Compilations, about the cathedrals.
Formed in 1963, this traditional Southern gospel vocal group (also known as the Cathedral Quartet) appeared regularly on Rex Humbard's Cathedral of Tomorrow broadcast in the '60s. In 1969 they set out on their own, traveling from gig to gig in a converted egg truck until they could afford real tour buses. Over the next decade, the group became one of the most popular Southern gospel groups around. In 1977, they won their first Grammy for Best Gospel Performance, and duplicated the feat in 1978, 1979, and 1982 as well. In 1977, they also won Dove Awards for Male Group of the Year and Best Southern Gospel Album (for Then...And Now) by the Gospel Music Association. During the '70s and '80s, the Cathedrals had a long stream of number one gospel hits that included "Step Into the Water," "Can He, Could He, Would He," and "I've Just Started Living." In 1988, they became the first Southern gospel group to record in England with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for the album Symphony of Praise. In 1989, the group's 25th anniversary, the Gospel Music Voice named them Group of the Year, and Cash Box named Goin' in Style Southern Gospel Album of the Year. The Cathedrals continue to tour extensively in large churches and concert halls.

From the sunny hills of California,USA. Cathedrals; a new but strong duo, have voices with the ability to take yours away. Yes that is what I said, you have to hear them just to understand what it is I am talking about.
With their calming harmonies and range of instruments; from synths to pounding percussion. They tackle all and every form of instrumental with such ease and confidence. The song which stands out for me and appeared to do the same for the audience during their performance, was their song 'unbound'.
The reason I believe this to be the case is because it has a nice call and response vibe with it, most people did come with their other half to be fair so this would be the song if any to resonate with audiences.
A song popular with the female side of the audience respectfully was the song 'Want my love' which is essentially asking if someone wants your love. Girls were singing this song with such passion and emotion, it was nice to see this sort of connection between the performers and the audience.
I will tell everyone to go and see this band perform while they have the chance, while tickets aren't as costly as they will be in the next five years!

- Photography: Amateur photography and video filming allowed outdoors only, in the museums–cathedrals are prohibited.
During the personal tour of the grounds and cathedrals of Moscow Kremlin, you will discover lots of interesting cultural facts and fascinating historical details about the Moscow Kremlin with one of the best expert guides.
This tour offers you a real insight into the most astonishing world heritage sites, including Cathedral Square with its elaborately ornamented churches and gorgeous sprawling palaces. You are bound to experience unforgettable emotions from visiting the cathedrals and then strolling through Tainitsky Garden. You will be delighted to see President's Helipad as well as other attractions, such Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell, the Residence of the President of Russia, the Arsenal, and the State Kremlin building. If we are lucky, we will make our time to attend Patriarchy Palace, along with the small museum of the 17th century where you will see a splendid collection of silverware. Plus, you will also see beautifully carved wooden icons of 16-17th centuries in the church of Deposition of Our Lady of the Robe.
During our walking tour, you will be able to capture the images of all the architectural masterpieces you will come upon; however, you should keep in mind that taking photographs and videotaping is not allowed inside the museum churches.
But before you contemplate the beauty of Moscow Kremlin with your own eyes, let's make a small introduction to what you are going to see there.
What you’ll see on this tour
Cathedral Square or Sobornaya Square is the main square of the Moscow Kremlin that owes its name to the three cathedrals facing it.
It is here that solemn coronation and funeral processions of all the Russian tzars, patriarchs, and grand dukes of Moscow took place. Even these days, this square serves as a site for holding the inauguration ceremony of the President of Russia.
Cathedral of Dormition or Uspensky Sobor is a Russian Orthodox Church dedicated to Dormition of the Theotokos that refers to the Great Feast commemorating the death of Mary, Jesus' mother, and her resurrection before she rose to heaven. The church was built between 1475 and 1479, during the reign of Ivan III. The design of the construction with its five domes symbolizing Jesus and four Evangelists was subsequently used as a model for the other churches to be built across the country. The interior of the church is decorated by fresco painting, while the walls are adorned with the oldest icons collected by tzars as a trophy after having conquered various lands.
The Cathedral of the Archangel or Arkhangelsky sobor . The years of its construction fall between 1505 and 1508. It was used as the main necropolis for Russian tzars and grand princes before its relocation to St. Petersgurg. Today you can find 54 burials here, including 46 ornamented tombstones and bronze cases. Unlike the other Kremlin cathedrals, this one represents a great influence of Italian Renaissance style, which is clear from the exterior dominated by floral ornaments and arch-shaped frames. However, the interior of the church with its numerous icons, including the one of Archangel Michael, is constructed in a typical Russian manner.
The Cathedral of the Annunciation, or Blagoveschensky sobor is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Theotokos that refers to the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus. The church building is attached to Grand Kremlin Palace, abutting to the Palace of Facets. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it remained a personal chapel for royal family members where they confided their sins to the abbot. Since the cathedral was built largely by local architects, its design maintained the traditions of Russian architecture. The most striking distinction of the building is its nine gilded onion domes and roof with kokoshnik ornamentation. The interior is represented by murals showcasing the biblical episodes along with glorious figures of Russian princes and dukes.
Ivan the Great Bell Tower is the tallest of the towers in the Moscow Kremlin, with a total height of 81 meters. It was constructed in 1508 to commemorate Ivan III, the grand duke of all Rus. The tower was of unparalleled height, and for many years, it was prohibited to erect any buildings in Moscow taller than the Bell Tower. The external walls of the building are painted in the way to harmoniously blend in to the buildings adjacent to it. The tower is formed by three octagonal drums, with a gilded dome and a seven-meter cross atop it. Nowadays, the tower houses 18 small bells and four large bells, including Uspenskii Bell that weighs 65.5 tons. It rings occasionally during the greatest religious celebrations, such as Easter.
The Grand Kremlin Palace was built in the period from 1837 to 1849 on the spot of the demolished mansion that had belonged to the grand princes. Its construction was aimed at highlighting the great power of tzarist autocracy. The palace has tremendous dimensions, with a total area of 25,000 square meters. The building contains more than 700 rooms, including five reception halls, which are used for signing treaties with other countries and holding diplomatic receptions, meetings, conferences and official ceremonies.
The Palace of the Facets is a truly mesmerizing building with only one big, vaulted room inside that is as large as 500 square meters. This room was formerly used by the tzars as a throne room and main banqueting hall. However, even these days, the formal diplomatic receptions take place here, which is why the admission to the palace is limited. The construction of the building was started in 1487 by Marco Ruffo, an Italian architect. Most importantly, the palace gained its epithet ''faceted'' due to its facade decorated with sharp-edged blocks that resemble diamonds with their four facets. Adjacent to the side of the palace is the Red porch that used to serve as a staircase where the rulers appeared before they proceeded to the place of their coronation.
Terem Palace is a five-storied building that was used as a royal residence for Russian tzars and their family members. The upper story that looks like a marquee served as a hall where Russian rulers summoned the members of boyar duma. The building was originally constructed in the 16th century, but later in 1635-1936 was totally rebuilt by the first Romanov tzar. The exterior is embellished with flamboyant ornamental stones and vibrant tiles. Inside the palace, the walls are covered with murals that were renewed in 1837 after a series of fires. At the eastern side of the Terem Palace there is a group of home churches and the palace's cathedral complex. Among them are the earliest St. Cathrene Church built in 1627, Eudokia church (1654), Church of the Vernicle (1635-1636) and the Verkhospasskiy (Upper Savior’s) cathedral.
The Tzar Cannon is one of the most popular tourist attractions. Being a purely symbolic display, it was never used in military purposes. However, the traces of firing are still found there. Hundreds of bicyclists packed the Cathedral of St. John the Divine Saturday morning to have their rides blessed before they embark on a 40-mile journey through the city for the 5 Boro Bike Tour Sunday.
Rev. Patrick Malloy led the 26th annual non-denominational service at the Morningside Heights cathedral. Riders, many in helmets and racing gear, gathered alongside their bikes to be splashed with holy water.
The cathedral welcomes bikers, skaters, scooter-riders and “users of self-propelled vehicles” of all ages to take part in the ceremony.
One woman even juggled atop a unicycle, while another rolled up on a Citi Bike.
“This is a great day,” Malloy told reporters outside the church.
“People come from all over the world. They bring so much good energy to us, so much warmth,” he said.
“Maybe the energy comes from the fact that they’re also athletic.”
The service also honored bicyclists and pedestrians killed in the past year. Bagpipes were played as a white “ ghost bike ” symbolizing those killed was rolled down the aisle.
The city Department of Transportation set up tents outside the church and fitted riders for free.
About 32,000 people will cycle 40 miles across the Big Apple starting at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, beginning in Lower Manhattan and looping through the boroughs, crossing the Queensboro, Pulaski and Verrazzano-Narrows bridges to end in Staten Island’s Fort Wadsworth Park.

Moscow city 360-degree virtual reality tour.
Take the virtual tour of the kremlin, moscow river, saint basil’s cathedral and red square.
The Moscow Kremlin usually referred to as the Kremlin, is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west.
It is the best known of the Kremlins (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. Also within this complex is the Grand Kremlin Palace. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.
The name “Kremlin” means “fortress inside a city”, and is often also used metonymically to refer to the government of the Russian Federation in a similar sense to how “White House” is used to refer to the Executive Office of the President of the United States. It had previously been used to refer to the government of the Soviet Union (1922–1991) and its highest members (such as general secretaries, premiers, presidents, ministers, and commissars). The term “Kremlinology” refers to the study of Soviet and Russian politics.
All of Moscow’s main streets start at Red Square , so it’s easy to see why this is considered the heart of the city. A massive space of 330 meters by 70 meters, the square is flanked by the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum, two cathedrals, and the State Historical Museum. In 1945, a massive Victory Parade was held here to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Soviet Armed Forces.
St. Basil’s Cathedral , one of the most recognizable buildings on the square, was built in 1555. The unique cathedral has architectural details inspired by Byzantine and Asian designs, as well as details that resemble those found in famous mosques. There are nine individual chapels inside the church, all decorated with colourful mural art.

Fun Facts about Red Square and Kremlin from our tours
- Red Suare appeared thanks to the... fire. The ffire at the end of the 15th century destroyed all the buildings. After the fire it was decided not to build up the territory. Thus was formed Red Square.
- Assumption Cathedral (located in the Kremlin) is the oldest survived building in Moscow (built in 1474-1479).
- It is widely believed that the Lobnoe Mesto (Place of Skulls or Place of Execution) was intended for executions. Executions were indeed carried out here, but very rarely, because it was considered a sacred place. More often, it was a place for royal decrees.
- After the casting, the Tsar Cannon was initially installed on Red Square near the Lobnoe Mesto and was intended for the defense of the Kremlin. However, it never took part in any wars.
- Tsar Bell lay in the pit for about 100 years.
- During the creation of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the models for the sculptor were his own sons.
- Initially the monument to Minin and Pozharsky was located in the center of Red Square in front of the GUM. In 1931, it was moved closer to St. Basil's Cathedral.
- Moscow Kremlin towers were decorated with two-headed eagles for several hundred years since the XVII century. In 1935 it was decided to replace them with five-pointed stars.
- Kazan Cathedral (the one at the intersection of Red Square and the streets of St. Nicholas) was blown up during the Soviet era (1936). In 1990-1993 it completely recreated.
- In 30-ies of XX century it was planned to demolish the GUM. In its place was planned to construct a building for the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry.
- In the period from 1953 to 1961 the Lenin mausoleum was also a place for the body of Joseph Stalin.
- In May 1987, the pilot-athlete from Germany made an unauthorized flight from Helskinki to Moscow and landed on Red Square.
- In 2005, near the walls of the Kremlin in Nizhny Novgorod town was installed a replica of the Moscow monument to Minin and Pozharsky, but 5cm less.
- The architectural ensemble of the Moscow Kremlin is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A

Relic of St. Jude makes a stop at cathedral in Garden Grove during SoCal tour
This is the first time the relic of St. Jude has left Rome in 1,700 years according to the director of the Vatican Pilgrimage.
By Hetty Chang and Missael Soto • Published April 30, 2024 • Updated on April 30, 2024 at 8:47 pm
Thousands of the faithful made their way to Orange County to experience an opportunity of many lifetimes.
For the first, and likely only time in history, the relic of St. Jude was taken out of Rome and has been touring the United States since September.
Several thousand people are expected to venerate the relic where it is on display at the Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove.

Antoinette Chirgwin waited three hours before the doors opened Tuesday afternoon and said the reason for her visit was her mother who is battling cancer.
“When else am I going to do that?” said Chirgwin. “St. Jude is the saint of the impossible. My mom is battling cancer.”
This is her mother’s fourth cancer diagnosis and for believers like Chirgwin, St. Jude represents hope.

“For the peace in the whole world, pray for the people who pass away,” wished Huntington Park resident, Mary Gray, who was visiting the Christ Cathedral.
The wooden carving that holds a bone fragment of St. Jude’s arm is displayed in a glass case in front of the Christ Cathedral. Each person in line is given ten seconds in front of the relic.
Those few moments are said to have brought miracles in the relic’s tour across the United States according to Carlos Martins, the director of Vatican Pilgrimage of the major relics of St. Jude.
“Her spine took a took a twist right in between her shoulder blades,” said Martins of a woman he met on the tour. “She came to the event and the next day she woke up and her brace wouldn’t fit her. Her spine is perfectly straight.”
Martins explained why many faithful hold such an infinity to St. Jude.
“He [St. Jude] being such a hero to people. It is very meaningful to people to encounter his relics. It facilitates an intimacy,” said Martins. “This arm, many times embraced the body of the world's savior. This is how close we are to Jesus to this moment”
The relic of St. Jude will be at the Christ Cathedral in California until the end of May.

Orthodox Russians mark Easter with night-time service in Moscow cathedral

MOSCOW (AP) — Worshippers including President Vladimir Putin packed Moscow’s landmark Christ the Savior Cathedral for a night-time Easter service led by Patriarch Kirill , head of the Russian Orthodox Church and an outspoken supporter of the Kremlin.
The traditional sung service begun late Saturday, with Kirill delivering well-wishes to Orthodox believers which were broadcast on Russian TV. A procession of white-robed clergy then circled the vast cathedral, rebuilt in post-Soviet times and widely seen as symbolic of Russia’s rejection of its atheist past, as they swung smoking incense censers and chanted the liturgy.
Most Western churches observed Easter on March 31, but the Russian Orthodox Church follows a different calendar.
In his Easter address, Kirill wished for “God’s blessing over Russia,” its people and all countries where the church has a presence.
In a written message published earlier on Saturday on the church’s website, Kirill noted that “awareness of God’s love … gives us strength to overcome the most difficult mental states and difficult circumstances, elevates us above the bustle of everyday life, helps correct previous mistakes and destroys despondency.”
The patriarch this year appeared to steer clear from political pronouncements, unlike last April when he lamented “grave events taking place on our Russian historical land,” referencing Moscow’s military actions in Ukraine and reinforcing the Kremlin’s narrative that Ukrainian statehood is essentially a fiction.
The service, featuring a mixed-voice choir and standing worshippers holding thin red candles, was set to extend well into Sunday.
Putin was shown among the worshippers, standing next to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as the two joined in the traditional Easter greetings. The Russian leader was later seen exchanging festive gifts with Kirill.
Earlier on Saturday, Orthodox Russians headed to churches to have baskets of festive foods, including hand-painted eggs and traditional Easter cakes, blessed by a priest.
Putin has been eager to portray himself as defending “traditional values” espoused by the Russian Orthodox Church in the face of what he repeatedly casts as the West’s “degrading” influence. The country has increasingly taken a conservative turn, with attempts to restrict abortion and broad bans against LGBTQ+ activism and gender transitioning that have met with the church’s support.
