Jackson Wang Plots a World Tour for ‘Magic Man’: ‘Finally’

Jackson Wang is getting ready to hit the road. On Wednesday (Sept. 28), the GOT7 member announced his plans for a world tour in support of his recently released album, Magic Man .

Wang revealed the details of his 2022-2023 trek via his social media accounts, excitedly writing, “Finally. The 1st time in my life I get to properly tour now. After all this … MAGIC MAN WORLD TOUR 2022-2023 #MAGICMAN is coming. See u there. I promise it’s different.”

In 2023, the 28-year-old will take his tour to London on Jan. 12, and to Paris three days later on Jan. 15. Dubai is also getting a visit, with Wang performing on Feb. 4. The tour poster, which features the singer in a leather jacket, states “and more,” hinting at possible tour dates to come.

Wang released Magic Man , his second solo studio album, on Sept. 9; it debuted at No. 15 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. The set charted even higher on Billboard ‘s Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts at No. 3.

Speaking with People , Wang explained that Magic Man is “way more extreme than all the stuff that I’ve released in the past. And I think it’s because on this album, I’m in my most raw form that I’ve ever been in my career as a solo artist, just not caring about whoever I was and whatever I had before. And [I] just want to go for being completely me and with no filter.”

O cantor, artista e produtor Jackson Wang , do GOT7 virá para o Brasil pela primeira vez em sua tour Magic Man! A Team Wang , anunciou hoje (27), por meio das redes sociais, que o cantor fará uma apresentação única no país, no dia 15 de maio, no Espaço Unimed, em São Paulo.

Os ingressos estarão disponíveis a partir de 06 de fevereiro, às 10h, com pré-venda para clientes do Cartão de Crédito Porto Seguro Bank, e vai até dia 08 de fevereiro, dia que abrirá vendas para o público em geral, que poderá adquirir seu ticket a partir das 10h. Wang Jia-Er, nasceu em 28 de março de 1994, em Hong Kong. Ele é mais conhecido pelo seu nome artístico Jackson Wang.

Jackson é um ex-atleta e esgrimista, também rapper, cantor, dançarino, CEO, produtor, modelo e apresentador de televisão. Ele ficou conhecido depois de debutar como rapper no grupo de k-pop GOT7 , em 2014.

Em 2017, o artista criou sua própria empresa na China intitulada “ Team Wang “, por onde atua como solista. No mesmo ano, o cantor lançou a sua primeira música solo, “Papillon” . Desde então, o artista vêm lançando diversas canções solo, com a mais recente “ Cruel ”.

Com o sucesso consolidado, o cantor foi convidado para se apresentar no palco do Coachella em abril de 2022. Fazendo história como o primeiro artista chinês solo a se apresentar no palco principal do festival como parte do set coletivo ‘Head In The Clouds Forever’ do 88rising.

Após o grande sucesso, Jackson retornará pelo segundo ano consecutivo para se apresentar no Coachella em 16 e 23 de abril.

Em 2022, Jackson encabeçou a Cerimônia de Abertura do Campeonato Mundial de League Of Legends com a apresentação de seu último single, “Fire to the Fuse” , uma faixa escrita e produzida para a Riot Games Music e tema do novo “League of Legends” Empyrean Skin Line ao lado de Lil Nas X. A faixa alcançou o primeiro lugar no Hot Trending Song Chart da Billboard.

Jackson iniciou a “ MAGIC MAN World Tour” com shows esgotados em Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapura, Londres e Paris para comemorar o lançamento de seu segundo álbum MAGIC MAN , que teve como aquecimento o lançamento dos singles “ Blue,” “ Cruel” e “ Blow. ” Ele então expandiu a turnê para a América do Norte, México e agora América do Sul.

O álbum foi aclamado pela crítica e teve resenhas positivas, também estreou em 3º lugar nas “Top Current Sales” e “Top Album Sales” da Billboard na semana do lançamento e em 15º lugar na Billboard 200, sendo o álbum de maior sucesso do cantor.

• On December 23, 2022 and January 15-16, 2023, French-Chinese artist Laurie was an opening act for the Singapore and Paris shows, respectively.
• On December 27, 2022, the Dubai show was canceled due to logistical issues.
• Pre-sale tickets for the North American leg were held on January 18, 2023, followed by public on-sale on January 20, 2023.
• On May 15, 2023, Brazilian musician and DJ Alok was a special guest for the São Paulo show.
• On May 18, 2023, Argentinian YouTuber Robleis opened for the Argentina show.
• On December 4, 2023, Wang postponed his show in Beijing, due to heath reasons. He added that he will provide compensation for the losses incurred from the cancelation.

Critical reception [ ]

Dyne Hong praised, "a tour de force of entertainment," complimenting the visuals and stage designs, which made it "unforgettable." Hong added, "the expertly-crafted stage, high-energy crowd, stunning special effects, and multiple encores made for a truly theatrical experience." [4] In a review for San Francisco Chronicle , Todd Inoue detailed, "he took the audience through an emotional 2½-hour journey split into four acts: Fame, Isolation, Redemption and Acceptance. Each segment was broken up by video vignettes, signaling a momentum shift." Inoue continued, "After 25 songs, the concert was Wang's epiphanic statement on the price of fame and the value of personal power. More impressive than his physical feats was his mindset—he was less of a magician and more of a motivator, imploring his fans to manifest the magic inside them." [5] Writing for Atlas Artist Group, Olivia Khiel similarly called it "unforgettable," summarizing, "The first half of his extensive set let us into his emotional, vulnerable side while also getting the audience up to dance along." Of the final half, they said, "When Wang next emerged, the energy shift from restrained to aggressive was palpable. […] He's not afraid to explore his seductive side, a fact that everyone in attendance was more than happy to witness." [6]

Jackson Wang announces ‘Magic Man’ North American dates

It’s the first US headline tour the K-pop star has undertaken

Jackson Wang has confirmed details of his first ever North American headline tour, in support of second studio album ‘Magic Man’  – check out dates below and grab tickets here .

Wang’s “I’m not a mystery, I’m just magic” tour kicks off April 26 at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. The six-date run will then visit San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago and Toronto before finishing up in New York on May 11.

Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10am local time on January 20, and will be available here . A pre-sale is set to take place January 18.

Wang announced the first leg of his ‘Magic Man’ world tour last year , with three shows in Southeast Asia. He started 2023 with a London headline show and tomorrow (January 15) he’s set to play Paris before a February headline show in Dubai.

During a recent show in Bangkok, Wang gave some fans a lap-dance and embraced the front row while carrying a bottle of alcohol.

In a four-star review, NME wrote : “The best moments on ‘Magic Man’ come when Wang combines his commitment with a casual, cool attitude that’s borderline playful – when he edges close to the mysterious, charming persona of the album’s title.
