Small Town, Big Experience.

There’s something very special about this place..

You’ll sense it when you stand under the oaks at Toomer’s Corner. You’ll feel it when you’re greeted by your future classmates on the red brick sidewalks that snake through campus. You’ll know it when you hear “War Eagle” shouted across Samford Lawn.

Your campus visit to Auburn will feel both familiar and exciting: like coming home again for the first time.

Scheduling a Campus Visit

What to expect from your campus tour..

We start with a 30-minute information session, where you’ll learn about:

  • Academic offerings at Auburn
  • The admissions process
  • Scholarships
  • The Auburn community

Next, a 75-minute walking tour, led by a Student Recruiter, will focus on Auburn’s history, tradition, and student life. Don’t be surprised if current students say “hey” or “War Eagle!” as you pass. It’s in our DNA to be welcoming to all who visit campus.

University Housing

On-campus housing.

Auburn University Housing (AUH) offers on-campus housing accommodations for undergraduate students in seven residential communities consisting of a total of 24 residence halls. Additionally, Auburn University Housing also offers returning residents the opportunity to live at 160 Ross, 191 College, and South Donahue. The University does not offer on-campus housing accommodations for graduate students. All residence halls offer a variety of amenities and are within walking distance to classes, dining locations, recreational areas, laundry facilities, mailrooms, and the library.

Residence halls in the Hill, Cambridge, and Quad communities are suite style: two students share a room that is connected by a bathroom to another room shared by two students. In Cambridge, two students share a room and have a private bathroom attached. The Village community residence halls are primarily configured in four bedrooms, two bath units: four students each have their own bedroom and share a bathroom with the roommate on their side of the suite. The Village also features a kitchenette and common space shared by all students in each unit. South Donahue Hall features mostly two-bedroom units as well as a few one- and four-bedroom units. All units in South Donahue share a common area and kitchenette. Housing for students with disabilities is available in all residential areas.

Apartment units at 160 Ross and 191 College come fully furnished and are either four bedroom or two-bedroom units. Additionally, these complexes offer a variety of amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, direct tiger transit route from 160 Ross to campus, study lounges, and an outdoor community area with a pool and hot tub.

University Housing hosts several special interest communities across campus. Honors College members can request to live with other members in Honors College halls in the Quad and Village. Residential Learning Communities based off similar interests or academics are located in the Quad and Village. Panhellenic sororities on campus can live on their sorority specific hall located in the Village. For more details on special interest communities, floor plans, rental rates, and amenities, please visit the University Housing website at universityhousing.auburn.edu.

Each residence hall is staffed by undergraduate student, graduate student, and professional staff members who oversee the daily operations of the residence hall and foster communities that are engaging, supportive and inclusive. Undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs) provide social and educational programs for residents that are designed to engage students, advance learning, encourage leadership and prepare students for future success. RAs are directly supervised by our Graduate Area Coordinators (GACs). All hall staff members are trained and supervised by full-time Residence Life professional staff members. AUH staff also ensure resident compliance with any department, university, and community rules and regulations.

Admission to Auburn University does not automatically include a room reservation, and first-year students are not guaranteed housing. Priority for housing requests is generally based upon the date the application is received. A $100 non-refundable application fee and a $200 non-refundable pre-payment are required with the housing application.

Auburn University students tackle urban challenges in new education hub in Birmingham

by Kyra Purvis

Former Hood McPherson building renovated into Auburn Education Hub, (abc3340.com)

Birmingham, AL (WBMA) — Auburn University has opened a new education hub in Birmingham. The hub was built within the former Hood McPherson building on 4th Avenue North.

The facility will hold instructional, collaborative and administrative space for the College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC), Harbert College of Business and provost’s office.

The CADC will feature a state of the art Urban Studio. There third year and fifth year students will seek out problems to address within the city. They will then identify potential solutions and present them to developers.

Urban Studio director Alex Krumdieck says students will live within the city so they can better identify problems.

"If you don’t understand the problem and you don’t truly understand the situation that’s occurring on the ground it’s very difficult to respond to that problem. Being able to understand the community on a day to day basis basically changes [a student's] perception and approach to any project,” said Krumdieck.

Students have been successful in these efforts in the past. The creation of Pepper Place Farmer’s Market and Railroad Park green space were both Urban Studio projects.

“They haven’t been told no very often so they challenged the status quo a lot and they ask a lot of questions as to why," said Krumdieck, "Many times they may question the direction we were heading in and the city can make adjustments changes.”

  • SEE ALSO: Around 4,700 jobs expected with development of new Jefferson County industrial park
  • SEE ALSO: Summer feeding programs offered at hundreds of sites across Alabama

The new studio can hold 75 students compared to only 30 students in years past.

Each student will be provided with a local internship with Birmingham companies, many of which are offered jobs upon completing the program.
