House of Läderach | Factory Tour - Live Production - Café ... a2a_config.icon_color = "#000";

Kurt Merki Jr. designed the House of Läderach, which opened its doors in November 2020, becoming the new headquarter and event location of the world-famous chocolate producer Läderach. Within only one year Kurt Merki Jr. and his team created/designed all spaces and attended to the entire implementation during construction.

Given the task to not simply design a new building but incorporating a factory store including live chocolate production, a museum, a walk-in atelier as well as a café Kurt Merki Jr. tackled the challenge by working out a clear red thread and including Läderachs family tradition into the storyline of not only the building but to every single room.

Thus he created a space where customers, as well as employees, are given the chance to sense the spirit of Läderach and get to know the company's values.

Starting with the exterior of the building, Kurt Merki Jr. chose a wooden panelling to create a warm and clean optic, inspired by the colour of cocoa, the basic ingredient of chocolate.

The Läderach gold letters are embedded and flush the facade while the “House of” letters are placed on top of wooden paneling, giving the facade an interesting play in depth.

Passing through the entrance door, visitors enter into the airy entrance hall, where again they are immediately reminded of the company's three corporate identity pillars: Freshness, Switzerland and Craftsmanship. Greeted by a huge chocolate sculpture placed in the center of the entrance hall, which was created by Elias Läderach, the World Chocolate Master and grandson of the founder of Läderach, visitors are free to choose which way they wish to go. They can get information and tickets at the welcome desk/reception and admire the so-called Master Wall right next to it, which is a tribute to Elias Läderachs Master title.

The World Chocolate Masters wall is made out of real cocoa beans, painted in gold, carries the pattern of the Elias chocolate masterpiece.

On the other side of the entrance hall, visitors can enter the factory shop whereas Kurt Merki Jr. intentionally changed the order of spaces and thus created a reversed customer journey. His intention was to emphasise the one thing Läderach takes the biggest pride in, namely producing truly fresh chocolate. And that is now displayed by the longest fresh chocolate counter in the world, where chocolatiers are creating fresh chocolate dreams in the Live Production round-the-clock.

The Live Production is placed directly opposite the Factory store.

From the factory shop, visitors can, if they wish to, proceed to the cafe on the first floor. And again Kurt Merki Jr. paid attention to keeping everything very open and without any inhibitions. People shall feel free to roam wherever and however they want to and always be inspired to explore. This being ensured by using the same flooring in every space, always adding elements of the overall style of retro elegance.

The Café itself follows this concept of freedom as well by offering different seating options while staying true to the fresh yet still warm ambience and touching the symbol of the cocoa bean in several details.

At the same time, customers can also choose to visit the Walk-in Atelier right next to the factory shop. Here again, Kurt Merki Jr. paid great attention to detail and organised the space in such a way that the customers have an unobstructed view of the Live Production while at the same time are provided with the option to create a piece of fresh chocolate art themselves.

From the cafe, one can directly enter the museum section of the House of Läderach. Here the interested can experience a tour through the world of chocolate and Läderach, whereas the tour is both guided and partially unguided. Kurt Merki Jr.’ focus here was to provide insights and enable the visitors to truly experience the journey of fresh chocolate, from the cocoa bean in the fields of Costa Rica or Ghana up to the packaging and shipping of the freshly produced chocolate products in Ennenda Switzerland, while at the same time also gaining more information about Läderach as a family and company. Thus he worked with elements like a tasting wall, a family room, a history wall but also an employees wall, creating the opportunity to gain knowledge in an interesting, playful and easy way. Along the way, visitors also pass by the specially designed and created chocolate fountain, from which the main three varieties of chocolate flow constantly and makes everybody’s chocolate heart skip a beat from delight.

Together with Läderach, Kurt Merki Jr. hopes to have created a one-of-a-kind fresh chocolate experience in the House of Läderach. , giving visitors the chance to roam freely and get insights on fresh chocolate production as well as the history of Läderach. The entire concept aims to facilitate freedom of movement and provide insights on fresh chocolate production as well as the history of Läderach. Last but not least visitors and guests shall also get a better sense of Läderach and the company's main vision and beliefs through the chosen design elements.

Live from Paris: Taylor Swift adds 'Tortured Poets' songs to Eras Tour in France

PARIS, France — The Chairman jump-started her tour after a two-month hiatus, and anticipation was high over whether Taylor Swift would incorporate her 11th era album into the Eras Tour set at La Défense Arena on Thursday.

She did and then some.

Swift extended the set list by one track to land at 46 songs. But many changes were made along the way. She added a new era for "The Tortured Poets Department," cut a handful of songs and rearranged most of the eras including combining the sets for "Folklore" and "Evermore."

She also debuted a number of new outfits along the way.

Delivering all the updates were Bryan West, the USA TODAY Network's full-time Taylor Swift reporter, from inside La Défense Arena in Paris, with Swiftie and trending reporter Anthony Robledo assisting from his desk.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

We hereby present the minutes from the first Eras Tour meeting in Paris, France.

More: Taylor Swift unveils new Eras Tour set list in Paris

'Midnights' set follows secret songs

Swift stuck to her original set list for the "Midnights" era by singing "Lavender Haze," "Anti-Hero" and "Midnight Rain." She ended the night with a triumphant rendition of "Karma" as usual.

'loml' is second secret song

Fans got one more taste of "The Tortured Poets Department" when Swift played the heartbreaking song "loml" on the piano during her secret set.

'Paris' is a secret song, of course

Swift started her secret set with "Paris," a bonus song from her "Midnights" album.

'Tortured Poets' set list

Swift played these songs from her newest album:

  • "But Daddy I Love Him"
  • "So High School"
  • "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me"
  • "Fortnight"
  • "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"
  • "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart"

New 'Tortured Poets' set is here

Toward the end of her show, Swift officially launched the long-awaited “The Tortured Poets Department” section of the tour after the 1989 era.

Swift performed the track “But Daddy I Love Him” off the April 19 album for her ecstatic fans while wearing a new beige dress with cursive letters.

A road spiraled down the catwalk in an animation to initiate the era. The background animation showed a deserted road while large cages animated and fell on the road.

“Oh my god you should see your faces,” she sang.

She quickly segued into a brief moment of “So High School,” the beloved track speculated to be about her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She quickly performed the powerhouse anthem “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me.”

Swift switched to “Down Bad” before seamlessly transitioning into the lead single “Fortnight.” Stage production recreated an asylum that resembled the music video for the song with Post Malone, recorded harmony played concluding the song.

Dancers entered the stage in a marching band style format playing drums as she performed the wrath-fueled song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” Jan Ravnik and Kameron Saunders then revived Swift in a jazzy skit to set up “I Can Do With A Broken Heart,” where she debuted another new outfit.

“The End” text displayed wrapping up the era that’s likely here to stay. Other beloved tracks like “Guilty As Sin” and “Florida!” did not make the cut.

New '1989' outfit

Swift never goes out of Style. During her “1989” set, she debuted a new, sequined outfit of blue and pink. Her sparkly shoes matched with a different colored heel on each. For the bridge of “Blank Space,” the crowd started chanting in Sydney, Australia, “Syd-ney” as a nod to the 1989 World Tour concert movie where Swift would chant the name of the city she was in after hitting a pole with a club two times. Singapore followed the chant and Taylor Nation tweeted they want every city to incorporate the fan-fueled chant. In Paris, thousands chanted “Par-ee,” the French way to say the capital city.

Swift made no cuts to the "1989" set.

Four songs cut from 'Folklore' and 'Evermore'

The new set list cut four tracks from the "Folklore" and "Evermore" eras:

  • "'Tis the Damn Season"
  • "Tolerate It"
  • "The Last Great American Dynasty"

The combined set included eight songs altogether and wrapped up with "Willow."

'Folkmore' set debuts

Swift revealed she merged the 2020 pandemic albums “Folklore” and “Evermore” into one section. She told fans she wrote “Folklore” to represent spring and summer with “Evermore” representing fall and winter in what she always considered sister albums.

“On the Eras Tour we have now reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter,” she said. “You can call it whatever you want as long as you promise to sing ‘Champagne Problems’ with me.”

'Folklore' set: 'Cardigan' makes the cut

Many fans had speculated "Cardigan" would be cut from the set list. But Swift actually moved it to the top of the "Folklore" set.

Up next: 'Reputation'

Swift kicked off her fifth set with "Ready for It?"

Another surprise: 'Speak Now' era comes fourth

Swift updated her "Speak Now" set with an intro dance featuring Raphael Thomas and eight other dancers wearing flowy purple dresses. She then sang "Enchanted."

Fan favorite track "Long Live" was cut from the set list.

Order of eras changed

After a fairly routine "Fearless" set, Swift altered her concert by including the “Red” era third instead of the expected “Evermore” set. Previously, "Red" came fifth.

With a new shirt that read “This Is Not Taylor’s Version,” the singer performed "22" and showed her audience that they needed to leave any expectations at home.

The relocated "Red" set included the same four songs: "22," "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "All Too Well (10-Minute Version)."

Beflore playing “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” Swift talked about bringing all of her favorite memories to France. She did her 2019 “Lover” live show here but hadn’t brought a tour to the country since the Speak Now World Tour 13 years ago.“I cannot thank you enough. I’m so moved," she said.

Follow along with set list changes here .

First set list change

Swift cut "The Archer" from her "Lover" set before beginning her "Fearless" set in a silver and black minidress as opposed to her classic gold one. A graphic showed her "Lover" house with a new addition in the attic for "The Tortured Poets Department." Her "Fearless" set remained the same with "Fearless," "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story."

More: Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' castle will soon host weddings

'Je m'appelle Taylor'

In her monologue before playing the song "Lover," Swift said the night would span 18 years of music. Previously, the concert covered 16 years. Get ready for a "The Tortured Poets Department" addition some time tonight.

She confirmed the tour would still go era by era, and also spoke about how Paramore is a band she idolized since she was a teenager. She ended with some French: "Je m'appelle Taylor."

First new outfit

Swift debuted a new, orange bodysuit and jacket for the "Lover" set.

Snippet of 'Tortured Poets' in intro

A snippet of the song "The Tortured Poets Department" was included in the intro music Swift kicks the concert off with. Is she foreshadowing other changes ahead? It seems likely.

Taylor Swift takes the stage

Swift took the stage about 8 p.m. in Paris (2 p.m. ET) to relaunch her Eras Tour in Europe. She kicked it off with a countdown clock and the Lesley Gore song "You Don't Own Me" as usual. Then she began her "Lover" set with "Miss Americana."

Paramore covers Blondie, Talking Heads in Paris set list

At the Paris show Thursday, Paramore energized fans with eight tracks including their cover off the upcoming “Stop Making Sense” tribute album out May 17 featuring artists like Miley Cyrus and Lorde.

Debuting a blond mullet, lead singer Hayley Williams encouraged fans to dance without fear of judgment ahead of Swift’s performance.

“Enjoy your time with Miss Taylor, we will see you next time,” Williams said.

Paramore's set list included:

  • "Hard Times"
  • "Burning Down the House" (Talking Heads cover)
  • "Caught in the Middle"
  • “Brick by Boring Brick”
  • “The Only Exception”
  • “That’s What You Get”
  • “Ain't It Fun”
  • “This Is Why”

Paramore begins their set

At about 6:45 p.m. in Paris (12:45 p.m. ET), Paramore began their set, officially restarting the second year of the historic Eras Tour. Lead singer Hayley Williams sported a new, blond mullet hairdo.

Paramore opens European leg of Eras Tour

The American rock band is joining Swift on her European leg of 51 shows. Paramore also opened the show for two nights in Glendale, Arizona, in 2023. Their setlist then included nine songs:

  • "This Is Why"
  • "That’s What You Get"
  • "The Only Exception"
  • "Still Into You"
  • "Rose-Colored Boy"
  • "Misery Business"
  • "Ain’t It Fun"

Where to watch the Eras Tour livestreams

The Eras Tour is one of the first tours that has been followed, globally, by thousands of fans on digital platforms. Fans dedicate part of their concert experience to livestreaming as Swift performs. Livestream Queen Tess Bohne has spearheaded the "Great War" to find fans going live on social media and broadcasting a custom show to tens of thousands of fans almost every night on her account @tessdear .

On YouTube, user @TaylorSwiftHockeyBro also livestreams the 3-hour show, and on Twitch, @folkleric is a host fans follow.

There is also an app, Swift Alert , that notifies fans who only want to watch certain eras like the acoustic, surprise set. The app also sends out push alerts if there are any major announcements.

What secret songs are left?

For the past 83 shows, Swift has had an acoustic set she customizes every stop with a guitar and piano performance. In 2024, the Eras Tour star added mash-ups of her songs for each stop. Here are the songs she has yet to perform:

  • Inside a New Long Island Home That Puts an American Spin on a Classic European Country House

The North Fork residence, dubbed "Vineyard House," was sold within days of being listed for sale at $3.95 million.

I first began to spend time on the North Fork back in the mid-1990s, and in the early 2000s took over the guesthouse of a friend’s funky live/work residence in the heart of the quaint maritime village of Greenport. Just down the block, a decrepit 19 th -century boat house stood an impressive three stories tall on a tiny parcel of land. Over the next few years, the old boat house was acquired, carefully restored and deftly transformed into a charming bungalow by its new owner, a young New York City-based architect named Gregory Tuck , who at that time was designing stores around the world for Ralph Lauren.

40817 County Road 48 Long Island North Fork Southold

Though I headed west more than a decade ago, Tuck, who now heads an eponymous architecture firm in Brooklyn, has retained a solid foothold in Greenport, though he’s since sold the old boat house and upgraded to a much grander home a few blocks away. Along with residential and retail commissions around the globe, from Australia to Russia to the Maldives, Tuck has also completed several projects in Greenport and elsewhere on the North Fork, including Vineyard House, a brand-new residence on more than four secluded acres in the town of Southold.

The main house, 4,200 square feet with five (and potentially six or more) bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, was positioned on a slight rise to enhance the views over the surrounding landscape, both from inside the home and from its numerous porches and terraces. Two ancillary structures, a detached three-car garage and an open-air poolside cabana, were proportioned and positioned to allow the home to take center stage within the landscape.

“What we envisaged from the very beginning was to create an American interpretation of a classic European country house here,” Tuck told  Robb Report . To that end, a careful selection of antique and vintage elements was sourced to add a sense of history and permanence. The 9’4” solid mahogany doors at the front entrance come from a 19 th -century brownstone in Brooklyn, and, in the corridor between the dining room and the kitchen, a 17 th -century solid walnut buffet was built in to serve as the butler’s pantry. The rare piece, in fact, determined the shape of the service area that includes a walk-in food pantry and a mudroom that’s as beautifully finished as the elegant staircase in the center hall entrance. Other design details that add to the home’s historic character include wide-plank white oak floorboards, wainscot paneling, plaster walls, and polished brass fittings.

Upstairs are a total of five bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus a laundry room. Two of the bedrooms are suitable as a primary suite, both with a windowed dressing room and ensuite bath, and one with a fireplace and the other with a 500-square-foot private terrace. The 2,200-square-foot basement area is unfinished, but plans provided by the architect show there’s plenty of room for a sizable home cinema, a 750-bottle walk-in wine cellar, a spacious ensuite bedroom, a second laundry room, a 420-square-foot gym, and a ton of storage.

Several porches around the home are perfect for quiet tête-à-têtes, while the kitchen, the living room and the library/TV den all spill out onto a spacious bluestone terrace for convivial indoor-outdoor relaxing and entertaining. The 40-foot-long swimming pool and the pool house are aligned with the façade of the main house and enclosed by fencing that will become invisible behind a double row of hedging. The cupula-capped pool pavilion includes a central open-air lounge with a changing room to one side and a pantry kitchen and powder room to the other. A ring of dense woodlands adds to the sense of idyllic seclusion.

“Vineyard House” came up for sale earlier this month and, lickety-split, within days had landed a buyer who will reportedly seal the deal for somewhere near the $3.95 million asking price. Kristy Naddell at Douglas Elliman represented the seller.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Amanda Batula insists she and Jesse Solomon are just friends.

After fans noticed some flirty social media banter between the “Summer House” co-stars, Batula –– who is married to Kyle Cooke –– took to TikTok to shut down any further romance speculation.

“You guys are out of control,” she said in a video shared Tuesday, in response to a comment about the recommended automated search for Batula’s videos being about Solomon. “This is what you’ve done to the search bar on my videos now. Enough! It’s never gonna happen.”

Batula, 32, made the video after fans flooded the comment sections of her various social media platforms. Many inquired about her and Solomon’s friendship after seeing some of the playful comments he’s left on her posts over the last few weeks.

“I hope your future kid doesn’t get bullied for having the hottest mom,” Solomon wrote under a selfie Batula shared on April 5, to which his co-star responded with, “Jesse stop flirting with me” and “*prints out and frames comment*.”

In another post of Batula wearing a red-and-white dress at a wedding –– with Cooke –– Solomon wrote , “MILF in training.”

Solomon, 30, continued his commenting spree by writing ”Holy f–kamole” under a series of photos of her posing in an off-the-shoulder yellow dress at a different wedding.

Most recently, Solomon commented under a dump Batula shared that featured her and her co-stars partying on a boat day that was shown on last week’s episode of “Summer House.”

“Just gassing up my queen again 😍🧎‍➡️,” he wrote on Wednesday.

For her part, Batula has also left a few friendly messages in the comments section of Solomon’s Instagram posts.

She joked about having her eyes closed in a group snap he shared, jokingly asking, “Why do you hate me?!!??” to which he replied, “lol whoops you look so hot in the video tho!!”

Solomon has not directly addressed the banter. However, he did say that Batula was “amazing” and that she “tickled [his] fancy” during his appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” last week.

Batula has been married to Cooke since September 2021 after dating for six years. Some of their marital issues –– including what their future looks like –– have been playing out on the current season of “Summer House.”

Checklist: 10 things to look for when touring a home.

May 13, 2024

house of laderach tour

You can learn a lot about your potential future home — both good and bad — when you walk through it. Here’s what to keep an eye out for at an open house.

When you’re shopping for a new home , open houses can be your only opportunity to thoroughly evaluate the property before you make an offer — so it’s important to make the most of them.

For starters, try not to get distracted by home staging. Sellers can spend thousands of dollars gussying up their homes in the hopes that buyers won’t notice potential flaws or problems with the property. Smart shoppers know to look past the smell of freshly baked cookies and the spotless, on-trend décor.

Instead, try to imagine what can break, what you might need to replace, and what features may bother you later. “Doing so will have such a crucial impact on your happiness and financial security,” says Andrew Perroy, a general manager with Honey Homes maintenance service.

As you embark on the open house circuit, bring along this checklist of features to look for, which can help you decide whether to move forward with an offer — and how much to bid. Remember, this doesn’t take the place of having a professional inspection once your offer is accepted.

Look for structural problems

Before you fall in love with a property, you’ll want to know what potential major repairs you could face.

1. Signs of foundation issues. A weak, deteriorating or uneven foundation can become a costly problem. “Look at all the outside lines of the house, both vertical and horizontal,” Perroy says. “Do they look straight?” Inside, keep an eye out for diagonal cracks in the walls, difficult-to-open windows or doors, and sloping floors, which can all point to a potentially larger issue. (To judge how even the floors are, bring a marble that you can drop.)

2. Evidence of water damage. Leaks — both from water seeping in from the outside or from cracked pipes inside — can cause serious damage over time. Telltale signs include warped floors or stains on the ceiling. “A lot of people don’t look at the ceilings during an open house, but you should,” say Chelsea Ialeggio, vice president of business development and brokerage at online real estate platform Aalto. “Bring a flashlight and look up to see if there are any signs of drips, water intrusion or past repairs.”

Estimate the cost of future renovations

Try to get a sense of how much to set aside for upgrades so you can factor that into your overall budget.

3. Condition of the roof. Replacing or fixing a roof can be one of the costliest home maintenance jobs , so you’ll want to know what you’re dealing with. In addition to asking the age of the roof, look for loose or missing tiles or shingles and the appearance of sagging anywhere around the outside.

4. Age of the systems. If you’re planning to replace the appliances, take note of their size (bring a tape measure) and consider whether more modern ones will easily fit or if modifications, such as installing new cabinetry, are required. Bigger systems, such as the water heater and HVAC system, will often have a sticker on them that shows their age or the last time they were serviced.

5. Flooring materials. Unless you’re planning to leave the floors untouched, consider what’s involved in updating them. In most cases, hardwood floors can simply be sanded and stained. Replacing laminates and switching out wall-to-wall carpeting will cost more for materials but potentially less in labor.

Imagine what living there will be like

Picture your things in the house — and your family walking the halls and enjoying the space.

6. Floor plan. While the best home layout is a personal preference, it’s worth thinking about whether the flow works for your lifestyle. If you like hosting dinner parties, for example, you might want a formal dining room, while those with young children might prefer an open floor plan.

7. Storage space. A well-staged house won’t have any clutter, but you’re going to move in with all your stuff. Does the home have enough closets and other storage spaces for you to easily stash away all your clothes, dishes, books, toys and other belongings?

8. Available parking. How easy was it for you to park for the open house? If you have more cars than the house has garage space or room in the driveway — or if it doesn’t have a garage at all — consider whether you’ll have an easy time finding a place to park on the street. Also, if you like to entertain, is there room for guests to park? If you tour on a weekend, you may want to check this out during the week as well.

9. Nearby houses. Take a walk around the neighborhood to get a sense of the community and whether you can see yourself (and your family) there. Tidy lawns and well-maintained homes are a good sign that your potential future neighbors take pride in their properties.

Assess the competition

Especially in a seller’s market like today’s, pay attention to who else is taking a tour.

10. Size of the crowd. A well-attended open house could be a sign of robust interest and multiple offers to come. If that’s a concern, you might consider making a higher or stronger bid as a start in negotiations.

'World's largest bounce house': Big Bounce America 2024 tour coming to Greece park

Get ready to jump Rochester. The Big Bounce America 2024 tour , home to the World's Largest Bounce House, is on its way.

From Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2, you can experience the world's largest touring inflatable event with its seven massive inflatable attractions at Grace and Truth Sports Park in Greece.

Produced by XL Event Lab, the massive inflatable event is said to have gotten "a whole lot bigger, better and bouncier for 2024!"

Here are some inflatables you can expect to see:

The World's Largest Bounce House

This inflatable goliath now covers an area of over 24,000 square feet and stands 32 feet tall at its highest point. Inside it, you'll find giant slides, ball pits, climbing towers, basketball hoops, and a custom-built stage where the resident DJ will play music and games tailored to each age group. Sessions will be organized by age, ranging from tiny tots to adult-only sessions, so people of all ages are welcome to experience this massive bounce house.

Brand new for 2024, this inflatable is part bouncer and part foam party. Upon entering, this inflatable is said to be like jumping into a deep-sea world filled with colorful ocean creatures, colossal foam cannons and Live DJs spinning from a huge pufferfish stage. Get ready to jump, dance and sing around its giant Octupus's tentacles.

This customized sports arena will be filled with goals, nets, hoops and balls of every size. Compete against family and friends by racing up the climbing tower or taking them on in the ‘battle zone’ to see who can stay on their podium the longest.

If you're looking for a Ninja Warrior type of bounce house, this one is for you. The Giant is over 900 ft. long and includes 50 different obstacles to overcome as you make your way through the course to the grand finale monster slide.

Spreading across three different inflatables, the airSpace is said to be a unique, space-themed wonderland filled with friendly aliens, spaceships, moon craters and more. This immersive inflatable has a huge 5-lane slide, a 25 ft. tall alien at the center of three bottomless ball pits and a giant spaceman jumping around the moon space.

Tickets and Pricing

All-Access Tickets are available online and include a three-hour pass to the event, a timed session on The World's Largest Bounce House and unlimited access to OctoBlast, Sport Slam, The Giant and airSpace. Tickets start at $22 but are expected to sell out so advanced tickets are encouraged.

House passes bill that would make ticket sellers show total prices upfront

It comes after the taylor swift eras tour fiasco on ticketmaster..

By Lauren Feiner , a senior policy reporter at The Verge, covering the intersection of Silicon Valley and Capitol Hill. She spent 5 years covering tech policy at CNBC, writing about antitrust, privacy, and content moderation reform.

Taylor Swift

The House passed the TICKET Act 388-24 on Wednesday, which would force ticket sellers to show consumers total prices (including fees) upfront and guarantee refunds when events are canceled or postponed.

The bill would still need to pass the Senate and be signed by the president to become law, but the overwhelming support in the House is a positive sign. The legislation comes after the Ticketmaster fiasco around Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour tickets , where the ticket-selling platform canceled general sales after high demand it later partially blamed on bots. That prompted lawmakers to haul its top exec from its parent company, Live Nation , into a hearing. In the wake of the disaster, The New York Times reported that the Department of Justice was investigating Live Nation over whether it violated antitrust law by abusing its dominance in the live events industry.

Meanwhile, eliminating junk fees has been a key focus of the Biden administration through the president’s competition agenda and executive order and actions by the Federal Trade Commission . Junk fees are the hidden fees that often pop up later in the buying process, like processing fees or service charges that inflate the overall price.

The TICKET Act would add extra protections for consumers seeking to buy tickets online, like banning speculative ticketing or selling a ticket without actually possessing it. It would also prohibit ticketing and resale sites from certain deceptive practices, like using URL names that sound like an official venue, to crack down on fraud.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Appear in New Footage from Surprise Stop During Nigeria Trip

Save the Children U.K. CEO Gemma Sherrington called it "phenomenal" that the couple took time to meet with young people

  • New footage revealed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's visit to Save the Children during their tour of Nigeria
  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with two youth ambassadors to learn more about the organization's ongoing work in the country
  • Prince Harry and Meghan previously supported the organization on Prince Archie's first birthday in 2020

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made an under-the-radar charity visit during their recent trip to Nigeria .

On May 16, Save the Children U.K. revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with the nonprofit's staff and two youth ambassadors in Abuja during their three-day tour last week. The event was facilitated and chaired by photographer Misan Harriman, a global ambassador for Save the Children. Harriman is a friend of the couple and photographed their trip to Nigeria, where he was born.

Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, posed for photos with Save the Children staff, Harriman and Youth Ambassadors Maryam and Purity during the meeting, where they learned more about the charity’s ongoing work in Nigeria. Maryam, 23, and Purity, 19, told the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about their efforts to address a slew of issues, including child marriage, gender-based violence, access to education and healthcare and the plight of displaced children.

"This charity recognizes the importance of having young people's voice at the forefront, not just as advocates, but as decision-makers. And that is absolutely crucial, because you know better than anybody else what is going on, what are the conversations are that are happening but also it's your future," Prince Harry said in a video shared to Instagram by the organization.

"We won’t stop, every one of us. Every one of us has a role to play through our advocacy, our voices, our financial support, volunteering. So we hope to see a positive change and a better future for Nigeria," Purity added.

According to statistics from Save the Children, one in 10 children in Nigeria dies before they turn 5, three in 10 girls are married by age 18 and 10 million kids are out of school. The statement explained that Nigeria also has one of the highest rates of "zero dose children," who have never received a routine vaccine. During the stop, Prince Harry and Meghan learned more about Save the Children’s new partnership with British pharmaceutical company GSK to help solve the problem through new immunization programs, funding to support local organizations and youth-led advocacy.

Connecting back to the couple’s advocacy around greater global vaccine access , Save the Children U.K. CEO Gemma Sherrington said in a statement, "We were thrilled to share information about this innovative partnership with Duke and Duchess of Sussex in light of their long-standing interest in vaccine equity."

"We’re honored that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took time out of their busy schedule in Nigeria to learn about the work Save the Children does, alongside our youth advocates and partners, to ensure children don’t just survive but thrive,” Sherrington said. "Child Champions and Youth Ambassadors are the beating heart of our work in Nigeria so for two of them to have this opportunity to speak with Prince Harry and Meghan, and to shine a spotlight on their tireless advocacy to protect the rights of children, is phenomenal."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have partnered with Save the Children before, releasing a sweet video of Meghan reading the picture book Duck! Rabbit! for son Prince Archie ’s first birthday in 2020 in collaboration with the organization’s #SaveWithStories campaign, launched to help kids adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Prince Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation donated funds to the charity for the humanitarian flood response in Nigeria.

Harry and Meghan hit the ground running when they arrived in Nigeria on May 10, in a visit significant as their first international tour since stepping back from their royal roles in 2020. The whirlwind tour championed the Archewell Foundation's mental health initiatives for young people and Prince Harry's Invictus Games , which Nigeria participated in for the first time last year. Throughout the trip, Meghan also spoke about feeling a connection to the country after discovering that she is 43% Nigerian.

Speaking with PEOPLE on the tour, Prince Harry says, "These trips are about us being able to go out and go and focus on the things that mean so much to us. And being able to be on the ground, to us, is what it’s all about."

"It's really meaningful. Just being able to connect to people... that's what makes it special,” Meghan tells PEOPLE.
