Cruise Control retrofit

  • Add to quote

Hi all, Ive owned my 2012 207 for a year, starting to look at ways to personalise it and stumbled across being able to retrofit cruise control, quick google and so much stuff comes up regarding re-wiring,re-programming ECU etc and I am a bit bamboozled tbh, Anybody done it ? is it possible? does it have to be done by Peugeot ? any help appreciated!

Hi, I have retrofitted cruise control on 2 cars now, my own 206 - 56 plate and my dads 207sw 08 plate. In both cases for me it was pretty simple. I bought the physical stalk off eBay £20 (or so). There are two types: With speed limiter (needs additional brake wire going from brake pedal to ECU - can be retrofitted but quite complicated). This option seems to have a lower success rate. Without speed limiter - this is the option that I picked both times as my 206 didn’t have the correct physical brake pedal switch and I didn’t want to mess around with it. I didn’t check my dads 207sw for the switch, I just went with the non-limiter option to keep things simpler. To activate the cruise control it needs to be turned on in the engines ecu and then bsi. To do this you need a diagnostics box (usually around £40 off eBay) along with a laptop which can run windows xp. On that laptop you can install a piece of software called PP2000 or diagbox and that will enable you to connect to the car and enable the cruise control. There’s a map of the UK on here somewhere that shows people on the forum who have PP2000 / diagbox installed on a laptop that may be able to help you. As this can be expansive (£40) to buy for a single use and quite complicated to install. I know some of the older models of Peugeot’s they’ve had issues activating the cruise control in the ECU / BSI but I think the 207 has a good track record in terms of success rates. My advice would be to buy the stalk. Then check the PP2000 map of the UK. See if there’s someone close to you who can possibly help. If you find that you can activate it successfully in the BSI and ECU then you are good to go! If it works you would finally have to cut a piece out of the plastic steering wheel surround for the stalk. My dad used a hack saw and then filed it off - did a pretty tidy job. Worst comes to worst it doesn’t work you stick the stalk back on eBay and it should sell fairly quickly as the same stalk works for a bunch of Peugeot’s. I live in Ware, Hertfordshire and my parents live in North Wales (who I visit every few weeks) so if you are ever around that way I’d be happy to help. Ben

I've just done this job on mine and I just love it! It took me a little while to work out the "with" or "without" speed-limiter. If you look around the web you will see two versions of the stalk - one with a two-position rotary switch and one with a three-position rotary switch. The two-position version is just cruise ON or OFF and the three-position one is used for selecting speed limiter also. So I advise only buying the TWO-POSITION version of the stalk which are actually more rare to find. I paid £30 for mine off Fleabay. The instructions mutter about the option only being offered on build dates after September 2008. This will only be an issue if you are activating the cruise control feature using the later Digi-Box software. If you use the earlier Peugeot Planet 2000 software to activate it then it doesn't ask you for the build number and you don't need to enter it! The cruise option is activated in two modules in the car - in the BSI and in the Engine ECU. Make sure there are no outstanding faults logged or it won't let you activate it. You also need to be handy with a hacksaw to cut out an aperture in the plastic surround around the steering wheel. Dimensions are towards the end of the instructions. Full instructions can be downloaded here: http://www.equinoxstudios.co.uk/downloads/peugeot/1609764580indB.pdf

Read first thread in post.

Strange that brake light switch to effect cruise control..

I'm guessing it assumes you're braking. So kicks the CC off. Exactly the same in the 407, I had them fail in both of mine. No cruise and permanently lit brake lights. On the 407 it's mounted on the brake bar (because r/h drive) under the passenger side of the dash. Great fun.

After 10 -20 km the cruise control was miraculously working fine . I could not understand why! One day I started to play with the left foot and lift the brake and the clutch pedal and I found out that the cruise control was starting to work fine. After some test, I found out that in the morning the clutch pedal was not lifting completely and in that position, the cruise control was not working. Just a little help lifting the clutch pedal with the left foot, just a cm, and this was solving the problem! After this first help, it was not necessary to do this anymore. Click to expand...

207 intermittent Cruise Control related to engine management issue

  • Thread starter BarryC
  • Start date Jul 7, 2014
  • Jul 7, 2014

The cruise control on my 2010 1.6 Petrol auto 207 has had some intermittent failing where it can not be set. The horizontal bars where the speed digits appear flash when the cruise control is turned on and no speed can be set. The manual says "see your Peugeot dealer........" when this happens. I rang the dealership and eventually got an answer that is worth remembering - The cruise control and the engine management systems work together and if a concern is detected with the engine computer or sensors it cuts the cruise control as a safety measure, so the cruise control problem may be caused by an underlying issue being detected by the engine’s computer. The problem has not disappeared. Works sometimes, doesn't work other times. Can"t seem to determine a factor that makes it behave one way or the other. Car appears to go well otherwise. No other issues. I've decided to leave the issue until my next service. We shall see.

Psychlone

I've had the same issue with my 307. Narrowed it down to misbehaving sensors on the wheels, or a bad brake switch. Now I have another theory. On a recent rather long (3000k +) road trip, I went to a Peugeot dealer in Brisbane who sold me a new switch, (my idea to try to fix it) but the parts guy suggested also replacing the short wiring loom between the switch and the main car loom. He said that bad wiring had been done on some of these (they're only about 30cm long) and it was causing a bad connection to the brake switch, thereby causing the cruise control to fail. I didn't buy it at the time because they wanted a ridiculous $230+ dollars for the loom and switch. I only replaced the switch, which lasted about 500km before I lost cruise control again. Now I have to find a cheaper source for a known good wiring loom, or maybe I'll try fixing it myself.

Morpheus

Yeah the 307 problem was the dodgy loom. I paid the money and had mine replaced. No more problems. Don't know if it's a similar issue on the 207 but I doubt it. More than likely your brake light switch on your brake pedal has been kicked off or needs adjusting. Check to see if you brake lights are on all the time. This causes the problem.

Cruise control not working....

  • Add to quote

My wife's just bought a '66 plate 208 1.2 petrol.! It's a nice car & we're both happy with it.......BUT; We had the first run-out in it & went to Scotland a couple of weeks ago & though the screen displays properly for the Cruise-control & the speed limiter, neither of them actually work.!!! There's nothing else untoward with the car & I never thought to check it on the test drive, so I'm stuck with it..!!! Has anyone got any ideas why it's not working & what I might do to get it working again.??? (I imagine that it's not going to be a fuse as the dashboard is responding to the commands clicked on the stalk..... it's just that the engine is paying no attention to the dashboard display.!!!!) (it occurs to me whilst writing this, that maybe Mr & Mrs Peugeot might offer counselling for different vehicle management systems, which are just refusing to co-operate with eachother.???) Thanks.

Just to clarify, I'm not expecting someone to necessarily diagnose it for me (though that would be nice.!) It's more that we've not had the car long, so I'm unfamilliar with it & it's systems, so if anyone can give me pointers as to what it MIGHT be & how I should go about checking through what it might be it would be a BIG help.! Cheers

Had this it was the brake pedal switch also caused the brake lights to stay on sometimes and also not work would recommend changing it

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

cruise control peugeot 207 problemen

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
