Beyoncé is welcomed home by Houston’s chrome-covered fans

By Lauren Bulbin and Mark Felix | Sep 25, 2023

Houston’s NRG Stadium was brimming with a new kind of energy this weekend. The Beyhive swarmed the city for the arrival and performance of Beyoncé. This was the Queen’s triumphant return to her hometown stage, where she performed for thousands of fans on Saturday and Sunday night on her Renaissance World Tour. Fans arrived from all over the world, causing tickets prices in Houston to be among the most expensive on the global tour. Some paid 3x more than in other cities for floor tickets. And, of course, there was no shortage of chrome cowboy style!

Mark Felix for The Washington Post

“Beyoncé has been a part of my life since hearing Destiny’s Child on the radio as a kid. Her artistic growth, the way she empowers my friends and her pure talent are truly a gift she has given us. I love her for her dedication to her craft, her spirit and the Beyhive! #JusticeforThique”

Daniel Bautista, 25, has his photo taken by a friend during a Beyoncé-themed pre-game party in Houston.

“Beyoncé, being a fellow Virgo like myself, really encapsulates the hard work, talent and commitment to her artistry that I fell in love with. Apart from being nothing short of pure talent, she is an amazing human being that loves and respects everyone around her and that is a characteristic that sets her apart from most A-list celebrities. Lastly, I love and adore Beyoncé because time and time again she demonstrates that she doesn’t make music, she creates art that will transcend time and cultures.”

— Daniel Bautista, 25, from Austin

Yazmeen Hicks, 31, whips around her ponytail during a Beyoncé-themed pre-game party in Houston.

“She is a great performer. I don’t consider myself part of the hive, but I feel like everyone should see her perform. Denying her talent is kind of ridiculous.”

“I love Beyoncé because she inspires me to do the most. Black women are told they have to shrink themselves to be accepted in society, but she represents the complete opposite. Be yourself at max capacity. Do the most, be extra ... Go above and beyond for yourself. Be that GIRL.” — Jada Murray, 23, from Austin.

Ken Thompson, 28, from Houston, said, “Beyoncé has been my favorite artist since childhood. She empowers me to want to always be myself!”

Ready for the renaissance tour where to buy beyoncé’s disco cowboy hat.

Beyoncé has had a busy month. After an epic three nights of sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., including a star-studded birthday concert on Sept. 4 with surprise appearances from Diana Ross and Kendrick Lamar, the superstar took a week off to relax. After the birthday break, Bey returned to the stage in Vancouver , B.C., and Seattle before heading to Arlington, Texas earlier in the week. Beyoncé will perform two shows at Houston’s NRG Stadium this weekend.

The Renaissance tour has already made its way around most of the U.S. Between the setlist, wardrobe, visuals, Blue Ivy’s adorable dance cameos and the return of Les Twins, Mrs. Carter has been pulling out all the stops for her first jaunt in more than six years.

Night 1 of the Renaissance World Tour kicked off in Stockholm, Sweden, in May.

If you want to be in the building for one of the most anticipated tours of 2023 , we’ve rounded up details on how to get last-minute tickets, how much they cost and other tour info that you might need to know.

Where to Buy Cheap Tickets to Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour

Beyoncé made sure that fans — not resellers — had first dibs on tickets to her tour. According to Ticketmaster, a “lottery-style” process was employed to determine which Verified Fans got access codes to purchase tickets, while others get waitlisted until more tickets became available.

Resale tickets to the Renaissance Tour are currently available at Ticketmaster / LiveNation , in addition to Vivid Seats , Stub Hub and Seat Geek .

How Much Do Beyoncé Tickets Cost?

Although ticket prices vary depending on seat location, based on average prices on Ticketmaster , Vivid Seats , Seat Geek and Stub Hub , fans can expect to pay around $400-$550 (including fees) for a decent seat — but that’s not the lowest ticket price available. Resale tickets for Houston are currently priced as low as $279 at StubHub . Prices go up based on demand, so it’s best to get tickets early, especially the dates that are selling out quickly such as her Houston shows.

At press time, tickets to New Orleans and Kansas City are currently priced at around $170 up to around $3,400 for the cheapest passes.

Where can you find the cheapest tickets online? Finding cheap tickets to a highly-anticipated tour means being flexible about dates and locations, and possibly sitting in the nosebleeds or an area with a limited view of the stage.

One the other hand, if you don’t live in the city where you find a cheaper ticket, you could end up spending more money overall. That said, the cheapest resale tickets that we’ve found are priced as low as $185 on StubHub — but on average, most of the lower-priced tickets are around $300 and up , and that doesn’t include fees.

Buying tickets early is a safe choice because you’ll have more seating options and a wider range of ticket prices to choose from, and resale prices sometimes increase on the day of the concert.

Because Beyoncé took extra steps so that resellers wouldn’t hike up ticket prices, fans can find resale tickets for an affordable rate but if you have a specific budget in mind, it’s probably best to get your tickets now. According to fan posts on TikTok and Twitter in February, when you attempt to resell tickets, the following notification pops up: “You cannot resell your tickets for higher than the price you paid, including all fees.”

As for the more expensive options, tickets closest to the stage will cost you around $1,000 at minimum and upwards of $5,000 for the “Club Renaissance” section depending on the date of the concert.

Where Does the Renaissance Tour Head Next?

The Renaissance World Tour has made stops in London, Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Cologne, Stockholm and Amsterdam. The North American leg kicked off in Toronto in July and includes stops in Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta, St. Louis, Kansas City, Nashville, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Seattle and Arlington. After Houston, the tour heads to New Orleans on Sept. 27 and Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 1.

Renaissance Tour Merch: Where to Buy Online

Renaissance tour merch is available on Beyoncé’s official Amazon store . So far, Queen Bey has released four merch drops comprised of tour-branded T-shirts, sweatpants and sweatshirts . The new Ivy Paradise collection sold out already, but you might be able to find pieces on Stockx .

Grammy-winning artist Beyoncé is back on her first solo tour since 2016. Tickets are still on sale for those who wish to see Beyoncé perform in her celebrated Renaissance World Tour through October 2023. Stick with us, and we'll show you the best options for where to buy Beyoncé tickets today.

The 2023 Renaissance World Tour kicked off with an international leg in Sweden on May 10, 2023. Beyoncé then traveled across ten European countries before arriving in North America on July 8. The tour's United States and Canada leg will continue through October 1 as the musician plays 13 more shows in nine cities.

Supporting her 2022 album "Renaissance," the concert setlists have included Beyoncé playing each track from her seventh studio album. The Renaissance World Tour also includes "Queen Bey" playing various hits from her larger discography, such as "Formation," "Love on Top," and "Crazy in Love."

If you're aiming to buy tickets for the final performances of Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour, we've got you covered. Here's our breakdown of Beyoncé's remaining tour schedule, purchasing details, and resale and original ticket prices. Or you can browse through the available tickets left through StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Beyoncé 2023 Renaissance tour schedule

The Renaissance World Tour still has 11 concert dates across eight cities, including three shows in Inglewood, California. In addition to one stop in Vancouver, Canada, the remaining shows will be held in the United States. Tickets are the most expensive in Beyoncé's hometown of Houston, Texas. All concert times are listed in local time zones. We've linked to the ticket site with the cheapest deals (at the time of writing) in the 'Prices from' column.

Where to buy tickets for Beyoncé 2023 Renaissance tour

You can purchase original tickets to Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour through Ticketmaster , although only a select number remain for each 2023 date and location. However, the tickets still available on Ticketmaster are typically more expensive than those found on verified resale platforms such as StubHub and Vivid Seats .

The prices for standard tickets to Beyoncé's concerts from StubHub start at approximately $102 on the lower end to nearly $400, depending on the venue. Vivid Seats offers similar price ranges for standard Renaissance World Tour tickets, ranging from about $100 in Las Vegas to $375 in Houston. When considering VIP packages, the cost increases significantly on each purchasing platform.

How much are Beyoncé tickets?

The prices for original Beyoncé concert tickets have risen considerably since the end of the initial Verified Fan Sale through Ticketmaster. Additionally, the cost of an original ticket varies depending on the demand for a particular location and date.

For instance, the cheapest price on Ticketmaster for a standard original ticket to the 2023 Renaissance World Tour is $91.83 for her Las Vegas, Nevada show on August 27. However, there are very few standard original tickets remaining for Beyoncé's concerts, so you may have better luck with verified resales.

Meanwhile, some original VIP packages, such as the Pure/Honey on Stage Risers, cost well over $3,000. At Beyoncé's August 30 performance in Santa Clara, the original VIP package costs $3,601. On the less expensive side, original Beyhive VIP Package prices are $1,401 in Seattle. Here's a breakdown of the various Beyoncé VIP packages from Ticketmaster's website .

Original prices typically come in much higher than resale prices for Beyoncé concerts. Many of the cheaper tickets are verified resales for nearer tour dates, suggesting you might find the best prices when it gets closer to the concert date.

Who is opening for Beyoncé's tour?

Beyoncé's world tour does not include any opening acts from other artists. Once the showtime begins for each concert date, it will be the Queen Bey herself who comes onstage.

There are no traditional opening acts for the 2023 Renaissance World Tour because Beyoncé is technically the opener to her own concerts. The time typically reserved for other artists at the start of the concert instead sees Beyoncé sing R&B ballads from her early discography, beginning with her Destiny's Child-era 2000 song "Dangerously in Love 2."

Approximately four songs are played in Beyoncé's "Opening Act" before moving into her "Renaissance" tracks. The concert is approximately two and a half hours long with 31 songs on the setlist, so Beyoncé's tour has more than enough hit music to fill the night.

Since Beyoncé opened with the international leg of her ninth solo tour, the music sensation will take her final bow of the concert series on October 1 in Kansas City, Missouri. While the remaining concert dates are primarily in the United States, there will be one last international show in Vancouver, Canada, on September 11, 2023.

It's Queen Bey: Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' Tour Movie Hits Theaters With 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score

Posted: March 27, 2024 | Last updated: March 27, 2024

<p>“I’m really excited for everyone to see the process,” she expressed in the film.</p>

In her concert film, Beyoncé described her recent Renaissance World Tour as being run like a machine, where she played a hands-on role in every production aspect, from lighting to set design. This superstar singer’s dedication to excellence drove her to work tirelessly for nearly 50 consecutive days, all in pursuit of crafting an extraordinary concert experience. These insights are vividly captured in her film, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” a project for which she assumed the roles of writer, director, and producer.

Unlike her past decade of privacy and rare interviews, this film offers a unique peek into Beyoncé’s world. She released the nearly three-hour “Renaissance” movie through AMC Theaters, following a similar approach to Taylor Swift’s recent concert film success. However, Beyoncé diverged by delving deeper into her personal life, providing viewers with a more intimate understanding of her journey.

“I’m really excited for everyone to see the process,” she expressed in the film.

<p>Beyoncé opens up about the challenges she faced in striving to achieve her ambitious tour goals and her feelings of not being heard, partly due to her identity as a Black woman. Beyoncé opens up about the challenges she faced in striving to achieve her ambitious tour goals and her feelings of not being heard, partly due to her identity as a Black woman. Despite the obstacles, the tour ultimately grossed around $500 million, according to Billboard. She candidly discusses her knee surgery, which necessitated rehabilitation just a month before her first show in Stockholm.

Yet, Beyoncé emphasizes that she’s “not a machine.” Despite her physical and emotional challenges, she not only showed up but performed at an exceptionally high level, a standard she expected of herself and those who shared her commitment to making each show a success.

Thomas acknowledges more travel paid for by harlan crow. colleagues report six-figure book payments.

Mark Sherman And Lindsay Whitehurst

Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday belatedly acknowledged more travel paid by Republican megadonor Harlan Crow, while several colleagues reported six-figure payments as part of book deals.

Thomas, who has faced criticism for failing to report luxury trips paid for by Crow and others over many years, said in his annual financial disclosure that, in 2019, Crow paid for a hotel room in Bali, Indonesia, for a single night, and food and lodging at a private club in Sonoma County, California. He did not report any travel paid by others last year.

Recommended Videos

The disclosure on Indonesia is curious for what it omits: the rest of the trip. ProPublica reported last year that Thomas flew to Indonesia on Crow’s private jet and then boarded his superyacht for an islands tour, one of many trips Crow has given to Thomas and his wife, Ginni, over the years.

Another justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson , reported eye-popping numbers, a nearly $900,000 advance for her upcoming memoir, and attention-grabbing gifts, four tickets to a Beyoncé concert valued at $3,700 from the singer herself.

Jackson was one of four Supreme Court justices who reported sizable income from book deals. Justice Brett Kavanaugh reported being paid $340,000 by the conservative Regnery Publishing company. The company was sold and the book is to be published by an imprint at Hachette Book Group, according to Axios, which also reported this week that Kavanaugh's book will deal with his contentious confirmation hearing that included allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied. The court confirmed Friday that the justice is writing a legal memoir.

Justices Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor reported royalty income of $250,000 and nearly $90,000, respectively.

In their day jobs, the justices are being paid $298,500 this year, except for Chief Justice John Roberts, who earns $312,200.

The only justice whose report was not available Friday is Samuel Alito, who received an extension for up to 90 days, as he does most years. The justice has separately been under scrutiny over flags that flew outside homes he owned. He has said they were raised by his wife.

Jackson, the first Black woman on the nation's highest court, signed a book contract soon after taking her seat in 2022. The book, “Lovely One,” is to be published in September.

The total value of her book deal has not been publicly disclosed, but it is expected to rival if not exceed what Sotomayor was paid for her memoir, “My Beloved World,” more than $3 million.

Among the current justices, only Roberts, Alito and Justice Elena Kagan have so far not cut book deals. Thomas received a $1.5 million advance, stunning at the time, for his 2007 book, “My Grandfather's Son.” Justice Amy Coney Barrett in 2022 reported receiving $425,000 for a yet-to-be-released book, part of a reported $2 million deal she signed soon after joining the court in 2020.

The disclosures paint a partial picture of the justices' finances, as they are not required to reveal the value of their homes or, for those who are married, their spouses' salary.

The justices adopted an ethics code in November, though it lacks a means of enforcement. The code treats travel, food and lodging as expenses rather than gifts, for which monetary values must be reported. Justices aren't required to attach a value to expenses.

In March, the federal judiciary began requiring judges to disclose travel-related gifts and their values — rather than reporting such gifts as reimbursements. The justices say they generally abide by the same rules, but Thomas did not disclose the cost of the Bali hotel.

Some Democratic lawmakers are continuing to press legislation that would require the court to adopt a binding code of conduct and provide for investigations of alleged violations. But the prospect for such legislation is considered remote in a closely divided Congress.

Only two justices reported receiving gifts last year. Thomas said he was given two photo albums worth $2,000 by Terrence Giroux and his wife. Giroux is the executive director emeritus of the Horatio Alger Association.

Jackson received artwork for her Supreme Court office worth $12,500. And then there were the Beyoncé tickets, worth more than $900 a pop. Beyoncé performed two concerts in the Washington area in August 2023, though Jackson's disclosure does not say when or where the tickets were for.

“Justice Jackson is Crazy in Love with Beyonce’s music,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said, invoking a Beyoncé song. “Who isn’t?”

Dolly Parton and Beyoncé

Beyoncé surprised listeners with a reworking of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene” for her latest album “Cowboy Carter,” and the cover impressed no one more than Dolly herself.

“Well, I think that was very bold of her,” Parton told E! News . “When they said she was gonna do ‘Jolene,’ I expected it to be my regular one, but it wasn’t. But I love what she did to it. And as a songwriter, you love the fact that people do your songs no matter how they do them.”

Parton says that she was in communication with Beyoncé around the release of “Cowboy Carter” in late March, and that they sent each other “flowers and little love notes and all that.”

As for “Cowboy Carter” as a whole, Parton exclaims that she’s “very proud of [Beyoncé’s] album. I thought she did a great job in country music, and I thought it was great. And I was just so happy she did ‘Jolene.’ I, of course, would have loved to have heard how she would have done it in its original way, but of course, you know, it’s Beyoncé. Yeah, her life is different than mine.”

So would she duet with Beyoncé on a cover of “Jolene,” perhaps at the Grammy Awards? “Why of course I would — if I’m available, if I’m not caught up in something I cannot get out of, yeah, that’d be wonderful. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna sing ‘Jolene’ with Beyoncé?”

“Cowboy Carter” arrived a few months back, featuring guest appearances from Willie Nelson, Shaboozey, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus and more. In addition to Beyoncé’s cover of “Jolene,” Parton makes several other cameos on the album, including the interlude “Dolly P” and a spoken word moment on “Tyrant.”

Beyoncé gave concert tickets to Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson: Financial disclosure

CNNWire logo

Beyoncé gave Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson four tickets to her concert last year, the justice disclosed in financial disclosure forms published Friday that also revealed that Jackson and other justices received six-figure payments in 2023 for book deals.

Jackson, who reported an eye-popping $893,750 payment from a book publisher, was joined by Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor in reporting income from books that they have published or have coming out in the future.

The book deals have at times been controversial. Supreme Court justices and other government officials are capped on receiving more than about $30,000 in outside income, but book income doesn't count toward that cap.

Jackson, a member of the court's liberal wing, was paid by Penguin Random House, the book publisher that is publishing her upcoming memoir.

Kavanaugh, a conservative who recently disclosed he is writing a memoir, listed a $340,000 payment from the Javelin Group agency.

Gorsuch, who is also publishing a book this year, reported royalty income of $250,000.

Book deals are typically paid in installments, so the full financial windfall justices receive from their books will not be known for several more years.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett in 2022 reported receiving a $425,000 advance on her book, a figure that drew some criticism. In this most recent report, however, she didn't list any additional income from that deal.

Sotomayor, who has written a series of children's books, reported receiving two installments of royalty payments from Random House - a $47,704.63 payment in May 2023, and a $39,079.59 payment in December.

Gifts and travel revealed on disclosures

Jackson reported the Beyoncé concert tickets - worth a total $3,711.84 - as part of a disclosure mandate for gifts worth $480 or more.

The artist Lonnie Holley, meanwhile, gifted Jackson artwork for her chambers valued at $10,000. The justice also received artwork worth $2,5000 from Dr. Kathi Earles-Ross and others.

Justice Clarence Thomas said he received two photo albums worth a total $2,000 from Terrence and Barbara Giroux. Terrence Giroux is the executive director emeritus of the Horatio Alger Association, an elite philanthropic organization of which Thomas is a member.

The annual disclosures, which are required by law, provide only a rough sketch of the finances of the justices and lower court judges. But the reports have drawn considerable attention in recent years amid a series of ethics scandals involving private jet travel and luxury vacations accepted by some of the justices.

Several justices reported foreign and domestic travel paid for by law schools and outside legal groups. Gorsuch, for instance, reported traveling to Lisbon, Portugal, last summer with George Mason University for an "education program" and to London months earlier for a Federalist Society program. Kavanaugh and Barrett also both traveled to London last year, both with the University of Notre Dame.

Others listed domestic trips, including Justice Elena Kagan, who was reimbursed for travel to Notre Dame in Indiana for a speech in September. Sotomayor was reimbursed for a trip to Los Angeles last summer for an award ceremony and to Harvard University in November to sit on a moot court.

The new disclosures also revealed income justices received from various side gigs.Multiple justices received income for teaching and for rental properties, while Sotomayor was paid for a voice-acting role on an animated show.

Gorsuch received $29,798.20 last year for teaching at George Mason University, while Kavanaugh's gig teaching at Notre Dame Law school brought him $25,000.

Barrett was paid $14,947.50 last year by Notre Dame, where she is an adjunct professor. That is significantly less than the nearly $30,000 in 2022 teaching income from Notre Dame that she reported on her annual disclosures last year.

For a voice performance on the animated television show "Alma's Way," Sotomayor received $1,879.16.

Sotomayor also reported rental income from a property in New York and a property in Florida, while Chief Justice John Roberts disclosed rental income from a cottage in Maineand from a cottage he partially owns in Ireland. Thomas listed rental income received through an LLC called "Ginger Holdings" for a property in Nebraska, his wife's home state.

Kagan, meanwhile, said she made somewhere between $15,001 to $50,000 last year renting out a parking space in Washington, DC.
