Stadium tour

Went for a stadium tour recently whilst staying in Cardiff for work. Excellent tour guide gave good explanation of each area of the stadium. Added features such as sound recordings of the noise before walking down the tunnel and managers briefings in the changing rooms was a good touch! Overall a cracking tour for 12.50 and would recommend.

The stadium looks great, is great size. Viewing is brilliant all the way around. Signage is clear and precise. Staff are friendly and efficient. A really fantastic place to watch a sporting event. The roof guarantees events will take place.

Brilliant atmosphere on rugby match days. Always love the mix of so many different people. Fantastic views of the pitch. Love the retractable roof.

Impressive stadium. Took a guided tour, guide knowledgeable but wasn't very interactive with the group. Good to see but not one of our highlights from Cardiff.

Attended the Speedway GP event for the second time. The atmosphere was electric and the supporters were buzzing. We sat on the back straight and could see every part of the track. No having view blocked by people in front. By having the roof shut the noise was contained within the stadium and this contributed to the atmosphere. we were search on arrival but this did not take long. access to seats were clearly marked. only two complaints... Once in my seat I found I was squeezed up against a rather large stranger which was very uncomfortable and...as with most venues the queue for ladies toilets was ridiculous, why dont they build sufficient toilets.

Fantastic night out the stadium is well laid out and lots of facilities no long queues . Easy to get to and plenty of things to in cardiff

Pink performing at Principality Stadium, Cardiff.

Pink review – gymnastic spectacular from pop's great noncomformist

Principality Stadium, Cardiff The star condenses the energy of an entire tour into a single show that’s a riot of circus athleticism and crowd-pleasing hits

P ink is hanging upside down from a towering, diamante-encrusted chandelier. As it swings, she snarls, winks and breaks into Get the Party Started, her tongue-in-cheek romp from 2001 . To the delight of Cardiff’s roaring crowd – though perhaps not her insurance underwriter – the 39-year-old pop veteran scales every angle of the bejewelled contraption with the acrobatic execution of a Cirque de Soleil runaway, held aloft by just a light harness. Not your average start to a party, then.

Delightfully brash ... Pink.

But Pink is not your average pop star. Born Alecia Moore, the multimillion-album-selling artist and trained gymnast has spent two decades infiltrating the mainstream with her brand of delightfully brash pop-rock anthems (her 2017 album Beautiful Trauma was the third-biggest seller in the world that year). From the self-empowerment anthem Fuckin’ Perfect – played tonight sans expletives – to the club banger Raise Your Glass, her confessional songwriting has marked her out as an ambassador for misfits. She knows, too: “We’re all Pink on the inside,” chimes a mid-set transition clip.

Pink condenses a tour’s worth of energy, showmanship and stage production into one show, flexing her athleticism while singing live, on-key and with sublime verve. Bedecked in a tailcoat, she works as a wired-up ringmaster, commanding her backing dancers through the feverishly catchy Funhouse; hearts move to mouths as her muscular prowess is pushed to the limit throughout a gyroscopic Secrets. With this arsenal of palatable, crowd-pleasing hits, there was presumedly no need for a cover, but her powerful rendition of Bishop Briggs’ gothic, reverb-drenched River allows a rare unshowy routine that, for once, leaves the spotlight on Pink’s voice rather than on her physical capabilities.

The nursery rhyme-like stomp of So What heralds a high-flying aerial finale; strapped in by four bungee chords, Pink erratically slingshots her way across the stadium’s ticketed sections and dive bombs towards fans. As the hook-line fades out, she finally grounds herself on a structured perch and waves at her ecstatic fans, offering them a conspiratorial nod. And with that, pop’s greatest nonconformist soars back to Earth.

+ – = ÷ X Tour review | Ed Sheeran thrills and spills in dazzling display

★★★★☆ Ed Sheeran took to the stage at the Principality Stadium, for the largest attended series of gigs in Welsh history.

Ed Sheeran makes a peace sign during a performance

Ed Sheeran took to the stage at the Principality Stadium, for the largest attended series of gigs in Welsh history.

On a production level, this show was utterly spectacular. A large-scale rotating stage in the centre gave a new concept to Ed’s tours, which normally feature the solo artist performing from a more conventional set up tucked in at one side of the stadium.

It made you wonder, how does spinning around a stage for two hours not make the Grammy Award-winning star feel nauseous? Regardless, he managed to deliver. Projected onto enormous guitar pics were futuristic graphic filters running on top of the live stream, ensuring everyone got an up-close view of the pop megastar.

The band were featured very infrequently, appearing to be concealed off the main stage, on their own individual platforms facing away from the crowd. Most of the songs were performed with a minimal setup featuring a loop pedal and guitar.

Principality Stadium

Songs were broken up with brief interactions with the audience as Ed walked the crowd through his journey; from sending a mailing list asking if people wanted him to play music in their living room, to selling out 80,000 tickets in the country’s largest stadium.

While the pre-song chatter is welcomed and paints him as your average Joe, there are times where it’s a little jarring and the crowd just want hit after hit.

Ed’s lucky enough to have a plethora of bangers that get the whole audience singing at the top of their lungs and dancing the night away. The encore was nothing short of sensational. Blasting Shape of Yo u, Bad Habits and You Need Me had everyone up on their feet, going wild. T

The set list, although filled with hit after hit, felt slightly disjointed at times – going from club hits, to slow acoustic pieces. Another notable movement saw Ed mix a mashup version of Don’t fused with No Diggity, referring to his plagiarism trial in which he showed to a court that many songs of the genre are inherently similar.

But let’s face it. In short, if you’re an Ed Sheeran fan – and let’s be honest, most people are – then you’re in for one hell of a night.

Millenium stadium tour

Excellent guides, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Magnificent stadium. Highlight was visit to dressing rooms, not every stadium tour lets you do this.

Great tour by Steve. Really enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the versitile stadium. Can't imagine running out that tunnel to the roar of the crowd!

Even when there is no event on the place oozes atmosphere. Some day I will get to a 6 nations here. Did the tour some time back. An amazing place in an amazing location. Wish I had a ticket to visit it when it's not empty

My Wife sorted the tour for me as a surprise. Very much enjoyed it and the 2 Guides were very informative, as a football fan it was great to feel we walked in the footsteps of recent famious players and my Wife was very pleased to have sat in the same seat as The Queen, would have like the tour to have been maybe 20 mins more so you didn't feel rushed. A must do though.

There's no stadium in the world to beat this for atmosphere, especially when Wales are playing! But even if you're there for some of the many other events that are held at the stadium it's always an experience, somehow warm and close and welcoming, even if the roof's open!

Stadium is great, plenty of facilities and really friendly helpful staff. Its in a great location close to the stations and near to the town centre. Refreshments very reasonably priced with little attempt to take advantage of a captive audience by overcharging.

Taylor Swift Eras tour: When is the pop star performing in the UK?

Taylor Swift will soon launch the European, UK and Ireland legs of her record-breaking Eras tour.

Over the past year, the 34-year-old pop star has been performing her career-spanning shows at stadiums around the world, including North America, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore.

A month after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Society, she will continue the Eras tour with four nights in Paris at the La Défense Arena.

After this, she will perform two shows in Lisbon, Portugal, then a further two nights in Madrid, Spain, and Lyon, France.

UK-based fans (and those travelling to see Swift from overseas) will then get to see her live during three nights from 7 to 9 June at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, before she heads to Liverpool and Cardiff.

Swift is booked to perform a staggering eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London, with the first three taking place between 21 and 23 June, before she returns for the final five nights of her UK and Europe tour between 15 and 20 August.

In between those, she will have also played in Dublin, Ireland, in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Vienna, Austria.

Ticketmaster recently announced a major update for fans with tickets to see Swift this summer.

Mon 19 August – Wembley Stadium, London

Tue 20 August – Wembley Stadium, London

All UK and Ireland dates will be supported by US rock band Paramore.

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.

“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.

“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”

The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”
