For those who wish to find one of the most iconic views of the Eiffel Tower (especially at night) , you need to look no further than the oh-so-Haussmannian rue Saint-Dominique.

Situated in the 7th arrondissement of the city, the prettiest view of the city is to be found at night, on the hour, every hour, when the tower glitters for a five-minute free show.

Paris in the evening: The glittering Eiffel Tower by night in France

Far from the bustling crowds of Paris and high above the city, the Parc de Saint-Cloud is an oasis of calm a mere metro ride away from the city. Stroll around the gardens and wander along the long herbaceous borders.

This green space also makes for the perfect place in which to enjoy a picnic in the summer months! After all, the gardens are all that remains of a once-grand château that dominated the park.

Today, the place is a haven for cycling enthusiasts and is the perfect location to head to on a sunny day. On one particular summer visit to the park, we even managed to find wild strawberries…

Although the Georges Pompidou centre is much more famous for its abundance of modern artwork ( think Picasso, Kandinsky, and Braques to name but a few… ), the view from the top should not be missed. Situated in the very heart of Le Marais area of Paris, the centre is a great place to capture some of those iconic Parisian rooftops ( particularly at sunset ).

If you want to skip out on the museum and simply enjoy the Eiffel Tower view instead, then it’s perfectly possible to simply buy a rooftop pass (those under 26 who are residents of the EU can go for free). If you’re planning on visiting the entire complex, then purchase your Pompidou Centre Ticket here.

It may well surprise you, but one of the best Eiffel Tower pictures spots is on the Parisian metro itself. There may be a fair few metro stations below ground in Paris, but of course, the only way to see the Eiffel Tower is  above  ground.

And so the metro line running between Bir Hakeim and Passy should not be missed if you’re looking for unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower. The metro line is 6, between Passy and Bir Hakeim, and offers a fantastic view of the Tour Eiffel.

If you do choose to capture this image, be sure to stand with your camera at the ready as you’ll only catch a glimpse of the Iron Lady for a few seconds at most (meaning that this is one of the hardest Eiffel Tower views to capture) …

Editor’s note: the Deli-Cieux Café at Printemps is now permanently closed. Instead, in its place is a fine-dining establishment known as La Perruche. Though notably more expensive than its predecessor, the indoor and outdoor dining spaces offer stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

If there’s anywhere I could return to over and over again to spot the Eiffel Tower from, it’s café Deli-Cieux . Situated on the roof of the Printemps department store, not far from Opera, it’s the perfect place to grab a couple of coffees, use the fast WiFi and enjoy the view; all this for less than €5.

Situated in the very heart of the 20e arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Père Lachaise cemetery, Parc de Belleville is where actual Parisians come to hang out. With a great view, its own secret vineyard and plenty of green space, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic in the summer months.

unusual places to see the eiffel tower in paris france

I’ve said this before countless times, and no doubt I’ll say it again, but the best place to spot the Eiffel Tower at sunrise is from the Parvis de Trocadéro. Oh, and from the water mirror (Fountain of Warsaw) below. Throughout the year, the sun rises up, from behind the Eiffel Tower, filling the sky with candy colours.

Plus, if you choose to visit Trocadéro in the morning, rather than the evening, you’re sure to miss out on the crowds of tourists. For more information on how to enjoy the best sunrise view of the Eiffel Tower, check out this guide to visiting La Tour Eiffel at sunrise .

Of all the unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris, seeing the Dame de Fer from the top of the Pantheon is probably my favourite. It’s here you’ll find the iconic Fouquet’s Pendulum (or, a replica at least!), and many famous French people entombed.

One of the highest honours a French citizen can receive is to be interred in the Pantheon. The likes of Voltaire, Marie Curie and many more have all found their final resting places within the marble walls of the Paris Pantheon. For more information, check this guide to the Paris Pantheon .

There’s no denying that the best view of the Eiffel Tower in all of Paris must be from the top of the Arc de Triomphe! I’ve previously said that you  shouldn’t go up the Eiffel Tower  when visiting the city.

Mainly because it’s in the centre of a green space and so you can’t really see those iconic rooftops, but also partly because you can’t see the Eiffel Tower if you’re on it!

arc de triomphe

And if you’re  still  stuck for ideas, almost every rooftop in the city offers views onto the Eiffel Tower. There are actually laws in place preventing the construction of skyscrapers and tall buildings within the city limits.

This is why the majority of tall buildings in the city lie in La Defense area of Paris. These decrees also mean that almost every spot of the city offers good views onto the Eiffel Tower!

If you’re anything like me (self-confessed Paris obsessed), then the likelihood is that you may well have more than a few souvenirs lying around the house. Why not put that postcard in a frame and place it on your desk? Or add some French-themed stickers to your mood board?

I’ll be the first to admit that I have well and truly tried to bring Paris home to the UK with me (vintage Paris maps on the walls, Eiffel Tower bedspread, French-inspired clothing, all of the Eiffel Tower memorabilia !!)

I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again: one of the best free Parisian views can be found at the very top of the Galeries Lafayette flagship store along Boulevard Haussmann.

The rooftop terrace offers 180-degree views over the city, including onto Opera Garnier, plenty of Hausmmannian architecture, and of course views of the Eiffel Tower.

Free to visit, the terrace is open year ’round, though is closed during particularly bad weather (such as rain or snow). Visit the store itself at any time of the year and you can enjoy the stunning Art Deco cupola with its impressive stained glass window and indoor terraces.

Come Christmastime, a giant Christmas tree is erected in the heart of the central store dome, with a quirky and new theme for the tree each year.

The tallest structure in Paris (with the exception of the Eiffel Tower, bien sûr), is that from the top floor of Montparnasse Tower. Located in the 15th arrondissement of the city, this 59-floor skyscraper is pretty controversial in the city on account of how ‘ugly’ locals regard this 1960s build to be.

Though most of the tower is private, closed off to the public, and is used as office space, the top floor and the rooftop offer stunning panoramic views of the city, including a fantastic Eiffel Tower view.

Head to the top and you can enjoy a beer, a 360-degree view of the city, or simply sit back and watch the world go by. Purchase your Tour Montparnasse tickets here.

When in Paris, the one district you absolutely cannot miss is that of Montmartre . Otherwise known as the 18th arrondissement of the city, this is where visitors and tourists alike will soon discover the ‘Paris’ of old that everyone so raves about.

Between small house museums and cobbled lanes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this whimsical Parisian district. Not only that, but Montmartre also happens to be home to the magnificent Sacré-Coeur , and a large open space in front of the ecclesiastical building which offers stunning views over Paris, including of the Iron Lady.

A favourite among wedding photographers, Pont de Bir Hakeim is characterised by its light-filled arches and unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower. Best seen early in the morning, when the light is as its best, this bridge also offers a viewing platform of Paris and the River Seine roughly halfway along the bridge.

Perfect to enjoy cherry blossom season in the springtime , Champ de Mars is also home to some of the best magnolia trees at the same time of the year. Popular all year round, this green space resides below La Tour Eiffel and is especially enjoyed when it comes to Parisian picnics in the summer!

Where to see the very best magnolia trees in Paris France: Here's your complete guide to spotting spring blooms in the French capital!

Often cited to be the most beautiful bridge in the world, Pont Alexandre III is easily one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris . And not just because the sumptuous early 20th-century structure is in itself incredibly beautiful.

Instead, the bridge arches its way across the Seine and offers views of many iconic Parisian landmarks, including of Les Invalides, Petit Palais, and the Tour Eiffel.

If you’re looking for a beautiful morning walk in Paris, then you simply need to head to Avenue Rapp. Square Rapp and Avenue Rapp can be found in the heart of all the action.

Overlooking the Eiffel Tower and all Haussmannian architecture in style, this hidden gem of the 7th arrondissement is a pretty escape from the hustle and bustle of other tourist hotspots in the area.

Spanning the River Seine, the pedestrian footbridge of Passerelle Debilly was constructed in 1899 and opened just in time for the World Fair of 1900. Built so as to serve as a pedestrian footbridge connecting the two sides of the Seine, today the bridge offers one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris!

Editor’s note: Due to a terrible fire at Notre Dame in April 2019 , the French ecclesiastical building is closed for renovation works and repairs until further notice. However, the cathedral can still be admired from fairly up close and from various vantage points around Paris, including on Île de la Cité itself.

With its flying buttresses and world-famous gargoyles, there are few Cathedrals in France, nor indeed in Europe, quite as iconic as that of Notre Dame. Made famous thanks to a Victor Hugo novel of the 1800s, one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris can be found if you pay the small fee to go all the way up to the towers and enjoy the panoramic view from the top.

If you’re wondering ‘can you see the Eiffel Tower from the Seine?’ then I have great news for you! Indeed, you can enjoy views of La Dame de Fer from all along the River Seine.

The view begins from Pont Neuf and then the Eiffel Tower can be spied all the way along the banks, particularly on the right bank (rive droite) as the Eiffel Tower is located on the left bank (rive gauche).

The largest cemetery, and technically the largest park of intra-muros Paris is that of Père-Lachaise, which is to be found in the 20th arrondissement of the city.

No one quite knows how many people are interred in the graveyard, though some estimates put the figure at up to 6 million souls. As well as burials, in a little-visited corner of the cemetery, you’ll find one of the best Eiffel Tower views in all of Paris.

Situated on Place de la Concorde  (the largest public square in Paris) , Hôtel de la Marine has seen plenty of history since its construction in the latter half of the 18th-century.

Once used as the headquarters for the head of the French Navy, today the grand building is open to the public once more, and several of the State Rooms offer breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower over Place de la Concorde.

Place de la Concorde Paris, France

Of all the bridges in Paris (and there are technically over 30) , Pont des Arts is easily one of the most famous of them all thanks to its central location and former status as the ‘love lock bridge’.

Spanning a stretch of the Seine between the Louvre Museum and the Institut de France, the bridge is one of the most beautiful spots in Paris from which to enjoy beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower.

Real-Life Emily in Paris: Things That Should Have Happened to Emily

One of the very best places to see the Eiffel Tower if you want to find a shot surrounded by Haussmann architecture is that of rue de l’Université. Situated in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, this is easily one of the most Instagrammable streets in Paris!

Rue de l'Université

If you’re in search of some close up shots of the Eiffel Tower or looking for a unique back drop for a fashion shoot in Paris, then the Promenade d’Australie offers one of the most beautiful unobscured Eiffel Tower views. Located in the 15th arrondissement, this pedestrianised walkway was created in the 1940s.

If you want a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower served alongside a delicious cocktail, then you need only to visit one of the many incredible rooftop bars dotted across Paris.

One of my all-time favourites is that of ILVOLO, which is actually on the roof of the Novotel hotel near Montparnasse in the 15th arrondissement. Though the cocktails and wines are a little on the pricey side of things, the view is well worth the price tag if you’re looking for a special occasion view.

It goes without saying that, if you truly want to experience the best of the view, then you should be sure to head to the rooftop bar at sunset so that you get to see the Eiffel Tower transform from day to night.

One of the very best Eiffel Tower photo spots is also one most beautiful streets in all of Paris . Avenue de Camoëns can be found in the 16th arrondissement of the city and can be found in the Muette district of the area. Best seen at sunrise so as to enjoy the stunning light on the Eiffel Tower, it’s truly a must-see while in the city.

Avenue de Camoëns

One of the quieter cemeteries in Paris is Passy Cemetery, which lies on the outer boundaries of Passy and gives views onto the Eiffel Tower. The cemetery was founded in 1820 and was actually established in order to replace the former  l’ancien cimetière communal de Passy .

By the latter half of the 19th-century, thanks to its position in one of the wealthiest areas of Paris, the Passy Cemetery had become a veritable necropolis for the well-to-do of the French capital.

Vous pouvez rejoindre l'île depuis le pont Pont Bir Hakeim.

Where to Get the Best View of the Eiffel Tower

Admiring the Eiffel Tower is a part of the magic of Paris. This guide includes my favourite Eiffel Tower views & experiences, day and night.

Updated October 2022

This guide to enjoying the best Eiffel Tower views is a combination of moments from my three most recent trips to Paris.  In 2019 I visited with my husband and in the fall of 2021 I took a solo trip to Paris and enjoyed 10 magical days on my own in my favourite city. I just returned from a third trip with close girlfriends; we were celebrating a special birthday.  There are specific tips here for how, where  and when to see the Eiffel Tower, with all spots marked on a Google map. You will also find a collection of favorite Paris moments that I hope will help you plan your own special trip.

Because the Eiffel Tower is so popular, I appreciate the chance to enjoy it away from the crowds, so I’ve included a few less popular spots with beautiful Eiffel Tower views.

Paris & The Best Views of the Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower Views - Daytime

A Velib rental bike at the River Seine in Paris

Rue de l'Université

One of my favourite spots to see the Eiffel Tower during the day is in the 7th arrondissement. The Rue de l’Université is a residential street which ends at the Champ de Mars park. This little stretch from the Avenue de la Bourdonnais has pretty architecture and the leafy setting of the park at it’s end. The reason I like it during the day is the charming architecture perfectly frames the view of the Eiffel Tower. At night, that’s sort of lost, although the tower is still gorgeous of course.

You’ll get lovely views and photos here, but the word is out, so be prepared to get strategic with your photo taking or wait for a lull in visitors. (I wasn’t exactly alone when this photo was taken on my solo trip – it required a little editing).

This photo was taken on my solo trip to Paris in September 2021. I spent 10 marvelous days on my own and have written all about it here with suggestions for making the most of your time: Solo Trip to Paris – Complete Guide.

Promenade Marie de Roumanie

Eiffel Tower View from the Promenade Marie de Roumanie

A daytime stroll on the  Promenade Marie de Roumanie on the Left Bank of the Seine gives you a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower. If you happen to be with small children walk along the promenade toward the Pont d’léna, the 19th century bridge located closest to the tower. You’ll find a carousel here with an Eiffel Tower view – you can enjoy the scenery while the children enjoy a ride. (Note that the carousel typically closes around 8 pm.)

The Museum of Architecture Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower out the window

Museum of Architecture & Patrimoine

After your stroll along the Left Bank, you can cross the Pont d’léna bridge to the Right Bank and visit a wonderful little lesser-known museum, the Cité de l’Architecture & Du Patrimoine. It offers a collection of French architecture, from the Middle Ages to present day. It’s located in the Palais de Chaillot building at the Trocadero and its secret is the lovely views you will enjoy from inside the museum: its windows frame a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower.

It is open some evenings so check current times if you want to visit during sunset which would be gorgeous. There’s also a 4-star (expensive) restaurant here called Girafe. It has a terrace with gorgeous Eiffel Tower views. (Open for lunch and dinner and reservations recommended.)

Best Views of the Eiffel Tower at Night

If daytime views of the Eiffel Tower are beautiful, evening views are pure magic. Evening in Paris is my favourite time;  daytime itineraries make way for more relaxed enjoyment and lights make the city sparkle. The Louvre Museum takes on a magical glow, glimmering boats glide along the Seine, and the Eiffel Tower comes to life.

Place du Trocadero

The Eiffel Tower is on Paris’s Left Bank in the 7th arrondissement and the Place Du Trocadero is directly across the river. On a recent trip when my husband and I were staying in the 16th at a hotel called Le Dokhan’s , we walked from the hotel toward the Place Du Trocadero to get our first evening glimpse of “ La Dame de Fer”,   the Iron Lady.

The Place Du Trocadero is a  large paved esplanade, lined by splendid museums . It was busy with children flying twirly paper helicopters and lines formed at carts preparing delicious smelling crepes. And there was a lot of photo taking.

I could see why. I looked out over the Jardins du Trocadero and it felt as if we had arrived in a grand open theatre with the Eiffel Tower performing on a stage below.  The star of the show glowed against a velvet sky. I had a “pinch me, I’m in Paris” moment. This was a spectacular vantage point – I understood why many people say it’s their favourite place for views of the Eiffel Tower.

Aglow with twinkling lights, I had a  “pinch me, I’m in Paris” moment

And then, the tower came to life. What seemed like a thousand orbs of light flashed on and off in dramatic sequence. I had forgotten that this five-minute light show, “Illuminations”, occurs on the hour, from dusk to 1 am. Our timing was lucky.

To add to the effect of 20,000 flashing bulbs, a beam of light was projected from the tower, radiating up to 80 kilometres, apparently. It was mesmerizing.

We walked toward the end of the terrace, where broad steps descend to the Trocadéro Gardens and on to the Seine. The view from here was even better, but the chance to take a good photo was not.  We snapped a few shots, but with so many people, it was a challenge.

Instead I took a few photos of   the tower, with the beautiful golden statues of the Palais de Chaillot . The Palais  was built in 1937 for the World’s Fair (as were the Trocadero Gardens), and its symmetrical wings are very striking . It has  three museums and a restaurant, so is also worth daytime exploration.

I wanted to walk down the steps and admire the Jardins du Trocadéro and its gorgeous fountains. We might have also had a better chance at a photo there, but we were jet-lagged, so returned to the hotel. It was a lovely first evening in Paris.

A gorgeous night time view of the Eiffel Tower from the Champ de Mars park in Paris. Visitors are spread out on the lawn in front of the tower

Parc du Champ-de-Mars

In the 7th arrondissement, just in front of the Eiffel Tower is a lovely green-space called the Champ-de-Mars. It’s a wide-open lawn with spectacular Eiffel Tower views and the perfect place to bring a picnic or bottle of wine. You’ll probably be sharing this space with many other people, but the view is so marvelous, you won’t mind. If you visit in the evening, make sure you stay long enough to see the Eiffel Tower come to life.

Eiffel Tower Views from The Seine

We met a friend for dinner at a traditional French Seafood restaurant, Le Grand Café Capucines. After dinner he suggested we rent scooters and see some of the Paris sites at night. (This friend is 22.) I was hesitant to ride a scooter in Paris, but we agreed to try it and go very slowly. Our first stop was the Louvre.

The Louvre was gorgeous at night and it was a treat to see it without the crowds. We also stopped at the beautiful Palais Garnier, the Paris opera house.

We carried on to the path which follows the right bank of the Seine and soon the Eiffel Tower revealed itself in the distance. We passed Le Grand Palais and stopped to sit. It was nice to have a break from the scooter  – although it’s fun, I find them nerve wracking. I actually don’t recommend it, I think they are too dangerous. But we did take some fun photos with a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower.

Susan Heinrich riding a scooter past the Eiffel Tower at night

We continued along the Seine and the view became even more lovely, with the tower’s twinkling lights reflected in the river.  We parked the scooters just beyond the Pont de l’Alma (Alma Bridge) and sat admiring the pretty scene with hardly anyone else around. It was a complete contrast to the Trocadero.

The right bank of the Seine was the perfect place to admire the Eiffel Tower at night. We were far enough away to see it all and close enough to feel as if we were right there. The boats and the lights on the river added to the ambiance.

We felt as though we had the scene to ourselves. My husband and I decided to snap some photos since it was j ust our little Parisian trio: Me, Sean, & La Tour Eiffel.

I would recommend this walk along the Right Bank. For a shorter walk, start at the Pont Alexander. If you don’t want a walk, just the Eiffel Tower view, get off at the Alma Marceau Metro station and walk down to the Seine. You should be well positioned for a pretty view and great photo opportunities.

The Eiffel Tower from Le Metro

Le Metro? Stay with me. One evening we went to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the 6th arrondissement to have dinner at Le Procope. This is a quintessential bistro experience at what’s considered the oldest cafe in P aris , dating to 1686. W riters and intellectuals famously gathered here, among them Rousseau and Diderot, and a hat of Napoleon Bonaparte’s is on display here. Yes, it was actually Napoleon’s hat – I did ask the waiter.

Le Procope feels like it should be very touristy but it was suggested to us by a Parisian friend, because Parisians also come here.  We really enjoyed it. This is the place to order Duck Confit, or Coq au Vin, if you haven’t yet tried one of the Paris bistro classics.

Our dinner at Le Procope required a Metro trip on line 6 which crosses over the Seine on the Pont de Bir-Hakeim (Bir-Hakeim Bridge) and offers a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower and the lights of the river.

There was something special about passing over the Seine at night – we were elevated with  an unobstructed view. I think the surprise of it made it one of my favourite Eiffel Tower views of the trip. E ven a Metro ride can feel magical in Paris.

cocktails with a view at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris

Rooftop Cocktails with Eiffel Tower Views

I asked our concierge at Le Dokhan’s where to go for a special cocktail in Paris.  He did not hesitate: The Peninsula Paris .  This stunning hotel was built in 1908 and has a fascinating history. It was a field hospital in World War I and headquarters of the German high command during the German occupation of Paris in World War II. In between the wars, it served as the offices for the French Ministry of Defense.

The rooftop bar, known as “Le Rooftop” is on the 6th floor of the hotel, a perfect vantage point for views across the Paris’s 16th arrondissement.

In one direction is Montmartre and in the other, the Eiffel Tower. Around the corner is the Arc de Triomphe, so you could visit it at the same time and enjoy another gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower from the top of the Arc. (Ticket required.)

Le Rooftop is expensive, requiring a minimum spend of 26€ per person, essentially the cost of a special cocktail. But it is charming and beautiful, and if you are asking me, special cocktail experiences in special places are worth the splurge.

view of the eiffel tower among the rooftops, from the peninsula hotel paris

On my most recent trip in September of 2021, I visited another rooftop bar, this one at the new CitizenM Hotel Champs Elysees . The CloudM bar is located on the 6th floor. Order a Kir Royale (champagne and creme de cassis) and go to the outdoor terrace which  faces the Champs Elysees. Try to time it for the Illuminations light show on the hour. You are a distance from the tower here but it’s still a very pretty Eiffel Tower view, and drinks are more reasonably priced at CloudM than the fancier hotels nearby.

Bateaux Parisiens River Cruise

A view of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine River in Paris at night

I had done a Seine river cruise on a past trip, but a daytime one. I decided to try a dinner cruise with  Bateaux Parisiens hoping to enjoy wonderful evening views of Paris from the river. The pier is very near the tower, but the cruise began by heading away from it. So it wasn’t until the end of the trip that we got to really enjoy a view of the Eiffel Tower. It was well worth the wait; it was spectacular. Even with a little rain on this September evening, the tower appeared shimmering on the banks of the Seine during the last few minutes of the cruise. With its reflection in the water the view was lovely and we were able to enjoy it as we disembarked, as well.

I thought the food, service and views along the river were fantastic. The Seine River Cruise was one of my favourite experiences on my recent trip to Paris. (Full review coming). You can learn more here: Bateaux Parisiens.

Eiffel Tower from Pont Alexandre III Bridge at Sunset

No matter how many times I visit Paris, whether I’m with my husband or solo as I was on my most recent trip, I never tire of seeing the Eiffel Tower. At sunset from one of Paris’s beautiful bridges or watching it sparkle against the night sky, I get that “pinch me, I’m in Paris” feeling each and every time.

Paris: Where to Stay Near the Eiffel Tower

Le Dokhan's hotel in Paris

Le Dokhan's in the Stylish 16th

I loved our stay at Le Dokhan’s a charming Belle Epoque-Style hotel in the 16th arrondissement. The rooms are beautiful and the service was excellent. It has Paris’s cutest elevator made from vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunks and an adorable champagne bar. If you don’t drink champagne, the included continental breakfast is served here as well. And it’s a walk to the Eiffel Tower. (Full review coming soon.)

Affordable Paris - Hotel Muguet with Eiffel Tower Views

Hotel Muguet, an affordable hotel with some rooms with Eiffel Tower views

If you are looking for a budget-friendly option near the Eiffel Tower, I stayed most recently at the Hotel Muguet . It’s a three-star hotel where you can reserve for as little as 130 euros a night in high season – less at other times. If you want to splurge, some rooms offer Eiffel Tower views (these are more expensive). I thought it was great value with comfortable, well-appointed rooms, and a wonderful location.

Use this map to find the exact locations of the spots mentioned here. You can also use these to create your own Paris itinerary.

BEST FREE VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER

Getting the list of the best views of the Eiffel Tower started with the best free views of the Eiffel Tower. You don’t have to spend a thing to enjoy these Eiffel Tower photo spots, making them affordable for anyone visiting Paris. As a bonus, you can capture some amazing Instagram photos in these Paris photo spots.

I would suggest walking around Paris and exploring neighborhoods around the Eiffel Tower. You may be surprised with where it pops up. Spend some time walking around to see if you can find new favorite photo spots while just out exploring on your own.

PARC DU CHAMP-DE-MARS: RELAX IN THE SHADOW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER

The list of the best Eiffel Tower views has to start with the park located at the base of the Eiffel Tower in the 7th Arrondissement. The park sretches from the Eiffel Tower all the way back to the École Militaire. This means there is plenty of room to spread out a blanket and enjoy the view.

The park is open 24 hours a day, so you can visit anytime of the day or night. When the weather is nice, the park fills up with people relaxing and enjoying the view. Bring your own food and drinks to enjoy a picnic with a view for much less than any of the restaurants featuring an Eiffel Tower view.

On our first trip to Paris in the summer, we could not believe how many people were still hanging out in the park at 11 p.m. When we came back down from the observation deck on the Eiffel Tower, the park was still full of people laughing and talking and drinking with friends, family, and loved ones.

Eiffel Tower in fall from Parc du Champ de Mars

You can also explore the paths around the main strip of grass leading to the Eiffel Tower. These areas are often less crowded even in the summer. Plus you can use some of the trees and plants to frame out your shots.

In the winter, it is not as tempting to sit in the cold for hours. However, near Christmas you can enjoy the Christmas market located along the Champ de Mars. You may even get to go ice skating in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

During the spring, this is one of the best spots to see cherry blossoms in Paris. Frame out your Eiffel Tower photos with the pink blossoms for beautiful photos. Limitless Secrets has lots more beautiful spring spots in her guide to visiting Paris in the spring .

While you are at the Parc du Champ de Mars, go ahead and take a trip up the Eiffel Tower. Get your ticket ahead of time to cut down your wait time and guarantee your spot on the lift. While walking under the Eiffel Tower, make sure to look up -that is another one of my favorite views of the Eiffel Tower.

Eiffel Tower at night

TROCADERO: ONE OF THE BEST EIFFEL TOWER PHOTO SPOTS

Also open 24 hours a day is Trocadero, my favorite Eiffel Tower photo spot. It is not quite as close as the Parc du Champ-de-Mars, but the view is even better. If you are visiting Paris for the first time, it is a must.

Enjoy photos from the stairs and from the deck overlooking the gardens for a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. It gets extremely crowded thanks to the popularity of the spot, but it is popular for good reason.

If you want this area to yourself, get there for sunrise. Not only will you miss the crowds, you are treated to an Eiffel Tower sunrise as the sun comes up behind the Eiffel Tower.

Eiffel Tower Trocadero view

This is a popular spot for photo shoots including engagements and wedding photos. However, not many others will be out in the early morning hours. In the winter, with the later sunrise and earlier sunset times, you will want to get there just before sunrise for the best chance of finding it empty.

We have visited Trocadero both when it is crowded and when it is empty. Because there are plenty of spots to get the perfect Paris Instagram shot, you can usually get a photo to yourself any time of the day. There will just be more people on the lower level later in the day and you may need to be patient.

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken was taken at Trocadero. Thanks to the rain when we were there and a clogged drain, we got to enjoy the reflection of the Eiffel Tower in the resulting puddle.

RUE DE L’UNIVERSITE: UP CLOSE VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER

The famous little road that leads between buildings to the Eiffel Tower is Rue de l’Universite. In recent years, it has become more popular as one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.

You can visit this street any time of day, but expect more people to be out and about later in the day. There will likely be others in the area, both locals and tourists thanks to its proximity to the famous Tour Eiffel. There are also usually cars parked along the side of the road.

It is a shorter street and popular for a quick stop for photos. Because people do not stay here long, just give it a minute and others will clear out.

rue de l'universite eiffel tower

PLACE DE MEXICO: POPPING UP BETWEEN BUILDINGS

One of my favorite things about the Eiffel Tower is how it pops up between buildings as you walk around Paris. Place de Mexico is one of those spots.

If you stand near Rue de Longchamp and Rue des Belles Feuilles, the Eiffel Tower stands in your view down the Avenue d’Eylau. Walk down Avenue d’Eylau to get to Trocadero in just a few minutes.

This is also the location of one of the best hotels with a view of the Eiffel Tower, Le Metropolitan . With circular windows overlooking the streets leading to the Eiffel tower, it’s worth a splurge to stay in this luxury hotel. PONT DE L’ALMA: THE PERFECT EIFFEL TOWER SUNSET VIEW

If I’m being honest, most of the bridges near the Eiffel Tower have a great view. If you want one of the best sunset spots to watch the sunset in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in view, go to Pont de l’Alma.

The sun sets over the river with the Eiffel Tower off to your left. It makes for beautiful sunset pictures with the Eiffel Tower.

The nice thing is that it is not crowded at sunset. Even with people and cars using the bridge, few people stop to watch the sunset here.

We got there a little bit early to make sure we would have a spot, but we were the only ones who stayed there to watch the sunset. Others stopped for a quick picture and continued on their way.

PONT DE BIR-HAKEIM: THE POPULAR MOVIE LOCATION

The Pont de Bir-Hakeim gained fame thanks to making an appearance in several movies and lots of Instagram photos. It is also a popular spot to enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower.

The upper level is used by the Metro, but the lower level is for cars, bikes, and pedestrians. Through the steel columns, the Eiffel Tower stands above the city, making it a perfect spot for pictures.

PONT D’LENA: BRIDGE LEADING TO THE EIFFEL TOWER

Pont’ d’Lena is another bridge worth visiting in Paris. Chances are you will visit it even if you did not mean to visit it. This is the bridge leading from Trocadero to the Eiffel Tower. You cross it if you walk to the Eiffel Tower from Trocadero or vice versa.

You’ll find people on the bridge at all times of the day thanks to the great views of the Iron Lady. Visit earlier in the day to avoid the crowds. It’s beautiful any time of day, but I love it in the morning when the sun is rising behind the Eiffel Tower and the crowds are lowest.

Go to the end of the bridge closest to the Eiffel Tower to find the Carousel de la Tour Eiffel. Snap some photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background and the Carousel in the foreground for one of the more unique Eiffel Tower photo spots.

PORT DEBILLY & PASSERELLE DEBILLY: JUST OFF THE BEATEN PATH

Port Debilly is a beautiful walkway along the River Seine with amazing Eiffel Tower views. The area near Pont d’Lena is the most popular spot thanks to the views of the Eiffel Tower. Instagram made it a popular spot to bring a blanket and pose with your girlfriends along the riverbank.

While you are in the area, check out the view from the Passerelle Debilly, a pedestrian bridge crossing the Seine with a great view of the Eiffel Tower. You can take a walk along the Port Debilly to get there and take in the views along the way.

PONT ALEXANDRE III: BEAUTIFUL BRIDGE WITH BEAUTIFUL VIEWS

This might be the prettiest bridge in all of Paris. The Pont Alexander III is a popular spot for photos in Paris thanks to how ornate the bridge is. It also offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower as well as the Grand Palais making it a common spot to visit in Paris.

The bridge itself is beautiful with bronze winged horses standing high up on pedestals representing arts, sciences, commerce, and industry. The views and the beauty of the bridge make it one of the more popular photo spots in Paris, so try to visit earlier in the day to avoid the crowds.

RUE SAINT-DOMINIQUE: SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS WITH AN EIFFEL TOWER VIEW

Similar to Place de Mexico, Rue Saint-Dominique offers surprise views of the Eiffel Tower as it peaks out from behind the buildings. Take time to walk along the street and enjoy the views. You can even stop for a meal or to take a look in one of the many shops.

One of the most popular Eiffel Tower photo spots on this street is just outside of Le Recrutement Cafe. The crosswalk outside of the restaurant gives you a cute Parisian cafe and the Eiffel Tower in the background making it one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris. The food is good too if you are hungry while you are there.

Another popular spot on this street is Au Canon des Invalides. Similar to Le Recrutement, the cafe is a cute Parisian cafe with a crosswalk giving you a great spot to pose with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Just remember that Rue Saint-Dominique is a popular street. Watch out for cars and make sure not to impede the flow of traffic. Try to go early in the morning or when there are less people and cars out for the best chance of the perfect Instagram photo.

AVENUE BOSQUET: PARIS HIDDEN GEM WITH A UNIQUE EIFFEL TOWER VIEW

I have a funny story on how we found this one. We were on a bus going somewhere in Paris, and I was looking out the window. I saw this spot just after a bus stop and told my husband, we are getting off at the next stop. The next stop happened to be good distance away, but we exited at that stop.

I had nothing to help my husband except, “It was a cute street with the Eiffel Tower in the background.” Luckily, we found it walking back up Avenue Bosquet.

This spot is located at the intersection of Avenue Bosquet and Rue Edmond Valentin. I loved the clocktower with the Eiffel Tower behind it and that no one else was there to take pictures. It is one of my favorite views of the Eiffel Tower.

AVENUE DE CAMOENS: POPULAR INSTAGRAM PHOTO SPOT

This former hidden gem in Paris has become more well known over the last few years as an Instagram photography spot. Featuring a balcony-type view of the Eiffel Tower, it’s become a popular spot to sit on the railing with the Eiffel Tower behind you.

To get here, follow the Avenue de Camoens down towards the Monument a Luis de Camoes (save this spot on your map). Most photos are taken from the top of the stairs here. If you come in from the Boulevard Delessert, just climb the stairs.

Get there early though. Not only is it a small area that is becoming more popular, but you can enjoy the early morning golden hour light to add some warmth to your photos.

THE TERRACE AT GALERIES LAFAYETTE: ROOFOP TERRACE WITH A VIEW

Take a trip up to the 8th floor of the Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann to enjoy the views of the Eiffel Tower, Opera Garnier, Sacre Coeur, and Notre Dame. You may also get an amazing sunset view while you are there if you time it just right.

The terrace is open daily from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. During the summer, you can also enjoy food from one of the popup restaurants. Even when the popup restaurants are not there, you’ll still enjoy the views anytime you stop by.

SQUARE RAPP: PARIS HIDDEN GEM WITH AN EIFFEL TOWER VIEW

Square Rapp is a relatively unknown spot to view the Eiffel Tower. Located off of Avenue Rapp, you will find a small garden featuring a fountain and an iron gate. Frame your photo of the Eiffel Tower with the iron gate for a unique Eiffel Tower photo spot.

Thanks to how unknown this spot is, you do not have to worry about getting there early to get the perfect shot. Stop by anytime of the day to find it empty or ignored by passersby.

BEST VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER REQUIRING AN ENTRY FEE

While there are plenty of great free spots to see the Eiffel Tower, there are also some views worth paying for to see the Eiffel Tower from a new vantage point.

ARC DE TRIOMPHE: GREAT EIFFEL TOWER VIEWS OVER THE CITY

The view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe is one of my favorite views in all of Paris. I love how the streets lead to the Arc de Triomphe with the Eiffel Tower standing proud above the city.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the best Paris photo spots on its own, but it is worth the cost of the ticket to go to the top. Tickets for most adults are €13 ($15) with reduced tickets for foreign teachers, young people ages 18 – 25 from non-EU countries and tourism professionals.

Once you get to the top, the side facing the Eiffel Tower is the most crowded. Head to the other sides first and get your photos there. As the crowd thins out on that side, you can return to get the photos you want featuring the Eiffel Tower.

If you visit Paris at New Year’s , the Arc de Triomphe is closed down around the holiday for the light show and fireworks, so check ahead of time to know when it is open.

arc de triomphe eiffel tower view

NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL: EIFFEL TOWER VIEWS WITH GARGOYLES

Due to the fire in Notre Dame, the cathedral itself is closed right now. The reopening date has not been set yet.

However, still make the time to go see the exterior of this beautiful church. Don’t just take time to see the front of the cathedral which is where the crowds are for pictures. Wander around to the back of the cathedral as well. The back is just as beautiful and has very few people most of the time.

When the cathedral reopens and you are allowed to go to the top of the bell towers, climb the 380 steps to the top and find your reward in the views of the city. I love this view because of the way you can frame the Eiffel Tower with the gargoyles.

Get your tickets ahead of time as it often sells out during the summer and holidays. You can get last minute tickets when people do not show up, but you will need to be able to get there fast.

We got tickets that way one time and had 10 minutes to get there to use them once they popped up. Thankfully we are both runners, so we took off running and got there with 38 seconds to spare. If you will be in the area and do not have tickets, keep an eye on the site and be ready to run!

PANTHEON: THE EIFFEL TOWER VIEW FROM THE DOME

If you have time, check out the beautiful interior of the Pantheon. Plus, you can climb to the dome for an incredible view of the city including the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Couer and Notre Dame.

The Pantheon is open every day except January 1 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. It is not handicap accessible to visit the dome, so be prepared to climb 276 steps to the top. They limit the number of people at the top, so it makes it much easier to get your photos without having to wait forever for your turn.

SACRE-COEUR: VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM INSIDE AND OUT

The nice thing about the Sacre-Coeur is that you can get Eiffel Tower views for free. You can also pay to go up in the dome. Because the Sacre-Coeur already sits above the city, you can enjoy a great view of the city with the Eiffel Tower in the distance from the steps.

If you want to go in the Basilica, that is also free. However, there is a cost to climb the 300 steps to the dome. The view from the dome is not all that different from the view on the steps. It does give a different vantage point with views of the streets of Montmartre and most of the famous landmarks of Paris though.

In our three visits to Paris, we have yet to make it up to the Sacre-Coeur, but it is definitely on our list for next time!

MONTPARNASSE TOWER: THE VIEW FROM THE PARIS MONTPARNASSEE OBSERVATORY

Go 210 metres up (689 feet up) for a view from the tallest building in Paris (other than the Eiffel Tower). Located in the 15th arrondissement on the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, tickets start at €16 for adults.

However, they also offer a special ticket you may want to consider. If you want to enjoy the view during the daytime and at night, you can get a Night & Day ticket. This ticket is good for two visits in a 48 hour period and starts at €22.50 ($25.50) for adults.

Their Macnicity app allows you to learn about the city as you enjoy the 360 degree views. Plus, once you are up there, you can take all the time you want to enjoy the views.

Get your ticket ahead of time so you can skip the line. The observation deck is open until 10:30 p.m. most nights and on 11:30 p.m. on select nights.

POMPIDOU CENTRE: ROOFTOP VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER

You can enjoy the museum as well as the rooftop view here. If you want to skip the museum, you can purchase a ticket to go straight to the rooftop. There you can enjoy the views of the city and Eiffel Tower. This makes for a great spot to take in the sunset over the city while also enjoying another beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower.

SEINE RIVER CRUISE: EIFFEL TOWER VIEWS FROM THE WATER

Taking a Seine River cruise is a relaxing way to get a unique view of Paris from the water. Enjoy a dinner cruise to have a meal as you pass by the best Paris landmarks or take a sightseeing cruise to focus on capturing photos and enjoying the views.

There are countless options for Seine River cruises depending on how much time you have and if you want to enjoy a meal or not. They are also a popular option for New Year’s Eve and other holidays.

If you will be visiting Paris for any holidays, book your cruise ahead of time. If you plan to go on weekends or evenings, it’s also a good idea to book early to make sure you get the one you want.

BEST VIEWS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER AT NIGHT

Most of the places listed here offer amazing views of the Eiffel Tower at night and during daylight hours. However, some of them are better than others.

Whether you plan to visit the top of the Eiffel Tower or just enjoy the views of it from the ground, make sure to check out the Eiffel Tower light show. The best time to see the Eiffel Tower is any time of the day or night and anytime of the year, but at night the magic reaches a whole new level.

Every night, starting at sunset and ending at 1 a.m., the light show plays for 5 minutes at the start of every hour. The entire Eiffel Tower sparkles with lights covering the tower. I lost track of how many times I stopped to watch the show because I loved it so much.

Here are the best spots to see the Eiffel Tower at night (all included above as well):

  • Trocadero – you can’t go wrong with Trocadero views anytime of the day or night. It offers unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower for the light show. However, it does get quite crowded in the earlier evening hours.
  • Parc du Champ-de-Mars – with so much room to relax and spread out a blanket, the Parc du Champ-de-Mars is a popular spot to gather and watch the Eiffel Tower light show. People bring a bottle of wine, spread out a blanket, and gather together to enjoy the Eiffel Tower at night all lit up.
  • Pont d’Lena – The streets on either side of the Pont d’Lena including Port Debilly offer additional space to spread out and enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower along the Seine River in the nighttime hours.
  • Any of the bridges – any of the bridges along the Seine River near the Eiffel Tower will offer a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower at night, so find the one closest to where you will be to enjoy the light show.

TIPS FOR VISITING THE BEST EIFFEL TOWER PHOTO SPOTS

In general, try to get to the best Eiffel Tower photo spots earlier in the day. In the summer, you have a little more time to play with thanks to an early sunrise and late sunset. However, in the winter, you have less time before people are up and moving around, so try to get there close to sunrise.

Be patient, and you can get your Instagrammable shot at any of these places. Others usually want a quick photo and to move on to their next spot, so a little bit of patience can go a long way.

I’ve seen the Eiffel Tower countless times (and taken just as many photos) but my jaw still drops every time I see it. I love how the iron lady can pop up when you least expect it: around a corner, between streets or on your metro ride. It offers the prettiest views when walking around Paris.

Despite my obsession with the Eiffel Tower, there are some Eiffel Tower photo spots that stand out from the rest. Continue reading for a full list, including both classic and more secret Eiffel Tower photo spots.

The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement, in southwestern Paris. The Eiffel Tower area has the river Seine on one side, and the big park Champ de Mars on the other side. Many of the Eiffel Tower photography locations included in this blog post are located in the 7th, 8th or 16th arrondissements. These are the areas surrounding the Eiffel Tower, and where you’ll get the best Eiffel Tower views.

I’ll include a map for you to get an overview of the photo spots.

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular photo spots in Paris, which means it can be crowded and challenging to photograph. Here are some tips on how to take good pictures of the Eiffel Tower:

  • Different angles and perspectives: The Eiffel Tower can be photographed from countless angles and perspectives. Try shooting from directly below to capture its intricate metalwork or from afar to get the entire structure in the frame.
  • Time of day: Lighting plays a key role in photography, and the Eiffel Tower is no exception. Sunrise and sunset provide the best natural lighting, creating a beautiful, soft glow on the tower.
  • Avoid the crowds: Speaking of sunrise… The earlier you get to a place, the greater your chance of having it all to yourself. This will probably make the biggest difference to your Eiffel Tower photo. Try 6 am if you have the energy.

Below you’ll find a list of the 10 best Eiffel Tower photo spots, including how to get there. Let’s dive in!

Enjoy the greatest view of the Eiffel Tower from Place du Trocadero. Even though this square is very popular among tourists, it’s still the best place for impressive Eiffel Tower photos.

Due to its popularity it can be hard to photograph the Eiffel Tower without other people disturbing your picture, but it’s not impossible. My best tips for a people-free picture is to go there early, preferably during sunrise. Besides being the least crowded time of the day, you also get to see the sun coming up from the perfect angle.

Place du Trocadero offers many photogenic angles. Here are my favorites:

  • The main square
  • The staircase leading down to Trocadéro Gardens
  • The carousel down by Avenue des Nations Unies ( see it on Google Maps here! )

Closest metro station: Trocadéro (line 6 or 9)

A stunning view from Pont d’Iéna.

2. Pont d’Iéna

Not far from Trocadéro you find Pont d’Iéna, the bridge crossing river Seine that connects the Trocadéro Gardens with the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars park. From Pont d’Iéna you have the Eiffel Tower right in front of you, and can get a soft-looking photo with the Eiffel Tower blurred in the background. For an even more dramatic look you should come here in the evening to see the tower sparkle.

Closest metro station: Trocadéro (line 6 or 9), Iéna (line 9) or Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel (RER C)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

The view from Avenue de Cameons.

Just a short walk from Place du Trocadero lies Avenue de Cameons, a small but very Parisian street with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. This street has become Instagram-famous lately, and I understand why. The silence, the beautiful buildings, the balconies facing the Eiffel Tower and the stairs leading down to Boulevard Delessert.

Due to the Instagram trend, you can not count on being alone here (you can nowhere in Paris). When I was at Avenue de Cameons there were a few other couples taking photos, but it wasn’t crowded. If you want a better chance at being alone, go there early in the morning.

Rue Saint-Dominique offers glimpses of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.

Rue Saint-Dominique is a very long street from where you, at certain parts, have a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. I suggest you go to the corner of Rue Saint-Dominique – Rue Surcouf, where the cute café Au Canon des Invalides is located. From here you have the Eiffel Tower at a perfect angle at the end of the street.

Rue Saint-Dominique is a busy street, with lots of restaurants, shops, traffic and people. Getting a perfectly balanced photo, with not too many cars or other people, can be hard. My best tip is to be patient and wait for the right moment.

Bonus tip: Don’t go here in the evening/during sunset! You risk getting a troublesome backlight that complicates your photo session.

Closest metro station: La Tour-Maubourg (line 8)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

Square Rapp offers a secret view of the Eiffel Tower.

Square Rapp is a small dead-end street in the 7th arrondissement, just off Avenue Rapp. It does not look like much to the world when you pass it, but when you stand in the square and turn around, you get a magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower.

This is kind of a secret spot to view the Eiffel Tower from. It’s quiet and basically tourist-free. That being said, as this is a residential area of Paris, be respectful and don’t disturb the people living there.

Closest metro station: École Militaire (line 8) or Pont de l’Alma (RER C)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

The Eiffel Tower view from Champ de Mars, the big park next to the iron lady.

Champ de Mars is the big garden where the Eiffel Tower is located. From this garden you have an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower – almost as impressive as from Trocadéro or Pont d’Iéna.

Champ de Mars is a popular spot for a picnic, which is also a great photo opportunity. Bring a picnic basket and make a day out of it!

Closest metro station: École Militaire (line 8)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

The view from Bir Hakeim bridge.

7. Bir-Hakeim bridge

Bir-Hakeim bridge crosses the Seine river and connects the 15th and 16th arrondissement. If you cross the bridge by foot, you will encounter some fantastic photo options. The bridge posts create a beautiful frame around the Eiffel Tower. A unique Eiffel Tower photo spot, to say the least!

Closest metro station: Bir Hakeim or Passy (line 6)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

Arc de Triomphe offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding Parisian rooftops.

If you want a great view of the Parisian skyline, with the Eiffel Tower included, you should head up to the top of Arc de Triomphe. You won’t find an elevator here, only stairs – and a lot of them. But it’s worth it! From the top to get an epic view of the Eiffel Tower, among the many characteristic Parisian rooftops.

The tickets to Arc de Triomphe upper deck are free of charge if you are an EU resident under 26 years old, otherwise you’ll have to pay 13 €.

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

Enjoy a sunset drink at Perruche rooftop restaurant.

If you want to combine a great view of the Eiffel Tower with a drink, then I suggest you go to Perruche rooftop restaurant . Perruche is located on the top floor of the Printemps department store in the 9th arrondissement. You can come for dinner or just a pre-dinner drink and enjoy a view of the entire city, including the majestic Eiffel Tower.

Closest metro station: Havre – Caumartin (line 3 and 9)

vue tour eiffel rue de l'universite

Rue de l’Université is a popular spot for photographing the Eiffel Tower.

10. Rue de l’Université

Okay, so I strategically put this photo spot as my last tip. If you’ve researched Eiffel Tower photo spots on Instagram, you probably haven’t missed Rue de l’Université. The street is indeed very cute, and offers an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower. However, due to its popularity on Instagram, this street is now filled with tourists trying to snap that perfect Instagram photo.

Yes, the street has the Parisian charm with the cobblestones and beautiful architecture. But due to its popularity it’s hard to get a photo without other people. If you want to give it a try you should get there early in the morning.

Closest metro station: Pont de l’Alma (RER C)

When does the Eiffel Tower sparkle?

Want to take photos of the Eiffel Tower at night? The Eiffel Tower sparkles every evening after dusk for 5 minutes. It starts at the beginning of each hour. The last sparkle occurs at 11 pm, and the Eiffel Tower lighting is switched off completely at 11.45 pm.

Since the sun sets at different times throughout the year, the Eiffel Tower lights time differs depending on the season. The lights are triggered automatically by nightfall sensors. Make sure to check at what time the sun sets so you know when the first sparkle occurs.

Where to stay near the Eiffel Tower?

Waking up to the view of the Eiffel Tower is something many people dream of. Here are two great accommodation options with Eiffel Tower view.

Hotel recommendations near the Eiffel Tower:

  • Hotel Duquesne Eiffel
  • Jardins Eiffel

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots

There is nothing more iconic than the Paris Eiffel Tower. I just love how the Eiffel Tower can pop up between streets, offering the prettiest views when walking around Paris. I rounded up the top-secret places where to get the best Eiffel Tower Photo. These are the top Eiffel Tower photo spots that you’ll want from your trip.

You can catch these photos and more on my Instagram here !

Where is the Eiffel Tower?

Before I get into the secret locations, I wanted to lay out the land where the Eiffel tower is. The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement in Paris in the southwestern part of the city. While Champ de Mars, the surrounding park area, on a map might look small, in reality, the park grounds are huge.

This is something to keep in mind when walking around because you will be in for a bit of a walk! However, you can see all of these locations in just one day if you take some breaks, and stop for some delicious French pastries.

I have included a map of the Paris photo locations at the bottom of this post for easy reference.

Book Eiffel Tower Activities:

1. Rue St. Dominique

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Rue St. Dominique is a residential street in the 7th arrondissement that offers the most incredible view of the Eiffel tower. The best viewing spot is on Rue St. Dominique and Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg, however, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.

This area is known for its shopping boutiques, cozy restaurants, and cafes, and is a nice local area to stay in while in Paris.

Where to Stay in Paris:

Le Narcisse Blanc: An elegant Parisian hotel located on Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg. In under a minute you can walk to this iconic corner to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Check out my full review of Le Narcisse Blanc here.

2. Rue de l’ Université

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Probably my favorite location to see the Eiffel Tower is Rue de’l Université . This quaint street is ideal because it has such a Parisian charm with the cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. And because this is very close to Champ de Mars, the surrounding park where the Eiffel Tower is located, the tower will appear grand in your photos.

To find this exact location, you’ll come across a dead-end on Rue de Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais. Enter at this point, and you will find the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.

Tip: Cars do park on this street, so there might be some in your photo! When we arrived there were no cars, but seconds after a car pulled up and parked. We were lucky but a little too late.

3. Square Rapp

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower

Square Rapp is a tiny dead-end right off Avenue Rapp that offers a secret view of the Eiffel Tower. Because it is lesser-known, you won’t find many people taking photos here. It is located in a residential part of Paris, so just be respectful to the surrounding area.

Bonus: If you walk further down this dead-end street, you’ll find a quaint little garden. It is private property, but charming to look at.

4. Avenue de Camoens

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

You have probably seen photos of this location before, but Avenue de Camoens is a quiet street just a short walk from Trocadero. What makes this location extra special is it’s located on a dead-end street with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

It’s a popular location amongst other people trying to take photos. Even when I was there, a couple of people were taking photos. But you really can’t beat these views!

To avoid any crowds, just head here in the morning.

How to get to Avenue de Camoens : Because it’s located at a higher level than the street below, be on the lookout for a staircase on Boulevard Delessert.

5. Trocadero

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

This is the least secret place on the list, but it is the ultimate place to get the best photos of the Eiffel Tower. In fact, I would recommend coming here at different times of the day (if you can) to have different types of lighting in your photos.

A gorgeous time to take photos would be during sunrise, as the sun comes up from the perfect angle. And bonus: sunrise is the least crowded time of the day so you won’t have as many people in your shot.

What I love about this location are the many different angles you can take photos from. Some popular angles include:

  • The Main Square
  • The Staircase
  • The Carousel located near the street level on Avenue des Nations Unies

Just a note: this location is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike so it’s an easy target for pickpockets. Just be aware of all your belongings, and wear your backpack or bag in front of your body in this location.

6. Pont d’Iéna

Eiffel Tower at Night

Head down from Trocadero to Pont d’léna, which is a bridge that connects you closer to the Eiffel Tower.  You can get a better view of the Eiffel tower from right underneath it. To make the photo even more dramatic, head to this location around sunset. You’ll be able to see the Eiffel tower sparkle!

7. Seine River

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

Overlooking the Seine just near Trocadero, you’ll find unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower. Check the map below to see the exact street I found at this location. The best part, anywhere along the Seine near Trocadero you can find this view, so you don’t have to come to this exact location.

I particularly love this angle because it’s such a relaxing part of Paris overlooking the water.

8. Bir Hakeim Bridge

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots | 7 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower - Dana Berez

I also have included the Bir Hakeim Bridge in my Top Paris Instagram Posts , but this bridge is a perfect place to capture the views. This bridge crosses over the Seine river and connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements.

Bir Hakeim, formerly known as Pont de Passy, opened in 1905 and still has beautiful timeless architecture. I love how the bridge posts frame the Eiffel Tower in the background! A must-do in Paris for a photo.

Note: This is an active bridge with cars, bikes,   and pedestrians so just look both ways when you are taking photos.

9. Montparnasse Tower

Montparnasse Tower

To get the most epic views of the Eiffel Tower and the entire city of Paris, head to the Montparnasse Tower. This observation deck 200 meters above Paris needs to be on your list of things to do in Paris.

It is open 7 days a week from 10 am until 10:30 pm with tickets starting at 18 Euro per adult. It is best to get your tickets in advance to avoid any crowds!

13 Secret Places to View the Eiffel Tower – Best Photo spots

30. Dezember 2019 by tabithaschr 6 Comments

A trip to Paris isn’t complete without some pictures with the iconic Eiffel Tower . I just love how the Eiffel Tower can pop up between streets , offering the prettiest views. I rounded up 13 secret places to view the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The best Eiffel Tower Photo spots

1 – trocadéro.

I admit, it’s not so secret anymore but it’s the best place to get the Eiffel Tower views. I like finding unique angles of this square, especially since it is kinda difficult to shoot here in winter.

If you want no one in the photos, try heading here during sunrise! Plus, it’s the best place to watch the sun rise over Paris.

2 – Rue de l’Université

This quaint street is ideal for viewing the Eiffel Tower and taking some photos in a very popular instagram spot.

You’ll meet a dead end on Rue de l’Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais where the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.

Tip: This street does offer parking so there may be cars in your photo!

Pro tip : Go there very early! It’s really a well known photo spot and there were more people than right in front of the Eiffel Tower. Crazy how famous these Instagram Spots are!

3 – Just find a quiet street nearby the Eiffel Tower for some great pictures

Yes, it’s actually that easy. Paris has stunning architecture and actually, you just need to find a quiet street with views of the Eiffel Tower to get some good pictures.

Just walk around Paris, and find your very own instagram spot!

4 – Rue St. Dominique

Not only is this street known for its shopping boutiques, but all along you’ll spot the Eiffel Tower peaking through the street. For navigation, search for ‚ Le Recrutement ‚.

5 – Pont Alexandre III

A beautiful bridge itself with some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower and L’Hôtel des Invalides.

Here, you will definitely have the chance to snap some pictures with the Eiffel Tower in the background. I love the golden ornaments that make this bridge a photo spot on its very own!

6 – Pont de l’Alma

You will find Pont de l’Alma nearby Pont Alexandre III. The views are very similar to be honest, but Pont Alexandre III can get very crowded.

If Pont Alexandre III gets too crowded, it’s a good place to take some photos though.

7 – Place de Mexico

I just love how the Eiffel Tower pops up between the beautiful French architecture.

I could never get tired of these typical Parisienne streets.

8 – Champ de Mars

For more quiet views of the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars is perfect! Especially during spring and summer a must in every Paris itinerary.

With quiet I mean: there are definitely less people than on the very, very popular instagram spots. It’s very touristy though and you will find people selling their little Eiffel Towers everywhere.

9 – Anywhere at the Seine River

Actually, it’s very easy to shoot a picture of the iconic Eiffel Tower at the Seine River.

There are various photo spots to get that shot of the Eiffel Tower.

10 – Avenue de New York

Not far away from Pont de Bir-Hakeim, you will find Avenue de New York. Located directly at the Seine river, you will have the chance to capture some stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

11 – Rue Surcouf

A rather unknown place nearby „Le Recrutement“, just walk the street towards the Eiffel Tower and you will find the next photo spot.

12 – Avenue de Camoëns

You’ll most likely find other bloggers taking photos at this exact spot. Avenue de Camoëns is a quiet street just besides Trocadero that offers some of the bests views of the Eiffel Tower surrounded by stunning French architecture!

13 – Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a perfect place to capture the Eiffel Tower. I love how the bridge frames the Eiffel Tower in the background! A must area for Eiffel Tower photo spots.

I hope you liked these secret places to view the Eiffel Tower. If you are interested in some other photo spots, click here for the best photo spots in Paris, France.

Where to shoot the best views of the Eiffel Tower?

Full Width Featured Image With Sidebar

Last Updated:  17 April 2024

If you are planning a trip to France and have a good camera, here are the places where to shoot the best views of the Eiffel Tower . They are listed in random order and this is not a ranking. I have been enjoying taking pictures in Paris for quite some time. Particularly since 2014 when we moved from Sydney, Australia to France. For the past few years, I truly enjoyed discovering incredible spots of the iron lady.

My Top 10 best views of the Eiffel Tower

There are many vantage points from where you can capture nice shots of the Eiffel Tower . There are zillions of great photos of the Eiffel Tower taken from the Trocadéro and the Champ-de-Mars. I did shoot a few photos from there too!

But there are so many beautiful photos from this area that they’ve become very familiar and not so exceptional… With a bit of research and while walking the streets of Paris, I discovered many fascinating ‘off the beaten path places. I’m telling you, I could spend hours shooting the City of Lights. Photographing Paris is definitely one of my favourite passions!

Ok, now let’s go to the 10 places where to shoot the best views of the Eiffel Tower.

Pont Alexandre III and the Eiffel Tower from Cours-la-Reine

One of my favourite spots where you can point the camera at a beautiful Parisian scene: the extravagant Pont Alexandre III with its lamp posts, the spire of the American church and the Eiffel Tower in the background. The best is to hang around at sunset you can shoot some stunning scenes at gold hour… and to stay on the site when the blue hour comes!

Avenue de Camoëns

The cul-de-sac street in the 16th arrondissement provides one of my favourite views of the Eiffel Tower. The monument is framed by grand Haussmannian buildings with their elegant balconies.

The place looks great at blue hour with the Eiffel Tower is all lit up and glitters.

You’ll enjoy popping over the picturesque street of rue Berton to get some fantastic shots of the Eiffel Tower. Situated in the 16th arrondissement, the street later becomes a narrow lane. Find out more about rue Berton .

Place de Mexico

So many tourists wander between the place du Trocadéro and the Champ-de-Mars to admire the Eiffel Tower… but how many of them trek over to the Place de Mexico for pictures that are worth a stop?

The perspective from there runs via the avenue d’Eylau and the Place du Trocadéro.

Avenue du Président Wilson/rue de la Manutention

From the top of the stairs of rue de la Manutention, you’ll reach the lively avenue du Président Wilson. There you’ll be able to grab a couple of interesting shots of the Eiffel Tower. I recommend shooting the rooftops scene in the afternoon with the light coming through the West.

Rue de l’Université

Rue de l’Université is a very long street spanning two arrondissements (6th and 7th). The spot where you get the view of the Eiffel Tower is situated at the corner with avenue de la Bourdonnais. I recommend shooting it at blue hour when the tower is lit up.

The Eiffel Tower from square Rapp

One of the most fascinating ‘off the beaten path’ places where to shot the Eiffel Tower. The secretive square Rapp is surrounded by interesting buildings.

Go there in the morning when the sunlight is still coming from the East or at the blue hour when the tower is lit up.

Rue Saint-Dominique

At the intersection with rue Saint-Dominique and boulevard de la Tour Maubourg (7th arrondissement), the Eiffel Tower dominates a typical Parisian street. Use your zoom for a better effect.

Place de Breteuil

Not many tourists know of this spot in the 7th arrondissement . In fact, you’ll enjoy two perspectives: one leading to the École Militaire and the Eiffel Tower and the other to the Invalids. There is so much magnificent Haussmannian buildings there and I recommend shooting in the morning to get beautiful light on the tower.

Boulevard Pasteur

There is a great view of the Eiffel Tower between the place des cinq martyrs du lycée Buffon and the corner with the boulevard de Vaugirard. The spot makes for some interesting shots.

Other best views of the Eiffel Tower from in and around Paris

10 spots to get the best views of the Eiffel Tower aren’t enough, bien sûr ! Here are a few other places you might not be familiar with…

Eiffel Tower photography tips

best view of eiffel tower

Go at the right time

Plan to go early in the evening for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening for the sunset shoot.

You’ll get magnificent photos while still beating the crowds as most of these places receive very few people at those times.

Plan to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes

Since most of the Eiffel Tower photo spots are not far from each other, the best way is to plan to see them on the same day especially if you just have a few days in Paris.

This means that you’ll walk a lot and the best way not to get worn out easily is by wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Eiffel Tower is one of the famous monuments in Paris

Pack the right essentials for the day

If the idea is to be outside for a number of hours, you’re better off carrying your day’s essentials. Below are a few things you should take with you.

  • Extra batteries and memory card: These memory cards will work well since you’ll be taking lots of pictures.
  • Re-usable Collapsible water bottle: Paris has a number of drinking water fountains so it’s better to take this reusable collapsible water bottle that you can just keep refilling instead of buying bottled water.
  • A Power bank: If you plan to use your phone for some photos, your battery will run so take this portable power bank to stay connected all the time.
  • Phone: Duh! There is no way you can forget it
  • Anti-theft backpack: You’ll need such an anti-theft daypack to keep all your day’s travel items and since pickpockets are common, especially in crowded places, be sure that you can see it at all times. Also, do not randomly place it or any of your travel items on the ground without anyone watching them.
  • You can also check out my complete Packing list for Paris to know exactly what to take.

Now that you know some of the Eiffel Tower photography tips, let’s look at the best Eiffel Tower photo spots not to miss.

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots

Read on to find out the best places for Eiffel Tower photos.

1. Trocadéro square

Trocadero is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

This is probably the most famous spot to go for an Eiffel Tower photo shoot and one of my favorite places actually. And since it is directly opposite the Eiffel Tower and a little bit raised, you’re bound to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since it’s a popular Eiffel Tower Photo Spot, you can expect to find huge crowds and the best way to beat them is by either going early in the morning for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening at sunset.

At that time, the crowds will be fewer and you get to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at the most beautiful times of the day.

best views of the Eiffel Tower

And a big plus about the Trocadéro is that you get to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from various angles and spots with the notable ones being the Staircase , the main Trocadéro square which creates a beautiful reflection if you visit at the right time, the Fountain of Warsaw which creates a magnificent backdrop of the Eiffel tower photos and not forgetting the Beautiful Trocadéro gardens which brings out the beautiful contrasting greenery in the Eiffel tower pic.

With all those features, it’s not hard to see why the Trocadéro is one of the most famous and best Eiffel Tower photo spots as you can get a variety of beautiful pictures of the Eiffel tower from just one spot.

2. Champs De Mars

Champs de Mars is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

Want to get up close Eiffel Tower pictures, then head to Champs de Mars ! It is a beautiful garden right next to the Eiffel Tower.

It might seem a bit small but it’s actually quite big and you can take Eiffel Tower photos from various angles. This spot is particularly more beautiful if you visit during springtime as it offers some of the best cherry blossoms in Paris.

Imagine a photo of the Eiffel Tower with beautiful pink flowers in it – it can’t get any prettier than this! Spring is actually my favorite season to photograph the Eiffel Tower at Champs de Mars.

However, even if you can’t visit Paris in springtime , any time of the year is a great time to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

And if you want to even take it a notch higher and get some of the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower, you can plan a picnic right at the footsteps of the Iron Lady at this gorgeous park.

Rue De L’Université is one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower

If you’re standing in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Champs de Mars behind you, just head left and you’ll find this popular Eiffel Tower photo spot, Rue de l’Université .

It’s one of the popular Instagram spots in Paris so you can be sure to find people here, and if it’s not that, you’ll find cars parked so you’ll just have to find a way to take pics of the Eiffel Tower at the right moment to miss the cars or the people.

What makes this street popular and beautiful is that you get incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, together with a cobblestoned street and the typical Parisian architecture in one photo.

Rue De L’Université is one of the best instagram spots in Paris

In my opinion, it’s the perfect place to get the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower. However, be sure to go to the exact spot as this street is quite big (the 10th longest in Paris to be exact), so if you’re not keen enough, you might end up in the wrong spot.

So to make sure that you go to the Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot, I’ve included an interactive map in this post; you just need to click on it and you’ll know where exactly to go.

With the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the love locks, and the bridge in one frame, you’re guaranteed to have a spectacular Eiffel Tower pic.

5. Square Rapp

Square Rapp is one of the best places to take pictures in Paris

If you love taking street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then you’ll love Square Rapp . It is a hidden gem off Avenue Rapp in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

The square overlooks the Eiffel Tower and various Haussmannian architecture-style buildings creating a beautiful Parisian charm and a one-of-a-kind Eiffel Tower photo op.

And, unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, Square Rapp is still unknown to many or others just ignore it, which means that you can take countless photos and take in this Eiffel Tower street view without the crowds.

Square Rapp is one of the best Eiffel Tower Photo spots

And while in this spot, don’t just stop at taking pics of the Eiffel Tower, take some time to walk down the entire Avenue Rapp and you’ll be treated to secret but beautiful places in Paris you didn’t think existed right in the heart of the capital; like the Lavirotte Building and its controversial doorway known as the “door of Avenue Rapp” and other Haussmann buildings.

This to me is the best street for Eiffel Tower photos!

6. Montparnasse Tower

Montparnasse Tower is one of the places to take Eiffel tower pics

Sometimes capturing the Eiffel Tower means going to one of the tallest buildings in Paris and Montparnasse Tower is the perfect spot.

With it being directly opposite the Eiffel Tower, you get unobstructed views which means that the Eiffel Tower pics will come out perfectly well with the iron lady protruding through Paris’ rooftops.

You can go to Montparnasse Tower at any time but in my opinion, the best time to go is at sunset to be able to capture the iron lady with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.

Montparnasse Tower is one of the places to take Eiffel tower pics

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, you’ll need to pay to access the Montparnasse Tower rooftop but the stunning Eiffel Tower views you get are worth the price.

And to make sure that you skip the Paris long lines at Montparnasse Tower, grab yourself this skip-the-line entry ticket .

7. Rue St. Dominique

Famous for being one of the best shopping streets in Paris , Rue St. Dominique in the 7th arrondissement also never disappoints when it comes to being a perfect Eiffel Tower photo shoot spot.

With the view of the Eiffel Tower “embroidered” right in the middle of the street with various cafes and partisan buildings beside it, you can be sure you’ll get the perfect Eiffel Tower street photo.

And when you finish capturing that perfect Eiffel Tower photo, don’t be in a rush to leave yet as there are lots of things to do on this charming street.

From indulging yourself with famous Parisian pastries from the many bakeries, eating your heart out at the cute cafes in the area, or shopping until you drop from the many stores.

Regardless of what fills your heart, you’ll find something to do while on your Eiffel Tower photography journey in the area.

8. Seine River

Eiffel tower photo from Pont Alexandre III

From all the Eiffel Tower photo spots mentioned here, I think the Seine River is the best. I know I keep saying that at almost every spot but there is something about the Seine that brings out the magic and beauty of the Eiffel Tower.

Actually, there is not one specific spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine but rather a variety. So all you have to do is look for a place along the Seine but also near the Trocadero and you’ll be able to capture the Iron Lady clearly.

Other spots at the Seine you can go to photograph the Eiffel Tower include; Pont Alexandre III , Pont Neuf , or even on a Seine River cruise.

The big plus about taking the river cruise is that you’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower from different angles hence taking various photos.

You can take pics of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine at any time but I recommend going at night as you’ll be able to capture the Eiffel Tower with the reflection of the shimmering lights on the water which creates such a magical sight and photo op.

Pro tip* If you choose to go for a Seine cruise, I recommend taking this one if you prefer a day-time cruise but if you prefer photographing the Eiffel Tower as it shimmers at the top of the hour, I recommend taking this Seine river dinner cruise for an absolutely great time.

9. Pont de Bir Hakeim

Pont de Bir Hakeim is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

Another bridge in Paris where you can take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Pont de Bir Hakeim . The bridge crosses the Seine connecting the 15th and 16th arrondissements .

Its prime location opposite the tower and its design with the steel columns next to it and lanterns in between make for a perfect photo spot of the Eiffel Tower.

Pont Bir-Hakeim is one of the places to add to your 3 days in Paris itinerary.

While it’s not an incredibly busy bridge like some others, it’s an actual operational bridge with cars and pedestrians.

So while taking that perfectly framed Eiffel Tower pic, be on the lookout not to cause an accident! Being one of the best Eiffel Tower photoshoot ideas, it’s not uncommon to find wedding shoots going on here.

10. Pont d’Iéna

Pont De'lena is one the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower

Probably the most famous spot to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at night or even at sunset. With just a few steps from the Trocadéro, Pont De’lena is the easiest way to connect to the Eiffel Tower from both sides of the Seine – the left and right banks.

At this spot, you’ll literally look like you’re taking photos from under the Eiffel Tower which is quite a unique shot compared to ones taken from other places — something that makes Pont De’lena a really special Eiffel Tower photo spot.

11. Avenue de Camoens

Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

If you’re looking for hidden or less crowded Eiffel Tower photo spots, then look no further than Avenue de Camoens in the 16th Arrondissement.

Since it is located at the top of a staircase, not so many people know about it which means that you’ll be able to take countless photos of the Eiffel Tower without feeling like you’re “hogging” the place.

Avenue de Camoëns is one of the prettiest streets in Paris

With the staircase and beautiful Parisian buildings in the background, this place makes for a perfect Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot.

12. Rue de Monttessuy

If you’re like me who can’t get enough of street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then add Rue de Monttessuy in the 7th arrondissement to your Parisian bucket list .

Unlike other places that give that old Parisian charm, this spot has some newer buildings so it will be nice to have a little bit of contrast between the Eiffel Tower and the newer angle of Paris.

13. Galeries Lafayette Rooftop

Stunning view from Galeries Lafayette terrace

Another place to take a stunning photo of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is the Galeries Lafayette Rooftop . This Parisian department store may be famous for shopping since it houses luxurious brands but its terrace offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots on this list, from here, you can see other popular attractions like the Paris Opera and not forgetting the stunning Paris roofs.

14. Arc de Triomphe observation deck is one of the Eiffel Tower Best Photo Spots

View of Paris from Arc de Triomphe

One of my all-time favorite spots to take photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Observation deck of the Arc de Triomphe !

What makes this spot perfect is that it’s not too high so you get to see everything clearly instead of seeing small items below. Besides the view of the Eiffel Tower, you also get to see how 12 roads diverge from the Arc.

Stunning and beautiful, this is one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since you need to climb the Arc, you’ll need to buy this skip-the-line ticket to avoid wasting time in queues.

15. From The Top Of Sacré Coeur

View from the dome of the Sacre Coeur

Being on the highest place in Paris, Sacré Coeur offers an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower without any obstructions.

From here, you get a stunning view of the entire city too! I recommend going there at sunset to see the entire city covered in beautiful yellow-orange-hued colors.

You should note that you’ll need to climb the 300 steps here as there is no elevator and you’ll pay a small fee to climb to the dome even though visiting the church itself is free.

16. From Pont Alexandre III

Eiffel tower photo from Pont Alexandre III

Pont Alexandre III is my favorite bridge in Paris! Besides being beautifully made with golden statues and street lamps, it’s one of the places to take the best photos of Eiffel Tower.

With the beautiful bridge, the Seine, and the Iron Lady in one frame, this is truly one of the best Eiffel Tower picture ideas.

17. From Various Paris Hotels

Shangri-La Paris is one of the Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

While this may not be for everyone since hotels with Eiffel Tower views come with a huge price tag but if budget is not a problem, you may consider staying at one of those hotels.

Some of the hotels to stay at to be able to take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower include; Shangri-La Paris hotel in the 16th Arrondissement, Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre in the 15th, Hotel Le Meurice in the 1st Arrondissement, and many others.

18. From Pont Neuf

Watching a sunset is one of the best things to do in Paris on a honeymoon.

Pont Neuf is not only one of the beautiful bridges of Paris but also the best spot to take Eiffel Tower pictures.

While you can go any time, I recommend going at sunset to enjoy a colorful and beautiful sunset with the Eiffel Tower and another bridge in the background!

19. From île aux Cygnes

Eiffel tower view from Île aux Cygnes

Many people may not know this but Paris has 3 islands! The 2 natural ones, île Saint-Louis and île de la Cité , and the artificial one called île aux Cygnes in the 15th arrondissement which we’re talking about now.

île aux Cygnes is famous for having the most famous and biggest replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris but besides this, it’s also one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots.

Unlike other places we’ve looked at before, this one is a little bit less known for those looking for Paris hidden gems .

20. From Rue Le Tasse

Still looking for where to take the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower? Then head to Rue Le Tasse .

While most people flock to Rue de l’Université making it packed almost all the time, one street that equally gives the same Eiffel Tower photo opportunities is Rue Le Tasse in the 16th arrondissement.

So if you’re looking for Eiffel Tower photo ideas where you won’t “fight” for a spot with other Instagrammers, check this one out.

Best Views of the Eiffel Tower: 6 Top Spots for Photos

View of the Eiffel Tower over Paris

Easily Paris’ most iconic monument, the Eiffel Tower is the first stop for many travelers coming to the City of Light. While taking in the views from the tower itself is a must, you’ll definitely want to capture some photos of the city with the Iron Lady in it — and you can’t do that from inside the tower.

The Eiffel Tower can be spotted from nearly every corner of Paris, and the city’s stunning architecture, winding streets, and lush gardens seem to frame it perfectly. Since I’ve been living in Paris for several years now, I wanted to share a local’s guide to the absolute best views of the Eiffel Tower. These are great spots to visit any time of year. If you can, I recommend doing all of them!

Read on to discover the top six spots for capturing beautiful and unique photos of the Eiffel Tower.

The classic Eiffel Tower view: Rue de l’Université

View this post on Instagram Shared post on Time

The csuhaj ildikó életrajz is kicking off its first week with Ultimate Steakhouse Dinner Meal featuring prime grade steaks, premium appetizers and sides as.

One of the longest streets in Paris, Rue de l’Université runs through the city’s picturesque 6th and 7th arrondissements and ends up right on the edge of the Champs de Mars.

The intersection of Avenue de la Bourdonnais and Rue de l’Université offers an up-close and personal view of the Eiffel Tower, framed by classic Parisian buildings. This spot makes for especially stunning photos at dusk, when the last rays of sunlight cast golden reflections on the buildings around.

But you should also know that the Eiffel Tower sparkles for five minutes on the hour, every hour, from dusk until one in the morning. This light show is definitely worth waiting for and timing your night photos around.

Local tip: Head across the street to get a wide-angle view of the tower. From there, you can also create some interesting compositions with the majestic trees lining the avenue.

Most romantic view of the Eiffel Tower: Avenue de Camoëns

One of the best views of the Eiffel Tower from Avenue de Camoens in Paris

Contrary to the image conjured by its name, the Avenue de Camoëns is actually a quiet cul-de-sac tucked away in the glitzy 16th arrondissement.

Flanked by ornate Haussmanian buildings on either side, the cul-de-sac ends atop an impressive grand staircase which overlooks the river and the Eiffel Tower. Classic lamp posts line the cobblestone street and stairway, giving the area a timeless feel — perfect for capturing some unique and romantic photos with the Eiffel Tower.

Local tip: The light here is best either early in the morning just after sunrise or just after dusk when the sun has mostly set. The streetlamps’ soft, golden glow on the stairs creates an especially magical setting at dusk.

The tower from a famous bridge: Pont de Bir-Hakeim

where to take a photo of the Eiffel Tower at Pont Bir Hakeim

Up next on my list of the best Eiffel Tower views is the one from the Pont de Bir-Hakeim.

This bridge has been featured in many films, so you can probably recognize it from its famous scene in “Inception.” This iconic steel arch bridge traverses the river Seine, connecting the city’s right and left banks, and boasts some incredible Eiffel Tower views.

One of the most beautiful details here are the antique lamps all along the bridge that frame the Eiffel Tower in the background — they can really add some extra magic to your night shots.

How to get there: The metro line 6 also crosses this bridge between the Bir-Hakeim and Passy stations. You’ll be able to catch an unobstructed view of the Iron Lady from the metro window, which makes a cool setting for photos and videos.

A bird’s-eye view of the Eiffel Tower: Galeries Lafayette Haussmann

Lookout from the roof of the Galeries Lafayette mall in Paris with Eiffel Tower in distance

If you want a true bird’s eye view of the Eiffel Tower, look no further than the Galeries Lafayette rooftop.

Situated on the bustling Boulevard Haussmann in the middle of Paris, this luxury department store is a popular shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. But the true gem of this place is the rooftop terrace.

Free to access, the rooftop showcases a 180-degree view of Paris from above. You can also spot most of the city’s major monuments, with a great vista on the Opéra Garnier and the Eiffel Tower.

When to go: Plan your visit for sunset, or during the golden hour to have the best light. The terrace faces Southwest, so the sunsets from here are spectacular.

The Eiffel Tower from every angle: Seine river cruise

Seine river cruise

Even after calling Paris home for almost eight years, taking a river cruise is still one of my favorite ways to enjoy the city.

There’s nothing quite like floating carefree down the river Seine and watching Paris pass by in front of you. You’ll get to see the city from a new perspective, and I’m sure you’ll spot some details you’d never noticed before. Plus, the river cruises pass just in front of the Eiffel Tower, so there’s no shortage of excellent photo opportunities.

Pro tip: Add a river cruise on to your Eiffel Tower tour, whether it’s a guided climb or an elevator tour , so you can make sure to cross both of these must-do Paris activities off your list. As an upgrade with our tour, your river cruise ticket is good for up to a year after your tour.

Locals-only secret view of the Eiffel Tower: Ile aux Cygnes

Last but certainly not least, one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower can be found on the Ile aux Cygnes. This tree-lined artificial island in the Seine is actually home to Paris’ Statue of Liberty, though the island itself remains unknown to most visitors (and many Parisians for that matter).

But the island’s location between the 15th and 16th arrondissements means that it boasts one of the most gorgeous and unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower in all of Paris, as the video above shows. You can access the Ile aux Cygnes via three different bridges, and thanks to the thick canopy of trees overhead, the island is an idyllic escape in almost any weather.

Seeing the Eiffel Tower inside and out

Eiffel Tower with Parisians on the river bank

The great thing about the Eiffel Tower being the tallest building in Paris is that you can catch a glimpse of it from almost anywhere in the city.

But the tower looks completely different in every photo because it all depends on the angle and who captured it. If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that there are always unique, new views to find in the City of Light.

Now that you know where to find the best views of the Eiffel Tower, want to find out what all you can see from inside the tower? Check out our article on everything you can see from the Eiffel Tower to get some photo ideas for your next trip to this incredible monument.

Best Places to Take Pictures of the Eiffel Tower

Pont de bir hakeim bridge.

Girl standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

The Pont de Bir Hakeim Bridge offers a breathtaking setting to capture stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower. It is typically a little less crowded, especially in the evening, and not as well known as a photo opportunity in Paris.

Here, you’ll have the Eiffel Tower gracing the background, complemented by the flowing river, creating a truly picturesque scene. It provides quite a classical Paris look that captivates and captures its industrial beauty.

After living in Germany – only a 2-hour train ride from Paris, it has been one of my beloved and treasured spots to visit that should be on any new traveler’s bucket list to Paris .

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or simply a tourist looking for an unforgettable experience, this bridge offers a distinct perspective on the Eiffel Tower, leaving a lasting impression and memories to cherish.

Avenue Rapp

Girl standing in front of a fence in the middle of Paris.

Avenue Rapp is one of the best places to take a photo of the Eiffel Tower in Paris that is located within the seventh arrondissement,

In particular, Square Rapp is particularly special and can be found between 33 and 35 Avenue Rapp.

This is a great spot to take a photo with the Eiffel Tower since this stunning square features a well-maintained garden, exquisite iron gates, and a delightful fountain.

Plus, as you stand in the square, you can capture a lovely photo of the gardens in the foreground with the city’s Haussman-style architecture and the Eiffel Tower behind it.

However, this is a quiet neighborhood, so please limit the noise you make when you visit. You will also want to arrive early in the morning to avoid people walking into your shot.  Additionally, you’ll want to stop at the nearby Lavirotte Building to enjoy the gorgeous Art Nouveau architecture Paris is known for during your 5 days in Paris .

Avenue de New York

Boats floating on the water in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Avenue de New York is just a few minutes walk from the base of the Eiffel Tower. It’s a perfect place to take some classic shots of the most famous landmark in Paris. Avenue de New York is opposite the Eiffel Tower on the right bank of the Seine, the ideal location for you to take beautiful photos of the river with the tower in the background.

For the best images, head towards the point where Avenue de New York meets Pont d’Iéna. Finding a spot to pause for an uninterrupted view of the Eiffel Tower is very easy there.

This location will bring you close enough to get great photos without being so close that the tower is distorted in your image. Visit in the afternoon when the sun will be behind you for the best lighting.

Avenue de Cameons

Two photos of a girl smiling in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Avenue de Cameons has to make the list as one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower while in Paris! It’s a great quick photo stop since the viewpoint is so close to other tourist stops like the Trocadero and Pont d’iena bridge. A small side street next to the Trocadero, there are beautiful Parisian-style buildings surrounding this photo stop.

The look of the buildings around you with the Eiffel Tower tucked away in the background makes for one of the best classic and romantic Parisian photos. And while it is a popular photo spot, it usually doesn’t get as crowded as some of the other hot spots around the city with Eiffel Tower views.

Plus, there’s a fantastic ledge that makes for one of the most picturesque places to hop up on to strike a pose. Go in the late afternoon near golden hour to get great lighting of the Eiffel Tower from this spot.

Champ de Mars

People walking around a green space in the fall.

The Champ de Mars is one of the best and most classic places to view the Eiffel Tower. The Champ de Mars is the long greenspace right in front of the Eiffel Tower and is one of the best parks in Paris to relax and spend time in.

There are multiple sections of grass that you can lounge out on and enjoy a leisurely lunch, wide walking paths lined with trees, lots of park benches, and amenities like bathrooms, drinking fountains, and crepe stands.

You can get a good picture any time of day in the Champ de Mars – the large space means that it usually doesn’t get crazy crowded, although of course, earlier in the day means there will be fewer people. Get a unique shot of you enjoying a picnic on the grass with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Sunset Seine River Cruise

Eiffel Tower under a pink sky.

Capture stunning shots of the Eiffel Tower on a sunset Seine river cruise right in the heart of the city! The boat passes right by the Parisian structure, offering unparalleled photo ops.

Picture this: The sun begins to set, painting the sky with hues of gold and pink. As the darkness creeps, watch as the tower begins to sparkle, you won’t want to put your camera down!

Tip, bring a tripod and capture a timelapse of the sun going down.

As you cruise along the river, you also get to take in all the other amazing sights, like the gorgeous bridges and beautiful historic landmarks, including the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Conciergerie.

And guess what? You have the freedom to customize your experience. Pack your favorite snacks and a bottle of vino for a relaxed and casual vibe. Or, for a touch of luxury, go all out on a dinner cruise.

Rue de l’Université

People standing on a cobblestone street with the Eiffel Tower behind.

If you’re looking for the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower, look no further than Rue de l’Université.

Rue de l’Université, a major street in Paris, turns into a dead-end street just as you arrive at the Champs de Mars, the park that surrounds the Eiffel Tower. As a result, you find yourself in the perfect location to grab a stunning photo with the tower in the background.

With its cobblestone street, stunning architecture, and the tower directly behind you, this location provides an impressive and unique perspective of the Eiffel Tower.

Due to its popularity, this spot can get quite busy. Arriving early in the morning will certainly help to avoid some of the crowds.

For those looking for an impressive backdrop of the Eiffel Tower in their picture, Rue de l’Université is a must-visit spot that will result in a truly impressive view of this famous landmark.

Pont Alexandre III

Girl smiling in a hat on a bridge with the Eiffel Tower behind.

Pont Alexandre III is my favourite bridge in all of Paris. It’s the most decadent, extravagant bridge, with flying golden angels, art nouveau lamp posts, ornate cherubs, nymphs, and even winged horses!

And, of course, it has a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the River Seine. This bridge is perfect for taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower at sunset, and you’ll find plenty of spots to take pictures from, even if there are loads of tourists.

The pavement is very wide, so there’s plenty of room for everyone. It’s also great if you have a zoom lens, but you might have to be a little more patient with this one as the photographer will need to stand farther back; best to do that one in the morning.

Just lean against the railing (the best view is on the north side near Monument à Lafayette) with your photographer, and people will be able to walk around you. And voila! There you have it—the picture-perfect view of the Eiffel Tower.

Pont des Invalides

Pirate ship floating on the water.

A great underrated Eiffel Tower photo spot is the Pont des Invalides. If you’re tired of the major tourist flocks at Rue de l’Universite and Trocadero, the Pont des Invalides is a great low-key alternative.

The Pont des Invalides is located near the Hotel des Invalides: an iconic military complex and museum. The bridge spans the Seine River connecting the 7th and 8th arrondissement.

It’s a great spot because it’s less touristy, and you’ll be able to capture the Gothic tower of the American Church in Paris in your shot which is totally unique!  This church was the first American church established outside the U.S. Pretty awesome stuff.

First, start off with a picnic at l’Esplanade des Invalides. It’s a huge grass field that Parisians love socializing at when the weather warms up. Grab a baguette, humus, and vegan snacks, and enjoy the scenery and gorgeous architecture surrounding you.

There are great vegan food option supermarkets and a fresh food market at Motte-Picquet and Rue Cler respectively.

After enjoying your picnic, it’s time to immortalize your perfect day! Head to the Pont des Invalides for that well-deserved shot of the Eiffel Tower you’ve earned.

Tour Montparnasse

View of the Eiffel Tower and city of Paris from above.

Tour Montparnasse (Montparnasse Tower) has the reputation of being the ugliest building in Paris. It sticks out like a sore thumb and you can spot it from pretty much anywhere in the city. In its defense, however, it should be pointed out that its panoramic terrace offers one of the best views of the  Eiffel Tower  in town, and the best part of it is that Montparnasse Tower itself won’t be in the photo!

The tower is located on 33 Av. du Main, in the 15th arrondissement. The closest metro station is Montparnasse-Bienvenue station. It is open daily, though opening hours vary depending on the season.

You can access two levels (there is a fee to pay for that): floor 56th, which has a bar and is all closed with glass windows, and the terrace above, which is also mostly closed with the occasional opening through which you can catch the views and take photos. There even are telescopes.

Plan to be there about one hour before sunset for the best experience.

Musée d’Orsay

View of the top of buildings in Paris.

The Musée d’Orsay is one of the city’s  coolest and most popular museums , thanks to its large collection of works by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. However, that’s not its only highlight: the art museum is also a unique place from which to view the Eiffel Tower.

Both the museum and tour are located on the Left Bank of the Seine River. Most visitors are focused on the artworks on the walls, and surprisingly few take a look out the windows at the stunning city views. From the upper floor of the museum, looking west, the tower stands tall above the rooftops of nearby apartment buildings.

The museum is open from 9am to 6pm most days (closed Mondays). For those hoping for a sunset view, the hours are extended to 9.45pm on Thursdays.

Pompidou Centre

View of the Paris city skyline under a blue sky.

The Pompidou Centre is known for its remarkable architecture – but it is also a great place from which to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

Even if you’re only spending  two days in Paris , it’s worth checking out this contemporary landmark and enjoying the view from the top.

The building is famous for its ‘inside-out’ construction, where the functional workings of the building, including ducts and pipes, are exposed on the exterior of the structure. The building houses an art gallery and there’s a lovely restaurant on the top floor, with a good view of the gothic Tour Saint-Jacques.

However, from the terrace on the west side of the building, there is a great view of the Eiffel Tower, standing tall above the rooftops of Paris. A good time to photograph here is in the middle of the day, to capture the classic blue-grey tones of the rooftops.

The Pompidou Centre is in the 4 th  arrondissement and access to the terrace is free.

Pont d’Iéna Bridge

Eiffel Tower with the water in front.

One of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower is hidden in plain sight. To the left of the Pont d’Iéna bridge (Jena Bridge) you’ll find steps down to the banks of the River Seine that most tourists walk right by. This overlooked spot is the perfect place to capture the Eiffel Tower in its full grandeur, without hundreds of tourists in the shot.

When you’re walking from the bustling Trocadero, you cross the traffic lights at Voie Georges Pompidou, to the left of the bridge, the wall has a small gateway to Port Debilly with steps leading down to the riverbank.

Whether you’re capturing the beautiful morning light or there in the middle of the day, it’s an excellent vantage point to set up your camera (or take that quick selfie!) away from the throngs of people. It’s one of the best places in Paris to take pictures of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Arc de Triomphe

Eiffel Tower lit up at night.

For one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots, head to another of Paris’ most famous landmarks – the Arc de Triomphe!

The Arc de Triomphe is located on the western end of Champs-Élysées. Many visitors will only visit the Arc for a quick photo stop, but climbing to the top is one of the best things to do in Paris – especially since you get such a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

Tickets are required to visit the Arc de Triomphe rooftop. They aren’t timed, so you can visit at whatever time works best for you. I recommend timing your visit at dusk so that you can see the first Eiffel Tower sparkle of the evening.

After climbing the 284 steps to the top, you’ll emerge to one of the best views in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is located directly south of the Arc de Triomphe. The elevated view of the Eiffel Tower from the rooftop is a great vantage point for photos as you can see how the Eiffel Tower towers over the city streets below.

Galeries Lafayette

View of Paris buildings from above.

Paris’ most iconic shopping center, Galeries Lafayette, has a rooftop with a prime view of the Eiffel Tower. While it is a small chain department shop, Paris’ Galleries Lafayette on the 9th arrondissement is the flagship store.

The Terrace is the rooftop that showcases the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and Paris’ other skyscrapers. It is located on the 8th floor, and the best time to visit is during the sunset. If you want to avoid the crowds, come at 10 am when Galeries Lafayette opens. Taking photos of the Eiffel Tower from the Terrace is a photographer’s dream.

Enjoy a romantic dinner with your love while fawning over the view. During the holiday season, you can go ice skating on the Terrace since the rink opens up specifically for the season.

Along with shopping at Galeries Lafayette, make sure to take a snapshot at the Terrace for an extra souvenir!

View of Paris Eiffel Tower under a blue sky.

One of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower is Trocadero.  Trocadero is home to the Palais de Chaillot which is a building on top of Chaillot Hill.  It’s the large balcony (so to speak) on the Palais de Chaillot that offers a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower.

As you can imagine, a place with a spectacular view of the architectural icon of  Paris can get crowded.  Your best bet to getting photos here with few to no people in them is by getting there in the early morning.

6 am-7 am is best if you’re able to be up that early!  Though it’s crowded in the evening, Trocadero is a great place to enjoy the Eiffel Tower sparkling at the top of each hour.

Trocadero is located off of the “Trocadero” metro stop on lines 9 and 6.  The view of the Eiffel Tower is easily walkable from the metro exit.

Enjoy the fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower from Trocadero!

Terrass’’ Hotel 12-14, rue Joseph-de-Maistre – 18e
