Madonna announces 2023 tour that will celebrate her greatest hits

Madonna is getting ready to "express herself" all over again with her latest global tour.

On Tuesday, the music icon announced a new 35-city global tour, aptly named "Madonna: The Celebration Tour." The 64-year-old shared the news on her Instagram page and revealed that the tour would feature hits from across her four decades performing.

"Come join the party! 🎉💃🏼🎵🕺🏾🎤," she captioned the post.

The singer also teased the news in a video that paid tribute to her 1991 film "Truth or Dare." In the four-minute clip, Madonna is joined by several stars, including Amy Schumer, Jack Black, Lil Wayne and Judd Apatow, for a game of truth or dare.

Toward the end, Schumer dares Madonna to go on a tour and sing all of her best hits. It's a challenge that the icon gladly accepts.

A release posted to Madonna's website said the tour would follow her "artistic journey" and pay special homage to New York City, the place where her career began.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” she said.

The Celebration Tour Updated Itinerary

by MadonnaTribe · August 15, 2023

Excitement has been mounting with Madonna ’s post that the North America rescheduled dates would be announced shortly. Today, Live Nation is pleased to confirm that most of the North America dates of Madonna’s Celebration Tour have been rescheduled and will take place immediately following the originally announced UK and Europe dates. Updated itinerary below.

Tickets for the previously scheduled shows will be honored on the new dates. This includes all dates except Los Angeles and one date in New York due to a venue change, detailed below. Getting all shows rescheduled was the number one priority. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts a few shows noted below will be canceled. Madonna regrets the inconvenience to fans and hopes to make it up to those markets in the future.

The Celebration Tour will officially kick off with four sold out shows in London this October, followed by shows across Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands throughout the remainder of 2023. The North American leg will begin on December 13th in New York at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. As originally planned, the Tour will wrap up in Mexico City with four concerts that have been rescheduled to April 2024.

Tour schedule

The Celebration Tour kicked off with 4 dates at the London O2 Arena in October 2023. Tour stops in another 10 European cities followed until early December.

The North American leg of the tour was originally planned for the summer of 2023, but due to health issues, these dates were all rescheduled between December 2023 and April 2024. After 80 shows, Madonna held a final show at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The show was free, to thank her fans for their support over the past 40 years. It drew a staggering 1,6 million people , the largest crowd for a standalone concert ever.

On the first day of sales, the tour had sold-out 36 shows and counting across Toronto, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and more,  with over 600,000 tickets sold .

Tour setlist

It was the first time Madonna hit the road without promoting a new studio album. The setlist was entirely based on her back catalog of the past four decades. "I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for," Madonna said in the announcement.

Tour crew & collaborators

Madonna worked with music producer Stuart Price for the first time since the Confessions Tour . Bob the Drag Queen  (a.k.a. Caldwell Tidicue) was the special guest on all dates of the tour. Belgian choreographers Damien Jalet , who previously worked on the Madame X Tour , and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui have provided dance choreos. Marvin Gofin , Daniele Sibili and several other dancers from previous tours were included too.

Tour recording

The final show in Rio was filmed and broadcast by Globo. It is believed that this recording will be released in some format. But several shows, including the stop in Mexico City, were also filmed. So at the moment, it's not yet clear which will be the actual recording to be used for the tour release. There isn't any info yet either whether there will be any physical release, or only on a streaming platform.

The 35-city Live Nation-backed “Madonna: The Celebration Tour” will kick off July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, with stops in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Denver, Atlanta and Boston, among others. That leg ends on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas.

Then the Material Girl hits Europe, where she has 11 dates throughout the fall, including London, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Milan and Stockholm, among others. The tour will wrap in Amsterdam on Dec. 1.

The singer will “be highlighting her unmatched catalog of music from the past 40-plus years,” according to the announcement. It will also “pay respect to the city of New York, where her career in music began.”

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna says in the announcement.

Tickets go on sale starting Friday, Jan. 20.

Some of Madonna’s Hot 100 hits include “Vogue,” “Music,” “Crazy For You,” “Like a Virgin,” “Like a Prayer,” “Justify My Love,” “Live to Tell” and “Papa Don’t Preach.”

Madonna

Madonna ’s hotly anticipated The Celebration Tour is finally here! The 78-date tour kicked off Saturday (Oct. 14) in London at the O2 Arena, the first of six sold-out shows.

The Queen of Pop’s 13th tour encompasses four decades of hits, iconic costumes, era-defining music videos and more. Not only did the set design take a cue from the three-layered wedding cake look of her 1984 Video Music Awards performance – one widely cited as the TV moment that catapulted her into the cultural stratosphere as a pop talent and provocateur – but the merchandise table featured numerous items recreating merch items from Madonna’s past tours.

Ahead of the show’s launch, fans ( including us ) were furiously speculating as to what the setlist would entail. How many of her Billboard chart hits – 12 No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and 50 No. 1s on the Dance Club Songs chart – would appear? And would they appear in full, or in part? Would she treat fans to any deep cuts? Would we hear any songs that have never – or rarely – been performed on stage?

Well, with the first show of the Celebration Tour in the books, we finally have a sense of what to expect on this tour as it begins its 15-country run. From early hits to unexpected surprises to recent highlights of a career that’s still going strong, these are the songs that Madonna sang on the opening night of her tour. Note: Madonna did play a lot of snippets of other songs during interstitial segments — we’re talking about the ones she sang live on stage here.

Check out the setlist for Madonna’s The Celebration Tour below, based on the first night of her six dates at London’s O2 Arena.

"Nothing Really Matters"

"everybody", "into the hollywood groove", "burning up", "open your heart", "live to tell", "like a prayer"/"unholy”/"act of contrition" (mashup), "justify my love"/"fever" (medley), "hung up on tokischa"/"hung up" (medley), "human nature", "crazy for you", "die another day", "don’t tell me", "mother and father", "little star" (a cappella) , "i will survive" (cover)  , "la isla bonita", "don't cry for me argentina", "bedtime story", "ray of light", "bitch i’m madonna"/"give me all your luvin'" (medley) , "celebration"/"music" (medley).

Madonna World Tour 2023: Dates, Venues, How To Get Your Tickets

Pop superstar Madonna is embarking on a world tour this summer that will feature 40 years of her hits.

The music icon announced her tour in a video shared on her social media pages Tuesday. It showed Madonna playing truth or dare with Jude Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Bob the Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Eric Andre and Amy Schumer.

In the video, the 64-year-old singer-songwriter is seen recreating suggestive poses from her 1992 coffee table of erotic photographs, aptly titled "Sex." In the end, Schumer dared Madonna to do a world tour of her hits.

Madonna asked "That's a lot of songs. You think people would come to that show?"

"I'll be there," her friends replied. After joining the group in singing her megahit "La Isla Bonita," the "Material Girl" singer answered, "F*** yeah!"

"Madonna: The Celebration Tour" is produced by Live Nation and will cover 35 cities. It will begin in Vancouver, Canada, on July 15 and end in Amsterdam on Dec. 1, according to the artist's website.

Madonna has announced the rescheduled dates for her forthcoming Celebration tour.

The “Holiday” singer had been forced to cancel the North American leg of her world tour earlier this year after contracting a bacterial infection .

Madonna’s tour will now begin with four sold-out shows in London’s O2 arena later this year.

A press release states: “Getting all shows rescheduled was the number one priority. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts a few shows noted below will be canceled.

“Madonna regrets the inconvenience to fans and hopes to make it up to those markets in the future.”
