Ans: Located in Uttarkashi, Gangotri is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of river Bhagirathi, known for being one of the four sites in the Char (four) Dham circuit. It is well-known for the origin of the Holy River Ganges, Gangotri Temple, and natural beauty.

Ans: If you start your tour from Dehradun or Haridwar, it will take 3 days. If the tour starts from Delhi, then it will take 5 days to cover Gangotri Temple.

About Gangotri

Gangotri is one of the main religious tourist places among the Char Dham Chota Chardham pilgrimage circuit. Gangotri is located in Uttarkashi and also considered as the origin place of River Ganga. The history of Gangotri is centuries years old that says Goddess Ganga transformed herself into a river for making the forefathers of King Bhagiratha free from a curse after the years of penance by Bhagiratha. This popular pilgrim site is situated at an altitude of 3042m , emitting a highly pious aura. It keeps a very special place in Hindu pilgrims and must visit the place once in a lifetime.

The Ganga river originates from Gangotri Glacier and it is known as Bhagirathi until it merges with the Alaknanda River in Devprayag. Alaknanda and Bhagirathi join to form the mighty Ganga River in Devprayaga and from there it flows in its full force and known as Ganga.

The whole region is decorated with the snow-clad mountains in the vicinity and the pure crystal water of river Ganga. The place is mainly dominated by vegetarian food and Vaishnava culture which advocates a vegan lifestyle and very strict against non-vegetarian food and alcoholic drinks. The place is home to many beautiful temples and saints of the Hindu religion. The most prominent temple is the Gangotri Temple , dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Gangotri Temple opens at the end of the April month or first week of May and it gets closed at the time of Diwali in October or November. It remains closed for the rest of the year as the place is prone to heavy snowfall.

Gangotri along with Yamunotri , Badrinath , and Kedarnath forms the Chota Chardham which is a very important shrine of the Hindus and the visit or tour to these pilgrimage sites is known as Char Dham Yatra. Pilgrims usually take the whole yatra together which covers all the destinations of Char Dham Yatra. However , some tourist also takes Gangotri Tour particularly.

How to reach Gangotri

Gangotri is situated in the Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand , India. To reach Gangotri tourists use various modes like the train , air , buses , or taxi , etc.

By Air- Tourists who wish to come from the flights for them the Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport well-connected with all the major cities of the country is situated at a distance of 250 km from Gangotri town. On reaching to Airport they can hire private taxis or also can use the local transport buses etc for reaching Gangotri.

By Train- The nearest railway station is Rishikesh Railway station which is situated at a distance of 234 km on NH58 and is well connected by other major destinations of India. There are frequent trains to and from Rishikesh. After reaching Rishikesh Railway station tourists can take taxis or state transport buses to Gangotri which are easily available from there.

By Road- Gangotri is well connected with the fine network of roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state. Apart from this direct bus services To Rishikesh are also available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate , Delhi. One can also hire a direct taxi or private cab from Delhi to Gangotri.

Commuting Within Gangotri

Gangotri is a very small town and it can be travel on foot as the various destinations are on a walkable distance and people often travel more on foot as it is a pilgrimage center. Public transport also not that much developed as compared to other tourist destinations. However , you can take the public transport like state government buses , private buses and tourist taxis for commuting within the town.

Gangotri is a small holy town famous for the temple of Goddess Ganga , the temple and the origin of River Ganga from the Gangotri Glacier are the key destination for the pilgrims and tourists who make their way to Gangotri. Ganges Glaciers

The Glacier is situated at an altitude of 4238m above sea level which begins at Chakhambha and ends at Gaumukh. Bhagirathi river is result of melting this glacier and providing the pious water to the river. One can trek up the glacier for reaching Nandanvan , Tapovan and Gaumukh.

Gangotri Temple

Gangotri temple is dedicated to goddess Ganga which is in fact a river , but Hindu people worship the river as Goddess due to its offering to people of the plains. Water of Ganga provide life to many people of northern plains by providing an opulent amount of water which is used for agriculture , drinking water , and what not. The temple is constructed around 300 years ago by a Nepalese General , Amar Singh Thapa as a symbol of respect towards the goddess.

Kedar Tal is a natural Tal located at an altitude of 4425m above sea level. The Tal is formed naturally by the melted water of glacier. The view of the Tal and surrounding is breath-taking. Tourists usually like to visit the place by taking up the trek up the rolling hills spanning 18 km but before moving for the trek make sure to take a local guide along with you and prepare yourself for the trek before-hand.

Harsil is also a popular tourist attraction in Gangotri. In fact , it is a village famous for its apple orchards which are spread across the village. The place is located at an elevation of 2623m above sea level. The views are so picturesque all around the village and apple orchards are spread over an area of 72 km across the village. If you are visiting around Diwali festival , don’t forget to taste some fresh juicy apple from the orchard.

Dodi Tal is also a very famous lake situated at an altitude of 3204m. The lake is home to the famous Himalayan trouts. The lake has presence of little log cabins scattered around the lake for various activities such as trekking , camping , and resting , etc. One can obtain the permiot of fishing from the Divisional Forest Officer , Uttarkashi.

Auden’s Col

Auden’s Col is one of the highest mountains passes in the Garhwal Himalayas , which connects Rudragaira valley and Bhilangana valley by forming a bridge between the northwest ridge of Gangotri and ridge coming from Join on the east. Auden’s Col trek is one of the toughest trek for the ultimate adventure seekers , the trek was discovered in 1935 by John Bicknell Auden. The journey of the trek provides stunning views of the high peaks like the Rudragaira peak , Jogin group of peaks , Bhagirathi group of peaks , and Kedar Dome.

Gangotri Weather

Gangotri experience the same weather cycle as that in the rest of India. Summers begins in April and goes till the last week of May. After Summer , Monsoon lasts from June to September. November to February happens to be the period of Winter in Gangotri with an opulent amount of snowfall and cold breezes. However , the only difference between the weather of plains and here in Gangotri is that , Gangotri experiences lower temperatures than the corresponding temperature in the plains. It is evident by the fact that the summer here is equivalent to the spring season of the plains as the day time temperature doesn’t go beyond 30 degrees Celsius.

Gangotri is located on high altitude and also a sacred place for Hindu Pilgrims. Hence , tourists need to keep some following things into consideration once they are traveling to this naturally and spiritually beautiful place.

Cameras are allowed in the Himalayas but normally restricted inside the temples , please confirm from the concerned authorities.
Try to carry a BSNL SIM as it will provide you good connectivity in comparison with any other network providers.
Gangotri temple remains closed in winter due to the high possibility of frequent snowfall during that time. Hence , pilgrims and tourists need to plan their travel accordingly.
Try to keep your luggage as light as possible because you will be traveling to high altitude areas that can leave you exhausted.
Non-Vegetarian food and any kind of alcoholic drink are big no here.

Harsil – Gangotri Trip | Most Common Itineraries [Day-By-Day Plans]

Are you planning a trip to Harsil and Gangotri and looking out for some day by day itinerary to travel to these beautiful places of Garhwal in Uttarakhand?

Perched in the Himalayas in Uttarakhand – both Harsil and Gangotri are important and integral stops for pilgrimage and natural beauty seekers! Harsil is especially scenic and gains immense popularity due to its proximity to many stunning places in the region.

Gangotri, in itself, needs no introduction. A revered Hindu pilgrimage site, Gangotri is a must-visit – even if you’re not super religious. The healing powers of nature here will make you believe in the magic of the valley!

So whether you want to visit the places on a long weekend or plan an elaborate itinerary for the region – I have you covered. Keep reading below.

About Harsil & Gangotri

Harsil is fenced in its majestic location by snow-capped mountains and coniferous & deodar forests Gangotri, on the other hand, is the location of a sacred Hindu temple, worshipping the ever-important Goddess Ganga. And, it is one of the four temples in the Chota Char Dham circuit .

Gangotri temple is open for six months every year, due to the intense climate in the winter season! When visiting Gangotri or Harsil – there’s a lot to cover nearby and let me describe the most prominent places for you in detail. As an important note, the idol of Goddess Ganga shifted from Gangotri to Mukhba village during winters.

Best time to visit Harsil & Gangotri

Harsil is accessible throughout the year. However, Gangotri is closed in the winter season. Keeping this in mind, April, May, and September are the best time to visit Harsil and Gangotri. November is overall a bad month because the scenery at this time is turning colors and doesn’t provide the best of the region.

It will be terribly cold, but, unfortunately, there won’t even be any snow around. If you’re planning a motorcycle trip – June and September are the best months. If you have trek on your mind then May, June, October make for a good bet. Remember it is important to avoid the region in the monsoon season as the hills tend to be frail with landslides abound.

How to reach Harsil

Harsil is well-connected by road and there are airport and railway station options within 200 km. Particularly, Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun is situated 230 km from Harsil. And, the nearest railway station is Rishikesh – 215 KMs away.

The best option is to drive down to Harsil . Well connected by road, Harsil lies on NH 108 and regular buses to Rishikesh/ Dehradun are easily available. Upon reaching these places, one will need to change buses to reach Harsil.

Road Conditions for Harsil and Gangotri

Following is the breakdown of road conditions for the trip:

Dheeraj Sharma

Delhi – Muzaffarnagar: Well maintained for most parts. Might reach bumpy corners near Modi Nagar
Muzaffarnagar – Roorkee – Haridwar – Rishikesh : Single-lane road in most places, lot of traffic and mix of good + excellent condition road barring few patches.
Rishikesh – Chamba – Dharasu: Most well mettle. Few patches are rough.
Dharasu – Uttarkashi – Bhatwari: Few landslides points in between the route. However, other portions are also a mix of good and bad. Best to keep an eye out.
Bhatwari – Sukhi Top – Harsil: 5-6 water crossings and slush stretches.
Harsil – Dharali – Bhairon Ghati – Gangotri: Mostly bad roads. Some very bad road sections after Bhairon Ghati with a couple of water crossings.

Places of Interest on this trip

With a lot to do in and around the region – here is a breakdown of all the important places you can cover when in the region.

Harsil is perched at an elevation of 2623 meters and is populated by the cultural group of Bhutiyas and some Jadhs. The village has apple orchards for as long as 70 Kms! That kind of view is not only uncommon but damn near rare! Harsil is around 25 KMs from Gangotri temple and makes for an ideal pit stop in the region.

An integral part of the Gangotri National Park , Harsil is classified as an army area. The perfect friend for the town is the Bhagirathi river, which gives this sleepy town more life, more color and allows you the luxury of taking things at your own pace. Scanning the landscape of Harsil, you’ll be able to spot many temples in the town nestled in between the forests of Deodar, Pine, and Oak trees.

A place needing no introduction, Gangotri is the reverential Dham for it is the home of Goddess Ganga. A place where the holiest river originates has to be a beautiful and peaceful spot- and it is.

There is a beautiful temple at a height of 3048 Meters which is a lifetime wish of most Hindus to visit. Gangotri is located at a distance of 20 km from Harsil. The place is more than worth a visit as the cascading games of the Himalayas and the Bhagirathi rivers will leave you speechless.

If you haven’t had enough of the views and want to discover the region further, I highly recommend staying overnight in Gangotri and return to Harsil the next day. Although, I should inform you here that most people would cover Gangotri and return to Harsil in the same day. Also, it should be noted that you will not have the luxury to visit the region in the winter season as the place is engulfed in snow and the idol is moved to its winter abode of Mukhba.

Also known as Mukhwas and Mukhwa, this hamlet is approximately a kilometer from Harsil. When Gangotri is closed for the winter, the idols are shifted down to the Ganges temple in Mukhba for a few months. In fact, I recommend taking an evening stroll when you’re in Harsil and check out the place.

Dharali is located merely 2 km from the Harsil village and is adorned with beautiful apple orchards. Another thing you must note is that Dharali is famous for its high snow-walls in winters and it is one of the places which you can visit to see snowfall near Delhi in Uttarakhand . The place is tied with many mythologies – including Bhagirath meditating here to wish for Ganga to flow from heaven to Earth.

If you plan on staying in Gangotri, I urge you to visit Gaumukh. Taking about 2 days, this trek will cover about 35 KMs and you will reach a maximum altitude of 13,200 ft. This will take you to the exact place of the origin of the Ganga. And, truly Gaumukh is a sight to behold . Plan accordingly. However, I must mention that you should be fairly fit to cover this journey. If you have more time to spare for this trip – I would tell you to also visit Tapovan.

Sattal Trek near Harsil (Sat Taal)

Situated about 5 km from Dharali – Harsil, Sattal is a body of 7 lakes (Sat = Seven, Tal = Lake). The mysterious lake trek will truly blow your mind, you will be greeted by some stunning flora and fauna. Given the short distance, you can easily cover the journey in a day’s time!

The lakes are all at different altitudes, with Mridunga Tal at 9,600 ft. and Bakria Tal at 10034 Ft. The other lakes are located in between these two. The remainder two lakes are at higher altitudes and requires a longer time duration to visit them all as you will need to be properly acclimatized .

Please note that this Sattal trek is different from the Sattal Lake in Kumaon near Nanital.

Day by Day Itinerary for Harsil – Gangotri Trip

Let us look at few itineraries for planning a trip to Harsil and Gangotri.

3 Days Itinerary – Weekend Trip to Harsil Gangotri

Depending on the time you have available, you can cover the two places at ease or quickly on a weekend. Here’s how.

Day 1 – Delhi to Harsil

Start your journey off early and reach Harsil by evening. Other places you can cover include the Wilson Cottage , or better yet – spend some time at the banks of the Bhagirathi river.

Day 2 – Harsil – Gangotri – Mukhba – Harsil

Long day for you – and I suggest you start off early in the morning. Cover the 25 km distance to Gangotri, taking about 90 minutes. Spend the afternoon in Gangotri. On the way back, go for an evening stroll and cover Mukhba. Spend a leisurely night at Harsil.

Day 3 – Harsil to Delhi

Head back to Delhi. Keep in mind that this will be a very rushed trip and most of your time will get spent on the road. We have done this trip before and documented it for you .

Harsil – 4 Days Itinerary

Adding an additional day to your itinerary will help you cover more places. However, like the 3-day trip – even this will be a bit cramped and can be tiring.

Day 1 Delhi to Harsil

Reach Harsil from Delhi with the same route as the 3 Day itinerary. Relax and rejuvenate.

Day 2 – Sightseeing in Harsil – Dharali, Mukhba, Sattal Trek

Here’s where your plan differs slightly. Instead of heading out to Gangotri, cover key places in and near Harsil such as the Dharali, Mukhba, and Sattal Trek. Again, have a relaxing dinner in Harsil.

Day 3 Harsil – Gangotri – Harsil

Reach Gangotri from Harsil in the morning. Spend the afternoon here and cover nearby places to Gangotri. Explore the region more and return by evening.

Day 4 – Harsil to Delhi

Return to Delhi from Harsil.

5-6 Days Itinerary of Gangotri and Harsil

If you can spare the time and plan properly, this is the way to go.

Day 1 – Delhi to Uttarkashi

Instead of reaching Harsil directly, you may stopover at Uttarkashi and cover the remainder of the journey the next day. I like breaking long road trips in this manner as it ensures I reach my destination well-rested ! Also, it affords me an additional day of exploring a new place that was not on my list when planning the vacation.

Day 2 – Uttarkashi to Harsil – Sightseeing in the Village

Reach Harsil and spend a relaxing day exploring the village and understanding the culture. There are some beautiful walks from around the orchards that will definitely put you in the Uttarakhandi lifestyle!

Day 3 – Sat Taal Trek and move on to Gangotri

Cover the Sattal lake trek – covering at least 5 of the 7 lakes. After you’ve had your fill – move on to Gangotri and spend the night there.

Day 4 and 5 – Gangotri to Gaumukh and back to Harsil

Visit the Gangotri temple early in the morning and start your trek towards Gaumukh – the origin of Ganga . Return the next day from this trip. Maybe you being a novice trekker should take three days to complete the trek from Gangotri to Gaumukh and back to Gangotri.

Return to Delhi from Harsil in a day’s drive.

Additional Days – Consider Nelong!

If you can add another day to your trip, I suggest you may visit Nelong Valley. However, this will need required permits which takes some days of travel too. Day 1 : Haridwar – Barkot (210 kms / 6 – 7 hrs )

After hearty breakfast at hotel, check-out from the Haridwar between 7:00 – 8:00 AM and proceed to Barkot via Mussoorie. En-route experience the exquisiteness of Kempty falls and beautiful hills. On arrival check-in to the hotel in Barkot for Overnight stay with Dinner.

Haridwar: Haridwar means “Hari Ka Dwar” or the “gateway to the almighty Lord”. Belongs to the Jagatpalak “Vishnu”, this place is highly auspicious where you feel the real divine power and spirituality. Located on the banks of River Ganges, this is the one of holiest destination for organizing the Kumbh. Also, it’s the place having the most auspicious Har Ki Pauri which belongs to the Saint god Bharathi, and the King Vikarma (belongs to Vikram Vetal). Therefore, it’s the place you must visit for at least once.

Barkot Weather: The sweat summer has the temperature range between 25 to 30 degree Celsius. During the winter, the temperature may go down to 5 to 10 degree Celsius though, but you may feel pleasantly cool during the day time.

Day 2 : Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot ( 42 kms drive / 6 kms trek)

Yamunotri Temple: This most auspicious temple belongs to the Goddess Yamuna. As per belief, she is the daughter of God Son and the sister of Yam and Lord Shani. Therefore, doing the worship here gives you a lot more than the feelings of real spirituality and Divine power. Here, you get the blessing of courage and confidence. Also, the fear of facing difficulties and getting death moves away from you. In addition to, the “Lord of Justice” Shani forgives your bad Karmas or gives you very lesser punishment during the Sadhe-Sati and Dhaiya Period.

Surya Kund: This hot water spring belongs to the Sun God. It’s one of the naturally very hot water Kund, therefore, if you are visiting here for the very first time, you may get it a bit difficult to have a dip here, but things get normal automatically later on. Taking the holy dip here washes out all your sins, and generates the divine nature in you. Also, devotees Potatoes and Rice here with the temperature of this Water. They offer that to the temple.

Divya Shila: This holy stone pillar is near the Yamunotri temple and the Surya Kund. This 3000 m tall stone pillar is so much auspicious that before entering the Yamunotri temple, devotees must worship the holy pillar.

Yamunotri Weather: During summer, the temperature ranges between 10 to 18 degrees Celsius, and the day times are very pleasant, however, but you may feel the nail-biting cold at night.

Day 3 : Barkot – Uttarkashi ( 100 kms / 5 – 6 hrs)

Depart from Barkot hotel between 9 AM to 10 AM and proceed the drive towards Uttarkashi. The route will make you fall in love for hills and the surroundings of green mountains. On arrival at Uttarkashi, check-in at the hotel and fresh n up. Evening visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple & Uttarkashi market according to time. Return back to hotel for Dinner & Overnight stay.

Uttarkashi: “Uttarkashi” the dev Bhoomi which literally means “Kashi of the north” is one of the holy places in Hinduism. In addition, to have natural and devotional beauty, here you have lots of fun adventurous activities to enjoy. Dodital lake, Nicheketa Lake, Dodital Dayara Pass Trek, Dayara Bugyal trek are some of the famous attractions to visit here. Therefore, you must visit this place at least once.

Vishwanath temple: This holy temple is in the name of Lord Shiva, and full of amazing wonders. For example, there’s a Trishul which is 8 foot 9-inch-long and has 26 feet height. Also, inside the temple, there is a Shivlinga which is 56 cm high and having an elevation towards the south. As per belief, the tour to Gangotri is incomplete without visiting this temple, and therefore, this temple is highly important. Out of the temple, there is Nandi Baba guarding the temple premises. As per belief, in this right now, it’s the only place where Lord Shiva is present in his Swyambhu Shivlinga form.

Shakti Temple: The Shakti temple of Uttarkashi is one of the famous and holy temples in Hinduism. This temple directly belongs to Mata Shakti. Therefore, a place where Mata herself listens to you and helps you. Inside the temple, there is a trident that is 6 m tall, and 90 cm in diameter. Uttarkashi Weather: Very hot summer season having the temperature between 30 to 35 degrees Celsius, but at night, you may feel the pleasantly cool weather.

Day 4 : Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi ( 100 kms / 3 – 4 hrs each side)

Early morning leave the hotel for Gangotri Ji darshan. Drive to Gangotri sharp at 5 AM, en-route visit Gangnanione. One can take a holy dip in Tapt Kund (Hot Spring). Further drive towards Gangotri via charming Harsil Valley. Harsil famed for its natural prettiness and for the majestic views of the Deodar trees and mountains. By reaching at Shree Gangotri Ji, take the holy dip in sacred river Ganges, which called in the name of Bhagirathi on its origin. Perform Pooja and Darshan at the temple, then relax for some time in the pretty environs. Later drive back to Uttarkashi hotel for Overnight stay.

Gangotri Temple: This holy temple belongs to the goddess Ganga. She is the Goddess of Moksha. Therefore, if she gets happy with you, you get yourself free from all your sins. Also, she makes your soul free from the cycle of life and death. With her blessing, you get a permanent respectful position in heaven. Therefore, it’s the place where you must visit. It’s the place where the goddess Ganga came first when Lord Shiva released her from his hair lock. It was Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa who constructed this temple in the 18th Century, on the bank of river Bhagirathi.

Gangotri Weather: During the summer season, the maximum temperature can reach 20 degrees Celsius during the day times, and at night, the temperature may fall down to 10 degrees Celsius, and the weather gets chillier. During winter, weather becomes life-threatening, and also heavy snowfall blocks the pathway. Therefore, the pathway remains closed during the season.

Day 5 : Uttarkashi – Haridwar ( 210 kms / 7 – 8 hrs )

Morning after breakfast, depart from the hotel for Haridwar. En-route visit Rishikesh according to time. On arrival at Haridwar final drop at the guest place for the onwards journey

Day 01: haridwar – syanachatti.

Upon arrival at Haridwar, one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations for Hindus you are greeted by our representative. After spending a few hours at Haridwar’s famous ‘Har-ki-Pauri’ Ghat, we proceed towards Syana Chatti via Hanuman Chatti and Mussoorie. We halt at Mussoorie for some time to have lunch. The enchanting beauty of the hill station of Mussoorie & the serene ambiance exhilarates your mind and body. Post lunch we proceed towards Syanachatti, a serene picturesque village of Uttarakhand located on Barkot-Yamunotri road. We put up at Syanachatti for the night.

Day 02: Syanachatti – Yamunotri – Syanachatti

Next day early morning we start out trek towards Yamunotri. Distance to be covered is 21 kms. On reaching Yamunotri Dham, a temple belonging to Goddess Yamuna, we pay our obeisance at the lotus feet of the River Goddess. We also take a dip in the River Yamuna which is believed to free one from the fear of death and mortality. After completing Darshan and Puja we trek back to Syanachatti for a night stay.

Day 03: Syanachatti – Uttarkashi

Next morning post breakfast we hit the road for Uttarkashi, a beauteous town cradled amid the folds of Garhwal Himalayas. Uttarkashi stands for ‘Kashi of the North’ and is famed enough for the holy Vishwanath temple. This ancient and beautiful town is dotted with many natural springs and lakes. Upon arrival at Uttarkashi, you are transferred to the hotel for night halt.

Day 04: Uttarkashi – Gangotri

Next morning post breakfast, we make a by-road journey to Gangotri. On reaching the holy Gangotri Dham you are transferred to hotel for rest and freshening up. In the evening, we set out to have a Darshan of Goddess Ganga enshrined within her temple abode at Gangotri. On your visit to the temple in the evening, you could take part in the evening Ganga Aarti. You could even consider sprinkling upon you few drops of the holy waters of River Ganga. After completing Darshan we return to the hotel for dinner and night halt.

Day 05: Gangotri – Uttarkashi

Next day after breakfast, we drive back to Uttarkashi. Upon reaching, we retire to the hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 06: Uttarkashi – Haridwar

Weighing at the time of boarding the helicopter is a must, since the company shall not allow boarding in case the total weight exceeds the weight limitation of the helicopter. And, due to the same reason, in case of more than 01 available aircraft, we reserve the right to shuffle passengers between different groups to manage the right weight of helicopters for safe flying in the hills.
While changing the helicopter at Kedarnath or Guptkashi/Phata/sitapur the waiting time is between 10 mins to 3 hrs. depending on Shuttle slots / weather conditions or technical reasons or ground situations.
Rescheduling of booking to a next date will be done subject to availability and on payment of 10% of the cost. This will be permitted only if applied 7 days before journey date. In case the rescheduling is requested with less than 7 days to the journey then booking will be treated as cancelled and a fresh booking will be given subject to availability.
If due to any reasons beyond our control like bad weather conditions, flood, Pandemic, riots, political unrest, bandhs, or any other natural or man-made misfortunes, program will have needed to be changed or extended. The additional expenditure for the same will have to be borne by the passengers directly.
In case of charter getting cancelled due to bad weather or any other reasons on the date of your travel, the booking will not be revalidated for the next day. Refund as per the refunds/cancellations policy, with no further obligation of Company whatsoever. Any kind of inconvenience caused because of cancellation of flights is beyond the control of the operator. No compensation, reimbursement or arrangements shall be offered in the event of cancellation of a flight.
Our company shall not be liable for any medical emergency on the ground to the party. Therefore, in your own interest, guests are hereby advised to kindly consult a doctor and get medical check-up done, before commencing the yatra. Medical check-up is mainly required if a guest has any medical suffering/condition.
In case the journey is not finished within the stipulated time and passengers are not able to visit one or more Dhams due to bad weather conditions/technical reasons then the company will try to visit all places within the stipulated time. Although if this is not possible then the liability of the company will be limited to refund of unutilised sector/s.
100% refund shall be applicable in case the entire tour gets cancelled due to any Force Majeure reason, minus flight preparation charges of INR 2,500 Per Person Per Sector and any additional services provided to guests.
Where bad weather, technical snags or any force majeure reason beyond company control results in the cancellation of the flight being delayed or cancelled, Company will not be liable in any way for the cancelled or delayed flight. However, refund will be given to clients as per the refunds policy. Any kind of inconvenience caused because of cancellation of flights is beyond the control of the operator. No compensation or reimbursement for accommodation, transportation, meals or any other travel expenses done by the guests shall be offered in the event of cancellation of a flight.

Disputes, if any, are to be settled by Courts in Dehradun who will have the Jurisdiction in this regard

Cancellation Policies

If the reservation is cancelled 30 days prior to the date of arrival - 90% may be refunded
If the reservation is cancelled 15 days prior to the date of arrival - 50% of the may be refunded
If the reservation is cancelled 07 days prior to the date of arrival - 25% of the may be refunded
If the cancellation is any later than the above stated period or in case of 'No Show'- No Refund
No refund or any changes will be accepted at last minute for tour starting or after starting or middle of the tour.
Above are the cancellation rules but we will put our best possible effort to waive/minimize the cancellation charges

Things to Carry

If you’re planning on embarking on a do dham yatra by helicopter with Bhaktikaro, it’s important to come prepared with the right gear and clothing. Make sure to bring a backpack, trekking shoes or sports shoes, a trekking pole or stick, an LED torch, and two water bottles (one liter each). For clothing, pack a jacket, three warm layers, two pants (one to wear and one to carry), two collared t-shirts, and thermals. Don’t forget accessories like sunglasses, sunscreen lotion (SPF 50/70), lip balm (SPF 30), a sun cap, and synthetic hand gloves. Bring two pairs of woolen socks, a raincoat or poncho, and a daypack (20 liters) for your essentials. Don’t forget toiletries, a plastic cover for wet clothes, and any basic medications you may need (or prescribed medications, if applicable).

1 Day :- Arrive Dehradun (7:00 AM Departure for Sahastradhara Helipad)

We will alight on our journey to Yamunotri from Dehradun. Please ensure that you reach the helipad well in advance of the departure time at 7.00 am. Because before the journey initiates, a session is conducted by Pilot and ground staff to make the travelers acquainted with the dos and don’ts of the trip. Any queries you have will be duly answered.

1 Day :- 08:00 AM Arrival at Kharsali Helipad

Yamunotri shrine is located at an altitude of 3291 m above sea level. The helipad is located at Kharsali. Once you alight at Kharsali Helipad, we would warmly usher you into the next phase of the journey. Palkis will be arranged to let you travel the rest of stretch- a distance of 5.5 km. After enjoying the darshan of Yamuna Maa at Yamunotri, one can return to the helipad in the same palki. The round trip is estimated to take around 5 hours.

1 Day :- 01:30 PM Departure from Kharsali Helipad to 02:00 PM Arrival at Harsil Helipad

Within half an hour of the helicopter journey, we will reach the picturesque town of Harsil. Our representative will assist you to the nearby Resort where a sumptuous meal awaits you. After the lunch, one will be driven to Gangotri shrine. It will take about 45 min- 1 hour to cover the 24 km stretch from the helipad till the temple.

1 Day :- 04: 05 PM Gangotri to Harsil Drive and 05: 00 PM Harsil to Dehradun Helipad

After a blissful darshan, we will take you back to Dehradun Helipad from where the journey began in the morning. The auspicious day would have left your heart and mind full of memories of a wondrous day.

The major destinations covered are Haridwar, Barkot, Uttarkashi, Hanumanchatti, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Rishikesh, and Harsil. Delhi - Haridwar (205 kms/6hrs)

On arrival at Delhi airport/ railway station, meet our representative who will be there for your welcome and afterwards, to drive you to Haridwar, which is about 205 kms away and takes around 6 hours. On reaching, check in at the already booked hotel, evening join Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Peri, overnight stay at Hotel.

Haridwar – Barkot (220kms/7hr)

Morning drive to Barkot via Dehradun and Mussoorie. On the way, we will stop to visit Kempty Fall. Thereafter, we will continue our drive to Barkot. On arrival, check in at pre-booked hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Barkot is small town in Uttarkashi District in Uttarakhand state in India. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, it is one of the popular destinations for holidaying and experience realm adventure by engaging in trekking and other such adventure activity?

Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (42 kms drive + 06 Kms trek per way)

Morning drive to Janki Chatti, upon arrival we will start trekking to Yamunotri, which is about 6 kms distance by horse or walk as per your tour package. On reaching Yamunotri, we will head to Yamunotri Temple for darshan. Thereafter, we will start trek down to Janki Chatti, meet to driver and drive back to Barkot and have a stress free overnight stay.

Yamunotri is located at a height of 3,293 metres in the Garhwal Himalayas. It is one of the four sites in India's Chhota Char Dham pilgrimage and the source of the Yamuna River. The place is famous for its Yamunotri temple, the seat of the Goddess Yamuna.

Barkot – Uttarkashi (82 Kms 04 Hrs)

Morning drive to Uttarkashi, which is about 82 kms away and takes around 04 hours to reach. On reaching, check in at the already booked hotel. The evening is free for visiting Kashi Vishwanth Temple & Shakti Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Uttarkashi is a town in Uttarakhand, India. It is situated on the banks of Bhagirathi River at a height of 1352 m above sea level. The place is known for housing many temples and ashrams.

Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 kms / 04 hrs per way)

Today we will start our day a bit early in the morning and leave for a day tour to Gangotri via Harsil. On reaching, we will visit Gangotri temple for offering prayers and darshan. Later, we will drive back to our hotel in Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.

Gangotri is a famous Hindu pilgrim centre located on the banks of the river Bhagirathi in Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand state in India. It is known for holding Gangotri Temple that is believed to be the origin place of holy River Ganges.

Uttarkashi – Rishikesh (167 Kms 05 Hrs)

We will again start our day a bit early in the morning and check out from the hotel in Uttarkashi to drive to Rishikesh. On reaching, check in the already booked hotel, Evening visit Laxman Jhoola & Ram Jhoola overnight stay Hotel.

Iowa State will play its first-ever football game outside of the United States when it opens the 2025 season against Kansas State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, August 23, 2025, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

Senate Approves Bill to Reauthorize F.A.A. and Improve Air Travel

The Senate also passed a short-term extension of the current F.A.A. law to give the House time to clear the longer-term package early next week.

The Senate on Thursday passed legislation to reauthorize federal aviation programs for the next five years and put in place new safety measures and consumer protections for passengers, at a moment of intense uncertainty and disruption in the air travel system.

The bill , which still must win final approval in the House before becoming law, would provide more than $105 billion to the Federal Aviation Administration and another $738 million to the National Transportation Safety Board for airport modernization, technology programs and safety. It would also bolster the hiring and training of air traffic controllers, codify airlines’ refund obligations to passengers, ensure fee-free family seating and strengthen protections for passengers with disabilities.

“Aviation safety has been front of mind for millions of Americans recently, and this F.A.A. bill is the best thing Congress can do to give Americans the peace of mind they deserve,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the majority leader, said on the Senate floor on Thursday evening.

It passed in an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 88 to 4, just one day before the current law is scheduled to lapse. The Senate also unanimously approved a short-term extension to allow time for the House to take up and clear the longer-term package next week, a step that would send it to President Biden.

The legislation is a bipartisan compromise negotiated over months by the Senate and House committees with jurisdiction over the F.A.A., after Congress authorized several short-term extensions of the agency when lawmakers failed to meet earlier deadlines. The House passed its version of the bill almost a year ago in a lopsided vote of 351 to 69.

Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington, chairwoman of the Commerce Committee, celebrated the bill’s provisions on consumer protections, aviation safety, air traffic controllers, airport infrastructure and work force development on the floor after passage.

“This is a big moment for aviation,” Ms. Cantwell said. “We have had safety issues and concerns that we need to make a big investment. This legislation is that investment — in safety standards, in protecting consumers and advancing a work force and technology that will allow the United States to be the gold standard in aviation.”

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the top Republican on the Commerce Committee, said: “This legislation is a strong, bipartisan, bicameral bill that includes hundreds of priorities for senators and representatives, both Republican and Democrat. This bill gives the FAA the safety tools it needs at a critical time.”

As one of the few remaining bills considered a must-pass item this year, the F.A.A. package, which prompted several regional disputes, became a magnet for dozens of amendments and policy riders that threatened to delay it in the Senate.

With the legislation threatening to stall, the House on Wednesday approved a one-week extension for the F.A.A. before leaving Washington for the weekend. The Senate followed suit on Thursday, steering around lingering disputes that had threatened to scuttle the effort and cause a brief lapse for the F.A.A.

The debate came at a time of acute uncertainty about the aviation system, which has had a recent spate of concerning episodes such as dangerous near collisions on runways, plane malfunctions and thousands of flight delays and cancellations.

It was unclear for much of Thursday whether the Senate would be able to push through the legislation and the extension, as senators demanded votes on amendments or threatened to block speedy passage. No amendments were ultimately brought to a vote.

The most intense regional fight was over a provision in the bill that would add five round-trip long-haul flights out of Ronald Reagan National Airport outside Washington. Proponents, which include Delta Air Lines, have said they want to expand access to the nation’s capital and increase competition.

The proposal incensed lawmakers representing the area , who argued that the airport maintains the busiest runway in the country and cannot support additional flights. Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner of Virginia and Benjamin L. Cardin and Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, all Democrats, filed an amendment to strike the new flights.

Mr. Kaine and Mr. Warner threatened to hold the bill up if they did not receive a vote. But Mr. Cruz blocked an effort to bring up a compromise amendment that would have given the transportation secretary the final say on new flights after considering any effects they would have on delays and passenger safety.

“The Senate abdicated its responsibility to protect the safety of the 25 million people who fly through D.C.A. every year,” Mr. Kaine and Mr. Warner said in a statement. “Some of our colleagues were too afraid to let the experts make the call. They didn’t want to show the American people that they care more about a few lawmakers’ desire for direct flights than they care about the safety and convenience of the traveling public. That is shameful and an embarrassment.”

The senators from Virginia and Maryland were the only votes against the bill.

Another group of senators failed to secure a vote on a proposal to halt the Transportation Security Administration’s expansion of facial recognition technology at airports and restrict it where it is in use.

Senators had also proposed adding a number of unrelated bills, including one that would compensate people harmed by exposure to the nation’s nuclear weapons program , legislation to fully fund the replacement of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, and a credit card competition measure. Senators Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, and Richard Blumenthal, Democrat of Connecticut, were pushing for a vote on their bill to protect minors online into Thursday. None of them made it into the final product.
