Oh, I love this idea. I already take individual packets of matcha tea and collagen, but often have a hard time making clean hot water (using a used coffee maker is not the vibe).

There are plenty of us who love to travel all around Europe and the rest of the World. One thing man people like is to be able to have is a cup of tea or a coffee.  Many of the places we stay do provide tea and coffee facilities. Sadly many do not. That is why it is worth purchasing a travel kettle. 

The secret of course is buying one that is small in size and lightweight. Thanks to the luggage restrictions imposed by many airlines, every ounce can count. Depending on your circumstances it is a good idea to buy a travel kettle that will hold enough for at least two cups. The final thing to remember is that you want a kettle that will boil quickly.

Another key requirement would be that it would have to be dual voltage. That is, it will work off our normal 240 volt supply, or the 110 volt supply, found in some International destinations.

The cups that come with this are very small. They will do in a push for sure, just don't expect that these hold very much. It is a travel kettle after all, and they can't make the cups bigger than the kettle.

It holds 500 ml of water and also comes with two handy cups. Having those does make life easier. It measures 16.5 x 10.5 x 18 cm and weighs 862 grams, so will fit into a case nicely.

We like the water gauge making it easy to see when it needs to be filled, and we also like that the kettle will cut off should it start to boil dry.

This kettle is well designed and looks really good I think. It is large enough to boil water for two mug sized cups of coffee. The power cable is approximately 25 inches long and can be wound around the base.

This travel kettle is one of the cheapest out there. That does not mean it is poor quality. In fact this travel kettle gets really consistent reviews.

This one is also bigger than many and holds up to one litre of water.

It comes with two small cups and they fit nicely inside the kettle. It all pops into a drawstring bag. It boils reasonably quickly. It holds enough water to make 2-3 cups of tea or coffee. Has a nice flat oval shape which I think makes it easier to pack.

Who actually buys a travel kettle?

Going on Holiday

This remains the number one reason why people buy a travel kettle. As we mentioned earlier if you travel around there will be many times a kettle will come in handy. Many hospitality establishments do offer tea and coffee facilities, but not all of them. If you are uncertain, then always a good thing to have your own kettle with you.

Some Elderly People

Aside from the obvious holiday reasons, some UK buyers choose a travel kettle for other reasons. This includes people who struggle to life a heavier kettle. Many elderly people struggle to deal with the weight of a larger normal sized kettle. Having a smaller kettle will make their life that little bit easier.

People Living Alone

If you live alone, then there is really no need to own a large kettle. A smaller kettle will do the job nicely, and it's cheaper to run as well, so the added benefit of saving a little money on energy costs.

Kettle Capacity

Travel kettles are designed to be lightweight and small. They range in size from 500ml to a litre in size. The smaller size will allow you to boil enough water for a couple of cups.

Kettle Dual Voltage

When travel kettles are designed the vast majority of them are made as dual voltage. That simply means they will operate on the UK 230/240V electricity system and also on the 110V European system.

There are a few travel kettles that are UK only so just be aware of that when buying. You only need to check that they are dual voltage if you plan on travelling outside the UK.

If in Europe you will usually need an adapter to use.

At home you have around 240V of electricity. In vehicle you have 12V. The reason we include this is to help to manage expectations about how quickly these 12V kettles boil.

They are slow and just way too slow for any impatient people. On average if you want boiling hot water, depending on the kettle, it can take 15-45 minutes.

If you are on a day out, or at the beach, then there is no hurry. However if you are rushed then never buy one of these as they will drive you insane.
