The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour is a part of the latest season of this online driver experience, and key to unlocking some sweet new wheels. Forza Horizon 5 is stuffed full of online activity to take part in during its winter season, however there are few that are more fun than the Horizon Tour. But what exactly is the Horizon Tour, what kind of race type, and what do you get for taking part? Here's everything you need to know about the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour, including how to access it, what it is, and rewards.

Taking part in more Forza Horizon 5 seasonal events? We've got some guides for you.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: What Is The Horizon Tour?

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour in action, as two cars splash through water.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour is one of the many activities that you can race through as part of the seasonal event. Forza Horizon 5 is currently in its winter season, offering up the ID Zerouno '18 and Subaru 22B vehicles, which you can only unlock by earning points. The Horizon Tour is one of those many ways to earn points.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour itself is a three-race co-op event where players will face off in two teams of six, split between the red and blue team. The goal is to have the majority of your team place in the top six to earn points, and as such, you don't want to be running your team off the road just for you to get first place. The race takes place on dirt tracks and will use C-Class vehicles. Once any given race is over you will then drive collectively to the next race, and so on.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: How To Access The Horizon Tour

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour in the menus.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour can easily be found in the Festival playlist. Just hit the pause button and find the playlist on the left of the world map. Once in there, you will be treated to the current reward cars, along with weekly and daily challenges. Scroll through to the right until you come across the various activities. On the bottom right, you should see the Horizon Tour Co-Op Championship. By clicking on it, you will be put into a waiting lobby, before eventually joining the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour. Since this is a part of the winter season, you will only have until December 4 to take part in it.

  • Want to know the roads of these races a little better? We've got a Forza Horizon 5 map guide you should have a look at.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: Rewards

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour podium.

Of course, the ultimate reward for the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour is to gain enough points to earn the latest legendary cars. For that, the Horizon Tour will grant you three Forza Points. For context, you will need 22 and 42 points to earn either of the reward cars. Additionally, from taking part in the event you will earn your usual rung of XP and skill points, which obviously increase depending on your position in the race. If this is your first Horizon Tour race, you will also earn the Tourist Attraction achievement.

That's everything you need to know about the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour. Looking for an activity that will bag you a little bit more money? Check out our Forza Horizon 5 Goliath glitch .

A list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races/schedule rotation

forza horizon 5 tour race

Forza Horizon 5 Tour is a co-op multiplayer mode where you and a team of five other players compete against AI drivatars in three consecutive Apex, Wilds or Baja races across the map. Whether you came across the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races from the Festival Playlist or it’s already one of your favorite FH5 features due to its cooperative nature and more lowkey, laidback nature compared to competitive online races, what might not be apparent from the get-go is a definitive list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races nor their rotation schedule.

Which is why we’ve put together this list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races, the schedule they follow by the hour and which cars fall under each race category so you won’t be left in the dust by your convoy or more importantly, the drivatar opposition.

These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.

Horizon tour event list.

DefEdge

Posted on 28 December 21 at 03:59, Edited on 07 May 22 at 02:20 by DefEdge So I got this mostly from the Forza forums but I added a little bit more information for those who might find knowing what event happens at what minute in the hour rotation. He collected the data of what was there, I added the racing surface. 00: B-Reasonably Priced - Road 02: S1-Any - Dirt 04: B- Any - Cross Country - !Mislabeled! - MINIS ONLY 06: A-LandRover - Dirt 08: A-Unlimited Offroad - Cross Country 10: A-Any - Road 12: B-ClassicRally - Dirt 14: C-Pickups&4x4 - Cross Country - 1970s ONLY 16: S1-ClassicRacers - Road 18: S1-Hoonigan - Dirt 20: A-HeavyHitters - Cross Country 22: S1-ModernMuscle - Road 24: A-RuleBritannia - Dirt 26: S1-Any - Cross Country 28: S1-UpgradeHeroes - Road 30: S1-Any - Dirt 32: C-Pickups&4x4 - Cross Country - FORD ONLY 34: A-SuperSaloons - Road 36: B-EVO vs Impreza - Dirt 38: A-SportsUtilityHeroes - Cross Country 40: S1-ClassicRacers - Road 42: A-Unlimited Offroad - Dirt 44: S1-Any - Cross Country 46: A-BMW - Road 48: C-Retro Rally - Dirt 50: C-Pickups&4x4 - Cross Country - 1970s ONLY 52: S1-Any - Road 54: S1-Chevrolet vs Dodge - Dirt 56: D-Buggies - Cross Country 58: A-Any - Road Notice at minute 04 it is mislabeled. If you went to the tour location and looked at it, it will say B700 Anything Goes. This is wrong. If you enter it, you will only be allowed to select your B class Minis and rent the JCW Mini stock. For those who are wondering about certain accolades, you will also notice a lack of an S2 event. So that Complete a Horizon Tour in a S2 vehicle accolade is currently unobtainable. I figured this might be useful for those who are looking for a time to sign up for the Volkswagen De Lux tomorrow and next week the GT cars without sitting there waiting for it to cycle. Each entry is good for 2 minutes, the entry on the list is the first minute and ends right at the next entry. This is how it's been since the game launched AFAIK. It is subject to change, but I'm not going to sit there and monitor it. It is also not random. Edit: Giving credit, a player on the Forums with the gamertag QQstarSS. May or may not be on TA, but figured I'd give credit. Also a huge bit of work from LSD51ZEN on there, page 2, for taking screenshots of each event with tracks, AND for correcting the 'posters' for the events as needed for the 4 that had to be corrected. We will have to see if anymore need correcting... Edit 2: So it seems we have had wrong info because we didn't test everything out. The 3 events that are supposedly Pick ups and 4x4s are ALSO mislabeled. They have been struck out and corrected above Not actually mislabeled, just missing information... (as have the mislabeled B Any to Minis). This new info is from the Horizon Tour thread on the official Forza forums, just passing it onto everyone here. I didn't test it myself because I didn't need the accolade for it. This list is now completely obsolete and I pulled a link from the forums with a new long long list. This link is a shortened link to the google spreadsheet. https://t.co/rYpEhjnEBB Phear my Uber Gimpyness!

MathGuy42

Posted on 27 April 22 at 23:16, Edited on 29 April 22 at 14:04 by MathGuy42 This rotation list is no longer valid as of the latest update. It's unclear to me if there's a regular rotation now or it's randomized. I've been watching for about 30 minutes, waiting for an S2 race with no luck. This person waited over an hour and didn't detect a regular rotation, though I suppose it could just be a very long rotation now. If anyone finds a new rotation list and especially when S2 happens, that would be great. It might be hard to find D and C also. I think I've only seen B, A, and S1 come up. Edit: FYI, S2 came up yesterday at 2:40pm EDT. I don't know if it will come up at that time again. As I waited, I also saw a D and a few C's, so those still come up too.

Posted on 07 May 22 at 02:18 Yeah, I was just noticing that. I did find a list where someone has compiled all the data, and it's crazy! Here's a shortened link that takes you to a spreadsheet. We do actually have S2 events now! https://t.co/rYpEhjnEBB I haven't completely looked it over, but it's a BIG list. According to someone counting it has: D - 10 C - 34 B - 120 A - 308 S1 - 234 S2 - 14 X - 0 I have no idea if that list is repeated or not, but... yeah... Phear my Uber Gimpyness!

Sorry about that then. I don't know what to do then. I was going by the official forums where someone spent all day compiling the list. Did you adjust for the time zone? The top left of the chart says to start in UTC. Granted, I have not referred to this list myself yet, I still need to do an S2 and last night xbox was having issues, saying I had to be online to play any of my games so I gave up on it. Edit: Here is a link to where I got that list from: https://forums.forzamotorsport.net/t/horizon-tour-event-list... Phear my Uber Gimpyness!

Posted on 08 May 22 at 18:35 Hrm... I wonder if the events shift or if it totally is random. I feel bad for the guy who spent a day compiling it then, meaning all of his work was for naught if it was random. Then again, such a massive list needing to be collected in a rapid fashion, he's had to worry about the type of race, type of vehicle, and the 3 tracks the tour takes place on. I certainly couldn't have done that, I have to work 5 days a week and also take care of family one the weekends, so I'm usually pretty busy. Phear my Uber Gimpyness!

Was 8:16am PST the time the race showed up in the menu for signup or when it started? It looks like the times are for when the race actually starts, since the header says, "Signup begins 120 seconds before Start!" His list matches my experience that I posted above. The S2 race appeared for signup at 2:40pm EDT and started 2:42pm EDT. That's the 18:42 UTC race.

This was the only one I tested though since it was the only tour I needed.

Posted on 09 May 22 at 02:37 Hrm... looking over the list right now and comparing to what's in the game I am finding problems with some things not matching what's on the chart. Like at 2:20 it says S1 900 anything goes but it was A 800 anything goes. The tracks were correct though. Also yeah, I can see where you guys are saying that the times are not correct, like I have the UTC timer up on timeanddate.com and either I am 2 minutes back from that (my clock is set by internet) or these times are 2 minutes off. I would be putting the times in as "This is when this event begins collecting players" not the start time of the event itself. I guess if you are referring to the spreadsheet you would be looking ahead and not at the exact time, since you would already be looking at the screen and being ready. Phear my Uber Gimpyness!

Here's a shortened link that takes you to a spreadsheet. We do actually have S2 events now! https://t.co/rYpEhjnEBB I haven't completely looked it over, but it's a BIG list. According to someone counting it has: D - 10 C - 34 B - 120 A - 308 S1 - 234 S2 - 14 X - 0 I have no idea if that list is repeated or not, but... yeah... Thank you very much! This tour guide are very precise. I only needed two Horizon Tour challenges, complete an event with a D class car and an S2 class car. Events are matching 100% with the table. netstryker

Forza Horizon 5 review: the ultimate big-tent driving game cruises to Mexico

Road to everywhere.

One key to the success of the Forza Horizon open-world driving games has been how easy developer Playground Games made that success look. From day one, these games have had a rock-solid certainty of what they were about. They have all been slick and accessible to play, and have all offered an insouciant, easygoing, thumbs-up kind of hedonism: pretty cars, lovely places, pumping tunes, good times guaranteed.

Playground has maintained the games' quality and iterated so carefully that it's hard to pick a favourite or a standout. That said, 2018's Forza Horizon 4 was undoubtedly the series' boldest step, shifting the emphasis toward an online world and regular in-game updates. At the time, I was a little hard on what I felt was a carelessly disorganised campaign and unfocused persistent multiplayer, while I recognised - but still underestimated - how transformative the weekly changes of season and Festival Playlist updates would be for the game's longevity. Between the Playlist, the game's natural affinity with its British setting, and the later addition of a buzzy battle-royale-style Eliminator mode, Forza Horizon 4 cemented the series' popularity in new ways.

Forza Horizon 5 is not as much of a trailblazer as its predecessor, notwithstanding the globetrotting glamour it drums up from its Mexican setting. This game leans heavily on the (many) things Forza Horizon already does well, makes a few judicious tweaks, and focuses most of its energy on a structural revamp of single-player which gives the campaign a colourful, storytelling sweep. Although the game only launches today for VIP players, it is such a known quantity - and Playground is such a safe pair of hands - that I feel comfortable reviewing it straight away.

Cover image for YouTube video

Case in point: that all-important Festival Playlist. Although the game's content updates don't officially kick off for another week, a preview version of the Playlist is available to try, and it still provides the most challenging, hooky and carefully curated way to tour the riches of the game's map and garage. This is where you'll find the fantastic co-op Trial (the racing game equivalent of a raid dungeon), the themed seasonal championships, and the Forzathon weekly challenge, where a different car is the star each week. The Playlist has been expanded with more casual challenges and online components - and I was delighted to note that seasonal PR stunts now come with car restrictions, which will make executing these jumps, drifts and speed trials that bit more interesting each week.

Competitive multiplayer continues its evolution from the map-spanning chaos of the earlier games to something more purposeful. Now called Horizon Open (Playground has a mania for renaming Horizon's features), the multiplayer suite is divided into Racing, Drifting, Playground Games and the Eliminator; I've only tried Racing so far, but the other formats are unlikely to surprise or disappoint. Racing is a blast, offering focused and thrilling five-race series; controversially, however, ranked play has been ditched. Creative director Mike Brown told me that he wanted the competitive racing experience to be "more welcoming" and less frustrating than Forza Horizon 4's intense ranked play, which won't go down well with all corners of the community, but which is undoubtedly in the inclusive, fun-first spirit of Forza Horizon.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Co-op remains a unique focus for this racing series, with much of the campaign playable with friends. Forza Horizon 4's Forzathon Live has been rebranded as Forza Arcade, although I can't say it has been revolutionised - it's still the main reason for players to gather in free roam and still the same scrappy grind of rotating co-op skill challenges, but it is better paced and balanced, with some nice new event ideas. An excellent new addition is Horizon Tour, a co-op racing playlist that is basically the fearsome Trial only more chill, with lower AI difficulty and nice cross-country drives between races. Untethered from the weekly schedule, I can see this becoming one of my favourite ways to enjoy the game.

Forza Horizon has accrued an astonishing range of play styles in its nine-year lifespan. There's so much stuff to do that it can be disorienting to navigate, but Playground has chosen to lean into this multiplicity and enable them all as valid ways to play the game. You can explore the map, collecting barn finds and finding original murals and famous landmarks. You can take photos of every car in the game for Horizon Promo, or create challenges and events in the powerful Super7 and EventLab editing tools, or labour over car tunes and paint jobs, or run Rivals time trials. You can collect outfits and emotes for your avatar, phrases for the Forza Link player communication system, horns for your car. And, of course, you can collect cars.

forza horizon 5 tour race

At least until Gran Turismo 7 arrives, Forza Horizon is the reigning champ of car collectathons, and like 4, this latest version feeds you a steady stream of new motors from events and slot-machine spins as well as from DLC, dealerships and the useful auction house. A new sticker-book style Car Collection view is a welcome way to visualise your progress (it retains cars you sell or give away). Although there are over 500 vehicles here, the curation shows both impeccable taste and catholic breadth, with a great eye for exotics and classics as well as more mundane strands of car-culture cool. I do wonder if the car list is starting to calcify a bit; beyond some headline new additions, there isn't a great sense of evolution or surprise to it, and (with the exception of the astonishingly fast Porsche Taycan) it lags on the EV revolution, with Teslas and other electric icons notable by their absence. These are some of the most desirable cars around; the automotive industry is entering what might be the most dramatic period of change in its history, and it would be a shame for games like Forza to be left behind.

However, Forza Horizon might be the only racing series in which the cars have to share top billing. The game's other star is its map. This is an open-world game and a hangout game as much as it is a racing game, and so location is everything.

Playground surprised many with the choice of Mexico over more obvious candidates like Japan; the same thing happened with Australia five years ago, and the choice proves similarly inspired. The map is an absolute wonder, backed by a game engine which can deliver staggering views across the whole thing from the summit of the volcano that towers over it. The environments are rich and saturated with colour and atmosphere, from humid swamps to arid dunes, from deep, verdant canyons to pastel-striped barrios . The Playground team is expert at seeding all this real estate with spectacle that judiciously balances fantasy and reality, and at sculpting road layouts that usually favour the fast and sweeping over the tight and technical. It's another masterpiece. The only complaint I have is that urban driving is underrepresented - the city of Guanajuato is incredibly picturesque, but too small and densely packed to present the tasty racing opportunities that Edinburgh did three years ago.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Along with the stunning landscape comes a full-throated embrace of Mexican culture that is as unfailingly upbeat (and about as sophisticated) as a tourist board ad . There's a lot of safe, broad, positive stereotyping here - quarrelsome but loving families, piñatas, lucha libre - which comes with the seal of approval of the Mexican Ministry of Culture as well as Playground's Mexican collaborators. (One bit of dialogue actually has a British festival organiser say, "I wasn't sure about doing piñatas in Mexico, until Ramiro [a Mexican guide] asked me where all the piñatas were," which is defensive but fair - some clichés are clichés for a reason.) It would be wrong to expect a deeper insight into Mexico from a racing game than from a package holiday, and Forza Horizon 5's surface-level celebration of the country is nothing if not earnest. Playground even has the self-awareness to include a storyline about annoying, rich, English tourist racers spoiling the fun for everyone else.

Yes, this is the latest racing game to strain to deliver story, and while I don't think narrative is ever going to be a natural fit for the genre, Forza Horizon 5's efforts have a clumsy charm - partly because they keep the stakes determinedly low and inconsequential. The Horizon Stories from Forza Horizon 4 are slightly more fleshed out here, thanks to the decision to give the player character a voice, and expand in theme to include a little light photography and history as well as a hymn to the Vocho, the Mexican VW Beetle. They're gauche but fun. There are also five Expeditions, which take the place of some of the Showcase stunt races from previous games. In these, you journey to open up new festival outposts with cinematic flourish, pausing on the way for a spot of contained exploration that's almost reminiscent of an Uncharted game.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Expeditions are part of a structural overhaul of progression that breathes new life into the campaign, even as it resists the temptation to organise it too much. All activities in the game are rewarded with Accolades - a kind of granular, bespoke achievement system - and it's through earning Accolade Points that you unlock new Adventures, which might be Expeditions, signature Stories, Showcases or epic races. This might sound a bit overworked - and it's true that the Horizon series will one day have to cull some of its redundant progression systems. (Skill Points only seem to unlock the ability to earn more Skill Points, and I'm not even sure what XP is for any more.) I was also disappointed that new events are once again dumped en masse onto the map with little attempt to guide you through them or through the car catalogue, which can feel overwhelming. But the Accolades are smartly designed and paced to reward many different play styles with steady progress - you really can unlock new Adventures just by playing online, grinding Drift Zones or taking photos - while the Adventures themselves give the game a spine and a notional end point that Forza Horizon 4 sorely lacked. Playground has pulled off an enviable tightrope-walk between structure and player freedom here.

In five games and nine years, Forza Horizon has undergone rapid expansion and complication but little fundamental change, for the best possible reason: because Playground Games knocked the concept out of the park on its first go. The studio's job is now to keep things on track while enforcing some semblance of order on this sprawling celebration of freedom. It's not always glamorous work, despite the shiny cars and picture-postcard destinations, and it shouldn't surprise or even disappoint you that Forza Horizon 5 can't offer the perfection of 3 or the bold new emphasis of 4. It is familiar in the best sense of the word: comforting, personable, tailored to you, welcoming to all. It's a dependable joy.

Forza Horizon 5 guide: What to do in your first few hours

How to customize and upgrade your cars, which races to run first, and more

by Owen S. Good

the futuristic interior of the Mercedes-AMG One, with a rectangular steering wheel and a tablet-shaped dashboard, in Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 launches Nov. 9 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC. It’s a huge open-world racing game (the largest map in the series to date) with tons to do.

Our Forza Horizon 5 beginner’s guide will help you focus your first few hours to develop a good, multipurpose racing setup; understand Forza Horizon 5 ’s progression, gameplay loop, and unlockables; and how you can buy, paint and customize cars for looks and performance.

When is Forza Horizon 5 available?

List of local times when Forza Horizon 5 unlocks for players

Forza Horizon 5 ’s $99.99 Premium Edition gave early access to buyers beginning Friday, Nov. 5. The base game itself launches Tuesday, Nov. 9, on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via both the Microsoft Store and Steam.

Those who bought the Deluxe or Standard edition may begin pre-loading Forza Horizon 5 now. It will unlock at 12:01 a.m., in your country’s local time , on Nov. 9.

Forza Horizon 5 is also available beginning Nov. 9 at 12:01 a.m. local time to all subscribers of Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It may also be preloaded from Xbox Game Pass right now.

Before you start: Check your settings

The difficulty options menu in Forza Horizon 5.

Forza Horizon 5 has lots of display, notification, and controller settings to set the game to your preference, and they’re available from the start menu before beginning the game. We recommend the following options in particular, for those playing on a gamepad.

  • Difficulty: Steering — We like Simulation steering (over Auto-Steering, Assisted, or Standard). The extra control is necessary if you’re taking off traction and stability assists, which we also recommend.
  • Difficulty: Traction Control — Set this to Off , mindful that you may need to turn it back on when driving high-torque supercars. Traction control does what it says (keeps you from spinning your wheels, especially at launch) but does so at a cost to acceleration, and this is vital when racing against higher AI difficulties.
  • Difficulty: Stability Control — Always leave this Off . Stability control also slows the car and makes it harder to sustain drifts when racing off-road. Like most racing games, you will need to take assists off to get the most out of your car, and to beat higher-level AIs.
  • Difficulty: Damage & Tire Wear — There is no XP gain from Cosmetic Only or Simulation damage. You just get a trashed-looking (or driving) car. We’d rather have fun without being worried about dinging up the car, so set this to None . Note: Your car will still get dirty, for those who like visual proof of their mud-bogging or rallying at the end of a race. You can reset the dirt and grime by opening photo mode (down on the D-pad), tapping the Left Bumper to Reset Cosmetic Damage, and accepting the prompt.
  • Difficulty: Rewind — Again, there is no XP gain from leaving this assist off. Set it On because it will come in handy when you’re trying to nail a jump or land a stunt that requires repeated attempts, or if you’ve missed a checkpoint. Rewind is also useful when you want to go back and revisit a moment for a beauty screenshot.
  • Advanced Controls: Steering Axis and Acceleration Axis — These will help fine tune your gamepad handling with stability and traction control off. Follow the on-screen instructions to give yourself a stick that doesn’t overreact to slight nudges, to control your car’s stability. This means, for steering, increasing the Steering Axis Deadzone Inside and decreasing the Steering Axis Deadzone Outside. For your traction, it means increasing the Acceleration Axis Inside and decreasing the Acceleration Axis Outside . You should not need to change it more than 5 or 10 clicks in either direction. You can adjust the Deceleration Axis Inside and Outside if you wish, but with Braking set to Anti-Lock On in the difficulty menu, you shouldn’t need it.
  • Video: Graphics Mode — Set this to Performance. It prioritizes 60 frames-per-second performance over resolution. The better frame rate helps you feel and understand your car’s responsiveness as you tune the inputs and the vehicle setup. It’s vital to a good-handling ride, and comes at almost no noticeable cost to Forza Horizon 5 ’s gorgeous visuals.

All of these settings can be changed in the game by pressing Start and then going to the Settings panel of the Campaign tab in the main menu.

  • Forza Horizon 5 review: A high-speed feast bigger than the heartiest appetite

Test your controls in the Introduction

Forza Horizon 5 begins with the familiar race-to-the-festival montage. You’ll be driving the 2021 Ford Bronco, the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe, the 1989 “Desert Flyer” Porsche 911, and the 2021 Mercedes-AMG One.

There’s no way to “lose” these races, and you can rewind as far as you want, for any reason. Use these sequences to get a feel for the different cars’ handling on different terrain. You want the Bronco to drift and slide without fishtailing, which means you need to be able to finish with a good counter-steer, one that doesn’t oversteer, at the end of the slide. At extremely high speeds, you want the AMG-One to make subtle, broad changes in direction rather than snapping to your inputs and spinning out.

Customize your character

A large list of dozens of nicknames Forza Horizon 5 can call the player

After the opening sequence, your driver will be introduced. Give them any look you prefer. (And don’t pay any attention to the obnoxious emcee trying to hustle you onto the stage. Mute the TV while you make your choices, if necessary.) If the user name associated with the Xbox account playing the game is in Forza Horizon 5 ’s audio library, the game will automatically call you by that name. You can’t change this name (or nickname) yet, but you can from the “Your Name” panel in the “My Festival” menu when you later visit Horizon Central, a House, or an Outpost. You also get to pick a vanity license plate to go on every one of your cars, in the style of the nation where it was built. This plate can also be changed later.

Drive your first big set-piece

A rally car launches off a ramp with a large cargo plane in the distance

After customizing your character and sitting through a cut scene, you’ll choose the car you want to drive first. Don’t worry — all four are already in your garage and can be driven later. Moreover, you won’t be racing with this vehicle in your first special event. So pick whatever looks most appealing for an open-world drive out to the event start location.

Your first event, “On a Wing and a Prayer,” will be in the 1994 Hoonigan Ford Cossie V2. It’s likewise very difficult to “lose” this event, and if you do finish second, it doesn’t matter. You get to keep the Cossie, and it will be handy in off-road and road racing scenarios.

Go on your first adventure

Forza Horizon 5 has several chapters that are unlocked as you acquires “Accolades,” a secondary form of XP. Technically, the opening sequence and “On a Wing and A Prayer” are the first two chapters. You get a sneak preview at your next chapter right afterward: You can find an old “Vocho,” or VW Beetle, or take a picture of a Mesoamerican totem in the middle of a sandstorm. It doesn’t really matter which you prefer to do. Both are the opening acts for later multistage chapters that will quickly unlock after about five events in the open world.

Compete in your first race

Winning screen showing a gold car in the background and a 2018 Mercedes-AMG as the first place prize.

The onboarding above takes about 30 to 45 minutes. After this, the whole map is yours. There isn’t much on it at first — tons more events will be available as you earn Accolades and are invited to start new chapters, which involve opening new hub outposts themed to a certain style of racing.

For the first race, we recommend Airfield Cross Country Circuit in the lower southwest of the map. It’s a lot of fun and uses the Cossie very well. After the race, head to the southeastern end of the airstrip and smash the Fast Travel board that is inside the crumbling hangar. That completes an initial accolade that delivers the 2003 Nissan Fairlady Z, a great drifting car that can be upgraded cheaply. [ Note: When the game tells you that you’ve been awarded an Accolade unlockable, you’ll still have to go to the Accolades screen (Start button from the Map) to collect it. If you’re not seeing something in your garage, check your Accolades for unclaimed gifts.]

Use the Fairlady, or the Corvette that’s in your garage (you may select a new vehicle before any event without retrieving it in-world) to compete in the nearby Aerodromo Drag Strip , a fun drag race worth some easy credits, XP, and accolade points. You may need to put traction control on to keep from spinning your wheels at the launch. A non-upgraded Corvette should be able to easily smoke the field at Highly Skilled AI difficulty.

For drag racing on automatic transmissions, there’s no need to manipulate the clutch at the start. Just hold down the right trigger and off you go. But for high-torque cars, or playing without traction control, you may need to feather the accelerator to get a smooth launch before dropping the hammer.

At the end of the airstrip is a Danger Sign , which means a big jump. Get a good head start and see how far you can go! Some special editions of Forza Horizon 5 will give you additional cars to start the game. We managed to launch the 2017 Ford GT (included in the Premium Edition) 1,872.6 feet — all the way into the river. You’ll need to go about 2,000 feet to clear it.

Customize your first car

This is a natural regrouping point to head back to Horizon Festival Mexico’s main hub and put your own personal brand on a car, now that you’re familiar with one or two. Drive to the hub and press X to enter it, which gives you access to the Autoshow, Auction House, Upgrades & Tuning, and Designs & Paints menus.

If you want to alter the Cossie, don’t worry; its elaborate livery is the “factory color” option. So you can paint it as you like, and always return to the original look with the first setting in that vehicle’s paint menu.

How to get your color exactly right

screen showing how you paint a car a different color in Forza Horizon 5

For painting the car with custom colors, Forza Horizon 5 uses HSB sliders. Select a color from the menu (special finishes, like matte, flake, and two-tone, are in the Special tab) and press X. This will bring up the sliders.

If you want to get your color exact, we recommend looking up the hex code of a color you have in mind ( htmlcsscolor.com and convertacolor.com are good resources) and then finding out what its HSB (sometimes called HSV) values are. Here is a simple spreadsheet that converts those values into their corresponding numbers in Forza Horizon 5 ’s sliders. Feel free to copy it to your own spreadsheet and use it for your own custom paint jobs.

Upgrading your car’s performance

Menu showing performance changes to the Hoonigan Cossie with an upgrades package

From the Upgrades & Tuning panel, you may either Auto Upgrade the car, which gives it parts taking it to the maximum end of a performance range (S2, S1, A, B, C, or D), or Custom Upgrade the car with individual parts (this is useful mainly for cosmetic parts, like spoilers or rims).

If you aren’t knowledgeable about actually tuning cars (things like camber, tire pressure, and differential) go to Find Tuning Setups . Here you will see community-created parts-and-tuning packages, with a histogram showing the areas in which they will improve (or reduce) your car’s performance. The Find Tuning Setups panel, and the ability to purchase and apply their parts, is also available before any race from the event’s menu. Leaning on others’ creations is a good way to be more certain you’re giving the car the qualities you want (better launch, better top speed, etc.).

Lastly, give your new ride its own horn! You’ll see the Car Horns tile in the Garage Tab. It’s under Barn Finds. There are a few dozen standard horns and many more musical horns and sound effects to unlock. (Yes, there is “La Cucaracha” and “Mexican Hat Dance.” There’s also the Microsoft Teams join-meeting alert.)

Your second race: Pick a road race

It’s a good idea to pick a road race on a hard surface to help you set your assists, dead zones, and controls for high-performance road and track cars, for the long haul. We ran the Emerald Circuit (western end, northwest of the airfield) in a Ford GT to find a sweet spot for acceleration and traction. Again, some cars are so powerful that you will need traction control. But use it only on the fastest ones in your fleet, as the hit to their acceleration won’t be as profound as it is on slower cars.

Go to your new home

A rally car parked in the driveway outside a home done in Spanish architectural style

After winning two to three events, the safehouse in Mulegé will open up for purchase. This is a kind of hub world that keeps you from having to go to the central festival to buy or upgrade cars. Some also come with perks and boosts. Mulegé’s Casa Bella unlocks Skill Songs, which double your XP when they’re playing on the in-world radio. The Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 5 , again, includes a VIP pass that makes La Casa Solariega near Teotihuacan free. “Buying” it unlocks 5 Super Wheelspins, which will add significantly to your in-game funds and fleet of cars. (If you bought the Standard Edition of the game, you can get the Premium Edition content for $49.99; Xbox Game Pass members get a $5 discount.)

After unlocking Casa Bella, you’ll have an opportunity to open your first outpost with the next chapter of Horizon Adventure. We chose to begin Horizon Wilds, which will open a dirt racing hub. Its exploratory route ends at the Airfield, again, and a Barn Find leading to the 1991 Jaguar Sport XJR-15. Going to the top of La Gran Caldera for Horizon Baja is also very fun, lands you a F-150 Prerunner Deberti, and opens the Cross-Country outpost and its races.

Play in the Arcade

A rally car in the foreground looking out over a steaming lake of glowing hot magma

From here on, Forza Horizon 5 opens up into a free-roaming game where you may spend lots of time discovering new activities, or blazing through favorite races in faster and faster times. It’s really up to you. Your cash reserves should be enough by now that you can splurge on one or two flashy rides, running 100,000 to 300,000 credits, at the Autoshow. This is a collection game, so go for it whenever you feel like it. Credits are awarded plentifully after every race, whether for completing them or in Wheelspins as you level up.

But take a moment to at least try the Horizon Arcade early on, which is a rotating set of timed objectives, usually involving destroying something. Horizon Arcade events are marked by a purple blob and a blimp icon on the map. Drive to its location, wait for the event to start, and follow the instructions at the bottom of the screen. Horizon Arcade is a productive way to rack up lots of money, XP, and accolades.

It may set the bar in open-world racing games for years to come..

In 2018, Forza Horizon 4 quickly ascended to the heights of the racing genre as the premier option for open-world fans. After millions of sales and a neverending stream of fresh content and updates, it's finally time for FH4 to step down and pave the way for its successor. Now, Forza Horizon 5 is officially here, and it has accomplished the impossible by delivering on its absurd levels of hype. FH5 is a racing masterpiece three years in the making, and solidifies the Forza Horizon franchise and Playground Games as the unchallenged champions of open-world racing.

For the first time, Forza Horizon 5 takes the long-running open-world racing series to Mexico, and it's a sight to behold. FH5 features huge upgrades to graphics over its already-impressive predecessor, a more accomodating campaign with branching paths and a solid narrative, the Forza car list at launch yet, and countless quality-of-life improvements to bring it all together. Forza Horizon 5 was only in development for one additional year over previous entries in the franchise, but enjoys such a massive leap in quality that it feels like it must've taken much longer.

I went into my Forza Horizon 5 preview concerned that the upcoming title couldn't live up to my lofty expectations, but left even more excited than before. Now, after an extended amount of time with the full game and hours of playtime under my belt, I can comfortably claim that Forza Horizon 5 is one of the best games of 2021, and another colossal victory for the growing Xbox Game Studios family.

Forza Horizon 5 Reco Image

Bottom line: Forza Horizon 5 is the culmination of all of Playground Games' efforts to perfect its craft, and the result is the best open-world racing game you can play. It combines the most beloved parts of Forza Horizon 3 and 4 into one ultimate racer.

  • Unparalleled visual quality and impressive performance
  • World that is a joy to explore
  • Huge roster of high-quality, customizable cars
  • Multiple ways to play online
  • Promised post-launch support with new content
  • Issues with customizing controls
  • Some minor bugs
  • Some features remained unchanged from FH4 or are missing

Forza Horizon 5: Visuals and sound

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Forza Horizon games have always been known for their class-leading visuals, with aging titles like Forza Horizon 3 still able to impress in 2021. This attention to graphics means it only makes sense to start there when reviewing Forza Horizon 5. From the moment you literally hop in (jumping out of a cargo plane, actually), you're blown away by impeccable texture quality across everything in sight; roads, terrain and rocks, foliage and trees, buildings and cars, all of it achieves a new level of greatness for the franchise.

The initial drive in Forza Horizon 5 does an excellent job capturing how great the game looks, tasking players with driving four distinct vehicles through a variety of environments (including a full-blown dust storm!) on their way to Horizon Mexico, the first Festival site that players can access.

Forza Horizon 4 was objectively a great-looking game, but Forza Horizon 5 tops its predecessor with major upgrades across the board, especially when it comes to lighting. The new lighting engine excels in every situation here. Reflections and shadows look fantastic, even without the use of ray tracing in general gameplay. New effects like sunlight filtering through the heavy humid fog of the dense jungle, and the bright flash of your headlights piercing through the newly improved particle smoke effects add much-appreciated bits of detail. Best of all, it plays well with the game's sky.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Like Forza Horizon 4, Playground recorded the real sky on location for hundreds of hours and handpicked the best bits, stitching everything together to achieve the majesty of the game's sky. This means it naturally evolves over time, with rolling cloud coverage that changes depending on where you are. The new tropical storms and dynamic weather events look beautiful and even a little intimidating, with a real sense of depth and scale that many games lack. The sky isn't a quality many people talk about in video games, but nothing escaped Playground's commitment to visual perfection.

Forza Horizon 5 sets an exciting precedent for what's to come from video game graphics

Forza Horizon 5 is vibrant and colorful, detailed and nuanced, and feels whole in its world and presentation. Everything has a place, and everything is in its place. Even the way the world is sculpted feels much more like a real place than a computer-generated world. Biomes blend together seamlessly; the terrain features huge variances in elevation; and the world is filled with vegetation and foliage, animals, buildings, and so much more.

I had already taken a road trip through Mexico in FH5 ahead of launch, but exploring the Forza Horizon 5 map more completely gave me even greater appreciation for what Playground has accomplished. Forza Horizon 5 is the best-looking game I've ever played. It sets a very exciting precedent for what's to come from video game graphics.

While Forza Horizon 4 had excellent visuals, the community generally criticized it for its comparatively lackluster audio design. The soundtrack was great, but car audio and ambient sounds left a lot to be desired. Luckily, the audio is unbelievably improved in the sequel. The studio reportedly recorded brand-new audio for over 320 vehicles, implemented the granular synthesis technology across the board to efficiently use the new recordings, and created a modular audio system that intelligently recognizes cars, engine types, and upgrades.

This results in visceral car audio that sounds crisp and varied across Forza Horizon 5's hundreds of cars and upgrades. Audio is always played at 90 FPS versus the game's default 60 FPS for greater reactive sounds, and it shows. Playground is clearly proud of its new audio improvements, as the studio included a new feature that lets you preview your car's engine noise as you upgrade various parts of the engine. Xbox Series X|S also takes advantage of a brand-new audio compression technique to unlock higher quality audio.

Audio feels alive in Forza Horizon 5, with sounds dynamically reacting to the environment

Advancements to audio are seen in other places, as well. Forza Horizon 5 may not use ray tracing in 100% of its visuals, but it does feature ray-traced audio, which means the sounds of your car's engine roaring as you tear through the canyon echoes off the cliff walls and reverberates back to you. At one point, I drove into a local amphitheater to find a Bonus Board, and immediately the powerful growl of my car's V8 bounced off the curved walls of the stage, completely catching me off guard.

Driving in first-person even feels more realistic, with your car's engine noise becoming muffled. If you choose to drive a convertible and pull the roof down, the audio immediately shifts to take this into account. Ambient noises are also beautiful everywhere, making it easy to stop and simply listen to nature's gentle sounds and wildlife with the radio off and the car in idle.

Forza Horizon 5: Gameplay and performance

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Once you get past how bloody gorgeous Forza Horizon 5 is, you sort of have to play the game. For those who have played past Forza Horizon games, this one should be familiar. You're let loose in an expansive open world filled with dozens of events, challenges, races, and more. It's up to you to figure out where to go, what to do, and what to drive. Forza Horizon 5 feels great to play for those who enjoy that kind of freedom, and it's exactly why it isn't just another racing game .

There are a myriad of quality-of-life improvements that elevate the gameplay experience over its precursors, but all-in-all Forza Horizon 5 is exactly what I expected it to be going in: more Forza Horizon, but bigger and prettier. There's nothing wrong with this, of course, as Playground has effectively perfected the Forza Horizon formula. Whether you're looking to push the settings to simulation-like levels or want to spend most of your time designing car liveries and exploring, Forza Horizon 5 has plenty to offer.

There are so many places Playground Games actively responded to community feedback and improved Forza Horizon 5, like with the newly redesigned and more accessible UI / UX that is quicker to navigate and use, an easy way to keep track of your car collection and campaign progress, a new and improved Festival Playlist, and more. However, there are a few features that weren't changed.

The animations for first-person driving, for example, don't look amazing, which is unfortunate considering the huge improvements to character creation. Role-playing gamers will be disappointed by the continued lack of options for turn signals, headlights, and turning the engine on and off, even if the addition of convertibles and race modes is a huge gain. There's also no 900-degree steering in first-person view, something that players have been requesting for years. Despite these missing features, I still had a blast playing Forza Horizon 5 the entire time.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

While you're playing Forza Horizon 5, you can also expect flawless performance. I noted in my initial preview how smooth it played in both Quality and Performance modes, and this experience has more than held up. I mostly played in Quality mode due to my propensity to take pictures and enjoy the scenery, but I never felt my experience suffered playing at 30 FPS. Performance mode makes smart cuts to texture pop-in, shadows and reflections, and other graphical settings to deliver a stable 60 PFS without compromising graphical fidelity. Loading times were also nearly instantaneous in both modes, including starting the game (even without Quick Resume).

I did encounter a fair number of issues in the beginning that concerned me, but 99% of the problems were reported to me beforehand and were subsequently fixed by a 21GB patch update partway through my review time. Afterward, I only encountered three bugs in my entire playthrough, and only one of those gave me real reason to pause. For instance, traffic cars had a tendency to fade in and out of existence when traveling at high speeds, but it was less of a problem after the patch.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

The only serious problem I noticed, however, is how I had trouble customizing my controls in Forza Horizon 5, an endeavor that bordered on frustration and may be a larger issue for those with accessibility concerns. The issues centered around the D-Pad on controllers, which features multi-level inputs for entering Photo Mode, changing the radio station, using the ANNA voice assistant, telemetry data for car tuning, text-to-speech, and using Forza LINK for multiplayer interactions.

Apart from an issue with rebinding controls, Forza Horizon 5 is nearly flawless

The D-Pad is responsible for a lot in Forza Horizon 5, and is supposed to have several layers of binding to function properly. However, attempting to change any of these bindings to, for example, switch the "switch radio station" and "Forza LINK" buttons, undoes every binding for the affected D-Pad button. I hope that Playground Games intends to fix the control bindings issue as soon as possible, as I could easily see how it could be more serious for players who aren't just trying to move things around a little and require more flexibility with their controls.

From both gameplay and performance standpoints, however, Forza Horizon 5 is still the best Forza Horizon game, pure and simple. Nothing about playing it made me miss any parts of Forza Horizon 4, and I literally could not find a single complaint about Forza Horizon 5's raw performance, the few bugs aside. I may have played on a beefy Xbox Series X, but the level of polish and stability on offer here makes me confident players will encounter similar (if appropriately scaled back) experiences on less powerful hardware.

Forza Horizon 5: Campaign and progression

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Being an open-world simul-arcade racing game, Forza Horizon titles haven't historically been laden with heavy narrative campaigns, and that doesn't change with Forza Horizon 5. However, Playground Games made the campaign in Forza Horizon 5 more clearly defined with new and memorable characters, great voice acting, plenty of cinematic cutscenes, and an end goal for players. In Forza Horizon 5, your goal is to progress through the Horizon Adventure, eventually reaching the vaunted Hall of Fame.

It took me a little less than 30 hours to complete the Horizon Adventure and be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame, and the exact path I took isn't likely to be repeated by anybody else. That's because the Adventure fully embraces player choice and freedom, to the point that you don't have to do most of the Adventure to eventually complete the campaign.

The Horizon Adventure fully embraces player choice and freedom

Progression in Forza Horizon 5 is tied to Accolades, which are earned by doing pretty much anything in the game, from completing a race to simply discovering a location for the first time. Earning Accolades nets you Accolade Points (and sometimes other rewards like cars and wheelspins), which contribute towards your Horizon Adventure. Once you collect enough Accolade Points to progress to the next chapter of the Horizon Adventure, you can choose what to unlock. So If you'd prefer to leave the races behind and focus on exploration, creative portions like liveries, PR Stunts, or anything else, Forza Horizon 5 will still ensure you're rewarded for your time and effort. Even better, Accolades continue after you reach the Hall of Fame, giving players continued rewards for playing and trying new things. There's even a Hall of Fame leaderboard, where players can compete to earn the most number of Accolades with friends or other players.

The Horizon Adventure itself is split into six categories, each relating to a Horizon Festival site and a category of race or event. Each category contains three to four unlocks. Once you've unlocked something in the Horizon Adventure, it becomes added to your map and you're automatically directed on how to get there.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Remember, you don't have to follow this path. The only parts of the Horizon Adventure you basically have to complete are the Expeditions, which are narrative missions that let you build new Festival sites to unlock races. Luckily, these Expeditions are some of the best parts of the Forza Horizon 5 campaign, with beautiful set pieces and enjoyable objectives and stories. Other parts of the Horizon Adventure include Showcases, new Horizon Stories (basically side missions with new characters), and ultimate races.

The Tulum Expedition, a particular high point, has you tear through the dense jungle and swamps during a terrifying tropical storm, stopping to explore ancient ruins buried deep within. I absolutely adored every moment of this Expedition, and it's definitely something I plan to return to time after time.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Some may lament that Forza Horizon 5 doesn't require players to start as a "nobody" and work their way through the ranks with terrible cars and no connections, but that's not the kind of game it wants to be. This is the ultimate sandbox for anyone with even a passing interest in exploring a giant beautiful world, unleashing their creative tendencies, or racing in meticulously rendered vehicles. You enter Forza Horizon 5 as the "superstar of Horizon UK" from Forza Horizon 4, and it's up to you to carve your own Horizon Aventure.

There are hundreds of hours of content in Forza Horizon 5

With just over 30 hours in Forza Horizon 5 at the time of writing, I still haven't even finished a third of what's available right now. I still have over 200 of the roughly 580 roads left to discover and drive down, several locations I've yet to explore, dozens and dozens of races, events, and PR stunts I haven't completed, and hundreds of cars I haven't collected or photographed. It would probably take me at least 100 hours to 100% Forza Horizon 5 if I wanted to, and that's not even considering the replayability of everything in the game, especially the online portions.

Forza Horizon 5 is big , which means it's likely every single player will take a different path to the Hall of Fame, and every single one of those paths is equally valid in the eyes of Playground Games. I haven't even touched on how Forza Horizon 5's Festival Playlist will continue to add new content and cars to the game over time, including evolving the world with new events, seasonal decorations, and more. Or how future DLC expansions will add huge amounts of gameplay in new areas. Forza Horizon 5 is massive right now, and it's only going to get bigger.

Forza Horizon 5: Multiplayer and online

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Every Forza Horizon game has been progressively more connected than the last, and Forza Horizon 5 is no exception. Playground Games has created its most connected game yet, while still giving solo and offline players a way to enjoy everything the singleplayer has to offer. Because of the limited number of people playing Forza Horizon 5 during my review period, I wasn't able to fully enjoy how FH5 will look after release, but I did get a taste of the various elements and features.

Forza Horizon 5 is now taking an MMO-style approach to its online multiplayer, in that all players online are connected to the same "Horizon Life" server, but, reasonably, you won't see all the players at the same time. Instead, it wants to guarantee that there will always be plenty of nearby players interested in participating in games and races with you. For example, if you're trying to get into a Horizon Arcade round, you'll automatically be connected with other players also attempting the same thing.

Forza Horizon 5 feels like a living game, with real people playing right alongside you.

This method is contextual in more ways than one. Besides always being able to find plenty of players to participate in Horizon Arcades, Tours, or online racing, the general world will also be populated by players just doing everyday things. In more populated areas like Horizon Festivals and cities, you're more likely to run into other players, while the wilderness will be more lonely. I didn't quite get to see exactly how this would work, but the idea is to make Forza Horizon 5 always feel like a living game, with real people all over the map playing right alongside you.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

I got to participate in a multiplayer session with other media members and the Playground Games team, where I tried out the improved Convoy feature, Horizon Open, Horizon Arcade, and Horizon Tour. Once connected, I didn't encounter any other issues beyond occasional desyncing from other players.

Starting with Horizon Open, this is the rebalanced online racing segment of Forza Horizon 5 that pits players against other players across road, dirt, cross-country, and drag racing, as well as a new drifting category. Ranked multiplayer is gone to help make Horizon Open more accessible and less intimidating, with less of a focus on pure winning, which is nice to see as someone who isn't amazing at racing.

After having a lot of fun with Horizon Open, we moved on to Horizon Arcade. This was one of the most interesting features of Forza Horizon 5's multiplayer for me, presenting you with a ton of different minigames that range from speed-based challenges to simply smashing piñatas. These minigames appear all over the map, and anyone can automatically join.

The highlight of Forza Horizon 5's multiplayer was, surprisingly, Horizon Tour

Horizon Arcade was filled with casual and lighthearted laughs and team-based collaboration, and I greatly enjoyed my time with it. Participating in Horizon Arcade also nets you Forzathon Points to spend at the Festival Playlist store, giving players additional incentive to join.

The highlight of my Forza Horizon 5 multiplayer session, however, was absolutely Horizon Tour. I hadn't given this feature much thought leading up to my review, so it caught me by surprise. It lets players team up in groups of six to take on teams of AI Drivatars in different races, which is more casual than Horizon Open and focuses even less on individual performance.

What made Tour special, however, is how players aren't teleported between races. Instead, your entire team can drive together as a convoy to the next race, letting you enjoy the scenery and spend time with each other. My team and I shared a lot of laughs, and the in-between cruises were special in a way that's difficult to describe. The drives were short, and made the world of Forza Horizon 5 feel even more connected overall.

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

Forza Horizon 5 seeks to differentiate itself from the competition by how it plans to evolve. This is due in part to Playground Games' commitment to the Festival Playlist, which will provide monthly updates with more content and new cars. The real secret of Forza Horizon 5's longevity is undoubtedly EventLab, which is a set of tools that players can use to create custom races and routes through Route Creator, obstacle courses and challenges through Super7, and entirely new game modes and events through EventLab itself.

In turn, it'll put many of the tools and features that Playground Games uses to build Forza Horizon in the hands of talented community members, including full power over scripting game rules. EventLab's possibilities are practically endless. Playground has even committed to surfacing the best EventLab creations through the Festival Playlist, giving players more incentive to experiment.

Smart changes to inclusivity, a more connected world with new minigames and collaborative races, and the potential for infinite new content through EventLab means Forza Horizon 5's multiplayer suite is, expectedly, the best we've ever seen in a Forza Horizon game . The only question at this point is how Forza Horizon 5's servers will hold under the strain of thousands of players rather than a few hundred.

Forza Horizon 5: Should you play it?

Forza Horizon 5 Screenshot

I may have completed the Horizon Adventure and successfully added my name to the Hall of Fame, but my time with Forza Horizon 5 is far from finished. Contained within this veritable masterpiece of a video game is hundreds of hours of content that promises to do nothing but expand over time. Players are actively encouraged to pursue whatever path they want, unlocking limitless possibilities in one of the most stunning and expansive open worlds in any video game.

There's still so much I didn't discuss in this review, like Forza Horizon 5's Barn Finds or Player Houses , all of which is there for players to discover on their own. This game is far too large to ever fit into one article, and that's by design. Forza Horizon 5 has enough room to accommodate all kinds of players, no matter what you're looking for in a game (unless, of course, you just really don't like cars).

Forza Horizon 5 is grand and beautiful. It also launches on more platforms simultaneously than any previous Forza game, giving people more ways to experience everything this game across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC , and Xbox Cloud Gaming through Xbox Game Pass . Absolutely a game of the year contender for 2021, Forza Horizon 5 is the quintessential choice among the best racing games .

Bottom line: Playground Games has proved that only it is capable of beating itself at crafting the best open-world racing game, as Forza Horizon 5 usurps its long-lived predecessor and firmly establishes itself at the top of the racing genre.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Horizon Tour Event list

Could you tell me (us) where we could find the custom tour events? I’m legit asking, as I have no clue. Thanks for the help.

I apologize for my inaccurate answer. I edited it to make it clearer, I hope.

To participate in a Custom Race, open the pause menu in free roam and select the Online tab. Next, scroll and click on Custom Racing. This mode allows players “to matchmake with likeminded players based on your desired racing parameters, such as PI class and type of race.”

As for Horizon Tour, it’s a type of co-op event where you do three races in a team with other players against a team of Drivatars. There’s a big green icon called Horizon Tour northeast of Horizon Festival Mexico site. Interact with it and sign up to the event, then wait until you’re placed in a race.

Spent a fruitless 45mins trying to find an s2 race but then accidently joined a B class event (pressed A instead of B), so thought i might as well race it. Drivatars all in untuned Velocirapters,I got pushed out of checkpoint at start so was well behind everyone.Soon caught up and then passed a line of 6 velocirapters nose to tail in one pass. Was funny and kind of pathetic all at the same time.

You are mixing two kind of races.

There are Horzon OPEN custom events. These you find following the advice from GU18R4NC0.

Forza Horizon 5 2022-04-27 0

they realy should release the shedule with multiple timezones listed to make it simple for us…

10.40 am uk time popped one up for me ,will try again at 18.40 to see if its an 8hr cycle.

What I thought just for a little bit of immersion would be for them to put a low-res texture of a calendar/schedule on the Tour building which players could go up to, press X and view the list of the events from there.

Although I love the mode you can tell PG just want people to dive in to any old Tour rather than looking for a specific one, when you’ve got what I think is 240 Tours spread over 8 hours adding a schedule in is just common sense.

That’s only if they wanted players to know what’s coming up though.

From what I understand (from hard work by others) there is a 24 hour cycle, so certain events are repeated several times within that. It isn’t an 8 hour loop.

I’ll add the one i did to your list and UK times 10.40 Not sure what race type, did it in a Mosler so either Extreme Track Toys or Anything 19.40 Hyper Cars 21.16 Anything goes 23.10 Extreme track toys

Ah right I just thought the numbers tallied towards being 8 hours.

C class CC still seems to be way overused, did 1 just now though in A class Iconic Movie Cars, different/rare restrictions like that are good to see.

Now that they have expanded the Tour with more races they need to implement a way of selecting the class of car rather than the timewasting waiting for them to change to the one you want.

No idea whether the devs will even care, but here… add your vote

https://forums.forza.net/t/publish-the-horizon-tour-schedule/546910

Is completely wrong; that’s not Tour at all.

Yes, apologies, the thread is so convoluted at this point I lost my spot. You are correct there is no “Custom Tour”. And you’re at the mercy of waiting.

Good news is, you can check the current tour, and if you don’t like it, just wait out the timer on it.

I agree, it would be nice if they had some way to do specific races, especially when required by a quest instead of basically making everyone guess and wait… I mean, great ploy for forcing people to use a feature they may not care that much about jsut to stress test it, but W/E right… LOL.

Sorry mate… Maybe they’ll listen since they bombed the tour with all these new events.

I really don’t mind the randomness of it . I just rock up and play the next race regardless

If you have structured play time, this sucks. I think this is the basic problem with the feature. They require it as a quest - but it’s a waiting game, with no posted schedule, and it was rough when it only had 30 event iterations now it has 230!!

To the Devs: Please publish the FH5 Horizon Tour Schedule.

It is absolutely unforgivable that you simply ignore basic information like this. Have you ever planned a trip abroad without consulting a train/ferry/plane schedule? Nope.

Having to sit and wait for a specific type of race to come up is a DISGUSTING waste of our time.

PUBLISH THE SCHEDULE!

Reference: I sat around waiting for an S2… not a single one in all the time I was waiting. ( I might update this with more, but if the dev’s did this instead…? )

  • Note: Hour is GMT+1 (British Summer Time)

I would like them to just add the option to choose the race type and car class like can be done for the custom open races.
