Wandering Death – World Boss Guide (Season 4)

Learn how to beat the Wandering Death, and reap the rewards!

NeviriahAvatar

Introduction

The Wandering Death is one of the World Bosses players can encounter in Diablo 4. It is a huge behemoth that has many dangerous attacks, with its only goal to slash any wanderer who dares cross its path. In this guide, we will cover all essential boss mechanics and tips for defeating this powerful enemy!

For guides on the other two World Bosses, check the links below.

Wandering Death – Location

Wandering Death can have more than one spawn location, as players progress through Sanctuary. For example; he could spawn inside the Sarran Caldera in the Dry Steppes, or the Fields of Desecration in Hawezar, depending on the player’s region progress.

When the time comes, a world boss icon will appear on the map, showing the location of the boss, and the time left until he appears.

wandering death

Once the Wandering Death appears, an event timer will begin, and players that are in the area will automatically participate in the event. Furthermore, it is not necessary to group up or be in a party in order to take part in the event and obtain rewards afterward.

  • When the event begins, the camera will zoom out, indicating that the fight has started.
  • A timer will appear on the screen, indicating how much time remains to defeat the world boss before it retreats underground again.

It is recommended to have at least 12 players to engage in the challenging fight with this world boss. However, even with a group of this size, it won’t be an easy task to defeat the Wandering Death.

Wandering Death – Boss Mechanics

The Wandering Death is a challenging world boss that has multiple phases and abilities. The phases, which are marked by the arrows on the health bar turning upside down and becoming grey, not only indicate when the next stage is reached, but also when some more Health Potions are dropped.

Like other bosses, Wandering Death will have a stagger bar that can be filled by using crowd control effects. Once the stagger bar is full, Wandering Death will be immobilized for a few seconds, giving players time to unleash their most powerful attacks during that time.

Ashava stagger bar

The Wandering Death has a unique mechanic that’s triggered upon becoming staggered, spawning two caged souls. These cages can be destroyed before Wandering Death consumes them. Additionally, destroying these cages will deal massive damage to the boss.

In the event that a player dies during the fight, they can be revived by other players, or they can choose to revive at the checkpoint, which is located near the boss. However, it is important to note that reviving at the checkpoint will result in gear damage each time.

Fight Mechanics

The Wandering Death presents a challenging fight with six different mechanics that players will need to be aware of. Mobility skills and dodging will be essential, as you must be quick to evade hard-hitting attacks.

Below, we go over the six mechanics that participating players should pay attention to during this fight:

This is Wandering Death’s most powerful attack. He will channel two beams from his hands while rotating slowly. The more health players take from him, the more beams he will channel during the attack. An easy way to avoid this attack is to move at the same pace as the boss does while rotating, in order to stay between two beams.

Death Crater

For this ability, the Wandering Death will create a crater that will explode and deal heavy damage after 5 seconds. If you end up trapped inside, it will block all the attacks. After Phase 1, he will create more than one crater at the same time. Evade the craters as soon as they spawn, otherwise you will become trapped inside.

Death Grasp

Wandering Death will shoot two hooks underground, that will then rise back up and retract themselves , pulling in any player that was in the way. Again, as health goes down, the boss will shoot more than two hooks with time. Be aware that the hooks do a great amount of damage. The ground should change colors when the hooks are underground , so try to move as far away from the spots on the ground as possible .

Death Pound

Occasionally, Wandering Death will slam the ground twice in front of him before then slamming the ground behind him with both hands. This will create waves of multiple spike lines . This attack deals heavy damage to players that are hit. Note that the pound into the ground will be more dangerous when the boss has low health, while the spikes are more dangerous at high health . Evading this attack is no easy matter, so it is important to either be aware of the pound or the spike, depending on the boss’s health state, in order to take as little damage as possible.

Death Shout

Last but not least, Wandering Death will shout out and send shockwaves radiating from his body that will knock back players . This attack increases in distance and damage as Wandering Death’s health goes down.

Death Tornadoes

For this ability, the Wandering Death creates tornadoes that tear up the battlefield, three at a time . More sets of tornadoes appear as his health goes down, so you should be aware of your surroundings and look out for roaming dangers.

Wandering Death World Boss Guide

Last Updated: May 22nd 2024

The Wandering Death World Boss can be found in special areas of the world as you are progressing from region to region. This massive behemoth is equipped with many dangerous abilities looking to flatten any heroes that dare to challenge them. Because any World Boss is very dangerous, teaming up with other players is absolutely necessary. When slain, loot drops alongside a special item called  Scattered Prism , used to add sockets to certain slots of gear. In this guide, we cover how to find and take down the Wandering Death World Boss successfully.

wandering death

World bosses can spawn at the Crucible in Fractured Peaks , Saraan Caldera in Dry Steppes , and The Seared Basin in Kehjistan . When you arrive, there is a timer, letting you know how much time is left before the World Boss spawns. Use this time to prep for the fight or invite friends to tag along. Joining the event after it starts is only possible for a short window of time. These fights are so massive in scale that the camera actually zooms out once combat starts.

wandering death

A World Boss's health bar has 4 breakpoints. Once a breakpoint is reached, the red arrow flips up and turn grey. This indicates that you are in the next phase of the fight, while also dropping multiple healing vials. Each phase is more challenging than the last.

Stagger Bar

Immediately beneath the health bar is a stagger bar, this slowly fills when Crowd Control (CC) is dealt. Once full, the World Boss is rendered helpless for 12 seconds. Use this time to unleash as much hell as you possibly can. Each World Boss also has a unique mechanic in addition to being staggered. The Wandering Death World Boss spawns 2 caged Trapped Souls after being staggered that can be destroyed before he consumes them, dealing massive damage to him.

Wandering Death World Boss Mechanics

wandering death

We are separating the attack mechanics into two different categories based on threat level;  Major  and  Minor .

Major Threats

These are attacks that can one shot you if you are not careful. Wandering Death often telegraph its attacks, giving you ample time to get out of the way.

  • Death Beam - Channels 2 beams from his hands while rotating slowly. More beams are channeled as health depletes. These beams deal massive damage, so stay between the beams as he rotates.
  • Death Crater - Forms a crater that explodes and deals damage after 5 seconds. Craters can block attacks and trap you inside them. More craters are created as health depletes. This ability does great damage, so evade them as soon as you see them spawn, lest the Walls form and trap you inside. Breach the Walls with attacks or movement skills if you find yourself trapped.
  • Death Grasp - Shoots 2 hooks underground that surface upwards and then retract - pulling you in. More Hooks are shot as health depletes. This ability does high damage, so keep moving when you see the ground change colors as if it's been combed to avoid this attack.
  • Death Pound - Slams the ground in front of him twice, then slams the ground behind him with both hands. This attack forms waves of spikes that protrude out of the ground. The Boss uses more hands to cover more ground as his health depletes. This ability can deal cataclysmic damage. When the Boss is low health, The pounds are more dangerous than the spikes that come after. The inverse is true when the boss has high health. Knowing which is more dangerous is key to survival.

Minor Threats

These are attacks that deal relatively small damage compared to their major counterparts. A decently built character should be able to withstand these attacks.

  • Death Shout - Shouts and sends shockwaves radiating from the body, knocking you back. Increases in distance and damage as health depletes.
  • Death Tornadoes - Spawns tornadoes that ravage the battlefield, 3 are spawned at a time. Spawns more tornado triplets as his health depletes.

Boss Summoning Materials

World Bosses are one of the key activities in Diablo 4 that allow you to collect materials and summon one of many Bosses. Lord Zir is a Fire themed Boss that requires you to collect Exquisite Blood (World Tier 4 ONLY) from defeating World Bosses. In addition, you have a random chance of obtaining materials for any Laddar Boss . Once you have collected enough, you can summon and defeat them.

To learn more about Lord Zir and other Bosses, read our full Boss Guides .
  • Be sure to fit in a few Wandering Death World Boss while traveling to collect Scattered Prisms . Adding sockets is a key part of gear progression.
  • Knowing when and where a World Boss can spawn saves you time. Get there before they start to ensure you don't miss it.
  • Understanding health bar breakpoints, attacks and unique stagger mechanics make the fight easier to manage.

Diablo 4 - How To Beat The Wandering Death World Boss

Here's how you can take out the Wandering Death World Boss in Diablo 4.

By Jason Rodriguez on June 8, 2023 at 6:45PM PDT

The Diablo 4 Wandering Death is one of the game's World Bosses. This creepy behemoth, which looks like a giant tree made of bones, has numerous devastating abilities that you need to watch out for. Our Diablo 4 Wandering Death guide discusses this foe's spawn times and abilities.

How to Beat Wandering Death in Diablo 4

Wandering death spawn times.

The Diablo 4 Wandering Death does not have a specific spawn time or location. Rather, it's part of a selection pool along with other World Bosses. Here's how it works:

  • Every six hours, a World Boss will spawn in the game.
  • The location varies, but it's usually in one of the large, circular arenas. These include Fractured Peaks – The Crucible, Scosglen – Caen Adar, Dry Steppes – Saraan Caldera, Kehjistan – Seared Basin, and Hawezar – Fields of Desecration.
  • As of the time of this writing, we've noticed that the World Boss you'll fight tends to be random, so there's no guarantee that you'll see the Wandering Death at a specific timeframe.
  • 30 minutes before the boss appears, an icon will appear over an arena, notifying all players that a World Boss is about to spawn. That means you should see almost a dozen players running to the same location to partake in the activity.
  • Once the fight begins, players have 15 minutes to defeat the creature before it disappears.

We first encountered Wandering Death when it spawned in the Hawezar arena.

Wandering Death Abilities

These are the abilities that you need to watch out for when you're fighting the Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss:

  • Spectral Circle -Multiple circular outlines will appear on the ground. Move out of the way since these will slow you down and deal damage-over-time.
  • Bone Jail - If Necromancers have the Bone Prison, then the Wandering Death has the Bone Jail. Basically, it will create up to three enclosures in the area. If you're trapped inside, quickly destroy the walls so you can escape. That's because a massive blast will engulf that spot after a few seconds.
  • Iron Spikes - Black lines will appear on the ground, signifying that multiple serrated spikes will cascade to and fro the boss' location.
  • Negation Beam - This is the Wandering Death's ultimate spell, where it creates up to three beams of searing energy. When you see the outlines appear from its arms, be ready to move. The boss will rotate, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. You also have to move around as it spins, taking care to stay within the safe spots as you're circling around it.

Gallery image 1

Generally speaking, the Wandering Death World Boss has attacks that are easily telegraphed, so you can prepare your dodges, potions, or defensive skill cooldowns. Ranged classes such as the Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer might have an easier time by staying further away from the target. Those who focus on melee, such as Barbarians and Druids, need to be more alert when the creature is about to cast its abilities.

In any case, that's all you need to know about beating the Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss. For your efforts, you'll receive random loot, which can include Sacred and Ancestral items . Likewise, the target also acts as a Whisper of the Dead bounty , ensuring that you receive +5 Grim Favors after a kill. Last but not least, this isn't the only behemoth that you can battle. As noted earlier, their spawns might be random, but you can also end up fighting Ashava the Pestilent and Avarice the Gold Cursed .

Diablo 4 has numerous classes, mechanics, and activities. For more about the game, you can visit our D4 guides hub .

Diablo 4 Wandering Death: Location, spawn times, and strategies

Wandering Death, Death Given Life is one of the most fearsome creatures to walk Sanctuary

How do you beat Wandering Death, Death Given Life, in Diablo 4? Wandering Death is a skeleton-like creature and is among the most horrifying beings to walk Sanctuary in Diablo 4 . And, given such a menacing name, it's bound to be a challenge.

However, with great risks come great rewards, and taking on this monster can lead to some sweet loot. So, if you're ready to gear up and try your hand at one of the hardest bosses in Diablo 4, here's what you'll want to know.

Where to find Wandering Death in Diablo 4

World Bosses, including Wandering Death, can spawn at any one of five World Boss spawn locations in accordance with set Diablo 4 World Boss spawn times . These spawn times are typically within six to eight hours of one another.

If you've not completed the campaign, you can still look to the Discord community for spawn times and locations to track down and defeat this boss, which will scale with your level. That means you shouldn't be afraid to fight it if you come across it, as you can participate in the event and earn rewards for slaughtering this enemy.

Diablo 4 Wandering Death, Death Given Life shoots beams during a battle.

How to defeat Diablo 4 Wandering Death

If you plan to take on Wandering Death, you'll first want to ensure you have some allies in battle. If you don't have enough people, it'll be tough to take down any World Boss as these are designed as encounters for 10-15 people. As an aside, it's also possible to have too many players to take down a World Boss, as the boss will scale to your difficulty, but its HP is contingent on the number of players in the battle.

You'll also want to ensure you have a stellar build to help defeat this boss, as you'll want to do as much DPS as possible. At higher levels, you should be doing thousands of damage per hit. This requires having a solid set of Ancestral or Sacred Legendary gear with solid affixes, which you can also upgrade and enhance with Diablo 4 Gems . Wandering Death deals Shadow damage , so equip your jewelry with amethyst stones, and don't forget to use a Shadow Resistance Elixir , too.

You'll avoid dying to the Wandering Death if you can avoid its abilities, which include circular areas on the ground to avoid as the creature ground pounds, a knockback attack that you can't always avoid, tornado spawns, a bone enclosure trap, iron spikes you must immediately dodge, and powerful beams of searing energy.

You'll also want to keep tabs on this boss' stagger bar. When Wandering Death is stunned, it will release Trapped Souls . Defeating these souls does significant damage to the entity, so if you can, time your Ultimate skills to use during this interlude as you must destroy them for them to deal damage to Wandering Death.

Diablo 4 Wandering Death rewards

Each week, you can earn a Weekly Bonus Cache for defeating each of the World Bosses, for a total of three each week. Your chances of earning great Legendary rewards increase when playing on higher World Tiers. At World Tier 4, you will likely earn Ancestral and Sacred Legendary gear, gold, and Scattered Prisms . If you've slain this demonic entity once in a given week, you can still defeat it again to continue earning powerful rewards.

If you fail to beat the boss within the 15-minute allocated timer, you earn no rewards.

That's everything to know about taking on Wandering Death, Death Given Life, in the Diablo 4 World Boss area. Once you've taken on Wandering Death, you'll also want to take on Ashava, the Pestilent and Avarice, the Gold Cursed . If you are having trouble slaying any of these monsters, you may want to check out our guides to the best Diablo 4 Sorcerer build , best Diablo 4 Druid build , and the best Diablo 4 Necromancer build to see how you can strengthen your character for combat.

It is recommended to have optimized gear and builds for your respective class. If you are missing key pieces like Aspects from the Codex of Power , you can try farming for legendary items and gambling with the Purveyor of Curiosities .

Best Builds for PvE and PvP

Party Up With Other Players

Diablo 4 - Party Up

World Bosses are extremely difficult to take on alone. It is highly recommended to team up with other players because there is a 15-minute time limit for these encounters. You will need all the extra firepower and crowd control you can get from other players in order to succeed.

  • What Is the Maximum Party Size?

Use Crowd Control

Diablo 4 - Wandering Death Staggered

World Bosses have a Stagger Bar below their Health Bar. Filling up the Stagger Bar by using crowd control Skills will open up a window for your party to deal as much damage as you can .

In addition, when Wandering Death is staggered, two Trapped Souls will spawn. Kill them as soon as possible to deal extra damage .

All Crowd Control Effects

Crowd Control is a generic term for debilitating effects which limit or stop enemy movement . The table below lists all effects in the game that contribute to Crowd Control.

Revive Yourself Immediately

Diablo 4 - Revive Yourself Immediately

Waiting for allies to revive you will use up time that could be better used to deal damage instead. It also puts them in a dangerous position and puts them at risk of taking a lethal attack from Wandering Death. Take the 10% loss in equipment durability and return to the fray immediately!

Lower World Tier Difficulty

Diablo 4 - Lower World Tier Difficulty

As a last resort, you can always try to lower the World Tier. You may get an upgrade that can help you beat Wandering Death at a higher World Tier.

How to Change World Tier

Minor Attacks

Bone vortex.

Wandering Death summons small tornadoes into the field. These are easily avoidable as long as you stay mindful of your positioning.

Ground Rake

Wandering Death rends the ground in straight lines and pulls back the shattered fragments. This attack moves pretty slow and is easily avoidable, but increases in number as the fight goes on.

Wandering Death sends out a massive shockwave that knocks everyone back to reset the fight and disrupt formation.

Dangerous Attacks

Ground pound.

Wandering Death slams the ground with its massive hands that sends spikes hurtling forward. As the fight continues, Wandering Death will use more hands to increase the AoE of this attack. Watch out for the AoE indicator on the ground to avoid this attack.

Wandering Death fires two beams from its hands and slowly rotates. This attack takes some time to wind up and is easily avoidable, but it deals massive damage to anyone caught. Wandering Death fires more beams as its health drops.

Bone Prison

Wandering Death has its own version of the Necromancer 's Bone Prison but much deadlier. After spawning a circular wall of bones, an explosion will occur shortly. Players caught in the Bone Prison has a few seconds to escape, and failure to do so will most likely deal fatal damage.

Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss location and how to beat it

Here's where, when, and how you can beat the Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss

Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss

The Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss is guaranteed to give you nightmares if you encounter it, but if you can look beyond its hideous appearance then there's some prime loot to be had by taking it down. As with the other World Bosses, you'll only find Wandering Death, Death Given Life in specific arenas around Sanctuary at occasional pre-determined times. When it does show up, you'll want to recruit some allies to help you out in Diablo 4 as this boss packs some serious necromantic power and can prove a real challenge to eliminate. If you're ready to fight death itself, then here is the important information you need to know for tackling the Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss, including when and where it can spawn, tips on how to beat it, and the rewards it offers.

Wandering Death spawn locations and times in Diablo 4

The Wandering Death World Boss in Diablo 4 can spawn at five World Boss battle arenas around Sanctuary . One World Boss spawns in the same place for all players roughly every 6-8 hours , though there are five possible locations that Wandering Death can appear in:

Diablo 4 World boss arena locations marked on map

  • The Crucible in Fractured Peaks . It's in the far east of the region and is roughly northeast of Yelesna.
  • Caen Adar in Scosglen . On the north coast of the region, directly north of Corbach and roughly northeast of Cerrigar.
  • Saraan Caldera in Dry Steppes . Towards the southeast of the Dry Steppes next to the border with the Fractured Peaks near Nevesk, and northeast of the Ruins of Qara Yisu.
  • Seared Basin in Kehjistan . Towards the northeast of Kehjistan. The arena is north of Tarsarak in Kehjistan and roughly southeast of Jirandai in the Dry Steppes.
  • Fields of Desecration in Hawezar . Near the southwest corner of Hawezar and southeast of Zarbinzet.

If you want to be a serious World Boss hunter, you should bookmark this great boss timer and tracker which predict when the next World Boss, including Wandering Death, will spawn. Any player can use this tracker to fight World Bosses, even if you haven’t completed the Diablo 4 story – although if you have completed the story, you’ll get 30-minute warnings for upcoming World Boss spawns!

Tips for beating Wandering Death in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss

Since Wandering Death is a Diablo 4 World Boss, you should make sure you’re at least Level 30 when taking it on – although preferably higher than that. We also recommend partying up with some friends for some guaranteed help and coordination, but you should be matched with other players anyway through Diablo 4 crossplay .

Like the other World Bosses, such as Diablo 4 Ashava and Diablo 4 Avarice , Wandering Death has a huge health bar that you’ve got to wear down in less than 15 minutes. While damage is important, you can take your time, to an extent, and don’t need to be reckless. All five arenas are very big, so don't be afraid to briefly flee from Wandering Death to use one of your Diablo 4 Healing Potions while your allies continue fighting.

When you do fight, try to strike the boss’s back and avoid its massive, swinging arms as much as possible – there are four them! These brutal melee strike are clearly telegraphed but are extremely powerful and will take out huge chunks of health. Furthermore, Wandering Death uses a lot of AoE attacks, from damaging pools of necromantic energy and poison (that can also move!) to huge spinning beams. Late into the fight, it can also create crushing bone walls that act like cages. Overall, you’ve got to be as mobile as possible and watch Wandering Death’s attacks as much as you’re focusing on your own DPS.

Diablo 4 Wandering Death rewards

If you successfully beat the Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss within the 15-minute time limit, you'll get a variety of rewards for your victory. Legendary and even Unique-rarity armor, weapons, and jewelry can drop. Additionally, you’ll get Gold, XP, and Scattered Prisms from Wandering Death. If this boss happens to be the first World Boss you’ve defeated in the current week, you'll also be rewarded with the weekly Grand Cache , offering extra loot including Legendaries, Gems, and Gold.

Diablo 4 's experimentation has allowed the development team to play with MMO mechanics such as Raiding. Large enemies, called World Bosses, spawn on a semi-regular schedule and are meant to be fought by a small army of players.

Related: Diablo 4: Paragon Board Guide

There are three total World Bosses, each dropping rare end-game loot. To conquer The Wandering Death, you'll need elixirs, awesome gear, a winning strategy, and a lot of friends.

Fighting the Wandering Death shouldn't be taken lightly; if you plan to fight him, consider taking a portal back to town for a quick elixir and examination of your gear . When looking over your layout, consider how well-suited it is to deal with The Wandering Death's attacks.

Damage Type

The first step in taking on a World Boss is knowing what their primary damage type is. In the case of Wandering Death, this will be Shadow damage and physical damage . Additionally, most of the boss' attacks are AoE based and can be dodged.

This means that a good way to prepare has Elixirs and gear with the following:

  • Shadow resistance
  • Movement speed

Obviously, you won't want to change out gear that gives you levels in your main skill or provides key aspects of your build, but Elixirs are dirt cheap and easy to throw on before the fight. Remember, you can only have one active at a time.

How To Tell When The Wandering Death Is Spawning

The Wandering Death is thought to spawn every 4–6 hours. You will see an icon over the boss arena on your map shortly before Wandering Death spawns if you are:

  • Playing a character who has beaten the main campaign
  • Are in at least World Tier 3

Once you see that icon, gather your stuff and book it to the location, as the arena will lock out late arrivals shortly after the battle begins.

Number Of Players Required

World Bosses are meant to be big, multiplayer experiences. While it's impossible to rule out that someone will eventually solo the Wandering Death, this is ridiculously difficult. Instead, plan on having at least 15 - 20 players for a successful takedown.

Once you have everything you need, your next task will be finding and fighting the boss. The

Spawn Locations

The Wandering Death can spawn in any of the five World Boss Arenas currently included in Diablo 4. For best results, keep an eye on your map page and explore each region, so you can get there fast after the marker pops up.

World Bosses have a much larger version of a standard Health bar . It will be broken up into three sections to signify the boss' phases, as well as dropping potions at each marker. It is unknown exactly what the health pool looks like on World Bosses, but it usually takes almost the entire 15-minute timer to defeat them.

Stagger Bar

World Bosses cannot be affected by regular crowd control abilities, unlike regular enemies. Instead, The Wandering Death has a stagger bar. When players use crowd control abilities , this stagger bar will slowly fill. When the bar is full, the boss will pause its onslaught and take additional damage.

In addition, the Wandering Death has a unique mechanic tied to the stagger bar. When staggered, the boss spawns two soul cages, which he will consume after the stagger is over. The boss heals a small amount and becomes enraged when consuming trapped souls, but players can destroy the cages to deal massive damage to The Wandering Death and prevent this healing.

Related: Diablo 4: What Are Helltides

In addition to the more generic mechanics of the fight, The Wandering Death has several powerful attacks. Keep reading to learn the effects of each and how to avoid them, starting with the most dangerous.

The boss' Laser Beams are the biggest threat in this fight. These do massive damage and will slowly rotate while being channeled. During the different stages of the boss fight, the number of beams starts at two and will gradually increase to four beams. During the final stages of the fight, the boss may also pair its beam attack with a grasping attack.

To avoid damage from this ability, move in the same direction at the same speed as the beams. Resist the temptation to use dash abilities during this period, as you are more likely to kill yourself than accomplish anything useful. If you need to move out of the grasp, move diagonally backward.

The next most dangerous attack when fighting The Wandering Death is its Crater of Bones . This ability will have a five-second windup followed by a large AoE attack. Initially, there will be only one crater spawning at a time, but this number will go up.

During this phase, use your Evade or Dash to exit the AoE before detonation . The crater has a clear indicator with plenty of time, which is lucky since this ability can easily one-shot squishier characters.

This attack uses multiple hooked claws to drag the player toward The Wandering Death. The ability packs a punch, and there will be more and more hooks spawning as the boss' health gets lower. To dodge this attack, watch for comb marks to appear on the ground -- this will tell you where the claws will travel.

The final high-damage ability in this boss' kit is a Pound attack. The boss will slam his hands down on the ground, causing initial damage as well as a secondary wave of spikes to pass over the area. At the beginning of the fight, most of the damage is backloaded into the spikes, while in later stages, the pound portion of the attack is more devastating .

When dealing with this attack, watch the position of the Wandering Death's arms (the first phase has two while the later phases have four). This will tell you where the pound is likely to hit. Additionally, keep in might which portion of the attack deals the most damage, and prioritize dodging that half.

This ability is a knockback doing moderate damage. While annoying for melee characters, this ability is unlikely to kill you if you're dodging everything else. The distance you are thrown will increase as the boss' health depletes, and its radial nature means it is almost impossible to dodge.

Finally, the boss will occasionally spawn three tornados. A number of bosses have a similar mechanic, such as the druid Airidah in Act 2. The tornados will follow the player and deal great damage, but they move very slowly and will dissipate after a set amount of time.

Trigger these tornadoes to explode by moving through them while invulnerable (such as with the Necromancer's Blood Mist) or run from them until they despawn to avoid damage and crowd control.

  • Level-synced experience points and gold
  • Scattered Prisms
  • A guaranteed Legendary Item

Out of the three World Bosses in Diablo IV , one called Wandering Death, Death Given Life might host the hardest challenge for anyone trying to find and beat the strongest opponents in the game for great rewards. A haunting specter of undead, this massive enemy sprouts from Hell at random locations in Sanctuary that might be hard to find. Dropping rare materials when defeated and challenging Wandering Death could lead to items that strengthen any character build.

A World boss like Wandering Death only appears every six hours from a random rotation , meaning you could encounter Avarice or Ashava before finding Death Given Life. Even if the chosen enemy is the undead spirit you're looking for, Wandering Death can appear in four different spots on the map . Diablo 4 's World Boss timer lets characters know 20 minutes in advance when this kind of event will occur.

There are four locations where Diablo 4 's Wandering Death might spawn, in four different regions in Sanctuary. A World Boss only shows up if you have finished the main story , providing an excellent way to reveal new areas on the map through exploration. Once you have completed every main quest in the game, Wandering Death could show up in the following:

  • Caen Adar (Scosglen)
  • Sarran Caldera (The Dry Steppes)
  • The Crucible (The Fractured Peaks)
  • Fields of Desecration (Hawezar)

Wandering Death has several Area of Effect (AoE) attacks that can kill you instantly , encouraging characters to use Evade and Potion Charges wisely throughout this fight. Teaming up with other players makes this fight much easier, as everyone can deal more damage to the World Boss while drawing its attention away. Many of this boss' attacks are easy to spot before they happen, encouraging the use of movement skills to dodge certain strikes.

Moving around the battle arena and dealing consistent damage while avoiding Wandering Death's attacks will eventually defeat the evil spirit. Shattered Prisms , or ultra-rare materials needed to give gear Gem Slots, are some of the best rewards earned from winning this fight.

Those looking to find and beat Wandering Death, Death Given Life in Diablo IV can also earn rare Unique items if they are on higher difficulty World Tiers.

How to find & beat the Wandering Death world boss in Diablo 4

Diablo 4's Wandering Death is a world boss, a massively powerful creature that requires more than a few players to take it down. Diablo 4  world bosses appear across the open world of Sanctuary, providing huge rewards to those who can defeat them in a timely fashion.

Wandering Death is one of the first world bosses you will encounter in the game after reaching World Tier 3, so here is everything you need to know to track down and defeat it in Diablo 4.

Where can you find Wandering Death in Diablo 4?

A map showing the potential spawn locations of each of the world bosses in Diablo 4

There are several locations around Sanctuary where world bosses can appear (marked in the image above). The bosses are not specific to any one region, so the Diablo 4 Wandering Death boss could appear in any of the following locations:

There are three world bosses in the game. Ashava the Pestilent , Avarice the Gold, and Wandering Death. Any of the three can appear at any of the locations, so be sure to keep an eye out.

You should receive a notification when a world boss is about to appear, telling you where to go and which boss it will be. If you don't get the notification, check your map and the five locations above to see if a world boss is about to appear.

  • Check out how to respec in Diablo 4 , so you can reset your skills to experiment with something else.

Wandering Death spawn times

Diablo 4 World bosses appear once every six hours , and when they do, they only stick around for fifteen minutes .

This means that you need to be there at the right time to defeat Wandering Death, and you have a narrow time window in which to defeat it.

If you are playing the game as a world boss is about to spawn, you will get a notification telling you Wandering Death, or one of the other two, is about to appear up to 30 minutes before it does.

For some advanced knowledge, you can follow DiabloParagon on Twitter to see which World Boss is coming up next.

So if you are on the hunt for Wandering Death, spend some time in the game until you get the notification, then head to the Fields of Desecration and prepare for a fight.

  • Stock up on Diablo 4 Crushed Beast Bone with the help of this guide.

How to beat Wandering Death

The main thing you need to win this fight is allies . Ideally, you want 10-12 people to show up for the fight . As all players nearby will be notified, you do not necessarily have to arrange a full team yourself.

If you head to the Diablo 4 Wandering Death location in time for the boss fight and find it empty, you might want to reload the game or try it another time.

an image of the Tormented Souls during the Diablo 4 Wandering Death world boss

Once you are in the fight, you need to know what it takes to damage the boss. You'll need to wait for it to spawn two Trapped Souls in cages. It will attempt to consume these, but if you destroy the Trapped Souls first, it will stagger the boss, dealing lots of damage.

  • Check out our guide if you want to know what to do with your Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols .

Wandering Death world boss attacks

The Diablo 4 Wandering Death world boss also has a number of attacks to watch out for. Much of its offense comes from sending out swirling circles of damage that move around the arena.

A gameplay screenshot of a Necromancer fighting Wandering Death in Diablo 4

You will also have to watch out for crescent-shaped bone walls that pop up. If you are caught in them for too long, they explode and do massive damage.

One of the more dramatic attacks that Wandering Death uses is its rotating beams . The boss will fire two beams out from itself, one on either side, and rotate itself. As the fight progresses, Wandering Death adds a third beam, cutting the arena into thirds.

  • Make sure you know how to upgrade healing potions in Diablo 4 for this fight.

As you can imagine from the above, the Wandering Death boss fight is primarily about movement . It has quite a few area-of-effect attacks, as well as area-denial attacks that control the space around it. You need to focus on moving, and stay on your toes and away from damage.

So long as your group is fairly consistent with doing damage to Wandering Death, while making sure to stay out of its many attacks, you shouldn't have too much trouble with it. World bosses are tough regardless, but Wandering Death is one of the easier bosses to deal with.

If you are having too much trouble with this World Boss, you can lower your World Tier at the statue in Kyovashad. This will make the fight quite a bit easier, at the cost of some experience and some loot. Otherwise, your best bet is to level up some more and return when you are more prepared.

Diablo 4 season 5 adding new endgame mode, predicting diablo 4 vessel of hatred's new spiritborn class's abilities, quick links, diablo 4 wandering death locations and spawn times, how to beat wandering death in diablo 4.

One of the new features of Diablo 4 is its world bosses, which are giant monsters that have a huge health bar and allow up to 12 players to fight them at once. One of these creatures that can appear is called the Wandering Death and seems to live up to its name while fighting it. This guide will help Diablo 4 players know where exactly the Wandering Death will spawn and how to beat it.

RELATED: Diablo 4: All Stronghold Locations in Fractured Peaks

The Wandering Death world boss can spawn in two locations and can depend on the progress made within the game. The first location is the Saraan Caldera area in the Dry Steppes zone , which is southwest of Kyovashad and west of the Nevesk waypoint. The second location it can spawn in is at the Fields of Desecration area in the Hawezar zone . This area is in the southernmost part of the map, and is south of the nearby Zarbinzet waypoint .

The boss does not have set times on when it will spawn, similar to the Ashava world boss during the beta , but the game will alert players with a notification 15 minutes before the Wandering Death is set to arrive. The notification will remain on the game's map at the location where it will appear.

Like other world bosses, the Wandering Death has a huge health bar with arrows underneath it to signify different phases of the fight. Once a section goes down, it will start to use new or different attacks. There is also a blue bar underneath the health bar that will sometimes appear when the boss is staggered after taking too much crowd control damage.

The best time to deal damage to the boss is when it is staggered and cannot attack for a few seconds. It will spawn two Trapped Souls that the Wandering Death will try to consume. Defeating both of the caged souls before that happens to deal a great amount of damage to the boss.

Otherwise, it is smart to pay attention to its attacks to avoid them while continuing to deal damage. It can shoot two lasers while slowly rotating, cause shockwaves of damage from shouting, slam the ground in front it several times with waves of spikes, spawn exploding craters and tornadoes that roam the battlefield, and shoot hooks underneath the ground just to drag them back up to the boss.

These attacks require players to pay attention, such as watching the ground change color after shooting its two hooks, or suffer great damage. It is also important to have an upgraded health potion , so players can heal faster and more frequently. Players should also be at a high level to withstand some of its attacks, and team up with other players to make the fight a lot easier.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Wandering Death in Diablo 4

Wandering Death in Diablo 4 is a gigantic skeleton-looking world boss that can spawn anywhere. Therefore, it’s pretty hard to locate this world boss. Diablo’s 4 “World of Sanctuary” features three world bosses . These world bosses including Wandering Death spawn every 6 hours at random locations. However, the game gives you an indication 30 minutes before they spawn.

However, the marker is an open invitation to all the players, no matter where they are in the sanctuary, and all of them can contribute to defeating this world boss. Once, Wandering Death spawns in Diablo 4, you have to defeat it within 15 minutes, and on doing so, you will receive various rewards, including the Scattered Prisms .

In the end, the reward distributes among all those who have taken part. Other than this, another bar, referred to as the stagger bar, fills as Crowd Control is done. As this bar fills up, the World Boss will stun for 12 seconds; keep all your excellent weapons for these 12 seconds and launch a combination of deadly attacks over the Boss.

Wandering Death location in Diablo 4

Among the three world bosses we have in Diablo 4, Wandering Death is the most gigantic one; however, this doesn’t mean that you can easily spot this from a distance.

Locating Wandering Death is the first and most challenging part of this boss fight, as the rest you can do with other players’ help. Each region in Diablo 4 has a world boss arena where any of these giant creatures can spawn. Here are all the locations where Wandering Death can spawn in Diablo 4:

  • Fractured Peaks – The Crucible
  • Scosglen – Caen Adar
  • Dry Steppes – Saraan Caldera
  • Hawezar – Fields of Desecration
  • Kehjistan – Seared Basin

wandering death

That being said, in all the fights I have had, Wandering Death has always spawned in Fields of Desecration.

How to defeat Wandering Death in Diablo 4

In Diablo 4, world Boss fights are comparatively more straightforward than in other RPGs, as you are not the only one fighting against the boss. The boss fight is a public activity, and everyone can participate. Thus, it’s not that hard when more than 10 people are playing against one boss.

Wandering Death World Boss has some crucial attacks, but most of them give you a warning indication before it happens. Thus you can escape the attack using your movement tactics. Therefore high speed is critical to surviving this boss battle.

Death Pound attack

The first attack that Wandering Death can do is Death Pounds. In this attack, he slams his arms to the ground with great force, which damages you. As the fight progresses, the damage keeps on increasing.

You can identify this attack coming forward your way when you see two big circles. Therefore, as you see them run and move to the back of Wandering Death and don’t come to the front till the attack ends in Diablo 4.

Death Shout attack

As Wandering performs this, a shock wave will run over the entire battle arena, thus damaging you and others. Unfortunately, you cannot do anything about the damage these attacks give you.

Death Tornadoes attack

As the name implies, Wandering Death cast Tornadoes running over the entire field. These tornadoes start from 2x and reach 6x by the end of the battle and making your move slower and giving you damage, but the damage is far less than other attacks.

Death Crater attack

In this attack, you will be entrapped in a wall that will soon explode, damaging you. You should therefore keep moving randomly, not following some pattern, or if you are entrapped, then break this wall as quickly as possible to come out of the bubble before it explodes and knocks you down.

Death Grasp attack

This is Wandering most dangerous attack in Diablo 4. Green figures will emerge from the ground below you, and the boss will pull you towards himself, damaging you badly. Therefore, as soon as you see these hooks coming out of the ground, simply run without thinking about anything else.

Death Beam Attack

In this attack, Wandering Death revolves around the field and emits two beams that can instantly kill most players. Therefore, dodge them, focusing on their pattern to survive. In the late stages of the fight, if you take too long to kill it, the world boss can switch this up to 3 beams.

All those players who have contributed to defeating the Wandering Death world boss within 15 minutes of its spawn time will receive rewards. These rewards include legendary items, a lot of XP, and other loot.

Among all the loot, Scattered Prisms are the coolest ones that will allow you to upgrade your weapons by adding sockets.

Diablo 4 Wandering Death World Boss Guide: Location & Rewards

wandering death

Wandering Death, Death Given Life is one of three current World Boss Event enemies in Diablo 4 . Beating this boss can yield powerful equipment & rewards, making it worth fighting. This guide will outline its known spawn locations, rewards, moveset, and strategies.

Wandering Death, Death Given Life Spawn Locations

  • The Crucible in Fractured Peaks
  • Saraan Caldera in Dry Steppes
  • Caen Adar in Scosglen
  • Fields of Desecration in Hawezar

Diablo 4 Wandering Death Rewards

  • XP scaled to your level
  • Gold scaled to your level
  • Equipment including Legendary and Unique
  • Legendary Grand Cache for the very first weekly victory against this particular World Boss

Diablo 4 Wandering Death Spawn Times

Unlike the D4 betas , there is no set spawn time for any of the World Bosses, so you will have to rely on the global announcement that appears on the map screen alerting you with a countdown to the spawning and its location. While you can currently only see that announcement for a World Boss Event after you have beaten the campaign for the first time, the event will of course still be spawning in the shared open-world of Diablo 4 for other players. This means that you can still join in on the fun if you happen to stumble upon it randomly, or if you are in a party with someone who has completed the campaign, or have knowledge of the spawn time and location from another external source.

Diablo 4 World Boss: Wandering Death Moveset

wandering death

Bone Tornado

Multiple whirlwinds of debris fall from the sky that can fling around any players caught in their swirling.

First the World Boss rips up the ground in multiple directions for quite a distance, and then draws the debris back towards it.

Vortex Pull/Push

Forcefully draws all combatants on the field right up to itself, before sending them flying backward and away from it.

A ground pound with each arm which also outwardly radiates multiple spike attacks over the surface.

Death Multi Beam

Beginning with two beams fired from its body, the World Boss rotates slowly while attacking with this high damage but easy to evade move. An additional beam is added as its HP falls.

Bone Circle

After conjuring a circle of bones, the World Boss detonates it, doing damage to both those caught within and anyone in close proximity on the outside. Break through to escape it.

How To Beat Wandering Death, Death Given Life

wandering death

Wandering Death has four breakpoints (the inverted red triangles) in its health bar. With each successive phase, the triangles turn gray and flip, plus the boss adds new attacks and increases their number as well. At some point in the first phase, it will split each of its arms in two, which also modifies some of the attack moves.

Most of the moves can be avoided by staying close to it, and on either flank, not directly behind or in front. This puts you just out of the hitbox of Earth Slam (both front and back), gives you time to get some distance from Earth Rend even when the flank variant is added, and lets you rotate along with Wandering Death during Multi Beam. Bone Tornado and Bone Circle are mid-range attacks and pose little threat at this position. Vortex Pull/Push is something you will have to tank, since there’s no escaping it at any attack range.

Staggering the boss with Crowd Control status effects gives you a brief opportunity to beat it down with impunity. One or more of the arms will appear to break off, but this is only temporary, and will be reattached when it gets back up. The real targets are the two Trapped Souls that will appear, and eliminating them will cause bonus damage to the boss itself.

And that is everything you need to know before you confront the Diablo 4 World Boss known as Wandering Death, Death Given Life. While you’re here, check out our guide on how to level up faster in  Diablo IV !

Why Do North Korean Soldiers Keep Wandering Across the World’s Most Guarded Border?

A barbed-wired fence is seen at the Imjingak Pavilion, near the demilitarized zone (DMZ) in Paju, South Korea, on July 19, 2023.

D on’t believe the name: The Demilitarized Zone between the two rival Koreas might be the most heavily armed place on earth. Two million mines, barbed wire fences, tank traps and tens of thousands of troops from both countries patrol a divided swath of land 248 kilometers (154 miles) long and 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) wide.

So how are North Korean soldiers continuing to wander over the line separating North from South, causing South Korea to fire warning shots for the third time this month?

The short answer appears to be shrubbery: Because of an overgrowth of foliage, the North Koreans may not have seen the signs marking the thin military demarcation line that divides the DMZ into northern and southern sides.

Read More: A 160-Mile Demilitarized Zone Separates North and South Korea. We Visited One of the Most Remote Parts

But it’s also just the latest entry in the long, often violent history of the unique border set up after the 1950-53 Korean War. It ended with an armistice, instead of a peace treaty, leaving the Korean Peninsula divided, and technically still in a state of war.

Here’s a look at the events surrounding the incursion:

What happened?

On Friday, South Korea’s military said it had fired warning shots the previous day to repel several North Korean soldiers who briefly crossed the military demarcation line that divides the countries while engaging in unspecified construction work.

Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the North Koreans retreated shortly after South Korean soldiers broadcast a warning and fired the shots Thursday morning, but didn’t immediately release more details.

Similar incidents took place on June 9 and June 18, each involving some 20 to 30 North Korean soldiers briefly crossing the demarcation line and retreating shortly after the South Koreans broadcast audio warnings and fired warning shots.

South Korea’s military says the incursions were likely accidents, noting that the North Koreans did not return fire and withdrew immediately.

What does the demarcation line look like?

The demarcation line, in many parts of the DMZ, is simply a sign mounted on a stick or a slice of concrete.

People have stepped across it before, under very special circumstances, and usually at the border village of Panmunjom. Former U.S. President Donald Trump walked across with Kim Jong Un. Last year an American soldier facing possible military discipline dashed over the line to the North.

Outside of Panmunjom, much of the DMZ is wilderness, but it is heavily monitored on both sides. And while the demarcation line may be easily crossed, it is very difficult to do so without being spotted immediately.

Read More: Scenes From a Dispute at the Korean Border

The southern side of the land border is protected not only by thousands of soldiers, guns and mines, but also by a dense network of cameras, motion sensors and other high-tech surveillance equipment. Breaches are very rare and are usually detected quickly. Defections from the North are also unusual along the North-South land border, though they have happened with frequency along the porous China-North Korea border and occasionally in the Yellow Sea.

The North’s accidental intrusions this month may have been caused by a sudden jump in North Korean troops fortifying their side of the border.

Because overgrown trees and plants may have been obscuring the signs marking the demarcation line, Seoul says, the North Korean troops may have stepped over the line without knowing it.

Why are so many North Koreans working in the DMZ?

Relations between the rival Koreas are worse now than in many years.

Recent weeks have seen a tit-for-tat standoff that has resulted in Cold War-style psychological warfare. Both sides have said they are no longer bound by a landmark military agreement in 2018 to reduce tensions.

The North Koreans along the border, Seoul says, have been installing what appear to be anti-tank barriers, reinforcing roads and planting land mines, even as mine explosions have killed or wounded an unspecified number of North Korean soldiers.

The construction started around April and may be an attempt to curb North Koreans trying to defect to the South, according to Seoul’s military.

Animosities may worsen as Kim continues to accelerate his nuclear weapons and missiles development and align with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the face of their separate, escalating confrontations with Washington.

Read More: Putin’s Trip to North Korea Reeks of Desperation, Not Strength

On Thursday, South Korea’s government condemned an agreement by Kim and Putin at their summit this week in which the two nations vowed to aid each other if attacked. In turn, Seoul said it will consider sending arms to Ukraine to help it fight Russia’s invasion.

Could it happen again?

Possibly, especially if the North Korean construction continues along the demarcation line.

But both sides appear intent on containing their animosities to the psychological warfare they’re engaging in.

Still, there are worries that the hostilities are pushing them closer to a direct military clash. The Koreas have had no meaningful talks for years and could find it difficult to set up dialogue as tensions rise over the North’s development of nuclear-capable weapons.

Some analysts say the Koreas’ poorly marked western sea boundary—site of skirmishes and attacks in past years—is more likely to be a crisis point than the land border.

Kim, during a fiery speech in January, reiterated that his country does not recognize the Northern Limit Line in the Yellow Sea, which was drawn up by the U.S.-led U.N. Command at the end of the war. North Korea insists on a boundary that encroaches deeply into South Korea-controlled waters.

While the huge military presence on both sides of the DMZ means that years sometimes pass without incident, violence can quickly erupt. Two American Army officers were axed to death in 1976 by North Korean soldiers, for instance.

—Kim reported from Seoul. Klug, AP’s news director for the Koreas, reported from Tokyo.

Woman who helped war effort as a ‘Rosie the Riveter’ is turning 100

BALTIMORE (Gray News) - A Baltimore woman who made her mark on American history is preparing to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Susan King graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore just months before World War II broke out.

She ended up working for Eastern Aircraft’s assembly line as a “Rosie the Riveter.”

“I was making money because I wanted to go to college and I want to save some money,” she said. “I also was hoping that the war would soon be over because I didn’t want to hear any more Americans being killed by the Germans.”

Susan King worked in an aircraft factory after she graduated from high schoo.

“Rosie the Riveter” was a cultural icon used to help recruit women to defense industry jobs because of a labor shortage.

During World War II, 6 million women worked in these jobs to support the war effort. They came to be known as ‘Rosies,” based on a popular song from 1943, “Rosie the Riveter,” about a woman building planes during the war, according to the National Park Service.

King later attended Morgan State University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

She went on to work for Baltimore City Public Schools as a teacher and guidance counselor.

A Tarnished kicks a Messmer Soldier in Shadow of the Erdtree

Weapons are the lifeblood of any Elden Ring build, and you’ll be able to find plenty more in Shadow of the Erdtree , the game’s DLC that takes place in the Shadow Realm of the Lands Between.

In this Shadow of the Erdtree guide, we’ll show you where to find all of the DLC weapons we’ve found so far.

Gravesite Plain weapons

Gravesite Plain is the first major area in the Shadow Realm of the Lands Between, and it’s where you’ll start your journey in Shadow of the Erdtree . There are multiple unique weapons to be found here, from bosses, dungeons, and exploration. Here’s what we’ve found so far.

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The Beast Claw drops for Logur , the Beast Claw, a mini-boss who hangs out in the Gravesite Plain woods.

Head east from your first site of grace and you’ll find Logur wandering around in the woods. If you get close, he’ll attack you. Take him down and you’ll earn his weapons.

Backhand Blade

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The Backhand Blade is northeast of the Scorched Ruins and southeast of the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace .

Just off the road, overlooking the river, you’ll see a small mausoleum. Walk up and into the stone pavilion and grab the sword from the pillar of light.

Greatsword of Solitude

A map showing the location of a boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In a single-room dungeon called Western Nameless Mausoleum , which is west of the Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain, you’ll face the Blackgaol Knight . Take him down and he’ll drop the Greatsword of Solitude .

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The Bone Bow is in Belurat , the castle on the west side of Gravesite Plain. Head through the dungeon until you reach the upper level, past the second site of grace .

Near where you can unlock an elevator shortcut back down to the first level, you’ll find a tower with a broken staircase. Inside this tower are two of the large scorpion spiders. Kill them and loot the body in the room to get the Bone Bow.

Great Katana

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the massive lake in the northern half of Gravesite Plain, where the Ghostflame Dragon lies, you’ll find a dead body floating in the water. Walk up to it and loot it to receive the Great Katana .

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Milady is just outside of Castle Ensis in Gravesite Plain. Across the long bridge near Belurat and then across another small bridge to Castle Ensis, defeat the giant blocking the way and push a bit deeper into the area. On your left, you’ll find a staircase that leads to a large ladder. Climb up.

When you reach the top of the tower, open the chest in front of you to get Milady.

Moonrithyll’s Knight Sword

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

As you’re making your way through Castle Ensis , you’ll find Moonrithyll , Carian Knight, guarding the true front gate. When you kill them, they’ll drop their big, magical sword, the Moonrithyll Knight Sword .

Smithscript Dagger

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Inside the Ruined Forge Lava Intake , a small dungeon to the southeast of Castle Ensis, you’ll find the Smithscript Dagger .

To reach this weapon, you’ll need to fight your way through stone giants and lava blobs until you reach the room with the massive pipe mechanism suspended in the ceiling. On the lower level of this room, tucked up against the wall, you’ll find the Smithscript Dagger on a body.

Anvil Hammer

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The Anvil Hammer comes from the Ruined Forge Lava Intake dungeon, which is southeast of Castle Ensis.

Inside, make your way to the top floor and work your way into the room with the massive pipe mechanism. Use the lever to lower the mechanism into the lava and then jump onto it. Follow the pipe all the way to the top to find the Altar, which will give you the Anvil Hammer and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Messmer Soldier Spear

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Messmer Soldiers with spears can drop their weapon for you — the Messmer Soldier Spear . You can find these enemies all over the place, often on the roads leading east from Castle Ensis .

Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the Dragon’s Pit dungeon, which is to the east of Castle Ensis, make your way through until you fight the Ancient Dragon-Man . Kill him and he’ll drop his weapon, the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana .

Death Knight’s Twin Axes

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

West of Castle Ensis, in a dungeon called Fog Rift Catacombs , you’ll encounter the Death Knight . This boss is in the third basement of the dungeon, and will drop the Death Knight’s Twin Axes when you defeat him.

Scadu Atlus weapons

Scadu Atlus is the second major region in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree . You’ll find several unique weapons in this area. Here’s what we’ve found so far.

Smithscript Spear

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the southeast part of Scadu Atlus, beneath the western lake, you’ll find a small dungeon called Ruined Forge of Starfall Past . Inside, past the site of grace, cross the first bridge. To your left you’ll find a lever. But to your right, you’ll find a corpse that’s holding the Smithscript Spear .

Smithscript Cirque

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past dungeon, which is in the southeastern part of Scadu Atlus, you’ll find the Smithscript Cirque in the final room in the dungeon.

Open up the second gate in the forge via the lever and go inside. You’ll find a dead body near a pit and two stone giants. Grab the Smithscript Cirque off the body before or after you deal with the enemies.

Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Inside the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past dungeon, which is located in the southeastern part of Scadu Atlus, you’ll find an altar hidden in one of the rooms. Clear out the dungeon and go to the second lever which lifts the second gate. Lower it to the ground and then pull the lever again to raise it. Quickly climb on the gate before it gets too high up and ride it to the second floor platform.

In the next room, interact with the altar to get the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword .

Black Steel Twinblade

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the army camp in the northern part of Scadu Atlus, you’ll find some Black Knights with a twinblade staff. When you kill them, they have a chance to drop the Black Steel Twinblade .

Messmer Soldier’s Axe

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Wherever you defeat a Messmer Soldier wielding an axe, there’s a random chance that it will drop the Messmer Soldier’s Axe for you.

You can find these soldiers all over the Shadow Realm, especially in the Shadow Keep dungeon.

Main-gauche

A map showing the location of a weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

After killing the Golden Hippopotamus in Shadow Keep, push forward and keep right. You’ll eventually find a room with some Messmer Soldiers and a Black Knight with a twinblade. Dispatch the enemies and move over to the ledge that rests above the door you came through earlier. Loot the body here to get the Main-gauche .

And Just Like That gives first glimpse of Stanford since Willie Garson's death

Here's what happened to Stanford in the Sex and the City multiverse.

wandering death

Warning: This article contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 2, episode 10, "The Last Supper Part One: Appetizer."

Sex and the City actor Willie Garson makes a posthumous appearance as Stanford Blatch on this week's episode of And Just Like That .

The character played by Garson, who died last September from pancreatic cancer , had already been referenced on season 2 in previous episodes. But Stanford appeared through a Photoshopped image given to Mario Cantone 's Anthony Marentino by Sarah Jessica Parker 's Carrie Bradshaw. Even Anthony jokes about the Photoshop job in a self-referential quip. ("Good Photoshop!")

Previously, we learned that Stanford left New York to travel Tokyo with a new client, who's a TikTok star. In episode 10, Carrie sits down with Anthony in her apartment as a favor to her bestie. She relays that Stanford has been fired by said TikTok star after getting into an argument. She went off to Berlin and he decided to stay in Japan to see Geishas in Kyoto. Wandering the city in a slump, he stumbled into a temple and decided to become — wait for it — a Shinto monk.

Anthony's reaction seems appropriate: "Get the f--- out of here!"

"Carrie, for the first time in my life, I felt peace — real peace," Stanford writes in a letter of stepping into the Japanese temple for the first time. And why, pray tell, did Stanford not tell Anthony directly? There's an answer for that, too. "I'd tell Anthony myself, but I know he'd make fun of it," the letter notes. It also mentions that Stanford's lawyers left the apartment and all his possessions to Anthony. "I have let go of all things that no longer serve me, and I let it all go with love," he writes.

"I think that's important once characters are established that, when a circumstance is handed [to] you that is tragic and less than ideal, you can still keep these fictional people alive in spite of the fact that Willie's gone," showrunner Michael Patrick King previously told PEOPLE .

Speaking in the season 1 making-of documentary special for And Just Like That , Parker said of Garson's passing, "I cannot believe I can't call him. I can't believe it. He would always tell me that he was the most popular character on the show and he was not making a joke. He was quite serious. Turned out he might've been right."
