Friendship bracelets are a new Swiftie trend.

It’s been a long time coming, but Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is finally here. Now that you’ve settled on your concert ‘fit, you might be wondering what essentials you should bring to the Eras Tour The Eras Tour is like a mini Swift-themed music festival, and you want to be prepared for anything and everything that may happen on the day of your show.

By just looking at Swift’s Eras Tour setlist alone, you know that a portable charger is necessary to make it through the over three-hour show. Actually, Austin Ashburn ( @austinashburn4 ) who attended the second night of The Eras Tour in Glendale told Elite Daily that from start to finish, the show is “around five hours long.” That’s “not even including the car rides and line waits.” You’ll want to be prepared for a full-day adventure with everything you need in your bag. Speaking of which, most stadiums have very strict bag policies. Finding the right purse or backpack to match your Eras outfit is essential, but you want to make sure it’s actually one you can bring into the venue and get past security.

To help with packing for the Eras Tour, here’s everything you may want to bring to the Taylor Swift concert. There are even a few items you never would have thought to include on this list.

This portable charger is what to bring to Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour.'

Ashburn said the biggest Eras Tour essential is a portable phone charger. Even if you charge it beforehand, it may not last the entire day. Swift’s set is over three hours long, but you also have two opening acts and merch lines to wait in. If you’re using your phone the entire time, you’ll be draining your battery.

Bring a portable charger (or two) along with your charging cable, so that you have a backup. This power bank from Amazon has nearly 62,000 5-star reviews, with many raving about how quickly it brought their battery back to life.

Heart-shaped sunglasses are something to bring to the 'Eras Tour' inspired by Taylor Swift.

This is definitely something you may not be thinking to include in your bag, but Ashburn recommends bringing sunglasses. He argued that “most of the shows are taking place in the summertime,” and said he regretted not bringing them to the Glendale show.

Luckily, you can easily find sunglasses to match the Swift Era you’re channeling. For instance, Swifties going as her Red era may want to wear these heart-shaped sunglasses ($11) that she wore in the “22” music video. She also wore yellow heart-shaped sunglasses ($7) in the “You Need To Calm Down” video, but any color would do as long as it matches your era’s shade.

These earplugs are things to bring to a Taylor Swift concert like the 'Eras Tour.'

Many Swifties are raving about Loop earplugs on TikTok after wearing them at the first two shows of the Eras Tour. TikToker @__e.rxn said she “1000% needed” them for the show. They not only helped to protect her ears from the loud music and fans screaming, but they also helped with her anxiety walking through the large crowds in the stadium.

If you’re someone who also gets easily overstimulated, add these to your bag ASAP. Loop has some super cute color options as well, like gold, silver, and pink to match the Lover era.

Swifties will want to bring friendship bracelets to Taylor Swift 'Eras Tour' to exchange with other ...

Bringing freebies to hand out to other fans at concerts is something that BTS’ ARMY is familiar with, but Swifties are also getting in on this fun tradition now. Instead of K-pop photo cards or cup sleeves, Swifties have decided to hand out friendship bracelets at the Eras Tour.

In true Swiftie fashion, these friendship bracelets are inspired by the different eras or feature inside jokes only OG fans would get. TikToker @laughygirlmaris shared some of the hilarious Eras Tour friendship bracelets she and her fiancé made together for her show. A great kit to get you started on your DIY journey is this one from Amazon that comes with colorful beads, letter beads, and two rolls of cord.

Check the bag policy at the 'Eras Tour' before going, so you know what to bring to Taylor Swift conc...

Most stadiums have a clear bag policy, but be sure to check the bag requirements ahead of time to avoid getting turned away at security. These clear bags from Etsy are super cute and match the different eras.

A card holder is something to bring to Taylor Swift concert like the 'Eras Tour' since most stadiums...

Similar to the clear bag rule, a lot of stadiums are becoming cashless as well, which means that you’ll want to bring a card if you want to purchase any Eras Tour merch at the venue. To make sure your credit cards are safe in your clear bag, it’s a good idea to get a small wallet. If you’re going bagless, a cute Eras Tour card holder to attach to your phone is a stylish idea.

If you happen to be a Capital One member, be sure to put your credit card in your wallet as well. One Swiftie, Lauren ( @laurennnp ), got upgraded to floor seats the day of the show by taking a video at one of the stadium’s Capital One booths, which had the elevator from the Taylor Swift Capital One commercial . If you post your video to social, you’ll be entered to win a “free seat upgrade.” To verify, you just have to show your Capital One card or log into the Capital One app on your phone.

This water bottle is something you should bring to the 'Eras Tour' Taylor Swift concert.

Many Swifties said that Glendale sold out of water on night two of the Eras Tour. TikToker @ashleypaigenicholson revealed that she had to buy a water bottle from the merch booth to stay hydrated. Lauren suggests checking your stadium rules and adding an unopened water bottle to your bag if it’s allowed.

Different stadiums have different policies, so definitely look into it beforehand. For example, the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles allows empty reusable water bottles. If your venue is also cool with bottles, you might want to get something collapsible that can easily fit in your clear bag.

A lip balm is something to bring to Taylor Swift 'Eras' tour, and since Selena Gomez and Taylor Swif...

Lauren also argued that Chapstick is an essential item to throw into your Eras Tour bag. After all, you definitely don’t want to have chapped lips while trying to sing all 10 minutes of “All Too Well.” Since Swift is known for her iconic red lips, you may want to get something that’s tinted red. She would definitely approve of having her BFF Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty lip balm in your collection.

These Silky Toes shoes are foldable and comfortable shoes to wear to the Taylor Swift 'Eras Tour.'

TikToker @brittany.tucciaro’ s tips for the Eras Tour include bringing comfy shoes . You may have found the perfect glitter boots to pair with your Fearless ‘fit, but you have to remember the show is pretty long. If you can, pack some sandals or these Silky Toes foldable shoes that TikToker @jizellemaia recommends putting on after you snap all your pics for Insta. An even better idea is to just choose comfortable shoes from the start, like Keds .

These hand sanitizers are what to bring to the Taylor Swift concert.

Another practical recommendation of what to bring in your Eras Tour bag from @jizellemaia is hand sanitizer. If you plan on eating, you might not have time to stop by the bathroom to wash your hands — especially if the lines are long. Having a pocket-sized sanitizer in your bag will come in handy.

Bath & Body Works has amazing scents and some cute holders that you can clip to the outside of your bag to save some space. You can also find a holder to match your era, like a gold glitter one for Fearless , pink hearts for Lover , and purple butterflies for Speak Now .

Tissues are a great thing to bring to Taylor Swift 'Eras Tour' if you think you'll cry.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by a Taylor Swift song. Between “All Too Well” and “Tolerate It,” it’ll be shocking if you don’t end up shedding at least a tear or two. To make sure you’re ready for a cry sesh, be sure to bring along some tissues. These can also be useful if you need a napkin for that stadium food you’re grabbing before the show.

The Differences Between Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Merch Online Vs. In Person

From online-only merch to fading tees, buying Eras swag is almost as complicated as getting tickets.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Merch: What To Buy Online Vs. In Person

Buying tickets to Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour was so difficult that it spawned lawsuits that could very well change Ticketmaster as we know it. But believe it or not, there’s one thing that’s almost just as much of a hassle to obtain (and apparently maintain): Eras Tour merch because of extensively long lines, ranges of online-exclusive merch , and reports of certain items fading after just one wash . If you play your cards right though, it is possible to snatch up Swift’s merch with ease – and perhaps even nab some items no one else at the concert will get.

Swift has made merch accessible for fans who couldn’t get their hands on Eras Tour tickets by opening up her dedicated merch truck to the public in every Eras Tour city the day before each show. However, it’s taken some fans almost as long to buy merch as it did to buy their tickets in November, with lines stretching out to more than six hours long. Some people have also been camping out and buying literal cases of merch to resell online, leading Swift’s team to place limits on how many items can be bought per person.

If you have tickets to the show, merch lines aren’t quite as long once you enter the stadium, but you need to plan your day in advance if you’re after something specific. And if you don’t want to wait in line at all for Eras Tour merch, you’re in luck, but only to an extent. Swift’s online store carries a few of the items sold at the show, as well as a wide array of clothing, accessories, and other themed gadgets that are available exclusively online for the time being. However, a significant amount of pieces are only sold at the physical merch stands, making for some confusion on what to get.

Here’s your guide to Swift’s Eras Tour merch, including the whole fading issue.

What To Buy At The Eras Tour Merch Stand

Swift sells a variety of T-shirts, sweaters, and hoodies at the Eras Tour, most of which use the tour poster design and come in various colors, with the exception of a long-sleeve T-shirt that only has the image representing Midnights . Some of the most sought-after pieces, including the half-zip sweatshirt, a navy blue logo crewneck sweater, and a beige hoodie with a black-and-white tour poster on the back, are only sold at the merch truck, not at any of the merch stands inside the venue. If these are what you have your eye on, make sure to buy before heading into the stadium.

Most of the accessories sold at the show are only available in person, including the Eras Tour tote bag, canvas tapestry, water bottle, and glow baton. The only accessory that you can currently buy online is the “Bejeweled” bracelet, which has been sold on Swift’s online store since October. Each tour stop also has a personalized poster with the city’s name on it, which is also made available on the online store for a limited time after the shows.

What To Buy On The Eras Tour Online Store

Before the Eras Tour even began, Swift released a range of Eras Tour merch that fans can buy in advance and wear to their show. Many pieces are similar to those available at the merch stand, but there are slight differences between what’s sold online and in person. For example, the beige T-shirt sold at the stand has a black-and-white tour poster print, while the online shirt is in color , and the navy blue crewneck is sold as a very similar hoodie online. The only T-shirt that’s identical both online and at the venue is the black tour poster T-shirt .

era tour water bottle

The amount of merch available online is vast compared to what’s been sold at shows thus far. Currently, Swift’s store carries individual Eras Tour shirts for each era , from her 2006 debut to 2022’s Midnights , as well as outerwear with new designs not sold at the show, including an Eras Tour poncho in case you want to prepare for a rain show, which Swift famously loves.

Swifties aren’t the only ones taking advantage of this exclusive merch. After attending Swift’s show in Arlington, Texas, on April 1, her close friend Selena Gomez donned a pair of Eras Tour sweatpants, which are only available online for now.

Selena Gomez is seen filming "Only Murders in the Building" in Washington Heights on April 04, 2023 ...

Swift is also selling a huge variety of fun accessories not available at tour venues, including AirPods cases , a special Eras blanket , coasters shaped like guitar picks , actual guitar picks , and even a phone case with interchangeable frames for each era. Speaking from experience, it’s very easy to spend more money on merch than you did for your actual ticket, so be sure to plan wisely.

Will Your Eras Tour Merch Fade?

After the first shows of the Eras Tour, merch-buyers complained that their T-shirts drastically faded after just one wash. In a statement on Swift’s online store, the merch team explained that the “slight fade” is intentional for “the product’s distressed, vintage look” and is a result of the “particular ink curing process” that was used on the shirts. “Please also note it is important to follow product care instructions as listed on the product label when washing and drying your items, to best protect and maintain the product's look and feel,” they wrote.

However, Swift’s team is offering exchanges if buyers notice a “dramatic loss of pigment or ink bleeding” on their shirts, simply asking them to contact [email protected] to see if their case would fall under the exchange policy.

We're getting nearer to Eras and here's your packing list.

The countdown is well and truly on.  Soon the queen - sorry Bey - will be among us.

Taylor Swift is undoubtedly the hottest musician on the planet right now.

There's no hotter ticket than one to her Eras tour. It has even spawned its own travel industry with necessary flights and hotels - not to mention gear. That's where we've got your back (to December).

Make no mistake, Eras is a long day/night out. The show lasts for over three hours, there are support acts, merch to be bought and public transport to be caught. And you want to be able to capture every moment right? The Iniu 22.5w Power Bank has clocked a solid 4.5 star rating after over 14,000 reviews and will keep your phone snapping and shooting.

If past concerts in the Eras tour are anything to go by, security will only be letting in people with transparent bags. It makes sense to ensure people aren't smuggling in anything they shouldn't. For comfort and ease of use, we’d suggest a cross body version. This one complies in style and is big enough to accommodate your phone, tickets, makeup and is made of waterproof PVC.

Toddmomy Red Heart Shaped Sunglasses.

One of the most fun aspects of this tour is that fans are choosing an era of Taylor’s life/work to dress up in - hence mirroring the structure of the show. If you’ll recall the '22' video - and who doesn’t - red heart-shaped sunnies will come to mind.  Outfit your squad with these and let the Instas commence. It’s also worth noting that the staging involves some seriously bright lighting and you don’t want to spend any part of the show squinting.

A collapsible water bottle

Natalie Thomas and Manasa Gudavalli May 26, 2023

“ Once upon a time, a few mistakes ago ,” we had the opportunity to attend Foxborough, Massachusetts’ night three show of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour on May 21. While we had a blast at the show, we also learned a few tips for how to avoid heavy traffic, sore feet, a hungry stomach and other inconveniences during the performance.

Here is your chance to learn from our mistakes and have the best possible time at the upcoming East Rutherford, New Jersey shows on May 26, 27 and 28.

Natalie Thomas and Manasa Gudavalli take a selfie in the middle of the Gillette Stadium. Natalie wears a light purple dress and Manasa wears a cream crop top and a pair of denim shorts.

“Lately I’ve been dressin’ for revenge”

While we were at the show, we saw costumes from all of Taylor’s eras, from white dresses for her debut album to blue sparkly ensembles for “Midnights.” Don’t worry about making your outfit too unique, there are only so many eras. There were at least eight people wearing the same “Speak Now” inspired dress that one of us wore. But remember, eight people in a stadium that seats over 60,000 isn’t that many.

Don’t let your fear of matching outfits with another Swifite stop you from letting your creativity sparkle — “a diamonds gotta shine” after all. We saw costumes running the gamut from handmade recreations of Taylor’s Grammy looks to one fan dressed as Shrek. We’re unsure of how Shrek relates to Taylor Swift, but it made us laugh, nonetheless.

Concert attendees film Taylor Swift’s performance with their phone. In the background is a jumbotron showing Taylor Swift in a white dress with a guitar strapped to her shoulder.

“She wears high heels, I wear sneakers”

As much as you might want to wear your heeled cowboy boots — and as cute as they might make you look — you’re in for a long show and will be standing for over three hours for Taylor’s set alone. Just because Taylor is in Louboutins, doesn’t mean you have to be too. If you want to be in cute shoe s for pictures, we’d suggest bringing an extra pair of slides or sneakers in your bag.

While one of us did bring a pair of slides, we forgot to take them out of the bag at the beginning of the show and were too distracted by Taylor’s performance to remember to put them on later. We highly encourage you to put any spare footwear in an easily accessible place so you can quickly slip your shoes on during one of the costume changes.

If you don’t have a pair of pointy cowboy boots or sparkly heels in your wardrobe, though, no need to spend the extra money — there were plenty of people in comfy sneakers.

Taylor Swift performs before a screen background that is black with white stars, standing with a guitar in hand. Swift wears a hot pink mid-length dress with layered ruffles as she sings into a standing microphone.

“Put the money in a bag and I stole the keys”

Be sure to check your stadium bag policy BEFORE going to the show. Most stadiums permit clear bags that are up to 12 inches long, 6 inches wide and 12 inches high, or a small purse or clutch. Make sure you also check your stadium’s carry-in policy to see what you can and cannot bring inside the venue.

While Gillette Stadium did not allow us to bring in food or beverages, those of you attending Taylor’s concerts at the MetLife Stadium have the luxury of being able to bring reusable water bottles or sealed beverages. Other essentials we’d recommend are the usual phone, wallet, ID and keys, but just as important items include whatever lip product you’re wearing, gum, Tylenol or Advil, a portable charger, a poncho if you’re scheduled for a rain show, eyeliner for a “cat eye sharp enough to kill a man” and other makeup and hair supplies for touch-ups.

Although we chose to ignore the warnings to bring earplugs, Swifties love to scream-sing, so we’d recommend investing in a pair if you have sensitive ears or want to avoid ear damage. We also encourage you to bring a “cardigan,” as it got chilly toward the end of the show.

A large crowd fills the floor and stands of Gillette Stadium, surrounding a stage and a tower at the center of the stadium. The stage has a background featuring colorful photos of Taylor Swift, with the text “TAYLOR SWIFT THE ERAS TOUR” overlaid in black on a white rectangle. A sign reading “Gillette Stadium” overlooks the crowd from the top of the stadium.

“I’m walking fast through the traffic lights”

While it can be easy to leave planning transportation to the last minute, we strongly recommend doing so ahead of time. We chose to drive and park in the stadium lot, but there were plenty of people that chose to take “the night train for a reason,” other forms of public transportation or park their car further away and walk to the venue. All the options do the job, but make sure to know what you’re doing ahead of time to avoid having to make plans amid a chaotic crowd.

The MetLife Stadium parking lots open at 2:30 p.m., the stadium doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Traffic will be worse than you’ll expect, so leave for the concert earlier rather than later. If you’re planning on driving home after, be prepared for more traffic leaving than there was arriving at the stadium. To pass the time, be sure to pack snacks, comfy clothes and have a Taylor playlist ready to queue.

Taylor Swift, wearing a purple feather jacket, a pair of black shorts and boots, and a backup dancer, wearing a shiny golden jacket, sings on a stage filled with rainbow-colored confetti. Concert attendees clap along and film the performance.

“It feels like a perfect night for breakfast at midnight”

Getting to see Taylor at her best is definitely worth the time and energy it takes to be at her concert. That said, it’ll be a long day, regardless of your travel plans. You’ll be on your feet a lot, so it’s important to prioritize giving your body fuel. Pack snacks to munch on if your stadium allows it, and if not, bring some snacks to eat in line before you go in.

The food lines in the stadium might look long, but they move fast, so be sure to check them out before the show starts. We thought we had enough food in our system to only get an order of fries before the opening acts, but by the Fearless era we were hungry again. The person in front of us had Sour Patch Watermelon and Doritos Cool Ranch — which we don’t even like — lying on the floor, and we were tempted to look at them more than at Taylor. Don’t be like us.

The crowd sings along to Taylor Swift’s performance. A woman in white raises her phone to film the performance.

“Our song is the way you laugh”

Be sure to brush up on Taylor’s song lyrics, not just for the songs on the set list, but for her whole discography, as she plays two surprise songs toward the end of her set each night. If you get “Long Live” as one of your surprise songs — which we were both hoping to hear at our show — we will be very jealous, but also happy for you.

You should also give a listen to the openers’ music ahead of time, our show featured Phoebe Bridgers and Gracie Abrams. For those of you attending the show on the 26th, Abrams will be swapped with Gayle, and for the shows on the 27th and 28th, Owenn will take her place. They’re all great artists, just make sure you’ll be able to sing along.

Taylor Swift, wearing a pink shiny top and skirt, sings into a microphone as concert attendees film her performance.

“So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it”

There are many Swiftie traditions for The Eras Tour shows, which can be a great opportunity to have fun and build camaraderie with other fans. Our personal favorite is the exchange of friendship bracelets with Taylor lyrics and references between concertgoers.

If you choose to participate, we’d recommend making your bracelets as early as possible, because it takes longer than you’d think, and you don’t want to stay up the night before the show making them like one of us did. You’ll also likely run out of letters fast — we ran out of A’s and E’s first. If this happens to you, you can take a sharpie and turn V’s into A’s and F’s into E’s.

On the topic of bracelets, Taylor gives each fan one of her own that flashes colorful lights in synchronization with her music throughout the performance. To keep the memories alive, be sure to keep the battery tab with you to put back in the bracelet after the show. By placing the tab back into the bracelet, the lights will stop flashing, though you can pull it out at a later date to reminisce about the night.

Concert attendees hold up their phones to record Taylor Swift’s performance. In the background is a sign that reads “Gillette Stadium”

“You got that long hair, slicked back, white T-shirt”

The first thing you should do when you enter the stadium is make a beeline for the merchandise table. The lines get long quickly and there will be a wait — we stood in line for around 30 minutes. The time goes faster if you trade friendship bracelets with the other people in line or rate the outfits of fellow Swifties. Another option is to get there early and go to the parking lot merch stand.

Taylor Swift waves toward the audience against a backlit stage. Above in the night sky are orange fireworks.

We hope we helped you avoid our mistakes and feel ready to dance and scream-sing your heart away at The Eras Tour, enjoying every era with a full stomach and comfy feet. “Are you ready for it?”

In November 2022, Taylor Swift announced The Eras Tour, which she described as “a journey through all of [the] musical eras of my career” in an interview on Good Morning America. Since then, the tour has gained immense popularity. Swift has put on 44 shows as of September 2023, and she will put on 102 more by the time the tour is over in November 2024, projecting to rake in around 2.2 billion dollars in ticket sales and making The Eras Tour the highest grossing concert tour of all time.

Industry experts estimate that the tour will generate a total of five billion dollars in consumer spending on tickets, transportation, costumes, merchandise and food.

Sophomore Lucy Goldring describes some of her expenses attending The Eras Tour in Seattle.

“We stayed in a hotel for two nights, and we had dinner out […] the whole time and we ate lunch and breakfast out [as well],” said Goldring.

While the tens of thousands of fans attending each show are causing a massive economic boom, it is also causing an environmental impact due to an increase in carbon emissions, consumerism and waste according to environmental experts.

Sophomore Katherine Warner-Frey attended the concert in Chicago and bought a new outfit for the show.

“I did purchase things that I probably won’t rewear,” said Warner-Frey. “I purchased a pink glitter skirt and a top with a big heart on it […], they were definitely on the cheaper side.”

Along with an outfit, she bought many plastic products in order to drink water during the concert.

“You had to get a plastic water bottle, but you weren’t allowed to actually bring the plastic water bottles down onto the floor, so then you had to use a plastic water bottle and a plastic cup, which is a lot of waste,” said Warner-Frey.

We may have had a whole year to prepare our stellar outfits and pack our bags, but for fans heading to Taylor Swift's Eras tour in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on June 18, it's worth knowing exactly what you can and can't take into the stadium.

As per most gigs at the home of Welsh rugby there are some items organisers are asking people to leave behind, some of them are things you'd think about carrying around in your handbag so it is worth knowing about. We've got that information below if you're after the list of things you're not allowed to take into the Stadium. And for more show details, like support, road closures etc, click here.

The multi-Grammy-winning star is currently one of the world's biggest music acts and, as it stands today, the biggest female touring act in the world and, as of 2019 has sold 200m records sold worldwide. She's recorded 11 studio albums and rerecorded four of those, Fearless, Red, Speak Now and 1989 after a dispute with Big Machine Records with who she was signed between 2005 and 2017. She released her latest record, The Tortured Poet's Department in April, ahead of restarting The Eras Tour in Europe. It instantly broke records including becoming the highest single-day and single-week global streams for an album on Spotify.
