Perfect Batam Travel Guide 2024

Batam Travel Guide : I’ve lived in Batam for almost 8 years and I still visit the place from time to time (to visit my family). The tropical group of islands is about 20 kilometers from Singapore.

Today Batam is an industrial and is popular amongst Singapore’s locals for weekend getaways. Like Bali and most Indonesian tourist islands, people visit Batam for its beaches, resorts, spas, and variety of seafood cuisines !

Bintan and Batam Riau happen to be the two closest Indonesian spots to Singapore making for a budget visit to get a feel of Indonesia. Even for foreign travelers, I recommend visiting Batam or Bintan if you’re looking for a short detour.

Visit Batam for a couple of days for an exotic getaway, for a taste of the crisp air by the beaches.

This post covers everything you need to know about visiting the Riau Islands. Here is my Batam Travel Guide!

Table of Contents

Best Things to Do in Batam

I’ll make sure not to overflow this list with the itsy bitsy things you can get out. Let’s get to things Batam is particularly famous for.

There are a handful of places to visit – most come here for Indonesian restaurants, shopping, beaches, resorts, and experiences like Snorkeling. 3 days should be sufficient to get around Batam Riau – but feel free to stay longer :)

Here’s the list of Things to do in Batam Riau:

  • Visit the Bareland Bridge
  • Go crazy with watersport activities

Snorkel at Abang Island

  • Visit the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Monastery
  • Try Nasi Padang, Sate (BBQ), and Mie Goreng
  • Eat Seafood at Golden Prawn and Wey Wey Seafood Restaurant

Check out the Vietnamese Camp

  • Get a massage/spa!
  • Go shopping at Batam’s numerous malls
  • Cafes, bars, and live music
  • Relax at Nongsa Point, KTM Resorts, and/or Kiki Beach

Visit the Barelang Bridge

The first must-visit place is the Barelang Bridge in Batam. There’s no way this Batam travel guide is complete without it. This bridge is one of the most scenic views and marks the beginning of the 7 bridges connecting the islands of Galang and Rempang .

Avoid visiting on the weekend and late evenings . The evenings are crowded here making up for a lot of traffic jams.

Corn and coconut by the bridge : Right after the bridge is a bunch of street stalls serving hot corn and coconut water. The grilled corn is a must-try here. The place gets pretty smoky and the varieties of grilled corn flavors are something to look forward to.

I recommend trying the chili for those who can handle the spice!

The locals here are friendly. It’s best to learn some basic Indonesian phrases to help yourself communicate here. Here’s a list I created of basic local phrases for travelers !

Go Crazy with Watersports

To the adventure junkies out there, watersports in Batam are cheap . I’ve seen Jet Ski and Banana boat prices sky-high in Singapore and Bali. Here, it’s relatively cheaper.

Make sure to plan as watersport activities are spread across the island. It takes time to get there so search up a bit on the activities you’re looking for.

Well-known spots for watersports in Batam are Harris Resort (Sekupang), Batam View Beach Resorts (Nongsa), Turi Beach Resorts (Nongsa), and KTM Resort (Sekupang). For specific watersports like Cable Skiing – Waterfront City in Sekupang is a great option.

Note: For snorkeling, keep reading ahead – there’s a special for it in Batam :)

I highly recommend this when visiting Batam! This is an itinerary trip hosted by the locals of Abang Island in the Galang District. This is a fishing village on the Pulau Pengapalap and the only way to get here is via a tiny boat called Bot Pompong.

Snorkeling here is such an offbeat experience (links to post on Bintan) that no amount of money can buy. With the corals and the variety of fishes right under your nose, the clear waters are something of the world.

It’s usually a 1-day or 2-day trip to Abang Island where you stay at their local guest houses and they provide meals. The snorkeling begins early in the morning at the nearby islands – Pulau Abang and Petong Islands.

I’ve visited the place and remember my trip vividly. The best part is the local experience of staying with the locals for an evening. Read my personal Abang Island experience here.

Don’t miss a Massage!

How can you miss a massage in Indonesia? The moment you step down from immigration in Harborfront Singapore, you’re bound to see posts of spa spots in Batam. One of the main reasons is spas are expensive elsewhere.

What costs around SGD 60 for a 1-hour spa in Singapore, costs SGD 20 – 40 here. Some great places are IndoThai SPA, Sakura SPA, ESKA Group Aesthetic, and MediSpa.

The best way to window shop around spas in Batam is at Nagoya. Get to Jalan Nagoya Hill Mall and take a stroll around the loop of spas, restaurants, and bars.

As promised, here are some amazing spa spots for pretty decent rates. Book your slot today!

Visit the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple

This is one of the few Buddhist temples in Batam, making up for a picturesque spot with gigantic Buddha statues everywhere. No matter how noisy it gets outside, the insides of the temple are always calm.

I recommend trying the food here at the temple’s end for a touch of vegetarian dishes!

maha vihara duta maitreya, batam buddhist temple

Try Nasi Padang, Satay (BBQ), and Mie Goreng

Nasi Padang is the first thing you must know about Indonesian food. If you know well enough, you might land an Indonesian citizenship! Don’t take me seriously now.

Anyway, Nasi Padang isn’t a specific dish: As tradition goes, it’s steamed rice served with pre-cooked sides of your choice. You’ll know the place when you see a pretty arrangement of white plates with different aromas from them.

These Padang spots make up the majority of food courts and restaurants like most parts of Indonesia. But to recommend, some places to check out are RM Sederhana, Ayam Bakar Taliwang (known for their special sambal or chili sauce), and Rumah Makan Ranah Padang.

Satay (or Sate as they pronounce it) is another Indonesian dish where meat is grilled, seasoned, and served with spicy sauce. The meat is cut into tiny pieces and served on sticks. There are many places in Batam for trying out the Satay.

Last but not least, is noodles – Bakso or Mie Goreng (fried noodles with vegetables and sides of your preference). You get these as instant noodles (Indomie) from any supermarket but the stall sheds are something else :)

Eat Seafood at Golden Prawn and Love Seafood Restaurant

I daresay Seafood is reasonable in Batam – it’s comparatively cheaper than most tourism hotspots in Indonesia for the same variety and delicacies. Some even let you choose your crabs!

Back then, Golden Prawn 933 Bengkong by the shores was the most authentic seafood place in Batam and still is among the prominent ones. But many have paced up with tourism – some of them being Love Seafood Tanjung Piayu, Citi Rasa seafood in Galang, Sei Enam, and of course – Barelang Seafood .

However, here’s a detailed piece on all the seafood places in Batam .

Take a drive around the Vietnamese camp in the Galang district . Fun fact: During the Vietnam civil war in 1975, people fled by boat to Southeast Asia. And Galang was one of the places they took refuge in!

Some made it, many died. But for those who survived, Indonesia recognized and created a refugee camp. While no one resides here anymore, the buildings and the camp are a tourism hotspot.

The entry fee is negligible (around IDR 35,000) and it’s worth the visit.

The UN recognized and referred Galang to as the Vietnam Village. If you take a drive around the camp today, the area is lush with its forests but you’ll find the buildings, hospitals, and cemeteries that date back to the functioning periods of the camp.

Relax at Nongsa Point, KTM Resorts, Kiki Beach

Then come the resorts… Batam’s got plenty! There are numerous skyscrapers for hotels, if you’re going to relax, I recommend picking a resort by the beach – private chalets overlooking the beach. Some all-time great ones are Nongsa Point Marina Resort, Harris Resorts, KTM Resorts, and Turi Beach.

The newest addition is the Kiki Beach Resort . I recently visited the place and it was amazing!

Here are a few resorts I picked that are best known for their comfort and reasonable rates. Being a partner of Klook.com, our readers get better deals so hurry and grab your Batam stay!

kiki resort batam, resorts in batam

Anyway, for budget travel, there are tons of options too. Fun fact, it costs only between SGD 6 – 10 for budget accommodation by Oyo or RedDoorz. Of course, nothing fancy like the resorts – but it’s great for backpackers!

Here’s another resort I checked out in Batam.

Go shopping, clubbing, and live music

Apart from the resort, the water activities, and snorkeling, what’s left out is shopping! You get quality services here at cheap rates. I’ve heard people come here from Singapore to get their laundry done!

Keep a day for shopping in Batam. Some popular malls are Mega Mall, Grand Batam, Nagoya, Batam City Square (popularly called BCS), and Batam One. Oh, and check out the food court at Batam One (I recently visited and loved the Ayam bakar at one of the stalls).

Pubs and live music . Though most locals don’t speak English, you’ll hear them sing English perfectly at live music avenues! Ask them if they know English and they’ll say ‘No I’ve just learned the song!’

Some notable places in Batam for bars are Fresh Beer , Arch Alley Grill, and BlueFire RestoBar (I’ve been to all three of these). Arch Alley Grill and BlueFire are new but FreshBeer with their own brewery is quite a different experience.

That finishes all the things to do in this Batam travel guide . But keep reading for insider tips – it’ll come in handy!

Batam Travel Guide: How to Get to Batam?

Batam is well-versed with its domestic flights and water routes. However, there are only a handful of international flights to Batam. From Singapore, the easiest (and cheapest) way is via ferry from Harborfront or Tanah Merah. From other parts of Indonesia, domestic flights are preferable.

From Singapore and Malaysia, the cheapest option is via ferry. From Singapore, the only ferry ports are Harbourfront (near the cruise point) and Tanah Merah. Get to Batam via the Batam Center ferry terminal, Harbor Bay, Sekupang, Marina Waterfront, or Nongsapura.

Harborfront Center, Singapore is a much larger port than Tanah Mera. Since these are the only few ports, there are a few ferries to choose from. Some are SindoFerry , BatamFast , WaveMaster , HorizonFerry , and Majestic . Different ferries have their schedule and most depart around hourly intervals.

how to get to batam, batam ferry from singapore

While it cost lesser before the pandemic, it currently costs around SGD 70-80 for a 2-way trip with BatamFast. Check and compare all the mentioned ferry official sites for your preferred timings, pricing, and departure and arrival ports.

For Malaysia, the only available ferry is the Pintas Samudra from Stulang Laut, Johor Bahru.

The Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam is the only city’s airport with a couple of international flights (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia). There are, otherwise, domestic flights from different parts of Indonesia like Jakarta, Bandar Lampung, Jambi City, and Medan.

With water routes too long for different parts of the country, domestic flights are the only option for traveling. Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Lion Air, and Wings Air are popular flights.

For people traveling from Singapore (if the ferry isn’t available, flying is always an option):

  • Fly straight to Jakarta or take a connecting flight from Singapore via Changi Airport.
  • Take a flight from Jakarta to Hang Nadim Airport, Batam.

Batam Travel Guide: Things to know before you visit Batam

Before you pack your bags and this Batam travel guide , there are some things to know beforehand. Especially to travelers foreign to visiting Indonesia, knowing these things shall let you know what to expect here.

Best time to Visit Batam

All-time of the year! The seasons don’t change a lot in Batam. Located on the equator line and close to the sea, it’s very humid. It’s hot most of the time. When it rains, it rains cats and dogs!

But try NOT to visit on weekends. The last time I traveled from Batam to Singapore, I thought the Ferry terminal was an entry to a concert show- it took half an hour to queue to enter the departure lounge on a Sunday evening!

The only thing to consider while planning your vacation is the peak times. Singaporeans, being an hour away, love to spend their holidays here by the beach. Prices of stays also go up during peak times.

Most Locals Don’t Speak English

senggarang island

Learn some Indonesian language basics when going out to restaurants all by yourself. Most locals don’t speak English in Indonesia. With the booming tourism, you can find guides to help you out – but it’s still a deal-breaker.

Communication shouldn’t be a problem in resorts. But when in malls, local shops, restaurants, and cabs, it’s challenging. Learn some basic Indonesian phrases. Here’s a list of phrases I made to help you out!

It’s hard to Get Vegetarian Food

Being a vegan or vegetarian in Batam is hard. The traditional local delicacies here like the  Nasi Padang comprise chicken and fish as their prime ingredients. It’s difficult to get vegetarian food in most Indonesian Cuisines. At least the curry that you eat along with rice would be of chicken flavor.

While I’ve no issues being a non-vegetarian myself, my mom finds it difficult to eat outside. We get groceries from Singapore to make many Indian dishes at home. Luckily, there are many Indian restaurants (and other cuisines) here for vegetarian food. Some of the popular ones are Maharaja Restaurant and Taj.

People are hospitable here

Comparing most places I’ve been to, people here are kind regardless of whether you know Bahasa Indonesia or not. Go walking and strangers will smile and bow at you as a greeting. Feel free to smile back and say hi!

Download Grab or Gojek

Local taxis get expensive and public transport isn’t very reliable in Batam. While taxis had a monopoly on their pricing before, making their rates, Grab and Gojek, similar to Uber, have made it reasonable for transport. Download either of the apps or both for transportation.

Also, consider renting a car/van in Batam – it’s a cheaper option with reasonable fuel prices compared to taking cabs to all places.

vietnam camp cars

Payment in Indonesian currency

It’s confusing to people whenever I explain Indonesian currency to them, so I decided to add it to this Batam travel guide. The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) always has more zeroes than one expects.

It’s a little tricky, but you’ll get used to it. 10,000 IDR equals SGD 1 (or USD 0.71). There are 1000 rupiah coins and the max currency note goes up to 100, 000 IDR. Thus, the last three digits in the Indonesian Rupiah are similar to the cents in a dollar. It costs around 5000 – 10,000 IDR to purchase a cheap pen here. So it’s pretty much of the same value as most Southeast Asian countries.

Regarding payment methods, cash, and cards are prominent for everyday transactions. Payment apps, like GoPay, are still emerging and are best for paying for your Gojek rides. As for cards, Visa and MasterCards (Maestro) are widely accepted in Indonesia. Citibank and HSBC offer great foreign exchange rates for ATM withdrawal services.

Batam Suggested Budgets

Accommodation : For budget stays, it costs anywhere between SGD 6 – 12 (IDR 60,000 – 120,000). Look for reasonable stays between this price range and check up on the whole place before paying. Stays by Oyo and RedDoorz have great value for money for private budget rooms. Some trusted sites to book from are Agoda and Booking.com.

Food : Expect to spend between IDR 25,000 – 50,000 per meal. While the local Indonesian food like Ayam Penyet and Kosong Parata costs less. Seafood that shouldn’t be missed out costs higher. But overall, it’s much cheaper than Singapore. IDR 100,000 -150,000 on food per day (SGD 10 – 15) is a reasonable budget.

Transport : This is the tough part to figure out. For solo travelers with just a backpack, I recommend using Gojek or Grab Bike (or the local Ojeks by the road). The apps give better rates than local ojeks , but not all places might have availability. Since most people visit in groups, there are plenty of rental car services with Avanza and Agya being some popular options.

perfect batam travel guide

The budget options cost anywhere between IDR 250,000 – 300,000 per day (SGD 25 – 30) depending on the service, car type, and availability. Make sure to book them early. If not, the last resort is the mass transport options such as Carry and Bimbar. Read more on getting around Batam here .

What to Pack for Batam

For Batam, and most parts of Indonesia, it’s best to keep your clothing light – shorts, sandals, flip-flops, and hats should be on your mind when visiting Batam. But to name a few, here are some things to pack for Batam, Riau Islands:

  • Light clothes and swimwear
  • Flip-flops and Sandals (Shoes and socks only if you’re particular about attires, and trek shoes for some trekking here)
  • Sunglasses and sunhats
  • Headcaps and sun lotions
  • Backpack, of course

batam travel guide, things to do in batam

Indonesia, being a tropical country, there aren’t many essentials to carry around. Keep your clothing light based on the length of your stay. Keep fewer clothes in case you’re planning on shopping in Batam.

A good pair of shoes and sunglasses will do. But wear a head cap when you go out , the heat is unbearable sometimes. To those with skin issues, bring sunscreen lotion.

2D1N Batam Itinerary β€” Weekend Getaway with Adventurous Things to Do, Hidden Beaches and Cafe-hopping

batam trip batam

A Bali-esq getaway gem that’s only a one-hour ferry ride away.

Quiet Turi Beach in Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

Things to do in Batam? Get a massage, eat, Netflix and chill in the hotel room with a box of donuts β€” end of list. At least that’s what I thought!

I never imagined I’d be able to run on empty beaches, visit a deer sanctuary, or go on adventurous activities like hiking and go-karting, while also relaxing in between with spas and cafe hopping.

After doing all that and more in this 2D1N Batam itinerary, it’s safe to say that I’ve discovered a side of Batam I haven’t experienced before and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Check-in at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel

View from hotel room at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

My two friends and I are the kind of travellers who’ll pick hostels over hotels but since we travelled in a group of three and agreed to split the cost, we decided to live it up a little and stay at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel which came up to S$87/pax for the night.

The beds and bathrooms were luxurious but we were especially taken by the alcove window. If we didn’t have to be out and about, we’d definitely be spending the entire day in this room.

Infinity pool overlooking the sea at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

The view from our room!

The pool opens from 6AM to 8PM daily and there’s a 24-hour gym right beside it.

Cost: ~S$261/night for a Deluxe Guest Room Address: Harbour Bay Downtown, Jl. Duyung, Sungai Jodoh, Kec. Batu Ampar, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau 29453, Indonesia

*Pro-tip: Use code <THETRAVELINTERN> on Klo ok to get 5% off hotels and activities * with a min. spend of S$50 (discount cap at S$15) at checkout. One-time use only! (* – list of excluded activities )

Explore Wisata Ocarina Batam

Ferris wheel at Wisata Ocarina Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

Did you know that there’s an amusement park in Batam? Wisata Ocarina Batam has classics like the giant carousel wheel, viking, and an elevated spinning-swing-thing. And it’s only Rp15,000 (~S$1.50) per ride 😲

Here’s what really amused us though, we went on a Thursday afternoon during the non-peak period and all rides were closed. But since we were already there, we entered the grounds and got some dope pics of us exploring an ‘abandoned’ amusement park!

Sitting on a ride at Wisata Ocarina Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

For those who like some seriously quiet downtime, pack lunch and hang at one of the many gazebos β€” you’ll likely be the only ones there.

*Pro-tip: Go during weekends or public holidays to go on rides. Plus, there are foam parties on some weekends too, check their Instagram for updates.

Entrance fee: Rp15,000/child, Rp25,000/adult Cost: Rp10,000 – Rp15,000/ride Opening hours: 8AM – 10PM (Mon – Fri), 7AM – 10PM (Sat), 6AM – 10PM (Sun) Address: Sadai, Bengkong, Batam City, Riau Islands 29444, Indonesia

Coffee Run at Next Level

Pavillon at Next Level, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

On the way to lunch, our Gojek driver recommended that we make a quick stop at Next Level to check out the immaculate vibes. Glad we did cause we felt like we were at a much quieter Tanjong Beach Club !

There are plenty of outdoor seats on the beachfront and some in the back under the shade too if you’re not a fan of the sun.

Outdoor sea-facing seats at Next Level, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

They also converted a breakwater into a bar β€” a pretty cool concept if you ask me! And with prices here being very reasonable, time will slip away but your hard-earned moolah won’t.

Rock Bar at Next Level Cafe, Batam

I would have loved to have their specialty Next Level Nasi Goreng (Rp45,000) or hang out at the sea-facing bar. But since we were fuelling up at our next location, I only got myself an iced peach tea (Rp28,000) this time around!

Opening hours: 9AM – 12AM Address: Gold Coast Batam, Batam City, Riau Islands 29432, Indonesia

Lunch at Golden Prawn

Food at Golden Prawn, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

Golden Prawn 933 is a great kelong seafood restaurant to have freshly cooked local dishes at a reasonable price point! We got to pick out fresh fish for the sweet and sour dish Rp67,000 (~S$6) and decided on the staple sambal kangkong Rp110,000 (~S$10) plus a tofu hotplate Rp123,000 (~S$11) for our meat-free pals!

Tofu egg dish at Golden Prawn, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

We didn’t expect this much egg hiding under all the tofu but it was so good we had no complaints! But the sambal kangkong could have been spicier though 🌢️.

Cost: ~Rp100,000-Rp168,000/pax (~S$9 – S$15/pax) Opening hours: 9:30AM – 11PM Address: Jl. Golden Prawn, Tj. Buntung, Kec. Bengkong, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau 29458, Indonesia

Racing at Golden City Go-kart

Sitting in go-karts at Golden City Go-kart, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

Zooming around at Golden City Go-kart while having mini competitions with each other was one way to override the impending food coma.

We’ve never tried go-karting before but after a short safety briefing, we were speeding like pros and had a great time 🏎️. It turned out to be pretty straightforward even for non-drivers like us. I never considered go-karting an activity to do when I’m looking for fun but now I might just try the courses we have in Singapore!

Tickets for go-karting experience at Golden City go-kart β€” Things to do in Batam

All tickets allow for 10 minutes on the track β€” but I think it was clear we didn’t want to leave so they let us have a few more rounds since it was just us on the tracks!

There’s also an option for a double go-kart (Rp250,000) which gives you the chance to sit beside your bestie and let them steer you if you have severe apprehension about being behind the wheel.

Cost: Rp200,000 for a single Go-kart Super Car Opening hours: 8AM -5PM Address: Jl. Bengkong Laut, Tj. Buntung, Kec. Bengkong, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau 29444, Indonesia

Archery or Air Rifle at Belalang Adventure

Entrance to Belalang Adventure, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

After our go-karting fun, we walked 5 minutes to the nearby Belalang Adventure β€” a multi-activity playground offering high-element courses, paintball games, archery, ATV, and air rifle experience!

Using an air-rifle at Belaying Adventure, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

Between the three of us, we split 15 arrows for a round of archery and 30 pellets for the air rifle experience β€” we had enough fun this way and it allowed us to share the cost too! We spent about 40 minutes here but they seem generally chill about how long you take to finish your round as long as there are not many visitors.

*Pro-tip: Call in to check if the high-element course is open β€” it might be closed on some days for routine maintenance.

Cost: Rp60,000 for Archery and Rp100,000 for Air Rifle Opening hours: 9AM – 5PM Address: Golden City, Bengkong Laut, Kec. Bengkong, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau 29444, Indonesia

Dinner at a Cheryl Signature Cafe

Front facade of Cheryl Signature Cafe, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

For dinner, we headed to Cheryl Signature Cafe β€” a casual diner by the waterside. There’s a wooden floating platform that extends into the water where we could lounge. The platform was more stable than expected though so I didn’t feel any semblance of floating at all.

Having drinks at the floating platform of Cheryl Signature Cafe, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

The vegetarians amongst us had the crΓ©me spinach pasta (Rp35,000). We also ordered a chicken salted egg rice bowl (Rp28,000) and non-alcoholic mojitos (Rp25,000). The food came in surprisingly large portions despite the price and was pretty filling.

Food and drinks served at Cheryl Signature Cafe, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

The cafe is a prime spot to catch the sunset but unfortunately, it was kind of gloomy when we were there. Plus, it started drizzling halfway through our meal, so it was a good thing there are sheltered seats here too!

Opening hours: 11AM – 12AM Address: Bengkong Laut, Batam City, Riau Islands, Indonesia

Nightcap at Altitude Bar, Marriott Hotel

Signature bartender drink at Altitude bar on top of Marriott Hotel, Batam β€” Things to do in Batam

A drink I had at Altitude Bar β€” tastes very much like rum!

One of the perks of staying at Marriott Hotel is the Altitude Bar ! Since it opens till late, we dropped by for a nightcap here after an eventful day.

*Pro-tip: You can request for a bartender specialty drink if you want an aesthetically-pleasing shot for the gram!

At Rp190,000 (~S$17) each for our bartender specialty drinks though, prices here are a little steep. But we tried a drink each anyway so we could stay for the vibes.

The drink I had is a perfect choice if you’re a rum kinda person β€” which I’m not. But at least the pictures turned out pretty! If you don’t need a picture for the gram, I’d recommend you to stick to your usual order instead.

Having drinks at Altitude Bar, Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel, Batam - Things to do in Batam

Regardless, observing the Singapore skyline while vibing to a live DJ at the bar was pretty fun! Eventually, we moved away from the bar and ventured to the left-most part of the roof β€” towards an area with circular tables for a quieter experience.

Opening hours: 5PM – 11PM (Sun – Thu), 5PM – 12AM (Fri – Sat) Address: Roof level, Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay, Harbour Bay Downtown, Jl. Dying, Ken Sungai Jodoh, Ken Batu Ampar, Batam 29453, Indonesia

Breakfast at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel

Buffet breakfast at Harbour Bay Marriott Hotel Batam - Things to do in Batam

The breakfast spread at Marriott Hotel was indulgent, to say the least β€” there are cheese platters, noodle bars, pastries, local and Indian cuisine, and a free-flow juice bar.

I started with some butter croissants then moved on to a mushroom omelette and proceeded to have multiple servings of Indonesian fried rice. Buffet breakfast starts at 6AM and ends at 11AM β€” I’d say get a bang for your buck and be the first to enter and last to leave the dining hall πŸ˜‰

Hike at Panbil Nature Reserve

Palawan Forest at Panbil Nature Reserve - Things to do in Batam

Panbil Nature Reserve was newly opened in 2022 and from what our guide shared with us, there will also be high-element courses available within the park soon!

We took on the guided Semar Hiking Package (Rp250,000/pax) β€” which includes a guided hike in the Palawan Forest Area, visiting the Sambar Deer Sanctuary, and a meal voucher.

The Semar Hike isn’t a relaxing hike in the forest looking at pitcher plants like we thought it’d be. It turned out rather challenging β€” we even found ourselves swinging from vines at one point! But it was all good fun and we were looking forward to interacting with the deers afterwards.

Feeding Sambar Deers at Panbil Nature Reserve, Batam - Things to do in Batam

So en-deer-ing 🦌

We got a chance to feed the deer while visiting the Sambar Deer sanctuary. But do take note β€” although feeding is included in the package, deers are notoriously elusive animals so whether or not they’re up for a nibble is anyone’s guess!

Either way, even if you don’t get to feed them, watching these graceful Sambar Deers from the perimeter of the fence is still a treat though! Cause we can almost never spot them in Singapore.

Fun fact: It’s quite common to find quartz crystals while on a hike here too, although it definitely takes a trained eye! Ask your guide to show you some of his finds or you can buy one off him for ~Rp55,000!

After feeding the deer, it was time for us to grab a meal. Using our meal vouchers, we had good old Indonesian fried rice and noodles for lunch at the in-house cafe. Plus, free coconut water too!

*Pro-tip: Contact Panbil Nature Reserve on WhatsApp for ease of communication and booking of the hikes.

Opening hours: 10AM – 6PM (Mon – Fri), 9AM – 6PM (Sat – Sun) Address: Jalan Kantong Semar, Panbil, Batam City, Indonesia

Popping by Sense Coffee & Pool

Sitting by the pool at Sense Coffee & Pool - Things to do in Indonesia

Sense Coffee and Pool has quite a cool concept β€” cafe-goers can choose to hang at the indoor or outdoor seats, or get a cuppa and have a dip in the pool!

Catching up on some emails here wouldn’t be a problem either β€” we spotted at least five power points!

Doing some remote work at Sense Coffee & Pool - Things to do in Indonesia

There’s an array of dishes here from western to local food all ranging from ~Rp28,000 to Rp50,000 and drinks start from Rp16,000. We kept things simple and got some iced caramel lattes (Rp29,000) which were alright for the price point.

They accept card payments so don’t worry about having to bring too much cash!

Cost of pool entry: Rp50,000 for unlimited hours Opening hours: 9AM – 8PM (Mon – Sat), 8AM – 9PM (Sun) Address: Komp. Centre Park No. 3, Taman Baloi, Batam Kota, Batam City, Riau Islands 29432, Indonesia

Bar Pools and Sunset at Turi Beach

Having drinks at the pool bar of Turi Beach Resort - things to do in Indonesia

A 30-minute Gojek ride later, we found ourselves at Turi Beach β€” a private beach only accessible to guests of Turi Beach Resort . But thankfully it’s not that exclusive, we were allowed in after paying an entry fee of Rp150,000 πŸ˜‰.

Best part is that the price includes a set meal that offered us a choice of local fried rice or noodles and a cold drink, usage of the pool, and pool towels!

Looking at the jetty at Turi Beach Resort - Things to do in Indonesia

We weren’t told what time we had to leave the resort premises so we ended up spending 4 hours alternating between hanging out on the beach swings, drinking at the pool bar, and walking on the jetty.

As someone who values peace and quiet, the entry fee is well worth it. And since there’s no time limit, no one’s stopping you from lounging out here the whole day.

Cost: Rp150,000/pax Address: Jl. Hang Lekiu, Nongsa, Batam 29465 Indonesia

Total Relaxation at Absolute Spa

Spa room with jacuzzi at Absolute Spa - Things to do in Indonesia

We ended our trip with a Full Glow Spa Package (~S$36) at Absolute Spa and were treated to a foot bath, body scrub, body mask, and access to the sauna.

To top it off, the package included a specialty treatment of choice so between the three of us, we chose head and shoulder massage, ear candling, and facial acupressure treatment!

Ear candling at Absolute Spa - Things to do in Indonesia

I got the ear candling treatment β€” this removes earwax and is believed to alleviate sinus symptoms! It really looks much more intense than it feels, I was actually so relaxed that I eventually fell asleep to the soft crackling sounds of the fire and gentle massaging of my pressure points.

We also really loved the fact that our rooms came with a built-in jacuzzi and shower so we didn’t have to move from one room to another. And being served iced-tea, ginger tea and tapioca chips post-treatment was just *chef’s kiss*.

Using the jacuzzi at Absolute Spa, Batam - Things to do in Indonesia

The clean rooms and friendly staff definitely added value to the experience! If I were in Batam again just for a day, I’d definitely call in and make an appointment before catching my ferry back.

Opening hours: 10AM – 10PM Address: Ruko Penuin Blok OA No.12 – 12A, Batu Selicin, Kec. Lubuk Baja, Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau 29444, Indonesia

How to Plan a Quick Weekend Getaway in Batam

View of the sea from Wisata Ocarina - Things to do in Indonesia

I didn’t think Batam had this much to offer but now that I do, I’ll be thinking of the next time I can lounge on Turi Beach and have another relax-sesh at Absolute Spa .

Here are some tips if you’re planning your own weekend Batam itinerary.

1) Book a Ferry

Book your ferry tickets online (~S$73/pax for two-way) a few days in advance β€” remember to arrange for a return trip as tickets get snapped up fast, especially during the weekends.

*Pro-tip: Use code <THETRAVELINTERN> on Klo ok to get 5% off the ferry and activities * with a min. spend of S$50 (discount cap at S$15) at checkout. One-time use only! (* – list of excluded activities )

Also note that you’ll need to exchange your e-ticket for a boarding pass at Sindo Ferry’s counter, located on level three of Harbourfront Centre.

2) Register for E-sim

Check that your phone model is compatible with an eSIM, which is much more hassle-free. We got the 3-day package (~S$8 inclusive of 1GB data per day) and activated it on our phones just 10 minutes before boarding the ferry from Singapore!

3) Convert Currencies at Harbourfront Centre

Cash is still king in Batam so it’s best to have a little more on hand!

If you don’t have time to get cash changed beforehand, check out AGM Money Changer at Singapore Cruise Center . It’s located on the second floor right by the ferry departure gates and opens at 7AM daily!

4) Insurance

Last and most importantly, remember to get travel insurance in case of any unexpected circumstances. We got ours with Travelcare’s Essential Plan (S$4.30/day), which also covers Covid-19 related expenses.

5) Accommodation

Batam has four harbours β€” Batam Center , Sekupang , Harbour Bay and Nongsapura . So pick your accommodation wisely to reduce travel time from harbour to hotel!

Although Marriott Hotel is a 20-minute Gojek ride from Batam Center where we disembarked, we picked it anyway for the luxurious experience! Alternatively, HARRIS Hotel (~S$57/night) is right beside Batam Center.

It’s pretty simple to prep for a trip to this neighbouring island and now that you know of these things to do in Batam, a mental reset is just an hour and a weekend away!

Inspiration for Batam: 3 Days, 2 Nights in Batam

' src=

Batam is an island and city in Indonesia’s Riau Islands, once a tourist backwater but now experiencing a boom in industry and tourism. It is just 20 kilometres from Singapore, around 40 minutes by speedboat, meaning that most international tourists come from there. Many tourists come for the fun nightlife and the discounted shopping. In fact, in many ways it’s like a cut-price version of Singapore, with many similar attractions and activities on offer.

We’ve already written a guide on the best things to do in Batam , so now we want to share some ideas if you’re visiting. Here’s our 3 Day 2 Night itinerary for Batam. Hope you find it useful.

Batam Itinerary: Day 1

Arriving at the harbour or airport, a private car will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Here, you can freshen up, relax, and drop off your things before heading out to explore Batam. We recommend staying in the Ngoya Hill Hotel Batam or the Hotel Baloi Batam . Meanwhile Da Vienna Boutique Hotel and ESKA Hotel are good mid-range options.

Enjoy some retail therapy

A good way to ease yourself in to Batam is by exploring the city’s shopping malls. These are the reason why many people come here from Singapore, as you can find great discounts. A good place to start is Batam’s largest mall, Nagoya Hill . You’ll be able to pick up a great discount on anything you can think of here, from clothes to electronics.

Hit the beach

In the afternoon, check out one of Batam’s beaches, another of the island’s major draws. The most accessible beaches are in the Waterfront area, where you can enjoy a range of water sports. These include fishing, water skiing and jet skiing, as well as things like go-karting and bowling back on dry land. If you fancy something a bit quieter, head to Melur Beach on Galang Island, connected to Batam by the Balerang road bridge. This is pretty and peaceful and one of the few nice beaches not owned by a resort.

Batam Itinerary:Β Day 2

Having worked up a sweat with all those activities yesterday afternoon, you’ll want to soothe those aching muscles this morning. Bantam is famous for its spas, which, once again, deliver similar quality to Singapore at a reduced cost. The highly rated Majesty Massage and Spa offers a range of massages, hot stone treatments, ear candle therapies and much more.

Visit Batam’s peaceful temples

Batam may be famous for shopping and nightlife, but there’s more to it than that. Now you’re feeling nice and relaxed, you may want to visit some of Batam’s temples and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. The island is home to Buddhist and Hindu temples, many of which are very beautiful. The most famous is probably Tua Pek Kong, a beautiful Buddhist temple in the traditional Chinese style. It’s the oldest Buddhist temple here, but on Batam that’s not saying much – it opened in 1986 and still looks brand new. Unusually for a temple, you can pick up a bite to eat here – there’s cute vegetarian buns on offer to visitors in the shape of animals.

Take in the sunset at Barelang Bridge

After an afternoon tramping round Batam’s temples, you should check out the beautiful sunset at Barelang Bridge. Actually a set of six bridges, this is an engineering marvel and a Batam landmark. It connects the main island with several smaller islands to the south, which were developed as part of Batam’s tourism boom. This is a lovely place to watch the sun go down over Batam and the surrounding islands.

Get your dancing shoes on in Nagoya’s nightclubs

As this is your last night on Batam, you can’t afford to miss the city’s legendary nightlife. The Nagoya area is chock full of bars and clubs where you can dance the night away. Some of the most popular are Brewsky & Co , where you can enjoy a good range of beers, and Jungle Bar, apparently the oldest night spot in Batam.

Batam Itinerary:Β Day 3

Visit smaller islands around batam.

As today is your last day in Batam, don’t miss the opportunity to visit some of the smaller islands nearby. Bintan has beautiful beaches, good bars and some historic temples. Galang Island, as mentioned above, has pleasant beaches. It also has a unique and interesting history as a former sanctuary for Vietnamese refugees. Another popular spot is Abang Island, which offers fantastic diving – the snorkelling is great, too.

Enjoy fantastic seafood

Another thing not to be missed while you’re still here is a delicious seafood lunch. Indonesia, the world’s largest island chain, is fantastic for seafood, and Batam is no different. There are lots of high-end restaurants where you can find delicious seafood at great prices. Sei Anam is considered the best in many people’s books – be sure to try the chilli crab and the prawns.

Pick up some gifts and souvenirs

Finally, use your remaining time to pick up some last-minute souvenirs. If you’ve already visited Nagoya Hill on your first day, check out Batam City Square (BCS) . This is a great place to pick up designer clothes at low prices. You’ll also find electronics stores, bookshops, and delicious Indonesian restaurants.

Final thoughts

The above is just one way you could choose to explore Batam, which is a fantastic tourist destination unique in Indonesia. It’s a duty free zone, which means quality goods are available at low prices. It is very close to Singapore – just 40 minutes by speedboat – and is popular for its shopping and nightlife. There’s much more to the city besides, though, with fantastic seafood, peaceful temples and superb spas.

What do you think about the above itinerary? What things would you suggest people to do in Batam that we have missed?

15 Best Things to Do in Batam (Indonesia)

Batam is just across the water from Singapore, so if you are looking for a weekend break to Indonesia then this is a great place to come. From Singapore it is a 40 minute ride to Batam on a speed boat and once you are there you can enjoy a huge range of activities far more cheaply than in many other parts of Southeast Asia.

The island is famous as a place where people come to relax and get away from it all and as such it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia. You won’t find a huge array of β€˜attractions’ like historical sites as such, but you will find a number of resorts, spas, restaurants and cafes, and the nightlife here is lively with a good range of choices if you are looking for some entertainment in the evenings.

Another reason why people flock to Batam is for the diving or snorkeling opportunities as the waters here are incredibly clear and visibility is excellent if you want to explore the underwater kingdoms in this part of Indonesia.

Let’s explore the best things to do in Batam :

1. Enjoy the water sports

Batam Cable Ski Park

One of the signature attractions in Batam is the water sports as it is located right next to the water.

In other places like Singapore the coast of water skiing or wakeboarding can really add up but in Batam you can enjoy these for a fraction of the price and one of the best places to do this is at the Batam Cable Ski Park.

Just some of the activities on offer here include canoeing, jet skiing, or even snorkeling or you can check out other famous resorts like the Batam View Beach Resort.

2. Visit Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple

Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple

This temple is one of the more serene ways to enjoy Batam and is the place to come if you want to find some inner peace.

Devotees here usually burn incense for good luck and you can enjoy the colorful and elegant Buddha statues here as well as the carvings of twelve zodiac signs which lie opposite the temple.

One of the best things about the temple is that there is also a cafe here and you buy a range of delicious vegetarian food including buns and snacks in the shape of cute animals.

3. Take a trip to Penyengat Island

Penyengat Island

There are a number of islands around central Batam Island that are perfect for day trips and one of these is the stunning Penyengat Island.

It is not one of the largest islands in the area and you can walk around it in around two hours which means that if you get here early you can go for a walk before spending the afternoon sunbathing and then catch the spectacular sunset.

One point of interest on the island is the local mosque called Masjid Kuning (Yellow Mosque) and legend has it that eggshells were used in its construction to make the walls stronger.

The island is also a great place if you want to get a glimpse of how locals live in the less touristy parts of Batam.

4. Dine on seafood

Batam Seafood

Batam is also known for its seafood which again is far cheaper than Singapore or other parts of Southeast Asia.

Some of the top picks for seafood in the city include the Sei Enam Seafood Restaurant as well as the Rezeki Seafood Restaurant and Harbour Bay Seafood.

If you are looking for signature dishes then try the chili crab which is famous in the region as well as black pepper crab and snacks like crunchy calamari.

Other underwater delights about here such as juicy prawns and even dine on freshly caught lobster which is usually simply grilled and served with white rice.

5. Travel along the northern coast

Duriankang Reservoir

Many people come to Batam and only check out the main tourist areas or take a boat to some of the neighboring islands.

If you want to explore a little further however then consider a trip along the northern coastline.

One of the best ways to do this is to hire a motorbike or a bicycle and drive past gorgeous lush jungles with sweeping vistas over the water on the other side of the trail.

The trail will take you along the Duriankang Reservoir and then along the pretty Nongsa Coast and if you choose to ride a bike then you can expect around a 30 kilometer ride from Nongsa Village to the end of the line.

6. Sunbathe on Nongsa Beach

Nongsa Beach

Nongsa Beach is one of the best places to come if you are in Batam and looking for some sand.

The beach has a relaxed atmosphere and is less crowded than some other places on the island.

It is also close to a range of amenities and you will find an array of eateries lining the beach that are a great spot if you fancy a spot of dinner or a drink while watching the sunset.

There are also some spas nearby and you can go for a paddle or a swim.

7. Watch the sunset at Barelang Bridge

Barelang Bridge

Barelang Bridge is one of the most iconic sights in Batam and people flock here in the late afternoon for the photo opportunities.

The bridge actually links main Batam Island with adjacent Galang Island and the bridge is a marvel of engineering as it majestically spans the water between these two islands.

If possible try to go around sunset for the best vistas across the water.

8. Have a massage

Massage

One of the reasons that people come to Batam is for rest and relaxation and as a result there are a wealth of spas here where you can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a range of soothing treatments.

One of the most famous places to get a treatment is the Isabella Massage House although there are a huge range to choose from scattered across the city which will mean that wherever you go you will leave rejuvenated and relaxed.

9. Go scuba diving

Scuba Diving

If you are a diving newbie and want to get certified then Batam Island is the perfect spot to get your PADI certificate cheaply.

Some of the best places to dive here are located offshore from the main Batam Island and include Abang Island, Hantu Island, Labun Island, and Petong Island.

From Batam you can sign up for a course and will be taken out to the neighboring islands in a boat and the visibility here is amazingly clear so you will be able to take in a range of underwater creatures and this is a top spot if you like marine photography.

If you are already an experienced diver then you will also find a lot to enjoy here thanks to the huge selection of aquatic life in these waters such as sharks, rays, and turtles.

10. Play a round of golf

Batam Hills Golf Resort

Batam is a golfer’s paradise and you can enjoy not one but seven different ranges in and around the area.

These include the Batam Hills Golf Resort and the Palm Springs Golf and Beach Resort or you can go to the Padang Golf Sukajadi which is the most famous of all the courses here.

As well as enjoying a game of golf all the courses have bars and eateries attached so you can also get a bite to eat or enjoy a sundowner as you look over the idyllic rambling dunes.

11. Take a trip to Bintan Island

Bintan Island

Bintan Island lies close to Batam and is known for being a luxury retreat with a wealth of delightful high end resorts to choose from.

If you are not on a budget then you can think about staying overnight or you can just take a day trip to Bintan and enjoy the pristine white sands and the azure waters.

Bintan is slightly less busy than Batam and most people come here to chill out at one of the resident resorts on the island, so if you are looking to get away from the crowds then this is a good choice.

12. Check out the stilt houses in Tanjung Uma

Tanjung Uma

Many parts of Batam are incredibly modern but if you go out to the old villages then there are a wealth of historical relics to enjoy.

These include the stilt houses which are built over the water and this is an amazing sight if you have never seen traditional architecture like this before.

One of the best places to see these old fashioned stilt houses is in the sleepy fishing village of Tanjung Uma so if you are interested in local architecture and culture then this is not to be missed and shows a completely different side of this island.

13. Have fun at Ocarina Park

Ocarina Park Batam

Ocarina Park is a great place to come with all the family and is a large entertainment complex which also includes the Ocarina Waterpark.

The park ahs a range of signature features including a large Ferris wheel and you will find a range of rides for children of all ages as well as adults.

There is also a 3D movie theater inside the park and you will also find a number of food courts where you can get a bite to eat.

Certainly if you are looking for a place with a range of attractions all in one place then this is a great choice.

14. Enjoy the nightlife

Batam Nightlife

Batam is well known for having cheap alcohol particularly compared to neighboring Singapore.

It is also one of the liveliest parts of Indonesia if you are looking for an exciting nightlife scene.

The main area for bars and clubs is known as the Nagoya Entertainment District or just β€˜NED’ and you can easily spend a night on the town here enjoying the local Indonesian beer Bintang or having a cocktail.

Venues range from low-key lounges where you can get a drink before dinner to larger nightclubs where you can dance the night away into the wee small hours.

15. Go shopping at Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall

Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall

Batam is an island but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a wealth of shopping malls to visit and actually shopping is the number one pastime for many visitors here.

The Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall has the claim to fame of being the biggest mall in the city and you will find a full range of items here such as branded clothes and accessories.

Other malls include Mega Mall Batam Center and BCS Mall.

Lots of malls also sell a wealth of typical handicrafts such as wood carvings and textiles so if you are looking to pick up some gifts or souvenirs then you can do all your shopping under one roof.

Top activities to do & places to visit in batam, top 18 batam hotels to stay in 2023, faqs about batam.

batam trip batam

It is highly recommended you visit Batam during the months of October to early December. The air is cool and dry and there are not yet many tourists (compared to the peak season of late December to early January). The period after school holiday from March to April is also a great time to visit as there are many festivals in and around Batam.Β

Batam is a safe place to be in. Here and there there can be petty crimes such as pick pocketing, so beware of your belongings.

It really depends on how much time you have got. The minimum recommended duration is 3 days while you can stay as long as 1 week to fully enjoy the city. Although Batam does not seem to have a lot of things to do at first sight, one will have to dig deeper to know the must-dos. From nightly street food scenes to the hidden shopping alleys, and occasional visit to craft village, Batam may just well be your most special destination thus far. If you need some suggestion, contact us.

To find out what to do in Batam, click here to check our blogpost!

You can start off the day by engaging in sport activities such as banana boat water sports, enjoy a seafood lunch at our recommended restaurants, and spend the day city shopping in Batam Center. End the day with a delightful stay at our best Batam hotels.

  • Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall: famous for city shopping, fine dinning and entertainment options
  • Barelang Bridge: offer stunning ocean viewsΒ
  • Waterfront City: beautiful beach that offers water sports, dining and entertainment activities
  • Turi Beach Resort : gorgeous resort that offers luxurious rooms and beautiful ocean views

It depends on you, but BatamΒ  is famous for Kueh Lapis, Bird Nest and even some local snacks such as Keropuk. You can get freshly made ones from the factory outlet in our Batam Tour!

Ferries from Singapore to Batam are mainly ran by 4 different Ferry companies such as Sindo Ferry, Majestic Ferry, Batam Fast and Horizon Ferry.Β

You can refer to their respective websites for ferry schedules. We recommend Sindo Ferry but typically they depart 1 hour apart.Β

Latest information can be found on the Batam ferry companies’ respective websites.

You can also refer to our blog about most updated ferry schedule from Singapore to Batam. Click here for more information.

Most ferries from Harbour Front Centre arrive at Batam Centre Ferry Terminal. For our packages, it will mainly be from Harbour Front to Batam Center Ferry terminal and return from Batam Center Ferry Terminal to Harbour Front Centre.Β

If you want to have convenience in batam, hotels that are located in the batam city center are recommended:

If you want to escape the city and you are a nature lover:

  • Turi beach Resort Batam
  • Montigo Resort Nongsa Batam

From Singapore To Batam: Everything You Need to Know about Batam VTL

Batam VTL - After 25 February 2022, Singaporeans who have been properly immunized against COVID-19 will be able to travel to and from the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan without being subjected to a mandatory quarantine.

Singapore was not the first to open up these islands; on January 24, 2022, the Indonesian government decided to allow tourists and businesspeople access to Batam and Bintan without consulting Singapore. But going there was pointless because you’d have to deal with a 7-day SHN when you got back.

Batam and Bintan will soon be welcoming tourists when President Joko Widodo gives his blessing to a plan coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Beginning on January 24, 2022, visitors from outside of Indonesia will be permitted entry to Batam and Bintan under certain conditions. No RT-PCR test results are required to be taken prior to departure from the country or region of origin on or after May 18, 2022.

Below, you’ll find all the information you need.

Entrance To Batam via Visa Waiver Program/Visa on Arrival

The Indonesian government has expanded the list of nations and special entities whose residents are eligible for Visa Exemption and Visa On Arrival (VOA) for entry to the Riau Islands for tourism purposes, effective as of 27 July 2022, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In alphabetical order, please find the following list of nations and recognized special entities eligible for the Visa Exemption Arrangement:

Travelers from other countries can bypass the need for a visa at certain immigration checkpoints if they meet the following criteria:

Airport Immigration Control Systems

Checkpoints for Immigrants at Ports

You can read the full Circular Letter Number 25 of 2022 from the COVID-19 Task Force about Health Protocols for International Travel during the COVID-19 Pandemic, but here’s a summary of the changes that have been made:

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for a Visit Visa Exemption or a Visa on Arrival for Tourist Use.

If you are granted a Visit Visa Exemption or a Visa on Arrival for a Tourist or Business Trip, your entry stamp will also serve as a Visit Stay Permit for the following durations:

Travel From Singapore To Batam/Bintan

Nongsa Sensation (Batam) and Lagoi Bintan Resort (Bintan) are the only locations where eligible guests will be allowed to stay. The Batam View Resort, Montigo Resort, Nongsa Point Marina Resort, and Turi Beach Resort make up the accommodations in the Nonga Sensation bubble region.

Anyone who has spent the previous 14 days in Singapore is exempt from quarantine, regardless of country. Singaporeans can enter Indonesia without a visa, while citizens of other countries may need to do so.

All primary vaccinations must be up to date, with the last dosage given at least 14 days before departure to travelers. Those who get their shots in Singapore won’t have any trouble entering Indonesia, as the country recognizes vaccines made by Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, and Sinopharm, among others.

When traveling with fully immunized parents, children under the age of 12 are exempt from the vaccine requirement.

Travelers are required to get a negative PCR test result within 72 hours before departure. These tests typically cost S$98 in Singapore, however Bintan Resort Ferries has teamed with Northeast Medical Group to offer a discounted fee of S$95.

Travelers should have health insurance that covers costs associated to COVID-19. Bintan Resort Ferries requires US$25,000 (S$34,000) in coverage, whereas the Indonesia Tourism Board recommends S$30,000.

Things You Need to Know Before Going to Batam

Passports must have at least six months of validity remaining upon arrival back in the country. Those of you who are Singaporean citizens and whose passports are about to expire or have already expired, please renew them as soon as possible. The recent loosening of travel restrictions has resulted in a surge of passport applications, which might cause renewal to take up to six weeks.

Each traveler needs to show documentation of receiving at least two (2) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least fourteen (14) days before departure. Those under the age of eighteen (18) who are accompanied by an adult who has received the necessary immunisations are exempt from this rule.

For those who had their vaccinations in Singapore, the Covid-vaccination report can be retrieved through Health Hub, and vaccination evidence can be obtained digitally using Notarise. To access your vaccination certificate via Notorise, enter your Singpass information.

There is no visa needed for citizens of Singapore or Indonesia to visit Batam. To participate in the travel bubble, all other nationalities must first obtain the appropriate entry-visa to Indonesia.

Travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage of at least SGD 20,000 is required for all foreign nationals entering Indonesia. If insurance is not included in your Batam vacation package, you should get it in Singapore before leaving.

Travel protection to Batam is available from Chubb, or you can have it added to your BatamGetaway package at no extra cost.

All international visitors to Indonesia are required to fill out the COVID health declaration included in eHAC.

You can either visit the official website for the Indonesian Health Alert Card and fill out the online form there, or you can get the eHAC Indonesia app from the Apple or Google app stores and use it on your mobile device.

Passengers may be denied entrance or denied boarding if they are unable to produce an eHAC at immigration checks.

You are not required to serve a stay-at-home notice upon your return. This is the case if you qualify for VTL (Sea) and meet all the criteria on the secure journey checklist. Failure to comply with standards may result in denial of entrance to Singapore for all visitors, including citizens and permanent residents of Singapore.

Batam and Bintan are once again on the agenda for a variety of deserving vacations, which will come as good news to people who take pleasure in the beach, the sand, and the water. Those who are anxious to get away from Singapore have more economical options to consider, in addition to the fact that these destinations are great for a quick and simple break.

Are you ready to enjoy some great time in Batam? Come and book your ticket flights and hotel room only through Traveloka!

Not only Articles about Batam VTL that Traveloka provides, but we also have a lot of best-recommended articles for you guys to read! Here is the list of the best Articles recommendation special for you :

Note: Travel restrictions and rules may be subject to change during this pandemic, therefore it is important to check with the Indonesian embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Singapore) for the most up-to-date guidelines on Batam VTL.

Bea Cukai Batam Menggagalkan Penyelundupan 184 Ribu Batang Rokok Ilegal
