Mexico’s dynamic combination of lively cities, history and natural splendor has accurately won the catchphrase, ‘Beyond Your Expectations.’

Elaborate reefs, lush plains and thick jungles appoint Mexico all inclusive vacations as excellent opportunities for extreme sports and leisurely recreations. Sunken ships and bustling marine life invite scuba divers to explore the ocean world. The many safaris, hiking trails and beachfront water sports provide languid travelers and ardent thrill- seekers a personalized playground.

Getting There

Entry requirements.

All travelers between the U.S. and Mexico are required to carry passports beginning January 1, 2007 as mandated by the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. We encourage you to begin the passport application process early to avoid unexpected delays. Travelers should allow a minimum of six weeks between their application submission and receipt of passport. Passports can be expedited for an additional fee.  Visas are not required for US passport holders.

Foreign residents of the United States and all other foreign visitors not holding a US Passport must contact the appropriate government authorities to determine the entry and visa requirements.  Please consult travel.state.gov for the latest travel requirements.

Vaccinations

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Typhoid fever. For extended stays in particular regions of Mexico, vaccinations for Malaria and Rabies may also be necessary.  Please consult www.cdc.gov for the latest health information.

Departure Tax

A departure tax is required before returning to the United States. Though often included in the price of your airline ticket, check with your travel representative for confirmation.

What to Wear

Light shirts and shorts are best suited to the generally tropical climate in Mexico. Other regions may get cooler and require jackets and long pants. Check the climate of your particular region before packing. Resort restaurants typically require a collared shirt and long pants for men and resort evening wear for ladies at dinner.

Dollars are readily exchangeable for pesos at the many banks within Mexico’s developed regions. Traveler’s checks and major credit cards are also accepted by most hotels, shops and restaurants.

U.S. citizens arriving by air or sea are limited to an import value of $300 per person. Those arriving by land are limited to $50 per person. Travel-related items may be brought in duty-free while any amount exceeding the duty-free limit is subject to a 32.8% tax.

To avoid an import tax on personal computers or other expensive electronic equipment, write a statement about its intended use and removal from Mexico upon your return. A Mexican consulate in the United States must sign it before you present it to customs in Mexico.

Guns and ammunition cannot be brought into Mexico without a permit from a Mexican Consulate in the United States.

Electricity

Hotels in Mexico follow the U.S. standard of 110 volts of AC currency.

Purified water runs through most of the hotels and Cancun is home to the largest water purification system in Mexico. Bottled water is provided at most all-inclusives and is the best option when drinking water is needed. Drinking the public water outside of resort property is not recommended. Bottled water is available and will easily suffice. Puerto Vallarata and Cabo San Lucas hotels and restaurants have purified water and bottled water is available in tourist areas. It is recommended to drink bottled water in these areas.

The Cancún International Airport is just 5 miles south of the city center: two hours by air from Mexico City and one hour from Miami. A busy traffic load of regional and international flights come in daily. The Puerto Vallarta airport is located 4 miles from downtown.   The Cabo San Lucas airport(SJD) is Los Cabos International Airport situated 8 miles from San Jose del Cabo and 29 miles from Cabo San Lucas.

Pets can be brought into Mexico as long as the following two documents are presented.

1. A vaccination certificate confirming your pet has been vaccinated against rabies, hepatitis, pip and leptospirosis. 2. An official health certificate issued by a veterinarian no more than 72 hours before entering Mexico.

Rugged mountains, mangrove swamps, dry deserts and thick forests color Mexcio with every form of adventurous terrain. Natural freshwater pools are hidden in various caverns and beautiful beaches border the region on the east and west coast. The dense tropical jungles and striking canyons are just some of the wonders contributing to Mexico’s 47 national parks and 22 biosphere reserves.

The average temperature of Mexico stays pleasantly between 77 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spanish is the common language of Mexico.

Adopted in 1917, Mexico’s constitution provides for a federal republic with powers dispersed between executive, legislative and judicial branches. Though the executive branch has historically dominated, the opposition parties formed in the legislature in 1997 has given Congress increasing authority in the civil agenda.

Abandoned cities, massive temples and unexplained edifices have bewildered tourists for centuries and attest to Mexico’s enduring history. Travelers will undoubtedly find themselves exploring Aztecan pyramids and lost Teotihuacan cities. The famous city of Chichen Itza stands as a monument to Mayan power and is one of the most visited Heritage sites in Mexico. Recent history has left the mark of 16th century monasteries, old cathedrals and the unmistakable architecture of colonial cities.

Cultural Experience

Each region in Mexico offers its own blend of festivities and cultural enrichment for visitors to enjoy. Friends and family always come before business and are often found dancing to salsa tunes or sharing a drink at the local cantina. Different Spanish dialects and creative artwork can be heard and seen through the exciting markets and malls that make up Mexico’s cultural fiesta.

The southern, eastern and some central region states are on Central Standard Time during the winter. Northwest and Pacific coast states are on Mountain Standard Time. And Baja California is on Pacific Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is observed during the summer. Destination information is subject to change without prior notice.

Attractions

Shallow bays, dramatic cliffs, swaying palms and soft sands are found on the 450 beaches of Mexico’s east and west coast. Surf into the golden sands of the Pacific Ocean. Sail from the white shores of the Caribbean Sea. Or simply find a shaded hammock and sway to the rhythm of the lapping waves.

More than 20 centuries of tradition have formed the culinary experience that has carried Mexican dishes across the globe. Corn, beans, chili peppers, vegetables and domestic meats converge into colorful entrees that satiate every taste bud and serve as a cultural cohesion for the Mexican people. For those with diverse tastes, resort areas also feature specialty restaurants with various flavors from around the world.  Resort restaurants typically require a collared shirt and long pants for gentlemen and island casual for ladies when dining in the evening.

The Aquarium of the World

Referred to by Jacques Cousteau as the aquarium of the world, Mexico’s Caribbean and Pacific coasts are teeming with vibrant corals and tropical marine life. Divers can explore portions of the second largest coral reef system in the world just off the eastern shore. And amidst the Yucatan Peninsula is a 60,000-meter stretch of subterranean tunnels, underground rivers, sinkholes and caverns awaiting exploration. A multitude of sunken ships often line these shores and provide a welcomed treasure for the adventurous diver.

Resort Recreations

In-land recreations and coastal endeavors are found over every exotic landscape in Mexico’s all inclusive resort areas.  Those seeking tranquility will find their way to the rolling fairways and lush greens that overtake Mexico’s breathtaking golf courses. Many of these courses boast the handiwork of world-famous designers and promise golfers a challenging game at the links. Those seeking aquatic adventure will find the many beachfront Mexico all inclusive resorts as a perfect base for sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and engaging in every other conceivable water sport.

A New Level of Thrill Seeking

Adrenaline junkies find a new level of thrill seeking amidst the endless excursions, safaris and tours that span Mexico’s borders. Meandering rivers, rugged mountains and thriving tropical rainforests immerse every serious explorer in a world without the taming touch of civilization. Mountain biking, whitewater rafting and eco tours are just some of the many ways to embrace the dramatic geography.

Mexico’s nocturnal nature awakens at dawn and doesn’t rest until the early morning hours. The bass laden sounds of discos, dance clubs and electronic lounges emit from the nightlife hot spots within the resort areas. Local cantinas welcome newcomers to a fresh taste of local and international brews. And the sweet smell of authentic Mexican cuisine can always be found permeating the jubilee. Every region of Mexico sees the setting sun as a prelude to an eventful fiesta. Caution is advised when venturing out for nightlife in any foreign country. Destination information is subject to change without prior notice.

Book cheap all inclusive resorts in mexico from $275.

What's included in all-inclusive resorts? Meals, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and activities are typically included with your room price.

Find the cheapest all-inclusive resorts in Mexico

If you think an all-inclusive resort is out of your budget, think again; expedia has affordable all-inclusive resorts at the ready. And when you factor in all the food and drink you'll be enjoying; you may find that the all-inclusive option is more of a bargain than you thought.

What is included in all-inclusive resorts in Mexico?

You'll find the majority of Mexico's all-inclusive resorts include food and beverages. An icy cocktail or chips and salsa is just a smile away. While domestic beers and most meals are included, high-end stuff like premium alcohol usually come with a surcharge attached.

There are resorts that really live up to the “all-inclusive” moniker. The Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa and the Barceló Maya Palace give you full rein of the in-room minibar and the many on-site activities. So take out a kayak, go snorkeling, or take a cooking class. It's free!

Are all-inclusives worth the money?

For many, ordering up endless cold drinks while you watch the waves is worth every penny. And for families, not having to bounce from location to location for activities or meals is well worth the cost.

Do you tip at all-inclusive in Mexico?

Most service staff will gladly accept a tip for a job well done, but it's up to you how much you want to give. It's best to tip in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

How to get the best deal on all-inclusive resort in Mexico?

  • Visiting Mexico during the off months (April, May, October, and November) can save you a pretty penny, while booking several months in advance can also keep more dollars in your wallet.
  • Look at the list of amenities; you don't want to spend on a resort that is geared more towards nightlife activities if you're traveling with kids.
  • An easy way to save is to bundle an all-inclusive Mexico resort with your flight on expedia. By booking them together, you'll still be able to pick the resort and flights you want, but at a better rate.
