Paulina was our guide and she was simply amazing. Her knowledge and expertise around the history of Rome and the sites we visited was exceptional. She was so sweet and kind, and it felt like being on a tour with a close friend. She took us places we never would have journeyed to had we not been on the tour. This was the perfect way to see Rome in a shorter period of time with my 73yo mother. The walking would have been a bit much for her, so this tour was a fantastic approach. We absolutely recommend this tour and Paulina to anyone considering booking! Well worth it. And at the end she wrote down some of her favorite places for food, coffee and gelato…none of which disappointed! Thank you Paulina! -Maria_L ( see more reviews )

Our guide Alice was a joy–she navigated the winding, crowded, Saturday night streets of Rome with skill. This is a wonderful way to get the lay of the land of Rome–the tour passes by so many big areas (Colosseum, Spanish Steps) as well as neat, less known ones (the Monti area) that we wished it had been our first night in Rome rather than last. And the joy of seeing all these places lit up for the night was immeasurable–they are breathtakingly beautiful at night, and aside from the effect of riding over all those cobblestones(!), this is the best way I can think of to see the city. There is an immediacy to seeing it from a golf cart, too–and yes, there are seat belts! -Kathleen_S ( see more reviews )

Tips for Taking a Golf Cart Tour in Rome

Before you embark on this unique adventure, here are some essential tips to enhance your golf cart tour experience in Rome.

✅ Book ASAP 📅

The best golf cart tours in Rome are booked up super fast! So, book now! Most of the time, they allow full cancellation up to 24 hours in advance if booked on Viator.com .

✅ Dress Appropriately 👚🧢

Rome’s weather can be quite warm during the summer. Wear comfortable clothing , sunglasses, and a hat. Always carry water with you. During the winter, make sure to dress in layers and have a jacket or a coat because it is open-air and can be quite breezy. And women if you think you might be stepping foot into a church make sure to have those shoulders covered. I recommend carrying a shawl or scarf in your purse that way you are always prepared while in Italy.

✅ Comfortable Shoes 👟

Even though you’ll be using a golf cart, there will be instances where you’ll need to get off the cart to explore an attraction, walk into a restaurant, or simply stretch your legs. Comfortable walking shoes will make these moments more pleasant. Rome’s streets and alleys, especially in the historic center, are often made of cobblestones. These can be uneven and sometimes slippery. Good shoes with a solid grip will help prevent trips, slips, or falls.

✅ Tipping 💶

In Rome, people don’t always tip, but it’s nice to do so for tours. For golf cart tours, you can give 10-20% of what the tour costs if it’s a small group. For bigger groups, €5-€10 for each person is okay. You might give a bit more if the guide is great or the tour is long. It’s best to give tips in cash directly to the guide.

There are two tours I highly recommend doing in Rome. The first is a Golf Cart Tour of Rome and the second is a tour of the Colosseum . A golf cart tour of Rome is the best and most fun way to get an introduction and overview of the city. The Colosseum is the #1 attraction in Italy and one of the most famous attractions in the entire world. There is so much interesting history and facts that you will miss if you do not do a guided tour.

Yes, you can drive a golf cart on the road in Rome, Italy but I do not recommend it. People in Rome drive crazy! 😱 It’s best to take a golf cart tour so you can sit back, relax, and leave the driving to an experienced Rome driver.

C… Your guide will fascinate you with the stunning history of these places. Circus-Maximus

Easter Sunday and Monday we’re very busy, but we may some openings. Therefore, please contact us before booking your tour online. Thank you.

Although the “ real ” Ghetto was demolished in 1888, the presence of the Jews in this area of Rome is tangible. There are not many Jews living there today, but this is where the Major Temple and the schools are. This is also the place for kosher restaurants and food shops. We will walk around this area and then go to the Tiber Island and Trastevere , where the Jews lived during the Roman Empire . We’ll then drive to the Aventine Hill , to see Rome’s Rose garden , located where the Jewish Cemetery used to be. From the Aventine Hill, we’ll admire the view of Circus Maximus and visit the Orange Tree Garden , and the famous “ keyhole ”. Since the Synagogue arranges its own tours, it can only be visited before or after the golf cart tour .

Undoubtedly, Rome is a Baroque city . The competition between two of the world’s most famous sculptors and architects Bernini and Borromini , brought them to create incredible masterpieces. Our trip will take you to see the most prominent Baroque masterpieces in Rome from the squares and fountains , like the “ 4 Rivers ” in Piazza Navona to Trevi continuing with the beautiful churches of Santa Maria della Pace, San Carlino, Saint Ignatius, Chiesa del Gesù . Some incredible masterpieces are hidden, and our guide will make sure that you don’t miss them. Naturally, we will not ignore whatever is not Baroque style, we will point out and comment on all the sights we pass by and in other cases visit them. At the end of the tour, you can get dropped off anywhere you like, in the city or at the Vatican , to continue touring on your own.

navona

This tour will cover the fundamental places from the book; the Pantheon , Piazza del Popolo and Santa Maria del Popolo; Santa Maria Della Vittoria (see the “Ecstasy of St. Therese”), St. Peter’s Square. We will go to the Tiber Island, Piazza Navona, Castel Sant’Angelo (outside) and see the “ Passetto ”, the suspended walkway that connects the castle with the Papal Residence, Piazza del Popolo and Santa Maria del Popolo church with the Chigi Chapel, the one with the “pyramids” . If possible, we drive to St. Peter’s Square to see the “west- ponente” marble mark near the Obelisk . We suggest visiting St. Peter’s Basilica on a separate tour. The sites will not necessarily come in this order

A golf cart tour of Rome, Italy is wonderful way to see the city with less exhausting walking.

We spent six weeks in Italy during our Family Year Out, when our kids were 4 and 7. Why Take a Golf Cart Tour of Rome?

Touring Rome in a golf cart is a great way to pack a lot of sightseeing into one day. While these are not fully accessible trips, they have a lot of advantages over walking tours or trying to do it yourself:

  • More sights in less time, with no worries about navigating from one site to the next.
  • Tours will pause for you to exit the vehicle, take photos, and move around the site, but usually do not enter any ticketed sites.
  • The covered golf cart gets you out of the summer sun- which can really drain your energy, but you’re still in the open air, and experiencing the city life around you.
  • These are small vehicles, so you get an intimate tour with a guide you can hear. No giant groups or huge buses! Many of these golf cart tours are private and can be tailored to your wishes.
  • Touring via golf cart is great for small children or older folks who can’t walk all day- perfect for multi-generational trips! Rome’s cobblestone streets are difficult for strollers, walkers, or any other aides. These golf cart tours whisk you around Rome, saving your legs!
  • Essential for anyone with limited mobility- walking is still involved at some sights, but it is much reduced from visiting without a golf cart. If you, or someone in your group, use a wheelchair or other mobility assistance, be sure to let the tour company know ahead of time.
  • Be aware that the streets of Rome can be bumpy- many of these tours are not recommended for pregnant travelers. However, these carts are street-legal and licensed. You don’t need to worry, they are safe!
  • These vehicles are open on the sides, so they are not great for very cold or rainy weather. These Rome golf cart tours are fantastic for hot summer days when they provide plenty of shade and lots of fresh air.

What to Bring on a Golf Cart Tour of Rome?

The great thing about a gold cart tour of Rome, is you don’t have to bring much! Make sure to bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. While a golf cart tour reduces your walking, you’ll still need to do some walking on uneven streets.

I personally like these Sketchers , as they come in fun colors and don’t look too “sneaker-ey”, but are comfortable with good support.

Women need to carry a shawl or pashmina to cover their shoulders before entering any church. Avoid short skirts or revealing tops as these will exclude you from entering churches or other sacred spaces as well. Men will also need to cover their shoulders and remove any hats before entering a church (including the Pantheon).

FAQ: Golf Cart Tour of Rome

Yes, it is worth doing a tour of Rome! Rome, Italy is a large city with a lot of history packed into many different neighborhoods. A tour guide can point out details you would otherwise miss, and tell you stories to make the buildings and monuments come to life.

We recommend at least four days in Rome . It’s a large city and you need a few days even to see the highlights. A week would be great, and we hope to go spend a month at some point!

The best months to visit Rome are in the Spring (April, May), and Fall (September, October). You’ll find warm but not scorching hot weather, and avoid the summer crowds. Even in these shoulder seasons, visit popular places like the Trevi Fountain in the morning to avoid crowds.

We highly recommend staying in the hip, cobblestoned neighborhood of Trastevere. These narrow streets are packed with cafes and shops, but you can still walk to the biggest sites in the city. We’ve got the best places to stay in Trastevere for every budget. If you are visiting during the warmer months, consider a Rome hotel with a pool !

We recommend using Welcome Pickups . They’ll meet you at the airport, and take you directly to your hotel. You can add child car seats, leave instructions for your driver (like letting them know you have two strollers), and can book everything online!

Also known as Savello Park, this hilltop perspective gives you a moment to take in the enormity of Rome and enjoy the pastel-colored rooftops that dot the skyline. It’s also where the heroic acts of the Sabine women took place, effectively ending the battles between Rome and the surrounding towns and securing the future of the city.

Next, you’ll head to the picturesque neighborhood of Trastevere, a hotspot for lively bars and hip restaurants. As you ride comfortably (rather than walk, uncomfortably) over the cobblestone streets, you’ll pass boutique storefronts, artistic murals, and of course, plenty of options for a creamy, cooling, Italian gelato!

Riding effortlessly up the steep Janiculum Hill, you’ll come to a wide terrace with one of the most breathtaking views of Rome. Known locally as Terrazza del Gianicolo, you can snap pictures of this panoramic scene to your heart's content. See the snaking Tiber River and admire the countless domes and church bells that dot the city. Every day at noon, this is the spot where a blank cannon is fired, rain or shine. First initiated by Pope Pius IX in 1847, the cannon was fired to synchronize the church bells of the city so that everyone was marking and abiding by the official time.

Next, you’ll cruise into a different country to admire one of the most visited attractions in Rome (though technically, Vatican City). Built on the sacred remains of the crucified St. Peter, the Vatican was commissioned by Pope Alexander II in 1656. Designed by Neapolitan architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, this Catholic gathering place is marked by the iconic UNESCO-listed St. Peter’s Basilica at its head.

Your eyes are in for a treat as you approach the impressive, sky-reaching columns of the Pantheon. This 2,000-year-old building is one of the best-preserved ancient structures in the world, boasting the largest unsupported concrete dome on Earth. Originally believed to be a temple built for the gods, it was converted to a Christian church in 609 A.D. This is also the burial place of two Italian kings and the artist Raphael.

Pictures simply don’t do justice to this spectacular sculpture! Prepare to be wowed as you exit the narrow streets (the “tre via” meaning three streets) to view the breathtaking Trevi Fountain. Made famous in movies like La Dolce Vita, Angels and Demons, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and Roman Holiday, the stark white marble and turquoise blue water are a treat for the senses. You’ll immediately understand why this fountain makes such a lasting impression on visitors. Don’t forget to make a wish!

As you approach Piazza Venezia, you’ll be awed by the colossal man on the horse decked out in military armor. Perched front and center is an imposing statue built in 1911, a tribute to Italy’s first post-unification King, Victor Emmanuel II.

This marble disc has bore many legends, though no one really knows the true purpose of La Bocca della Verità. The bearded face is said to resemble Oceanus, the titan god of the sea. Roman legend says that when you rest your hand on his agape mouth, you may end up losing it if you’re not telling the truth about something. Will you risk it?

The center of public life for over a millennium, this was home to the most important buildings in ancient Rome. Here, you’ll see countless ruins that were important in the daily lives of Romans. Home to government buildings, religious monuments, and commercial operations, this was once the beating heart of the city.

The three terraces of this Baroque-style monument represent the Holy Trinity. Exactly 135 marble steps lead to an Egyptian obelisk and, yet another, rather impressive view. This famous staircase is nicknamed for its proximity to the Spanish Embassy when it was constructed back in the 1700s. Its original name, however, is Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti.

Next, you’ll escape the crowds and head for greener pastures…the “green lungs” of Rome, to be precise. Villa Borghese is the largest park in Rome, opened to the public in 1903. Enjoy a relaxing ride through the tree-shaded pathways while admiring the manicured gardens and Roman art.

Sit back and enjoy the bustling action of Rome’s largest square, Piazza del Popolo. Once serving as the grand entrance into the ancient city of Rome, it is now home to the Flaminian Obelisk, which was brought over from Circus Maximus in 1589. On each side of the obelisk, you’ll see two churches, Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto, which at first sight appear identical. See if you can spot the subtle differences!

The largest circular tomb ever known to exist, this round burial structure was built in 28 B.C. Octavian Augustus envisioned this to be the final resting place for himself and his family. Reduced to ruins before being transformed into a fortress, a garden, an amphitheater, and an early 20th-century concert hall, reconstruction began in the 1930s to restore the mausoleum to its original appearance.

Your tour of Rome will finish in the most majestic of settings, Il Colosseo. Known as the visual symbol of Rome, it was the site of everything big, welcoming up to 50,000 spectators to gladiator fights, battle reenactments, and public executions. It’s easy to see how this colossal complex got its name, and why such an enormous structure was required to represent the empire known for its military strength, engineering ingenuity, and its political power.

I highly recommend this tour!! We did this first thing and it was wonderful! Our driver was knowledgeable, entertaining, and provided a great experience!!

A GREAT way to get an overview of the City

We took this tour on our first day in Rome. It was a great way to see a lot of "the" spots you want to hit in Rome and get your bearings on where things are located for going back later to do a deeper dive on your own. Our driver was safe, friendly, and took us to an amazing gelateria in Trastevere. Definitely recommend this tour!

Excellent experience

Andrea was fantastic. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing we asked for was a problem, she even made sure we were able to use a bathroom (which is more challenging than you would think in Rome!). Would highly recommend this tour. It was such an amazing tour, we wished we had done it more than once. Best way to see and learn about Rome!!

Możesz sprawdzić różne bonusy w kasynie, a my rozmawialiśmy więcej o grach, w których możesz korzystać z nich poniżej.

Informacje i opcje płatności w Ice Casino

Jednak metody bankowe obejmują karty kredytowe i debetowe, portfele elektroniczne i bezpośrednie przelewy bankowe.

Należą do nich popularne warianty blackjacka, ruletki, pokera i inne.

An Easy Travel Guide to Rome, Italy

V isiting the Eternal City for the first time? Rome is one of the most visited cities in Italy and we created an easy travel guide to Rome so that you know the best things to see and do.

In this post, we’re sharing all we’ve learned from our vacations in Rome to help you plan your getaway. We’ll cover the most popular neighborhoods, the best things to see and do, how to get around in Rome, the best time of the year to visit, how to get to central Rome from FCO Airport, and tips for traveling.

Where is Rome

Rome is located in the region of Lazio, near the and is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations in Italy. It has the highest population of all cities in Italy and sits about 1 hour from the western coast.

And when it comes to tourism, it’s no surprise that visitors from around the globe travel to Rome to see its beauty and Renaissance art, experience Roman cuisine and Italian cooking , shop the fashion capital, discover the piazzas and fountains, explore the historical landmarks, or even practice Italian phrases that they’ve learned.

The various neighborhoods are the most widely visited by tourists because they are where most attractions can be found. Traveling through the city is easy on foot, but you should also consider the Rome sightseeing bus or the Rome golf cart tours .

The Best Time of Year to Visit Rome

Rome can be extremely uncomfortable in the summer months (primarily June through September). In April and May, the spring temperatures are nice, the mornings are cool, and by noon you probably won’t need a jacket.

How to Get Around Rome

Getting around the cobbled-stoned streets of Rome is not hard. I’ve walked, biked, and bused throughout Rome and loved it! All are great ways to get around and the method you choose depends on how much time you have and your personal preference.

I recommend the  Big Bus Tour  or a Golf Cart Tour in Rome if you are short on time or if you booked your travel in the dead heat of summer (which can be intensely hot).

With these tours, you’ll see all the top Rome attractions with audio commentary in your language of choice. If you choose an open top tour bus, the added benefit is free wi-fi and for 3 extra euros, you can use your ticket for two days (it is worth it).

When it comes to seeing Rome, walking can not be avoided especially when getting to an attraction that require climbing hilly pathways or navigating ancient streets. In my opinion, being on foot is one of the best ways to travel in Rome.

Exploring the narrow streets can lead you to the most marvelous pasta, the creamiest gelato, or the most perfect pasta! I highly recommend visiting the Trastevere neighborhood for  Italian street food .

Public Transportation

This is the best option for getting to a part of town that is more than 20 minutes on foot, especially if visiting a museum or park. Save your energy and use public transportation for less than 2 euros. You can purchase them at the tobacconist store.

You will need to validate your ticket upon boarding the bus (it’s an honor system). Getting caught with an un-validated ticket can result in a fine. You should also use a really good map of Rome.

Bike or Vespa

Peddling around the city on your own time feels so liberating. Bike rental is very affordable and is an enjoyable way to experience the outdoors, get some exercise to make up for all the  Italian breakfasts  that you eat, and explore Rome.

You can find rentals for as little as 13 euros for 24 hours, complete with lock, for a standard bike. The price for e-bikes is higher.

Getting around on a two-passenger scooter is loads of fun!  Rent a Vespa to skirt traffic or explore outside the city. They can be rented by the hour or day. This will make your trip to Rome memorable as you travel in true Italian style!

How to Get to Central Rome from FCO Airport

There are several options to get from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport to the center of the city. I found the train to be the quickest and most affordable especially if you’ve had a long day of travel and want to get to Termini station.

The most economical way to get from the airport to the city center is via a shuttle bus service from the airport. You can travel conveniently between Rome’s city center and the airport and take pleasure in a stress-free arrival or departure from the city.

The ride takes about 50 minutes and departures run from the airport every 30 to 40 minutes so you have time to collect your luggage. Shuttles stop in Terminal 3’s arrivals section. Look for the respective service at the arrival platform.

Terravision offers a shuttle service for less than 8 euros it’s quite popular. The buses are air-conditioned and there is no cost to bring your luggage aboard. It goes directly to Termini station with no extra stops.

Another option is the public transportation system, which costs about 6 euros. The bus stops multiple times in the city center, including one close to the Vatican and one at Termini Station, throughout the 45- to 1-hour one-way trip.

Buses halt in Terminal 3’s arrivals section, at number 14. You can purchase tickets at the airport desk or online.

A taxi is quite expensive. It will set you back almost 50 euros and the ride takes just as long as a shuttle service (about 50 minutes). You can find the taxis at the arrival level of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

The Leonardo Express train is less than 20 euros and runs every 15 minutes during peak periods. It is operated by Trenitalia and the ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

If you wait to collect your luggage, and then make your way to the window or kiosk to purchase your ticket, note that many others will be doing the same. Hate long lines? You can purchase tickets in advance and be ready for validation after boarding the train.

I can’t recommend a car rental unless you plan a day trip and need a set of wheels. Rome is completely walkable. Not to mention, even Italians know that finding a parking space can be a hassle.

Tips for Visiting Rome

I adore visiting Italy. And no trip would be complete without seeing some of the most iconic and historic spots in the Eternal City.

Don’t make the mistake (that I made on my first trip) and skip these incredible spots! Fortunately, I was able to see them on return visits!

Whether you are visiting the Vatican for the first time or returning because you tossed a coin into the Trevi fountain, these Rome travel tips will come in handy to make your stay enjoyable.

  • Be prepared! Read these tips on the essentials for an international flight .
  • Think comfort when flying coach , it will help you stay calm and confident.
  • Beware of scammers, pickpockets, and panhandlers. It’s a thing in Europe and it can happen when you least expect it.

So, what are you waiting for? Book that flight to Rome and thank me later.

Sightseeing can be an expensive activity, but it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of ways to enjoy sightseeing without breaking the bank. One way is to look for free or discounted admission days at museums and other attractions. Many cities offer reduced rates for students, seniors, and military personnel as well. Another great way to save money on sightseeing is by taking advantage of public transportation options like buses and trains. Not only will you save money on gas, but you’ll also get the chance to explore different parts of the city that you may not have seen otherwise. If you’re traveling with a group, consider renting a car or van so everyone can pitch in for fuel costs instead of paying individual fares. Finally, don’t forget about all the free activities available such as walking tours and outdoor concerts – these are often just as enjoyable (if not more) than paid attractions!
