“Avoid the afternoon tea” Review of Crofters

Went for afternoon tea as saw their facebook post and pictures. The sandwiches were tasty but that is where it ended. There was spring rolls and mini quiche that were dry and resembled leftover Christmas buffet. A sliced up sausage roll and pork pies. The scones from the cake stand were nice all the other cakes on it were from the Iceland mixed frozen selection that you can buy for £6.75, they were pure mush you couldn’t even pick them, we had no cutlery either so left them as we didnt want to scrape them on to our plates. The woman who brought the food to our table looked angry and looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there. For the price we paid for two finger sandwiches each plus cheap party food and frozen mushy cakes we could have had a proper meal each at the crown. The meals that other diners in there had looked nice but the afternoon tea was poor. It was completely unorganised and quite possibly they were understaffed. Such a shame as we were looking forward to it.

My wife took her friend for a 75th birthday lunch hoping for her favourite liver and onions the waitress took the order but came back 10 minutes later to tell them they had sold out .They then chose the fish meal which was full of bones .The finished off with tea for two in a small pot and tiny cups that you couldn't get your finger in .They told the waitress when paying the bill and she said I'll tell the kitchen about it.

We had dinner here this evening and had a great experience. Carrie was lovely and welcoming and genuinely appeared to enjoy taking care of her customers. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. We had starters and mains and there was no way we had room left for afters. All in all a smashing evening.

Had a lovely stay here room was very clean and comfortable and the area was lovely the only problems was the square toilet and the seat that wasn’t lined up,the lack of sugar oh and that step is lethal

Spent a few nights staying here and went in every night. Great little pub really liked the staff and the food was amazing (massive portions!) but home made with care and attention to detail. The pubs got a good atmosphere and we really enjoyed whiling away an evening here. Deffo one to try :)
