In other The 1975 news, Healy recently responded to Noel Gallagher’s comments about him at a 1975 show in Dublin last week (June 7).

“Noel Gallagher called me a ‘slack-jawed fuckwit’… I love Noel Gallagher. We asked Liam to open up and he said he would have done it but he was busy,” he told the crowd.

“But I love Noel Gallagher… He’s just getting on,” he added. “The difference between me and Noel is that I do a series of interviews to promote an album, whereas he does an album to promote a series of interviews. But we love you Noel. Get Oasis back together!”

At the show, Healy also acted as the support slot for his own band, after  Caroline Polachek pulled out at the last minute due to losing her voice .

In his stripped-back solo set, he performed covers of ‘I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You’ by Colin Hay, and Donny Hathaway’s ‘A Song For You’, which was performed alongside touring guitarist Jamie Squire. He also  performed the live debut of their song ‘Then Because She Goes’ .

The 1975 announce 39-date North American tour

The massive still...at their very best tour features shows across the u.s. and canada, beginning in september of this year..

1975 tour new orleans

The 1975 have announced a behemoth run of shows in the U.S. and Canada slated for this fall. The band's Still...at their very best tour kicks off on September 26 at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, and will wrap up almost three whole months later at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena. In celebration, they've also released Episode 4 of their absurdist video series "A Theatrical Performance Of An Intimate Moment."

Still...at their very best is a continuation of the 1975's ongoing At Their Very Best tour, which has been marked by near-constant online discourse, mostly thanks to the antics of frontman Matty Healy. These include eating raw meat on stage, making out with fans, cameramen, and security guards, and — oh, yeah — dating Taylor Swift . These new shows promise an expanded production, but what that means is still anyone's guess.

The 1975 Are Still at Their Very Best for New North American Tour Dates

By Brittany Spanos

Brittany Spanos

The 1975 are returning to the States this fall for a second run of North American tour dates. The UK band’s Still…At Their Very Best trek will kick off in California this September.

The 1975’s latest run supports their 2022 album Being Funny in a Foreign Language, released in October. The group played a run of arena shows in North America last fall and have been performing worldwide all year. They are currently headlining festivals across the UK and Europe this summer.

The band released a new episode of their web series, A Theatrical Performance of an Intimate Moment, to announce the tour. The eight-minute video sees singer Matty Healy going through a morning routine before heading to work at a lab and experimenting on a patch of greenery.

The 1975 Announce New North American Tour Dates for the Fall

Matty Healy and company will hit 32 cities on their biggest North American tour to date

1975 tour new orleans

Samuel Bradley

Did you think they had forgotten about you, fans of The 1975 ?

The British alt-rockers announced Tuesday that they’ll hit the road once more with a series of new North American tour dates on a run titled “Still … at their very best.”

The band, featuring frontman Matty Healy , guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel, will play arenas including New York City’s Madison Square Garden and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in what is their biggest North American tour to date.

The “About You” singers kicked off their "At Their Very Best" tour last year, and have spent the last nine months touring the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

The dates come on the back of the October release of their fifth studio album Being Funny in a Foreign Language , which topped the UK album charts and cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.

Healy, 34, recently praised the brotherhood he’s found among his bandmates during a concert in Vienna, Austria, noting that he’s “not very online at the moment,” but is aware he’s been the subject of some scrutiny following a brief romance with Taylor Swift .

"[Fans at] the front had some very beautiful signs that said 'You are loved.' That was very, very kind of you and I'm sure that it’s alluding to… As you're aware, I'm not very online at the moment and I'm sure people have just been calling me a c--- relentlessly. I've not been online," Healy told the crowd.

He gestured to his bandmates as he continued: "But what I have been with is with my boys and honestly as much as I appreciate that — it's so beautiful, and I thank you, but — I don't need it 'cause I've got them."

Regaining 'Domefield Advantage' Pivotal To The Success Of The New Orleans Saints

Bob rose | jun 21, 2024.

1975 tour new orleans

  • New Orleans Saints

It wasn't that long ago that the Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints , was undoubtedly one of the toughest places to play for NFL opponents. Raucous crowds, a fast-track surface, and the way that the Saints often elevated their play at home made this one of the toughest venues to play at in all of sports.

Since 1975, the building has been the home site for Saints football. It's also hosted several other national events, including more Super Bowls than any other stadium. An intimidating place to play, opponents often had their hands full with even New Orleans teams lacking in talent over the years.

It has been said that the ''great'' teams often find ways to win on the road, but that the ''good'' teams will at least win most of their home games. Even the mediocre squads will often have a winning record when they play at home.

Between 2006 and 2020, with Drew Brees at quarterback and Sean Payton as head coach, that homefield advantage rose to an even higher level. Over those 15 years, the Saints went to the playoffs nine times. Their record at home over that span was 92-45, a winning percentage of. 672 and one of the better marks in the NFL.

In those nine playoff years, the Saints had a 64-18 record inside the Superdome (including postseason), a winning percentage of .781. Their record in the six seasons they did not qualify for the postseason was a somewhat dismal 28-27, a winning percentage of just .509.

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen looks on against the Atlanta Falcons

Simply put, playoff teams at least find a way to win at home. Looking at their results at home since 2021, it is not a coincidence that the Saints have missed the playoffs for three straight seasons.

Since Drew Brees retired following the 2020 season, New Orleans is an almost embarrassing 11-12 inside the Superdome. They were an abysmal 2-5 inside their building in 2021, Sean Payton's last as head coach of the Saints.

In 2022, Dennis Allen's first year as head coach of the team, New Orleans was 4-4 at the Superdome. Last season, their home mark increased to an almost respectable 5-3. Allen's record as a head coach at home in two years is a mediocre 9-7, much like his overall win-loss record as a head coach.

The Saints were once nearly unbeatable in the Superdome in prime-time games. This has been where the team has perhaps fallen the furthest. Since 2021, New Orleans has an 0-5 record when playing at home on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday nights. They've been outscored 136-63 in those contests, an average of 27-12 per game.

Under Dennis Allen, the Saints are 0-2 in prime-time home games over the last two years. They lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 27-13, on a Monday night in the Superdome in 2022. Last season, they were defeated 31-24 by the Jacksonville Jaguars at home on a Thursday night. The Jacksonville loss was the only time in those five prime-time home losses that the Saints were even within 10 points in the defeat.

New Orleans Saints special teams before a kick off against the Atlanta Falcons

New Orleans has nine home games on their 2024-25 schedule.

• Week 1 - Carolina Panthers • Week 3 - Philadelphia Eagles • Week 6 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers • Week 7 - Denver Broncos • Week 10 - Atlanta Falcons • Week 11 - Cleveland Browns • Week 13 - Los Angeles Rams • Week 15 - Washington • Week 17 - Las Vegas Raiders

Barring schedule flexing late in the year, only one of those nine home games is scheduled to be in front of a prime-time audience. On Thursday, October 20, the Saints will host former coach Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos. Four of the Saints home games (Eagles, Buccaneers, Browns, and Rams) are against teams that made the postseason last year.

New Orleans has home games in consecutive weeks only twice. However, they have four home games over a six-week stretch between November 10 and December 15, separated by just one road game and a bye week.

The New Orleans Saints must answer a lot of questions to return to the playoffs this season. Near the top of that list is whether they can regain their once formidable play in the Superdome.

Tour de France 2024 route map, race schedule and how to watch

T he 111th edition of the Tour de France gets under way on Saturday with the world’s four best stage racers all vying for the fabled yellow jersey.

Bookended by the race’s first start in Italy and first finish outside Paris, the 2024 Tour de France boasts a groundbreaking route like none other before.

With a record 3,700m of climbing on the opening day and the legendary Col du Galibier as early as day four, the battle for the yellow jersey should be intense from the get-go. And with the race concluding with a tough time trial between Monaco and Nice – as opposed to the usual bunch sprint after a processional plod into Paris – the main contenders will be going head-to-head right up to the last pedal stroke.

Let’s take a closer look as some of the main talking points ahead of the most important bike race of the year.

Pogacar in pole position as fellow favourites falter

For the first time, the so-called “Big Four” general classification riders – Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel – will all be at the start line of a Grand Tour along with the two classics kings, Wout van Aert and the world champion Mathieu van der Poel.

Mark Cavendish boasts the speed and support crew to break Tour de France record

If there’s no doubting the stardust of the start list then one rider currently towers above the rest: the Slovenian showman Pogacar. The two-time Tour winner added the Giro d’Italia to his swelling palmares this May and returns to Italy for the Grand Depart in Florence in the form of his life. His UAE Team Emirates is also arguably the strongest of the lot, with teammate Adam Yates also capable of finishing on the podium.

While Pogacar was winning six stages and securing the Giro’s pink jersey in May, his three main rivals were all recovering from injuries sustained in a single horror crash that marred the Itzulia Basque Country race in April.

The big question now – and one that will shape the dynamic of the next three weeks – is whether double defending champion Vingegaard is competitive enough to take the fight to Pogacar. The Dane suffered multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken collarbone in the incident – and he has not raced since.

Deprived of a host of key team-mates at Visma-Lease a Bike – including the Covid-stricken Vuelta a España winner, Sepp Kuss – Vingegaard starts his fourth Tour on the back foot. It remains to be seen if this will prove more detrimental to his chances than fatigue from the Giro does to Pogacar’s as both riders aim to become the first to win three Tours.

More British riders than ever before

Four-time champion Chris Froome may have been overlooked by his Israel-Premier Tech team, but a record 11 British riders feature on the startlist – more than ever before.

Isle of Man sprinter Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan) is the pick of the bunch as the 39-year-old attempts to become the outright leading stage winner of the Tour in his 15th and final appearance.

Twins Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) and Simon Yates (Team Jayco-AlUla) are most likely to make a splash in the general classification, while Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers), debutant Stephen Williams (Israel-Premier Tech) and Welsh veteran Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) will be targeting wins on the hillier stages.

I've seen the solution to England's problems. Now let's pray Southgate has too

Bastille day to savour.

Not only does the mythical Col du Galibier come as early as stage four as the riders head over the border from Italy, but also the peloton will tackle 32km of gravel roads in an intriguing ninth stage in north-central France.

But it’s so often the summit finishes that make the Tour so memorable – and this year’s route features five of them for a total of seven days in the high mountains. The pick of the bunch comes on the French national holiday of Bastille Day on 14 July when the riders face the best part of 5,000m of climbing ahead of the second rest day.

Stage 15 is arguably the “queen stage” of the race and features four gruelling Category 1 climbs in the Pyrenees ahead of the brutal ascent to Plateau de Beille, with its series of double-digit pitches and unforgiving gradients devoid of tree cover or hairpin bends.

New kits aplenty – and a new man in white

There will be no fewer than nine teams sporting new kits for the Tour – most notably Visma-Lease a Bike, who have swapped their usual yellow for a slick blue patterned kit echoed on the frames of their Cervelo bikes.

After welcoming Red Bull on board as a new lead sponsor, Roglic’s Bora-Hansgrohe team have also updated their green and yellow colours for a foreboding dark blue kit.

Meanwhile, for the first time since Pogacar made his debut in 2020, a new rider will take the young riders white jersey. Now 25, the Slovenian no longer qualifies for the maillot blanc competition which will open the doors to the likes of Belgian debutant Evenepoel, Spaniards Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) and Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers), and perhaps even Pidcock.

First ever finish outside Paris

The Paris 2024 Olympics means that for the first time in the Tour’s 121-year history, the race will not finish in the French capital. Since 1975, the final stage of the Tour has become synonymous with sprints on the Champs-Elysees. But not only will the 111th edition finish on the French Riviera, it will do so after a final-day individual time trial between Monaco and Nice.

It will be the first time since 1989 that the Tour has concluded with a race against the clock – and the organisers will be hoping for similar drama to that famous showdown between Greg LeMond and Laurent Fignon, when the American ended up coming from behind to win the Tour by just eight seconds, the smallest margin in the race’s history.

How to watch Tour de France 2024 in UK Dates:  29 June – 23 July (rest days on 8 and 15 July) Start times:  Vary day by day, but typically between 11am and 1pm in the UK – the final Stage 21 starts at 1.40pm TV:  ITV4, Eurosport and Welsh-language channel S4C Live stream:   ITVX , Eurosport’s  website  and  discovery+ Highlights:  Daily highlight shows will be broadcast on ITV4 and Eurosport, with replays, interviews and analysis on both  ITV.com  and  Eurosport.co.uk
