EXCEPTIONAL

I wanted an in country travel agent for our nearly month long trip to Sri Lanka & Lahiru from RED DOT was outstanding. From the very beginning Lahiru was professional, well informed, patient, helpful & ALWAYS available even when I forgot the time difference. Her suggested itinerary, other than a few (our choice) in-country changes was absolutely perfect. I also have to mention our wonderful, patient, kind, thoughtful, well organised and knowledgable driver (now friend) and guide - Bushita Iranga. He was exceptional - fabulous comfy mini van - WITH WIFI !! There is really so much I want to say but the main thing is that Lahiru was so amazing - We were not the easiest of clients but she was always patient and we felt so safe and looked after by her and Iranga. If you are travelling to SL please do contact Lahiru and ask for Iranga - other than the fact that SL is stunning with the lovliest people you could even hope to meet - you cannot go wrong with these people and their team 10/10 all the way. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us

Hi noazakozzy123 We think Lahiru is amazing, too! Sometimes we wonder when she sleeps with all the time zones she works across. We are very lucky to have her - and all our travel consultants. Good that your driver, Bushito, also did his bit in helping you enjoy Sri Lanka to the full. Sorry for the belated reply - it has been a tough few months but we think Sri Lanka is bouncing back again. Best regards The Red Dot team

We have just finished a 12 day tour arranged by Lahiru at Red Dot Tours. Altogether we have had a wonderful trip, very well planned by Lahiru. She rearranged a couple of times to take in what we wanted to see and was always prompt and responsive. Our driver for the trip was Chameera who we recommend very highly. He was always prompt, a good driver, very knowledgeable on history, wildlife and birds, and he has a good sense of humour which is always good when you’re spending a lot of time together. He deserves high praise.

Dear rachellW2599OZ Sorry it has taken a while for us to thank-you for trusting Red Dot for your Sri Lanka holiday. We're delighted it worked out well and that Lahiru and Chameera came up with the goods. Thank-you for entrusting your Sri Lanka holiday planning to us. Best wishes from all of us for your future holiday planning. Best regards The Red Dot team

We (two adults and two children 5-7) had a brilliant trip organised by Lahiru at Red Dot Hours. We had an excellent guide, Mendis, who went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. The tour car was safe, clean and very comfortable. We visited Sigiriya and an eco park and then the coast near Galle (including the amazing turtle sanctuary). We highly recommend Red Dot, and indeed a visit to Sri Lanka!

Belated thanks, MarkE1978, for your kind words and recommendation of Red Dot. Best wishes from all of us for your future holidays. The Red Dot team

A fantastic itenieary for our 2 week trip in Sri Lanka, planned flexibilty by Dulmini. Our driver, Mr Jagath, was a fantastic guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would highly recommend Red Dot.

Dear Azariamurray05 We've finally remembered to say thank-you for your review! Sorry it took so long! Fortunately our holiday planning is better.... take care The Red Dot team

We had a fantastic 7 night/8 day tour organised by Dulmini at Red Dot Tours Lanka. From our first contact, we had first class help in devising a varied and well paced itinerary which turned out even better in reality thanks to an exceptional guide, Sujith Rathnayake. The minibus was spotless and comfortable, the hotels were very clean with excellent Covid precautions - and the staff universally welcoming and helpful. we loved every minute from the Millennium Elephant Foundation, to Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella - with spectacular views from our hotel bedroom - and Yala where we saw leopards, elephants, crocs, deer, warthog and huge variety of birds, to Galle and the coast road back to Colombo. We are delighted to give the company and their guides 5 star reviews.

Dear GraniaL-D Many thanks on behalf of Dulmini and Sujith for your delightful comments about your Red Dot holiday in Sri Lanka. Covid and the economic problems that followed have made this a difficult year, but we are happy that our reviews have remained excellent and that we have managed to deliver memorable holidays in Sri Lanka for all our travellers whether they prefer luxury or best budget. That's what we will always try to do! We are confident that we are leading back to normal again. Sorry our reply took so long and best wishes for your future holidays. The Red Dot team

We had a wonderful two-week tour of Sri Lanka booked through Red Dot. The booking process was entirely personalised with our agent, Dulmini, creating a bespoke programme for us with activities and hotels to fit our preferences. She also helped us fill out all of the paperwork to travel (visa, health declaration, insurance etc). When we reached Sri Lanka everything went very smoothly and our guide Sanjeewa was simply fantastic! He drove and guide us around all of the sights but making detours and re-arranging to make sure that we had the best possible experience. We stayed at Water Gardens and visited Sigiriya, Dambulla, Pidurangala, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya and Anuradhpura. We had booked safaris, which were amazing, also a balloon ride but bad weather meant it was cancelled. We then went to Camillia Hills (beautiful) and climbed Sri Pada - which was very busy with lots of queues. We then went to Yala and had 3 days on the beach at Tangalle. Red Dot were great and always responsive and helpful throughout! Highly recommend! Our only negative on our trip was that the whale watching in Merissa was an expensive waste of time - there were a few dolphins but no whales and we spent 4 hours essentially driving around the sea for £500 - I would not advise doing this activity.

Dear GraniaL-D Many thanks on behalf of Dulmini and Sanjeewa for your delightful comments about your Red Dot holiday in Sri Lanka. Covid and the economic problems that followed have made this a difficult year, but we are happy that our reviews have remained excellent and that we have managed to deliver memorable holidays in Sri Lanka for all our travellers whether they prefer luxury or best budget. We are sorry that the whale watching did not work out well. It should have been the perfect time for you to take this trip, but I'm afraid this is never quite 100%. We will keep monitoring feedback on this activity. It does seem that you were unfortunate. Sorry our reply took so long and best wishes for your future holidays. The Red Dot team

Has anyone used Red Dot Tours recently? We were going to arrange driver & accommodation independently but are now looking at booking our whole two weeks through Red Dot. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

yes we used them to organize an 8 day tour the first week of december, and everything went very smoothly. Our consultant Naren was very responsive. I think he was pretty conservative in terms of timing, but you can always plan the main visits and arrange some more when you're there.

We visited all the cultural triangle and stayed 2 nights in a tea estate.

Our guide Ananda was great. Super nice chap, and very reliable.

Let me know if I can give you more details...

thanks for your response - we have decided to go ahead with them - they seem to be fairly well reviewed and I am trying to make this trip as easy and relaxing as possible. It is great to hear from someone who has used them very recently.

We used them in the summer and had no problem at all recommend ing them. Everything went really smoothly

Just following up to see if you used Red Dot in Dec12 as I am looking at booking them for 16 days in August 13 and would be pleased if you could provide some feedback

When I was looking at their web site for hotel prices yesterday I noticed that the prices were generally about $50 higher than I was able to find if I contacted the hotels myself. Havent actually investigated further whether this is because some tax or fee etc hasnt been quoted in one of the prices but I will be looking into it further as I had expected from what I had read that going through a tour company the accom would be cheaper?

red dot tours sri lanka reviews

By all accounts they seem to be good company and maybe we're an isolated case but the tourist market must be booming in Sri Lanka to enable companies to ignore eager tourist willing to book with them. [little rant over...]

I used Red Dot in December, couldn't fault them. I will admit they were slightly more expensive than another company I had contacted but the feedback was excellent so I stuck with Red Dot and happy that I did. Would definitely recommend them and certainly use them again.

I would just like to add the HUGE difference in quote prices I received from Red Dot Tours compared to several other operators.

This is my itinerary:

Day 1 (12/04): Arrive airport at 10am, meet driver and head straight to Dambulla. See caves, night in Dambulla

Day 3 (14/04): Drive to Kandy in morning, driver leaves us in Kandy.

Red Dot quoted an astonishing price today - US$675!!!!

I received a quote from Walkers tours - US$295

From two different recommended small private operators- US$240

Sri Lanka Wide tours - $290

All of these quotes have been provided for the above itinerary within the past week and all had the same conditions and have received good reviews on this forum. I'm not sure how management can claim a difference at minimum of $380 is a 5% difference. Its rather mind-boggling!!!
