Fun tour, informative, entertaining, delicious

Food tour was informative, entertaining, and delicious. Kenna was a great guide. All the stops were delicious. Great to skip all the long lines too! Chowder, yogurt, chocolate, Mac & Cheese, donuts all perfect. Would highly recommend.

Hello MikeV33FL! We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed your Signature Tour of Pike Place Market with Kenna. She is an amazing tour guide that loves to share her knowledge about the market and Seattle with her guests. We will make sure to pass along your kind words and we hope to see you again soon on another Savor Seattle Food Tour!

The tour was fun, the food was fantastic, and our tour guide, Heather was outstanding. Loved the history Heather shared with us!

Hello 834thomasc! We are thrilled to learn that your experience with Heather was delicious and informative. We truly appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and look forward to hosting you again soon!

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our December walking tour with our guide from Savor Seattle, Heather. The guide made this much more than free samples; we learned a lot about the 100 + years of Pike Place Market in the making. We are in our 5os and our daughters are in their 20s and we all enjoyed the tour. Don't even think you won't get enough to eat - we were pleasantly full by the end of our 2 hour walking brunch.

Hello Lori and Dan O! Thank you for joining us on the Food and Cultural Tour of Pike Place Market. We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your time exploring the best the Market has to offer with Heather. Heather's passion for Pike Place Market shines through during her tours because she truly loves sharing all that we have to offer with our guests. We will make sure she receives your compliments. Thank you for taking the time to review Savor Seattle Food Tours. We hope to see you again soon.

We had a blast today with Caitlin!! (Sorry if I misspelled her name. She said it starts with a C.) We had such a great time on the tour and Caitlin did a great job telling us about the city and it’s food. We would certainly do this again.

Hello J-C-T-Linder! Thank you for joining us on the Gourmet Seattle Tour. Caitlin is such a joy to work with and we're so glad you enjoyed your tour with her. We hope to see you again soon on another Savor Seattle Food Tour!

Enjoyed tasting many yummy samples and getting to tour Pike Place Market in an easy and enjoyable way! Highly recommend for families or couples or anyone that wants to visit the Market up close and personal.

There's so much to take in and we try our best to serve as a simple yet thorough gateway into all that there is to experience. Thank you for your review and recommendation. See you next time!

Last weekend I went on the Savor Seattle Booze n' Bites tour and had a great time. What made the tour so memorable was not different locations we went to or the different drinks and food we had, but our guide - Justin. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the Seattle food scene was fantastic and made the tour most enjoyable. I highly recommend and look forward to another tour during my next trip to Seattle

Hi E7386NRjohnw, Thank you for joining us on the Booze n' Bites Tour. Justin's star is rapidly rising in the Seattle Food scene. His passion and connection to food and more importantly, the creators of said food, is second to none. Nothing makes us happier than knowing that you were fulfilled mind, body, and soul during your tour. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and welcome you to come see us again anytime.

Pike Market intro tour.

Bob was very knowledgeable and a great guide. Got to see alot of the marketplace and had some yummy food. Well worthwhile tour.

Our tasting tour of Seattle was around the market place and it was great! Cacey was our guide and she had so much knowledge of the history around the market place. We tasted smoke salmon, pastries, and several foods from vendors. Everything was delicious. This is a must do in Seattle!!

Lucky did a great job, a lot of fun facts and jokes, highly recommend it. Learned some of the history, sample delicious bites and learned my way around the market.

Great tour with Lucky! You can tell he loves what he’s doing and is a part of the Pikes Park Market community. We felt like we got an insider experience.

Great tour, our tour guide Lucky was very knowledgeable and professional. We had a very fun and engaging tour. FIVE STARS

Lucky Lane was a great tour guide. Not only knowledgeable but funny too. There is no need to eat breakfast before starting this tour because you get a little taste of so many delicious treats. My personal favorite was the frozen gelato. I also enjoyed that I got to catch fish at the famous Pike Fish market, and Lucky made that happen. Plan some time to walk around when done with the tour because there is so much to see. You won't be disappointed

Loved this tour. We've been to Seattle several times but this is our first tour through Pikes place and we learned about so many places. Dani was our tour guide and she did a great job with showing us around and giving us expert tips. Highly recommended!

Photo of David N.

My husband booked this tour, under the impression that we were going to be entering the market before everyone else was allowed, as some sort of VIP experience, but that was not the case and I still cannot figure out where the misunderstanding occurred, however, we were fortunate enough to have Lucky as our guide, he made feel the 2 hour tour like a 30 minutes one, great pace, great knowledge about the city and the market's history and a very educational experience. The food samples were really good and we came back to shop in at least 2 of those shops and establishments he showed us. I would recommend Lucky to any new and first time visitors to this great city with such a rich history, where this market feels like the star of its modern metropolis. One suggestion to the manager/s: offer to your customers the "Before the crowds come private tour" and I'm sure that you will have a lot of people signing up for it. By taking the tour, most of the places that were shown to us will offer you a 10% discount when you come back to shop. Thank you Lucky for sharing your knowledge and perspective!

Rowan was great! I learned so much, had so much fun and ate really great food. He made the tour great for everyone. A native to the city you can see how much he loves and cares about it. I would definitely recommend the tour.

Photo of Jeanna Z.

Our tour guide was Matthew and he was super knowledgeable about the entire city! He was able to answer all of our questions and gave us extra time at stops We wanted to see. I would highly recommend going with show me Seattle.

We took the early morning food tour of Pike Place Market and it was SO fun and interesting. We got to sample several wonderful things and have a guide show us through the market. We had 4 adults and a 6 year old with us, and everyone had a great time. The tour guide was great with our daughter! I would totally recommend this tour.

Photo of Samangie A.

Imogen was amazing! She was super entertaining while also filled with lots of knowledge. She knew when to step in and offer up her know-how and when to let the vendors take the wheel. All in all I would recommend the Pikes Place food tour with Show Me Seattle. I'll be booking with them again for sure :)

We were in Seattle on a girls trip. We had been to a Mariners ball game, concert and toured around town on our own. Went to Pike place and did not realize just how big it was. Signed up for "Show me Seattle" walking food tour of Pike place and was not disappointed. Chip was our guide and was fabulous. Great knowledge of the market, great connection with the vendors. Wish we had done this on our first day! Highly recommend

Photo of Jaime J.

I was highly disappointed. I have been on 2 other food tours in seattle and specifically one on pikes place and several at other cities. i have never had a bad experience until now. We could not hear the tour guide. The tast of the biscuit was cold and dry, and tacos where dried meat like it was from the previous day. The others were good. We did the early bird tasting to get a more intimate experience and it was the opposite.

Photo of Carol W.

Excellent tour, our guide had so much information about Seattle! Not only how the city was built but also all about the wildlife and salmon. Very friendly!

Photo of Kaleigh S.

Bob was amazing! He acted as our expert local and gave us insight on Seattle that only a local would know. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Seattle!

11 Best Pike Place Market Food Tours – By a Hungry Local

show me seattle food tour reviews

Looking for the best Pike Place Food Tours in Seattle? Let me break them down for you!

Pike Place Market, established in 1907, is a bustling and iconic historic landmark in downtown Seattle overlooking Elliott Bay. The Market is not only one of the oldest public markets in the US, but it’s also one of the largest, spanning about 9 acres with over 370 shops, craft vendors, and restaurants , which means food tours galore!

Having lived in Seattle for 9 years and still living in Washington state, I’m well-acquainted with Pike Place Market and its tours. I’m never disappointed, as I enjoy trying unique foods and always learn something new about the area despite being a local.

Here is my list of 11 best food tours to eat your way through Pike Place Market.

If you don’t have time to read the whole article, this is my top pick for a food tour in the market:

My Top 3 Favorite Places to Hit on a Pike Place Market Food Tour

show me seattle food tour reviews

Pike Place Market is full of diverse and delicious foods from fresh produce, to locally caught fish, to hot donuts. Because there’s so much to taste in Pike Place Market, food tours can’t hit them all.

However, if a tour samples one of these businesses, I’m a happy camper!

  • Pike Place Chowder – I’m not the biggest seafood fan, but hands down, Pike Place Chowder’s clam chowder is out of this world! It is my par for clam chowder!
  • Rachel’s Ginger Beer – I love all the different flavors and colors that you can find at Rachel’s, it’s so refreshing on a hot summer day. And when they add some booze to it….omg!
  • Turkish Delight – It’s always hard to decide if I like their Turkish delights or their different flavored baklavas the most. Either way, I love this stop!

What to Expect on a Pike Place Food Tour

pike place fish co is something you'll hit on a pike place market food tour

Pike Place Market is famous for fish throwing, endless bouquets of fresh (cheap!) flowers, views of Mt. Rainier , the “original” Starbucks, the Gum Wall, and FOOD!

Pike Place food tours are a fun way of sampling all the flavors the market has to offer led by local experts who know the vendors personally and will share their knowledge of Seattle history along the way.

You’ll meet your guide at a pre-designated spot somewhere inside the market or on the outskirts. They’ll tell you what color shirt or identifying feature to look out for.

Groups tend to stay small, so guides do not need a microphone to be heard. In fact, they are prohibited within the market, which I appreciate.

Because only a certain number of tour participants are allowed in the market at a time, you’ll be given a Pike Place Market PDA issued sticker to wear during the tour to be identified as a tour guest and not a random visitor.

Your guide will lead you from food stop to food stop, introducing you to the vendors who make all the delectables. They’ll point out what makes each sampling special and help you savor and appreciate each food. Sometimes they might have you wait outside the shop while they go gather your food samples, allowing you to not have to face the crowds inside.

fruit for sale at pike place market

Wear comfortable shoes! These will all be walking tours, so make sure you can stay on your feet for about a mile over a period of 2 hours. Most of it will be flat, but there will probably be a steep hill or two.

Tours will operate rain or shine. This is the PNW, so rain is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean your tour will be canceled. Keep an eye on the weather and dress accordingly. I always wear layers.

During the summer, it can get super hot within the market as the sun reflects off all the windows onto the pavement. As someone susceptible to heat stroke, I know I have to prepare for hot sun here.

Accessibility varies . Pike Place Market is old, which means there are still original cobblestones or steps-only places making it not wheel friendly. Check with your tour company to see if they are wheelchair or stroller accessible.

No food destination is guaranteed . While most tours will have their regular vendors that they stop at, due to scheduling and availability, your guide might have to find a different vendor to substitute for another. Just go with the flow and try not to be disappointed if you don’t hit a vendor you were anticipating.

You’ll be surprisingly satiated . Because you’ll be sampling so many different foods, you usually end up eating about a light meal’s worth. You’ll undoubtedly feel full and satisfied afterwards.

Dietary restrictions vary . If you have special dietary restrictions, some accommodations can usually be made, especially for vegetarians. Let your tour operator know ahead of time so they can find a substitute if they are able.

Epilogue: Pike Place Market Food Tours

bread bowl of pike place clam chowder

Pike Place food tours are a great way of tasting what the market has to offer without having to buy full portions. I think it’s a fantastic way to try a variety of foods and discover where you would like to go back and experience more.

I also love learning about Seattle’s history and the fascinating stories about Pike Place Market. I always seem to learn a new tidbit of information I didn’t know before.

Food tour guides help you navigate the overwhelming amount of food stops and flavors in the market, all while keeping the tour entertaining and informative. They will most certainly leave an impression and make your tour memorable.

Book a Pike Place Market tour for food the next time you visit the Emerald City!

🌲 Washington Travel Planning Guide 🌲

🚨  Should I buy Washington travel insurance?

YES  — I recommend  Travel Insurance Master  because you can compare multiple options with one click. With plans starting at $5/day per person, why not give yourself piece of mind? Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

🚗  Is it safe to rent a car in Washington?

YES  — It’s totally safe to drive in Washington. And unless you are planning to just stay in Seattle, renting a car is pretty much a necessity! Beware of tolls whether crossing bridges or driving in HOV lanes. I recommend Discover Cars as they have some of the best prices around.

📞  Will my phone work in Washington?

YES  — All major cell providers work in Washington. However, be prepared for some dead spots in the more remote parts like in the middle of the cascades.

🛏️  What’s the best way to book my Washington accommodations?

For Washington hotels,  Booking.com  is amazing because you can often reserve your room with no money down. If you are looking at Airbnbs for a more home-like stay, don’t forget to check  VRBO  for potentially better prices and options.

✈️  What’s the best site to buy Washington flights?

I recommend looking at  Skyscanner  for finding cheap flights.  Pro Tip : check if flying into Everett is cheaper than flying into Seattle.

🛂  Do I need a passport to visit Washington?

NO  — If you are a US citizen, you do not need a passport as Washington is part of the United States. If you are from out of the country, the same passport and visa requirements are the same as entering anywhere in the United States from your country.

🧳 What should I pack to Washington?

Layers! Layers! Layers! Weather can get finnicky, so prepare for both rain and sunny warm days. Wear comfortable walking shoes that can go from city strolls to mountain hiking.
