Katy Perry announces UK and European tour dates

Katy Perry has announced the details of the UK and European legs of her ‘Witness’ tour.

The 32-year-old pop star is poised to release her much-anticipated fifth studio album on June 9 and Katy has revealed, via her Instagram and Twitter pages, that she is to extend ‘Witness: The Tour’ to include gigs in a host of European countries, starting in Cologne, Germany, on May 23.

Subsequently, the ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ hitmaker will perform in Belgium, Holland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Scotland, before she closes her tour on June 25 with a show at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena.

Alongside a promotional video for her tour, Katy wrote on Twitter: “HELLO, HALLO, CIAO, BONJOUR! I can’t wait to [see] you, UK/Europe! Tickets on sale Friday 9 June (sic)”

In total, Katy will play six gigs in England across six different cities, between June 14, when she will perform at London’s O2 Arena, and the end of her tour.

Before then, Katy is to perform at Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester concert on Sunday (06.04.17), which is being staged in aid of the victims of the recent terrorist attack at Manchester Arena.

The star-studded event at Emirates Old Trafford will also feature performances from the likes of Take That, Niall Horan, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, with Ariana poised to take a central role on her return to the city.

I saw Katy in concert for the Witness world tour for my birthday. It would be a lie to say I wasn’t completely blow away. I’ve been a fan since 2014 but fell out of interest for a little while. After seeing Witness in concert though I was immediately hooked on again.

Katy keeps your attention and makes your experience about more than music. She makes even people who aren’t fans have a great time and enjoy themselves. My cousin went with me and doesn’t even like Katy yet she was dancing and singing along.

It was a rewarding experience and definitely worth your money! From the lights, to the music, to the stage, to the effects, to dancers, to just Katy herself everything was on point.

Over all I can’t wait to seeing her again!

Two words: SO AWESOME. The lights, the outfits, the love. She came on stage with a sparkly red outfit and came out of an eyeball. She sang some songs in the outfit like Chained to the rhythm and Dark Horse. Then she sang a lot of throwback songs all at once, she sang hot n cold (with a bra that changed from hot to cold) , California Gurls, Last Friday night, E.T, teenage dream, and I kissed a girl. Then she got a huge almost desert setup, I even think there was a stripper pole for Bom appetit. Then she was flying on a planet while in a sparkly white outfit. She sang wide awake, power, thinking of you, and she invited a fan onstage. It was cute. Then she got in a blue outfit and sang Swish Swish, hey hey hey, and roar. Then she went off stage. Then came back for the encore, which was a slower version of Firework. Definitely recommend seeing her live.

The concert was a disappointment.

Having purposely flown over to singapore to see her, leaving my toddler and baby behind with my parents in the hotel, we were expecting an entertaining performance based on reviews on her tour. However, It has proven otherwise.

Felt that her effort wasn't there and that there's not much stage presence. Keeps disappearing behind stage for her attire etc.. We don't get to see her enough on stage. She didn't really captivate the crowd and seems like she's only doing the concert for the sake of doing it only. The singing was pre-recorded at some parts - dancing was not energetic.

The part where a fan was invited to stage was pretty interesting. That made everyone smiled. Wish she could have done more like that - connect with the crowd with her singing. Thought the prismatic effect was very cool. Aside from that, this is by far the most boring concert we've been to :(

Katy Perry announces support acts for UK and EU tour

Tove Styrke and Hailee Steinfeld are joining the run

Katy Perry has announced the Tove Styrke and Hailee Steinfeld are set to join her upcoming UK and European tour.

The ‘Witness’ tour kicks off in May, with a series of European dates leading into a UK run, which wraps up in late June.

Styrke, who appeared in  NME ‘s 100 essential new acts for 2018 , came third on Swedish Idol in 2009. Since then, she’s been honing her craft to perfection and winning hearts across Europe – namely her pan-European hit ‘Say My Name’ .

Steinfeld, meanwhile, made her name as an Oscar-nominated actress, before launching a pop career in the wake of her appearance in the  Pitch Perfect  series.

Katy Perry’s ‘Witness’ tour hits the following UK and European spots later this year.

Addressing the song’s controversial lyrics, Perry recently told  Glamour : “We’ve really changed, conversationally, in the past 10 years. We’ve come a long way. Bisexuality wasn’t as talked about back then, or any type of fluidity.”

“If I had to write that song again, I probably would make an edit on it,” she said. “Lyrically, it has a couple of stereotypes in it. Your mind changes so much in 10 years, and you grow so much. What’s true for you can evolve.”

KATY Perry is ready to bring her pop perfection back to the masses next year.

We have been told the chart-topper has been hard at work on her seventh studio album — her first since 2020’s Smile — and has almost completed the project.

In even more exciting news she is planning to tour the UK again after a break of six years.

She has spent the past two years performing a hit residency in Las Vegas and is now ready to get back out to the rest of the world.

A music insider said: “Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years.

“She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before.

“But after so long spent on the West Coast of the US , she feels ready to tour again.

“The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.

“The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”

She said in 2019 that she had grown tired of flying around the world .

But in May this year she said: “I still love making music. I still love spreading light and love.

“I know there’s a lot of people who couldn’t make it to Vegas.

“The last time I was on tour was in 2018. I’m due to go out and see the kids that couldn’t make it to Vegas.”

Place of love

Earlier this year Katy, who performed at King Charles’ Coronation concert , also hinted at the subject of her new music — her daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom .

She explained: “I haven’t put any new material out since my darling Daisy.

“I think I’m writing a lot and have written a lot from a place of love because I’m feeling so much of it — so much unconditional love, that love you never knew existed.”

With 15 Top Ten singles, including No1 hits I Kissed A Girl, Roar and California Gurls, Katy is one of the most colourful, vivacious and fun pop stars of the 21st century.

Getting her back on stage here, along with new music, will be a real treat.

SOPHIE Ellis-Bextor has signed up to headline an intimate one-off concert to highlight the loneliness which disabled people can experience.

The Murder On The Dancefloor singer will perform at the Stop The Shadows night at London’s Hard Rock Cafe on January 23, which will be hosted by Men Behaving Badly actor Neil Morrissey.

The event, organised by Able2UK, will also feature a performance from The Kooks’ Luke Pritchard as well as interviews with comedian Josh Widdicombe and music legend Tony Christie.

CLAIRE Richards has admitted she spends a fortune on skincare treatments to stay young – and it’s clearly working.

The Steps singer , who released second solo album Euphoria this year, is so eager to look youthful that she says she feels like Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep’s characters in 1992 comedy horror flick Death Becomes Her, where they drink a cursed magic potion that promises eternal youth.

She said: “The one thing that I spend money on is treatments on my face because I don’t want to get old.

“I’m going to be drinking that Death Becomes Her potion if I can get my hands on it.

“I have HydraFacials once a month and I’ve had this thing called Profhilo, which plumps up your skin .”

But the most extreme measure that she has resorted to so far is a microneedling treatment which is believed to stimulate collagen – and costs more than £500 a time.

Claire said of it: “I’ve had Morpheus8. It hurts but it’s worth it.”

He said wife Izzy looked after their kids while they were on tour.

He added: “They set up a stage from our studio. Tom’s boys and my son, they’re totally taken by it.

“They see us on stage and my son is six and knows all the different guitars, which are used for which songs, who plays what guitar part…

“Izzy’s family is very musical so I think his talent comes from them. He’s properly playing, it’s incredible, so exciting.”

Katy Perry today announced that the UK & Europe leg of WITNESS: The Tour will stop at The O2 on 14 and 15 June 2018.

WITNESS: The Tour is Katy’s first run since the sold-out, 151-date Prismatic World Tour, which concluded in 2015 and was hailed by Rolling Stone as "a show to damage retinas and blow minds."

The tour follows the release of her new album, Witness. With Witness, Katy finds liberation, in the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that inspire both thought and movement. The singles released thus far – the Platinum-certified “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley, and the new singles, “Bon Appétit” featuring Migos and “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj – hint at the breadth of the musical and thematic elements found on Witness.

KATY Perry is ready to bring her pop perfection back to the masses next year.

We have been told the chart-topper has been hard at work on her seventh studio album — her first since 2020’s Smile — and has almost completed the project.

In even more exciting news she is planning to tour the UK again after a break of six years.

She has spent the past two years performing a hit residency in Las Vegas and is now ready to get back out to the rest of the world.

A music insider said: “Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years.

“She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before.

“But after so long spent on the West Coast of the US , she feels ready to tour again.

“The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.

“The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”

She said in 2019 that she had grown tired of flying around the world.

But in May this year she said: “I still love making music. I still love spreading light and love.

“I know there’s a lot of people who couldn’t make it to Vegas.

“The last time I was on tour was in 2018. I’m due to go out and see the kids that couldn’t make it to Vegas.”

Earlier this year Katy, who performed at King Charles’ Coronation concert, also hinted at the subject of her new music — her daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom .

She explained: “I haven’t put any new material out since my darling Daisy.

“I think I’m writing a lot and have written a lot from a place of love because I’m feeling so much of it — so much unconditional love, that love you never knew existed.”

With 15 Top Ten singles, including No1 hits I Kissed A Girl, Roar and California Gurls, Katy is one of the most colourful, vivacious and fun pop stars of the 21st century.

Getting her back on stage here, along with new music, will be a real treat.

SOPHIE Ellis-Bextor has signed up to headline an intimate one-off concert to highlight the loneliness which disabled people can experience.

The Murder On The Dancefloor singer will perform at the Stop The Shadows night at London’s Hard Rock Cafe on January 23, which will be hosted by Men Behaving Badly actor Neil Morrissey.

The event, organised by Able2UK, will also feature a performance from The Kooks’ Luke Pritchard as well as interviews with comedian Josh Widdicombe and music legend Tony Christie.

CLAIRE Richards has admitted she spends a fortune on skincare treatments to stay young – and it’s clearly working.

The Steps singer , who released second solo album Euphoria this year, is so eager to look youthful that she says she feels like Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep’s characters in 1992 comedy horror flick Death Becomes Her, where they drink a cursed magic potion that promises eternal youth.

She said: “The one thing that I spend money on is treatments on my face because I don’t want to get old.

“I’m going to be drinking that Death Becomes Her potion if I can get my hands on it.

“I have HydraFacials once a month and I’ve had this thing called Profhilo, which plumps up your skin.”

But the most extreme measure that she has resorted to so far is a microneedling treatment which is believed to stimulate collagen – and costs more than £500 a time.

Claire said of it: “I’ve had Morpheus8. It hurts but it’s worth it.”

The dad of three, in the band with Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter, told me: “Tom’s kids already have a band. He’s got three boys. They’re called Buxy.”

He said wife Izzy looked after their kids while they were on tour.

He added: “They set up a stage from our studio. Tom’s boys and my son, they’re totally taken by it.

“They see us on stage and my son is six and knows all the different guitars, which are used for which songs, who plays what guitar part…

“Izzy’s family is very musical so I think his talent comes from them. He’s properly playing, it’s incredible, so exciting.”

Katy Perry is reportedly set to announce her first UK tour in six years. 

The singer, 39, is said to be putting the final touches to her 'most personal album ever'  after 2020's smile and will perform it for British crowds sometime in late 2024. 

After ending her two year Last Vegas residency in November she is believed to be ready to hit the worldwide stage again, according to The Sun .

A source revealed: 'Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years'.

Before saying of the tour: 'The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.

MailOnline have contacted Katy's reps for comment. 

It comes after she delivered jaw-dropping glamour last week as she took the stage in Vietnam during the 2023 VinFuture Prize honouring scientific breakthroughs — her first-ever performance in the country.

The singer flaunted her bombshell curves in three stunning costumes, including a plunging beaded gown by the Vietnamese luxury brand Cong Tri.

The sparkly frock had sexy cutouts on the sides that showed off her tiny waist and ruched sleeves with elegant silk cuffs.

Katy accessorised with diamond chandelier earrings and swept her wavy raven hair over one shoulder.

Next, the Teenage Dream hitmaker appeared in an ethereal $8,500 lilac gown by Cong Tri with flowing floor-length sleeves and a mesh bodice.

Held in Vietnam's capitol Hanoi, this year's VinFuture Prize honored 'four scientific breakthroughs' that occurred in 2023 relating to the 'sustainable' production of 'green energy,' as reported by Yahoo!

The VinFuture Foundation   awarded the $3M grand prize 'to the invention in creating a sustainable platform for green energy through production with solar cells and storage with Lithium-ion batteries.'

The honorees included: Australian professor Martin Andrew Green, United States professor Stanley Whittingham, Moroccan professor Rachid Yazami and Japanese professor Akira Yoshino.

The ceremony was attended by the president of Vietnam, Vo Van Thuong, and other leaders, international ambassadors and renown scientists, the outlet reveals.

Katy's trip to Vietnam comes just days before the Christmas holiday, which she's expected to celebrate with her fiance Orlando Bloom and their three-year-old daughter Daisy Dove at their Montecito home.

Along with being a hands-on mom and music superstar, Katy has been immersing herself in the world of luxury fashion this year.

The multi-Grammy Award-nominee is the face of Dolce & Gabbana's Devotion fragrance.

Coronation concert review: Katy Perry is a golden Quality Street in this bizarre musical confection

Royal music events are a peculiar beast. Last year’s Platinum Party at the Palace was an eclectic affair, with the lineup – George Ezra, Elton John, Rod Stewart – seemingly pulled at random out of a “royals-friendly” ballot. The coronation concert, which comes a day after King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey, is very much the same.

Of course, there have been plenty of rumours that the reason last night’s billing at Windsor Castle is a hodgepodge of US pop, classical and dad-rock is because organisers struggled to attract the real megastars. Among those said to have turned down the event were Ed Sheeran , Adele, Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls. Oddly, Sheeran is now filling in for Katy Perry as a judge on American Idol , but his absence is more likely to do with the fact that he’s only just disentangled himself from winning a major plagiarism lawsuit . Others, meanwhile, might have been less keen, given each star is limited to just one song. It’s hard to imagine kicking Adele off the stage after a solitary “Hello”.

So instead we have Olly Murs, who bounds up and down the purpose-built stage like a toddler who’s eaten too many Haribo. Lang Lang , by comparison, is dignified yet passionate as he plays a grand piano medley of film soundtrack classics, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. He later introduces Nicole Scherzinger for her debut live performance of “Reflection”, from Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan . It’s a truly mesmerising moment, reminding us that Scherzinger is capable of some incredible vocal gymnastics (even if she is weighed down by some very flashy diamonds).

In the same vein as the Platinum Party, last night’s event is a breathless onslaught of one inexplicably random performance after the other. Tiwa Savage is introduced by our host, Hugh Bonneville, who sounds hilariously unconfident describing her as the “Queen of Afrobeats”. Any sense of dignity from the Downton Abbey star is lost as the stage is crashed by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, the latter torn between wanting to sit in the royal box and finding a member of the nobility to elope with.

A wobbly Lionel Richie warbles “Easy Like Sunday Morning” (what else?) at the grand piano before someone recharges his batteries in time for a rendition of “All Night Long”, which gets everyone (Charles and Cam included) up and dancing. Prince William, delivering a poignant tribute to his father, just about gets away with a gag about not going on all night.

In a nod to King Charles’s love of the arts, we also get a ballet and theatre medley starring Doctor Who ’s Ncuti Gatwa, who makes for a wonderfully charismatic Romeo in a resplendent gold suit. Celebrities also pop up at random on the big screen – Richard E Grant, Alan Titchmarsh, Hugh Jackman, Winnie the Pooh – to share their favourite things about our new monarch, from his passion for the environment to his love of painting.

Never one for subtlety, headliner Katy Perry turns up in a Quality Street wrapper and belts out “Roar” beneath a CGI tiger’s head. Her fellow headliners, Richie and Take That, simply can’t compete, but they do their best. Take That are wheeled out right at the end, some of them looking oddly frail as they dad-dance to the insipid ballad “Greatest Day”, made even worse, if that were possible, by superstar DJ Calum Scott’s tinny synth-based remix. Mark Owens in particular seems to struggle to hit the right notes, sounding more like the dearly departed Bernard Cribbins than a Nineties boyband star.

There’s absolutely no clear theme to the evening. Take That are suddenly engulfed by a flock of Katy Perry lookalikes, resplendent in their very own Quality Street wrappers. A giant whale made up of colour-coded drones swims through the sky. Tom Cruise offers Charles a spot as his wingman. It’s no Glastonbury, sure. But it was a lot of fun.

If you’ve got tickets to see Katy Perry in Newcastle you’re in for an extra treat as another American popstar has been announced as her support act.

Katy will bring her Witness tour to the Metro Radio Arena on Monday, June 25 and she will be joined on Tyneside by Hailee Steinfield.

Republic Records recording artist Hailee quickly cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with in pop music with a series of hits such as the 2015 platinum-certified debut single Love Myself, the double platinum-selling smash Starving with Grey [feat. Zedd] and the platinum-selling summer anthem Most Girls.

To date, the multiplatinum-selling artist has amassed a total of nearly two billion streams globally.

During 2017, Hailee won Best Push Artist at the MTV EMAs and Musical.ly’s Top Covered Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards.

She was honoured by Variety with the Crossover Artist award at their inaugural Hitmakers event and also garnered three Teen Choice Award nominations for her work in both film and music.

Most recently Hailee had her song Capital Letters featured on the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Freed.

12 Pop Stars Who Could Replace Katy Perry on 'American Idol'

K aty Perry officially exited "American Idol" after last month's Season 22 finale, leaving fans wondering who will fill the "Never Really Over" pop star's seat.

The "Teenage Dream" singer joined the show as a judge alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in 2018 for the reboot on ABC, following its original 15-season run on Fox. After seven seasons leading the judging trio, viewers are in store for a shakeup when Season 23 returns in 2025.

While there are a few stars gunning for a seat on the panel, TheWrap has put together a list of who we trust to be able to judge a singing competition.

Meghan Trainor

The "All About That Bass" singer has not been shy about vying for a chance at the judging seat. In fact, she said she's begging for the opportunity to work on her "favorite show" and have "her dream job." Plus, the pop star has some judging experience, getting her start on "The Four: Battle for Stardom" in 2018 and later on "The Voice UK" in 2020. She also mentored the most recent season's Top 12 as they tackled Billboard No. 1 hits and was a guest judge on Season 8 of "Australian Idol" in 2023.

The "Idol" Season 3 winner could be an ideal choice for the judging slot. One of the more successful names to come out of the franchise, Fantasia is back in the public eye following her Oscar-nominated performance in the 2023 musical adaptation of "The Color Purple," as well as her 2024 Grammy Awards performance. The star even returned to the "Idol" stage this past season to speak to the Season 22 finalists on the 20th anniversary of her win.

Carrie Underwood

Another "Idol" success could potentially take a seat on the other side of the judging table. The Season 4 winner released her last album "Denim and Rhinestones" in 2022, leading up to her Stagecoach headlining performance. 

Maren Morris

The Grammy Award winner was rejected from "American Idol" after her audition as a teenager, but has since said she sees it as " poetic justice " when people audition with her songs on the show. "I just get the check in the mail," she said. The star, who recently announced her split from country music, has guest judged on an episode of "Rupaul's Drag Race," but never on a singing competition show.

The "Raise Your Glass" singer is admittedly hesitant about joining the judging table. "I don't like hurting people's feelings," she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight . "I like my day job." Either way, Pink is set to continue her international tour this fall.

Miley Cyrus

The recent first-time Grammy winner has said that tour life is not for her. So why not the judging panel? The star known for her covers could easily help mentor the next big thing in music. Plus, the "Flowers" singer was a guest judge on the show back in 2010.

Jennifer Hudson

Though not an "Idol" winner, the "Dreamgirls" star is one of the biggest names to come out of the competition show. Hudson placed 7th on Fantasia's season in 2004, but credits the show for her success 20 years later. The EGOT recipient even hosts her own talk show nowadays, so she'd be a natural.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo has been everywhere recently, but could her canceled tour dates bring her back to the "Idol" judging table? The "On the Floor" singer was a judge on Seasons 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15, discovering artists like Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips. She said in a May interview with Jimmy Kimmel that she "feels like she did it" already, but this was before her schedule opened up. For now, her answer remains, "Not this year, but maybe next year."

Jordin Sparks

The youngest winner in "Idol" history is "putting her name in the hat" to fill Perry's seat. The "No Air" singer, who won the sixth season of the reality show at 17, wants to help the next generation find their voice. Sparks released a Christmas EP last December, but does not have any upcoming projects announced.

Katy Perry announced her first new single in two years, and it’s already sparking backlash.

The 39-year-old singer’s supposedly forthcoming sixth album has been kept mostly under wraps, but it has been reported that controversial producer Dr Luke, 50, is attached to the project.

An exclusive report from Rolling Stone  named some of Katy’s collaborators on the new project, and many fans were shocked and appalled to see the controversial music producer and songwriter’s name among them.

Responsible for dozens of massive hits over the past couple of decades, Dr Luke’s name became most notorious for the allegations made against him by pop superstar Kesha, who accused him of years of sexual and emotional abuse.

Dr Luke sued her for defamation shortly after, sparking several years of legal battles that resolved in both parties agreeing to settle and move on last year.

The entertainment industry seemed to mostly support Kesha, with singers like Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga all rushing to back the We R Who We R singer.

But Perry’s involvement in the Dr Luke drama goes deeper. In 2014, Kesha reportedly texted Lady Gaga that the producer had raped Perry, a claim that Perry herself denied in court and which was ruled as defamation by the New York Supreme Court.

Now, Perry is facing plenty of online backlash for working with Dr Luke.

@unholycyrusss agreed: ‘I’m actually in shock how so many Katy Perry fans are defending her with this Dr. Luke thing… it’s ok to hold your favorite artist accountable btw’

Other fans argue that Perry has no choice in the matter and is contractually obligated to work with the producer for another three albums.

While the exact details of Katy’s contract with Dr Luke remain unclear, her involvement with the producer isn’t the only criticism fans have for the singer’s new era.

Announcing the new track on Instagram recently, Perry posted a video of herself posing in a white bikini accompanied by a snippet of the song and told fans in the caption to ‘get ready to pop off.’

The cover art, shot by British photographer Jack Bridgland, depicts Perry in thigh-high cyborg-chic boots and a white crochet bikini, looking svelte, tan, and otherworldly. 

She posted the cover art for the new song on X and Instagram, immediately sparking heated debate online. 

While many fans have expressed their love for the cover art on social media, others have commented that it looks more than just inspired by robots, but actually looks AI-generated.

One X user, @JeffAdams82, wrote: ‘Oh look, it’s AI Katy Perry. Is her voice on her new record going to be as fake as this picture?’

Meanwhile, reddit user AyThroughZee wrote that not only does the picture look AI generated, but, ‘This aesthetic also just comes off as trying to play catch up with other more cutting edge pop stars.’

The accusations come amid growing concern about the role of AI in music, with many worried that artificial intelligence is going to take jobs from artists and create music that is algorithmic and soulless.

While Perry’s cover is definitely edited – as is made obvious by the shock waves around the base of her feet – the same can be said for essentially any album cover or promo photo coming out today.

The single will be Perry’s first new music since 2022’s Where We Started, which featured US country artist Thomas Rhett, so there are plenty of eyes on Perry wondering if she’s going to be able to make the most of her comeback.

Some fans are more hopeful about the new era, with X user @khromehrtz writing: ‘The queen of bubblegum pop is back’ while @ISLANDBARBZZ simply posted: ‘COMING TO SAVE POP.’

Instagram user @alienpeachez agreed, writing: ‘This is too iconic to be a single cover. It should be the album cover.’

User @totally wrote: ‘SHE’S A GODDESS AND SHE KNOWS IT.’

Perry has had five UK number one singles over the years, including I Kissed A Girl, California Gurls and Roar, as well as two number one albums in Teenage Dream and Prism.

Her last album was 2020’s Smile which reached number five in the UK albums chart.

Her hotly anticipated new release will drop on Thursday July 11, before a video for the track premieres on Friday July 12.

Katy Perry’s Dress—With a Never-Ending Train!—Is an Homage to Her New Music

Katy Perry’s upcoming sixth studio album—and her new single, “Woman’s World”—is all the Internet can talk about right now. Earlier this month, the pop star shared that her new song comes out on July 11, and the teaser clip of her singing it has since gone viral. “Sexy confident, so intelligent, she is heaven sent,” Perry sings. Some fans are claiming the star is here to “ save pop music ”; Others feel the song is reminiscent of one that you’d hear in a Target commercial. (Everyone’s a critic!) In the hype leading up to the release, however, Perry has been in Paris hitting the town—including appearances at Vogue World and the couture shows. Today, the singer emerged wearing her boldest City of Light look yet—a red dress complete with a never-ending train emblazoned with her own lyrics.

Call it fashion-forward promo: Perry stepped out donning a red, one-shouldered mini dress by Balenciaga printed with the lyrics to “Woman’s World.” A custom version of a dress from the label’s pre-fall 2024 collection, the look came complete with a long train—over 100 yards!—that just kept going (and going—and going). Though it’s hard to read what exactly the lyrics are, we were able to make out some key words, including “celebrate,” “lucky,” and “Uh huh.” (Based on this melange, we're predicting an upbeat song.) As Perry ascended the steps to her hotel, the the fabric trailing behind her encouraged fans to take in the lyrical sneak peek.

The unexpected fashion moment is yet another example of Perry doing her own thing. Some pop stars go on talk shows or release TikToks to build buzz around a new song, but Perry prefers to do so on her sleeve. Or, rather, her miles-long train.
