Next, we’ll indulge in an iconic cannoli, and visit two hidden gems that offer unique culinary experiences. At one stop, you’ll enjoy a bread tasting from a three-time Old World Best of Boston Bread Bakery. At another, you’ll savor balsamic vinegars, and house-made mozzarella tastings from a salumeria featured on the Food Network’s “Best Thing That I Ever Ate.”

Here, you’ll enjoy representative tastings from up to 30 local and regional vendors, including a regional specialty doughnut, Best of Boston-winning ice cream, and addictive flavored nuts.

Our finale is both historical and delicious! Just a block away from the market, we’ll experience the longest continuously-running restaurant in the country, ranked by Forbes as one of the top ten classic restaurants in the world.  Here, we’ll savor its iconic chowder and cornbread, and beer drinkers can enjoy an exclusive Sam Adams beer on tap.

We did the North end tour. The food was delicious, and there was a good amount of history. I was hoping for more food and a bit less history, but overall it was good.

DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ THE WHOLE POST? DON’T WORRY – I’VE GOT YOU COVERED! My Top 3 picks for the best Boston food tours are : 1. North End Pizza & History Food Tour (4.5/5⭐️) 2. North End & Public Market Tour (5/5⭐️) 3. Brewery Tour With Lunch or Dinner (5/5⭐️)

What Food Is Boston Most Famous For?

First thing’s first, it’s a good idea to know what food Boston is most famous for before you decide which tour is best for you. And because it’s a city, you could argue that pretty much all cuisine shines here, but there are definitely two types of food that are going to stand out in Boston:

🍝 Italian and 🦞 Seafood !

Between the 1850s and early 1900s, a large population of Italians immigrated to Boston via the Port of Boston, and many of them settled in the North End. Now, the North End is famous for charming and historic streets, and … you guessed it – Italian food! If you love Italian cuisine, this is where you should go (or take your tour!).

And of course, seafood is another star of the Boston food scene simply because of its location on the coast. Menus all across the city will feature fresh seafood from coastal towns like Wellfleet, Chatham, Ipswich, Nantucket and more . In particular, if you see Wellfleet or Chatham oysters, Nantucket scallops or Maine lobster on the menu, you’ll definitely want to consider ordering those!

Are Boston Food Tours Worth It?

Absolutely! In fact, depending on how long you’re in Boston, it may even be worth it to do 2 tours. A North End tour combined with something different like a scenic food cruise tour, or the fun cooking class would be an amazing way to really get a feel for the culinary scene.

Quincy Market is an awesome place for a Boston food tour, but be sure to head back on your own, too, to sample even more awesome dishes.

Tips For Your Boston Food Tour!

  • Wear comfy shoes! Sneakers will be ideal. Boston is a pretty casual city anyway, and most tours on this list head over to the North End, where there are historic (meaning, uneven!) cobblestone and brick sidewalks. Sturdy and comfy shoes are a must.
  • Come hungry! I know it seems this goes without saying, but most food tours will equal an entire meal. Be sure to read the description to find out how much food you’ll be eating, and come hungry enough for it!
  • Bring a reusable water bottle if your tour doesn’t provide drinks or bottled water. Some do, but it’s best to check and come prepared.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions on your tour! The guides are local experts, and they love sharing their knowledge on the food scene in Boston. Don’t hesitate to raise your hand and get all your questions answered. I also highly suggest asking where to eat during the rest of your trip because they’ll have awesome off-the-beaten-path recommendations!

The New Harvard Square Donut Tour!

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, USA, June 5, 2024 / EINPresswire.com / -- On Sunday, June 9th which is the first Sunday after #NationalDonutDay, Off The Beaten Path Food Tours will be premiering a brand new Harvard Square Donut Tour. Started by a local couple who loves delicious food in Boston, Off The Beaten Path Food Tours has been running award-winning food and chocolate tours for 6 years since 2017. This donut tour took over a year to develop together with four partner restaurants, and it showcases a broad variety of the sweet treat from greek donuts to mochi donuts to churros to wild and flavorful yeast donuts. Guests will be delighted by stories about the history of donuts, tales of Harvard Square, and information about the restaurant stops. Together with a friendly guide, they will sample the best donuts in Boston and enjoy a carefree Sunday in this historic enclave.

"Harvard Square, being both an intellectual college town and a fun neighborhood hangout, offers a variety of the best donuts in Boston!" explained Lizzie Bell, founder of Off The Beaten Path Food Tours. "We already host a very popular Harvard Square Chocolate Tour here, but over the years we realized that not everyone loves chocolate. So we wanted to offer a new option for guests who still want to enjoy a sweet tour of the area, but with a new focus."

The tour is fun for all ages. Those who are younger can opt to sample a lemonade instead of a greek coffee frappe pairing. In addition, the tour is wheelchair accessible. The tour company is warm and welcoming of locals and tourists alike.

What to Expect The new Harvard Square Donut Tour is 90 minutes and includes 4 stops, with one coffee pairing included. It runs Sundays year-round from 11am - 12:30pm. The company has 5 other tours that are running, and they are still opening up new tours post-pandemic including their Lowell Food Tour which will be opening up next. Their popular Harvard Square Chocolate Tour will still run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 3pm, Fridays at 7pm, and Saturdays at 2pm and 5pm and is available for private tours. Their Stories of Harvard Square Food Tour also runs on Saturday mornings at 11:30am. The small business also offers a Central Square Food and Mural Arts Tour on Tuesday nights at 7pm and Sundays at 12pm in Cambridge, MA. Their Union Square, Somerville Food Tour runs Saturday at 3pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance via their website.

"We guarantee you'll have a blast on this tour," says Bell. "It's so much fun. The donuts are absolutely top notch delicious, and our guides are the best in the city! But don't take my word for it, buy a ticket yourself and help us support these local, independent restaurants that make our neighborhoods so interesting and vibrant. For us, it's vital to support local independent restaurants and showcase their stories as well as show off the mouth-watering treats they serve!"

How Can Guests Book Tickets The company tries to keep the price low in the hopes that locals will participate. The tours are a fun every day outing but are also fun for celebrations such as birthdays, dates, bachelorette parties, and anniversaries. Tickets are $45 for all guests. If you'd like to add on a souvenir mug, you can do so for $10/guest additional. Tickets can be booked at www.offthebeatenpathfoodtours.com today!

Slutty Vegan restaurant chain launching pop-up in Boston this week. What to know

Slutty Vegan , the popular Atlanta-based vegan burger restaurant chain, is making its way to the Boston area for a four-day stay.

The brand is taking over the Rice Building, at 10 High St., Boston, MA 02110.

The Slutty Vegan pop-up in Boston will be here from June 6 to June 9.

This pop-up is just one stop on the Gettin’ Slutty Tour, taking entrepreneur Pinky Cole ’s adult-themed dishes on the road.

One such dish is the Sloppy Toppy burger with plant-based patties, jalapeños and vegan cheese. Another staple is the Project Chik, a vegan chicken sandwich with vegan bacon, jalapeños, vegan ranch and vegan smoked Gouda cheese.

On June 6 and 7, the pop-up will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. On June 8 and 9, it will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

History of the Slutty Vegan

Cole started the business in a shared kitchen in Atlanta in 2018, opening the first brick and mortar location one year later.

The chain has 12 locations in Georgia, New York, Texas and Alabama.

The website says that franchising a Slutty Vegan store is not available yet but will be soon.
