QOTSA Cancel Brazil Appearance Due to ‘Medical Recommendations,’ Prompting Division + Toxicity Among Fans

Last Thursday (Aug. 24),  Queens of the Stone Age announced – via social media – that they’re no longer performing at The Town Festival in São Paulo, Brazil on Sept. 9. While the undeniably disappointing news was met with plenty of empathy and understanding from followers, it also spawned a surprising amount of negative reactions, leading to contention amongst fans.

As Loudwire noted on Aug. 22, the multiday event (which will also feature Foo Fighters , Garbage , Maroon 5 , Post Malone and Demi Lovato ) was set to be their final international stop before resuming their “ The End Is Nero ” tour (in support of In Times New Roman ) in North America.

Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen, as the band confirmed with the following declaration: "Following doctor’s advice, QOTSA regret to announce we are no longer able to travel to Brazil to perform at The Town. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and look forward to coming to Brazil in 2024."

You can see the post below:

In announcing that indie rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs will replace QOTSA, the festival’s social media accounts noted that QOTSA can’t “travel to Brazil” due to “medical recommendations.” While no further details have been given, it’s worth noting that frontman Josh Homme recently revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 .

Endearingly, the group’s posts have received a lot of support from fans. For instance, one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote : “Hope everything's okay. Love u.” Likewise, someone on Facebook replied : “Your health comes way before anything else and true fans will understand this - sending you best wishes and lots of love.”

That said, there have also been a fair amount of people voicing their rage about the cancellation.

Specifically, a devotee on Instagram declared : “We deserve more than this silly ass excuse.” Similarly, another Instagram account stated : “We all know this is a lie. Since August 3rd u have been announcing dates without the scheduled concert here in Brazil! So disappointed, this is really disrespectful!”

Consequently, fans have been going back and forth about not only the legitimacy of QOTSA’s circumstances but also about whether the distraught attendees are justified in angrily declaring their skepticism, inconveniences and the like.

As one person succinctly put it :

The selfishness in these comments is astonishing. Y’all do realize Josh had a cancer diagnosis last year right? It’s not like they canceled because they don’t feel like playing. It’s for medical reasons and they don’t have to share the specifics. Be nice. Let him heal so they can come back again and again. Playing music and touring is actually pretty hard on the body.

Afterward, another QOTSA seemed to feel the same way : “The audacity in this comment section is disappointing, someone is sick and your response is 'PLAY MONKEY, PLAY'! I mean, wtf?”

So, how do you feel about the situation? In general, what’s your stance on artists pulling out of concerts suddenly if it’s for sincere – and even unavoidable – reasons? Let us know!

READ MORE: Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme Shares His 'Go-To' Most Watched Films

Late last month, Homme spoke to the Tuna on Toast With Stryker podcast about his views on bands that don’t recreate their biggest hits on stage . In particular, Homme proclaimed:

I understand that I’m always going to play “ No One Knows ” because I still like playing that song and that’s something that it’s an agreement with the audience. . . . When there’s bands that don’t want to play their big song or their big songs, I always think it’s a little cunty to do that. Acting like a song that a lot of people like is a burden is just a strange reaction to the gift that your fans have given you. Seems like an odd reaction.

Speaking of QOTSA’s North American tour, it’s still scheduled to continue on Sept. 16 at Riot Fest in Chicago, Ill. You can check out all of the upcoming tour dates here and grab tickets here .

Lastly, Loudwire extends our well wishes to everyone in QOTSA.

The End is Nero tour is in support of the 2X Grammy nominated eighth Queen of the Stone Age studio album, In Times New Roman… recently hailed by Variety as “self-produced by band founder Homme and one of his strongest QOTSA lineups ever, is one of the rawest and heaviest albums the band has delivered, and during Saturday’s Queens, New York stop of their The End Is Nero Tour, they proved that sometimes the new material can be a live standout…”

Heavy rock band, Queens Of The Stone Age are from Palm Desert, California, and currently consist of Josh Homme as lead vocalist, guitarist, Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar and backing vocals, Dean Fertita on keyboards and backing vocals, Michael Shuman on bass and backing vocals and Jon Theordore on drums.

After the breakup of his previous band, Josh Homme formed Gamma Ray in 1996, and later changed the name to Queens of The Stone Age; said to be named so because “rock should be heavy enough for the boys and sweet enough for the girls.” The band released their self-titled album in 1998, which was mostly recorded by Homme himself, with the appearance Alfredo Hernandez on drums and Chris Goss on backing vocals. Shortly after it’s release, Homme’s former Kyuss band mate, bassist Nick Oliveri joined the band, shortly followed by guitarist Dave Catching, as well as drummer Joey Castillo.

With the help of various other artists, “Rated R” was released in 2000, garnering a lot more attention than their debut album. Frequent touring helped the band gain more support, but they were still able to get time in the studio and released “Songs For The Deaf.” The record was extremely well received and saw to the addition of guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen (previously a part of A Perfect Circle). The band was on a constant tour, and due to issues, Oliveri ended up leaving the band in 2004.

Due to a leak, their 2005 album “Lullabies to Paralyze” debuted on the Billboard charts at the Number 5 slot, making it their most successful album to date. Later that same year, the band released a live album from their performances in London, England. With a slate of guest appearances, the band’s album “Era Vulgaris” was completed and released in 2007, followed by a tour where bassist Michael Shuman and keyboardist Dean Fertita took over touring duties.

During the span of 2009-2010, the band took a hiatus for members to work on their solo projects. While other members joined other bands, Homme suffered an unfortunate near death experience during a knee surgery, forcing him into bed rest for three months. This caused a plunge into depression where Homme almost considered quitting music altogether; however, once he recovered, Queens of the Stone Age re-released their self-titled album and included a tour and a few large festivals, one of which was the last show with drummer Joey Castillo.

With the loss of Castillo and a new album in the works in 2012, Homme announced that Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl was filling in on the recording sessions for the drum parts, and by summer of 2013 “…Like Clockwork” was released, first in the UK, followed by a US release with the debut reaching Number 1. Homme announced that at the end of their “…Like Clockwork” tour, the band will return to the studio at the end of 2014 to start recording their next album.

Live reviews

Queens of the Stone Age performed at Merriweather Post Pavilion last night (Thursday, July 17th) and were beyond amazing. Josh Homme is a born performer and a born musician. He is charismatic and engaging and his riffs are tight and clean. Best of all, the music (thankfully) does not suffer from the disease that a lot of guitar-heavy music does. It crashes down on you, absolutely, like a wall of glorious sound but never once loses technical precision. You never lose sight of the core melodies. A lot of hard rock distorts when played live: it all smushes together, every instrument fighting all the others like some chaotic race for volume, and it just sounds like noise. QotSA is different. so, so different. The crescendos make the music more powerful. Moments that isolate building drum parts or that isolate haunting guitar riffs make the crashing sound of all of them together feel like the culmination of a lifetime of work. You waited for that drop and so it feels really, really satisfying. QotSA know how to put a song together and then they just know how to play it live.

Their newest album is the most melodically complex of all their albums, straying slightly from the grittier sound of all their previous albums there is a sadder note to it. ...Like Clockwork is composed beautifully, with each song playing off another. Some albums feel like an eclectic mix of ideas spewed out musically whereas ...Like Clockwork plays like a concept album, each song threading into the next with all of them sounding like siblings (and no, not ever like twins) of the others. The lights they used just added a pulse to the whole venue, opening with this bright neon green weaving through thick smoke, and then using flashing bright purples on the down beats of their rougher songs really brought the whole show to a new level of awesome.

The whole band is high energy except Josh, but that's okay. While the bassist and second guitarist jump around and really get into it, Josh has this sleek, drugged-out savoire-faire and you just want to watch the whole of them forever. I was actually in the front row so I got to see what was happening on the wings of the stage while opener Brody Dalle played a set, so I saw Josh Homme with his kids in his arms and around his leg watching her perform and it was so adorable. not that that matters to anyone else, but to me it was an endearing sight.

Listen to them because you'll love them and once you love them, go see them, because then you'll love them even more.

Last year I managed to see QOTSA a whopping five times in very different settings. The smallest show I saw was in Rough Trade (East London - maybe 150 people) and the biggest I saw was at Wembley Arene (13,000 people). I also travelled from London to Berlin to see the play in an outside castle named Zitadelle Spandau. Why did I bother going to all these shows? Quite simply there is no better live band then Queens of the Stone Age. Every show is subtly different, yet every show is always spectacular, QOTSA don't do "off" nights. It's rare to find a band that's so well refined on record but yet is able to take that and expand on it and actually be better live. Songs are often jammed live and broken down to their bare elements before coming back to the song with a truckload of added enthusiasm, always absolutely 100% note perfect and spot on. QOTSA aren't afraid to play songs they haven't played in years, however you will always hear the staple songs from Songs For The Deaf and Rated R as well, they aren't ashamed or bored of their back catalogue like so many bands.

Every member of QOTSA is exceptionally talented at their instruments, such as Dean Fertita, who's other band The Dead Weather happens to include Jack White, or Troy Van Leeuwen who used to play in A Perfect Circle, or newest addition Jon Theodore who used to play drums in The Mars Volta. QOTSA are practically a supergroup in their own right. Part of the reason why QOTSA always sound so good live is down to their soundman, Hutch. Josh hasn't played a show without him since he was 18 years old, no matter what band he's been in (Kyuss, Them Crooked Vultures etc). Hutch knows QOTSA's sound probably better than the band themselves and has even appeared in promo photos with them. In an interview with Hutch I recall him saying soundcheck is all well and good but he know that QOTSA always come bolting out of the gates a hundred times harder for the actual performance, so he has to adapt that into his day to day sound desk work. He is effectively a band member behind the sound desk, not something every band has. Queens of the Stone Age know their audience and Josh is never afraid to interact and really put on a show without acting and pretence. There is something very genuine and pure about QOTSA which is hard to find in music these days and if you have the opportunity you should definitely explore it because if you miss it, you will well and truly miss it.

Last night I saw Queens of the Stone Age at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, NY. His was the second show I have seen at this venue and the second time I have seen QOTSA. The venue is nothing more than a large open general admission gymnasium with a balcony, around the perimeter. What makes this place a great place for shows is that it is never really crowded and all sight lines are good. From center stage in the balcony, the sound quality is a little muddy due to reverberations off the back wall, but from any where on the main floor, the sound is great. Enough about the venue... The show started with a darkened stage and several "clocks" counting the seconds down from 60. Once at ten, and the band was seen taking the stage, the crowds fever rose as we counted down to 0, at which point the stage came alive with a fury as QOTSA launched into "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, but I Feel Like a Millionaire". From this point the band launched into a steady, pulsing, throbbing fusillade of sonic intensity that left the senses reeling. Song after song, old and new, popular to obscure, we, the privileged audience were certainly given a show. High energy, non stop rock for a continuous hour plus, before taking a shot break followed by a 2 song encore. All in all 1.5 hrs. of an outstanding and very entertaining show. Will definitely go see QOTSA again, hopefully not another 14 years later next time. Also will revisit The Main Street Armory again as it is a great venue. Only down side is that the beer lines move very slowly...small price to pay.

I saw Queens of the Stone Age last night at Bud Gardens in London, Ontario. It was my second time seeing them and it was unreal. They are and always will be my favourite band of all time. I may have a biased opinion because I love them so much but a friend of a friend found an extra ticket last night and decided to come along last minute. He was totally impressed with the show and the energy of the crowd. He even mentioned how horribly mundane it is to go back to 'reality' after such an amazing time. The set list was the best mix of songs that I've ever experienced, and I have been to many shows. Josh and the boys gave it all they had for us you could tell they were very into it, even though Homme mentioned he hadnt been feeling well. I was so close I witnessed how the energy of the crowd made him play even harder and play past whatever sickness he was feeling. They even played "You think I ain't worth a dollar but I feel like a millionaire", a song that I never thought I'd hear live, which is the opening song on one of the greatest albums of all time, Songs For The Deaf. All around amazing show. "Little Sister" and "Go With The Flow" rocked my friggen socks off. There is nothing better than a night with your favourite band!

Queens of the Stone Age @FestivalPier was one of the best concerts I have been to! The opening Royal Blood produced great psychedelic tones on a bass and the drumming was absolutely fantastic! I definitely reccomend checking out their debut self-titled album! Queens of the Stone were also great, playing classics like Go With The Flow and Smooth Sailing, while also playing newer tunes like Domesticated Animals and The Evil Has Landed. I was impressed with the live presence and energy of the band, especially from Troy Van Leeuwen and Josh Homme. The average age of the crowd was older than most of the shows I've been too, but many were still very nice. An unexpected feature was the moshing that took place towards the end. A circle pit was formed during the last few songs and there were a few crowd surfers, including myself. Overall, the only complaints I have would be the exclusion of Feet Don't Fail Me and the bad handling of crowdsurfers from the audience. But other than the entire show was brilliant. I definitely want to see them again!

I am unbelievably disappointed having spent £120.00 that I only saw some of The Hives. I left the festival in 30 degree heat, unable to get a drink unless I was prepared to queue for up to, or over 2 hours. This was unfeasible given the temperatures and the fact that I would miss the bands.

I was then told I was not allowed to re-enter the festival if I left. THIS WAS OUTRAGEOUS! We were not allowed to take refreshments inside the festival. We COULD NOT get a drink inside the festival and then were penalized for getting refreshment outside the site. Why was there no re-entry? This policy should have been immediately changed when you realised you were unable to provide adequate refreshment.

I would expect a refund as this was a terrible experience and one I will never repeat. I missed the bands I wanted to se because of your dreadful lack of planning.

I expect a reply please at your earliest convenience.

Royal Blood opened in style and kicked some Royal Butt! Queens took the stage and delivered an energetic, dynamic performance with an amazing set list. The crowd was into it and singing along with riffs the whole way.

I’m not sure if it was the venue or the sound guys, but the volume was at a point where you couldn’t make out the leads and solos, and sometimes even the vocals. It’s like turning your cheap Radio Shack stereo up to 11 when it can only handle 7 or 8. Sure it’s loud but you can no longer make out what’s happening. I’ve heard loud rock shows at that venue before and never had that complaint before (Metallica, Judas Priest...to name a few)

Queens and Royal Blood both delivered the goods though with a very high octane performance. Can’t wait to see them both again!

It was a pretty poorly organised affair if I am completely honest.

The queues for the bars were totally ridiculous and some of my friends left early as they were just so fed up with waiting for a drink.

That said, the bands were staggeringly good. I've been following QOTSA since 200 and have lost count of the number of times I've seen them but can honestly say that this was amongst the best I have seen them. Josh was on good form and the crowd were loving it. (Iggy had warmed them up nicely).

Before that we saw Brody Dalle, whose new stuff is excellent and benefited from the drummer and guitarist from Savages helping her out.

Deap Vally were excellent, as were Skinny Girls Diet but somehow, Miles Kane didn't fit into the line up.

Nice shows, shame about the organisation!

Once again Queens Of The Stoneage were everything I hoped and more!!! They ended my summer last year with a bang and this year started my summer off with the same, a glorious bang!! I feel so privileged to have been able to see them 2 years in a row after having to wait years (which by the way felt like forever!!) I read recently an interview with Josh Homme and was so excited to read that he might do more work with his other band, Them Crooked Vultures; another band I am totally into! Josh always keeps his talent flowing with everything he does and I am in total awe of his work. He keeps me intrigued with his non stop, effortless musical talents and I will forever be a hardcore fan of everything he does.

Thanks for a awesome start to my summer boys!

CONCERT REVIEW: QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Deliver Thunderous And Cathartic Musical Celebration At The Amp in Bridgeport, CT (August 7th, 2023)

qotsa tour 2022 cancelled

Coming off a string of European and UK festival dates that ran from mid-June through early-July, Queens of the Stone Age ( QOTSA ) are touring North America in support of their new album (and 8th overall), “ In Times New Roman…” their first new material in more than five years! Dubbed The End Is Nero Tour, the Seattle, WA quintet formed in 1996, led by front-man/guitarist and founding member Josh Homme (a.k.a. Baby Duck ), visited the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater (better known as the Amp) in Bridgeport, CT this past Monday evening on the fourth date on their 28-city trek.

At 5:30 PM sharp, gates to the former home of the Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball franchise – The Ballpark at Harbor Yard – opened to a line of diehard QOTSA fans that had been waiting for hours already. Nestled along the Long Island Sound waterfront, the boutique amphitheater that seats nearly 6,000 souls opened on July 28, 2021, with inaugural performances by REO Speedwagon and Styx .

The first of two bands performing this night in support of QOTSA were The Armed , a musical collective of at least seven members, with noise rock and post punk leanings. Created in Detroit, Michigan in 2009, the project has featured several guest collaborators on their releases, including QOTSA ’s very own Troy Van Leeuwen who produced The Armed ’s newest album ( “Perfect Saviors” ), and fifth overall, which is set for release on August 25. As membership in The Armed is anonymous, I did my very best to dig up these band-mate names – Cara Drolshagen , Patrick Shiroishi , Randall Lee and Urian Hackney . However, The Armed have gone to great lengths to deceive and misdirect their fans when it comes to who actually is in the band, even hiring actors to pretend to be members, using fake names and several other ruses. So, you can basically take these four names with a grain of salt.

Taking to the stage at approximately 7:00 pm, the outfit’s tornado of bodies twisted and swirled in all directions for the entire duration of their dizzying set, spilling into the audience on more than one occasion. The Armed offered up nine songs best described as experimental pop, including a few which were pulled from their fourth, highly acclaimed full-length album ( “Ultrapop “) released in 2021, including “All Futures,” “An Iteration” and “Big Shell.” As The Armed ’s 35-minute set turned for home, an awkward exchange occurred between one of the outfit’s male vocalists and someone in the audience. Nonetheless, the incident was short-lived and despite the slightly bad vibes, the apocalyptic delivery of fast, hard songs with tonsil-shredding vocals was still a welcome sight to behold.

Next to grace the stage was Phantogram , the electronic, dream pop musical duo of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter . Formed in 2007 and hailing from Saratoga Springs, NY, the two friends who met in preschool were joined by a touring drummer and keyboardist as they mesmerized the steadily growing audience with their swirling guitars, spacey keyboards and airy vocals.

Like The Armed before them, Phantogram also tendered a nine song set which they spread across their four album discography. The heaviest dose of their set-list was gifted from 2014’s “Voices “, including “Black Out Days,” “Bad Dreams,” “Fall in Love,” and one of their biggest hits, “Howling at the Moon.”

The soft spoken Barthel – rocking a Pixies tee, black patent leather boots, shiny silver shorts and fishnets – and her hypnotic, engaging lyrics were on point all evening. As is accustomed when the duo performs live, her vocals were perfectly complimented by Carter ’s atmospheric guitar work (sporting his signature baseball hat) and the rest of the band’s trip-hop instrumentation for a captivating, dreamy set.

Shortly after 9:00 pm, as Peggy Lee’s “Smile” faded out from the house PA, Baby Duck (the only constant member throughout multiple lineup changes), the aforementioned Van Leeuwen (a multi-instrumentalist, including guitar and keyboard), Michael Shuman (bass), Jon Theodore (drums) and Dean Fertita (keyboards, guitar) entered at stage left to a deafening ovation. After assuming their rightful positions and taking up their respective instruments, the show was officially underway with “No One Knows,” from their third studio album and arguably one of their most beloved tracks. Up next was “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret” , another one of QOTSA ’s finest songs (about f*cking, of course).

Spreading the wealth around their career-spanning discography (with the only absence being from their 1998 self-titled debut album), Homme and his supremely cool mates bestowed upon their fans 17 songs which more than adequately displayed their prowess as alternative rock gods. At the pinnacle of their careers, each member commanded total mastery of his craft, all set to a blues-infused backdrop established by Homme ’s distinctive guitar playing style and falsetto vocals.

The first of four offerings from 2023’s “In Times New Roman…” , “Emotion Sickness,” was soon to follow. QOTSA also presented “Carnavoyeur,” “Negative Space” and “Paper Machete” a bit later. Noteworthy, the final entry to their latest studio offering, “Straight Jacket Fitting,” was on the printed set-list between fan favorites “Make It Wit Chu” and “Little Sister,” taken from “Era Vulgaris” (2007) and “Lullabies to Paralyze” (2005), respectively, but did not make the cut. No worries though, as “God Is in the Radio” took its place as the penultimate song to the encore.

As the end of the epic night of stoner rock approached, Homme dedicated “In the Fade” to the late Mark Lanegan – prominent singer for the early grunge band Screaming Trees (1984-2000) and former QOTSA member (2000-2014) – who co-wrote the song with him.

Circling back to the encore, there really wasn’t one, as it was more of an acknowledgment by Homme as to where it should be had QOTSA physically walked off, and back onto the stage. So, for the sake of saving precious time in their 105-minute set, and in lieu of a traditional encore, Homme simply turned his back to the sold-out venue and then spun back around toward us, exclaiming “here we are again!” physically walked off, and back onto the stage. So, for the sake of saving precious time in their 105-minute set, and in lieu of a traditional encore, Homme simply turned his back to the sold-out venue and then spun back around toward us, exclaiming “here we are again!”

With the band’s outlaw swagger meter still registering 100 percent, the final coupling of songs (“Go with the Flow” and “A Song for the Dead” ) was upon us. But before the final number commenced, Homme addressed his loyal, rapturous fans one last time. “It was a pleasure to get to know you, thank you so much. I hope you had a wonderful night. C’est la vie motherf*ckers.”

The first leg of ‘The End Is Nero Tour ’ runs through August 19, with a stop at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, TN. After a festival date in Sao Paulo, Brazil (September 9), the second leg of U.S. dates resumes on September 16 at Riot Fest in Chicago, IL, ultimately wrapping at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA on October 8. Less than a week after their North American tour culminates, QOTSA are off to Guadalajara, Mexico (October 14), followed by gigs in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, the UK, and finally, Dublin, Ireland on November 22.

Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Show After Sad Accusation

qotsa tour 2022 cancelled

Queens of the Stone Age have canceled their Rock Werchter performance with Pearl Jam and Metallica after Josh Homme recently faced legal issues with his divorce.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme was accused last month of threatening to kill his ex-wife’s new boyfriend. It has come to light that the person got court-ordered protection following the threat.

Josh Homme receives threatening allegations

Dave Grohl was recently asked about the allegations. According to a new legal document that was reported by TMZ , Josh allegedly started making death threats after Gunner Foxx started seeing Josh’s ex-wife, Brody Dalle, back in 2020. Foxx claimed that things finally came to a head this past Christmas Eve. Gunner claimed he was doing some Christmas shopping at a mall in Thousand Oaks, CA when Josh approached him and threatened to throw him off a balcony.

In the docs, Gunner claimed that Josh first got in his face inside an Apple Store, telling him … “I’m going to kill you, you f****** p****” … and seemingly challenging him to a fight.

It has been further noted that Foxx claimed that Josh approached him again outside the Apple Store and wickedly reprimanded him. It was told that he threatened to kill him, and before tossing him over the second-floor balcony. He said at one point, Josh grabbed his arm and tried to throw him over the railing.

In the docs, he claimed that Josh dug his fingernails into his hand during the altercation, and he truly believed Josh was going to throw him to his death. Gunner claimed he called law enforcement and cops responded, but not before Josh got out of the venue. He then proceeded to file a police report.

Gunner said that he lives with Josh’s ex and their children in Malibu and thinks Josh broke into the home and even slashed his tires. Foxx beelined it to court and a judge granted him a temporary restraining order requiring Josh to stay at least 50 yards away from Gunner and Gunner’s two daughters.

We will now have to wait and see how this matter progresses moving forward.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE To Reissue Three Classic Albums

More than a quarter century since its primal emergence from the Desert, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE has elected to give three of its landmark albums the upscale re-release treatment, including limited edition color vinyl pressings, exclusive new and restored artwork, and more.

First up is the one that started it all: Back in print after a long, long decade, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE 's self-titled 1998 debut album will be resurrected digitally September 22, with a vinyl release date of October 21. Restored to its original track listing and adorned by the long out-of-print original Frank Kozik artwork, the soon-to-be-definitive version of QOTSA 's self-titled ground zero will feature an obi-strip designed by longtime collaborator Boneface and will be available on standard black and limited edition opaque orange vinyl — both available direct from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE , Matador Records , and at discerning independent retailers.

Following on December 9 will be a double shot of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE 's most recent efforts: 2013's multiple- Grammy -nominated, Billboard 200 No. 1-charting magnum opus "…Like Clockwork" and 2017's redefining "Villains" will both be reincarnated: "…Like Clockwork" returns newly recut from its original master tapes with alternate artwork and obi-strip from Boneface with a limited opaque aqua vinyl pressing available direct from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE , Matador Records , and at finer independent retailers. "Villains" is reissued in a special fifth-anniversary package featuring etching, obi-strip, and a brand new poster by Boneface , and as on limited edition leaf-green transparent vinyl available exclusively via QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and/or Matador Records .

Pre-order any/all of the above at the official store .

"Villains" was helmed by Grammy -winning producer, DJ and artist Mark Ronson , who has previously worked with Amy Winehouse , Paul McCartney , Lady Gaga , DURAN DURAN and Adele , among others. The album debuted at No. 1 in the U.K., Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and Portugal, No. 2 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Norway and Ireland, No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the U.S. album chart, No. 4 on Japan's international chart and No. 5 in Italy — easily the single biggest global sales week of the QUEENS ' seven-album stretch. "Villains" ' first seven days in existence also saw nearly 100,000 vinyl albums moved worldwide, as the record became the No. 1-selling vinyl LP in the U.K., U.S. and Germany. "Villains" also took the U.S. No. 1 spots on the Alternative, Hard, Rock, Internet and Independent Label Album charts and No. 2 on the Digital Album sales chart.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are Joshua Homme , Troy Van Leeuwen , Dean Fertita , Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore .
