Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show will tour over 40 cities across North America in four months, beginning on March 4, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah and will include a two-week run at the history Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Tickets for Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show are now on sale.

Director John McColgan said, "We have assembled an extraordinary company of performers and we are thrilled for this brand new 25th anniversary production of Riverdance to be on the road again welcoming audiences back to the theatre."

The cast will include lead dancers Amy-Mae Dolan, Will Bryant , Maggie Darlington, Anna Mai Fitzpatrick, Fergus Fitzpatrick, James Greenan and Meadhbh Kennedy, troupe members Brandon Asazawa, Belle Brenton, Kieran Bryant, Morgan Bullock, Gerard Byrne, Keeva Correy, Matthew Gardiner , Michael Gardiner, Emma Mannion, Jordan McCormick, Faith Moore , Olivia Nactigal, Cian Porter, Dylan Scholls Zoe Talbot, Mairead Trainor and Elle-Mae Wheeler, Russian dancers Ana Turcan, Eugeniu Turcan, Christine Lesnikova and Alexander Safonov, tappers Tyler Knowlin and Dharmesh Patel , and Flamenco dancer Rocio Dumset.

The company includes TikTok sensations Matthew and Michael Gardiner ( @gardinerbrothers ) and Morgan Bullock ( @yourangleyuordevil ), whose performance of Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage Remix" went viral on the platform in 2020 and will make her professional US stage debut in this production. The cast will also feature, for the first time, children of original Riverdance cast members, Cian Porter and Faith Moore .

The critically acclaimed 25th Anniversary North American Tour was shut down in March 2020 during a sold-out return engagement to New York City's Radio City Music Hall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Riverdance celebrated a return to the stage in the United Kingdom, where the iconic show played to sold out audiences in 27 cities across the country. Then followed its debut at Expo 2020 Dubai with a special production of Riverdance presenting a multi-cultural experience including artists from the Middle East region. A highlight of the four-week run was the Riverdance performance at the USA Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai for their Thanksgiving Day celebrations.

Riverdance The Animated Adventure was released on Netflix in the United States on January 14, 2022, where it swiftly landed a spot on the streamer's Global Top 10 list. With an original score by Grammy Award-winning composer Bill Whelan , the animated musical comedy features the incredible craft and skill of the Riverdance troupe by utilizing motion capture of their performances to create the animated dancing in the film. Tour lead dancers Maggie Darlington and Anna Mai Fitzpatrick and Executive Producer/Director Padraic Moyles were involved with the dance production for the film, while tour musicians Mark Alfred and Tara Howley play on the film score.

Riverdance began its journey as the interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, produced for television by Moya Doherty . This electrifying and innovative seven-minute dance piece was then developed into a full-length stage show by Producer Moya Doherty , Composer Bill Whelan and Director John McColgan . With its fusion of Irish and International music and dance, the show broke all box office records during its world première run in Dublin in early 1995. When the show transferred to London the reaction was unprecedented. There followed a hugely successful tour starting in New York in March 1996, where 8 sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall heralded the start of more than two decades of touring by Riverdance companies throughout North America. Since its inception, Riverdance has packed theatres throughout North America, Oceania, Asia, Europe, South Africa and South America.

Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show has been designed by lead designer Peter Canning, featuring Set by Alan Farquharson , Lighting by Andrew Voller and Video by Cosmo AV along with Costumes by Joan Bergin and Sound by Michael O'Gorman.

The ‘Global phenomenon’ Riverdance has announced a 30th anniversary tour will take place next year at venues around the UK. The Riverdance troupe which created the global cultural phenomenon will perform in 30 venues over the course of 2025 to celebrate a milestone anniversary.

Kicking off at Swansea Arena on August next year, the troupe will perform three nights before heading to cities including Sheffield, Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow, amongst others. The tour will end at London’s Hammersmith Apollo next December.

Riverdance, which has its roots in Irish dancing, rose to prominence and became a headline act after being featured during the interval of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. American dancers Michael Flatley and Jean Butler were among the original performers who captured the audience during an eight-minute dance at The Point theatre.

John McColgan, director of Riverdance, said: “It is both a privilege and a delight to celebrate 30 years of Riverdance and the unique journey it has taken us on.

“In those 30 years the show has transformed from a spectacle into a global cultural phenomenon – continuously evolving yet remaining true to its Irish roots.

“On this upcoming tour we look forward to welcoming the new generation of artists while paying tribute to the talented performers, creators, dedicated crew, and the millions of fans who have made Riverdance a worldwide celebration of music and dance.”

For the anniversary, Riverdance will also welcome a new generation of performers who were not born when the show first started out. The music for the new shows will be composed by Bill Whelan, who won a Grammy for his Riverdance album in 1997, while the show's production will be looked after by Moya Doherty.

“Being part of Riverdance’s journey is an absolute honour, it’s truly a dream come true to get to perform the principal role in this phenomenon,” said Fergus Fitzpatrick, principal dancer and captain.

“As we approach our 30th anniversary, the excitement for the incredible work our team and creative talents are about to unveil is palpable. I can’t wait to see what they will produce and feel the excited pulse of the audience’s response.

“This milestone is not just a celebration of Riverdance’s past but a light that inspires the new generation of performers all around the world.”

Amy Mae Dolan, principal dancer and dance captain, said being part of Riverdance has been “one of the greatest honours of my life”.

She added: “I am fascinated to see how Riverdance continues to grow and evolve over the next decade. I have no doubt that it will continue to surpass our expectations, move audiences and inspire new generations for dancers to come.”

Other venues featuring on the tour include Plymouth Pavilions, Utilita Arena Cardiff, De Montfort Hall in Leicester, Brighton Centre, Portsmouth Guildhall, Bristol Hippodrome, and more.

Tickets for the tour go on sale on March 22 at 10am. More information on venues will be released in due course.

Riverdance the original seven-minute version is first performed at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin and is transmitted to over 300 million viewers worldwide.

The Riverdance for Rwanda video sells 100,000 copies in Ireland, raising over IR£230,000 for famine relief.

The Riverdance single release goes straight to No.1 in the Irish charts for 18 weeks. Single reaches No. 9 in the UK charts.

Riverdance the original seven-minute version is invited to perform at the Royal Variety Performance at Dominion Theatre, London.

Riverdance – The Show, the first Irish dance show, opens at the Point Theatre, Dublin for a sell-out five-week run, with record breaking sales of over 120,000 tickets. Invited guests include the President of Ireland Mary Robinson.

Riverdance marks its 25th Anniversary, back where it all began at 3Arena, (formerly The Point) Dublin with a Gala performance. Members of the original cast including Jean Butler joined the current cast on stage for the finale celebrations.

Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show opens to sold out audiences in Radio City Music Hall, New York.

The global COVID-19 pandemic forces the abrupt and indefinite closure of firstly the North America tour and then the UK national tour.

Riverdance celebrates a return to the stage with the UK National Tour, where the show plays to sold out audiences in twenty-seven cities across the country.

Riverdance is in residency at Expo 2020 Dubai with a special multi-culture production featuring eighty dancers and musicians from all around the world including middle-eastern artists.

Following a two-year hiatus, Riverdance – 25th Anniversary Show resumes touring in North America performing in forty cities.

A special Riverdance performance takes place at the St Patrick’s Day Friends of Ireland Luncheon on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. where President of the United States Joe Biden is a guest.

Riverdance opens America’s Got Talent, AGT 2022.
