Khruangbin Detail North American Tour

Khruangbin have announced an extensive 2021 North American tour, as well as a few shows for 2022.

The Texas psych-rock outfit already had a handful of summer and fall shows booked, including festival sets at Newport Jazz and Bonnaroo, plus multi-night stands at Stubb’s in Austin, Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Eastern in Atlanta (all of those shows have already sold out).

Khruangbin have scattered some new shows around those short residencies, including a September 22nd gig in Aspen, Colorado, a November 6th show in Santa Barbara, California, and a November 7th show in San Diego. They’ve also fleshed out a fuller run in December that kicks off December 1st in New Orleans and wraps in San Antonio on the 19th. Khruangbin have also booked a pair of shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for March 9th and 10th, 2022.

Khruangbin will receive support from Pachyman in Aspen and Kikagaku Moyo in Santa Barbara and San Diego. Nick Hakim, meanwhile, will open during the band’s December run.

Tickets for Khruangbin’s new shows will begin to go on sale starting Wednesday, June 14th, at 10 a.m. local time. Complete information is available on the band’s website .

Khruangbin Announces Return To The Road For 55-Date Global 2024 Tour [Update]

[UPDATE]:   Khruangbin has added a string of new tour dates to the band’s already-loaded  A La Sala tour. The first run of live shows from the internationally-influenced Texas trio since 2022 will come in support of its upcoming album of the same name.

The five new tour dates announced on Monday all extend previously announced multi-night engagements. Between the two weekends of Coachella , Khruangbin will now play a second night in San Luis Obispo, CA on April 19th. Then, in May, the group has added a new show on May 21st to its existing run at The Met in Philadelphia (5/21–5/23). Fast forward to August and Khruangbin will now play three nights at the  Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA (8/14–8/16) with the addition of a show on the 14th.

Later that month, before the band takes over  Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (8/27–8/28), Khruangbin will play a new show on August 26th at the Mission Ballroom in nearby Denver. Finally, the new batch of tour dates will wrap with an additional show at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. on September 24th following the band’s previously announced show on the 23rd.

[1/29/24]: Internationally-influenced Houston trio Khruangbin has announced more than 50 tour dates in support of its first new studio album in four years, A La Sala , due out on April 5th, 2024.

The tour will serve as the first set of live performances by the band—comprised of Mark Speer (guitar),  Laura Lee (bass), and  Donald “DJ” Johnson (drums)—since 2022. While the group took a hiatus from touring in 2023 as Lee welcomed her first child, it used a series of five live albums to maintain its momentum during the pause.

After kicking off their return to the road with a pair of appearances at  Coachella (4/14, 4/21) sandwiched around a midweek headlining play at San Luis Obispo, CA’s Alex Madonna Expo Center (4/18), Mark, Laura, and DJ will head to Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV (4/23, 4/24) and  Revel in Albuquerque, NM (4/26, 4/27) for a pair of two-night stands. Next, Khruangbin will head east for a two-night run at  The Met in Philadelphia, PA (5/23, 5/24), a slot at Boston, MA’s  Boston Calling (5/25), and a performance at the famed  Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY (5/26).

Following one-offs in Buffalo, NY (5/28) and Cleveland, OH (5/29), a three-night run in Toronto, ON (5/31, 6/1, 6/2), a show in Detroit, MI (6/24), a three-night stint at The Salt Shed in Chicago, IL (6/7, 6/8, 6/9), and a performance at  Red Hat Amphitheatre in Raleigh, NC (6/11), the trio will make its way to Manchester, TN for an appearance at the 2024 edition of  Bonnaroo .

After spending the month of July working through Europe for a 13-show stretch, Khruangbin will travel back across the Atlantic to continue its North American tour schedule with stops at Berkeley, CA’s  Greek Theatre (8/15, 8/16), Troutdale, OR’s  Edgefield (8/18, 8/19), Bonner, MT’s  Kettlehouse Amphitheater  (8/21, 8/22), Salt Lake City, UT’s  Granary Live (8/24), and Morrison, CO’s storied  Red Rocks Amphitheatre (8/27, 8/28). The band will then head to New York’s Forest Hills Stadium in September for two nights (9/20, 9/21) ahead of a one-off performance at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. (9/23). The band will finally regroup once again in October to round out the extensive tour with two-night engagements at St. Louis, MO’s  The Factory (10/2, 10/3) and New Orleans, LA’s  Saenger Theatre (10/9, 10/10).

Khruangbin Announce U.S. Tour

Khruangbin have announced a 2021 U.S. tour. In addition to festival performances at Newport, Bonnaroo, Firefly, Outside Lands, and other events, the new schedule includes headlining appearances in California, Louisiana, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, and more.

Several different artists are set to join Khruangbin across the run, including Nick Hakim, Kadhja Bonet, Pachyman, Kikagaku Moyo, and more. Nubya Garcia will notably join the Houston band for a pair of shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York in March 2022, too. Check out the full itinerary below.

Khruangbin’s latest album Mordechai was released in 2020. The band also curated a Late Night Tales mix at the end of last year.

Khruangbin Drop 2024 North American Tour Dates

Khruangbin has announced a full-fledged North American tour comprised of festival and venue appearances across the U.S. and Canada in support of the trio’s impending fourth studio album and first in four years, A La Sala , due on April 5 via Dead Oceans in partnership with Night Time Stories Ltd. On the road, the band will welcome support from Hermano Gutiérrez, John Carroll Kirby, Peter Cat Recording Co., Men I Trust and Arooj Aftab at select stops. 

The band’s impending schedule picks up with a festival appearance during the first weekend of Coachella, April 14. Sandwiched between weekends one and two of the annual Indio, Calif. gathering is a single stand at Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on April 18. From there, they’ll arrive in Las Vegas for shows at Brooklyn Bowl on April 23 and 24. 

Additional two-night stands will occur in Albuquerque, N.M., on April 26 and 27; after a break, they will resume dates in Philadelphia on May 22 and 23. On the East Coast, the band will trek up to Bean Town, performing at Boston Calling on May 25, followed by an evening at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., the next night. 

While in the Empire State, Khruangbin will pop over to Buffalo, N.Y., to take part in Rockin’ At The Knox. After a night in Cleveland, the band will participate in a slate of Toronto dates at  History from May 31 through June 2. Back in the U.S., the band proceeds with Midwest appearances, including a night in Detroit and three shows at The Salt Shed in Chicago. 

The band will dip down for a June 11 concert at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, N.C., followed by their Bonnaroo return, slated for June 14. The next leg of Khruangbin’s tour takes them to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif., on August 15 and 16, followed by another two-night stand outside Portland, Ore., at McMenamins’ Edgefield venue. 

More stops take the band to Montana and Utah prior to a highly anticipated stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., on August 27 and 28. Afterward, they’ll take part in shows at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in New York, The Anthem in Washington, D.C, The Factory in St. Louis and two nights on the Saenger Theatre stage in New Orleans.

The Khru Club artist presale for the North American tour starts on Tuesday, January 30, at 10 a.m. local time. Khruangbin will be bringing their A LA SALA 2024 UK tour to Eventim Apollo this November, with special guests, Peter Cat Recording Co.

The title makes it clear. A LA SALA (“To the Room” in Spanish), the fourth studio album by Khruangbin, is an exercise in returning in order to go further, and do so on your own terms. It extends the air of mystery and sanctity that’s key to how bassist Laura Lee Ochoa, drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson, Jr. and guitarist Mark “Marko” Speer approach music. It is a porthole onto the bounties powering Khruangbin’s vision, a reimagining and refueling for the long haul ahead. A LA SALA scales Khruangbin down to scale up, a creative strategy with the future in mind.

1 Khruangbin, "A La Sala." The trio's latest album is a blend of soul, psychedelic rock and funk instrumentation at its finest. Guitarist Mark Speer does a Texas two-step with bass player Laura Lee, as DJ Johnson is a metronome on the drums.

2 "Civil War" soundtrack. Director Alex Garland is masterful in picking an eclectic mix of songs for unforgettable moments. Highlight: Sturgill Simpson's "Breakers Roar," set behind a visually stunning yet nightmarish drive through a massive fire.

3 "Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told." The soundtrack to this documentary is a wild ride through one of the biggest and Blackest spring break parties in Atlanta. As OutKast's Andre 3000 said, "The South got somethin' to say."

1 Rolling Stones, Houston. On opening night of their Hackney Diamonds Tour at NRG Stadium, Mick Jagger was ageless, Keith Richards was nonchalant and Ron Wood was smiling. The guitar work galvanized, the new tunes "Angry" and "Mess It Up" rocked, newcomer Chanel Haynes added a Tina Turner touch to "Gimme Shelter" and the concert felt timeless, familiar and exhilarating for aging boomers. 2 Nicki Minaj, Target Center. In her overdue first Twin Cities headline concert, the hip-hop queen displayed her ample skills as a fierce rapper, limber gymnast/dancer and colorful entertainer. The generous 34-song show was a visual treat with several costumes (and wig) changes, playful choreography (loved her cowboy dancers during "Cowgirl") and multilevel video wall that looked like a city skyline covered in various images. The only misstep was having unintroduced special guest Monica, the '90s soul singer, appear two-thirds into the show, derailing Minaj's momentum during an overlong outfit change.

3 David Foster and Katharine McPhee, State Theatre. What a delightfully entertaining family show with producer/pianist/songwriter Foster, singer/actor McPhee and their son Rennie, 3, on drums for "St. Elmo's Fire." Frisky McPhee showed convincing versatility as a quipster, dancer and singer of standards, show tunes, country and Foster-penned power ballads. Props to concertgoers Hannah, Tony and especially Andy for singing with Foster. Unadvertised guest Daniel Emmet of "America's Got Talent" fame was a knockout sub for Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli but detracted from the familial vibe.
