Breaking News
Arts | woman arrested for allegedly throwing ‘powdery substance’ on ct mall employee, arts | pete davidson slated to revive comedy tour at foxwoods. here are some fun facts for his anticipated return.
Here’s a recap of what Davidson’s been up to lately.
The Foxwoods show hasn’t been canceled
Saturday’s Foxwoods date is still scheduled, although many shows just before it were canceled. Last week it was announced that 12 shows on Pete Davidson’s comedy tour had been abruptly canceled. This included major stops such as New York City, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. The official reason given for the cancellations was “unforeseen circumstances,” with no other details.
The Connecticut date was spared and is the first one following the canceled dates. That heightens the enthusiasm, since it’s not just ending the hiatus but is Davidson’s first live show of 2024.
He’s 30 now
Pete Davidson was just 20 when he joined the cast of “ Saturday Night Live ” in 2014. That was a decade ago. Davidson turned 30 on Nov. 16.
He left ‘Saturday Night Live’ over a year and a half ago
Davidson’s last season on SNL was the 2021-22 one, his eighth on the show. He gave some farewell remarks on the “Weekend Update” segment of May 21, 2022. On Oct. 14, 2023, he returned to the show as its host.
He’s been keeping busy
While on “Saturday Night Live,” Davidson launched a notable movie career, starring in the quasi-autobiographical “King of Staten Island” and taking small roles in films as diverse as “Suicide Squad” (as a crude character killed off in an early scene) and “The Dirt” (as the record label nerd who signed Mötley Crüe). This year you could find him in “Dumb Money” (about the GameStop Wall Street finagling), in a brief role in “Good Burger 2,” and you can hear his voice in the cartoon “Freak Brothers” and the CGi-animated “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”
Then there’s his series “Bupkis” on NBC’s Peacock streaming channel. The first eight-episode season did well both critically and commercially, and the series has been picked up for a second season. Davidson both writes and stars in the series, inspired by his own experiences of becoming famous while remaining close to his family. His mother on the show is played by Edie Falco and his grandfather by Joe Pesci.
You might have caught him in TV ads for Smartwater, Taco Bell and Manscaped male grooming products.
Of course, he’s also been touring his live comedy act. The Foxwoods date is part of an extension of his 2023 tour.
When the cancellation of a dozen stops on his tour was announced, Davidson was on the set of the movie “Riff Raff,” a crime thriller whose other stars include Bill Murray, Gabrielle Union and Ed Harris.
He still insists on Yondr pouches
If you want to see Pete Davidson, you’ve got to give up your phone for a couple of hours.
The Foxwoods website reads “This event will be a phone-free experience. Use of phones, smart watches and accessories, will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smart watches and accessories will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times and can access them throughout the event only in designated phone-use areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space. Anyone seen using a device (phone, smart watch or accessories) during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.”
Many comedians insist on using the Yondr pouches so that their new material or perhaps some embarrassing moments don’t end up on the internet.
Davidson had an audience member at a November show ejected for brandishing a phone. According to the “Page Six” gossip site, Davidson swore at the phone holder from the stage, then announced that he paid $10,000 to ensure there were no phones at his shows.
A previous Connecticut show didn’t go so well
Davidson’s most recent Connecticut shows — at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven in November and Ridgefield Playhouse in August — went on without incident. But a 2019 gig at the Stress Factory in Bridgeport found Davidson ditching the venue as he was being introduced. Club owner Vinny Brand had been told not to do his own opening set since Davidson had brought his own opening act. Brand went onstage for five minutes to make announcements about not using phones and warned the crowd not to mention some recent relationships Davidson had with major celebrities. Brand has insisted that he was not making fun of Davidson or doing his comedy act. Whether it was a misunderstanding or some genuine friction, Davidson’s egress made national headlines. He promised to do a free show for the fans he’d left in the lurch.
You can contrast that incident with a recent Connecticut appearance Davidson made that was completely unexpected. At a Machine Gun Kelly concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in September, Davidson jumped onstage dressed like Kelly, then introduced the crowd to a guitar-wielding child who was also dressed like the rocker.
He’s been doing more shows at bigger places
While at “SNL,” Davidson was mostly playing large clubs or small theaters, such as a College Street Music Hall gig in 2019. Foxwoods’ Premier Theater can seat over 4,000 people, though the room can also be reconfigured at lower capacity for certain shows. Considering that Davidson has already played the 500-seat Ridgefield Playhouse and the 1,664-seat Shubert in recent months, that’s a lot of local demand for Pete Davidson.
Tickets are still available
As of Dec. 27, there were still some tickets on sale for the Jan. 6 Foxwoods Premier Theater show, ranging from $69 for standard admission to $203 for platinum-level seating. Foxwoods Resort Casino is located at 350 Trolley Line Boulevard in Uncasville. The website is foxwoods.com .

The Office follow-up series has found a home.
Peacock on Wednesday announced a formal series order for the untitled series that is set in the same universe as NBC’s former Emmy-winning Steve Carell comedy.

Video footage from 2016 shows sean "diddy" combs allegedly attacking ex-girlfriend cassie, john krasinski reveals what prop he "stole" from 'the office' set but has "always lied" about.
Here’s the formal logline: “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.” The untitled mockumentary, which arrives as ABC has found Emmy gold with Abbott Elementary , hails from the studio behind the former NBC favorite, Universal Television.
The comedy is executive produced by Daniels and Koman, alongside the creatives behind the U.K. original version of The Office, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille).
Details on roles that Impacciatore and Gleeson are playing are being kept under wraps given the huge expectations that come along with anything connected to The Office, though sources say Daniels and Koman have been casting a wide net to find talent availabilities for the latter half of this year.
As The Hollywood Reporter previously reported , The Office creator Daniels opened up a development room in early January to explore a new series that will be set in the same universe as the former NBC hit (itself a take on the British Gervais comedy). Daniels tapped Koman to co-create the project, which the prolific writer-producer does not consider to be a reboot of his 2005 mockumentary.
The new take on The Office comes at a busy time for Daniels, who recently scored a final season renewal for his Amazon comedy Upload. The prolific creator and producer is also reteaming with Mike Judge for a new season of his beloved animated comedy King of the Hill for Hulu. Together, the duo also have a wildly successful animation company with multiple series across a slew of streamers. Rumors surrounding a revival of The Office have swirled for years. In late 2017, NBC floated the idea of bringing The Office back with a fully fledged revival featuring Daniels at the helm and a new star taking over for Carell. Nothing came of that effort.

Pete Davidson and Colin Jost’s $34m plans for Staten Island Ferry features hotel rooms and six bars
It seems that plans for Pete Davidson and Colin Jost ’s decommissioned Staten Island Ferry are finally underway.
Back in January 2022, the Saturday Night Live comedians made headlines when they purchased the vessel for $280,000. The pair had teamed up with real estate agent and comedy club owner Paul Italia to purchase the boat, named the John F Kennedy, after it went up for auction.
Since then, it appeared that plans to turn the 277-foot-long boat into a “live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art, et cetera” had stalled. That is, until architect Ron Castellano confirmed that renovations on the Staten Island Ferry will begin soon.
In an interview with Curbed published on 22 March, Castellano - who owns the New York City-based architecture firm Studio Castellano - revealed exactly what fans can expect from the JFK Ferry project , which has a proposed floor plan of 65,000 square feet and a $34m budget, according to the firm’s website.
“It’s going to have a lot of things,” he told the magazine. “I think right now, we have six bars and two venues operated separately or combined. We have outdoor event space, we have restaurants - two restaurants.”
The fifth floor of the vessel will include 24 hotel rooms with private sundecks, but plans for a pool are still in the works. “A pool is something that keeps coming up. We’re going back and forth,” Castellano said. “There’s little jacuzzi kind of thing, but not a full-on pool. We’d have to do a floating pool.”
As far as Davidson and Jost’s role in the renovations, the architect explained that the Staten Island natives “have input” on everything. “We have meetings as needed, sometimes twice a week, sometimes every three months,” he said. “Right now, I’m trying to get the design work done as fast as possible.”
According to Castellano, a major key in renovating and designing the newly improved ferry is maintaining its original, retro aesthetic from when it was built in 1965. “We’re not going to trip it out with penny tile and awful fixtures - the stuff we see now in cruise ships. We’re taking what’s originally there and repurposing it,” he explained. “It’s still a work in progress, but it’s not going to be one of those awful casino boats.”
The partners have tentative plans to sail the vessel, which has the capacity to carry more than 3,000 passengers, along the eastern coast between New York City and Miami.
The King of Staten Island actor previously joked that he and Jost were “very stoned a year ago” when they joined a group of investors to place the winning bid for the ferry. He appeared to express his regret over purchasing the boat, which currently sits at a temporary dock in Staten Island.
“Hopefully it turns into a Transformer and gets the f*** out of there so I can stop paying for it!” Davidson told Entertainment Tonight in June 2023.
However, Jost later admitted that he was in fact “stone-cold sober” when they made the financial decision. In response to Davidson’s interview, the “Weekend Update” host commented on Instagram : “Is it worse that I was actually stone-cold sober when we bought the ferry?”
“We’re excited to prove the non-believers wrong,” Jost added. “You’re going to be BEGGING to get on this ferry in two years. Mark my words.”
