Adventure travel is hugely popular in India, as there is such a wide range of possible activities. The Himalaya region is one of the top adventure travel destinations in India . However, there are plenty of options in the south as well! Here's what you can do and where.

Trekking and Mountaineering

TripSavvy / Alicia Erikson

India's mountain ranges provide plenty of trekking and mountaineering options for all fitness levels, whether you'd prefer a leisurely day hike or a challenging walk along the frozen Zanskar River (the Chadar Ice Trek). These top treks in Ladakh are popular. In addition, the Indian government recently announced that the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range north of the Nubra Valley is now open to experienced mountaineers. The states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in northern India also offer excellent trekking opportunities, such as the delightful Valley of Flowers . For a pristine mountain trek in Uttarakhand, head off the beaten path at Kalap . If you really want to get away from it all and like a challenge, try a remote trek that's still under the radar. For guided treks of all descriptions, some of the best companies are Ibex Expeditions , Peak Adventure Tours , Garhwal Himalayan Explorations , and Himalayan Frontiers .

Newer activities, such as kite surfing, are now catching on as well. Imagine the rush from surfing while hanging onto a kite high up in the sky! Lessons are available for those who are inexperienced. It's possible to learn in 12-14 hours. Atlantis Water Sports is the most well-established provider.

  • Where: Water sports are offered all along Goa's beaches . In north Goa, particularly around Candolim, Calangute, Morjim, and Arambol beaches. Also selected beaches in south Goa, such as Benaulim.

Touring India on a motorcycle is the ultimate way of exploring the countryside if you have a love of traveling and motorbike riding. Enjoy the freedom to discover and experience India in a way which isn't possible using other forms of transport. Here are some of the top motorcycling destinations and tours in India . For the ultimate adventure, consider joining the annual Himalayan Odyssey , in July , from Delhi to Leh. It involves traversing some of the most challenging trails and highest mountain passes in India.

  • Where: All over the country, including the Himalaya region, Rajasthan, and south India.

Auto Rickshaw Rampaging

Did you know that it's possible for you to drive an auto-rickshaw across India? Known as the Rickshaw Challenge , Chennai Event Management Services operates around four of these madcap events a year. They're a hilarious, extraordinary way of experiencing India and seeing the Indian countryside while contributing to charity as well.

  • Where: South India, through the states of Tamil Nadu , Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra.

Camel and Yak Safaris

One of the most unforgettable and enchanting experiences you can have in India is to ride through the rippling, windswept desert on camel back and camp out under the stars. Taking a camel safari will also give you the opportunity to witness the rustic, rural desert life of India.

  • Where: Jaisalmer and Bikaner in Rajasthan. It's also possible to go on a camel safari in the alpine desert around Ladakh , mainly in the Nubra Valley from Hundar to Diskit. The camels on these trips are the double hump Bactrian variety.

Alternatively, for a really unique experience, opt for a yak safari!

  • Where: Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh.

Mountain Biking

Riding a bike amidst the peaceful surroundings of nature provides a special kind of pleasure for adventure lovers. The vastly varied topography of India ensures that there's wide scope for mountain biking, including plenty of tricky terrains. Whether you ride individually or on a tour, an assault on your senses is guaranteed. Companies that offer mountain biking in India include Ecosphere Spiti  and Mountain Bike Kerala .

  • Where: Mainly in the Himalaya region. Also in the mountainous areas of Kerala, in south India.

  • Where: Goa, Rajasthan, Lonavala in Maharashtra, Neemrana near Delhi, and the Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh.

Did you know, it's possible to zip past Mehrangarh Fort in Rajasthan's Blue City of Jodhpur . How cool is that! There are other zip-lines over heritage forts, jungles and the Ganges River in India. It's a lot of fun and you'll get spectacular views that other tourists miss out on.

  • Where: Jodhpur, Neemrana near Delhi, Kikar near Chandigarh in Punjab, and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.

Heli Skiing

Take skiing to a whole new level and explore pristine, normally inaccessible terrain. You'll be airlifted by helicopter to slopes and mountain tops that are impossible to reach otherwise. Marvel at the virgin environment, and be the first to leave your tracks in the snow. Be warned, the thrill doesn't come cheap though!  Himalayan Heli Adventures offers various heli-skiing trips. The season runs from January to April.

  • Where: Himachal Pradesh (based in Manali ) and Kashmir (based in Srinagar ).

The 10 Best Adventure Tours in India

Trekking in Stok Kangri, India

A thrill seeker will be spoilt for choice in India. From a snow leopard trail in the Hemis National Park in Ladakh to a motorcycle tour to Gurudongmar, the highest lake in India, and even an entertaining rickshaw challenge across the country, these are the 10 best adventure tours to book in India.

Stok kangri mountaineering expedition.

Stok Kangri is a perfect starting point for novice mountaineers. Not too technical, but still quite challenging, an expedition to this peak can be treated as an initial test before going on to conquer higher and more difficult mountains. But that doesn’t mean Stok Kangri is a cakewalk. As the mountain stands at an altitude of 20,128 feet (6,135 metres), the trek still requires great physical and mental stamina. The breathtaking scenery throughout the trip does make all the hard work worth it in the end. Try the eight-day expedition from Adventure Nation to experience the best of Stok Kangri.

Stok Kangri, Ladakh, India

Snow leopard trail at Hemis National Park

The Hemis National Park in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir is said to have the highest density of snow leopards in any protected area on Earth – this is why it has become a favourite with those seeking to catch a glimpse of this majestic creature. The snowcapped mountains are also home to the blue sheep, Tibetan wolf, red fox and Eurasian brown bear. Take a guided tour with Nature Safari India , and team up with locals who are experts at tracking these animals, including the elusive snow leopard.

Zip-lining over the Ganges River in Rishikesh

Rishikesh has become renowned as the yoga capital of the world, but people also flock to the holy town for its array of adventure sports. While river rafting is the most popular activity in Rishikesh, try something different during your visit and opt for zip-lining instead. Flying Fox is a tour operator that specialises in this particular sport, and at Rishikesh, they offer a thrilling 1,300-foot (396-metre) zip-line. For an hour, you can soak in the beautiful views of this Himalayan town while hanging 200 feet (61 metres) above the Ganges. It does not get more dramatic than this.

Rishikesh, India

Kinner Kailash spiritual Parikrama trek

Kinner Kailash is a sacred mountain, revered by both the Hindus and the Buddhists. As it is with holy places, there are many fascinating legends attached with Kinner Kailash. It is also one of the more difficult pilgrimage treks in India, which means it’s an ideal journey for any adventure buff. Due to its spiritual nature, the parikrama (circumambulation of a religious place) trek is a bit different from other orthodox routes. Himalayan Frontiers provides a comprehensive two-week tour of Kinner Kailash, and the best time to take the trek is from June to October.

Mt.Kinner Kailash, India

Sailing across the Brahmaputra River

The mighty Brahmaputra River flows across three countries: China, India and Bangladesh. In India, the river forms the very soul of the state of Assam. Aqua Terra provides a unique two-week tour across this river where you will alternate between riding on kayaks when on the water and on bicycles when on land. Some of the highlights of the trip will be a stopover at the Kaziranga National Park and an opportunity to camp on sandbars. The best memory from the journey, however, will be the view of the Brahmaputra during sunset.

Paragliding in Bir Billing

If you want to go paragliding in India, Bir Billing in Himachal Pradesh is the first place you should consider. It is, after all, the paragliding capital of the country. With the Billing Paragliding Association , you can choose to combine the high-flying activity with other adventure sports such as trekking, camping, rock climbing and rappelling. When you’re catching a break from all the exciting events, do visit the quaint Tibetan market in Bir village for souvenirs to take back home.

Mountain biking in Kerala

Kerala is a hugely popular destination for Ayurveda and yoga retreats. But even if you’re looking for rush rather than relaxation, the South Indian state does not disappoint. Kerala, known as ‘God’s Own Country’, is one of the most picturesque regions in India. Explore this landscape on a bike with a Mountain Bike Kerala tour. The undulating route, marked with steep cliffs at certain points, will test your biking skills to the fullest, while stunning views of lush tea gardens keep you company throughout. Maybe after all the physical activity, you can even check into a wellness retreat to revive those aching muscles.

Winter sports in Gulmarg

Every winter, Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir comes to life with ski enthusiasts from across the country making a beeline for the hill station. Gulmarg is a fantastic place which should be on the must-visit list of all those who are into winter sports. The only reason it isn’t as well known outside of India is probably due to the fact that Kashmir, one of the most beautiful places in the world, unfortunately, lies in a politically sensitive zone. Discover this untapped destination with Gulmarg Backcountry tours, which provides heliskiing and snowboarding adventures. They also have a ski school with internationally certified instructors.

Rickshaw Challenge

This next adventure is one that you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the world. The Rickshaw Challenge allows you to explore the country in one of the most common modes of transport used by Indians. Unlike other races, the thrill does not lie in the speed since the auto-rickshaw can only travel at 60 kilometres per hour (37 mph) at best, but the delight is in experiencing the local culture in the most unique way imaginable. The one-of-a-kind package designed by Travel Scientists allows you to choose from five different routes, and they also let you customise your rickshaw any way you want. You will also be giving back to society with the Travel Scientists’ partnership with Round Table India charity.

Motorcycle tour in Sikkim

Recently, Sikkim has become a hot spot for motorcycle aficionados. The rugged mountain terrain, the winding roads and the scenic landscape of this small Himalayan state in the north-east region of India have all contributed to this growing affinity. Try a difficult but inspiring BB Line motorcycle tour to Gurudongmar, which is the highest lake in India. The stillness of the sacred lake at 17,800 feet (5,425 meters) high is an experience to behold. You will pass through hot springs, a rhododendron sanctuary and sparkling waterfalls and spend the night in village homestays for a truly local experience.

Adventure Tours in India

Due to a diverse topography, adventure tours in India are of different types. These will help you get over the boredom induced by the unidimensional city life. Whenever you want a unique and insightful vacation, go for such thrilling engagements as they will make you feel joyous. You could enjoy them alone, with friends or like a fun family outing. There are many adventure destinations in India, and you can go for sightseeing in and around them.

Adventure Destinations in India

Adventure trips can be taken to a number of destinations in the country, with each one being famous for a particular activity.

Ladakh: The rough terrain and natural beauty of Ladakh have made it an admirable destination for adventure lovers. With an average elevation of over 10000 feet above sea level, Ladakh has a cold arid climate.

Rishikesh: This sacred place is located in the state of Uttarakhand, and is another well-known spot to indulge in thrill-inducing sports like rafting, rock climbing, rappelling and more. Rishikesh can be visited in any month as the weather here is always pleasant.

Lonavala: It is about 65 km from Pune, and is a popular hill town. With a moderate altitude of approximately 2050 feet, the topography here is not too rugged, and the weather does not become extreme. Hot air ballooning is popular here.

Kamshet: This destination lies in the Sahyadri Ranges; hence its altitude is moderate. Even in the peak of winters, the temperature rarely drops to below 10 degree Celsius, making it a nice place to enjoy the season. Paragliding is done here from October to April.

Kolad: Another amazing place to relish thrilling sport of rafting, this little village lies on the banks of the Kundalika River. Away from urban centres and immersed in tranquillity, it is an ideal getaway if you want to relax.

Goa: Those who want to have an exciting time along the seas should definitely come to Goa. It is a perfect place to indulge in some fabulous and exciting water sports.

Apart from the above-mentioned places for adventure trips in India, there are hordes of other sites too to plan thrilling expeditions.

Adventure Activities in India

With a plethora of exciting engagements in the country, such excitement-developing sports are bound to continue gaining admiration.

Treks : You can trek at a number of destinations like Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir.

Motor Bike Expeditions : Biking trips on the Leh-Manali highway and through South and West India are hosted by loads of travel agencies as they are highly admired.

River Rafting : The state of Uttarakhand and the village of Kolad are two prime destinations for rafting.

Hot Air Ballooning : Jaipur in Rajasthan and Lonavala near Mumbai are the two most sought after places for hot air ballooning. Both these destinations have weather conditions, which are favourable for the engagement.

Scuba Diving : To see the underwater world from up close, travel to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the state of Goa or the town of  Murudeshwar in Karnataka. You will get scuba training from PADI certified instructors at all these sites before you head out to the sea.

Wildlife Safari : The country has loads of protected areas like Corbett, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench national parks, where wildlife safaris can be availed.

Camping : You can camp wherever there are untouched environs like hills and forests. There are many such places in Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, which you can pick.

Enjoy Adventure Trips in India

Seasonality

The adventure tours in India you want to go on will determine the perfect season for them.

Treks: Summers are generally preferred for trekking because of the pleasant weather high up in the mountains, except for the Chadar trek, which can only be done in winters.

Bike Expeditions: Biking in Ladakh should be done in summers while winters are ideal for journeys through West and South India.

Rafting: The rainy season is perfect for rafting on the Kundalika River, whereas the time before and after the said season is when rafting is organised on the Ganga River.

Hot Air Ballooning: The best season for this activity is between October and April primarily and it is hosted at 5:30 am and 4:00 pm because of ideal wind speeds.

Scuba Diving: You should scuba dive when the seas are calm, which is generally the case in the non rainy season.

Wildlife Safari: In India, wildlife safaris are only possible when it is not raining. Most protected areas are closed during monsoons due to the damage caused to roads.

Camping: As camping involves living in tents, you should always go for the engagement when the weather is not too hot or not too cold.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a pristine paradise in the Bay of Bengal, are renowned for offering some of the best adventure sports in India, particularly scuba diving. These islands serve as a gateway to exploring the underwater wonders that lie beneath the surface of the crystal-clear waters.

Havelock Island, now known as Swaraj Dweep, is a favorite among divers, from beginners to the experienced. It provides a variety of diving sites where one can encounter everything from colorful fish and coral gardens to sunken ships and volcanic formations. The experience is nothing short of magical, with the tranquility of the underwater world offering a stark contrast to the adrenaline of adventure sports on land.

Adventure sports in India are incomplete without the mention of trekking, a favorite among both locals and visitors. The country boasts a plethora of trails that cater to all levels of experience, each promising its own set of breathtaking views and unique experiences.

From the serene valleys of the Western Ghats to the high-altitude deserts of Ladakh, trekking in India is as varied as the country itself. Adventure Sports in India: The Emerging Hotspot for Kitesurfing

India’s extensive coastline and favorable wind conditions have recently put it on the map as an emerging hotspot for kitesurfing, an exhilarating blend of surfing, windsurfing, and paragliding. This relatively new addition to Adventure Sports in India offers an adrenaline-pumping experience, as enthusiasts harness the power of the wind to glide across the water and leap into the air. Rameswaram, with its shallow waters and consistent winds, is leading the charge, attracting both beginners and seasoned kitesurfers from around the globe.

Kitesurfing in India is not just about the thrill of the sport; it’s an opportunity to connect with a rapidly growing community of like-minded adventurers. The sport’s rise in popularity is supported by an increasing number of schools and instructors, making it accessible to those eager to learn. With the right guidance, even novices can quickly get up to speed and start enjoying the unique sensation of flying over the water.

The appeal of kitesurfing lies in its combination of physical challenge and the sheer joy of being at one with the elements. It requires skill, focus, and a bit of courage, but the reward is an unparalleled sense of freedom. As you navigate the waves, propelled by the wind, you’re treated to stunning views of India’s coastline, making the experience even more memorable.

Adventure Sports in India are diverse and cater to a wide range of interests, and kitesurfing is a testament to the country’s evolving adventure sports scene. It embodies the spirit of discovery and the endless pursuit of excitement, offering a new way for visitors and locals alike to experience the beauty of India’s natural landscapes.

The local guides were good & able to accommodate the children & their attention span/needs mostly. Local representative were all very helpful as well.

Lynda Smart 26 Sep 6 Oct 2016t

Dear Swadesh, thank you for organizing this tour for us. Hynne and I had a truly wonderful time. On the three occasions that you organized guides for us, they all just fantastic of particular mention is Vikram Punia in Jaipur. WE would highly recommended him + want him again if we visit. Our driver for the whole time Raghu? Was just a delight. While he was not a great talker he was an excellent driver. All the hotels were excellent with the Hilton in Jaipur in the best Hilton I have ever stayed. The staff did everything possible to made our stay wonderful.

India's best adventure sports

By mountain, sky, or water, discover some of world's best adventures.

To the north, India wears the Himalaya like a white crown. Plains and plateaus are riven by the mountains’ spawning rivers, carving stunning gorges and hidden valleys. Jungles, deserts, and beaches abound across the Indian peninsula.

India has inspired profound spiritual relationships to the natural world for thousands of years. Now this awesome and diverse geography is kindling a different kind of connection among the adventurous athletes and enthusiasts who are waking up to see India as an adventure sports frontier. Here are some of the best adventures India has to offer.

trekking-foothills-of-ladakh-adventure-sports-india

The diversity of treks through India include romps across wild meadows, cultural tours through anachronistic valleys, and demanding ascents of high altitude passes. Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir offers a wide variety of challenging trekking routes and is a destination rich in culture. The Sandakphu Phalut Trek in West Bengal offers grand vistas of the world’s four tallest mountains from rhododendron lined trails along the border of Nepal. The Valley of Flowers trek in Uttarakhand boasts a riot of exotic flora in its prime summer season. From here, one must venture onward to nearby Nanda Devi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to gaze upon its namesake mountain, India’s second tallest and arguably most beautiful peak.

Go Extreme: The Chadar trek is a demanding winter adventure up the frozen Zanskar river.

Mountaineering

Mountaineers must approach the Himalaya—considered the home of the Hindu gods—with respect, not to mention proper skills and acclimatization. A good place to start is the easy Friendship Peak, more than 16,000 feet high, in Pir Panjal range in Himachal Pradesh. Hanuman Tibba, the highest point in the Dhauldhar Range, is a geometric pyramid of snow that offers mountaineers a moderate proposition with an outsized reward. Then there are far more formidable challenges on the myriad peaks over 19,000 feet, including Kedarnath Peak and the trio of summits along the Trisul massif, said to represent the trident of the great Lord Shiva.

Go Extreme: Mount Shivling, more than 20,000 feet high, is striking spire of rock and snow that simply beckons brave mountaineers.

Rock Climbing

There has been a renaissance of rock climbing development throughout the country, particularly in the southern state of Karnataka. Hampi is a world class destination for bouldering enthusiasts due to its seemingly endless hillsides that are covered in giant egg-shaped granite boulders. Badami is a relatively small village surrounded by striking red sandstone cliffs that lend themselves to excellent trad and sport climbing. Here there are over 150 routes of varying difficulties set beside ancient stone cave temples.

Go Extreme: With a difficulty rating of 5.14a/8b+, “Ganesh,” at Badami, is currently India’s most difficult rock climb.

Paragliding

With easy access and gorgeous rolling terrain, the entire state of Himachal Pradesh is an ethereal playground for paragliders. But if you had to choose just one place to start, the idyllic meadow launch point of Bir Billing above the village of Bir is perhaps the best.

Go Extreme: Just beyond Manali, the Solang Valley with its steep terrain, thick pine forests, and surrounding snow capped peaks make it a crucible of adventure. However, it’s the stable, strong winds that make Solang an ideal paragliding destination for long flights most of the year.

bir-billing-paragliding-adventure-sports-india

True powder hounds will want to lap it up in Jammu and Kashmir, with its “curry powder,” the locals’ affectionate term for their own brand of granular, fluffy snow. At the Gulmarg Ski Resort, the gondola deposits skiers a good way up Mount Apharwat, though many skiers continue higher to reach the over 13,000 foot summit. Here, they will be rewarded with a leg-crushing nearly 4,000-foot straight-shots down chutes and bowls.

Go Extreme: If you’re looking for even bigger terrain, there are many backcountry heli-skiing opportunities throughout Kashmir, as well in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

With India’s massive coastline of over 4,000 miles, the real question becomes: where isn’t there surfing? In Tamil Nadu, there’s Mahabalipuram, Covelong, and Auroville. Kovalam and Varkala are among the best surf spots. Most of the year, these destinations are perfect for beginners and intermediates to thrash around in the wake. In general, the east coast has bigger waves than the west—consider the east point break at Visakhapatnam (Vizag) in Andhra Pradesh or Puri in Orissa. Experienced surfers will want to visit during the monsoon (June-October), when the waves get big enough for a good time.

Go Extreme: Off the coast of India, the Andaman Islands, with their remote boat-accessed waves, are a premiere destination for more adventurous surfers.

morning-cruise--mulki-adventure-sports-india

Rivers are held in high regard throughout India, especially among kayakers and rafters who hold a deep and profound reverence for the might and majesty of these Himalayan-fed rivers. From Gaumukh (“cow’s mouth”), the head of the sacred Ganges River, numerous rafting adventures of all grades abound as you head down its tributaries, including on the Bhagirathi, Alaknanda, and Mandakini.

Go Extreme: The Zanskar River in Ladakh offers a class 4 rafting experience through a tight-walled canyon at over 4,000 meters elevation.

ganges-river-rapids-class-adventure-sports-india

Navigating class 4 rapids on the Ganges River in Uttarakhand, India.

The mangrove-lined coastlines of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may be best experienced by kayak. New York moves to limit kids’ access to ‘addictive feeds’

New York’s state legislature has passed a bill that would prohibit social media companies from showing so-called “addictive feeds” to children under 18, unless they obtain parental consent. The Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) for Kids Act defines an addictive feed as one where the content is recommended or prioritized based on information about the user or the user’s device — basically, these are the algorithmic news feeds used by most social apps. New York Governor Kathy Hochul is expected to sign the bill; her office has already released a statement praising its passage, along with the passage of a related New York Child Data Protection Act, which prohibits online platforms from collecting or selling personal data from users under 18 without informed consent.

Online Travel Companies See Surge in Sports Tourism in India – India Report

Bulbul Dhawan , Skift

June 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 PM EDT

Indian travelers are combining their love for sports with increased spending power to experience major sporting events live. To better understand the trend in sports tourism, Skift reached out to online travel companies - here's what they're seeing.

Bulbul Dhawan

The Skift India Newsletter is your go-to platform for all news related to travel, tourism, airlines, and hospitality in India.

Sports tourism is on a rise in India, with the country’s sports tourism market expected to be valued at nearly $53 billion in 2033, according to a report released by market research firm Future Market Insights last year. The firm expects the industry to grow at an annual rate of 17.1% from its valuation of $11 billion in 2023.

Major sporting events, including the cricket T20 World Cup series, Wimbledon, and the 2024 Olympics are coming soon. These tournaments are popular among sport enthusiasts in India, and as the spending power of Indian travelers is increasing , there seems to be an increased interest in seeing them live.

Skift reached out to online travel companies to understand the trends that they are seeing:

Rajeev Kale – President and Country Head, Holidays, MICE, Visa at Thomas Cook (India) Limited: “Our consumer data trends for 2024 highlight a 40% surge in demand for big-ticket global sporting events. Topping the list is the cricket World Cup series, Wimbledon, the Olympics, and F1. We have received about 200 queries including confirmed group bookings for the anticipated India-Pakistan cricket match in New York.”

Kale said that these events play a key role in influencing travel decisions, with 23% of consumers taking them into account while choosing destinations.

“What is truly encouraging is that Indians are clearly displaying a spend appetite for such sporting extravaganzas.”

Daniel D’Souza – President and Country Head at Holidays, SOTC Travel: Sports tourism is becoming a major driver for the Indian market, said D’Souza. “The demand is increasing by 20-35%. Live attendance is an exciting and desirable experience for Indian travelers, evident by their dominance in overseas ticket purchases for major sporting events such as cricket, Wimbledon and Australian Open in lawn tennis, and football.”

D’Souza added that sports tourism used to be a niche market in India previously, but is now attracting a wider audience, including high net worth individuals and ultra high net worth individuals, families, and young Indians across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

Santosh Kumar – Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia at Booking.com: “Indian sports fans are traveling the world to watch their favorite sporting events. According to our travel trends for 2024, 73% of Indian travelers are planning to travel internationally for sporting events this year. We are seeing this passion translating into real action with our accommodation search data revealing a rise in searches for host destinations.”

Kumar shared that London, Paris, and New York are among the top 10 most searched destinations by Indians – corresponding with events like Wimbledon Championships, Paris 2024 Olympics, and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup respectively.

“We are excited to achieve another milestone in our journey of expanding our presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions of the country,” said Radisson’s South Asia area senior vice president Nikhil Sharma.

The company has been strategically focusing on Tier 1 as well as smaller markets in India for its growth across brands. It recently debuted its luxury lifestyle brand, Radisson Collection, in India .

In an interview with Skift, Radisson executive vice president Elie Younes said, “India has seen significant economic growth over the past few decades, leading to an increase in disposable income and a growing appetite for luxury lifestyle experiences. We recognize the immense potential of this flourishing market.”

Royal Orchid Hotels’ Total Income Increases by 12%

Royal Orchid Hotels has announced that its total income in the fiscal 2024 increased by 12% as compared to fiscal 2023. Its profit after tax has seen a marginal increase of 3%.

However, the company is gearing up for the next financial year, said chairman and managing director Chander K Baljee. “We are implementing key drivers for growth to demonstrate our vision for the future of Indian hospitality – by redefining brands, strengthening our management team, and bringing in new technologies and processes. Financial year 2025 is poised to be a  transformative year, setting the company up for the future,” he said.

The company is planning to add 30-35 new properties with about 2,000 rooms in fiscal 2025 as part of its expansion plans across India.

Best MLB stadium tours: Go behind the scenes at these ballparks

“Life is an adventure, it’s not a package tour.”  – German philosopher Eckhart Tolle

If you enjoy going on “package tours” of historic mansions, foreign cities or fascinating museums, why not take a tour at a Major League Baseball stadium? We won’t tell Tolle, but let’s consider such a guided tour our own little “adventure.”

While it varies by venue, such tours typically lead you through the clubhouse, press box, workout facilities, batting cages under the stands, a dugout … and some will even allow you to walk onto the playing field. If the team has its own museum, those are likely to be included. The Atlanta Braves, for instance, include a curated look at their exceptional Monument Garden at Truist Park when you take one of their tours.

When planning a tour of a Major League ballpark, keep several things in mind:

Pro Tip No. 1: For the most behind-the-scenes experiences, go when the team doesn’t have a home game.

Follow every MLB game: Latest MLB scores, stats, schedules and standings.

You will often see notices listing features you won’t be able to see when there is a game that day. So even though you are likely to pay the same whether such access is permitted or denied, you’ll get more for your money when the team is on the road, or has an off-day during a homestand.

Pro Tip No. 2  Hurry to visit an older ballpark. You might not get another chance.

Derrick Sloboda of Fort Wayne, Indiana considers himself quite fortunate that he took a tour at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park before it was demolished. The Giants had already moved closer to downtown at what is now called Oracle Park, and the 49ers were about to move south to Santa Clara, so Candlestick was in its final weeks.

“The guide extended the tour by an hour because so many people were saying ‘good bye,’ (so) we had half hour on the field, which was great,” recalls Sloboda.

Keep in mind that the main purpose of taking a guided tour is to create memories, and once that venue is gone, those memories will be even more special to you.

Pro Tip No. 3: Try to overlook the high prices

Typically the money you pay for the tour goes to a charity or “foundation” operated by the team, or one that’s meaningful to the ownership. The prices can be pretty high (VIP Tours at some parks top $500), but you’ll get to visit parts of the facility that fans rarely get to see.

So rather than focusing on what it costs, think about the charity your purchase is supporting. And appreciate that you and your family are getting to experience the places where your favorite players do their work.

It’s hard to put a price tag on that.

Join us now for our ranking of the five MLB parks with the best tours (OK, I’m cheating by including six!), based partially on the experiences of visitors to my BaseballParks.com site.

1. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles

While other teams might offer you one or two options of tours, the Dodgers provide 11 ! These range from the standard walking stadium tour ($30, and kids and seniors are $25), to the pregame tour of landmarks within the ballpark ($45), to the "Take the Field Tour" where you can play catch in the outfield ($175, only on non-game days – bring your glove!) all the way to the $500 VIP Tour that includes getting to greet the players as they take batting practice.

Most of these experiences include a tour of the Vin Scully Press Box, which is Holy Ground to me, because it’s where I actually got to meet Vin about a dozen years ago!

While on a trip to visit relatives in California, Dutch citizen Chris Kabout thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Chavez Ravine. “The tour showed you the press boxes, old locker rooms, showcases with trophies, gold gloves, retired jerseys, the dugout and you were allowed to walk on the dirt,” he recalls.

The Netherlands resident added that the tour’s guide kept things lively by asking the group trivia questions about the Dodgers. And considering the team dates back to 1883 as the Brooklyn Grays, there is a lot of trivia to discuss!

2. Citi Field, New York  Mets

As befits Citi Field’s reputation as a fun place to attend a game, tours of the Mets’ home have a decidedly upbeat and enjoyable atmosphere, complete with a sit-down history lesson in the room where post-game press conferences are held.

Like the Dodgers, the Mets offer multiple tour options – with varying prices. The public tour costs $25 ($20 for kids 12 and under) and will take you to the private suites, two of the season-ticket-holder restaurants, the press box and down on the field.

On days with a home night game, the "Grand Slam Tour" is available for $70, and that’s over and above the cost of your game ticket. This also permits early entry into the park to watch batting practice. If you want to get closer to the players around the batting cage, there’s the $250 All-Star Tour.

They also offer private tours, with the cost depends on how many are in your group. For instance, if you put together a group of ten, the cost is $62.50 per person.

3. Wrigley Field, Chicago  Cubs

When Wrigley was being designed 110 years ago, they didn’t make it easy to get from one spot under the stands to another. But that just makes the guided tours of the Friendly Confines all the more interesting.

The charge of $30 is reasonable compared to other parks, and whether it’s a gameday or not, you’ll get to check out the famous bleachers and go down on the field. If the Cubbies aren’t home that day, you’ll also get to go in the visiting clubhouse plus one of the dugouts … and you’ll get up close and personal with the iconic ivy growing on the outfield wall.

4. Yankee Stadium, New York

If you go on a tour here, you won’t be visiting the exact spot where Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig played – or Bernie Williams for that matter – because this version of Yankee Stadium opened in 2009. But you will be able to visit the monuments to Babe and Lou in Monument Park in center field as part of the $35 Classic Tour. It also includes the New York Yankees museum. There’s even a version of the tour that includes lunch at the Hard Rock Café that’s built into the ballpark.

One number you’ll see and hear often during any tour here: 27. That’s the number of World Series titles captured by the Bronx Bombers. They won’t let you forget it!

5 (tie). Busch Stadium, St. Louis Cardinals & Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City Royals

While one is a fairly new facility (Busch Stadium, 2006) and one is kind of not-so-new (Kauffman Stadium, 1973), they have more in common than the state of Missouri. Both the Cards and Royals operate exceptional museums that are worthy of your time, and their tour guides are among the nicest and friendliest in the sport.

The Royals have been operating tours for decades, and they have the process down pat. They offer three versions, and you can’t beat the prices: the Classic Tour costs $15; the All-Star tour is $25 (includes the team Hall of Fame); and the MVP Tour costs $35 (includes the broadcast facilities and the dugout suites). Don’t forget to visit KC’s excellent Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, just six miles west of Kauffman.

Across the state in St. Louis, the Cards offer two tours. The 360 Tour is a quick walk around the park and the dugout, showing you the view from various vantage points. It costs $12. The Classic Tour is $22 and includes a visit to the broadcast booths and admission to the Cardinals museum across the street.

Come to think of it, plan an adventure to Missouri so you can visit both Kauffman and Busch. The “package tours” sure are affordable, and you won’t get in trouble with a German philosopher!

About Joe Mock: Joe has examined all 30 Major League parks, all 23 spring training parks and all 119 affiliated Minor League parks – plus plenty of indy league and college facilities. He covers sports facilities for USA TODAY publications and he’s operated  BaseballParks.com  since 1997. There he’s posted nearly 100 in-depth reviews of pro parks that have opened in the last quarter century. His ballpark expertise has landed him appearances on the Travel Channel and History Channel. You can  follow his ballpark escapades on X @baseballparks .
