2024 road bike releases: What new models do we expect to launch this year?

Which new bikes are we going to see for the 2024 season?

New bikes 2024 hero

2024 has already seen a trickle of spy shots of new bikes under the pros. In some cases, we know what they are (it’s written on the frame) and in others we can have a good guess.

It’s not just spy shots that can suggest what new road bikes brands are working on; the multi-year product life cycles for bikes combined with what hasn’t had an update for a while are also good pointers.

So below are a few new bikes that have already seen the light of day, plus another couple that we can speculate are due an upgrade.

New Trek Emonda

A trek bike being ridden by Giulio Ciccone with the seat tube circled

The most interesting spy shot to come out so far this year has to be what we assume is a new Trek Emonda .

As Josh discusses in his piece, the new bike looks to take the Madone Gen 7’s IsoFlow seat tube design and adapt it to a new platform, suggesting that this may be a design feature that will trickle across Trek’s range – or at least the expensive end of it.

If this is a new Emonda, presumably the aerodynamic advantage of a large hole under the saddle trumps the extra weight from a more complex feature in what is currently Trek’s lightweight bike.

Despite the IsoFlow seat tube, the Gen 7 Madone lost around 150g from the Gen 6 bike’s frame weight. A lot of that was due to shedding the IsoSpeed decoupler, but this suggests that Trek can fabricate the IsoFlow design without a huge amount of extra frame weight.

There’s been a general trend for lightweight bikes to get ever more aero. The current Emonda has aero tube profiles and we’ve seen the latest Bianchi Specialissima and Factor O2 VAM incorporate claimed aero benefits. Talking of which…

New Factor Ostro VAM

A close up detail shot of the new Factor Ostro

Another new bike which looks to have upped its aero quotient is the latest Factor Ostro VAM. While we’re not sure what the Trek in the spy shots might be, we know this is a new Ostro VAM – it’s written in big letters on the chainstays/top tube.

The front end of the new Ostro VAM is significantly more chunky than the current model, no doubt taking full advantage of the UCI’s tube profile rule relaxation. Meanwhile, the rear is noticeably lighter and includes Factor’s barely-there top tube to seat tube junction. In the O2 VAM, this was claimed to increase compliance and comfort, while allowing the front of the bike to be stiff enough to satisfy the pros. It looks as if the new Ostro VAM is following suit.

Take a look at our gallery of Simon Clarke's 2024 Factor Ostro VAM .

New Giant TCR

Giant TCR Advanced SL 0 2021

In the last year or so, Giant has updated its Propel aero bike and Defy endurance bike (as well as the equivalent Liv EnviLiv and Avail women’s models). That leaves the TCR and women’s Langma as the last Giant platform yet to receive an update.

We don’t have any details of the new TCR/Langma, but we’d hazard a guess that this bike too will up its aero quotient, while seeking to retain its low weight.

The main claimed benefit of a more aero lightweight bike is faster climbing on all but the steepest ascents. There’s some low-hanging fruit for Giant, as the current TCR , even the £11,000/$12,000 TCR Advanced Pro 0, still has external cabling, so front end integration must be at the top of the upgrade list.

New Canyon Aeroad

Mathieu van der Poel Canyon Aeroad

Shots of some subtle updates to the Canyon Aeroad appeared as long ago as March 2023, with Mathieu van der Poel winning Milan-San Remo on a bike with its seatpost clamp moved to the top of the top tube from the rear of the seat tube. There were some other small changes in van der Poel’s bike.

So is a new Aeroad on its way, or was this just a fix to avoid a slipping seatpost turning into a dropper post on the Poggio for Canyon’s star rider? We’ll see.

New Specialized Aethos?

Specialized Aethos

Given it doesn't sing from the same aero hymn sheet as the others in this list, and doesn't meet the UCI minimum weight requirements, this isn't a bike we're likely to see troubling the peloton.

Given it was launched in 2020 we wouldn't be at all surprised to see a new model of the bike Specialized pitches towards those who love riding bikes, but don't race. If it does appear, we struggle to see the frame being lighter, but a saving could come at the wheels, with the 1248g Alpinists bettered by almost 100g by Black Inc's latest 28/33 wheelset.

What with the trend towards total cable integration we also wouldn't be shocked to see a new one-piece Roval Alpinist bar complete with internal routing. Specialized does have a history of mixing things up though, so it could also revert back to totally external cables, but that we would be surprised by.

New Pinarello Dogma?

Pinarello Dogma F Ineos

The Dogma has been updated every two years since 2017. The last update was in 2021, so it is by our calculations overdue. Last year we saw a total overhaul of the Pinarello range beneath the Dogma, with the new Pinarello F , and the Dogma X , so it's high time for a top-of-the-tree model to break cover.

We suspect that when it appears, the new Dogma will follow the trend of beefing up the aero credentials at the front, and shedding pounds at the rear. There's scope for deeper tubes and fork legs, and the stays have wiggle room to get more skinny. As it's the brands only race bike, an all-rounder in the same mould as the Tarmac, it's going to have to try and hit both the aero figures and the weight weenies too.

The real question though, is whether it will be more or less wiggly than the last model?

New Scott Addict?

For the last handful of seasons we've seen DSM riding the extremely aero Scott Foil. It's allround/lightweight sibling, the Addict, hasn't had an update since 2020, so if it's going to get a refresh it's not going to come out of the blue.

Given the aero credentials of the Foil we suspect the Addict will likely take a role more akin to the new Canyon Ultimate ; a lightweight race bike but with improved aero credentials to tackle both the mountains and the valley roads in between.

As ever, expect integration aplenty, and a reduction in the total system weight as the headline figure.

New Cannondale SystemSix?

Uran SystemSix

Yet more speculatively, will Cannondale choose to update the SystemSix? The brand’s aero road bike has seen service since way back in 2018, which makes it superannuated by aero road bike standards.

More to the point, despite the SystemSix's chunky go-faster looks, Cannondale claims that the fourth generation SuperSix , launched in 2023, more than halves the aero gap between the previous model and the SystemSix than the SystemSix, as well as being substantially lighter.

So any new SystemSix will need a significant overhaul to up its aero quotient and lose some fat. Or will the SystemSix go the way of the Specialized Venge , bettered aerodynamically and pushed out of the nest by its more all-rounder sibling?

Jun 2023 · Danny Milner

The last time we rode the Trek Rail we awarded it our 2021 E-Bike of the Year crown in the shop bought category. Since then we haven’t had another chance to ride one, mainly because they’ve been flying off the shop floor. Meanwhile, Trek hasn’t rested on its laurels – the front triangle has been lengthened and the extra space used to stuff in Bosch’s biggest 750Wh battery on all but the smallest frame size. So how does it perform and is it one of the best electric mountain bikes on offer? Need to know: Mino link on the seatstay/rocker interface gives high and low geometry settings – useful if you want to run a 27.5in rear wheel Knock Block steering limiter uses interlocking stem and headset spacers, while steerer tube gets oversize 1.8in taper Top tube System controller and wireless remote are available to buy aftermarket, but they should come as standard M, L, and XL frames get 750Wh battery, while S gets a 625Wh This updated Rail is called the Gen 4, but you can still buy the old Gen 3 model. It gets the smaller 625Wh battery, non-Smart System-compatible electronics and a shorter reach. Although buying the Gen 4 seems like a no-brainer, the new large frame is a really big bike, with a 490mm reach and a yawning 35mm gap to the medium. So some riders may achieve a better fit on the old Gen 3. It’s disappointing that Trek hasn’t fitted the latest Bosch System Controller (as found on the Mondraker) to the top tube. Instead you get a measly blanking plate. To enjoy the improved integration and reduced clutter you’ll have to fork out an extra £1,600 for the next model up, which seems pretty stingy. Suspension Trek claims the Rail delivers 150mm travel, but we only measured 140mm (3mm less than the last Rail we tested). However, we didn’t notice this shortcoming on the trail, mostly because the long wheelbase of the Rail gives it excellent stability at high speeds on rough ground. Where we found it wanting was in terms of grip and sensitivity. It struggled to trace smaller bumps, so not only did it lack some comfort on long rides, but it needed more effort to hold a line on off-cambers, through slow turns, and in the wet. Having said that, there’s plenty of support, so as long as we had the energy, we could ride the Rail like a runaway train. Our bike came with a RockShox Zeb in place of the advertised Domain RC. With 38mm stanchions it perfectly matches the hench proportions of the Rail frame, but it wasn’t the smoothest or most supple fork on test. In that respect there was a symbiosis between the Trek’s front and rear suspension, even if it wasn’t quite the fairytale relationship we’d hoped for. Components Trek proffers two brake specs on the Rail 9.7 – Shimano Deore or SRAM Code R, both in four-piston guise. Given the choice, we’d take the Shimano …Continue reading »

Star trek: strange new worlds season 3 is now filming, when star trek: strange new worlds season 3 could premiere on paramount plus, what star trek: strange new worlds season 3 could be about, star trek: strange new worlds is renewed for season 4, latest news about star trek: strange new worlds season 3.

  • Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 filming began in December 2023 and is expected to last until May 2024.
  • Strange New Worlds season 3 likely won't premiere until 2025 but the show has been renewed for season 4.
  • Season 3 will explore the fate of Captain Batel and the captured Enterprise crew, as well as introduce Nurse Chapel's fiancé Roger Korby, and other exciting storylines.

Anticipation is high for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 following season 2's nail-biting cliffhanger. Strange New Worlds season 2's finale, "Hegemony," saw Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise defy Starfleet orders to rescue Captain Marie Batel (Melanie Scrofano) and the colonists of the planet Parnassus Beta. By the end of Strange New Worlds ' thrilling season 2 finale, Lt. La'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), Lt. Sam Kirk (Dan Jeannotte, Dr. Joseph M'Benga (Babs Olusanmokun), and Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) are captured by the Gorn and Batel has become a host to the terrifying alien species' parasitic eggs.

When the cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns in season 3, it will be to a very different Star Trek on Paramount+ landscape. Star Trek: Discover y will have ended with season 5, essentially passing the torch to Strange New Worlds as the flagship Star Trek on Paramount+ live-action series. Star Trek: Lower Decks also will have ended with season 5. The next Star Trek series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy , will begin production in fall 2024. The first made-for-streaming Star Trek on Paramount+ movie, Star Trek: Section 31 starring Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, is completed and awaits a Paramount+ premiere date. But it's safe to say Strange New Worlds will be the franchise's new crown jewel series, especially after the positive reception to season 2.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ending & Cliffhanger Explained

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2's finale nailbiter brings back the fearsome Gorn and ends with Captain Pike facing an impossible choice.

Production started in December 2023 and is expected to last until May 2024

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 was ready to begin filming in May 2023, but production was halted and delayed for 7 months thanks to the dual Writer's Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes. When the picketing was over, Strange New Worlds season 3 production finally began filming in December and is expected to last until May 2024 . Producing director Chris Fisher is directing Strange New Worlds season 3's premiere, which will resolve Strange New Worlds season 2's Gorn cliffhanger. Fisher directed Strange New Worlds season 1's finale , "A Quality of Mercy," and Strange New Worlds season 2's premiere, "The Broken Circle."

Other directors lined up for Strange New Worlds season 3 are Jordan Canning, who helmed Strange New Worlds season 3, episode 2, and Dan Liu, who takes over for Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 3. Canning directed the Vulcan comedy romp Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 5, "Charades," while Liu helmed the tense Strange New Worlds season 1, episode 4, "Memento Mori," and Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 6, "Lost in Translation." In addition, Jonathan Frakes will direct a "Hollywood noir" episode of Strange New Worlds season 3 after he was lauded for directing Strange New Worlds ' comedy crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks .

The other Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 directors are Valerie Weiss, Sharon Lewis, Andrew Coutts, and Maja Vrvilo.

The wait for Strange New Worlds season 3 will likely last until 2025.

Realistically, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 probably won't premiere on Paramount+ until some time in 2025 . When filming finally wraps in May 2024, post-production and visual effects for Strange New Worlds season 3's 10 episodes will take time to complete. Further, Paramount+ will need Strange New Worlds season 3 as the centerpiece of Star Trek in its 2025 schedule. However, this doesn't stop eager audience members from hoping Strange New Worlds season 3 could split its release and drop the first episodes by the end of 2024, mainly so that they can see the resolution of Strange New Worlds season 2's cliffhanger .

Expect more "big swings" from Strange New Worlds season 3

As well as resolving the fate of Captain Batel and the captured Starship Enterprise crew, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has already set up multiple storylines for season 3 . One of the biggest storylines will be the arrival of Nurse Christine Chapel's (Jess Bush) fiance Roger Korby which will create new a love triangle involving Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck). Other big storylines set up in Strange New Worlds season 2 include Dr. M'Benga and his dark secrets from the Klingon War, the impending fatherhood of Lieutenant James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley), and Kirk's promotion to Commander aboard the USS Farragut. Scotty (Martin Quinn) also joined the cast of Strange New Worlds and could recur in season 3.

The USS Enterprise will have a new Science Lab in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3.

Viewers can also expect some big genre swings to follow in the footsteps of Star Trek 's first-ever musical episode and the animated crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks . Already announced is Strange New Worlds season 3's "Hollywood Noir" episode directed by Jonathan Frakes. Most excitingly for fans of Star Trek: The Original Series will be a chance to see the young Montgomery Scott learn and grow into the USS Enterprise's legendary Chief Engineer. There are still at least six years before Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) takes command of the Starship Enterprise giving Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 plenty of ground to cover when it returns.

Expect Strange New Worlds to help celebrate Star Trek's 60th anniversary

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds received an early season 4 renewal from Paramount+. Although Strange New Worlds season 4 won't film back-to-back like Strange New Worlds seasons 1 and 2 did, it's possible that production for the show's fourth season could begin in late 2024 or in 2025 after a hiatus. This projects Strange New Worlds season 2 to premiere on Paramount+ in 2026, which would help mark Star Trek 's 60th anniversary. Given that very little has been revealed about season 3, it's too early to tell what Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 will be about, but it's thrilling to know that more voyages of Captain Pike's Starship Enterprise are assured.

All episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are streaming now on Paramount+

Dr. gary hedrick, star trek: the original series - part 03.

The original series made Captain James Kirk a legend and gave birth to a variety of sequels, including The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, as well as several full-length motion pictures. Yet the Bible refers to space travel and extraterrestrial beings (angels) visiting earth thousands of years ago!

About Messianic Perspectives

About dr. gary hedrick.

Gary Hedrick has been president of CJF Ministries (CJFM) in San Antonio, Texas, since August of 1988. Prior to that time, he was on the ministry’s board of directors and served as a part-time CJFM field representative. In the early to mid-1970s, Gary had been a minister of youth and music in two Atlanta-area Baptist churches. He later moved to Illinois, where he became associate pastor of the 1,500-member Bayview Baptist Church in Washington, Illinois (1976-77) and met his bride-to-be, Marcia Lee Goldsmith (they were married in 1977). After a term of service as a church planter with the home missions board of the Evangelical Mennonite Conference (1978-80), Gary became the founding pastor of Liberty Bible Church (IFCA) in Eureka, Illinois (1980-88), where Rev. Tom Zobrist is the pastor today.

Gary is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina (BA in Bible; minor concentrations in speech and Koine Greek) and was awarded an honorary doctor of divinity degree (DD) in May of 2003 from Antioch Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Marietta, Georgia—the school that bestowed this same degree on a young Jewish Christian evangelist named Charles Halff 35 years earlier (almost to the day). Gary is a member of the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) at Boston University, the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS), and IFCA International. He has also served as North American coordinator for the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE), a worldwide network of ministries specializing in reaching Jewish people with the Good News of Jesus the Messiah. His articles appear regularly in the bimonthly publication, Messianic Perspectives, and he is a speaker on the Messianic Perspectives radio network ( www.cjfm.org ).

Gary and Marcia make their home in San Antonio. Their older daughter, Elizabeth, is married to Brian Nowotny (MDiv, Liberty University) and they have four children, Emily, Owen, Samuel, and Vivian. The Hedricks' son, Michael, is married to a psychologist, Rachel, and he is pursuing a Ph.D. in theology from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. They have a son, Benjamin, and daughter, Eliana. Gary and Marcia’s younger daughter, Sarah, is a graduate of Baylor University and is a civilian employee of a military contractor at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Pedego Moto puts the ‘fun’ in functional transportation

Avatar for Seth Weintraub

Pedego announced a slew of big new bikes this month , and we got to try out our favorite, the Pedego Moto. This brawny, two-person, class 2/3 beast leaves its competitors in the dust in so many ways. As Micah would say , “Let’s check it out…”

We’ve talked about Pedego a ton here at Electrek, but it bears repeating. No other bike company is doing more to get Americans onto e-bikes. With their excellent brick-and-mortar stores, many, if not most, Americans’ first e-bike experience is renting or trying an e-bike at a Pedego store. And because Pedego stores and e-bikes are top-notch, those experiences are almost entirely good first impressions.

I have a store in my local town , and it is the go-to place to pick up bike accessories, get a quick tuneup, or fix something (on any bike!) . It is also a great place to meet like-minded bike riders. They often sponsor local bike rides and encourage train tourists to visit our town and see it on an e-bike, which is better for everyone than driving a car.

Pedego Moto

The Pedego Moto, at first glance, will remind you of a Juiced Scorpion or the many other copycats that came along in the years since it was introduced. I’m here to say this thing is different in a number of important ways.

trek fietsen 2024

The most obvious is that it is much bigger, and its seat is long enough to carry a second passenger without modifications. The 2nd rider foot pegs come with the bike in its default configuration. That stretched seat also lets taller riders slide back for that sweet leg extension when actually pedaling, which on the Moto, I found quite easy. That tapered seat, while comfy for long rides, also tapers at the front to allow easy pedaling.

Also, components are almost universally better, including turn signals, larger 210mm hydraulic brakes, and huge 20-inch wheels that will go off-road much better than others in this class. SRAM gears are going to last a lot longer than the Shimano Altus setup that many of these bikes have. And just look at those burley tires.

The battery is 922Wh at 48V which will power the bike for up to 75 miles according to Pedego but more typically about 40 at near full power with little pedalling. I don’t like that it is a proprietary connector but it fast charges the battery at 5A. I was genuinely shocked how far I could ride with just small battery drops and it will last weeks in between charges if you want it to.

Pedego has revolutionized unboxing!

Like the taller boxes we saw at Upway , Pedego is now using a taller box that allows it only to require screwing in pedals and adjusting/tightening the handlebars. Including removing the tape and bubble wrap, you can be riding the Pedego Moto within 5 minutes of opening the box.

While most Pedegos will be purchased (and tuned up) at stores, this makes the process easier for Pedego technicians and direct-to-consumer customers as well.

There’s no heavy front wheel to put on, cables to plug in, or other stuff to install. Most e-bikes take me at least a half hour to assemble and often more than an hour. Pedogo Moto? I was riding within minutes of the box being delivered. The battery came more than half charged and that was good for a day of play.

Moto Experience

Pedego bikes, though they come in all shapes and sizes generally follow a standard Class 2 system that allows the bike to go up to 20 miles/hour on throttle or pedal assist. Some of their bikes, including the Moto, can be enabled to go class 3, which is up to 28 miles per hour. However, this is only pedal assist, the throttle will stop applying power at 20mph.

This allows pedego bikes to be legal in the largest number of areas while also allowing a speedy 28mph option. In reality, the large size of the bike will put pedal-assist riding at about 25 mph, in my experience. Still quite fast for such a big bike with huge tires.

Other bike companies, including Pedego’s competitors, have various flavors of “off-road mode,” which allow the motors to spin at any speed but also make them illegal in many jurisdictions.

I found the Moto to be a great ride both on the road and on gravel. Those huge tires and soft suspension eat up those potholes like no one’s business. And, even with a passenger in the back, there’s no stopping the powerful 85nm torque motor in the back.

The Moto is best for cruising and riding around town. There it excels and turns some heads, especially in this blue variety.

Moto Safety

While this bike is large, it turns quite well with admirable wheel balance and a solid front fork.

The front light not only lets oncoming cars see the Moto well at night but it also illuminates the road well enough to ride without concern. Those big hydraulic brakes on 210mm discs are also great at stopping this big bike in its tracks.

The step-over nature of the bike makes it easy to get on and off, especially with packages or another rider on the back.

Maybe the most underrated safety item is the turn signals, which I think Pedego has done well, especially in the user interface department. But the backlight is hidden a little too far under the rear seat and is typically small for an e-bike. Still, drivers and riders will almost always see the bright light when at a medium-length distance away.

Pedego Moto Price

This is a Burley bike, and Pedego has to keep its brick-and-mortar stores going, so the price may surprise those used to fly-by-night dropship prices. It is $3995. Yes, it is a lot, but you get a lot, including white glove service and actual local people there to help out when things go wrong.

Electrek’s take

I like all 3 of Pedego’s new e-bikes and if you’ve got the cash, these e-bikes are built to last and a ton of fun. The Moto isn’t light but it rides like a much more svelt e-bike and is even great for carrying 2 people!

The Pedego Moto in Black, thanks to Riley at the awesome local Croton Pedego store
