- Matt Winston (Team DSM coach): "We're looking forward to tackling our first WorldTour level race of the year at the UAE Tour. The seven stages offer a variety of terrain for us to contend with, including several sprint opportunities, a time trial and two mountain top finishes on stage four and seven; although like a lot of races in the region, the wind can also be a factor in the more exposed areas. We go with a team prepared for the lead outs in the sprints and we also have some really solid options for the two stages with a mountain top finish, where we will chase day results and take each stage as it comes."

- Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo-Visma) following his Stage 5 victory: "The pace slowed down a bit in the peloton. I thought it would be a good time to try. Fortunately I was able to catch Lutsenko and beat him in the sprint. I am very happy with this victory, my first victory of the season. It has been two years since my last win. It feels good to show that I have a good level. This is also very nice for the team. Hopefully this is the beginning of many victories."

- Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) won Stage 5. Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) remains leader on G.C.

- Breaking news: The Alpecin-Fenix team of race leader Mathieu van der Poel has withdrawn from the race due to a covid-19 positive test returned by a member of the team staff.

- Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) after his Stage 2 victory: "It’s never easy to win a time trial even if you do it with good legs and a strong focus. Luckily my body was ready for this effort today. It’s a fantastic result for me and for the team. It was a bit strange to ride in the desert and it’s my first time at the UAE Tour. It’s hard to ride at 55 or 56km/h but I’m really happy today."

- Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) won the Stage 2 individual time trial.  Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) is new leader on G.C.

I am really excited, and I have been training a lot for it in the last weeks. I have studied the stages but of course only once we are in the race, we will know how to approach each single day. There will not be a selected leader for this race for our Team, for this reason it will be important to see as a team how the first half of the tour will go and then we can adjust our strategy for the second half in order to achieve the best result for our team."

- Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) following Stage 4: "I started my sprint from the 7th position which was maybe a little bit too far behind, that's why I was blocked in in the end. I can still be happy with my form, I'm now looking forward to more sprint finishes here at the UAE Tour."

- Stage 4 winner Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma) following the stage: "This is a very good win. I am very pleased.  I beat the world’s best sprinters today. This is a really sweet victory. In the first stage I probably had the fastest sprint of all, but I was not well positioned. That meant I had to come from too far. Today it was a totally different sprint. The boys did a perfect lead-out. It was a hectic final, but everyone really had his share in my stage win. They all went flat-out. We decided to move up to the front in the last three kilometres because of the strong headwind. Christoph (Pfingsten) has the eye to put me in the best position for the sprint. Then I perfectly timed my sprint. I am happy that I was able to finish off the team’s work."

- Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) won Stage 3 and took over the race lead.

- Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) won Stage 2 and is new overall leader.

- Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) following Stage 2: "Today was a really tough day in the saddle. I had some problems with the heat and didn’t feel very well but I still tried to go for a good result. Unfortunately, the pace in the final was too fast for me that’s why I couldn't keep up with the front group on the long climb ten kilometres before the finish line. When I got dropped, I took it a bit easier to save energy for the upcoming stages. I would like to thank my teammates for supporting me, I’ll do my best to get back on the winning track again."

- Pascal Ackermann (Bora-HANSGROHE) won Stage 1 and is first leader in the general classification.

- Deceuninck-Quickstep roster for the 2020 UAE Tour:

Shane Archbold (NZL) Sam Bennett (IRL) Mattia Cattaneo (ITA) James Knox (GBR) Michael Mørkøv (DEN) Pieter Serry (BEL) Stijn Steels (BEL) Sports Directors: Klaas Lodewyck (BEL) Geert Van Bondt (BEL)

- Geert Van Bondt (Deceuninck-Quickstep directeur sportif): "The number one goal is to win a stage and in Sam we have one of the favourites. He showed in Australia that he is in shape and we are really looking forward to the bunch gallops and our colourful lead-out train featuring Shane and Michael, while at the same time being aware it won’t be easy, as many top sprinters are at the start.  James has had a good start to the season in Valencia and we all remember his solid and impressive ride that helped him crack the top 10 overall last year at the UAE Tour, which would be nice if it were to happen again. The Jebel Hafeet climb suits him, but we’re not putting any pressure, we’ll just see how it goes. Mattia can also do a good race, while Pieter and Stijn will be there to help the team control the race."

- Andrey Amador, who joined Team INEOS on a 3-year deal, will make his debut with the team at the UAE Tour.  "Who wouldn’t be excited to sign with Team INEOS? I’m very happy to be part of this great Team. I have spent all of my sporting career with Movistar and I owe them a lot – but I felt now is the right time in my career to seek some new motivations. This is a new challenge and I will give everything I have for this Team.  Everyone can see there is a strong unit at this Team – there is an impressive bunch of riders and staff.  I’m excited to be part of this group, joining alongside Richard Carapaz. I’m happy we can continue to ride together after what were able to do with Movistar at the Giro d’Italia."

UAE Tour 2024, who will take the top step of the podium? Remco Evenepoel wins GC in 2023

UAE Tour 2024: Key details

Now in its sixth edition, the UAE Tour 2024 comprises a seven-day stage race starting on 19 February and finishing on 25 February. It is the result of a merger between the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Dubai Tour , and is one of the first events on the year's UCI WorldTour calendar.

Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) won the inaugural UAE Tour in 2019, with Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) claiming the 2020 title. In the 2021 and 2022, Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates) has taken back-to-back victories in the desert. 2023 was won by  Remco Evenepoel of Soudal–Quick-Step

Previous champions of the Dubai Tour include Mark Cavendish, Elia Viviani and Marcel Kittel, with the event predominantly favouring sprinters. Comparatively, the Abu Dhabi Tour was more one for the climbers, thanks to the pivotal climb of the 10.8 kilometre Jebel Hafeet. In 2018, Alejandro Valverde scooped up the win.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Calls Jerry Seinfeld's P.C. Stance A 'Red Flag'

Taylor swift shuts down show until security helps fan in viral video, taylor swift shuts down show to help fan ... 'i can do this all night'.

Taylor Swift 's serious about her fans' health ... straight-up refusing to sing until security could get to someone who apparently needed help -- and narrating the whole situation.

New video -- now circulating on X -- shows the singer-songwriter onstage in Edinburgh, Scotland Friday ... strumming the notes to her song "Would've, Could've, Should've" before she sees a few of her fans in her crowd she feels need assistance.

Over the microphone, Taylor says there's someone right in front of her who needs help ... and adds she's not going to sing until event staff rushes to aid the fans.

Tay even uses her guitar to point to the group in need ... singing a jaunty, little tune about how she's just going to keep playing her guitar until someone physically gets to the group.

Basically, it takes a while before Swift's able to keep the concert going -- but, her fans seem to love it ... cheering on their queen for keeping an eye out for supporters in trouble.

This is a pretty common theme for the "Eras" tour ... Swift's called attention to fans in trouble in the past -- including in France last weekend where she actually pointed them out to staff in some pretty impressive French.

No need to flex her knowledge of other languages this time ... but, another example of Taylor proving she really cares about her Swifties.

Taylor's got one more show in Edinburgh kicking off this evening before heading a few hours south to Liverpool where she'll play three concerts on Father's Day weekend.

Hopefully, no issues at that performance ... but, we know Swift will be all over it if there are.

Latest gold rates in UAE

Gold rates for as on 10th june 2024  rate in aed per gm.

  • 22K AED         257.25

  • 18K AED       213.50

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) boasts a thriving gold market, firmly establishing itself as a key player in the global gold trade. With over a third of its imports consisting of gold reserves, the UAE has emerged as a significant hub for gold transactions. The primary markets for the UAE include India, Switzerland, and the USA, with gold imports reaching a substantial $20 billion in 2019, marking a notable increase from the preceding year.

Supply and Demand Dynamics

In the UAE, the demand for gold is predominantly fueled by consumer purchases of jewelry, representing nearly half of all gold transactions. Furthermore, institutional investors and banks play a pivotal role, acquiring substantial amounts of gold during periods of economic uncertainty or when profit potential arises. Despite domestic production, which is supplemented by imports primarily from Africa and Europe, the UAE relies heavily on global markets to meet its gold supply requirements.

Future Trajectories

Looking ahead, the UAE's gold market is poised to navigate various geopolitical and economic factors that may influence its trajectory. Fluctuations in oil prices and concerns regarding global economic growth could potentially impact demand for gold products. Moreover, the ongoing transition from physical gold to digital investments may present challenges to the UAE's position as a prominent trading hub for precious metals. Nevertheless, the nation's robust infrastructure, supportive governmental policies, and active engagement in international initiatives signal a promising outlook for its continued dominance in the industry.

Understanding Carats/Karats

The purity of gold is measured in carats or karats (symbol/abbreviation K), with pure gold denoted as 24K. Pure gold, while malleable and ductile, is unsuitable for jewelry due to its softness. Therefore, gold is typically alloyed with other metals to enhance its durability. Here's a breakdown of common gold alloys:

  • 24K: Pure gold.
  • 22K: Alloy containing 22 parts pure gold and two parts other metals, with a gold percentage of 91.7 (22/24).
  • 21K: Alloy comprising 21 parts pure gold and three parts other metals, with a gold percentage of 87.5 (21/24).
  • 18K: Alloy composed of 18 parts pure gold and six parts other metals, with a gold percentage of 75 (18/24).
  • 14K: Alloy consisting of 14 parts pure gold and ten parts other metals, with a gold percentage of 58.3 (14/24).
  • 9K: Alloy containing nine parts pure gold and 15 parts other metals, with a gold percentage of 37.5 (9/24).

Taylor Swift performs Eras Tour in Edinburgh, Scotland: 'What a way to welcome a lass.'

uae tour videos

Taylor Swift is beginning her United Kingdom adventure performing three sold out nights at the Scotland Gas Murrayfield stadium.

"The last time I was here was almost 10 years ago," she said holding her sky blue "Lover" guitar in front of nearly 73,000 screaming fans. The last time the Eras Tour star performed within the Scottish borders was her "1989 World Tour" in Glasgow in 2015.

"I had someone pull me aside and say, 'Hey we checked this 20 times and we swear it's accurate, 'This is the highest attended concert in Scottish history,'" she added. "What a way to welcome a lass to Scotland."

Harry Styles held the record with 65,000 fans on at his Love on Tour show in 2023, according to The National. The news site said the stadium capacity was increased by 8% for the Eras Tour.

Scottish lake renamed Loch Tay Tay

In a warm gesture to the singer's arrival, the First Minister or head of the Scottish Government hosted a renaming ceremony at Loch Tay, a freshwater lake two hours north of Edinburgh.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

"The first thing I want to say to Taylor and to all of her Swifties is they’re really really welcome here in Scotland," said Scottish First Minister John Swinney during a media event at the lake on Wednesday. "I’m so thrilled and the fact that Loch Tay is being renamed Loch Tay Tay is just fabulous."

'My one regret' is...

Swift's massive tour schedule is slated to visit 22 countries over the course of two years with 18 European cities on the itinerary. She has performed some cities in the past like London, Paris and Madrid. Other cities are new to her world tour including Lyon, France and Stockholm, Sweden.

In a similar message during her "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)," Swift told the Scottish audience how she loves that the Eras Tour showcases her extensive discography.

“My one regret in terms of the tours that we’ve done is that I really should have come to play in Scotland more," she said. “Look at what you’ve done. You made us feel so welcome. You’ve been so beautifully generous to us."

Swift's three plus hour show boomed out of the open-roofed stadium in Scotland to fans sitting outside the Murrayfield walls. Known as "Taylor"gating, fans sat on the grass attempting to watch livestreams on their phones of the show inside while listening to the music live. However, different from other concert cities, the livestreams inside the stadium were incredibly spotty and unreliable.

The Eras Tour heads next to Liverpool, England on Thursday when Swift will perform her 100th Eras Tour show on June 13.

Race schedule.

The 2022 WorldTour season officially begins this week with the UAE Tour kicking off the top-level season.

Last year's race saw Tadej Pogačar claim overall victory for home squad UAE Team Emirates after the COVID-19 disrupted race of the previous season which marked the beginning of the end of the 2020 spring calendar.

The Slovenian will once again be bidding for overall victory this year as he heads up a full-strength UAE lineup including 2021 third-place finisher João Almeida, climbers George Bennett and Rafał Majka, and sprinter Pascal Ackermann.

Cyclingnews will be bringing you full reports, results, news, interviews, and analysis throughout the race. Read on to find out how to watch the UAE Tour via live stream, no matter your location, with ExpressVPN .

Tadej Pogacar confirmed for UAE Tour after recovering from COVID-19 UAE Tour offers sprint showdown between Bennett, Cavendish, Viviani and Groenewegen Fernando Gaviria out of UAE Tour after third COVID-19 positive

Despite boasting the strongest team on the startlist, UAE Team Emirates will face some stern competition during the seven-day race.

Adam Yates , who beat Pogačar in 2020 before finishing second last year, will head up the Ineos Grenadiers selection which also includes time trial world champion Filippo Ganna and star sprinter Elia Viviani.

Over at Bora-Hansgrohe, Aleksandr Vlasov will look to continue his strong start to the season after winning the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. Jai Hindley also races, while sprinter Sam Bennett makes his second debut for the squad.
