So I read the reviews before I bought my 2009 Dodge Journey in May of 2012. I have had this car now for 2 1/2 years and it seems there is always an issue. Multiple batteries, changing the brakes nearly every 10,000 miles, tires are awful, I have had to replace some type of wheel sensor, the key fob doesn't always works so sometimes my car won't crank right away. Electrical problems where the alarm goes off and takes a while to make it stop. This car has been a nightmare.. not to mention, the value. I still owe 15k and it's not even worth 9k. It loses so much value every year.. and for good reason. If you buy this vehicle after reading this review.. don't say you weren't warned!

Bought this car brand new in 2009. I have had the transmission replaced once, I am on my third set of brakes and fourth set of tires. I just ate the cost to replace the motor mount, and now I am having problems with the starter. Needless to say, I will never ever ever ever by a Chrysler-brand vehicle again. I can understand having a finnicky vehicle, but this is too much. Almost $6,500 in repairs and maintenance in 5 years...mostly repairs. I'll never buy Dodge again.

NEVER EVER BUY!

We have had our car for less then 2 years... We bought it in 2010 with less then 20,000 miles on it. In that time we have had to replace our brakes, Have our entire transmission rebuilt, our starter replaced, and now it wont start and the dealership does not know why. I am a stay at home mom and do not drive much at all, some days i do not even leave the house and this car is so un-reliable i can not even believe it! Its a 50/50 chance if the car will start or not, and if it does THEN i get my child ready and into the car, No point in getting him ready if we cant go anywhere. Cant wait to get rid of this car, Lemon, lemon, lemon!

Great vehicle if you don't drive. Buyer Beware

This car has a multitude of problems. Had to replace brakes after 20000 miles. Transmission clunks when backing up from day one.Dealer cannot fix or find the problem. All of the CD's flew out one day hitting my wife in the head. Cannot use CD player. Heater has not worked for 2 years. I have had many things done to heater , but only works for a short time. It is now in the garage for a new heater core. Cost is $1100.00 . Battery is under front wheel and is a pain to replace. dealer wants $120.00 to for labor to replace battery.Wal Mart will replace for no labor costs. Valve stems are brittle and break off easily. Sold vehicle in May 2017 for $3000.00 Blue book was $4500 but could not get that price for it. Had it listed with various car mags for 2 months. Vehicle appearance was excellent. No rust or dents. Paint was in great shape. Interior was spotless. Replaced front wheel bearings before selling.

2009 Dodge journey

I have a 2009 journey with the v6 2wd It would help if others indicate the drive trains on their cars. Front brakes were a problem after 29000 miles. They were making a grinding noise... and the brake peddle was pulsing and wheels were wobbling. brought it to the dealer they told me all was ok. After I left it Was still making the noise - I checked the brakes myself and discovered the pads were cracked. i brought it back. They fixed the car. Demand the dealer inspect the brake pads (if they say they see no problem) Door Wire harnes is a serious problem they have issued a recall for this. Lastly has anyone have a calipar pin fall out from the rear brakes? mine did

So, missing complaints #2 and #3, this is the 4th transmission failure. The last transmission was replaced at around 68k miles, and I made it another 70k with this one. However, now, Dodge will not honor my "lifetime" engine and powertrain warranty, because I "failed to take it for a 5 year transmission inspection". This present transmission hasn't been in the vehicle for 5 years! I was informed that it "wasn't how it works" that I was supposed to go to the dealership at the 10 year anniversary of my vehicle purchase for that "inspection". They never informed me of this, nor were they willing to work with me on it. I am stuck now with a vehicle that will not move. So, I am going to be "getting out of Dodge" so to speak. NEVER will I EVER buy another Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler/MOPAR product.

• 75,000 miles

Transmission was slamming into 2nd gear. Took into dealer. Needs replacement. They put in a rebuilt one. It was bad before I got the vehicle back. Got another rebuild, it seems ok but there is fluid all over the transmission case.

As soon as the manufacturer warranty expired (36k miles) the transmission went completely out on me while at the pharmacy. Had to have the vehicle taken over 6 miles to the dealer to repair. Awful experience for a fairly new car, very disappointed.

Journey SXT 3.5L V6

• 80,000 miles

Just bought this vehicle in June 2015. Financing it over 72 months. Less than 90 days later, I have total complete loss of transmission. Ran fine one minute, then heard a low squeal. Within 2-3 mins lost most of power on a major road, car started banging, vibrating terribly. Mechanic diagnosed as transmission is completely cracked. This is not normal wear for a vehicle with only 80,000 miles and thousands of people are complaining of same thing. Made like crap. Dodge won't recall or buyback. Everyone report it to department of highway safety!!!

Brought the car to the dealer (Artioli Dodge in Enfield CT) before the failure and was told that it was OK to drive, and they would order parts to repair the issue. While exiting my wife's OB-GYN appointment, pregnant with child #2 with child #1 (18 months old) in car seat, the transmission completely failed and vehicle would not roll. It happened on a busy street in the middle of Hartford CT. Had to have it towed to the dealer who took 2 weeks to repair it.

transmission failure at 63,000 miles, engine made "whirring" sound. Told by my mechanic that I had sheered off metal pieces making the sound. Dodge told mechanic that there are now over 1000 of the parts on back order with an expected delivery time of 10-12 weeks.

Car was running, shifted into reverse and car lurched forward at an incomprehensible speed. The only time the engine was not sluggish in responding. Put both feet on brake- car went crashing through garage doors, and just stopped. Car is at dealer as we speak. And no, this was not an incident of one stepping on the gas instead of the brake. Waiting to hear from Chrysler- Let the battle begin. Car will be sold. Should have read reviews before I bought. Scariest thing of my life

Journey SXT

• 29,000 miles

We purchased our 2009 Dodge Journey in January of 2010, used with 22,000 miles on it. In March 2010 the transmission went out!!! The vehicle had 29,000 miles on it and it needed a new transmission!!! This is my opinion is completely unacceptable!!! The warranty was still on the car and when I was told I'd have to pay for a 10 day rental I was furious!!! The dealership did eventually wave the rental fee!!!! I have since put two sets of brakes on set of rotors and am still having brake problems. Does anyone else out there have problems first thing in the morning with their brakes? It almost feels like I don't have brakes.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
