We offer a wide variety of Kayak Tours in several locations in the Everglades.  Our most popular is the 3.5 hour Private Kayak Tour in The Big Cypress Preserve and Fakahatchee Strand Preserve .  We explore both of these beautiful routes year round as we follow the wildlife throughout their seasonal movements.  Typically early mornings and late afternoons are best for wildlife viewing. However, the weather…specifically temperature, dictates much of the wildlife activity.  Since we only do private kayak tours we can be flexible with our start times.

Our low impact philosophy allows our guests to experience the Everglades in a very unique way that will create lifelong memories. We take pride in our tours and have included something for everyone’s sense of adventure.

If Kayaking is your thing you you’ll definitely want to call on us!  Our small business / private tour approach allows us to be the most flexible, accommodating and innovative tour company in the Everglades.  We’ve done it this way for 14 years now because we are serious about spotting wildlife. We are very fortunate to have so many return guests because we never run out of things to do/see and places to explore.  Here are some other kayak tour options for you to consider when booking…. 

Everglades Kayak Tours 

Sunrise kayak tour.

We call the “The First On The River Tour” because you will be! We’ll meet pre-sunrise and be on the water as the Everglades Awakens.  This is the BEST time for wildlife and we also beat the other big tour groups in and out!

Mangrove Kayak Tour

The Everglades is also home the the largest uninhabited mangrove forest in the world!  We explore this unique ecosystem through the natural tunnel systems connecting the upland areas of the Everglades to the Gulf of Mexico.

Full Moon Kayak Tours

This is a tour you’ll want to book well in advance. We set out just at sunset and paddle into the twilight to watch the full moon rise.  Headlamps are provided as we paddle back in the darkness!  We only do private tours so once the full moon is booked we are full.

   Full Day Kayak Tour

You’ll travel the ancient route used by the Calusa and Seminole Indians to travel from the upland areas of the Everglades to the rich estuaries in the bay.  This is a big day and not recommended for a first time kayak adventure.

Kayak Combo Tours

If you can get an early start you can easily combine a morning Kayak Tour with a Motorboat Tour, Hiking, Swampbuggy Tour or even an Airboat Ride.  Between your tours you can have a nice lunch in Everglades City or even bring a picnic lunch with you!

Sunset Kayak Tour

Watching the sunset is a great way to end any day!  We operate year round but the prime time for the Sunset Kayak Tour is Oct-May. Outside of that we can always attempt as long as the weather cooperates.  Another option is to see the sunset from the 10,000 islands on our Motorboat Tour.

Everglades  Cit y is the perfect basecamp for our Kayak Tours and other adventures.  It is considered The Capital City of the Everglades and is completely surrounded by the Top 4 National & State Parks. Hotels, restaurants, a grocery store and all the creature comforts right here in the middle of this beautiful wilderness setting.

Kayaking the Everglades was so beautiful and serene! And not nearly as buggy as I expected. Our tour guide Tod was very knowledgeable about local flora and fauna, and provided very thoughtful touches like extra bug spray, sunblock, and yummy snacks. Plus he had a great calm, level energy and a good sense of humor, and great stories! We'll join him again next year for another adventure, at a different location.

Christian took me out, teaching me to kayak at the start. This was a thrilling way to explore the Everglades ecosystem, and Christian was an outstanding tour guide. We saw only a small area, but it was precisely the area one needed to see to understand the Everglades generally. I was low to the water, experiencing the water, the plants, and the creatures living in and around these plants in an intimate way. This company is great. Enthusiastically recommended.

We took the combo kayak/boat tour and had a fantastic time. Todd and Louis were great guides that were very knowledgeable of the local area and history. The trip was beyond our expectations.

Our family had a wonderful experience touring the Everglades with Tour The Glades. Tod is an excellent guide, he is extremely knowledgeable about the area. We took our three granddaughters, ages 5,7 and 9. Tod made the adventure so much fun for the girls.

What a fantastic experience!! Tod was the absolute best. Book a tour with him, and ask him how he saved my life! :)

I would highly recommend the private kayak tour through the Everglades, preferably with Josh although I'm sure the other guides are as equally amazing. When they say private, they mean you and only you on this trip. As a single woman looking for an adventure, I imagined kayaking through the Everglades as the most adventurous a person could get. I was pleasantly surprised with not only the once in a life time adventure of seeing wildlife, fish, birds and alligators, Josh taught me so much about this precious ecosystem and tugged my heart strings describing the beauty, lifecycle, history and current challenges the Everglades face. I will be visiting again very soon- there is so much to see and learn around every turn! My husband and I went on a fantastic kayaking tour with Tod! Booking with him was extremely easy. I was very nervous about kayaking around alligators, but Tod really put me at ease and had a variety of solutions to make me more comfortable. We started kayaking in a pretty wide open lake area, so I felt very comfortable and decided to kayak solo (instead of share one) and I'm so glad that I did. I'm not a kayaker by any means and Tod explained that the kayaks are virtually untipable - my husband and Tod even stood up in them. The water the whole time is very shallow, maybe 2-3 feet deep max, so if you were to tip your kayak, you can easily stand up and get right back in. The alligators won't approach you, they're trying to stay away from you as much as you are trying to stay away from them. We only saw 1 alligator while kayaking, but we heard more (they talk to eachother)! The trip is fun regardless if you see a lot of alligators or only 1. The scenery was so beautiful and serene. Tod was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the fish, birds, insects, plant life, history, geography...you name it! He was fun, laid back, attentive, and an all around wonderful guide. He even gave us snacks, water, and took pictures! We can't say enough good things about Tod and would recommend him to anyone!

Initially I couldn't calm my nerves when Kayaking in waters swarming with gators. Our guide Josh calmed us throughout the tour, it seems we have watched too much Discovery nature documentaries and YouTube vids (according to Josh). Visited a hidden lake through connected water tunnels. Saw multiple gators (from a distance). Would recommend this tour to anyone who is not catatonic in front of gators

This was such an awesome tour! We did the combination kayak and boat for a full day and it was amazing. We saw tons of alligators and on the boat we saw dolphins less than 10 feet who stayed and played with us and we got to watch them fish! We even saw some manatees at the end and Josh stayed later with us until dark just so we'd have more time to see everything. 10/10 would recommend.

If you decide to do anything on your trip to FL, do this! Tod was super friendly and knowledgable about the ecosystem of the Everglades and so much fun to hang out with. We saw all kinds of birds and alligators and 4 hours flew by. It was super peaceful out on the water and we never saw anyone else the entire time. Tod knows what he is doing, is super safe around the alligators and respects their boundries. You have to do this trip! We had a blast!!! Bring bug spray though.
