Posted August 31, 2022. Depends on the ship. Only ships with MSC for Me installed (Seaside-class and Meraviglia-class) can use the wristbands that do anything. The wristbands used on the Fantasia-class (Divina etc) for Yacht Club are purely for visual identification. All MSC cruise cards on all ships have a hole prepunched for lanyard use.

Posted December 20, 2017. Because some people apparently think that lanyards are tacky and it ruins their cruise experience when they see someone wearing one. Personally, my wife and I love wearing our CC lanyards on cruises and it's much easier than having to find our cards in a pocket or elsewhere.

Going on the seashore soon but wanted to know if I should purchase lanyards for my trip. They don't provide them. No They sell them tho. They do have some MSC branded ones in their MSC shop on board. But cheaper to order from Amazon. Usually come for free with Yacht Club.

The front desk will gladly punch a hole in your key card for the lanyard. If you are sailing into Miami a day early, there were some unique lanyards offered at Bayside.

Bonus Tip - I highly suggest bringing a lanyard for your kids cruise card. You can get them with various characters to make it more fun. Lanyards are also common for adults as well. An MSC lanyard can be purchased on the ship for 4€ and a jeweled lanyard is priced at 9.90€. Personally, I don't like the cruise line specific lanyards.
