The major aim of this article is to provide you the information about  Phulkharka tourism and how Agro tourism is involved in Phulkharka. Phulkharka is a small and beautiful village, located about 135km northwest of Kathmandu. It lies in the northern part of Dhading district at an elevation of 3500 meters. Phulkharka is located at the foothills of Ganesh Himal and Mount Manaslu.

Phulkharka means ‘Flower Garden’. The Phulkharka village is occupied by diverse ethnic groups and races of people like Newar, Brahmin, Chhetri, Gurung, Magar, Damai, Kami, etc. You can see the unspoiled and authentic Nepalese lifestyle in this village.

This village lies on the border of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu so they have a mixed-race of Hindu and Buddhist communities. You can see awesome panoramic views of Ganesh Himal and other attractive natural scenes as well.

Agro Tourism, especially in Phulkharka village, is all about conventional rice farming. It begins in June/July and keeps going till October. People in this village are very friendly and cooperative.

During your trek to Phulkharka, you will be staying in a homestay lodge in one of the build-up houses. They are selected with their hygienic adaptation in daily life.  You will be spending a few days sightseeing.

This village was destroyed in the 2015 earthquake. Therefore, the Phulkharka Earthquake Village Trek 2016 has been introduced with the aim of supporting the national cause of Nepal known as ‘Nepal Earthquake- A change to rebuild’. 

Most researches show that Nepal is better lagging behind in rice production as compared to other leading rice-producing countries. It is just 3 tons/hectare. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and introduce new scientific methods and technologies for agriculture in Nepal.

Great retreat not to far from the city”

We stayed at Shivapuri Heights Cottage for 3 nights and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was all amazing, the food was fantastic, and the scenery was breathtaking. They arranged trekking for us along with massages, very easy and reasonably priced. The owner, Steve, was very helpful and personable. The cottage we stayed in was eclectic and fun.

This is a good place for a one night get away. The view is wonderful but it is a bit difficult to reach. Like the ad says you should pack lately. The staff was wonderful 5 stars bravo! The food was delicious. The cottage has Wi-Fi but only in the main lobby not in any of the rooms. We did the tented accommodation which was very nice. Over all a good place to get away for a night or two.

Spectacular View, Cozy Cottage, Delicious Nepalese Cuisine, Relaxing Spa, and Welcoming Staff”

I stayed at Shivapuri Heights Cottage with my sister in a room in the main Jasmine House that had a private attached bathroom. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious, the bed was clean and comfy, and the shower had plenty of hot water. We stayed for 4 nights to relax and to trek around Kathmandu Valley. Watching the sunrise with a fresh cup of coffee and breathing the fresh air was spectacular. Both the English and Nepalese food was amazing: egg curry and chicken lasagna being my favorite. The hike to a local monastery, Dadagaun Village School, and the Sleeping Vishnu temple was really special. The cooking lesson on how to make chicken momos with Chef JB was fun and delicious. I also enjoyed my manicure and pedicure at Neeru's spa. The dinner conversations by the fireplace were with the most interesting people from animal activists, adventurous mountain bikers, and fellow humanitarians. Neeru, Steve, and the staff are wonderful people and made my first trip to Nepal memorable. I recommend staying at the Shivapuri Heights Cottage for anyone traveling to Nepal who wants a spectacular view, cozy cottage, delicious Nepalese cuisine, easy affordable access to guides to take you on hikes or local tours, relaxing spa, and overall service with a smile.

Where to begin? Shivapuri Heights Cottage was by far one of the loveliest places I've been to! From the cozy cottages to the friendly staff, everything was excellent! This place is definitely a hidden gem! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, and scenic place to spend in Nepal - then this is your place! All of the cuisines, are home-made by the incredible chef! The hosts have two dogs: Indi and Honey - who are so loving and affectionate! This is definitely rare to say, but I can not think of a single thing we did not enjoy! Thank you again to those at Shivapuri Heights Cottage; we look forward to seeing you all again soon - Namaste!
