10 Avengers Powerful Enough To Rule The Marvel Universe

Every hulk alternate version, ranked by strength, shazam's tragic family history might destroy the dc universe permanently.

Crossovers between the different eras of the  Star Trek  franchise are rare but highly valued by fans of the iconic sci-fi property. In film and television, Star Trek has never intersected with other genre franchises, but in comic books, they've crossed over with a surprising number of them.

RELATED: Star Trek: 10 Best Costumes, Ranked

Star Trek has made the most of the comic book medium by interacting with a variety of sci-fi franchises but also comic book-native ones, including the X-Men and Legion Of Super-Heroes , bringing the sandbox dreams of fans to four-color life.

10 Crossover With The Transformers, The Ghostbusters, & G.I. Joe

Infestation is one of the most ambitious comic book crossovers in recent years. It brought together all the major entertainment licenses IDW holds, including Star Trek , Transformers , G.I. Joe , and Ghostbusters in a space and time-spanning adventure.

This 2011 epic saw hordes of zombies infiltrate the individual universes of these franchises and they join forces to stop them. This wouldn't be the last crossover between Star Trek and the Transformers for IDW, with this story being one of the most essential Transformers comics .

9 Crossover With Star-Spangled War Stories

Star Trek 's first-ever crossover in comics is also one of its strangest. This crossover occurred in 1974 during the Gold Key Comics era of Star Trek . The most interesting thing about it is that it's not really a crossover at all, but a subtle sequel to an earlier story.

Star Trek  #22, written by Gerry Boudreau, with art by Alberto Giolitti, is an unbilled sequel to two of Boudreau's works from DC Comics' Star-Spangled War Stories — issues #170 (June 1973) and #180 (May-June 1974). The character Rhuna gives the backstory of the DC comics in Star Trek , connecting the two separate works. This unusual circumstance was revealed later by the writer in a blog post about Gold Key .

8 Crossover With Bloom County

The blink and you'll miss it Gold Key crossover isn't the strangest Star Trek interaction with another franchise though. Writer Peter David wrote the 1980s DC Comics version of the comic, as well as numerous best-selling Star Trek novels like Imzadi. He included a sly and quick crossover, of sorts, to a popular comics strip called Bloom County .

In issue #51, Captain Kirk hallucinates that Spock, Scotty, and Sulu have been replaced by the  Bloom County characters of Opus, Portnoy, and Hodge-Podge.

7 Crossover With Green Lantern

Star Trek crossed over with a major DC Comics superhero many years later. In many respects, the connection to Green Lantern is obvious. The Green Lantern Corps is as much about exploration and security in the galaxy as Starfleet is. But the crossover didn't take place at DC, but IDW Comics.

RELATED: The 10 Weirdest Star Trek Guest Stars

IDW's two crossovers took Green Lantern Hal Jordan to the alternate Kelvin Universe for Mike Johnson's Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War (2015) and its sequel, Star Trek/Green Lantern: Stranger Worlds (2016). Green Lantern is perhaps an easy crossover; many X-Men would make good Green Lanterns as well.

6 Crossover With The Legion Of Super-Heroes

The original Prime timeline of Star Trek crossed over with another cosmic group from DC Comics, the Legion of Super-Heroes. This event again was brought to life by IDW Comics, rather than DC.

In this miniseries, the U.S.S. Enterprise  encounters the Legionnaires after both groups end up on 23rd-century Earth, but it's not the earth either recognizes. The two teams work well together, proving that Legion Of Super-Heroes, like the Green Lantern Corps, is an easy group for other heroes to cross into.

5 Crossover With The X-Men

Star Trek and the X-Men may not seem as natural a fit as the cosmic entities of DC Comics, but the two franchises share a deep appreciation of diversity and exploration of the human condition.

It wasn't a huge surprise then that the two finally intersected in the 1996 one-shot Star Trek/X-Me n. Though limited in scope, this story likely ranks high among the best X-Men crossovers for some fans due to the inventive way it happens. Gary Mitchell, the villain from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"— one of the best episodes of the original Star Trek — rips open reality.

4 Crossover With Doctor Who

It wasn't only the original Star Trek crew that did all the crossing over—  The Next Generation era got in on the act as well. Given how intrinsic time travel is to both Star Trek and Doctor Who , it's no surprise the two franchises found each other in the IDW epic event  Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 .

The Borg, some of the greatest Star Trek villains of all time, team up with the Cybermen to unleash a robotic horde on the universe. The crew of the Enterprise-D joins forces with the Eleventh Doctor to stop them.

3 Another Crossover With The X-Men

The X-Men would team up with Star Trek again, but this time with The Next Generation crew.  Star Trek: The Next Generation/X-Men: Second Contact , written by Dan Abnett & Ian Edginton and with art by Cary Nord & Scott Koblish, debuted in 1998.

RELATED: Marvel: 5 Alien Superheroes Who Would Fit In On The Starship Enterprise (& 5 That Wouldn't)

In this story, Kang The Conqueror diverts the Enterprise to an alternate 20th century where they encounter the X-Men, and work together to stop Kang from another attempt to rewrite history.

2 Crossover With Planet Of The Apes

IDW Comics and Boom! Studios joined forces to unite the franchises of Star Trek and Planet Of The Apes in grand fashion. 2014's Star Trek/Planet of the Apes: The Primate Directive  saw the crew of the original Enterprise team up with the heroes of the original Planet Of The Apes movie, including Cornelius, in order to fight back Klingon invaders from another time. The Klingons join up with the ruling apes to make it a fierce but fun battle for fans of both franchises.

1 Animated Series-Inspired Crossover With The Transformers

One of the most unique crossovers was 2019's Star Trek Vs. Transformers by IDW Comics. This five-issue limited series combined the casts of Star Trek: The Animated Series and the 1984 Transformers animated series, the original and still best Transformers cartoon .

This unique story saw the Enterprise encounter Decepticons trying to steal dilithium to take back to their own time. The series had been meant to be only four issues, but the positive reaction bumped it up to five.

7 'Star Trek' Comic Crossovers That Made Every Nerd Lose Their Minds

star trek comic crossovers

This summer, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will boldly go where no man has gone before -- except for Hal Jordan, of course.

As part of a partnership with DC Comics, IDW Publishing recently announced a limited crossover series in which Captain Kirk and his Enterprise crew will team up with the Green Lantern. "The Spectrum War," by Mike Johnson and Angel Hernandez, will begin in July and run for six issues.

This isn't the first time 'Star Trek' has gotten the comic crossover treatment -- actually, it's been happening a lot lately, and often involves some of the most popular franchises and characters in Nerddom, from Wolverine to the Doctor himself.

Grab something to hold onto, because all of this crossover goodness is gonna to make you want to jump like you're being attacked by Klingon warships:

"Star Trek" meets "The X-Men"

Back in 1996, Marvel Comics began putting out comic book titles that tied-in to the 'Star Trek' franchise as part of a deal with Paramount Pictures. This included a single-issue crossover where Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Beast (yes, there IS a "why are there two Dr. McCoys" joke), Storm, Gambit, and Bishop follow the alien Shi'ar race into a dimensional rift that put them face to face with the crew of the Enterprise.

Ultimately the Paramount imprint was short-lived, but it DID give us what every nerd really wants deep down in their hearts: Mr. Spock giving Wolverine a Vulcan Neck Pinch. And the geekgasms didn't stop there!

"Star Trek: The Next Generation" meets "The X-Men"

Following the success of the first crossover, another one-shot comic called called "Second Contact," followed Picard and his Enterprise-E crew back into the X-Men universe, where they must team up with Wolverine, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler, Angel, and Kitty Pryde to stop Kang the Conquerer from taking over all possible realities. As you can imagine, Wolf and Wolverine have a beautiful bonding moment over being displeased with everything.

"Star Trek" meets "The Legion of Superheroes"

In the DC Comics Universe, the Legion of Superheroes is a future team of time-travelers from the 30th and 31st centuries who come back to the past to recruit Superboy as a member. Eventually they gained enough popularity with readers that they got their own ongoing series, and were relaunched in 2011 as part of the New 52.

As part of the relaunch, DC also teamed up with IDW to mash-up their futuristic legion with the cast of the original 1996 'Star Trek.' The six-issue crossover was set towards the end of the Enterprise's five year mission, and features the Legion journeying to an alternate 23rd century and meeting up with Kirk and the gang.

"Star Trek" meets "Doctor Who"

The Bog and the Cyberman team up in this eight issue series from IDW, and it's up to the eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, and the crew of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" to stop them.

It's also heavily implied at the end of the series that the only reason the Borg decided to interfere with Earth's timeline during the "Star Trek: First Contact" movie is because they were inspired by their encounter with the Doctor to study time travel. Whoops!

"Star Trek" Meets "The Planet of the Apes"

Called "The Primate Directive" (honstly the whole crossover is worth it just for that amazing title), this IDW series is still being published -- the fifth and final issue comes out later this month on the 22nd. Kirk and his crew must team up with George Taylor and Doctor Zaius to defeat a gorilla military coup that have been backed by Klingon forces.

"Star Trek" Meets... "Star Trek"

Everyone knows that the new rebooted "Star Trek" movies existed in an alternate timeline from the original TV show continuity -- Future-Spock explained it all pretty thoroughly in the 2009 film., right?

But that also means that the new crew can jump across dimensions and visit any other part of the franchise it wants, which they totally did in a "Star Trek" comic storyline called "The Q Gambit." Yeah, of COURSE Q, the all-powerful antagonist from "The Next Generation," was involved. How ELSE would you get Chris Pine's Kirk and "Deep Space Nine" Captain Benjamin Sisko in a room together?

"Star Trek" Meets "The Green Lantern"

According to the publishers, "the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lanterns Corps' Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner.

We can guess from the first issue cover that General Chang from "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" will factor into the story, but who are these other characters who're getting rings? Guess we'll have to wait until July to find out!

God killers target Sisko and Worf in IDW's 'Star Trek: Day of Blood' story arc

A new prelude issue for Free Comic Book Day ushers in this first-ever "Star Trek" crossover event.

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood heads to the Klingon homeworld with an arena

For the first time since taking over command of the official "Star Trek" comic book line in 2007, IDW Publishing will present "Star Trek: Day of Blood," an absorbing 5-issue crossover event beginning this July that joins together the new "Star Trek" flagship title with the upcoming " Star Trek: Defiant " series arriving in March.

This brash " Star Trek " new storyline is being given a special introductory one-shot for Free Comic Book Day on May 6 with " Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood ," co-written by esteemed Trek comic creators Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell with artwork by Mike Feehan.

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood with bloody Federation insignia.

""Star Trek: Day of Blood" is what this last year of comic book planning has been all about," says senior editor Heather Antos in an IDW press release . "It all leads to this moment. Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf's Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we've ever seen in "Star Trek" comics, and it's time to answer them in the franchise’s first-ever classic summer crossover event."

Here’s the official synopsis:

"In Prelude to Day of Blood, the U.S.S. Santa Cruz travels to the Korvat colony for Kot’baval. But what was supposed to be a simple observation of the sacred Klingon festival quickly turns into a bloodbath when the cult of the godkiller reveals themselves to the universe."

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood characters landing on a Klingon world in a shuttlecraft.

"It's time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past," Lanzing said in the statment. "And for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. " Deep Space Nine " is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started."

Cantwell admits to being nothing short of ecstatic to be a vital creative player in IDW's expansive "Star Trek" initiative.

"There were moments in our writers' room with Jackson and Collin where I couldn't believe we were really doing this," he adds. "Not just telling one "Star Trek" story but weaving together multiple Trek stories at the same time, with plotlines from "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Defiant" converging. We threw all our boldest ideas and best character pairings into a story of pure chaos, starship battles, and real epic dramatic resonance you can only achieve in the scope of comics."

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood

"Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood" lands on May 6  with cover art by Malachi Ward.

"As lifelong "Star Trek" fans, Jack and I have been dreaming of this kind of thing since we can remember," Kelly notes. "This is the kind of event you could only do in comics, with enormous stakes and two starship crews colliding in the middle of a truly deadly crisis. This is our season finale."

To follow the entire "Day of Blood" story arc, readers can step aboard these five issues: "Star Trek: Day of Blood #1" (July 2023); "Star Trek: Defiant #6" (August 2023); "Star Trek #11" (August 2023); "Star Trek: Defiant #7" (September 2023); and "Star Trek #12" (September 2023).

star trek comic crossovers

Celebrating the best of tv, movies, and comics

Star Trek: Day of Blood is a "lost episode" crossing over multiple generations, says creators

Star Trek: Day of Blood is the franchise's first official comic book crossover event

Decades before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Trek was the original cross media 'shared universe,' with a continuity that included television, movies, and a final frontier of spin-off material that may or may not have been canon — a fact that will be celebrated this summer, as IDW Publishing launched Star Trek: Day of Blood — a "universe-shaking" crossover event between its main Star Trek comic book series and the upcoming Star Trek: Defiant ongoing series.

And it includes a nod to Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

Star Trek: Day of Blood will kick off May 6, 2023 with 'Prelude to Day of Blood' — IDW's 2023 Free Comic Book Day special, before spilling into the aforementioned Star Trek ongoing comic books, starting with August’s Star Trek: Defiant #6 and Star Trek #11. The storyline will run through the following month’s issues of each series.

The FCBD Star Trek cover with blood trickling down over a Starfleet communications badge is evocative of Dave Gibbons' iconic Watchmen #1 cover - one that IDW senior editor (and defacto lead Star Trek editor) Heather Antos knows well, and has used in her personal social media imagery.

The five-part storyline — six, if you include the Free Comic Book Day prelude issue — spins out of events in the ongoing Star Trek series, as Kahless II, emperor of the Klingon Empire, decades war on everyone not following the cult of the Red Path… including whatever deities he deems deserving of a good death. Benjamin Sisko and the crew of the USS Theseus have to do whatever it takes to keep the peace — but where do the renegades on the USS Defiant, led by an increasingly desperate Worf, fall into the grand scheme of things?

“I sincerely believe that Day of Blood is the ‘lost episode/movie/epic limited series’ that Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and The Next Generation fans have been dying for,” Star Trek: Defiant writer Christopher Cantwell said in a statement about the storyline. “But what’s truly amazing is that beyond those series, we’re tying in a heaping dose of Lower Decks (in the form of Shaxs), the original series (including a reunion of Spock and Scotty) and so many other aspects of this universe. It’s truly a galactic panacea unlike any Trek story I’ve encountered in the past as a fan.”

Free Comic Book Day 2023 cover

“Star Trek was the original shared universe…so Collin, Chris, and I are deeply honored to continue to bring a line-wide continuity and intricately planned storyline to the new IDW comics line,” added Jackson Lanzing, who co-writes Star Trek with Collin Kelly. “Our very first pitch on this story included two interlocking ongoing titles that could build to a kind of event unlike any that Trek comics have managed before — an inspiring, mind-bending flagship series in Star Trek and a more subtle, dark, and dangerous series in Defiant. It was an absolute pipe dream of a pitch, one that we never imagined would become the backbone of a hit new comics line—nor unite us with a writer of Christopher Cantwell’s caliber, who would push us to constantly deliver next-level comics storytelling, nor masterful artists like Ramon Rosanas and Ángel Unzueta, who would elevate every page with their designs, artistry, and ambition. And now, one year into the line, we’re finally ready to bring it all to a head with our very first line-wide comics event.”

Star Trek: Day of Blood will be the first proper comic book crossover inside the Star Trek franchise. Although Star Trek has had memorable comic book crossovers with other franchises such as X-Men, Green Lantern, Doctor Who, and even the Transformers, Day of Blood will be the first time two Star Trek comic book series have crossed over, although DC published a crossover miniseries Star Trek: Deep Space Nine/The Next Generation in 1994, even if the actual series themselves weren’t part of the event.

IDW is in the midst of having one of the most thriving Star Trek era for comic books, with two ongoing series (Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant), and miniseries for Strange New Worlds and the video game Star Trek: Resurgence underway, with miniseries tying into both Picard and Lower Decks having recently finished their runs.

This 2023 Star Trek comic book crossover comes just as the Star Trek TV shows are also planning a crossover. It's already been announced that Lower Decks ensigns Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) and Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) will appear in a hybrid live-action/animated episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' second season this summer.

Star Trek: Day of Blood launches with the Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood FCBD issue May 6, 2023. The full release schedule for the event is:

  • May 6: Star Trek: Prelude of Day of Blood
  • July 19: Star Trek: Day of Blood #1
  • August: Star Trek: Defiant #6
  • August: Star Trek #11
  • September: Star Trek: Defiant #7
  • September: Star Trek #12

IDW Has revealed their line of Star Trek comics is crossing over, starting with Star Trek: Day of Blood . It all begins in the Free Comic Book day Comic out May 6th. The crossover will involve the newly minted Star Trek and the recently announced Star Trek: Defiant series, launching in March. Prelude to Day of Blood will be co-written by veteran Trek comic creators Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell, with art by Mike Feehan.

“Star Trek: Day of Blood is what this last year of comic book planning has been all about,” says senior editor Heather Antos. “It all leads to this moment. Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf’s Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we’ve ever seen in Star Trek comics, and it’s time to answer them in the franchise’s first-ever classic summer crossover event.”

Judging by the preview below, the crossover heavily involves Worf and what looks like Spock!

So what’s Star Trek: Day of Blood about?

In Prelude to Day of Blood, the U.S.S. Santa Cruz travels to the Korvat colony for Kot’baval. But what was supposed to be a simple observation of the sacred Klingon festival quickly turns into a bloodbath when the cult of the godkiller reveals themselves to the universe.

“I’ve been nothing short of ecstatic to be a part of this new, larger Star Trek initiative at IDW,” says Cantwell. “There were moments in our writers’ room with Jackson and Collin where I couldn’t believe we were really doing this—not just telling one Star Trek story but weaving together multiple Trek stories at the same time, with plotlines from Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant converging. We threw all our boldest ideas and best character pairings into a story of pure chaos, starship battles, and real epic dramatic resonance you can only achieve in the scope of comics.”

“It’s time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past,” says Lanzing, “and for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. Deep Space Nine is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started.”

Following the May FCBD one-shot, the full  Star Trek: Day of Blood  arc will include the following issues:

  •   Star Trek: Day of Blood  #1 (July 2023)
  •   Star Trek: Defiant  #6 (August 2023)
  •   Star Trek  #11 (August 2023)
  •   Star Trek: Defiant  #7 (September 2023)
  •   Star Trek  #12 (September 2023)

A crossover doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given the incredible talent behind the IDW Star Trek books, plus Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly basically hinted at a crossover coming at some point on the AIPT Comics podcast .

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood will be available as a Free Comic Book Day exclusive on May 6, 2023, and will feature cover art by Malachi Ward. Check out a preview below.

We threw all our boldest ideas and best character pairings into a story of pure chaos, starship battles, and real epic dramatic resonance you can only achieve in the scope of comics.” “It’s time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past,” says Lanzing, “and for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. Deep Space Nine is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started.” “As lifelong Star Trek fans, Jack and I have been dreaming of this kind of thing since we can remember. This is the kind of event you could only do in comics, with enormous stakes and two starship crews colliding in the middle of a truly deadly crisis. This is our season finale, and it all begins in Free Comic Book Day’s Prelude to Day of Blood.” “Star Trek: Day of Blood is what this last year of comic book planning has been all about,” says senior editor Heather Antos. “It all leads to this moment. Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf’s Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we’ve ever seen in Star Trek comics, and it’s time to answer them in the franchise’s first-ever classic summer crossover event.” Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood will be available as a Free Comic Book Day exclusive on May 6, 2023 and will feature cover art by Malachi Ward. Following the May FCBD one-shot, the full Star Trek: Day of Blood arc will include the following issues: Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 (July 2023) Star Trek: Defiant #6 (August 2023) Star Trek #11 (August 2023) Star Trek: Defiant #7 (September 2023) Star Trek #12 (September 2023) For information on how to acquire copies of Star Trek comic books, please contact your local comic shop or visit www.comicshoplocator.com to find a store near you.

Trek meets Planet of The Apes in IDW's Comic Crossover Debut

star trek comic crossovers

Star Trek fans went ape in July, when StarTrek.com broke the news that IDW Publishing was hard at work on a Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover comic book series. Well, now we can reveal that Issue #1 of the 5-part tale will be available in December. Scott and David Tipton, the brothers behind many popular Trek comics and IDW's blockbuster The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 crossover series, are the writers, and they’re joined by British rookie Rachael Stott, who’s realizing the interior art and -- along with Juan Ortiz – the covers.

star trek comic crossovers

Here’s IDW’s synopsis of Star Trek/Planet of the Apes #1 (of 5) : “ Star Trek : The hope for the best of mankind's future. Planet of the Apes : A chilling look at the fall of humanity. How could these worlds possibly collide? What could possibly cause Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise to side with Dr. Zaius to protect Ape City?  And what does Colonel George Taylor have to say about it? It's a madhouse! A madhouse!!”

Star Trek/Planet of the Apes #1 will run 32 pages and cost $3.99. Subscribers should be on the lookout for a variant featuring a cover by George Perez, and all fans should also ask their local retailer about a blank sketch cover variant and a Tone Rodriguez cover variant.

IDW Reveals Covers And Details For ‘Day Of Blood’ Summer Star Trek Comics Crossover Event

star trek comic crossovers

| April 18, 2023 | By: TrekMovie.com Staff 4 comments so far

Earlier this year IDW announced the Day of Blood crossover event coming to their ongoing Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant series. They have now released more details and a few covers.

Day of Blood

The Day of Blood storyline gets teased with a special prelude issue on Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 6th, with a story written by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Christopher Cantwell, and illustrated by Mike Feehan. The series kicks off in earnest in July with the Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 one-shot special and continues on through the next four issues of Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant , arriving in August and September.

“Creating the first-ever Star Trek comic book summer event was our goal from the very beginning of conversations surrounding Star Trek #1’s launch last fall,” says IDW senior editor Heather Antos in a statement. “The fact that both series have been received so well—all credit to the amazing team of writers and artists across the line—is absolutely incredible. We’re only going bigger, badder, and more boldly in Day of Blood .”

Here is a synopsis for the series:

The emperor of the Klingon Empire, Kahless II, will declare war on all those who do not follow the cult of the Red Path! Having raided ancient tombs, claimed near-limitless power for himself, and slaughtered cosmic entities across the stars, Kahless sees the genocide of gods as simply his first step to total domination. The iconic crew of the U.S.S. Theseus, led by Benjamin Sisko, and the renegades who follow a desperate, violent Worf aboard the U.S.S. Defiant must unite for a common cause. Only together can they hope to stop the Day of Blood!

Day of Blood #1 Cover A by Malachi Ward

“Star Trek was the original shared universe…so Collin, Chris, and I are deeply honored to continue to bring a line-wide continuity and intricately planned storyline to the new IDW comics line,” says Lanzing in a statement. “Our very first pitch on this story included two interlocking ongoing titles that could build to a kind of event unlike any that Trek comics have managed before—an inspiring, mind-bending flagship series in Star Trek and a more subtle, dark, and dangerous series in Defiant.

Cover A for Part 2 of Day of Blood in Star Trek: Defiant #6 by Malachi Ward

“Worf has a warning for his one-time friend and captain, Benjamin Sisko: Kahless the Unforgettable, the sovereign of the Klingon Empire and killer of gods, is preparing to unleash something truly horrific on his own people. Converging on the Klingon homeworld, the two crews will have their long-awaited reunion…but even with tempers hot, the two have no choice but to put aside old grievances or else watch the carefully cultivated peace of the Beta Quadrant burn in the fires of holy crusade. With mighty Kahless at their head, the Red Path will not be stopped until all those who do not share their absolute faith are cut down,” says Kelly. “We started laying the groundwork for this story in Star Trek: Year Five , built upon it in Star Trek: Aliens—Klingons , and then will truly kick it off in this year’s Free Comic Book Day prelude, so it’s no exaggeration that Day of Blood is an event three years in the making!”

“I sincerely believe that Day of Blood is the ‘lost episode/movie/epic limited series’ that Deep Space Nine , Voyager , and The Next Generation fans have been dying for. But what’s truly amazing is that beyond those series, we’re tying in a heaping dose of Lower Decks (in the form of Shaxs), the original series (including a reunion of Spock and Scotty) and so many other aspects of this universe. It’s truly a galactic panacea unlike any Trek story I’ve encountered in the past as a fan,” says Cantwell. “What’s also wonderful about this series is that things happen in it that can only exist in the realm of comics in terms of scope and pure sci-fi imagination, all anchored by beautiful core themes of partnership, parenthood, second chances, and the belief in a better tomorrow…whether that be a utopian or a vainglorious one. Buckle in because this is the Trek saga of my dreams!”

IDW Celebrating 500th Star Trek Comic With Big Era-Spanning Anthology

Alright, some of the comic art is outright clumsy – but this cover of the Klingon (Kahless?) swinging the bat’leth is super cool.

I agree on both counts.

Also, Jackson Lanzing says above that Star Trek is the original shared universe. I hope he was joking, because that’s not even remotely true. I think the Universal Monsters and Godzilla would beg to differ.

is the art coming from high school art class final projects or something? Comically bad (pun intended).

Also: ‘It’s truly a galactic panacea unlike any Trek story I’ve encountered in the past as a fan’

Bro….there have been crew mashups like that for ages…..and I’m not sure if the writer of the series understands what the word ‘panacea’ means. This doesn’t bode well :\

I was thinking the same thing. I keep seeing interviews with these writers that make me think they believe they’re writing the first major Trek series crossover. I think DC, Malibu, Marvel (especially), Wildstorm and Pocket would all majorly disagree. The current series are fun, but they’re not anything overly new. Every few years, a publisher puts out a series combining characters from multiple series. Heck, Peter David’s New Frontier went on for YEARS with that format. And Marvel’s Telepathy War crossed over to every single title they published.

As one of the longest-running sci-fi franchises of all time, Star Trek has generated more than its fair share of merchandise. Before Star Wars and before the MCU , the ruler of geeky ephemera is easily Star Trek.

In 2024, Star Trek is bigger than ever. Not only is it celebrating the 60th anniversary of the filming of the first episode ever — “The Cage” in 1964 — but this year is the 40th anniversary of one of the most pivotal films in the franchise ever, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock . On TV, this spring will see the return of Star Trek: Discovery , which will host a premiere at the SXSW Film & TV festival , for its fifth and final season, while a new Michelle Yeoh-led Section 31 film is actively filming and expected to drop late this year. Meanwhile, the hush-hush Starfleet Academy series is ramping up, indicating that the Final Frontier isn’t going away any time soon.

From the very beginning, Star Trek has created some wild and cool Star Trek stuff. From action figures to comics to trading cards and more, the amount of Star Trek collectibles is as vast as it is complicated. But, over the course of a nearly 60-year mission, which Star Trek collectibles are truly the strangest? Here’s a brief guide to some of the boldest, rarest, and most fascinating Star Trek collectibles you can pick up on eBay.

Star Trek Gold Key Comics #1

In October 1967, Gold Key Comics launched a Star Trek series in which artist Alberto Giolitti recreated the Enterprise crew only from publicity photos. This results in a wacky through-the-looking-glass version of the crew, which is both gorgeous and bizarre. In the Gold Key Trek universe, the classic Enterprise has “thousands” of crew members, the transporter is called the “teleporter,” and everybody is still rocking lasers. Spock also gets pretty upset in the first issue. And don’t even mention the uniform colors.

Early issues often featured photo montages on the cover, including the first issue, which sported Spock on the cover holding a beaker looking ready to do some science. The actual story inside this first Trek comic was called “The Planet of No Return” and is mostly about killer plants. If this story was ever made into an actual episode, the crew killing all the plant aliens would cause a bigger controversy than anything anyone has ever said about “Tuvix.” The Gold Key Trek comics are wonderfully wacky, though, and the first issue goes for about $500.

Star Trek: Early Voyages (Marvel Comics, 1996)

Marvel Comics has possessed the license to make Star Trek comics only twice, and each time, the tenure was very short. The first time was connected to the release of The Motion Picture , from 1979 to 1981. But the second time, from 1996 to 1998, was easily the most interesting. Although this period produced several cool titles, the Early Voyages series is the one to look out for now. Well before Paramount created Strange New Worlds , the Early Voyages comic series focused on the adventures of Captain Pike, Spock, Number One, and the crew of the Enterprise before The Original Series . The individual issues aren’t super expensive on eBay, but tracking down each issue makes collecting this series pretty fun. Detail-obsessed fans will also get a kick out of issue #14, when, in an alternate future, Captain Pike is rocking a movie-era monster maroon uniform. Yep! Just like in the 2022 Strange New Worlds season 1 finale! Prices for individual Early Voyages issues vary, but you can generally get the whole series for under $50.

Alien Insectoid and Betel’s Attendant, TOPPS Star Trek: The Motion Picture Trading Cards

Star Trek trading cards have existed since 1967, but the first set to really go hardcore on super random obscure details is the 1979 Star Trek: The Motion Picture set from Topps. For those who don’t remember the extremely random “Alien Insectoid” and “Betel’s Attendant” from the movie, you’re forgiven. These creatures were mostly glimpsed as background aliens when Kirk arrives at Federation headquarters. In the case of “Betel’s Attendant,” this alien is a Betelgeusian, a deeply obscure Star Trek species that wasn’t really re-canonized until 2019 in Star Trek: Discovery . While some cards from the 1979 Topps set are easier to get, the super-rare Alien Insectoid and Betel’s Attendant tend to be worth at least a thousand dollars.

Geordi La Forge Funko Pop NYCC 2023 Exclusive

There are a lot of great Star Trek Funkos, but the coolest one is actually a New York Comic Con exclusive that dropped in 2023. It features Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) in the captain’s chair of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D. But Geordi is rocking a red uniform here, which means this moment comes from Season 1 of The Next Generation . And the captain’s chair Geordi is sitting in may not be the one you think it is.

While still rocking that red, Geordi took command in the TNG Season 1 episode “The Arsenal of Freedom.” This is one of a handful of episodes in TNG in which the Enterprise separates into two ships — the saucer section and the battle section. For most of the episode, Geordi commands the Enterprise from the battle bridge, and this Funko seems to represent that moment, which literally only happened in one episode.

Enterprise Trek Tech — Phase Pistol and Communicator

In 2002, just one year after Enterprise debuted, Art Asylum created an astoundingly accurate roleplaying set featuring the Phase Pistol and Communicator from the 22nd Century version of Starfleet. Like the rest of the aesthetic design of Enterprise, the precursor to the phaser was designed to be a retro-futuristic, predating the gear of The Original Series . But this toy Phase Pistol holds a unique distinction in Star Trek history. Eventually, the producers of Enterprise replaced the Phase Pistol prop with the toy version. Basically, the toy produced by Art Asylum looked better and was cheaper to make than the props created for the series. So, if you snag one of these Phase Pistols, you’re getting a Star Trek toy that is also a legitimate Star Trek prop. Because of the notoriety of these toys, the 2002 Trek Tech set can fetch up to $400.

Star Trek Collectable Cups: From Taco Bell to Circle K

Over the years, various companies have created limited-release Star Trek cups and glassware to tie in with the release of a new series or film. The most enduring and legitimately cool examples of this are probably the 1984 Taco Bell glasses created for The Search for Spock . These four glasses are fairly easy to track down, and a complete set can cost anywhere from $50 to $100.

Buy The Search for Spock Taco Bell Glasses here

In 1987, you could put your ICEE in special Star Trek: The Next Generation plastic cups from Circle K and other places that sold ICEEs. Today, these are pretty hard to track down, and some factory-sealed boxes cost about $140. However, the actual set of cups can be closer to $60. Warning: Picard’s eyes look really weird.

Buy The Next Generation ICEE Cups here

Lastly, and probably the coolest of the weird Star Trek promotional cup category, are the ICEE cups created for Deep Space Nine in 1993. These are unique because instead of photographs from the show, the cups had wonderful art created for the Malibu Comics adaptation of DS9 . These aren’t too expensive, but getting a complete set of four cups is very, very difficult!

Star Trek IV: Movie Cast Bomber Jacket

This one-of-a-kind jacket was created only for the cast and crew of The Voyage Home in 1986. Interestingly, this jacket also features a massive spoiler on the back since it depicts the reborn Enterprise-A hovering above the Golden Gate Bridge. Obviously, the Enterprise doesn’t fly this close to the Earth in the movie, but the revelation that the Enterprise returns only happens at the end of the movie! Either way, it’s really fun to imagine Leonard Nimoy wearing this jacket while directing the movie. There are only a few of these floating around, and they tend to run between $200 and $400.

Lower Decks USS TITAN from Eaglemoss/Hero Collector

For years, the good people at Eaglemoss produced high-quality replicas of various starships from the Star Trek canon, so many, in fact, that they even created models of some ships that never existed. But, in 2022, Eaglemoss went out of business, which meant that some of the last ships produced by the company became very rare. One of those ships was the USS Titan, as featured in Lower Decks Season 1 and Season 2. This was Riker’s first Titan before the Titan-A we saw in Picard Season 3. The Lower Decks version is tough to track down, meaning it will set you back at least $120.

Canon Breakers

Sometimes, Star Trek tie-in merchandise is so weird that it can’t even be contained by the widely expansive canon of the series itself. While the continuity of Star Trek is actually pretty flexible relative to other franchises, these items totally break canon — or do they?

Star Trek/X-MEN #1 (1996)

Without a doubt, the most bizarre Star Trek crossover of all time was the moment when the crew of the classic Enterprise crossed over with the X-Men . During the 30th anniversary of Star Trek in 1996, Marvel wasted no time in taking advantage of obtaining the license to make Trek comics. Could this make sense in some kind of multiverse? Better yet, could somebody try to actually turn this into a movie in our lifetimes? Come for the bonkers premise, but stay for the meeting of the minds between Spock and Beast.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles + Star Trek

In 1994, you could not buy standalone versions of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock as action figures from Playmates. But, at that time, you could get mash-up versions of Kirk and Spock as…Ninja Turtles! In one of the strangest crossovers ever, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were turned into faux-versions of Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Scotty. These Starfleet turtles came with an assortment of legit Trek gear, as well as their normal ninja weapons.

1968 Star Trek Tracer-Scope Rifle

Sometimes billed as the “first Star Trek toy,” this rifle toy was clearly a repackaged version of another toy. While the toy claims you can “launch a flight of jet-discs into space,” nothing like this exists in the canon of Star Trek. Even in episodes in which the crew travels back in time or gets stuck in war game simulations, nobody ever has a Tracer-Scope Rifle. But that doesn’t stop this strange aberration from being very, very valuable. Some versions of this 1968 toy rifle are upwards in the range of $3,000, still in the box.

Star Trek 1967 Leaf Trading Cards

In 1967, the first Star Trek series was ending its first season and beginning its second. And so, trading cards were created by a company called Leaf. Without a doubt, these are the strangest Star Trek cards ever, specifically because nearly every single card describes a story or situation that never happened in any Trek episode. Here are a few examples: Card #42 features a photo of Captain Kirk with the title “Kirk Outside Spock Inside.” The text on the back of the card then describes the scenario as a body-swap story in which crew members “see Captain Kirk, but the personality is Mr. Spock.” In order to undo this freaky mishap, Dr. McCoy has to use “shock ion treatment” to switch their personalities back. Obviously, this episode of Star Trek doesn’t exist, even though the setup is similar to the 2022 Strange New Worlds episode “Spock Amok,” in which Spock and T’Pring switched bodies.

That said, we likely won’t see an episode like Card #23 any time soon. This one is called “Teeny Bopper” and features an image of Spock and Bones in what looks like an outtake. The description reads: “A weird gas causes Spock to believe he is a 1967 teeny bopper. Dr. McCoy attempts to restrain him. There appears no antidote.” These cards vary in value, but the best ones tend to go for hundreds of dollars.

The Spock Helmet

This is the big one! Released in 1976 by Enco Industries, this toy was, at the time, called “The Official Star Trek Helmet. This outrageous toy had a red light on top and a black antenna. And, although we call it the “Spock Helmet,” it actually came with decals that let you affix the names of different crew members, including Kirk, McCoy, and Scott. Just in case you’re not clear on this, nobody ever wore anything like this in The Original Series . But in 2020, Lower Decks finally did canonize this helmet, as it was revealed to be part of Beckett Mariner’s “contraband.” In 2019, Ethan Peck — Spock on Strange New Worlds and Discovery — unboxed a 1976 Spock Helmet for StarTrek.com . Arguably, nobody has looked better wearing this helmet, but if you want to get one for yourself, you’ll need about $800 for the one in the box and about $50  for the one out of the box.

The Star Trek comics are using the newer characters better than their original show

S tar Trek had a nasty habit as of late of creating some really great characters that were saddled with either bad storylines or terrible shows. Few newer actors or actresses suffered from poor writing like Isa Briones who played a bevy of characters when she joined Star Trek: Picard.

She played numerous characters across the show, changing across the two seasons she featured in. One of the last characters she played was Kore Soong, a clone created by Adam Soong, of the same Soong that would create Data. Her creation was kept hidden from her, as she believed she was Adam's daughter until the truth came out.

She'd eventually join up with Wil Wheaton's character, Wesley Crusher, as he recruited her to join him and the Travelers as they explored time and space. it was a solid sendoff for the character, despite not having the best season around her as a character.

Well, whatever issues the show had, the folks who are writing the comic book side of things have no such issues with presenting her in a new light. In Star Trek #20 (via ScreenRant ), we find out what happened to Soong after the events of Picard. She's now a high-ranking member of the Travelers and is someone who believes in the mission wholeheartedly.

With Benjamin Sisko starring in the new line of comics as the captain of the Theseus, the captain and its ship are looking to explore past the Galactic Barrier, a big no-no and one that is being meant with some serious resistance. Kore is leading the group who are hoping to bar Sisko from exploring further and in doing so, not only gives her character so much more uniqueness than ever before, but we're finally seeing what could be beyond the barrier.

It's stuff like this that fans want to see. While the comics count as canon, that's only the case for now. Who knows how long this stuff will count for as the next series head could opt to remove these stories from existence, but until they do, we at least get to see how well these newer characters could've looked.

The shows didn't do them justice but the comics are seriously making up for anything that was missing.

The overall success of the Transformers movies has repeatedly led Paramount to attempt to launch other movie franchises based on Hasbro products. This included multiple attempts to start a G.I. Joe franchise and develop other properties that never got off the ground. Additionally, the rise of shared universes in Hollywood eventually led to the consideration of starting a Hasbro Cinematic Universe, which was seemingly abandoned. The reality is that the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ending twist confirms that a Hasbro shared universe is already underway. Here is a full breakdown of the road to this point and what the future could hold.

Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Establishes Hasbro’s Cinematic Universe

The Hasbro Cinematic Universe is now here after the final Transformers: Rise of the Beasts G.I. Joe crossover scene. Anthony Ramos' Noah Diaz is recruited to join the secret organization by Agent Burke (Michael Kelly) after helping the Autobots and Maximals save the world. There is no confirmation that Noah joins the new G.I. Joe organization before the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts mid-credits scene , but that is not necessary at the moment for the purposes of establishing the Hasbro Cinematic Universe. The mere appearance of the organization, logo, and secret lab is enough to declare the scene the first Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover in the live-action franchise.

Paramount's approach to launching the Hasbro Cinematic Universe with the Transformers and G.I. Joe characters is understandable. They are the two biggest pieces of IP connected to the Hasbro Universe, and it indicates the studio's hope to replicate the comic's success of combining multiple Hasbro franchises together in a single canon. There is a history of Transformers and G.I. Joe crossovers in the comics that goes back nearly 40 years, but IDW Publishing managed to create a new Hasbro Universe in 2016. The storyline united all Hasbro stories and effectively laid the blueprint for how Paramount and Hasbro could try something similar in live-action.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ' G.I. Joe crossover means Paramount and Hasbro have now become the latest studios to attempt the shared universe model popularized by Marvel Studios' success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While there are plenty of other long-running franchises that pre-date the MCU, it is a great comparison for what could now happen with the Hasbro shared universe. Instead of having different franchises like Transformers and G.I. Joe existing independently of the other, they will now exist in the same universe, opening the door for more crossovers and other Hasbro characters to appear.

Paramount Began Developing The Hasbro Universe In 2015

Those hoping for a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts sets up have waited decades to see it, but Paramount did not begin developing plans for a Hasbro Cinematic Universe until 2015. The studio revealed plans for a shared universe that included five different Hasbro brands as part of a new deal struck between Paramount and Hasbro's AllSpark Pictures. The original idea was for a five-film universe designed to include movies based on G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand), and Rom the Space Knight.

To make progress on the Hasbro Cinematic Universe, Paramount and Hasbro assembled a writers room filled with talent to begin coming up with ideas for the different movies. THR revealed the participants included Star Trek: Picard creator Michael Chabon, Luke Cage 's Cheo Hodari Coker, Black Panther 's Joe Robert Cole, Dungeons & Dragons duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, The Amazing Spider-Man 's Jeff Pinkner, Captain Marvel duo Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, acclaimed comic writer Brian K. Vaughan, and Lindsey Beer and Nicole Riegel. This was at the same time Paramount and Michael Bay saved Transformers with a writers room that developed 14 more movie ideas.

The ambitious nature of the Hasbro Cinematic Universe did not immediately deliver the results that Paramount wanted. A new G.I. Joe movie was the only hopeful entry in the universe to make significant progress, leading to Snake Eyes being released in 2021. It also remained unclear if these plans would have evolved to eventually fold the Transformers franchise into the new universe. Considering Bumblebee was used to reset the continuity, it is possible that Paramount planned to use the movie to launch the Hasbro Cinematic Universe, even if it did not set up the connectivity as plainly as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts .

Snake Eyes Was Meant To Launch The Hasbro Universe

The original Hasbro Universe plans that began development in 2015 is responsible for Snake Eyes , which was in some ways imagined to be a launching point for the Hasbro Universe. The 2021 release starred Henry Golding as a new, younger Snake Eyes and told his origin story. This meant reintroducing Cobra and key villains like Baroness and Storm Shadow, while Scarlett also appeared as a member of the G.I. Joes. Snake Eyes included set up for the original G.I. Joe, Joe Cotton, to play a role in the franchise going forward, with Paramount developing multiple other entries in the franchise, which might have led to the expansion of the universe.

The problem for Hasbro and Paramount in delivering on these hopes is that Snake Eyes bombed at the box office. The movie came out in the middle of summer as audiences were still getting used to the idea of seeing movies in theaters again after the pandemic. Paramount scaled back Snake Eyes ' budget compared to past G.I. Joe movies, but that did not save it. The movie only made $40 million at the worldwide box office, less than half of its reported $88 million budget. Instead of relaunching the G.I. Joe franchise and kickstarting the Hasbro Cinematic Universe, Snake Eyes doomed these plans before they began.

Is Rise of the Beasts’ G.I. Joe Connected To Snake Eyes?

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ' version of G.I. Joe is not connected to Snake Eyes as far as the movie lets on. This might be a bit confusing considering it is the first Hasbro movie released since the G.I. Joe relaunch. Paramount did use Transformers: Rise of the Beasts as a sequel to 2018's Bumblebee , as it continues the story seven years later. However, Snake Eyes is an origin story for Henry Golding's character that takes place in the modern day.

This means that even if Paramount wanted this Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover moment to connect to Snake Eyes , it would only do so as a way to set up events that take place decades later. Audiences should not be expecting to see anyone from Snake Eyes make an appearance as part of Paramount's new Hasbro Universe. The property is set up to completely reboot with a new cast and fresh interpretations of classic G.I. Joe characters who can then team up with Noah and the Autobots.

What Other Movies Might Be Part Of Hasbro’s Shared Universe

The Hasbro Cinematic Universe as it is known so far only includes Bumblebee and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in its canon. However, the G.I. Joe reveal means that several other Hasbro properties and movies could join the franchise going forward. The Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises crossing over in this fashion is surely connected to Paramount's recent plans for a new G.I. Joe movie. Unlike the past attempts to launch the series, it should be made very clear that the next G.I. Joe is part of the Hasbro shared universe. This could be done with Michael Kelly's Agent Burke returning or even seeing Noah and Mirage again.

In addition to plans for a Transformers: Rise of the Beasts sequel that is part of this franchise, the Hasbro universe could bring back movie ideas that previously did not get off the ground. Paramount previously made varying levels of progress on M.A.S.K. , Micronauts , Rom the Spaceknight , and Visionaries . The M.A.S.K. movie originally recruited F. Gary Gray to direct it in 2018, so he might finally make the movie if a new script is delivered. It would also make sense for Paramount to circle back around to the other properties and find ways to incorporate the Micronauts, Rom the Spaceknight, and Visionaries into the Hasbro Cinematic Universe.

Paramount does not necessarily have to greenlight new M.A.S.K. , Micronauts , Rom the Spaceknight , and Visionaries movies first to accomplish this. Just as the studio used Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to reboot G.I. Joe ahead of a likely new film, there is room for these other Hasbro characters and concepts to be folded into more popular franchises first. For example, it would not be too surprising if Paramount found a way to bring Mobile Armored Strike Kommand into the Transformers or G.I. Joe franchises before giving the team a solo movie.

When The Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Will Happen

Paramount has not yet officially announced when its Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover will happen. There is a strong chance that Transformers 8 will include a bit more of the G.I. Joe organization, possibly as a way to check in on Noah and tease the overall plans for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe further. Viewers could even conceivably see Noah in the new G.I. Joe movie if he accepts a spot on the new team. Either of these options will not truly fulfill the hopes of a real Transformers and G.I. Joe movie crossover audiences want.

Seeing Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and other Autobots fight directly alongside Duke, Snake Eyes, and other members of the G.I. Joes is something Paramount will likely hold for an official Transformers and G.I. Joe movie event. This would be a huge moment for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe that holds the type of potential that saw The Avengers vault the MCU into a new category of box office success. If some of the other plans for the universe are on hold until audience interest is a bit more proven, the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts tease could be paid off relatively soon to ensure the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover occurs.

The trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is arriving with warp speed levels of swagger, throttling up the action, adventure, and romance that viewers can expect from Paramount Plus’ flashy throwback series.

To be fair, some of that confidence is earned, as season 1 of Strange New Worlds built a compelling show around Anson Mount’s Captain Christopher Pike , putting together a rock-solid crew for the U.S.S. Enterprise’s early days for an immediately compelling, if a bit uneven , first season.

Teases abound in the new trailer, which features the return of Paul Wesley as a young James T. Kirk from last season, and shows a bit more of surprise guests Carol Kane and the first live-action appearance of Star Trek: Lower Decks characters Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler (Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, respectively). Also Spock (Ethan Peck) and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) kiss. Not sure how I feel about that one, but I’m sure those crazy kids will figure things out.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 premieres on Paramount Plus June 15.
