them any time through the app and just show it,” said someone from KKday.

Find accomodations through Agoda or Airbnb.

Same goes for accomodation bookings – finding a place to stay is cheaper through websites like Agoda, which gives you discounted deals at select hotels and destinations.

Airbnb is also a good option for those seeking a more “down-to-earth” vacation experience, away from ritzy hotels or boutiques.

Homeowners offer their beautiful homes at reasonable prices, as well as hostels, small resorts, and family-owned properties that can usually house a large number of guests.  – Rappler.com

Table of Contents

Beaches are the most flexible holiday getaways. They offer a broad spectrum of seaside activities suitable for all kinds of tourists, and most beaches have inexpensive or no entrance fees. This means that beaches are the best tourist destinations for fun barkada trips. Because beaches are perfect for everyone, even our stingiest, most silent friends to our most unthrift, hyperactive friends can enjoy.

Based on Expedia Beach Tool – an interactive Philippine beaches map that provides helpful information, here are the Tropical Beaches recommended for Fun Barkada Trips. You can also book hotels and other deals on the website.

Beaches for Fun Barkada Trips

There are many beaches in the Philippine archipelago, and each beach has its own perks. So if you are planning to go on a trip sometime soon with your group of friends, and you’re having a hard time looking for the perfect beaches among the 7,641 islands in the Philippines, look no further.

Burot Beach in Batangas

This beach is perfect for camping, chilling out, and eating potluck meals. Don’t expect resorts or convenience stores around, so bring enough battery, food, energy, and your group of friends. Be sure to take a dip in Burot Beach’s cool waters just before the sun sets, and when nighttime comes, put up a bonfire and roast some marshmallows, or maybe try grilling too.

Malapascua Island in Cebu

Ocean Vida Resort Malapascua Island

If your friends love staying underwater rather than staying under the sun, then you should never miss Malapascua Island. Malapascua Island is one of the best diving spots in the country, and its high frequency of Thresher Shark sightings makes this beach golden. Aside from the Thresher Sharks, you can also expect to see various types of shrimps, pipefishes, and other colorful marine life forms.

Samal Island in Davao

Buenavista Island Resort in Samal

Known as the “Island Garden City of Samal”, its laidback atmosphere makes this beach island the perfect getaway for tired urban dwellers. However, if you’re feeling a bit festive, try coming here in May to catch the Kabasan Festival, in August for the Hugyaw Madayaw Festival, or chance upon the White Nights Festival that occurs every two days. Partying after going to the beach would make a good side trip.

Camiguin Island in Camiguin

White Island in Camiguin by Stephen Currington

Drag your friends to go trekking to Camiguin Island’s Katibawasan Falls. Although it’s not strictly a beach, the waterfalls’ pool, framed by orchids and ferns, wouldn’t make you ask for more. It will not be an easy journey, but it will be worth it in the end. If you’re not up for that, visit Camiguin Island in October to catch the Lanzones Festival, buy a kilo of lanzones, and eat them with your friends on the seaside.

Mactan Island in Cebu

Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa Cebu

Being a coral island is Mactan Island’s most defining characteristic. However, aside from snorkeling and diving, your friends can also engage in watersports. This island is just a few kilometers from mainland Cebu and has a lot of tourist spots that your friends can visit. Try snorkeling in San Vicente Marine Sanctuary on Olango Island , and bring an underwater camera to create an entire album of colorful marine life.

Boracay Island in Aklan

Boracay Island Fun Barkada Trips

Arguably the most famous one on this list, this long stretch of beach has a long list of activities that your barkada can do. Windsurfing, parasailing, kiteboarding, and cliff diving are some unconventional beach activities you can do with your barkada. Simply chilling out in a seaside restaurant is also a good choice. If you and your friends like taking a lot of pictures, you’ll be pleased to know that Boracay Island has a lot of Instagram-worthy locations to take pictures in.

Panglao Island in Bohol

Amorita Resort Bohol Aerial View

Although there are many activities for barkadas here on Panglao Island, diving is one of the most preferred beach activities here. Home to colorful schools of fish and corals, Panglao Island’s underwater world will show you Philippine biodiversity at its finest. If you’re not a fan of diving, the island has plenty of white sand beaches to stay in. These include Alona Beach, Dumaulan Beach, and Libaong Beach.

Come to Siargao Island in July through November and be prepared to shout “cowabunga!”. Siargao is known as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines, and regardless of your skill level in surfing, it’s the perfect place to go for a unique barkada trip by the sea. Watch other surfers or learn how to surf yourself. If you’re lucky enough, you can chance upon the world-renowned Cloud 9 wave.

El Nido in Palawan

Weekend in El Nido Palawan

If you have an energetic group of friends, and if they’re always “go na go” for all sorts of adventures, go to El Nido . El Nido’s beaches aren’t just for relaxation. Mountain biking, kayaking, or exciting island hopping trips are some things you can do on El Nido’s beaches. If you’re booking a hotel in the inner area of El Nido, you can conclude the night by eating in its seafood restaurants.

The next beach on this list is still situated in Palawan. Honda Bay , located on the eastern shore of mainland Palawan, is a body of water dotted with several islets, which include Starfish Island, named after its huge population of starfishes, and Luli Island, an island whose name is an amalgam for the Filipino expression “lulubog, lilitaw”, which means “sink and rise”. Book a tour, or rent a boat of your own and stay on each of the islets for the ultimate beach experience.

Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro

Puerto Galera Fun Barkada Trips

Puerto Galera’s long stretch of white sand beaches will surely serve as the perfect getaway for your barkada. However, suppose you don’t fancy swimming, restaurant hopping, or diving. In that case, you can also try going to Puerto Galera’s Tamaraw Falls and Tukuran River or ride on their famous Carabao taxi. There are plenty of fun barkada trips here on and off the beach.

The Best 200 Songs for a Road Trip

' src=

Here’s our first selection of music to travel and enjoy on your road trips. 200 songs perfect for travel by car.

I don’t know if you’ll be the same way of thinking like me, but music is a key factor for me while I’m traveling.

There are indeed times when what I need is a little silence, and in those moments, I enjoy while I am driving, and I only hear the very noise of the car and the asphalt.

But most of the time, what I like is listening to music to travel, my music.

Music for your Road Trips

The best music for road trips

I love music, but all good music. So for the first time, I’ve decided to share the 200 tracks that I don’t think should be missing from a music play-list to travel, and I leave a lot of songs, really, many.

The list I currently have designed for my travels has more than 1200 songs (so I don’t miss anything), and when I put it on, there’s still no song that’s sounded that makes me say, “Wow, don’t forget me when I get home to remove it from the list.”

From this list that I find difficult to cut, I have set the goal of taking the top 200 and selecting them for you.

And I couldn’t, I had to leave her in 210 because I’m not able to remove any more. And I feel like there’s a lot of… so many that I’m sure I’ll have to expand this list shortly.

Please, if you want to add more, please let them in the comments.

How have we selected this music to travel?

Los Angeles Route 66

What have been my criteria for selecting these music songs for your road trips? Well, first of all, it’s music I love, and second, anyone can listen to it and like it, let’s be good universally speaking.

And finally, if they are related to travel or a road trip, then perfect, do not forget that it is a selection of music to travel.

There are songs that some friends have told me are awesome, and I can’t listen to them for more than 15 seconds. So I’ve set out to find those 210 songs that almost anyone might like.

But well, as they say in my village, “for taste the colors.” Although you’ll realize the kind of music I like, hehe quickly.

  • Songs that sounded on our Podcast about Route 66
  • Enjoy The most famous Irish songs

Tell you that I have not ordered the songs from best to worst, but by artist, I say it because the same thing in 199 someone sees it’s fantastic and wonders where I have the sense of style and good taste…

What has become clear to me after making this list is that I have to do more because, with one, I think it’s not enough… Well, there go my 210 songs for your road trip.

And you know, would you add any, tell me and we’ll include it in the next one!!!
