The small group sizes mean more personalized attention. It’s almost like a friend is taking you around their winery, teaching you everything they know.

The three wineries may not be the same each tour, but the experts do well to mix more “classic/traditional” wineries along with more modern ones. This is a great way to see which practices each one uses, and which you like the result of better.

What we really loved about this tour was the way they incorporated the regions very old history, medieval villages, squares, and castles into the winery and vineyard tours.

They do relate to one-another and still have quite a relevant influence. Meet up in Madrid with the rest of your group and tour guide/driver and head towards Ribera del Duero at 9:15 am.

One thing you’re sure to notice before you arrive is the gorgeous Duero river, beautifully-colored landscapes, and ancient pieces of architecture.

Your first tour will show you how they mix both new and classic wine-making techniques, and teach you about how they had to learn over the centuries how to best grow their grapes in the sometimes extreme weather conditions.

As the tours can change within different wineries, we can’t say exactly which ones you’ll visit. However, you will learn more about tempranillo wine and the step-by-step process of making it. You’ll get to try plenty of their aged and newer wines, as they explain to you the varied properties

Next up, you’ll get to visit the aqueduct of Segovia, take in incredible views of a 12 th -century castle, explore underground cave networks, and more. Have lunch at one of the 3 wineries you’ll visit, in a serene, stunning setting.

From strictly traditional to ultra-modern, the winemakers will show you why they’re only growing in popularity. Crianza, Reserva, Joven, and Rosado are just some of the types you will sip on.

7. Guided Tour to Ribera del Duero Winery and Wine Tasting from Madrid

It’s simply one of the best wine tours available, and with so many to choose from, that’s really saying a lot. With some of the smallest group sizes (not due to demand, but rather for improved experience), it’s a very personalized tour that feels so welcoming and fun.

If you’ve ever wanted to do a winetasting in a castle, then look no further! The air-conditioned minivan is the perfect size for these small groups. They’re just spacious enough that you can stretch out and get comfortable, but not so big that it’s difficult to maneuver the vehicle or hear your guide/driver.

A very traditional wine is made here, with techniques that haven’t changed for hundreds of years. After, take a break for some lunch of traditional Castilian cuisine.

Las Moradas de San Martín

Nestled on the edge of the region of Madrid close to Toledo and Ávila provinces, Las Moradas de San Martín is among the most idyllic Madrid wineries. Its unique geography and climate make it ideal for producing some of the most intense, velvety D.O. Vinos de Madrid wines. Although the winery itself was established less than 20 years ago, winemakers in this region have been practicing their craft for centuries. In fact, some of the most legendary writers of the Spanish Golden Age alluded to these wines in their works.

Address : Pago Castillejos, Carretera M541, km 4.5, San Martín de Valdeiglesias

Bodega Saavedra

The sprawling vineyards of Bodega Saavedra are filled with vines ranging from 70 to 100 years old. The unique landscape makes it difficult for mechanical harvesting, so they still use the same traditional manual harvesting techniques as they did when the winery opened four generations ago. Still family-run and going stronger than ever, this lovely corner of paradise is one of our favorite Madrid wineries for their stunning location, even better wines, and outstanding service.

Address :  Travesía de la Carretera de Escalona, 5, Cenicientos

Bernabeleva

The descendants of Bernabeleva ‘s original owner still faithfully take care of the vines he planted nearly a century ago. As a result, the beautiful vineyards produce some of the most delicious red and white D.O. Vinos de Madrid wines. As if the wine itself didn’t make this one of our favorite Madrid wineries, the area is also steeped in fascinating history dating back to both the ancient Celts as well as the Romans.

Address :  Carretera Ávila-Toledo (N-403) km 81.6, San Martín de Valdeiglesias

One of our favorite Madrid wineries is historic, beautiful Bernabeleva, a lovely family-run vineyard.

Bodegas Marañones

The team at Bodegas Marañones prides themselves on their dedication to producing elegant wines while maintaining a commitment to the environment. The rich soil in their picturesque vineyards is ideal for growing carefully tended grapes, mostly of the garnacha and albillo varieties. Each of their six wines is completely organic, going as far as to use indigenous yeast during the fermentation process.

Address :  Avenida de Marcial Llorente, 69, Pelayos de la Presa

ValleYglesias

As one of the most modern Madrid wineries, ValleYglesias may seem like a far cry from the traditional bodegas that have been around for decades. However, although ValleYglesias itself was only established in 2001, this family team here maintains a steadfast commitment to their grandfather’s traditional winemaking philosophy from the early twentieth century. Their mission is to bring prestige back to the area of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, and they do it through the combination of their winery and their own restaurant.

Address :  Calle de la Corredera Alta, 28, San Martín de Valdeiglesias

Be sure to visit one of our favorite Madrid wineries—then stick around for a tasting!

Bodegas Andrés Díaz

Located in the foodie paradise of Navalcarnero (direct buses run every 30 minutes from Madrid’s Príncipe Pío station ), Bodegas Andrés Díaz is a delightful family-run winery dedicated to producing some of the best D.O. Vinos de Madrid reds. Now run by the great-granddaughter of the original owner, it’s one of our favorite Madrid wineries due to its perfect balance of tradition and modernity.

Address :  Calle Palencia, 32, Navalcarnero

Be sure to enjoy a glass of red wine produced on-site at Bodegas Andrés Díaz, one of our favorite Madrid wineries!

Bodegas Real Cortijo de Carlos III

Real Cortijo de Carlos III is easily one of the most royal Madrid wineries! This historic vineyard dates back to the late 18th century, when the king ordered its construction as a wine producer for Spain’s royal family. Today, you don’t have to be in line to the throne to enjoy their delicious wines—or to visit the winery itself. The site consists of lush gardens, a small yet fascinating museum and centuries-old cellars that are still in use today.

Address :  Calle de Leon Ruiz Ruiz, 0, Cortijo de San Isidro

One of the most historic Madrid wineries, Real Cortijo de Carlos III started as a winemaking facility for Spain's royal family!

I’m traveling to Madrid next week and want to visit 2-3 of these amazing wine vineyards you recommended here. I’m trying to plan a day trip but don’t want to rent a car to avoid drinking and driving. I can’t seem to find a tour company that offers these wine locations. I’m particularly interested in visiting #5 on your list above, ValleYglesias. Do you have suggestions on how I get there? I looked into Uber and it said about $200 euro each way. That’s way too expensive. Is there a tour I can join?

madrid winery tour

How about public transportation? Looks like there is a bus from Principe Pio in Madrid to the town where ValleYglesias is, San Martin De Valdeiglesias. You can see the schedule for the outbound bus here . It takes an hour and 15 minutes and runs once an hour on the weekend, more on weekdays. According to the winery’s website , they meet at Bar Restaurante Valleyglesias to start the tour, which is in the center of town and shouldn’t be far from the bus stop. As far as organized tours go, there may be one that you could join from Madrid, but we’re not familiar with any, so we’d recommend getting in touch with the winery!

madrid winery tour

Does you know how English friendly these wineries are?

Hi Amy! Only Bernabeleva specifically mention English tours on their website, but the others may offer them as well! We’d recommend sending an email to ask!

Hi there! My partner and I are visiting Madrid 14th June leaving 17th AM. We’d love to visit a vineyard/ winery near Madrid or even a few on the Saturday 15th as a birthday treat! Please could you advise the best place/places?

Many thanks!

Hey Laura! Those included in this post are our favorites. If you’d like to visit more than one, there are several around San Martín de Valdeiglesias (numbers 1, 3 and 5 on this list). You can take a bus out there and then arrange for taxi transportation between them. Just make sure to reserve ahead of time with the wineries! Enjoy!

Hi! Do you know / how can we find out if they are open during the week of New Year, before or after 1st Jan? Particularly interested in the one with the bus option

Two white wines will be up for tasting, followed by four red wine tastings – as we all know by now, reds are full-bodied, fruity, and fabulous in Spain.

Compare wines with each other while enjoying cheese, olives, and Iberian cut meats, the perfect accompaniment to any Spanish wine experience. The tour lasts around 90 minutes, so if you want to book a quick and effective Madrid wine experience, this is definitely the one we suggest.

  • Your host is a sommelier and wine journalist with over 10 years of experience. You’re in for some great storytelling.
  • Looking for a cozy and intimate experience? Only 12 spots are available on this tour

Pedro did a great job in demystifying the Spanish ham infatuation. And the special stew from Madrid was outstanding, highly recommend this tour.

We had such a great time. We were the only two who booked this tour but they didn’t cancel it – we got a private tour! What a great bonus! We learned about the quality standards for iberico pigs, tasted great food, visited some amazing restaurants and got a great dose of Spanish history. We were honored our guide (Pedro?) let us have this experience and we got such a great insight to a good that is so important to Spain. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing night with Andres. The food was great, the wines were super, and most importantly we enjoyed the company. Andres knows a lot about wine and he made us try dishes and different types of wine that we wouldn't have known about on our own and he went out of his way to accommodate our requests. This tour should be the number 1 thing on your to do list in Madrid.

Throughly enjoyed the company of the tour guides. They made it personal. Their knowledge and insight was great. The bars etc selected opened a whole new world. Thanks for the adventure.

The tour itself was very good especially the young lady who did the tour but Viator's tour description was deceiving .It said there was a restaurant visit on top of a building with a cocktail , that didn't happen.I had the same experience with my Dubai trip .What you guys say and what we get , most of the time, isn't the same thing .That should be fixed.

It was a fun evening with Laura and all 10 of us friends. Laura was an excellent guide who shared a lot about Spain, food and herself. It was a great local interaction! Thank you for a great tour!

My boyfriend and I had a great time on this food tour where we got to not only eat delicious food but learn the layout and a little history of the city. I always recommend that folks do this at the beginning of their visit bc it’s an ideal way to get your bearings.

We scheduled a 2 and 1/2 hour tapas tour with Andreas. It was outstanding!! We had graet food and wine at three locations. Andres's knowledge and presentation made the evening fly. We actually ended up with a four hour event. We enjoyed the third location so much we took other people there 3 days later.Clearly we would recommend this to any visitor to Madrid.

Do you want to make your private trip, group trips: do you want to travel with family or friends, business trips. mice tourism, winebus: exploring the food and wine of spain, madrid wine tours.

If what you are looking for during your stay  in Madrid is a wine tour , look no further. Since we offer  wine tours  designed for you to enjoy in each winery we visit, with the best combination of the following factors: extraordinary wines, an attractive speech, and beautiful facilities. All these done with an expert guide. We complement this activity with the best of our cuisine, our landscapes, our medieval towns that are closed to the wineries that we take you.

Our goal is that you fall in love with our wine tours from Madrid if you are a true wine lover. You may also consider that the best way to enjoy a country like Spain that makes such extraordinary wines, is to do it with a glass of wine in your hand.

We call our activity  Madrid Wine Tours  or  Madrid Wine Experience  depending on your profile. One thing is sure. We will do everything we can to make you have an unforgettable experience.

We have been doing this activity since 2012. We have had the immense luck of doing what we love. And what we adore is getting to know and making our country known through its wineries and wines.

Our motto is that everything is more beautiful with a glass of wine in hand.  We started with Spaniards who enjoyed our activity, until we discovered through foreigners that we have an extraordinary country. Word of mouth allowed us to begin to be known by foreigners who visit us.

And these foreigners who visit us show us that we have, not only wines, but gastronomy, history, our festivals, extraordinary people, monuments, landscapes, monuments, medieval cities.

We organize tours for winelovers and also for people who just think that everything is better with a glass of wine in hand.

We have these tours:  Ribera del Duero Tour ,  Avila wine tour ,  Wineries near Madrid half-day tour ,  Madrid Castle Wine Tour  in which we visit at least two enormously attractive wineries. In these tours we visit 2 wineries or maybe 3. We are not obsessed with the number but the quality of the visits in which our sole objective is the full satisfaction of our visitors.

We have also:  Segovia Wine Tour ,  Wine Tasting Toledo Tour  and  Windmills of La Mancha Tour  . In those tours we will visit a winery and try to visit those cities or those wind mills keeping in mind that wine is the protagonist and driver of the experience.

We like our tours very much. We were lucky from the start to do something that we adored and that our visitors also adored. Our tours are now even better because the priority in the organization and execution of them is the full satisfaction of our visitors. We learn on each tour what it is that we like the most to do it better and what it is that we like less to make the appropriate modifications.

But the important thing is not what we think about whether they like tours or not. Listen and read to those who have already come and give their opinions. We will wait for you here.

Tour Details

Sierra de Gredos displays a really beautiful landscape; surrounded by mountains (Gredos mountains) where Grenache (Garnacha) is the queen grape variety . Here you will find some powerful red wines made with Grenache and also some others with character but less colored in a Pinot Noir style from Burgundy.  Vineyards here are planted at 900 meters altitude . The distance from Madrid to Sierra de Gredos is 1 hour and 10 minutes.

This tour includes guided visits to two wineries, where you will have the opportunity to witness their winemaking process firsthand . You will immerse yourself in the world of wine as knowledgeable experts share insights into the unique terroir of Sierra de Gredos and enlighten you about two different winemaking styles while also having the possibility of adding a delicious 3-course lunch (contact us for a quote) .

Example of Itinerary

During the   first winery   visit we will savor the red Garnacha and aromatic Albillo Real that will   surprise your palate .  We will carry out a guided tour of the centenary vineyards , where you will learn about the   winemaking and ageing process   and uncover the ecological care behind it .

We will then head to the second winery where you will experience the   vineyard landscape , the harvest process and grape stomping first-hand. Here you will enjoy a   wine tasting   with a selection of local wines and learn about the distinctive characteristics and flavors of the region during another   fantastic tasting experience.

Located 160 km from Madrid, 80 km from Ávila, 45 minutes from Plasencia, and 1 hour from Salamanca, we encounter the Sierra de Gredos . Connected to four autonomous communities, whose influence can be appreciated in the traditional dishes of its gastronomy. Among the  emblematic dishes of the region , we can find “patatas revolconas”, made of boiled potatoes with Candeleda paprika, bay leaf, and garlic. The potatoes are cooked until they almost disintegrate, resembling a puree.

Thereafter, enjoy an  delightful gastronomic lunch  at a local restaurant or in one of the winery tasting rooms, with an unparalleled experience and in an unforgettable setting with views of the vineyard or enjoy of a simpler experience such a workshop with an appetiser of Iberian ham and cheese.

And last but not least you will experience the timeless magic of Sierra de  Gredos  as you embark on a journey to the land immortalised by  “La reconquista”. This Spanish town served as a natural barrier and stronghold against Moorish invasions, with its rugged mountains and strategic location. The Christian kingdoms of Castile and Leon, fought fiercely to reclaim territories, and Gredos became a symbol of resistance and resilience.

What our customers say about us.

HALF DAY OF JOY With a spare day in Madrid my wife and I found Jimena and her company for the perfect winery tour in Spain. I wanted a small winery and unique tour and that is exactly what I got. Her knowledge was vast and the small organic winery we visited was amazing. The perfect personalized small winery tour. I would highly recommend anyone in the Madrid area looking for a winery experience, look up Colorful Wines!

PERFECT OUTING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Jimena put together a great half-day tour for me and my family. Along with her team, Jimena arranged for everything (including transport, tour, tasting, and light meal) so that we didn’t have to worry about anything other than enjoying our time. She was also happy to help us with tips and advice when purchasing wine from the cellar to take with us. She is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about wines, speaks (at least?) English, Spanish and French fluently and makes every effort to make the experience fun and memorable. Highly recommended!

GREAT FOR SPANISH SPEAKING PEOPLE AS WELL! Jimena did an amazing job! We were so happy we went for half day tour to a family owned winery with her. She gave us a lot of great wine tips, we came back home with 3 cases of great wine! 3 main things that I’d love to mention: 1. she has tours on Sundays 2. she perfectly speaks English (and as far as I know French as well) 3. she had such a personalized service, we were very happy! You will have great time and detailed information about wine (not Spanish only).

UNIQUE, GENUINE AND AUTHENTIC! From hotel pick-up to drop-off, Jimena and team were just fantastic! She was thoughtful, accommodating and speaks great English! We really enjoyed the entire experience–the wine tour and tasting was great. We also had fun with a quaint and private stroll through Navalcarnero, including a wonderfully delicious and authentic lunch! Not a typical “tour” by any means–so very unique and genuine–we loved it! Well worth the cost.

AMAZING WINE TOUR! We enjoyed an amazing, informative wine tour with Jimena (the owner) as our guide. She was knowledgeable and a lot of fun for my husband, two adult and two teenage children to have as our guide. We were picked up directly at our hotel which was convenient. Our booking was last minute so it was fantastic that we were able to go on this day trip. The winery we visited was a 5th generation family. So glad we were able to fit this into our trip. So Memorable! Truly a must do!

GREAT TOUR OF MADRID WINERY Jimena set up a spectacular wine tour for my girlfriend and I at a small, 5-generation winery outside of Madrid. We saw everything that goes into winemaking, from touring the vineyard and tasting grapes to the bodega where the wine is fermented in huge clay tanks and finally to the ancient cellar where it sits in bottles. We finished our tour with a tasting. Jimena did a great job translating and answering all of our questions. Thanks Jimena!

PERSONALIZED AND REWARDING! A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE! Combining colorful wines, family traditions, and exceptionally educated and caring hosts, Colorful Wines has created a once in a lifetime tour experience. My wife and I loved the complete personalized atmosphere. From the 5th generation family owned and operated vineyard, to the history of the region, we were continuously impressed and inspired. Jimena and Colorful Wines’ knowledge of oenology was outstanding.

AMAZING WINE TOUR!!! My boyfriend and I did this tour together and we absolutely loved it! Jimena, the guide and owner of the company, made this tour personal and intimate. It was just the two of us and it was an up close and personal experience. We were able to see the vineyard, a historic cellar and taste the wines guided by a fifth generation wine maker. This experience is not something a large tour company with a lot of people would have been able to do. We highly recommend this tour. You will feel VIP!!

FUN TOUR! My 3 nieces and I recently enjoyed the Half Day Wine Tour with Jimena and Colorful Wines. It was a perfect day trip from Madrid and we really enjoyed our time with the owner of a local generational winery. Jimena was knowledgeable and a great tour guide/translator for our time together. I would highly recommend Colorful Wines and Jimena for a future wine tour.

AMAZING TOUR WITH COLORFUL WINES!!! Our hotel front desk personnel at The Mint recommended Colorful Wines and we are so grateful they did. My husband and I had a great time touring the Jose Diaz E Hijos vineyards, winery and tasting the fabulous wines. Our half day excursion was a great personalized tour with Jimena and her driver. We learned a lot of the area and the wines. JImena is so personable, knowledgeable and fun. I’ve been on a few wines tours in Napa and this tour was so much more than others.

A WONDERFUL PERSONALIZED EXPERIENCE We decided at the last minute in Madrid to book a wine tour and Jimena could not have been more accommodating. She arranged on one day’s notice to take us to a small family owned Organic winery about 35 minutes outside of Madrid. We were promptly picked up at our hotel for the scenic ride to the vineyard during which Jimena explained to us the varieties of wines in Spain. Upon our arrival at the vineyard we were greeted by the owner’s daughter…

We did the local Madrid wine tour: “Organic Bodega near Madrid & Cervantes’ Birthplace” Jimena was a fantastic guide, the winery is a very special place with Carlos the owner and his wife being the perfect hosts. Carlos with the history of the beginnings of their winery and a walk through the vineyard, finishing with wine tasting and parings. Lunch was fantastic! Tour of the town of Alcalá de Henares is very historic and small and a perfect ending…

I recently went with some friends to a beautiful winery near Madrid, and we experienced different wines (although my favourite ones are Rioja wines, I loved the wines from Madrid DO we tasted) and also gastronomic specialties. We absolutely loved it, it was a great experience! Jimena was a wonderful guide who showed us the area, described everything in depth and detailed all the wine characteristics. We tasted fabulous wines and the winery was really nice. Would love to repeat the experience…

AMAZING EXPERIENCE We visited 3 vineyards in Madrid. Passion and Knowledge for wines are the main words that come to mind when I remember Jimena; she was an excellent guide to my family and friends. I recommend her 100% to do something different and unique in Madrid.

GREAT WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE! We enjoyed a very unique tour and visit to a family-owned winery. It was a perfect 1/2 day tip from the city. Great wine, great guide, lots of history and knowledge!

Why Visit Madrid?

This modern Spanish city is located in the heart of Iberia, which is said to be the reason it earned its place as Spain’s capital in 1606. Madrid is a lively city abundant with culture, architecture, art and an energetic nightlife. Over three million people call this remarkable capital city home and many more millions visit each year to see attractions like Prado Museum that houses artwork by the likes of Velázquez and Goya, and other popular attractions like the baroque Royal Palace and Armory, and beautiful sculpture parks like the Buen Retiro.

Aside from its enviable collection of European art that can also be found in museums such as Reina Sofia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid is praised for having some of the best food and wines in Spain. When you arrive in Madrid, tasting their tapas and wines are a must. Sample their delicious hams and the various kinds of cheeses to pair with a glass of something divine. Head into the traditional bustling bars in the evening and indulge in the rich flavours of their garlic shrimp, olives and chicken.

Visitors will enjoy feasting at gourmet restaurants, meandering through flea markets and drinking the best of Madrid's wines. Let your wine holidays take you to new heights as you sample Vermouth (Vermú), a fortified and aromatised wine that’s hugely popular amongst the Spanish.
