ONE OK ROCK’s North America 2022 tour kicks off with single “Save Yourself”

Alternative rock band ONE OK ROCK surprised fans with a double-whammy announcement this week. The band not only announced their latest single Save Yourself releases on June 24, but they also unveiled a North America tour for later this fall!

ONE OK ROCK returns to North America

For the first time in almost three years, ONE OK ROCK prepares to take North America by storm this Fall! The four-piece band announced a whopping 23 live shows across the US and Canada. The whirlwind tour kicks off in Austin, TX, and finishes out in Los Angeles, CA. The four-piece band will be headlining along with special guests YOU ME AT SIX and FAME ON FIRE.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, June 24, but you can access the presale now with the artist code “1OKR2022” . There are general admission tickets as well as VIP packages.

The VIP package, dubbed the “ONE OK ROCK VIP Experience” includes:

Save Yourself for this intimate livestream

Additionally, ONE OK ROCK announced their first digital single of 2022, Save Yourself .  The music video premieres on YouTube on June 24 at 21:00 (JST), the same day tickets for their North America tour go on sale.

Just before the YouTube premiere, the band will host a live stream on YouTube at around 20:30 (JST) on the same day. During this intimate livestream, the band will share their thoughts and insight on the new single. Find when to catch the premiere at your local time on the flyer below!

One OK Rock Reveal Fall 2022 North American Tour With You Me at Six + Fame on Fire

Japanese rockers One OK Rock are ready to cross the pond this fall to headline a North American tour, marking their first time stateside in over three years. And they've put together a pretty impressive tour package, bringing along You Me At Six and buzzy upstarts Fame on Fire along for the run.

The tour is set to get underway Sept. 19 at Emo's in Austin, Texas, crossing the country before coming to a close a month later at Los Angeles' Hollywood Palladium on Oct. 20. All cities, dates and venues can be found at the bottom of this post.

One OK Rock most recently hit with their 2019 album Eye of the Storm , yielding the singles "Stand Out Fit In," "Wasted Nights" and "Change." The four-piece outfit have emerged as one of Japan's most beloved rock acts and have started making inroads in other countries as well. On top of the 2019 album, the group also issued the singles "Wonder," "Broken Heart of Gold" and "Renegades" last year, the latter song featuring a co-writing assist from Ed Sheeran.

As for their support, You Me At Six are currently touring in support of 2021's Suckapunch album, while Fame on Fire recently issued their non-album single "Plastic Heart" earlier this year.

Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be available starting today (June 21) at 12N ET (Artist Presale Password: 10KR2022), while the public on-sale for tickets takes place this Friday (June 24) at 10AM local time. Visit the One OK Rock website for additional ticketing details.

ONE OK ROCK is coming back to North America with a tour this fall.

It's been about three years since the band last toured North America. For the upcoming tour, they are scheduled to visit 23 venues in the United States and Canada. They will be joined by English rock band  You Me At Six and American rock band  Fame On Fire .

Japan ’s ONE OK ROCK is set to drop a new song called “Save Yourself” on Friday (June 24) along with the accompanying music video.

The track is the four-man band’s first new single of 2022, and the members will chat about their current thoughts live on YouTube ahead of the video’s premiere from around 8:30 p.m. Japan time.

The “Renegades” band also announced that it will travel to North America for the first time in three years for a month-long trek starting in September. Supported by You Me At Six and Fame On Fire, the band will kick off the tour in Austin, Texas and make stops in 23 cities around the U.S. and Canada, finishing at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Oct. 20.

One, Ok Rock North American Tour 2022 (Charlotte NC)

Fame on Fire

One Ok Rock’s North American Tour is hosted in Charlotte NC on it’s sixth date opened by Florida’s Rock/Post Hardcore band “Fame On Fire” . Here at SoundLink Magazine, we were able to cover them back on the first leg of the Trinity Of Terror tour . This time around , Fame On Fire is the heaviest band on this tour . They opened their set with the first track of their newest album and title track “Welcome To The Chaos” . As predicted, Fame On Fire played the same exact set as the last time we saw them, which isn’t a bad thing , just more of Deja Vu. Check out their new album “Welcome To The Chaos ” which came out this year to hear more from them. 

You Me at Six

English rock band You Me At Six have not been to Charlotte in 9 years according to them and I believe I was at that show if I remember correctly. You Me At Six still have the same energy I remember and opened their set with the popular track “Loverboy” all the way back from their 2011 album “Sinners Never Sleep” . It seems that throughout their set, all the old fanbase showed up singing along with all of their tracks from their earlier years as a band. Their set was pretty straightforward and I can’t say anything bad from a quality standpoint. Perhaps the band is a little more relaxed than I am used to, but that just goes with their more mellow sound that they offer .

One Ok Rock

For the headliner, we have Tokyo’s very own One, Ok Rock. As some of you may know, it is probably very difficult for an international band to come so far to the states and here at SLM, we are very fortunate to have been able to cover this . The lights dim and the 4 piece Japanese rock band storms the stage as the crowd goes NUTS. One, Ok Rock starts their set off with a fan favorite “Save Yourself” . I am a new listener to the band and wow , Taka (Vocalist) has an insane range . I really think Taka is the equivalent to Brandon Urie in Japan.”OOR” played a bunch of anthemic tracks that makes you wonder why they are not selling out arenas here in the States. The band mainly played songs from their new album “Luxury Disease” which was released this year and their previous albums “Eye Of The Storm” & “Ambitions”. The new album has a great mix of English-Japanese , making it easily listenable . I hope to be able to cover them the next time around and expect a much larger scene for them to really let loose on the stage. Check out their new album and our videos we captured below.

Concert Review: ONE OK ROCK: The Luxury Disease Tour at Emo’s Austin

I was astonished to learn that ONE OK ROCK (OOR) was returning to the road with a new album after a 3 ½ year hiatus.  I’ve been a huge fan of theirs since 2015 and have never been able to have the opportunity to see them live, until this tour.  Unfortunately, with just my luck, they had sold out of the pre-sale VIP tickets. On the bright side, they were still selling general admission tickets, and you better believe I bought them right then and there. It has been a while since I’ve gone to a concert, since the last concert I’ve been to was The Rolling Stones back in 2019 when Charlie Watts was still alive, along with the addition of the pandemic halting all concert events and venues. I was excited yet terrified because it was going to be the first-ever concert that I would be attending by myself. After months of preparing for what to bring, traveling expenses, and the infamous concert outfit, the day had finally come.

When I arrived at Emo’s in Austin, I was surprised at how many people were lined up to see OOR. I knew the fan base had grown since the pandemic but did not think it would contribute to a problem when it came to the day of the concert. There were lots of fans, so many in fact, they formed a line across the entire venue. Due to the sun, the heat, and how long people were waiting in line, the venue provided free water for anyone who needed it. As soon as the two hours were up, the line started rolling and I was in.

The tour announced the headliners would be Fame on Fire and You Me at Six, so it would be a while till OOR came on stage to perform. The concert ended up starting at around 7:30 p.m. as Fame on Fire hit the stage to perform. Fame on Fire did such an amazing job at their performance, and it really set the mood for what was about to come for their next couple of songs. They mainly performed songs off their newest album, Welcome to the Chaos , along with some covers, such as “Numb” by Linkin Park, totaling about 30 minutes of playtime.

You Me at Six was the next act to go on, and I was excited to see what they had in store since it would be the first time I’d ever seen them play. Unfortunately, not many people within the crowd knew who they were, totaling about 20 out of 200 people that knew the words and songs that they were performing. Josh Franceschi, the lead singer for You Me at Six, commented on stage, “That was by far the worst mosh pit I have ever seen. Which means I have two theories: one, you have no idea who we are; two, you are trying to sense what song you can mosh to.” The singer assured us that we would all have a good time if we were to listen to their music, which we eventually did, totaling 45 minutes of playtime till OOR was on stage.

It was 9:50 p.m. when they were setting up after You Me at Six had just torn down. Impatient as the audience was waiting after surviving heat stroke and two long opening acts, we were served water once again, due to the audience being packed like sardines waiting for the headliner to show. It was then that ONE OK ROCK finally appeared, and the audience went wild. One of my fears that I had anticipated for the tour would have a bad and bland audience, as I’ve seen it in some OOR concert footage in the states from years ago. This was not one of those cases, and the audience was alive throughout the night.

When it came down to the song choices for the concert itself, I already knew that they were going to debut songs from their new album, Luxury Disease . I had not expected them to perform the Japanese versions of their new and previous songs, as they usually perform the English versions in the United States.  It also surprised me that they not only debuted an acoustic version of “Always Coming Back,” but haven’t performed that song since their Ambitions Tour back in 2017, making it one of the most sentimental parts of the concert. I was genuinely surprised at the fact that they debuted “Vandalize”, their newest single for the collaboration on Sonic Frontiers, a Sonic the Hedgehog game coming out this November,  and I assumed they would keep it from playing on the tour, but I was dead wrong. The concert ended up closing with “Wasted Nights”, a classic of OOR concerts. When they were done saying their final goodbyes, everyone kept chanting for one more song, because it felt so short-lived. The band came out once again, only for Taka, the main singer of ONE OK ROCK, to call all of us crazy, and end the night with one of their songs from their album Ambitions , “American Girls”.

I felt as if the concert went by in a second since it was that much of an enjoyable experience, especially for it being the first ever OOR concert I had attended. I was so glad I got to experience this once-in-a-lifetime concert and had the opportunity to have Taka point me out in the crowd and sing “Vandalize” to me. Now I can die peacefully, knowing Taka had acknowledged me, and I got to check off going to a ONE OK ROCK concert on my bucket list.
