Brendan Cole had one of the most emotional moments of Dancing on Ice this year on Sunday's live show (March 13).

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Brendan Cole took to the ice in last night's semi-final alongside partner Vanessa Bauer .

Brendan was tasked with performing a routine alongside a song that meant something special to him, and he selected Elvis Costello 's cover of the ballad 'She'.

He dedicated the dance to both his wife Zoe and his late father Eddie.

Explaining the song's significance, Brendan said: "On our wedding day, we had some friends who were part of a musical group called Blake, who offered to sing us a few songs at our reception.

"Unbeknownst to us, they opened with 'She', and sung it directly to my wife. And, as it turned out, it was actually my father's favourite song.

"The reason that particular song is so important for me, is my dad couldn't be at our wedding because he was ill, and he passed away four months later.

"The moment the fellas started to sing, it was almost like everything stood still, and Dad was somehow able to still be at the wedding. It was a very surreal and beautiful moment, and one that Zoe and I will always hold very dear."

Praising his wife, Brendan added: "My amazing wife, she's my best friend, she always has been. She is there for me, 100%, and allows me to follow my dreams, to create our family life.

"I would like this performance to be perfect for so many reasons. This is a dedication to my best friend."

Brendan sailed through to this year's Dancing on Ice final after a near-perfect score from the judges and viewers' votes. He will battle it out in the final with Kimberley Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne.

Brendan Cole confirmed to appear on next series of Dancing On Ice

Four years after he departed from Strictly Come Dancing

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has been confirmed to appear on the next series of Dancing On Ice , swapping his dancing shoes for a pair of skates (but, of course, just as much glitz and glam).

The professional dancer has been signed up to compete on the famous ice rink, appearing in front of the Dancing On Ice judges in the new series, which is set to be with us in the new year.

Appearing on Loose Women today (6th October), Brendan said: "I'm so, so excited. It’s been a while coming now. I’ve known I’d be doing the show for quite some time and I want to get started, I’m so excited to be on the show."

Speaking about his experience on the ice, the dancer said: "I’ve had one go. I’m a fairly confident person and I like to think I’m going to be good at what I put my hand to or my feet to!"

He then continued: "You can expect to be a bit wobbly on ice but I was hoping I was going to be better than I was. I’ve got time to learn. I’m just going to embrace the whole experience and I’m very excited to get started."

The 45-year-old's appearance on the show will mark four years since he dazzled us all on Strictly as a pro dancer. He took part in the show for the first 15 seasons - between the years of 2004 and 2017 - dancing with huge names such as Kelly Brook, Lisa Snowdon and Charlotte Hawkins.

Since departing from Strictly, Brendan appeared in theatre productions. Speaking on Loose Women about getting back to business, he said: "To be off the stage for such a long time now. I think March last year I finished my theatre production and all the lockdowns happened.

"To be back on a big stage - and this is a very big, very cold stage - I cannot tell you how excited I am. It means a lot to us in the entertainment industry to have these opportunities and I’m going to take it with both skates!"

Traditionally, Dancing On Ice begins in January, with a source telling the Daily Mail that Brendan is very much in it to win it! The source said: "Brendan is extremely competitive. He wants to go all the way and win Dancing On Ice.

"Dancing is his profession so he already has a lifetime of experience but he's a novice when it comes to performing on an ice rink."

Brendan will be joining the previously announced cast including Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays dancer Bez , Paraympian Stef Reid, Love Island ’s Liberty Poole , rugby star Ben Foden, Paul Gascoigne’s son Regan Gascoigne and pop star Rachel Stevens.

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional, Brendan Cole , has broken his silence after losing the Dancing on Ice  victory title to Regan Gascoigne on Sunday.

Brendan and dance partner Vanessa Bauer finished second and speaking after missing out on the trophy, the father-of-two told his fans on Instagram: "Well, I am starting this video as I started the one this morning. Massive thank you to everybody who has voted for Vanessa and I tonight. That was an epic day."

He then went on to congratulate Regan for winning this year's series.

Vanessa and Brendan have formed a great friendship in the last six months

"Thank you so much to all the Dancing on Ice teams across the board. So many departments all gave us everything for this series and it's been six months of amazingness."

He then finished the video by saying: "So, I'm going to sleep, I'm signing off from Dancing on Ice and eating a bag of crisps in bed, that's weird. Goodnight all, thanks for voting. Thanks for cheering us on. The end."

Kimberly, who finished third in the competition, also took to social media to thank her fans for all the support throughout the series.

The couple lost out to Regan and Karina

"I just want to say thank you to everybody. I've already started taking my costume off, but I do want to say thank you to everybody that has watched and supported and enjoyed Mark and I's performances. It's been such a dream come true and the final was just an absolute and beautiful dream."

She added: "Ice skating was my first dream as a kid.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you out there that did watch and support and vote and I just want to say thank you so, so much. All the love."

‘Dancing On Ice’ announces professional dancer Brendan Cole as latest contestant

‘Dancing On Ice’ has confirmed the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro as the latest celebrity to join the 2022 cast.

Dancing On Ice 2022 have announced that professional dancer Brendan Cole will be taking his dance moves to a rather different and icy surface as he is the latest celebrity to join the 2022 line-up.

He will be joining the likes of Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor , Happy Mondays star Bez , Paralympic medalist Stef Reid, Love Island ’s Liberty Poole, rugby legend Ben Foden, singer and dancer Regan Gascoigne and singer Rachel Stevens.

Brendan made the announcement on Loose Women today, stating that: “I’m so, so excited. It’s been a while coming now. I’ve known I’d be doing the show for quite some time and I want to get started, I’m so excited to be on the show.”

Talking about his ice-skating experience so far, he revealed: “I’ve had one go. I’m a fairly confident person and I like to think I’m going to be good at what I put my hand to or my feet to! I was thinking okay I’m going to be fine, I’m going to be out there and I was terrible. I was a bit wobbly. 

“You can expect to be a bit wobbly on ice but I was hoping I was going to be better than I was. I’ve got time to learn. I’m just going to embrace the whole experience and I’m very excited to get started.”

As well as being a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing for fifteen years and winning the first series, Brendan has gone on to judge New Zealand's Dancing with the Stars and has taken part in other TV shows such as SAS Who Dares Wins and The X Factor: Celebrity . He has also been a show regular on Good Morning Britain , Loose Women and It Takes Two .

He has also dipped his feet into the world of theatre as he has created and starred in his own stage productions over the years.

This news comes after judge John Barrowman will be replaced in the new series of Dancing On Ice .

Dancing On Ice 2022 will air on ITV early next year.

A Ballroom Reunion Not To Be Missed!

Strictly legends Brendan Cole , James Jordan , Pasha Kovalev , Vincent Simone and Ian Waite have announced they are to perform an 18-date UK tour together throughout October in a spectacular new show called Legends of The Dance Floor.

As legends of the Strictly dance floor, Brendan, James, Pasha, Vincent and Ian have all headlined their own solo tours, but never before have they all performed together as professionals on one stage – until now!

In what promises to be a nostalgic celebration of Latin, ballroom, tango, rumba and so much more, the dance stars will be joined by an incredible supporting cast as they take us on a journey through their illustrious careers and Strictly highlights while reminiscing on how they became your Legends of the Dance Floor.

Amongst their countless Strictly highlights, Vincent mesmerised us with his tango moves, Pasha appeared in three finals (winning one), Ian dazzled with his Pasa Doble, James’s ballroom skills and larger-than-life personality made him a Saturday night favourite and Brendan, of course never shied away from telling the judges what he really thought while remaining one of the most popular pros.

Who is Brendan Cole?

Brendan Cole is a 45-year-old ballroom dancer originally from Christchurch, New Zealand .

He started dancing at the age of six and went on to become a professional dancer after leaving school at the age of seventeen.

Like Anton du Beke, Brendan was one of the original professionals who joined Strictly Come Dancing when it launched in 2004.

His celebrity dance partners over the years included Kirsty Gallacher , Jo Wood , Kelly Brook , Anastacia and Lulu .

Strictly isn't the dancer's only taste of television, as he previously appeared on Celebrity Love Island where he became runner-up.

He has also appeared on Britain's Next Top Model, BBC's Just The Two Of Us and X-Factor All-Stars .

Why did brendan leave strictly.

During an interview with Lorraine Kelly on her daytime TV show in January 2018, Brendan announced he had been axed from the show .

Over the years Brendan also made headlines for his clashes with head judge Len Goodman , as well as bullying claims when he branded GMTV host Fiona Phillips "the worst partner he had ever had".

In February 2018, The Sun broke the news Brendan had been given the boot for dancing with Camilla Parker Bowles at Buckingham Palace.

Then in August 2018, it was revealed that Brendan is now "banned" from even going to watch the show .

While speaking again to Lorraine, the professional dancer revealed: "It’s quite hard to talk about, the BBC haven’t renewed my contract.

"They’ve made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show."

Although he didn't mention much else, there is a rumour to suggest the "real" reason he was axed from the show was down to Shirley Ballas being upset with him for rejecting her - although this has never been confirmed.

Zoe Hobbs is a 37-year-old model and lifestyle blogger.

The couple has been married since 2010 and has a daughter called Aurelia, who was born on Christmas Day in 2012.

Zoe then gave birth to the couple's second child , son Dante, in March 2018.

What is Brendan Cole's net worth?

Brendan has a reported net worth of around £3million.

After he was axed from Strictly it is estimated that his current assets were £357,000 with a post-tax profit of £71,000.

The dancer owns a two-bedroom cottage in Buckinghamshire worth around £350,000.

Dancing On Ice fans vented their frustrations during the grand final after Brendan Cole and Vanessa Bauer were awarded a ‘farcical’ perfect mark despite a tiny slip during their routine.

The competition reached its conclusion on Sunday night with Brendan competing against Kimberly Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne to be crowned the 2022 champion.

For the first routine of the evening from each couple, the duos took to the ice with dances choreographed by judges and skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean .

All three of the couples achieved straight tens across the board from Jayne, Christopher, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse , adding up to the perfect score of 40.

Brendan and Vanessa’s routine was based around a night at the opera, performing to the music of Bizet’s Carmen and shaped to reflect the 45-year-old’s career as a professional ballroom dancer.

However, despite its dramatic moves and confident execution, complete with the help of a troupe of backing skaters, viewers spotted a very small fumble when Vanessa was flipped over in the air between the pros and Brendan.

Another tweeted: ‘Really 40 for Brendan!! Are the judges watching the same thing I am? Two obvious mistakes. I’d have deducted at least half a point for each mistake/stumble.’

‘Should’ve been 9.5s!’ complained one fan, while another accused the judges of ‘pandering to him’ and called the scores ‘farcical’.

Some were keen to defend Brendan though, as well as his marks.

‘Nah the judges are giving 10s because th don’t want to seem unfair on the final because he stumbled it wasn’t a 10 I mean 9 or 9.5,’ reasoned one viewer.

The praise from the judges was unanimous, and when co-host Holly Willoughby mentioned the small slip, Christopher Dean laid the blame at the door of the ‘boys’, meaning the pro skaters, rather than Brendan, which he jokingly agreed with.

He added: ‘From the bad boy of ballroom to the mighty masterful matador. I think it was a part was made for you, you brought it to life.’

After each couple performed their favourite dance from the competition so far, the public vote saw Kimberly Wyatt and Mark Hanretty knocked out, with Brendan and Regan going on to perform their takes on the Bolero.

Dancing on Ice's Brendan Cole reveals his professional partner

"Let's do this partner!"

Dancing on Ice 2022 may be a few months away, but things are already shaping up behind the scenes.

Just days after the competition announced its line-up of professional skaters for the new series, contestant Brendan Cole has confirmed who he'll be taking to the ice with.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional shared his excitement on Instagram , as he and Vanessa Bauer shared joint posts about their new Dancing on Ice partnership.

"We're both incredibly excited about this new partnership and can't wait to go above and beyond to hopefully deliver some magic on the ice of you!" Brendan and Vanessa wrote in separate posts. "Let's do this partner!!!"

Promising a formidable pairing, Brendan later told fans to "watch this space" in an Instagram Stories video.

After sharing a glimpse of him and Vanessa training on the ice, Brendan revealed that he was "so excited" to be partnered with the pro. "I'm very, very lucky."

He added: "[She's] an incredible skater. I've loved watching her on the show over the years and I'm ecstatic. Watch this space, people."

While it's good news for Vanessa, her professional skating partner Hamish Gaman recently confirmed that he would no longer be a part of Dancing on Ice 's line-up.

"I'm sad to confirm that I'm not returning to Dancing on Ice this year. The producers told me that they weren't bringing me back because they wanted to freshen up the lineup," Hamish said in a statement.

"I was completely surprised by their decision and I've been left confused and struggling to make sense of everything that's happened. Vanessa and I are still skating partners and I'm devastated that we won't be skating together on the show anymore."

Dancing on Ice will return in 2022, airing on ITV.
