Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day. Nvidia overtakes Apple to become world’s second-most valuable company
AI chipmaker Nvidia shares hit record highs in June, overtaking Apple to become the world’s second-most valuable company .
The company achieved a market value of $3.01tn by market close on 5 June, while Microsoft remains at number one after overtaking Apple earlier in 2024. Nvidia’s processors are in high demand as businesses look to develop improved AI computing capabilities. Its stock has risen by over 147% in 2024.
The company recently unveiled its next generation of processors , just three months after its last launch. Chief executive Jensen Huang revealed the chip – named Rubin – at the Computex conference in Taipei.

The World Economic Forum was the first to draw the world’s attention to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the current period of unprecedented change driven by rapid technological advances. Policies, norms and regulations have not been able to keep up with the pace of innovation, creating a growing need to fill this gap.
The Forum established the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network in 2017 to ensure that new and emerging technologies will help—not harm—humanity in the future. Headquartered in San Francisco, the network launched centres in China, India and Japan in 2018 and is rapidly establishing locally-run Affiliate Centres in many countries around the world.
The global network is working closely with partners from government, business, academia and civil society to co-design and pilot agile frameworks for governing new and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) , autonomous vehicles , blockchain , data policy , digital trade , drones , internet of things (IoT) , precision medicine and environmental innovations .

Nasa selects 2024 small business, research teams for tech development.
Abbey A. Donaldson
Nasa headquarters.
NASA will award funding to nearly 250 small business teams to develop new technologies to address agency priorities, such as carbon neutrality and energy storage for various applications in space and on Earth. The new awards from NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program invest in a diverse portfolio of American small businesses and research institutions to support NASA’s future missions.
About 34% of the companies selected are first-time NASA SBIR/STTR recipients. Each proposal team will receive $150,000 to establish the merit and feasibility of their innovations for a total agency investment of $44.85 million.
“NASA is proud to continue its commitment to the creation and elevation of technologies that blaze trails in space and on Earth,” said Jenn Gustetic, director of early-stage innovation and partnerships for NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate at the agency’s headquarters in Washington.
The Phase I SBIR contract awards small businesses and lasts for six months, while the Phase I STTR contract awards small businesses in partnership with a research institution and lasts for 13 months. In total, 209 small businesses received SBIR awards, and 39 small businesses and their research institution partners – including eight Minority Serving Institutions – received STTR awards. The complete list of this year’s SBIR and STTR awardees are available online .
One of the firms working to address carbon neutrality is Exquadrum Inc., a minority-owned small business in Victorville, California. Exquadrum’s proposed technology will contribute to NASA’s effort to make the U.S. carbon neutral by 2050. The proposed technology offers higher energy conversion efficiency with no emission of pollutants. The propulsion system is compact and lightweight compared to current systems. The fuel and its products are safe to handle, and the propulsion system is reliable under extreme weather conditions. The propulsion system has the potential to aid the exploration of planets that have atmospheres like that of Mars.
“Through our partnership with, and investment in, small businesses and research institutions, NASA continues to forge a crucial path in the development of technologies that have a concerted focus on long-term commercial uses,” said Jason L. Kessler, program executive for NASA’s SBIR/STTR program. “Our ongoing support of diverse innovators from throughout the country will continue to foster an ecosystem that will nurture the intrapreneurial spirit to drive innovation and exciting results.”
The new SBIR/STTR investments will impact 41 states, including a team with Energized Composite Technologies, in Orlando, Florida, partnering with the University of Central Florida. Together, they will explore using carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite structural batteries for repurposable space applications, offering a multifunctional solution that integrates structural integrity with energy storage capabilities. The proposed structural battery panels integrate energy storage functionality into the structural components of the spacecraft, minimizing the additional space required for electrical storage while maximizing the available volume for payload. The structural battery panels used for the space vehicle could be repurposed after landing because the thermoplastic-based structural panels can be reshaped for other uses.
NASA selected Phase I proposals to receive funding by judging their technical merit and responsiveness to known challenges. Based on their progress during Phase I, companies may submit proposals for up to $850,000 in Phase II funding to develop a prototype and subsequent SBIR/STTR Post Phase II opportunities .

High winds delay SpaceX launch after a switch to Cape Canaveral
by Richard Tribou, Orlando Sentinel
A late scrub due to weather on June 18 means it will have been at least 12 days since SpaceX last lit up the Space Coast sky with a rocket launch, the longest run between launches in more than a year.
It's not for a lack of trying, though. Bad weather and a scrub as the countdown clock hit 0 last week led to SpaceX taking down a Falcon 9 rocket for a Starlink mission and switching it up with a Falcon 9 to launch a European TV satellite. The first try on Tuesday night, though, faced high winds at the launch site.
The SES 24 mission flying the ASTRA 1P communication satellite for Luxembourg-based communications company SES will now try to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40 on Wednesday during a two-hour, 49-minute window that opens at 5:25 p.m. The satellite will service TV markets in Germany, Spain and France.
Space Launch Delta 45's weather squadron forecasts only a 45% chance for good conditions for June 19.
If it does launch, the first-stage booster will be making its ninth flight and will aim for a landing downrange on the droneship.
SpaceX last launched on the Space Coast on June 7, and the nearly 11 full days between launches would be the longest since a more-than-12-day run from April 7-19, 2023. It tried to launch from the Cape last week, but an issue with the Falcon 9 at ignition forced a scrub, and that mission's new launch date has yet to be announced.
The launch marks the 45th from either Canaveral of neighboring Kennedy Space Center for the year, with all but three coming from SpaceX.
The next launch from KSC could be SpaceX's first Falcon Heavy launch of the year, targeting a June 25 liftoff from Launch Pad 39-A during a two-hour window that opens at 5:16 p.m. Its payload is the GOES-U satellite for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that will next year take over the duties of watching the Atlantic basin for tropical and other dangerous weather.

Announcing the agenda for the Space Stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024
We’re out-of-this-world excited to announce that we’ve added a dedicated Space Stage to TechCrunch Disrupt 2024 . It joins Fintech, SaaS and AI as the other industry-focused stages — all under one big roof.
And we’re excited to share we’ll be hosting a pitch competition this year “The Space Challenge, powered by Aerospace” as part of the event. More details about how to submit your space startup coming soon!
The Space Stage agenda at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024
As the space industry accelerates, new opportunities proliferate for founders, investors, and customers. Not only are the once-astronomical costs of doing business in orbit falling, but so, too, are the technical barriers to entry.
More stakeholders in space make for a lively, diverse, and highly competitive environment crossing private and public markets — not to mention the fast-growing dual-use segment. Discover the challenges and possibilities waiting in orbit at Disrupt’s Space Stage, where you’ll hear from leaders across the industry.
Check the prelim agenda below and keep checking back for updates — there’s plenty more to come!

Summer solstice 2024: Is it going to get even hotter now?
While Thursday marks the longest day of the year in Northern Hemisphere, this will not necessarily be the hottest.
Millions of people across countries in the Northern Hemisphere, including the United States and India, bake in heatwaves even before the summer solstice, which marks the first day of summer.
The daylight periods will reduce after the solstice, while nights get longer, but there will likely be little respite from the spell of high temperatures.

Climate activists on Wednesday spray painted the United Kingdom’s Stonehenge monument to demand phase out of fossil fuel, which contributes to climate change blamed for the prolonged heatwaves and extreme weather conditions around the world.
Revellers gather at one of the world’s most famous prehistoric sites to celebrate the summer solstice. Stonehenge is believed to have been constructed with a specific alignment to the summer solstice sunrise.
So what is the significance of summer solstice, which marks the longest day of the year?
Here’s what to know.
When is the summer solstice in 2024?
The 2024 summer solstice falls on Thursday, June 20 at 20:50 GMT. People across the Northern Hemisphere will experience the solstice at the same moment.
The Northern Hemisphere’s summer solstice typically falls between June 20 to 22. This year’s solstice is the earliest in 228 years, it last occurred on June 20, 1796.
The last June 22 solstice was in 1975 – since then and until last year, it had been occurring on June 21.
Shifts in the date occur because the time the Earth takes to orbit around the sun each year does not exactly align with our calendar year.
Although the orbital cycle and Earth’s tilt on its axis remain relatively constant over short periods, gradual, natural variations create a slight change in the solstice date every few decades.
Why is it the longest day of the year?
During the summer solstice, the Northern Hemisphere will experience the longest period of sunlight in a day or the longest day of the year.
This is due to Earth’s position in its orbit around the sun and the way the North Pole is tilted closest to the sun during the summer solstice. The sun’s rays hit the Northern Hemisphere at their most direct angle, resulting in the most extended period of daylight.
Areas further away from the equator will experience longer daylight hours than those that are closer. For instance, parts of India closer to the equator will experience nearly 14 hours of daylight.
The Arctic Circle will experience a polar day, also known as midnight sun with 24 hours of sunlight.
Is it the hottest day of the year?
Despite the long hours of sunlight, it will not be the hottest day of the year.
This is due to a concept called “seasonal lag”. The Earth and its atmosphere take time to warm up. This is similar to how the hottest part of the day is usually in the afternoon, not at noon when the sun is highest in the sky.
The oceans, which cover about 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, absorb, store, and release heat slowly. The warming of the oceans contributes to the overall delay in reaching peak temperatures.
Why will it get hotter now?
The hottest days of the summer will likely occur over several weeks after the summer solstice, often in July or August in the Northern Hemisphere.
The heat from long daylight hours will have accumulated on the earth. Additionally, even though the days start to get shorter immediately after the solstice, they are still quite long and the sun remains relatively high in the sky, which means the solar energy received remains substantial.
The Earth’s surface and atmosphere are efficient at absorbing this solar energy but release heat gradually.
Due to such factors, temperatures will continue to rise until late July or August, when the energy balance tips towards more energy being lost than gained.
Aren’t there already several heatwaves?
From India to Greece and the US, heatwaves have seared several countries across the Northern Hemisphere.
A heatwave is marked by at least two or more days of unusually high temperatures compared with typical averages in a location during that period or month.
A heatwave in the northeast US, for example, is when the temperature reaches or exceeds 32.2 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) for three consecutive days.
In India, a heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature reaches at least 40C (104F) in the plains, or 30C (86F) in hilly regions, according to India’s meteorological department.
In the US, heat domes – high-pressure masses of trapped hot air – are exacerbating heatwaves.
Humidity can also make certain areas feel hotter.
What about the Southern Hemisphere?
At the same moment as the summer solstice in the north, the Southern Hemisphere will experience the winter solstice.
This is because the seasons are reversed there, so while the astronomical start of summer occurs in the north, the astronomical winter kicks off in the south.
Astronomical events relate to the Earth’s position in space, whereas the meteorological start of a season is based on the calendar year and the annual temperature cycle.
The Southern Hemisphere will experience its shortest day of the year, or the one with the least duration of sunlight.
