Get the Best RV Insurance

Our users trust us :

Did you know that over 2 million Canadians own a recreational vehicle? More and more people are choosing to spend their holidays taking their families into the countryside and enjoying the freedom and calm of a holiday without the trouble of airports and hotel bookings. But whether you are going to Niagra Falls or heading to the hot springs of Liard Park you will want to make sure that you are ready for any emergency.

In this guide, we will take you through the different types of RV insurance, how much they cost and how much protection you really need.

What offers the best RV insurance in Canada?

It isn’t easy to choose the best RV insurance because everyone’s situation is different. How long you plan to be on the road, where you stay and your vehicle all play a role in determining insurance rates and your best coverage options.

With that in mind, here is a list of Canada's most popular RV insurance options to get you started:

TD RV Insurance

TD Insurance is a part of TD bank, one of Canada's largest financial institutions. TD offers a basic package of RV insurance and extra add-ons for those who want more comprehensive protection. If you insure both your home and your RV with TD you can qualify for the Multi-Line discount. This is a premium discount which applies to the basic and the comprehensive insurance packages.

Wayfarer RV Insurance

Wayfarer is an insurance broker that specializes in motorhomes and recreational vehicles. It is underwritten by Aviva. Wayfarer offers a wide range of specialized coverage, thanks to its narrow focus on recreational vehicles. For example, they offer Fifth Wheel Insurance, which is tailored to protect large, high-value trailer motorhomes that are towed by a truck.

Wayfarer currently has over 100,000 clients. Its offer of specialized hands-on knowledge combined with the security of a big national underwriter is an attractive proposition. Additionally, Wayfarer offers a wealth of advice and discussion related to RVs and motorhomes on its website.

RBC Motorhome Insurance

RBC offers insurance for motorhomes and for trailers. They offer specialized insurance packages for Class A, Class B and Class C type RVs. Other highlights of RBC's insurance include annual deductible reductions for no-claims drivers, discounts on anti-theft devices and emergency funds to help you to get home from your vacation if your RV breaks down.

As part of the wider Royal Bank of Canada corporation, RBC Motorhome Insurance has the security of a stable and well-established underwriter. If you already have vehicle or home insurance from RBC you may be able to add-on protection for your motorhome at a discount. RBC also offers 24/7 customer service so you can get in contact whenever an emergency might arise.

Allstate RV Insurance

Established in 1931, Allstate is one of the older vehicle insurance companies operating in Canada today. Allstate offers a basic insurance protection package along with add-ons such as Comprehensive Cover. There are discounts available for experienced drivers as well as no-claims bonuses.

Allstate does not offer specific packages for different types of RV. The insurance they offer is more general. The discounts might suit you if you only intend to use your RV for short periods, or could be an economical solution if you are renting an RV. If you own a high-end or specialized RV then you might wan to seek another solution.

Aviva RV Insurance

Aviva's RV insurance offers three plans with varying degrees of coverage to suit your needs and budget. Its basic coverage is comprehensive: emergency expenses while on vacation, personal effects in the RV, freezer contents, lock replacement, etc. Each plan comes with optional coverages for an individually tailored insurance package.

Aviva's online (or 24/7 telephone) claims reporting service is well-reviewed and the insurer's network of experts is extensive. This means that your claims can be handled quickly and efficiently, and you can get a quick refund. In addition, Aviva offers you discounts on multiple insurance products.

CAA's RV Insurance

With its Stress Relief Policy®, CAA offers a complete basic RV insurance package (liability, collision, lost or stolen keys, hit-and-run or total loss, etc.) as well as numerous options (accident forgiveness, replacement value, etc.), all while promising you an average savings of $306 compared to the competition. In addition, you will not have to pay any deductible in case of a total loss of the RV or hit and run, but also in case of replacement or recoding of your keys.

Beneva RV Insurance

Beneva's RV insurance covers your vehicle but not only that, but their packages also include liability coverage as well as free coverage if you drive a rented or borrowed vehicle. In addition, roadside assistance is included for most recreational vehicles. Beneva also offers you discounts by bundling several insurance products. For example, save an average of $520 by bundling auto, home and RV insurance. Finally, Beneva offers 24/7 assistance in case of emergency as well as an ergonomic online client space to manage your contract.

What is RV insurance?

You must ensure a recreation vehicle or trailer like any other vehicle. An RV is any kind of movable temporary accommodation, divided into self-propelled motorhomes, park models and towable RVs that are attached to another vehicle.

Motorhomes are divided into three classes A, B and C.

Class A : heavy-duty, coach-sized vehicles sleeping 2-4 people,

Class B : also known as a camper van. These contain living and cooking facilities but usually in very compact forms.

Class C : medium-sized motorhome, usually with an over-cab sleeping area.

Park models are stationary RVs which are usually placed in a holiday location and spend the year round there. There are two classes: the 8-foot wide and the 10 to 16-foot wide.

Towables or trailers are independent RVs, without a motor or a means of self-propulsion. They are usually transported by attaching them to the back of your car or truck.

Good to know

RV insurance can either be purchased as a separate policy or can be added to car insurance or home insurance .

Do I need RV insurance?

Yes, RVs need insurance like any vehicle in Canada. However, different types of RVs need different types of insurance.

Mandatory RV insurance offers the same basic protections as car insurance. You must have Collusion or Upset insurance. This basic package covers any damage caused to your RV by an accident or a collision

Depending on how often you use your RV and where you drive it you may want to consider additional protection. If you are making a day trip out of Vancouver a basic level of protection might be suitable. If you are a thrill-seeker headed to Baffin Island you might want to beef up your coverage!

How much does RV insurance cost?

In general RV insurance will cost much less than car insurance . Some providers offer coverage for as little as a couple of hundred dollars a year at the low end. Large, expensive models of RV can need insurance policies that run into three figures.

Much like car insurance, your RV insurance will be calculated depending on a few variables. These include

  • Years of experience driving an RV
  • Where you live
  • Credit score
  • How often you use the RV
  • What you use the RV for

As an estimated guide we have laid out some ballpark figures for you in the table below, based on the classifications of RV.

What are the different types of RV insurance?

Depending on how you use your RV you might be interested in different types of RV insurance. For example, if you are buying RV insurance in Ontario for a week by Niagra Falls, you can probably get away with a basic package of insurance. If you are buying RV insurance in Alberta because you are intending to live year-round in Fort McMurray then you will need Full-Time RV Insurance.

AAA RV Insurance Review | Money

W hen it comes to hitting the road and exploring the great outdoors in the comfort of a recreational vehicle (RV), having the right insurance coverage is a must. RVs are valuable investments that require protection from unforeseen events.

One RV insurance provider is The American Automobile Association, usually called “Triple-A” (AAA). The company is most well-known for its roadside assistance services and travel discounts, but AAA also offers insurance products to its club members.

In this AAA RV insurance review, we’ll look at the company’s offerings, pricing, financial stability, accessibility and customer satisfaction to help you choose the best RV insurance for your needs.

AAA RV insurance pros and cons

Extensive coverage options, offers emergency roadside assistance, membership includes additional benefits, only available to aaa members, coverage varies by region, pros explained.

Similar to car insurance, AAA RV Insurance offers comprehensive coverage that includes protection for your RV against accidents, collisions, theft and vandalism, as well as liability coverage in case of bodily injury or property damage to others. In addition to these basic coverages, as a AAA member, you get roadside assistance.

Although coverage varies by state, there are two options you can add to your RV insurance policy for an extra fee: personal property protection for items kept in your RV and travel expenses coverage if you need to stay somewhere else while your RV is repaired.

One of the standout features of AAA is its emergency roadside assistance, a feature that not all insurance companies offer. Whether your RV has a flat tire, mechanical breakdown or empty fuel tank, AAA RV roadside assistance can help, giving you peace of mind during your travels. All AAA memberships include roadside assistance for you and the car you are in. Extending coverage to your RV may be included on some plans in certain states but must be added for an extra cost in other areas.

AAA could be a good option for RV owners due to its many travel-related perks. In order to purchase the company’s RV insurance, you must purchase a AAA membership, but it comes with extra benefits that may make it worth it. You can access discounts at hundreds of places, including hotels, restaurants, movie theaters and attractions. In addition, AAA memberships include travel agent services, savings on rental cars, identity theft monitoring, DMV services at local branches and more.

Cons explained

AAA RV insurance is only available to AAA members. While this is an extra yearly cost, you get all of the features of a AAA membership. You can purchase a membership through your local club to access the insurance products and other benefits.

AAA’s RV insurance protection options and prices vary significantly based on your region. For example, in some states, you can extend your roadside coverage to include your RV for an extra cost but it may be included in other states. You can contact your local AAA branch to see what coverage is available in your area.

AAA RV insurance offerings

AAA RV insurance covers a variety of vehicles, from travel trailers to campers. Before you can purchase AAA RV insurance, you’ll need to get a club membership. AAA offers three different membership tiers at varying prices. The levels are called Classic, Plus and Premier.

The Classic level typically doesn’t offer RV roadside assistance. At the Plus and Premier tiers, some AAA clubs include RV coverage at no additional cost, while others charge an extra fee to add it. In addition to roadside coverage, you can choose to purchase an RV insurance policy. We’ll explore the membership tiers below, followed by the RV insurance options.

AAA Plus membership

Purchasing a AAA Plus membership may offer you the following types of benefits, but you’ll need to check with your local AAA club to confirm what is offered in your region.

  • Towing services
  • Locksmith service reimbursements
  • Emergency fuel delivery
  • Battery jumpstart and replacement service
  • TripTik travel planner
  • Identity theft monitoring
  • AAA maps and travel discounts
  • Car repair discounts
  • Lost baggage and trip interruption coverage when traveling
  • Hotel, movie tickets and restaurant discounts
  • DMV, passport photos and notary services at local AAA branches
  • RV and motorcycle service coverage

AAA Premier membership

With the AAA Premier plan, you’ll have the benefits included in a AAA Plus membership and more. AAA Premier generally expands your Plus-level coverage to include more miles for towing and higher reimbursement levels. It may also add extra features like the following:

  • Emergency car rental
  • Home lockout service reimbursement
  • Pet injury coverage
  • Refund for windshield repair
  • Emergency medical transportation
  • Travel accident insurance

AAA RV insurance

Once you’ve enrolled in a Plus or Premier membership, AAA insurance policies are available for you to purchase. Aside from RV insurance, AAA offers auto, home, pet business and life insurance.

AAA typically offers the following RV insurance coverage types:

  • Comprehensive
  • Uninsured motorist
  • Medical payments

Additional RV insurance options

If you’re using your RV as your primary residence, add-ons for full-timers may include the following options.

  • Personal property coverage : Protects your belongings in case of theft or damage
  • Travel expenses : Provides coverage for accommodations if your RV needs repairs

AAA RV insurance pricing

AAA RV insurance costs can vary based on several factors, including the type of coverage you choose, the make and model of your RV, your driving history and your location. You may also qualify for insurance discounts. Getting a personalized quote from your local AAA club is advisable to determine the exact pricing for your RV insurance.

In addition to your insurance premiums, a yearly AAA club membership costs anywhere from around $40 to $186 or more per year, depending on the coverage level you choose and the prices set in your region. Some clubs include RV coverage in the Plus or Premier level, while others charge more to add RV roadside assistance coverage. For example, in Ohio, you’ll pay an extra $37 per year to add RV roadside coverage to your AAA Plus or Premier membership. In California, a AAA Premier membership includes RV roadside coverage at no additional cost. There may also be a one-time membership enrollment fee of $10 to $15 or more when you purchase a new membership.

AAA RV insurance financial stability

Established in 1902, AAA has a long-standing history. Each AAA club functions as an independent and not-for-profit organization. Furthermore, each club is governed by its own board of directors. To be a part of AAA, every club commits to offering specific standard services, but the exact membership dues and services provided differ from one club to another.

Each AAA club partners with different affiliated insurance providers. CSAA Insurance Group offers insurance products to AAA members in 23 states and Washington, D.C. The company, founded over 100 years ago, is rated A+ (Superior) by AM Best, an independent insurance rating agency. The Auto Club Enterprises Insurance Group provides insurance to members in 21 states and is also rated A+ (Superior) by AM Best.

AAA RV insurance accessibility

AAA encompasses 32 independent clubs with more than 1,000 local branches. Visiting the organization’s website and entering your zip code will redirect you to the AAA website specific to your region. You’ll find membership information and prices specific to your local area there. You can browse your club’s site for details about RV insurance availability and find contact details and branch locations.

Availability

AAA has clubs and branches across all 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Canada. However, its services and products will vary between states and provinces. Before considering AAA RV insurance, check with your local AAA club to confirm whether it’s offered in your area.

Contact information and user experience

Enter your zip code on AAA’s main website to find the locations of your nearest branches. Every club has its own website with contact information, including phone numbers and online contact forms. There are also physical AAA branch locations you can visit.

You can reach AAA emergency roadside assistance at the following number: 800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357).

The AAA mobile app allows users to request roadside assistance, manage insurance policies, check nearby gas prices, access the TripTik travel planner and more.

AAA RV insurance customer satisfaction

Customer satisfaction is an important factor to consider when evaluating any insurance provider. We looked at the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Auto Insurance Study to see how various AAA clubs rank for overall customer satisfaction. While some clubs ranked above the average, others fell short.

For example, the Auto Club of Southern California ranks second in California with 844 points out of a 1,000-point scale. In the North Central region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, AAA ranks slightly below the local average of 838 points with 810 out of 1,000 points.

AAA insurance has mixed ratings across customer review platforms, but your experience can vary significantly based on your location. Each AAA club has its own Better Business Bureau (BBB) page, and the ratings and reviews were similar across the clubs we evaluated on the site. For example, AAA Northeast and AAA Nebraska are both BBB-accredited with A+ ratings, and the AAA Ohio Auto Club is BBB-accredited with a B rating.

AAA RV insurance FAQs

Is aaa rv insurance worth it, what does aaa rv insurance cover, how much is aaa rv coverage.

The availability and price of adding RV coverage to your AAA membership varies by state. You may have the option to extend emergency roadside assistance, towing service and other benefits to your RV. Membership also allows you to purchase AAA RV insurance for liability, collision, comprehensive and personal coverage options, depending on your location.

The cost of AAA RV insurance varies depending on the type of policy, your state of residence, the make and model of your RV, your driving record and more. To get an accurate quote, you can contact your local AAA club.

Prudential Life Insurance is available in all states except New York. New York residents can buy the Pruco Life of New Jersey VUL Protector plan. This plan allows buyers to pull money out of their plan to pay for nursing home expenses. Cash value policy premiums are fixed, so you won't have to worry about extra costs later on. Internal costs are low, which minimizes risk. Due to age, many older adults want a safe investment option for their money. Prudential VUL Protector invests to avoid loss. Types of Life Insurance

While there's many different types of life insurance policies , broadly speaking, there are two types of life insurance: temporary and permanent. Let's go over each in detail.

Temporary life insurance

Temporary life insurance is often called term life insurance. This type of policy covers you for a set amount of time before expiring, usually between 10-30 years. If you pass away after your policy expires, your family won't receive any benefits. Additionally, your policy won't accrue cash value like a permanent policy. That said, some term life insurance policies offer a conversion from term to whole life insurance, so you can extend your coverage.

Because its benefits aren't guaranteed, term life policies are generally cheaper than permanent life insurance. That said, the vast majority of term life insurance policies never pay out. on

Permanent life insurance

Permanent life insurance is an umbrella term for a variety of life insurance policies that will insure you indefinitely and guarantee a payout as long as you maintain your policy. Policy types that fall under permanent life insurance includes:

  • Whole life insurance
  • Universal life insurance
  • Variable life insurance
  • Variable universal life insurance
  • Simplified life insurance
  • Guaranteed issue life insurance

These policies vary widely in purpose and intended buyers, but all guarantee death benefits to your loved ones. Some permanent life insurance policies, like whole, universal, and variable have a cash value component , which you can use as a savings tool or to leave your heirs a larger death benefit.

How to Pick the Best Life Insurance Policy for You

Finding the right fit in life insurance starts with finding a trusted insurance agent. Because there are so many state regulations, shopping for homeowners or auto insurance can be easily done online. Life insurance is not required. So it's a voluntary purchase. Many buyers don't know what they need or when they need it. Before making your selection, consider a few things:

Some companies will sell you a policy for your child as soon as they're born. While this may seem morbid, early sign-up means lower rates for a policy your child could enjoy in the future. Regardless, early sign-up equates to more policy for lower premiums and a higher likelihood of acceptance. At 20, you may be healthier and be able to pay into the policy for a longer period compared to when you're 50 with more age-related conditions.

As a general rule, never agree to more than you can afford. For the average life insurance agent, their job is to sell you a large policy with a large commission. Consider not only how much you make now, but how likely your current income is to continue. If you work on a project basis and your project is scheduled to end in 12 months, you may want to reconsider a policy premium outside your monthly savings.

How much are you prepared to buy? Some people only want a small policy to cover funerals and other end-of-life expenses. Others build a life policy into their retirement plan. Whatever direction you're going, involving a financial planner could help you make the right decisions. Depending on the carrier, customers can also compare set limits with index universal life policies, which set no limit. These policies never expire, and the value builds over the entirety of your life.

Living Benefits

Life happens unexpectedly. You could be healthy one day and in the hospital the next. Many life policies offer living benefits. These allow you to draw a limited amount out of your policy to cover medical and other bills you cannot pay while sick.

Much like a 401(k), many life insurance policies have penalties for early withdrawal. No matter what policy you want, this question is critical to an informed decision. It's a question of how early you can withdraw and how much you'll lose from the total to have the money in 10 years instead of 30 or after death.

Some policies require insured parties to pay premiums for at least one year before any significant payout would be available. Suicide exclusions are common. Even with no medical exam policies, the company may still do a check for known conditions. An insurance company has to mitigate its risk.

Flexibility

Once you've been denied a life insurance policy, a mark goes on your record. No matter the reasons, other insurance companies may deny you coverage based on the first denial. So consider your whole situation and choose your policy carefully before you submit any applications. Some policies have greater flexibility if you lose your job or otherwise can't make payments. Others will lapse if you miss even one payment.

Payment Type

Even within whole life or term life insurance policies, customers have the option to choose guaranteed fixed or variable rates. Some have guaranteed payouts, but you'll need to ask your agent for details.

What is your intended use? Why are you shopping for a life insurance policy in the first place, and what are your goals? Many successful financial planners also have a background in life insurance. So while they may not be able to find you a specific life insurance policy, financial planners can help you set out a blueprint for your purchase.

Why You Should Trust Us: How We Reviewed the Best Life Insurance Companies

In life insurance, it's easy to get "sold a bill of goods." Many life insurance agents pass a state test to be thrown into the deep end. Agents sell the company product, but not all know the products. In this vein, we look at the products each company offers. We also look at agent training.

A good life insurance agent may not volunteer all facts upfront. But a company's agents should answer questions about its products accurately and in a way the average consumer can digest. Agents should be able to inform you about the long-term benefits and limitations. This will help customers find the right policy for their long-term plan.

We consider affordability, policy sizes available, and performance for a comprehensive assessment in our insurance rating methodology . If you can, we recommend also working with a financial advisor to make a plan for your future with life insurance.

Our Expert Panel for The Best Life Insurance Companies

To inform our choices for the best life insurance companies, we spoke with the following experts:

  • Paul LaPiana , head of product at MassMutual
  • Barbara Pietrangelo , CFP, CLU, and chair of the nonprofit Life Happens
  • Wykeeta Peel , Corporate Vice President and Market Manager, African American Market Unit at New York Life

The Experts' Advice on Choosing The Best Life Insurance for You

How much life insurance coverage do you believe the average buyer should have.

Paul LaPiana, Head of Product at MassMutual

"There are different approaches to determining how much life insurance you need. One is the 'human life' approach, which estimates the current value of your future earning potential. Another is securing specific coverage to pay off debts such as a mortgage or provide for the education of children. A comprehensive protection plan should provide the right amount of coverage over the course of your working life and into retirement."

Barbara A. Pietrangelo, Chair of Life Happens

"There is no one-size-fits-all life insurance policy because everyone is different. One way to get a rough estimate is to multiply your income by 10 to 15; another is adding $100,00 to that amount, should you have a child and anticipate college education expenses.

Your best bet is to talk to a financial professional or use the Life Insurance Needs Calculator on LifeHappens.org to analyze what's right for you."

Wykeeta Peel, Corporate Vice President & Market Manager African American Market Unit at New York Life

"As you consider what policy best meets your needs, it can help to answer four key questions: First, how much death benefit do you need? Second, how long will you need that coverage? Third, what is your budget (or how much monthly premium can you afford to pay?), and finally, what is your investment risk tolerance?

To determine how much death benefit makes sense, it's helpful to think beyond using life insurance to cover funeral expenses and consider whether anyone is relying on the policy owner's income to maintain a lifestyle, pay rent or a mortgage, or fund a child's education and for how long.

There are various rules of thumb regarding the right amount of Life insurance coverage. Some tips can be found online, but they only provide an estimate and don't necessarily factor in an individual's specific needs. In my opinion, human guidance, powered by technology, is required. Basically, it comes down to how much money your loved ones would need to remain on firm financial ground if your earnings were no longer in the picture and that is different for everyone."

What is the biggest opportunity you see for improvement in the life insurance industry?

"Increased accessibility through digital and other channels as well as through underwriting enhancements. Increased tailoring of products and features. And an increased emphasis on health and wellness programs."

"Having enough qualified insurance professionals to walk potential buyers through the multiple benefits of life insurance will be pivotal to the growth of the industry. Education is a key factor here, as professional agents also need to be able to explain life insurance and its benefits in an easy, digestible way, especially when there are so many misconceptions about life insurance."

"The need for life insurance is greater than ever. In fact, a recent New York Life Wealth Watch survey found that 37% of adults have been thinking about life insurance more often these days – and half of adults report that financial products that provide protection (50%) and reliability (50%) are more important now compared to last year. This may be especially true for middle-market and Cultural Market families.

Our organizational structure of having Cultural Market agents embedded in the communities where we live and work allows us to understand the needs of diverse communities and develop solutions that resonate with them."

What advice would you give to buyers who are debating whether or not to buy life insurance?

"It is difficult to say with any certainty how healthy you will be years from now. That's why securing life insurance, and insuring your insurability, today, when you are the youngest you'll ever be again, and perhaps your healthiest is a wise decision."

"Do you love someone? If the answer is yes, then life insurance is certainly something you should consider. Many buy gifts and experiences to express their love, but haven't considered that life insurance is just another way to say I love you. Nothing says support like ensuring your family's financial security and peace of mind."

"If you have someone depending on your income, you should consider purchasing life insurance. A death benefit from a life insurance policy can replace income from the loss of a breadwinner, ensure a family can stay in their home, fund educational or retirement expenses, address debt and so much more.

A life insurance policy can also help you grow your family's wealth over time. Once the risk of an unexpected loss has been managed, you can begin to think more broadly about your family's financial future. Life insurance can enable your mindset to shift from death to growth."

What's the most important thing buyers should look for when choosing a life insurance agent/company to buy from?

"With life insurance, you are securing a future commitment that may be decades away. Research the company behind the policy to ensure it has high financial strength ratings, longevity, and an excellent track record of paying claims."

"When looking for an insurance agent or company, be sure to do your research. When comparing companies, be sure to remember that the policy features that fit you and your loved ones best is the most important factor. Don't automatically assume you should buy from the higher-rated company.

If the policy from the other company has more of what you're looking for, it might be the better choice. If you're unsure where to start, try the Life Happens Agent Locator to find an insurance professional in your area."

  • "The insurers' track record: At its core, life insurance is protection - a hedge against the unexpected - and you are paying premiums in exchange for the promise that the insurer will be there when you need them, so the financial strength and track record of the company backing your policy is critical.
  • Customer service: Are service professionals available by phone and digital channels? Is there is an online dashboard where you can manage your policy? Beyond ensuring assistance is available after you purchase a policy, it's also critical to ensure you have access to trusted advice and guidance before you buy.
  • Flexibility in conversion: How easy is it to change? Life can be unpredictable and while term insurance can cover your loved ones through a critical period of time, you may decide that access to cash value is an important piece of your strategy.
  • Accelerated online applications : Online applications are convenient but don't replace human guidance. Keep in mind that accelerated online applications may have a maximum coverage amount, meaning that you may not be able to get all the coverage you may need exclusively through an online process.
  • A range of payment options: It's important to understand how often you're required to make premium payments and whether and how often you can change the frequency of payments."

Best Life Insurance FAQs

According to JD Power's 2023 life insurance study, State Farm is the highest-rated life insurance company when it comes to overall customer satisfaction. However, you still may want to shop around for quotes from various insurers if you're looking to purchase a new policy.

There isn't one best life insurance company, because the best option for you will depend on the type of policy you're looking for. It's best to work with a qualified insurance agent to help you find the best coverage. If you're deciding between multiple similar options, it's also worth consulting J.D. Power's life insurance customer satisfaction study . The latest study ranks State Farm as the top pick for individual life insurance, outpacing Nationwide by three points.

The best type of life insurance policy for you will differ from someone else's, as your policy should be tailored to your needs. The best policy for you will be affordable and will offer the benefits best suited to your situation. For example, some policies are only meant to cover end-of-life expenses such as burial and funeral arrangements, whereas others include living benefits like a cash value insurance plan , which you can borrow against during your lifetime.

Some life insurance policies are advertised as "no medical exam." This doesn't mean the insurer won't ask you about known conditions or look at medical records. Policies with no medical exam also tend to offer lower benefits with higher premiums. Most companies have a network of medical examiners, some of whom can come to your home. You can find our guide on the best no exam life insurance here.

Each situation is different and requires a knowledgeable life insurance agent to assess your best options. Bring all your questions and the coverage you're looking for to an insurance agent near you to explore your options.

Canada’s second-largest lender is using generative AI to help customer service agents answer client questions more quickly and help engineers speed up their code development. It has also been using machine learning to pre-approve mortgages and home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) and approve term-life insurance within seconds for straightforward applications.

“We’re looking at all the ways we can really help our colleagues,” Luke Gee, head of AI and analytics at TD, said. “We’re excited about these human augmentation opportunities where we can make the roles more interesting and quicken up our response, which gives us better customer outcomes as well.”

The projects are the brainchild of Layer 6, the AI startup acquired by TD in 2018 that is now its in-house AI research lab. The division has grown since the acquisition to more than 200 employees from a small team of 15. TD said its patent portfolio now has 2,500 filings, an increase of 110 per cent since 2020, and one-fifth of them are related to AI.

Financial institutions have significantly stepped up their AI innovation and research in recent years. The 50 global banks followed by Evident Insights Ltd., which tracks and benchmarks AI adoption in financial services, have published more than 300 AI research papers in 2023, a sixfold increase from 2018. AI patents filed by those banks also increased by 21 per cent from the 12-month period ending June 2022.

Royal Bank of Canada , TD and Bank of Montreal all ranked in the top 10 banks for AI innovation, according to an Evident report in April, and all three were among the top 10 patent-filing banks. RBC ranked second for AI research papers and TD was fourth.

TD’s generative AI virtual assistant for customer service agents, which is being piloted this year, was developed with input from its phone agents and was trained on TD’s procedures and processes.

The virtual assistant, Gee said, responds in a conversational way when an agent types in a question and shares the exact policy and paragraph the information comes from. The policy itself is directly quoted rather than summarized, so agents can read it themselves and be comfortable with the accuracy of the response.

“Our agents … want to be able to give a good answer to our customers at a quick rate, and they feel confident about the answer they’ve given. We’re in a heavily regulated industry and we have a lot of policies and procedures, and it’s hard to understand all of those,” he said. “To be able to provide information that is easily absorbable and easily relatable is where generative AI has helped us.”

To ensure the virtual assistant doesn’t give incorrect information, it’s instructed to say “I don’t know” if it can’t find the required information. Agents are also able to rate the answers it does surface with a thumbs up or thumbs down to use reinforcement learning to further train the model. Any questions that can’t be answered by the assistant are escalated to TD’s secondary support teams of experienced agents.

TD’s other generative AI project uses Microsoft Corp.’ s GitHub co-pilot programming assistant. Copilot analyzes engineers’ code, offers suggestions about how to complete it and is able to perform tasks such as code testing when asked by users.

Gee said the assistant, which was piloted with a group of the bank’s engineers from September to December 2023, allowed engineers to focus more of their time on high-skilled tasks and helped them catch bugs faster. Half the surveyed engineers said the tool saved them up to 20 hours of work over a two-week period.

“If our engineers are able to build more quickly, then the feature is able to be released more quickly to the customer,” he said.

TD also announced AI models that give customers a virtually instant response on their mortgage or HELOC pre-approval applications and term life insurance applications.

The mortgage pre-approval model, introduced in August 2023, has been trained on previous application data and TD’s underwriting practices and is able to issue decisions on simple applications such as those from first-time homebuyers.

The model has granted thousands of pre-approvals, though TD declined to share an exact number, and is able to issue decisions within seconds. Gee said it has also freed up the bank’s underwriters to handle complex applications that require more skill and to make those decisions more quickly.

“Buying a home is really stressful and so we want to make sure we can give people answers as quickly as possible. It happened that AI is a good solution to that scenario,” he said. “A lot of customers have very simple requirements … and so we wanted to make sure we can give them an answer and they can move on to the next part of the process.”

There has been a “significant” increase in customers applying for term life insurance over the past five years, TD said in a release, which has slowed down application response times. The machine learning model, which was rolled out in March 2023, can issue decisions in seconds.

Gee said Layer 6 is looking at other applications for AI across retail banking, direct investing and insurance.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

td travel trailer insurance

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

td travel trailer insurance

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

td travel trailer insurance

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

td travel trailer insurance

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

td travel trailer insurance

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

td travel trailer insurance

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

td travel trailer insurance

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

Please note that your policy may be nullified (voided) and your claim payment denied in the event that you misrepresent or omit to disclose any facts and relevant matters known to you which are likely to influence an insurer in the setting of the premium, the appraisal of the risk, or the decision to cover the risk. The same consequences may arise if you do not promptly notify the insurer of any changes that increase the risk specified in the policy and result from events within your control that are likely to influence the insurer in setting the premium, or deciding to continue to insure the risk. Examples: Failure to disclose that the vehicle has been altered or modified.
