Odisha is the best place to visit.

I am a designer from Sri Lanka who studied Textile Design in Mumbai long ago and have traveled a lot in India. I am very interested in doing a 7-10 day trip to Odisha but cannot find any tours / organizations doing Odisha travel. How can I get in touch with Travel organizers for low cost travel for 3-5 pax?. I have a trip plan to include B’neshwer, Puri,Pipli,Konark,Chilika Lake, Cuttack (Silver crafts)Sambalpur( iketh),-Jepore ( to see tribal people when they come to Jepore on market day. I am interested in their costume, crafts, etc while I would respect their identity & privacy)

I just want a trip to Odisha as it will be wonderful!

Hi Rohit, I am planning to visit Odisha from Jan 2 to the 10th. I would like to go to Bhubaneshwar, Puri, Knoark, Chilika, Paradip and Gahirmatha for the olive Ridleys, Also Bhitarkanika. Are all these possible in that time? Your suggestions? Thanks, Hema. PS I will be going to Arunachal and Assam for 1 week each before this. Any suggestions for those places also welcome! 🙂

You can go to Bhubaneswar directly and from there you can find tourist bus to go to any place. Book your bus in indigo to Bhubaneswar airport (BBI).

Berhampur should have been added as one of the top places to visit in Odisha. There is the unpolluted and serene Gopalpur and Sunapur sea beaches. The Taptapani hot water springs. The Ashokan rock edict at Jaugada. The temples of Tara Tarini, Bhairavi, Narayani, and Kanaka Durga (Athagada). Biranchi Narayan Temple at Buguda, dedicated to the Sun god, having beautiful wood carvings.

Bhubaneswar directly and from there you can find tourist bus to go to any place. Book your bus in indigo to Bhubaneswar airport.

thanks very informative i am from mysore and bringing students next month please tell us important places to be covered in 4 days.

I don’t think Orissa has much to offer for tourism, apart from temples. No good hotels, resorts and nothing of international class.

Hi No need to search for any tour and travels come to bhubaneswar and hire a taxi he will take you the respective placed and on that spot you will find the guides in very nominal price.or just contact otdc they will help you.

one place is missing from the list I guess. Chandipur its a unique beach one have ever visited . specialities of that beach is water recedes from 1 to 4 kilometers during the ebb tide.

I think, you should have enlisted at least Gopalpur and Chandipur which are much more sought after tourist spots than, say, Paradip, Barbil etc.

Odisha is a nice place for visit as well as for stay.

I am from Jeypore. You simply need to take a train or bus from Bhubaneswar to reach here. Jeypore is an overnight journey from the capital. It is full of tribals and wonderful waterfalls. I am sure you will definitely love it. Plan anytime, but winter is the best time to travel.

I enjoyed very much by visiting Jeypore and Bhubaneswar. This region encompasses a lot of natural beauty.

You should also list the following places: Gopalpur, Chandipur, Baripada, Ambika temle and Shimilipal.

Posted Photos are excellent. Expected one of Barbil. Thank You Rohit.

Best of Orissa: A Ten Day Itinerary

Bhubaneswar

Widely known as the "Temple City of India," Bhubaneswar is an important Hindu pilgrimage center. Hundreds of temples dot the landscape of the Old Town, which once boasted of more than 2000 temples. The new Bhubaneswar with its modern buildings and extensive infrastructure perfectly complements its historic surroundings. With facilities to cater to every type of visitor, Bhubaneswar makes an ideal destination.

My first stop was the great Lingaraja, which soars above the city of Bhubaneswar, dominating its landscape. Unlike most of the other important temples in Bhubaneswar, the Lingaraja is in active worship, and entrance to the temple compound is prohibited to non-Hindus. My second stop was the small and elegant Mukteswara temple is often referred to as the "miniature gem of Orissan architecture".

The 'torana' (arched gateway) of the Mukteswara deserves special attention. Its extraordinarily beautiful sculpture includes elaborate scrolls, graceful female figures, monkeys, peacocks, and a wealth of delicate and lovely decorative detail. Another remarkable place in Bhubaneswar is the Udayagiri & Khandagiri Caves. As you approach the site, Khandagiri, with its 15 caves will be on the left. Udaygiri will be on the right. These are rock-cut shelters located six km from the city. Some of them have intricate artwork carved into the walls.

The calm beach at Chandipur is surely one among many of the finest beaches of the country. Chandipur, also known as the town of the silvery moon is an important tourist destination in the Balasore district of Odisha. Known for its wonderful beaches, pristine charm and scenic beauty, Chandipur is a tourist's delight offering natural and spiritual beauty in all its glory. Chandipur beaches offer an unforgettable experience. Away from the hustle and bustle of regular tourist hangouts, Chandipur offers a perfect holiday getaway for people seeking solitude and isolation, making it one of the most beautiful coastal towns of east India.

Konark is situated in the Puri district of the Indian state Orissa. Apart from Taj Mahal, if there is another monument that symbolizes India it is the majestic Sun Temple at Konark. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage. This temple made Konark one of the most visited towns in Orissa. The temple is dedicated to Sun God. The Temple is in the form of a Chariot with wheels on the sides of the platform on which the temple stands. The walls of Sun temple have carvings both inside and outside. Do travel to Konark to see it in all its splendor.

Northern lights may be visible in Arizona this weekend. Here's how to see the aurora borealis

Arizona was treated to a light show this weekend, as the northern lights lit up the sky across the United States due to heightened solar activity, according to officials.

Arizonans took to social media on Friday and Saturday to share images and videos of the pink and purple colors they saw on the northern horizon.

The spectacle was courtesy of a series of coronal mass ejections from the sun, which are forecast to reach the Earth early this weekend and produce the geomagnetic storms that trigger auroras. A G4 (severe) geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for Saturday, May 11, NOAA said.

The northern lights are the most benign result of solar activity. Strong solar storms — including G4s — can also disrupt some radio communications, harm satellites and even knock out power systems, forecasters warned.

Officials said the lights may be visible again on Monday.

While the northern lights will be more vibrant further north, there is a chance they could be seen in Arizona. This happened back in 2023, when Robert Ray captured the aurora lights from his backyard in Eagar.

"I was that excited to capture the northern lights," he said. "They were very faint to the naked eye, but could definitely tell they were there."

What time will the northern lights be visible?

The best aurora is usually within an hour or two of midnight (between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time). These hours expand toward evening and morning as the level of geomagnetic activity increases.

There may be aurora in the evening and morning, but it is usually not as active and therefore, not as visually appealing, NOAA said.

How long do northern lights last?

The northern lights can last a few minutes to several hours. There's no guaranteed timeframe, and they can appear at any time during the night.

More: Did Arizona see the northern lights? See what the aurora looked like across the state

Should you look north to see northern lights?

Yes. It may seem obvious, but looking toward the North Pole is the most common direction to observe the northern lights.

To observe the northern lights clearly, it's essential to be in an area with minimal light pollution. Away from city lights and in areas with a dark sky, the auroras are more visible. Even if you're in a location known for experiencing the northern lights, you may see them in some places and not others.

What's the difference between northern lights and aurora?

The terms "northern lights" and "aurora" are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference.

"Northern lights" specifically refers to the auroras that occur in the Northern Hemisphere. It is commonly associated with the aurora borealis, the display of lights visible near the North Pole.

"Aurora" is a more general term that encompasses both the aurora borealis in the Northern Hemisphere and the aurora australis, or southern lights, in the Southern Hemisphere.

So, "aurora" can refer to the lights in both hemispheres, according to  Space.com .

A detailed lighting framework makes the model exceptionally practical, with each window sparkling with brightening, there are lighting ieties amongst sunshine and evening.

Indeed, even the windows of the watercraft on the stream are lit up. Unfortunately, no Soviet support the show is presently losing cash, for the most part, because of the high power expenses to keep it lit.

A few specialists wouldn't see any problems with seeing it obliterated, discovering it a waste and power. While the model is never again gone by faithful gathering individuals, it is still delighted in by inquisitive vacationers who need a look at the Soviet Moscow of yesteryear.

Does anyone know if the Raleigh location allows dogs? There's no phone number on their website and the Durham location doesn't answer their phone.

I'm not 100% sure but usually if food is served, no dogs are allowed inside. Maybe the patio?

Brand new place, absolutely packed on a Friday night. They have a pretty cool ordering system for food with QR codes but it was absolute chaos and I never got my food when I had to shuffle spots at the stand up tables. Fortunately the management was awesome and apologetic and offered a discounted pizza. Great service as they try to figure out the crowd situation. Well done. The beer was good despite the slow service. The pizza however we need to talk about... It was absolutely delicious. The pizza HAS no business being this amazing at a brewery. We got a margarita pie and it was so incredible that we ordered a late night meatball one instead of heading elsewhere. Both were eye opening. One of the best pizzas I've had in awhile and I know good pizza. Shoutout the management and pizza chef. I'm rooting for you guys to be successful!

Beer lovers will be happy to know that Ponysaurus Brewing is now open at Raleigh Iron Works! With locations in Durham and Wilmington, it was great to see this excellent brewery open up closer to my home base. Ponysaurus has a brand new space that's quirky and industrial. Concrete floors, booths, a large bar in back, you order food online (QR code) with ToastTab and order your drinks (beer, cocktails, wine) at the bar separately. Your food is brought out to your location based on the QR code. The menu features pizza, sandwiches, appetizers along with a handful of desserts. Service was solid on my opening day visit, I'm already looking forward to visit #2!

Beer was mediocre and my pizza was burned black. Can't believe they served it that way.

Pizza

Ponysaurus raises QR code self service to a new low. Find a seat and scan the code and you're presented with the dreaded Toasttab App with food choices only. A neighboring table will overhear your remark about where are drinks and inform you that you go get your drinks at the bar. OK. To avoid losing your table, you and your dining companion take turns wandering up there to pick a beer. The main gluten free option is a burger with no bun and when it arrives at the table the "silverware?" question earns you another opportunity to walk inside to grab what you need, unless it's napkins for the empty dispenser at the table, in which case you flag down an actual person, which is easy enough as there seems to be plenty of friendly staff on hand. The food and beer are tasty enough and I'm sure a second trip there would be far less annoying. The place was packed and I'm sure they'll do fine.
