How much will it cost to see eagles play chiefs in super bowl 57.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Going to see the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Super Bowl 57 could get pricey.

"We've been talking to fans for the last 24 hours, non-stop phone calls, emails," said Vincent Rizzuto, president of the travel company Philly Sports Trips.

"The biggest package is your full package that's going to cost about $3,400 a person -- that includes your flight, your hotel, transportation, and two parties. So that's about $6,800 a couple. It does not include the game tickets," added Rizzuto.

Gary Zimmer and Lisa Cain from Bryn Mawr decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of watching the Eagles in the Super Bowl live and in person.

eagles super bowl travel

"It's going to be a little over $20,000," said Gary Zimmer. "A few months ago we got engaged, and we were on a wonderful vacation together ... she said to me, 'You know, if the Eagles make it to the Super Bowl, we can have our honeymoon in Arizona, and go as our honeymoon.' I immediately said 'yes.'"

"I'm as die-hard as they come. I mean for the first few months that we were dating I wouldn't even let him watch a game with me because I get so crazy," said Lisa Cain.

They are making the trip to Arizona with the group Phans of Philly.

"When Brock Purdy got knocked out of the game yesterday, I started seeing a ton of emails from confident Eagles fans looking to book already," said Joe DiBiaggio, owner Phans of Philly.

Dana Rex, of Palmyra, NJ, says she will be cheering on her team from afar.

"No, we're not going to make it there, but definitely will be watching it," she said.

And if you want to purchase your package with the Eagles, they will direct you to "On Location", the official hospitality partner of the NFL.

A package complete with game day tickets, an exclusive pregame party and tailgate experience starts at $4,973 per person.

Packages including air travel and hotel start at $10,000 per person.

According to Gametime, the top-priced tickets are going for $33,042 each.

"This is going to be one of those expensive, perhaps once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Phoenix is a lot farther than Minnesota was," said AAA spokesperson Jana Tidwell.

According to StubHub, the average price of tickets sold is more than $7,500, and Eagles fans are leading when it comes to ticket sales, making up 20% of sales.

Michael Diaz, of The Green Legion, helps put together trips for Eagles fans during the season.

"I woke up this morning and there were 20-30 DMs through Instagram and Facebook," he said.

eagles super bowl travel

"Our full travel package, really everything is included, is somewhere between the likes of $6,000 a person without game tickets, and somewhere around $12,000 with game tickets," said Diaz.

And one of the Green Legion trips for two people worth $22,000 could be yours for $100 thanks to a raffle held by The Elpis Foundation .

"All proceeds from the raffle will go towards Penn Abramson Cancer Center in support of lung cancer research," said the foundation's founder, Patrick McNichol.

Flights to Phoenix from Philadelphia range from $500 to over $1,000, depending on the airline, day, and time of travel.

Tidwell's advice is to book now.

And if you're trying to get to Arizona --be aware of travel scams.

"If it looks too good to be true, sounds too good to be true, chances are it is too good to be true," said Tidwell.

And keep in mind, the PGA's Waste Management Phoenix Open is in Scottsdale the same weekend. Hotels are already four to five times their usual nightly rates.

The Philadelphia Eagles and On Location, the Official Hospitality Partner of the NFL, announced the sale of official 2023 Super Bowl tickets and hospitality packages following Sunday’s big NFC championship win of 31-7 over the San Francisco 49ers.

If you can’t wait to cheer on the Birds at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and want to embrace everything Super Bowl weekend has to offer, the official fan packages are available online and include multinight stay options, one-day trips, game day perks and more.

The Eagles Fan Hospitality option includes an official game ticket and a pregame experience, including open-air pregame hospitality, an open bar and elevated tailgate fare, live entertainment and interactive games, according to the promotion.

Currently, the cheapest available ticket option for this package sells for $4,973.50 for section 453, row 15. The most expensive ticket available is for section 108, row 2, and sells for $29,751.

The Eagles Fan Travel option includes an official game ticket, deluxe hotel accommodations, airfare from the Philadelphia International Airport and an official pregame party, according to press materials.

Depending on whether you plan to fly to the Super Bowl or drive, air-inclusive and land-only travel packages are available.

The air-inclusive travel packages can include roundtrip game day transportation, concierge guest services, a welcome lounge, a 2023 Super Bowl gifting experience and roundtrip airport transportation in Phoenix.

The cheapest package is for a one-day experience on Feb. 12 that includes a day-of departure and return, roundtrip deluxe game day transportation, concierge guest services and roundtrip nonstop airfare from Philadelphia to Phoenix. This option sells for $8,445.

The most expensive package sells for $10,310 and includes a three-night stay from Feb. 10 to Feb. 13 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, official Eagles pregame hospitality, roundtrip game day transportation, a 2023 Super Bowl gifting experience, a welcome lounge, concierge guest services, roundtrip airport transportation in Phoenix and an official Eagles Takeover Experience.

The land-only travel packages include similar perks. The cheapest option sells for $8,145 and features a three-night stay from Feb. 10 to Feb. 13 at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort. The most expensive option features a three-night stay at the Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes and costs $9,590.

Ticket upgrades are available for each travel package. Prices will vary depending on which seats you choose.

For those of you who can’t get enough of a good tailgate but don’t want to shell out the money for a 2023 Super Bowl ticket, ticketless packages are available, too.

Similar to the ticketed experiences, airfare and/or land transportation are provided, along with concierge guest services, a 2023 Super Bowl gifting experience, a welcome lounge and hotel accommodations.

The cheapest ticketless package starts at $2,180. The most expensive package starts at $4,370.

The Eagles haven’t been to the Super Bowl since their first appearance in 2018 when they claimed the title of Super Bowl LII champions, so demand is likely to be high for all of these options.

Where are the Philadelphia Eagles staying in Phoenix?

The Eagles are staying at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, 5594 W. Wild Horse Pass Blvd. The resort is on the Gila River Indian Reservation just south of Phoenix.

The design of the hotel reflects the history and culture of the Pima (Akimel O'otham) and Maricopa (Pee Posh) tribes. The menu at the award-winning Kai restaurant changes frequently and incorporated Indigenous and traditional ingredients such as bison and scarlet runner beans.

The resort includes four pools, golf, tennis and an equestrian center, plus kayaking, paddleboarding and boat rides on a 2.5-mile river.

The Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is 35 miles from State Farm Stadium, 21 miles from downtown Phoenix and 21 miles to Old Town Scottsdale.

PHOENIX (AP) — A few minutes after the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes landed in Phoenix, the pilot hung a “Chiefs Kingdom” flag out of the window as players, coaches and staff got off the plane and walked across the runway.

About an hour later, it was the Philadelphia Eagles who arrived in Arizona, with an “It’s a Philly Thing” flag fluttering in the runway as quarterback Jalen Hurts, coach Nick Sirianni and others made their way to a fleet of buses.

Super Bowl 57 is just one week away.

The Chiefs will face the Eagles on Feb. 12 in Glendale, Arizona.

Both teams landed at Goldwater Air National Guard Base in ideal Phoenix winter weather — bright sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s. Team personnel occasionally stopped to take pictures and videos on the runway.

Former Chiefs star Christian Okoye was on hand to pass out hats to Kansas City’s players as they got off the plane. The former star running back lives in Southern California and made the short trip to Phoenix.

“They called me and wanted me to come over here and welcome the team,” Okoye said. “So I said ‘Yes, of course’ — my team’s over here getting ready to win the Super Bowl.”

Oddsmakers are expecting a good game, though they disagree with Okoye and are giving the Eagles a slight edge. Philadelphia opened as a 1 1/2-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook .

The Chiefs advanced to their third Super Bowl in four seasons when Harrison Butker made a 45-yard field goal with 3 seconds left to push Kansas City past the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in the AFC championship game last weekend.

The Eagles routed the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC title game. They’ve looked dominant in the playoffs so far, also beating the New York Giants 38-7 in the divisional round.

Philadelphia is back in the Super Bowl five years after beating the New England Patriots 41-33.

Now a mostly new generation of Eagles — led by Hurts and Sirianni — will come to Arizona to try and win another title.

The teams will both take part in the “Super Bowl LVII Opening Night” on Monday in downtown Phoenix, where all the players and coaches from both teams are available for the annual media extravaganza.

Then it’s down to business. The Chiefs will practice throughout the week at Arizona State’s football facilities while the Eagles will do their preparation at the Arizona Cardinals’ practice facility.

There are no shortage of storylines: Kansas City coach Andy Reid goes against his former team — which he led to Super Bowl 39 — in a game that’s also the first matchup of Black starting quarterbacks in the Super Bowl with Mahomes and Hurts.

There’s also a brother-against-brother showdown between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia center Jason Kelce.

How to fly like an Eagle to the Super Bowl

eagles super bowl travel

PHILADELPHIA –  Football fans who plan to fly to Phoenix to cheer on the Eagles can fly like winners if they follow a few travel tips before their flight to the big game and then fly home with their stash of Super Bowl souvenirs.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials expect travel out of Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to see a lot of jersey-clad football fans sporting their green this week as they head west for Super Bowl LVII, ready to do their part to cheer the Eagles onto victory.

“Travelers can expect to see phfull phflights headed to Phoenix and phfull phfestive phflights as phfans return to Philadelphia next Monday after the big game,” said Gerardo Spero, TSA’s Federal Security Director for Philadelphia International Airport “TSA is ready and prepared for the Philadelphia fans and we encourage them to be prepared to arrive at the airport early and pack some patience along with their Eagles gear.”

TSA encourages travelers to get to the airport two hours before their scheduled flight and be ready to go through the security screening process.

Super Bowl LVII souvenir game programs should be packed in a carry-on bag.

“Travelers can do their part in ensuring a smooth checkpoint experience by knowing what items should and should not be packed in a carry-on bag,” Spero said.

Passengers often travel with their favorite local food items and it’s important to know which foods should be packed in a carry-on or checked bag. Want to bring along a few Tastykakes in your carry-on bag? Perhaps some Krimpets? Go right ahead. Want to bring along a few of Philly soft pretzels for your flight? Feel free to do so. How about that Geno’s or Pat’s cheesesteak hoagie? Sure, bring it on! Perhaps you want to tote along a few packs of Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews for the game? Absolutely!

As always, passengers can bring solid foods with them, however if you can spill it, spray it, spread it, pump it or pour it, then it's not a solid and should be packed in a checked bag.

“Travelers can bring their Philly favorites such as soft pretzels, Tastykakes, cheesesteaks, hoagies and peanut chews through our checkpoints because they are all solids. But items like our famous cannolis and Hank’s root beer are considered liquids or spreadables and should be packed in a checked bag or downed before you get to the checkpoint,” Spero said.

As for the celebratory champain, Spero recommends packing the bubbly in a checked bag.

When returning home after the big game, fans should pack their game programs in their carry-on bags. Other souvenirs such as hats, helmets, footballs, pennants, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, plastic cups and rally flags may be packed in a carry-on or checked bag. Empty metal beer cans with the Super Bowl logo that will be sold inside the stadium can be packed in checked or carry-on bags. If fans want to bring home their souvenir beer cans with beer in them, those need to be packed in a checked bag.

Unsure if an item should be packed in a carry-on bag, checked bag, either or neither? Download the free myTSA app , which has a handy “What can I bring?” feature that allows you to type in the item to find out if it can fly. Or ask on Twitter or Facebook Messenger at @AskTSA . Travelers may send a question by texting “Travel” to AskTSA (275-872).

TSA officials also recommends that travelers take the time to visit the TSA web site , which has a lot of helpful information on preparing for a flight and letting individuals know what to expect.

As for the outcome of the game, Spero says that the Eagles will soar: “Fly, Eagles, fly!”

A Super Bowl logo

If you waited until the last quarter to book your Super Bowl travel plans, here is your playbook for the home stretch.

Now we know for certain that the two teams battling it out on Feb. 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona will be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Be you a fan of the midwest or the east coast, now the task at hand is getting to the wild west in time for the big game , only two Sunday’s away from right now.

There are many factors involved here, should you want to head over to the game in real life, opting for a front row seat in the stadium as opposed to in front of the flatscreen .

The first step is the tickets, which we broke down here in great detail . Then, gear up to book airline tickets or a car rental depending on your location, as well as a hotel stay and party plans for after the game when celebrations break out all over the U.S. — nay, the world.

When and where is the 2023 Super Bowl?

What to know about Super Bowl 2023 parties

A super bowl logo

The exact location of Super Bowl LVII is at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. However, the nearest airport is the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is the best bet for any flights coming from other states, which is 20 minutes outside the stadium. You can also opt for the smaller Glendale Municipal Airport, which is only 15 minutes away, however flights may be more expensive in and out of there.

After arriving in Arizona, now on Mountain Time (MST) the gates to the stadium open at 12:30 p.m. (MST) on Feb. 12, and kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. Since we know there will be traffic in and around the area, it is advised to show up on the earlier side to avoid any added stress.

A super bowl seating chart

Since the game is only a few weeks away, ticket prices aren’t too cheap. However, for this once-in-a-lifetime for many opportunity, we did track down tickets that are still available to purchase now if you act fast.

Head to Vivid Seats and score tickets in a number of sections at the State Farm Stadium, as pictured in the image above. Prices currently start at $4,700 at the time of publication, but can skyrocket at any moment, so the time to buy is now.

Phoenix, Arizona, USA Downtown Skyline Aerial.

Okay you scored your tickets: now we need to *touchdown* in Glendale, Arizona.

Pardon the pun, as booking a last-minute flight is no laughing matter. From Philadelphia to Phoenix, an average flight over the weekend of Feb. 10 through the 13th is looking to start at around $350 and can jump up to over $1,000 when looking for shorter layovers, according to Google Flights.

That same trip but from Kansas City is looking to be a little bit less, starting around $250 and then jumping ip to around $800 and higher for non-stop flights.

All hope isn’t lost, though, as the below airlines and booking sites still have seats available, and lucky fans may find discounts depending on their origin city.

Book on United Airlines : Browse United’s offerings, with flights into Phoenix for as low as $90.

Book on Southwest Airlines: Head to the south west via Southwest Airlines for direct flights from many U.S. destinations.

Start your party off right when you land in Arizona with a hotel fit for a superstar — or at least a super fan. We tracked down the best places to book in the area, keeping in mind the distance from the stadium, quality, price and availability at time of publication.

VRBO Rentals: This is a great option for flexibility and larger groups, with many properties available and in close proximity to the stadium.

TripAdvisor: Use this site to sort by distance to the stadium, as well as other features like included shuttle busses, free breakfast and more.

Marriott Hotels: For those with Marriott rewards or just enjoy the comfort of a stunning Marriott property, opt for one of the hospitality company’s Arizona properties that still have flexible bookings in February.

If you are lucky enough to live close enough to Glendale to drive, or if you need a car upon arrival to the Phoenix airport, this section is for you. There are plenty of car rental companies to choose from, but we suggest booking in advance for the best prices and car availability.

AVIS : Book with AVIS for car rentals in and near Glendale, with options at the Phoenix airport, central Phoenix, Tempe and more.

Expedia: Search by car type at Expedia, narrowing down the results by destination and pick-up and drop-off times as needed.

Philadelphia Eagles Travel Package

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. Their inaugural season was way back in 1933, but somewhat ironically,it took them 85 years to secure their first Super Bowl. The dirty birds truly found their stride when Andy Reid was named head coach in 1999. His stint with the Eagles lasted all of 14 seasons, the longest in NFL history. Playing out of downtown Philadelphia allows home games to be easily accessible for hometowns fans, which only adds to their reputation of having some of the most high-energy partisans in the NFL. With BookSeats.com, fans can either come into Philly to catch a game, or travel with the team on the road and support them when they battle at an away stadium.

Philadelphia Eagles FAQ

Where do the philadelphia eagles play out of.

The Eagles’ home stadium is Lincoln Financial Field, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is named after the Lincoln Financial Group, an organization that secured the stadium’s naming right for 21 years in 2002. As for the atmosphere, it’s no secret that Philly fans are some of the most unpredictable and wild in the NFL, so it’s unsurprising that the stadium was built to include a small, four-cell jail inside! Luckily for fans, after two years the jail was removed as their collective behavior improved.

How many people can the Lincoln Financial Field hold?

The Lincoln Financial Group Stadium can house 69,176 people. Known to locals as “the Linc,” it’s also home to other notable events such as Temple University Owls football home games and the annual Army-Navy showdown, where capacity can be adjusted.

Why are they called the Philadelphia Eagles?

Way back in 1933, the Frankford Yellowjackets went bankrupt and were purchased by Bert Bell. His ownership team named the team the Eagles, as it paid respect to the symbol of the Great Depression’s National Recovery Act, the eagle.

Where should I stay when in town for an Eagles game?

Luckily for fans, Lincoln Financial Field is only a 13-minute drive from the city center. Staying in downtown Philadelphia allows fans to stay and enjoy the sights and experiences the city has to offer, while only being a short distance from the stadium. With BookSeats.com having the ability to offer fans complete customization, any trip is possible - whether it’s a short in and out stay to catch a game, or a prolonged visit in which you really digest the city. The decision is totally up to you. Booking flights, hotels and tickets in one place helps remove stress and allows you to focus on what really matters most – your Philadelphia Eagles trip!

Houston Texans News

Three surprise cut candidates who can help the Houston Texans get to the Super Bowl

The Houston Texans have a much better roster now than they did this time a year ago. Then, we weren't really sure what this team was, as there were a lot of unknowns surrounding the fact that there were rookies everywhere you looked, even on the coaching staff. After making some trades and big signings, the Texans are firmly positioned to contend for the Super Bowl. But, there are still some holes on their roster. Sure, the roster they have now will widely be the one they go into Week 1 with, but there are areas they could add players to.

With training camp getting closer and closer, teams will eventually start to release players, as they have to get their roster from 90 players down to 53 by Week 1. This means some solid players could get cut. We call these guys surprise-cut candidates. Every team has them. For example, to people on the outside looking in, Robert Woods would seem like a player that people would be surprised about if he got cut, but the move would make sense with the current wide receiver room and the money he would save the Texans. Just because a player gets cut, doesn't mean they can't be good or of value to another team. So, with that, here are three surprising cut candidates from other teams that the Texans should sign to help them get to the Super Bowl:

With training camp around the corner, some surprise cuts are coming, as teams clear roster space, en route to their final 53-man roster Here, our staff predicts each team's surprise cut of the offseason READ: https://t.co/8mJrRmTSNk pic.twitter.com/rbWSZysCWK — A to Z Sports (@AtoZSportsNFL) June 27, 2024

Surprise cut candidates Texans should sign

Cleveland browns dt siaki ika.

The Houston Texans could use some more depth at the defensive tackle position, even after signing Denico Autry, Foley Fatukasi, and Tim Settle this offseason. After those three guys, their depth is pretty shaky, and I'd even say the Texans could sign a guy that could battle for the fourth DT position, which is currently occupied by Mario Edwards.

So, why not go after a guy who could potentially be cut who was drafted just last year, and a third-round pick at that? A to Z Sports' very own Cleveland Browns beat writer Brandon Little shared some info on the former Baylor Bear.

Cleveland was terrible at stopping the run in 2022 so they went out and refined the interior of the defensive line in 2023. It paid off for them but one guy that was supposed to come in and be an eventual run plugger was Ika, who was just unable to do that. Ika was a healthy scratch for most of the season until Maurice Hurst went down with an injury, then was not very good in limited playing time. Ika played 100 defensive snaps and did not record a single statistic for Cleveland. He was very heavy coming into the NFL and tested poorly athletically at the combine. If Ika is being blown off the ball during training camp like he was last season, Cleveland could move on after a year. - Browns beat writer Brandon Little

Las Vegas Raiders DT Mattew Butler

Butler is another young defensive tackle that the team he is currently on just hasn't been able to develop well yet. As we have seen, this new regime in Houston is great at developing young talent, and that could do the same for Butler, who was a prospect with a pretty decent ceiling coming into the NFL.

Las Vegas Raiders Defensive tackle Matthew Butler is only entering his third season after being drafted by the former regime, and things haven’t been the best for him in his NFL career. With the signing of Christian Wilkins, he is being pushed even further down the depth chart than he already was, and is currently looking at being the sixth DT. I think cutting him only makes sense. Raiders beat writer Justin Churchil l

Philadelphia Eagles CB James Bradberry

The Texans did just sign C.J. Henderson and Jeff Okudah this offseason to help with the depth at the position, but, we are not really sure what they will be in this system. Why not go after a guy who made a ton of huge plays in 2022, and was considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league?

That is, if he is cut.

The Eagles didn’t hesitate to draft back-to-back corners in the 2024 NFL Draft in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean . Now they have 15 of them heading into July training camp. That’s an obvious sign that the Eagles have little to no faith in Bradberry, who struggled last year. If he doesn’t have an eye-popping training camp and beat out these rookies, then don’t be surprised if the Eagles might let him go, even if it means eating some money. - Eagles beat writer Kelsey Kramer

Now, some of these players could end up not even getting cut. However, if they do get cut, they are perfect for the Texans to target heading into 2024.

Ex-Chargers Superstar Would Be Perfect Option For Eagles In Free Agency

  • Los Angeles Chargers

The Philadelphia Eagles need to add another boost to their defense before training camp kicks off.

The 2024 National League Football season will be here surprisingly soon and the Eagles still have plenty of money to spend. There are some top-tier free agents still out there and the Eagles could look for some help on the edge.

Philadelphia still should be making moves with the Super Bowl being a real possibility in 2024 and one player who makes a lot of sense is former Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Mami Dolphins defensive end Melvin Ingram.

He surprisingly still is available in free agency and certainly could help the Eagles out. He only appeared in three gamers last season but recorded 1 /2 sacks. He may not be what he once was, but he could provide vital veteran depth on the edge for an Eagles team that needs it.

Ingram had the most success of his career as a member of the Chargers and made three straight Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019. In 2022 he appeared in just six games but racked up six sacks over that stretch.

He clearly still has something left in the tank and could be a solid option for Philadelphia. At this point in the offseason, the Eagles clearly have the cap space to get a deal done. Why not use a little bit of it on a veteran with plenty of upside?

Lane Johnson says Eagles are 'eager' to prove themselves after 2023 collapse, busy offseason

Philly was considered a top title contender not long ago.

getty-lane-johnson-eagles.jpg

The Philadelphia Eagles endured a historic collapse in 2023, losing six of their final seven games, including playoffs, despite starting 10-1 and coming off a Super Bowl shootout with the Kansas City Chiefs . A year later, star lineman Lane Johnson says the team is "eager" to prove it's back on the right track.

"We have a lot of new faces, a lot of turnover," Johnson said Monday on NFL Network. "But (I) felt comfortable with the way we drafted. (We) got some great players. ... Obviously we have to go prove things and are eager to do so. But when you just look at the guys walking around the building, we've got size, we've got speed, and guys willing to work."

"Every year's different," Johnson continued. "I wish I had the answers to why the second half of (last) season went the way it did. It was something that went by so fast ... But (I'm) looking forward, obviously, to this new offense under Kellen Moore ."

Moore's addition as the offensive coordinator, after stints in the same role with the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers , could be the X factor to the Eagles' 2024 campaign. A former candidate for the Eagles' head coaching job, Moore reportedly has primary control over that side of the ball despite current head coach Nick Sirianni boasting an offensive background. Philadelphia also added a former head coach in Vic Fangio on the defensive side, tapping the longtime assistant as its new defensive coordinator.

Johnson, a five-time Pro Bowler at right tackle, is entering his 12th season with the Eagles.

Hometown hero Trey Smith welcomed in Jackson, celebrating second Super Bowl win

Two-time Super Bowl champion and Jackson native Trey Smith was celebrated on Friday at his high school alma mater, the University School of Jackson.

Drafted in 2021 as a sixth-round pick for the Kansas City Chiefs , the offensive lineman made history earning two Super Bowl wins in the three years he's been in the league.

Victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Superbowl LVII was followed by a second consecutive win over the San Francisco 49ers in Superbowl LVIII.

"A feat that people play over a decade and don't achieve is nothing but the power and grace of God," Smith said.

On Saturday, Smith held his first free football camp at USJ for elementary, middle, and high school students to give back to USJ and the Jackson community.

Smith and his sister Ashley also partnered with Golden Circle Auto Group to present the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson with a $5,000 check on behalf of Smith.

"For my youth today, young guys, boys, and girls in the crowd, young people who are aspiring to do great things in your life: Don't let anything discourage you. Have a dream. Think about your dream. Pray about your dream. Chase your dream."

While at USJ, he was named ESPN's number-one recruit in the country before attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville to continue his football career as an offensive lineman for the Volunteers.

The hometown hero recalled the day he got the phone call from the NFL that would change his life.

"The sheer amount of relief that I felt, the weight that came and got lifted off my shoulders, the amount of sheer gratitude I had in that moment is indescribable, it's priceless," he said.

He was honored in 2023 after his first Super Bowl win in a "Trey Day" welcome ceremony at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

USJ Head of School Don Roe welcomed Smith back to Kirkland Field at Carlock Stadium on Friday.

While commending Smith's NFL achievements as a lineman for the Chiefs, he reflected on his time as a USJ student.

"During his high school years, we had the privilege of watching Trey excel both on and off the field, in the classroom, in the halls, he was a standout here at USJ," he said.

Mayor Scott Conger acknowledged "the man who wears the number 65" with a Mayor's Commendation, presented to Smith.

Sitting beside Smith on stage, a group from USJ and the Boys and Girls Club asked him questions about his faith, overcoming adversity, his familial support system, and some of his most important lessons.

Remembering his late mother Dorsetta, he shared one of the most important lessons she instilled in him.

"My mama taught me one, pride comes before a fall, so she always taught me just to be humble. Don't ever feel like you've accomplished too much that you can't treat people with respect, honesty and decency" Smith said.

Speaking to attendees, he expressed just how integral the USJ community was in uplifting him during tough times.

"The power that a community has to bring an individual up coming to USJ, coming to this school every day, its support system, the teachers, the familiar faces I'm seeing right now.

"I want you to know you guys are one of the reasons I'm here today. I carried through, I wanted to keep going," Smith said.
