Dubai is a cosmopolitan city and a diverse melting pot where almost all attires and cultural expressions are accepted. Swimwear is permissible at beaches, waterparks, public pools and spa areas but is not considered appropriate in areas such as business districts and shopping malls.
Dressing conservatively is appreciated in Dubai's historic neighbourhoods and places of worship. There are specific requirements for entering a mosque, like wearing clothing that covers shoulders, arms and legs – and headscarves for women.
Marhaba! Dubai is a warm and friendly city and you will come across many people who will greet you with a smile and wish you well. A handshake is customary, but do note it is typically accepted that this should be initiated by women.
Public displays of affection are best kept to a minimum. Holding hands is acceptable, but kissing and hugging in public areas is not permitted.
Alcohol is served in licensed establishments such as hotels, bars and specialised shops to those over 21 years of age. However, drunk and disorderly conduct and drunk driving are not acceptable. Use or possession of illegal drugs is also strictly prohibited.
Dubai is home to hundreds of nationalities and both Arabic and English are spoken across the city. Learning a few Arabic words can certainly make the trip more memorable! As you explore the city you're very likely to hear Russian, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese and many other languages. Follow our detailed guide for a list of handy phrases.
Many medicines used worldwide are readily available in pharmacies and hospitals across Dubai, but as in most countries, there are some medications which are restricted or prohibited for use in the UAE.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has full details of controlled or prohibited medications, plus information on what documents you need to carry with you if you need to bring a controlled medication into Dubai. MOHAP also issues a permit to import medicines into the UAE, which you can apply for on their website .
While the permit is optional, it is strongly recommended to obtain it prior to your trip as it will help ensure you have all the correct information and documents. You must also bring your official prescription from the issuing authority of where you are receiving treatment. Please note you can carry medicines for a maximum period of three months. If you have any questions, or want to check the status of a particular medication, contact your local UAE embassy, or get in touch with MOHAP .
To tip or not to tip? The short answer is, there are no rules when it comes to tipping in Dubai. How much you tip varies from profession to profession, and is also largely down to personal preference. It is customary to offer a little extra in most cases, but it certainly isn’t compulsory. Everyone arrives in Dubai with their own customs and expectations, but one thing that's always consistent is the high level of service.

The system to launch the unified GCC tourist visa will be put in place by the end of the year by the regional countries, said Khalid Jasim Al Midfa of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA) at the Arabian Travel Market on Monday.
“By the end of this year, the whole system will be in place. (We) are working day and night and e-service is a vital part of it. We don’t want to complicate things for people and also maintain the same security level. It will be a very good initiative and we will see a positive outcome for regional economies,” Al Midfa said during the panel discussion by the regional tourism chief.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy, said the regional tourist visas would be called GCC Grand Tours and it will allow tourists to spend more than 30 days in the six countries that make up the GCC. "This will make travel to our region more convenient and affordable for tourists.”

“Once it comes into effect, it will contribute to highlighting the diverse tourism destinations in GCC countries, attracting and retaining tourists for longer periods, thus increasing the number of hotel guests and making the region one of the leading destinations for regional and international tourists alike,” Al Marri said after attending a meeting at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on April 28 and 29.
Packages, aligning biggest events
Al Midfa said the UAE and other Gulf countries are working with large tourist operators, and companies to roll out packages that take care of the entire region.
He added that talks are underway with hotels and airlines to create partnerships. “As government, we create the right platform that enables them to create business. So work closely with the private sector we make it happen.”
He added that once the GCC single tourist visa is rolled out, companies and tourist operators will automatically roll out combined packages.
He added that as part of the single tourism GCC, the aim is to extend the length of stay of visitors in UAE. “People don’t go to the US for 2 nights. People go for leisure travel for 2-3 weeks and we want to combine the packages here within the GCC and make it easy and buy a package. We may need to align some of the biggest events in order to work out the timing so that there is no overlapping.”
He revealed that both leisure and business travel packages will be rolled out by the private sector once a single tourist visa has been launched.
Sarah Buhijji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, added that Bahrain is also working on packages for the entire region. “Visitors can come to Bahrain and stay 3 nights, then go to Oman and Saudi. We are promoting the entire region as one package. We have signed an MoU with Saudi Arabia to promote two countries as one destination and we are doing it with the rest of the regional countries,” she added.

ATM 2024: UAE reveals details of GCC’s Schengen-styled ‘Grand Tours’ visa
The GCC Grand Tours visa will allow tourists to spend more than 30 days in the region
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE Minister of Economy, unveiled plans for the introduction of the ‘GCC Grand Tours’ visa, a unified Gulf tourist visa, during the Arabian Travel Market’s (ATM) opening day.
“In a significant move aimed at simplifying travel logistics and fostering tourism, the Gulf Cooperation Council has given the green light to a unified tourist visa that will allow travellers to visit all six countries,” stated Al Marri.
The GCC Grand Tours visa will allow tourists to spend more than 30 days in the region. According to the minister, this will make travel to the region more convenient and affordable for tourists. It will also increase activity and employment numbers in the region, he added.
Rollout and implementation of visa system
While an official rollout date was not provided, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority indicated that the system should be operational by the end of 2024.
“By the end of this year, the whole system should be in place. Many people and teams, led by the Ministry of Economy in the UAE and other ministries in other countries, are working on it tirelessly to make it happen in the best possible way, emphasising digital transformation,” said Al Midfa.
Al Midfa highlighted the collaborative efforts among ministries to ensure a seamless and digitally transformed visa system.

Economic impact and tourism growth
Al Marri emphasised the economic significance of tourism. The minister cited the World Travel and Tourism Council’s (WTTC) research and stated that travel and tourism contributed 11.7 per cent to the UAE’s GDP last year, amounting to Dhs220bn.
“The forecast is set even higher, with an anticipated contribution of 12 per cent to our GDP, equating to Dh236bn,” he added.
“I believe that our regional ambitions should not be to recover to pre-pandemic benchmarks but exceed them merely,” said Al Marri.
Benefits and prospects
The ‘GCC Grand Tours’ visa aims to simplify travel logistics, making tourism within the GCC more accessible and cost-effective for visitors. This initiative is expected to boost tourist activity and create employment opportunities across the region.
The introduction of the unified visa system underscores the GCC’s commitment to promoting tourism and economic growth, positioning the region as a leading tourist destination on the global stage.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has introduced a new tourist visa program called “GCC Grand Tours.”
This program makes traveling across the six GCC countries – UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait – easier.
About GCC Grand Tours Visa
- The GCC Grand Tours visa allows visitors to enter all six countries multiple times.
- You only need to apply for one visa instead of separate ones for each country.
- The visa is valid for more than 30 days, so you have plenty of time to explore the region.
This visa makes traveling in the GCC simpler and more convenient for tourists.
- Convenience: With a single visa, tourists no longer need to apply for separate visas for each country, making travel more convenient.
- Affordability: Simplified travel may result in cost savings on visa fees for tourists.
- Flexibility: A more leisurely and in-depth exploration of the area is made possible by the extended validity period.
- Destination Hopping: Tourists can easily hop between GCC countries, experiencing their unique cultures, landscapes, and attractions.
Impact on Tourism
- Increased Tourist Numbers: Easier travel is expected to attract more visitors to the GCC.
- Longer Stays: The longer visa validity encourages tourists to stay longer, benefiting local hotels and businesses.
- Regional Collaboration: The initiative promotes collaboration among GCC countries, presenting the region as a unified tourist destination.
Implementation
- An official launch date for the GCC Grand Tours visa has not been announced yet, but GCC officials are confident that the system will be operational by the end of 2024. Currently, efforts are focused on finalising the program while addressing security and technical considerations.
GCC Tourism
- The introduction of the GCC Grand Tours visa represents a significant advancement for tourism in the region. By simplifying travel and encouraging collaboration, this initiative aims to establish the GCC as a top destination for both regional and international travelers.
- The visa primarily benefits expatriates residing in the GCC, as GCC citizens already have visa-free travel within the region.
- GCC countries are collaborating with tourism operators to create package tours covering the entire region.
- Investments in infrastructure, such as airports, cruise terminals, and the upcoming GCC Railway, will further improve accessibility within the region.
- Stakeholders are optimistic about the transformative impact of the GCC Grand Tours visa on tourism economies. With streamlined processes and increased collaboration, the Gulf region is positioned to become a vibrant cultural and economic hub on the global tourism stage.

UK Visa for UAE Residents – A Comprehensive Guide
This article was published on May 9th, 2024
Let us have a comprehensive look at our UK Visa for UAE Residents guide. For inhabitants of the United Arab Emirates who intend to visit the UK, obtaining a UK visa is a necessary first step. Whether travelling for business, pleasure, or family vacations, it’s important to comprehend the prerequisites and application procedure for visas. At Property Finder, our goal is to make this process easier for UAE citizens looking to apply for a UK visa. We will do this by offering comprehensive guidance, so keep on reading.
- Requirements
- How to Apply
UK Visa Requirements for UAE Residents
Residents of the United Arab Emirates must confirm that they fit the conditions before applying for a UK visa. These specifications might change based on the kind of visa they’re requesting. Ordinarily, a regular visitor visa is needed for UAE nationals who intend to visit the UK for a brief period. With this visa, travellers can spend up to six months in the UK for pleasure, business, or family travel. UAE citizens who want to visit the UK must fulfill the following requirements:
A valid passport is needed to enter the UK. This guarantees adherence to immigration laws and promotes easy entry into the nation. To prevent any problems during the visa application process and travel, it is imperative to confirm the passport’s expiration date in advance.
One of the most important steps in the visa application process is scheduling an appointment at the Visa Application Centre. That is for identity verification and biometric data. Moreover, it is a required procedure that requires you to show up in person. Thus, the Visa Application Centre will be the location where your picture and fingerprints are taken. A digital scanner will gather your photos and all ten fingerprints, and your documents will be checked to verify your identification.
Visa Application Form
One of the most important steps in the visa application procedure is accurately and truthfully filling out the online form. Giving accurate information reduces the possibility of delays or rejections and guarantees that the application is completed quickly. Before submitting, applicants must carefully go over each section of the form and confirm that all the information they supplied is correct.
Proof of Accommodation
This means you will need evidence proving your intended UK lodging location. The following evidence of accommodations examples will suffice:
- Hotel reservation.
- An invitation from the host.
- A confirmation from a tour operator.
- A rental agreement or contract.
Providing proof of lodging arrangements made in the UK is necessary to have your visa application approved. These might include rental contracts, hotel reservations, or an invitation letter from a UK-based host. Verifiable housing information reassures immigration officials that the applicant will have appropriate housing during their visit.
Financial Means
What this means is that you should provide bank statements or evidence of income. This is to demonstrate that you have enough money to support yourself while living in the UK. Thus, this can include a letter from your work. So, if you are travelling from Dubai for instance, make sure you get your bank account in the UAE ready along with a visa card.
Applicants must show proof that they have enough money to pay for their journey to the UK. Moreover, it is proof they won’t need to use public funds while they’re there. Giving specific proof of financial resources bolsters the application for a visa and shows the applicant can sustain while in the UK. In addition, you will also need proof of employment as well as educational status.
Previous Travel History
During the visa application procedure, applicants must reveal their prior trip itinerary. This includes disclosing details regarding previous international trips and compliance with visa procedures. Providing precise and thorough information regarding prior travel experiences aids immigration authorities in evaluating the applicant’s general reliability. It also aids compliance with immigration laws and travel habits. It is necessary to fully disclose any prior travel history in order to prevent any problems with the visa application procedure.
Legal Residence Proof
Lastly, you must provide documentation proving your lawful presence in the UAE. This is the case if you are not a citizen of the UAE.
UK Visa UAE Residents Types
Just like the UAE has various visa types , the same applies to UK visas. Below is the information on the several kinds of UK visas accessible to UAE citizens. We’ll go through the several visa choices designed especially for UAE citizens who want to visit the UK in this thorough review. Knowing the many sorts of visas and their criteria is crucial whether you’re organising a vacation, visiting family, or looking into business. Come explore the UK visa choices that are tailored to meet the various requirements of UAE citizens.
UAE Tourist Visa for UK Residents
Those from the UK who want to travel to the UAE for vacation or business can apply for a UAE tourist visa. With this kind of visa, citizens of the UK are free to enjoy the UAE’s breathtaking scenery, dynamic culture, and tourist destinations. UK citizens who wish to visit the UAE on vacation must fulfil specific requirements and provide the necessary paperwork, as above. The duration depends on the applicant’s desired length of stay and the particular visa requirements in effect at the time of application. Thus, the duration of the tourist visa may change.
