Over the past 50 years, Cabernet Sauvignon has spread to all of the New World's major winegrowing regions, and it remains one of France's most important grapes.

Chateau Tour Chapoux Sauvignon Blanc

It is often overlooked that, as a Bordelais grape, Bordeaux is an excellent source of Sauvignon Blanc in any of its guises. This is a wine that keeps freshness and balance at its heart and makes some of the more modern sauvignon blancs from the new world look overblown in comparison.

The generous apple, peach and orange peelfruit benefits from a whiff of lemon balm and palate takes on a green applecrunch. It is a dry, crisp and zesty white wine that has plenty of fruit on offer. It is a good everyday quaffer. Serve it with some fresh seafood, some grilled fish or soft white cheese like ripened brie and you will see smiles all round.

Pretty decent, inexpensive Bordeaux blend. Earthy on the nose, with a smooth finish. Would match well with any rustic fare, perfectly acceptabel weekday drinker.

Delivered as part of Zagat wine club package. Had with a steak and I think this wine could stand at least 5-7 years in the cellar. It's like many decent bordeaux's I've bought and drank way too young... there's potential and an underlying complexity in the glass, but the tannins and acidity haven't come anywhere close to maturing and smoothing out. I hear the 2009 and 2010 vintages throughout the entire region are supposed to be outstanding.

Fantastic value red. Aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry and sawdust from the oak. Dry finish of dark cherry and slightly bitter chocolate.
