I was on a bus tour and needed to contact the organizer about where to collect the tickets from but mistakenly called you instead of her as I was checking emails for numbers. Nevertheless we all had a lovely time. Thank you for all your help! 🙂

Stroll around Kensington Palace and enjoy an afternoon tea
Kensington Palace has played a vital role in shaping the history of Britain’s monarchy since it was built in the 1600s, so it feels right to include it on our list of top London tours for architecture lovers. The palace is a complex building in terms of architecture and has had many notable architects working on it over the years, including Wren, Hawksmoor, Vanbrugh and more. Building initially commenced at the start of the 17th century and was completed in 1899, with many members of the Royal family calling it their home in-between, always leaving their architectural mark by making changes here and there throughout their stay. The Palace houses a whopping 547 rooms, kitted out with regal furniture, paintings and rooms decorated in different styles by different monarchs over many years. A fun fact: Queen Victoria was even born in the palace.
While the Monarchy remains a controversial topic within the UK, there’s no doubt that this beautiful Jacobean mansion is a sight to behold with its Gothic style. On this Kensington Palace Gardens tour , you’ll enjoy a peaceful stroll around the manicured palace gardens, admiring the water features, Sunken Garden and flora maintained year-round. You’ll be led by a guide who will fill you in with interesting insights and the history of the royal family along the way before stopping by the Kensington Palace Pavilion for a British afternoon tea. Expect classics like egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon sandwiches and traditional scones with cream and jam, or jam and cream (it’s an ongoing British debate of which ingredient goes first. So whatever floats your boat).

See some of the city’s most interesting pubs
London’s pub history runs deep, rooted in the history and heritage of the UK, boasting an impressive array of over 3,500 establishments, some of which have welcomed drinkers since the 14th century. Unsurprisingly, London has earned a well-deserved reputation as a thriving hub for pub enthusiasts, and this Tour of London’s Historic Pubs grants you the opportunity to fully explore it alongside an expert Londoner. Follow your guide through the City of London via Fleet Street, Blackfriars and Holborn as you visit iconic pubs renowned for their drinks and atmosphere. Hear facts about the pubs as you visit each one and sample drinks along the way. Each and every pub in London tells a story through architecture, with the latter end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th being a prime time for pub architecture. Many were designed solely to lure paying punters to drink and stay for long periods of time, meaning they were built to be eye-catching, equally inside and out. So, keep your eyes peeled for the different styles of each pub you visit, whether that be an Edwardian or Victorian establishment, and be sure to pay attention to the small details. Either way, you’ll pass all kinds of buildings throughout the tour as you traverse some of London’s most popular and interesting streets.

Visit the rolling hills of the Cotswolds
There are few places as quintessentially British as the Cotswolds; think lush rolling hills, quaint cobbled streets and pockets of picturesque villages surrounded by vast pastures. It’s easy to head on a day trip to visit this slice of English countryside, and the best way to do so if you want to keep the planning to a minimum is by heading on a Cotswolds Tour from London . Hop on a comfortable air-conditioned coach and head for the rural hills, where you’ll be met with stone-built villages and a warm, old-world atmosphere. The style of architecture in the Cotswolds is often referred to as the storybook style, which is fitting since every building looks like it’s been plucked straight from a fairytale. It encompasses everything the archetypal English countryside village has been defined to be, with most of the buildings constructed in the region’s signature sandy-coloured limestone. It’s for sure one of the most picturesque and historic areas in the UK, and any trip here feels like a giant leap back in time to a bygone era. Expect to see buildings dating back to the Mediaeval Ages when the area was a hub for Wool Trading, and reminders of a Roman time, with well-preserved Roman and Romano-British villas nestled amongst the lush rolling hills. Before stopping for a traditional two-course English lunch at an old Cotswold hotel restaurant, you’ll have ample time to stroll around the towns and villages, including places like Burford, Bibury and Stow-in-the-Wold. Get your cameras ready for this one.

Learn about Brutalism at the Barbican
The Barbican is at the epicentre of Brutalist architecture, so it’s no surprise they host their own architecture tours. The 90-minute New Perspectives tour is an excellent way to get acquainted with brutalism; it’s led by an expert guide who will take you around the Barbican and surrounding Brutalist estate, over high walks, through leafy courts and to lesser-explored corners. You’ll get to learn about the vision and ambition behind the design of the buildings whilst gaining an insight into the site’s past, present and future.
New Perspectives Tour | Barbican Estate
Roam around the historic Tower of London
The Tower of London is arguably one of the most impressive historic establishments in London, so it’s only fitting to include it in our roundup of top London tours for architecture lovers. On this Tower of London tour , you’ll get to skip the crowds and enjoy early access so that you’re one of the first visitors of the day. Explore over 1,000 years of British history, listening to your Blue Badge guide (London guides that have detailed, in-depth knowledge of London’s highlights) as they tell interesting facts and stories about the tower’s fascinating and, at times, sordid happenings. Roam around this UNESCO World Heritage Site, built as a fortress on the Thames by William the Conquerer in 1066 as a way to assert his power, hearing stories along the way. The huge White Tower is a fine example of Normal Military architecture, and inside, you’ll find a beautiful 11th-century Romanesque chapel and an incredible Royal Armouries collection. The Tower of London perfectly demonstrates how royal buildings have evolved from the 11th to the 16th centuries, offering a valuable glimpse back in time and allowing us to reimagine what went on between the walls of each structure. Stroll across Tower Green, the home of many grisly executions, including two of Henry VIII’s wives, before seeing the priceless Crown Jewels. The Imperial State Crown has a whopping 2,868 diamonds. Finish the tour with a sightseeing City Cruises flexible one-way ticket to round off your London experience.

London Architecture Introduction
London is the capital of the UK. There is a wealth of architecture here – from historic churches and palaces to modern art galleries and offices. Key architects from the past are Sir Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor. More recently architects such as Foster, Rogers, Stirling, Hadid and Piano have created major buildings in London.
Significant contemporary buildings include The Shard, Lloyds Building, Swiss Re building. Key 20th Century buildings include Centre Point and New Zealand House. Older architecture of historical importance that we can visit on the walking tour include buildings such as the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.
To take in these London buildings some walking tours require transport, typically on the Tube. Major clusters of buildings exist in Westminster, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Important architecture is also scattered throughout the West End and in Kensington & Chelsea.
London Architecture Walking Tour – Standard Routes
e-architect now offer a standard range of London architecture tour routes. If these don’t suit we still offer tailored tour itineraries.
The standard London Architecture Walking Tour itineraries are:

All these buildings are possible to visit on our London Architecture Tours .
Please note the London Architectural Walking Tours are external visits except where free access is allowed. Specific requests for entry to buildings can be made ahead of an architectural walking tour.

London’s architectural history is a rich tapestry that weaves together styles of various periods and influences. In the post-war era, the city experienced a surge in modern architecture, becoming a canvas for experimentation. New stylistic movements saw their expression crystalized through buildings such as Richard Rogers ’ Lloyd’s Building , one of the most representative examples of High-Tech architecture, or the Barbican Estate , a large-scale housing estate that became the iconic structure for Brutalist architecture.
London’s contemporary architectural landscape continues to evolve, in part through the works of internationally-recognized architects such as Norman Foster, Zaha Hadid, and Thomas Heatherwick. This varied blend of styles, and ways of expression reflects the city’s ability to embrace architectural movements of global significance. As a center for innovation, London continues to attract established and emerging architects who shape its skyline and contribute to its international architectural discourse, with each new building offering a glimpse into the ever-changing nature of London’s urban fabric.
The following list showcases 30 modern, brutalist, and contemporary architecture projects highlighting the diversity of London ’s architecture scene, featuring works from internationally renowned architects such as Foster + Partners , Herzog & de Meuron , Richard Rogers , Thomas Heatherwick , and Zaha Hadid Architects .

A Walking Tour of the Best Brutalist Architecture in London
Architecture & Design Editor
Brutalism has a bit of a bad rep, but our architectural tour is here to change that – swap the conventional sights of London for some concrete beauties on your next visit. Here’s how to spend the day seeing the city in a whole new light.
1. southbank centre.
Most people take a stroll along London ‘s Southbank to visit the Tate Modern or Shakespeare’s Globe , but there’s plenty of other architectural gems along this stretch. Start at the Southbank Centre , a world-renowned destination for the arts that was erected in 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain . The site is home to several important venues, including the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery and the Queen Elizabeth Hall, all of which hold varying events such as comedy stand-ups, variety shows, musical performances, intellectual and educational programs, and festivals.
Royal Festival Hall
The Grade II-listed Royal Festival Hall auditorium is the biggest venue at Southbank Centre, seating 2,500 people. The architect of the building was Robert Matthew, supported by Leslie Martin and Peter Muro. It was designed to be a true landmark of British Modernism, with a bright-white facade and huge expanses of glass to give the building a light, optimistic feel. The flowing, wide open-plan interior was constructed around symmetrically placed staircases, with Martin in particular influenced by socialist Nordic design. The various foyers, bars and restaurants were intended to be classless spaces, open to all, honoured today by the building’s radical ‘open foyer’ policy, which allows the public to roam throughout the building seven days a week. Free exhibitions, lunchtime and evening concerts are on offer, as well as various study and meeting spaces and a variety of bars.
Hayward Gallery
The Hayward Gallery is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries. Since it opened in the summer of 1968 with an exhibition by Henri Matisse , it has played a crucial role in presenting work by some of the world’s most significant artists. It was recently closed for two years in order to restore the 66 glass pyramid roof lights, which were based on a concept by sculptor Henry Moore. The multi-million pound refurbishment was completed in January 2018, holding a major show of Andreas Gursky’s work.
Queen Elizabeth Hall
Recently renovated, Queen Elizabeth Hall has a wonderful roof garden with stunning views and is open daily in the spring and summer months and free to visit. Fun fact: you might notice an unusually placed ‘boat’ on top of Queen Elizabeth Hall. The ‘Room for London’, designed by Living Architecture is actually available to stay in on occasions.
There are plenty of food trucks along the riverbank for a low-key lunch or pre-performance bite before heading along to the National Theatre, as well as many on-site restaurants . For something a little bit special, and great views over the Thames, try Skylon , which serves up quintessentially seasonal British dishes.
2. National Theatre
Designed by the architect Denys Lasdun , the National Theatre has divided public opinion since it opened in 1976. In 2001, a Radio Times poll featured Denys Lasdun’s building in the top five of both the most hated and the most loved British buildings. A neighbour of the Southbank Centre, the theatre may seem like a large hunk of concrete on the surface, but once you discover the attention-to-detail and groundbreaking construction methods behind it, you’ll come to realise its beauty. To get a real understanding of why the National Theatre is such an important icon of Brutalism, take up one of the ‘Concrete Reality’ architecture tours .

3. The Macadam and Strand Buildings, King’s College London
Crossing Waterloo Bridge, it’s worth stopping by and gazing up at the King’s College Macadam Building, which was built by Troup, Steele & Scott with E.D. Jefferiss Mathews acting as consultant. Construction started in 1972 and took three years to complete. The building on Surrey Street houses King’s College Student Union, with its six storeys balancing on top of a two-storey podium.
Just around the corner on The Strand is the aptly-named Strand Building, which is again part of the college. The 1970s building has recently been involved in some contentious plans to knock down four adjacent period properties, in order to make way for a new teaching building that will ‘blend in’ with the Brutalist one.
4. Salters’ Hall
To get here, you could take a leisurely half-hour stroll along Fleet Street, the former home of London’s newspaper industry, passing the Royal Courts of Justice and St Paul’s Cathedral on the way before turning up Cheapside and along London Wall. Located on Fore Street, the old Salters’ Company headquarters, built by Basil Spence, is a very rare example of a post-war livery building, and was completed in 1972. Notable for its distinctive ribbed and knapped concrete, the hall is now Grade II-listed and has recently been refurbished by architect De Metz Forbes Knight, which won planning consent for the £8.5 million project.
5. Barbican Centre and Estate
Saving the best until last, you can’t miss the Grade II-listed Barbican Centre, which is Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue and one of London’s best examples of Brutalist architecture. It was developed from designs by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon as part of a utopian vision to transform an area of London left devastated by bombing during the Second World War. It took over a decade to build and was opened by the Queen in 1982, who declared it ‘one of the modern wonders of the world’.
Its stunning spaces at the heart of the Barbican Estate have made it an internationally recognised venue, set within an urban landscape acknowledged as one of the most significant architectural achievements of the 20th century. The best way to tour the Barbican Centre and surrounding estate is to book the Barbican’s 90-minute walking tour . Walking along the highwalks, elevated gardens and trio of high-rise towers, you’ll learn more about the construction, design and influence of the estate, along with surprising and rarely seen sights and discoveries plus little-known insights into this unique architectural endeavour.

Meticulously detailed London mews house unveiled by Ampuero Yutronic
Market Mews, a London mews house, is a hymn to modern minimalism, executed with precision and skill to make the most of a tight site in the heart of the capital
- Sign up to our newsletter Newsletter
Whether it’s a grand townhouse or a modest London mews house, Mayfair conceals its architectural secrets behind well-preserved historic façades – which have, today, almost all been given over to private accommodation. Market Mews is one such structure, a new-build house replacing a post-war building located in one of the cobbled backstreets that were once the working heart of what has long been London ’s most sought-after residential district.
The new façade at Ampuero Yutronic's Market Mews house
A radically overhauled London mews house
Designed by London- and Chile-based architecture and design studio Ampuero Yutronic, the radically overhauled mews house is a rich evocation of late 20th-century minimalist architecture , filtered through modern sensibilities and desires for simplicity, sustainability and ease of use. Whereas the trailblazers of architectural minimalism were ascetic at the very least and almost monastic at times, the Market Mews house is nothing if not luxurious.
Interiors are characterised by minimalism and exceptional craft
That’s not just down to the location. Intended as both a ‘calm retreat’ and a place to entertain extended family, the house is hemmed in by three surrounding properties. The north-facing mews façade is the only new external architectural expression, and the requirements of the local Conservation Area meant that a sympathetic and restrained approach was needed.
Built-in joinery defines the spaces
The façade ‘takes its cues from the historic residential typologies of central London’, the architects say, adding that it also creates a ‘distinct identity/appearance through pared-back detailing and use of materials’. A mix of large-scale reconstituted limestone panels on the ground floor and slender limestone-coloured ‘roman’-style bricks and lime mortar on the floors above gives the house a solidity and sense of history. The upper level is a more traditional mansard roof, set back behind the parapet.
The staircase at the heart of the house
Inside, the house is arranged around a series of large light wells that bring natural daylight down into the heart of the enclosed plan, which spans five storeys. Using both rooflights and high-level south-facing windows, the architects have created a dreamy interior landscape of abstract forms, minimal joinery and stonework and sculptural light fittings.
Looking up the three-storey internal lightwell
From the entrance, one becomes immediately aware of this cascading internal light feature, as illumination from the three-storey-high lightwell at the rear of the house is felt on every level. The first floor is a formal open-plan living and dining area, in common with the traditional ‘piano nobile’. Joinery is bespoke and integral to the architectural structure and flow of the house.
Market Mews by Ampuero Yutronic
Nowhere is this more evident than in the wooden staircase that winds through the heart of the house. The thick balustrades and risers are made with meticulous craftsmanship, also demonstrated by the free-standing stone bathtub in the primary bedroom suite. Exposed concrete walls are also deployed for additional texture on the basement stair, which leads down to the cinema room and a top-lit multi-use space.

‘A key objective for the client was to live in a tranquil atmosphere that feels clean, light and spacious but is also suitably robust, as required in a family home,’ say Javier Ampuero Ernst and Catalina Yutronic. ‘The predominant use of wood, stone and polished marble plaster, combined with simple detailing, contributes to the achieve an overall calmness and understated elegance.’

Inside Harris Reed’s Fantastical London Home
Released on 09/09/2024
[door opening]
Hi AD, it's Harris Reed.
And my biggest dream is literally coming true.
Welcome to my home. [bright music]
So we are in our, I call it the salon.
It's basically a living room
that also has a dining room in it.
Really the room we do everything in.
This apartment, when we saw it,
looked nothing like this whatsoever.
It used to be a part of this incredible manor block
that has been split over the years and years
into different apartments.
And when we walked in, it just had so much history
and so much potential.
And as someone who makes dresses and hats for a living,
this took my creativity,
and also my patience to a whole new level.
We worked with my godfather, who owns Four Corners.
And then for the interior design,
we worked with Clementine Studios.
I came with so many ideas.
My husband came with so many ideas.
So it was a really collaborative process
and very, very hands-on.
All the walls are hand-embroidered
with the amazing company Fromental.
And then it lent itself into a really wacky art.
All the art in this room is from Chilean artists,
'cause my husband's Chilean.
So for me, it was really important
to bring a bit of his home into here.
It's also a beautiful way of bringing in color to the space.
We have an insane ceiling above us.
And the story with the ceiling, growing up in Arizona,
I remember I used to always just stare at the ceiling,
dreaming of a better place.
And so, every time I ever create, I always look up.
So I always knew when we bought our first place,
I wanted a really crazy ceiling
to really symbolize hope and creativity.
These insane wall lights are about two and a half meters
by two meters.
They're vintage, 1950s Italian wall sconces
that were from an old cinema in Paris.
My wonderful husband told me, he's like,
Babe, where are these gonna go?
And this is gonna eat up the whole room.
And you know what? They're fabulous!
They can just, you can see through.
The key thing with this house is just having a safe,
queer, fun place.
And England is very gray.
So things like these objects make me really, really happy.
Fireplace. This is my number one thing.
The whole room is based around this.
It's from Renaissance London.
I always have this vision of me having martinis
with a fabulous fireplace.
We put plants in front of it
because I don't know how you turn it on,
so right now, it's kind of a garden.
This for me was my dream sofa,
an original Mario Bellini B&B Italia sofa.
This is kind of my baby and my angel.
And even though I'm crawling on it,
I don't really let anyone sit on it right now,
but it's so nice.
And as someone who knows what I do, I love velvet.
It's like, it's just delicious.
It's just so yummy and it's so fabulous.
[upbeat music]
So we're gonna go into the hallway.
Fun fact is why the house I think sat for about a year
with no one buying it, because you have this.
This is the main staircase of the building.
And it was actually quite an eyesore before,
'cause it was just like this really stark white, very low.
And I mean I still now have to duck, which is hysterical,
because everyone's like,
You bought a house that you literally have to duck
Regina at Studio Clementine knocked it outta the park.
We had Loughran Riley do this insane branches
covered in roses that kind of completely climbs the space
and climbs onto this wall.
We've also put all of our wedding pictures and photos
that hold meaning to us on this wall.
We sleep in here.
And every morning I wake up,
the first thing I see is this hallway and all these photos
and it just brings so much love.
And then I have these insane Martin Brudnizki
And Objects lights.
I'm obsessed with lighting.
This was a very dark hallway,
so just adding these completely changed the space.
So this is the smallest room in the house,
but I just was obsessed with having this Oscar Wilde
kind of like gentleman parlors bathroom.
And so we worked with Fromental and C.P. Hart
to kind of create this little magical Harry Potter,
it's literally under the staircase space.
Obviously if you're hanging out in here,
you're using the bathroom.
But I think it's quite fun.
And who doesn't want to use the bathroom and be like,
Oh, I'm in a sexy gentleman's bar.
[bright music]
So we are in our main bedroom,
slash the only bedroom in the house.
As someone who travels a lot for work
and is always on the run,
I wanted to kind of come back into
what felt like a little cocoon.
So we worked with Fromental on this insane
hand-painted wallpaper.
What's really lovely about it
is it's like this fabulous nature scape
with these burnt oranges and fuchsias in it.
And they were really amazing about customizing it.
So they put these like hand-embroidered swallows on the wall
and they took the stencil from my husband's tattoo
and they embroidered it.
So he's always here.
And if he's not here, and then my husband always calls me
like a little bumblebee and a butterfly.
So they put these little tufted bumblebees that you see
kind of scattered throughout all the wallpaper.
And obviously we have the world's craziest chandelier.
It's by Bottega Veneziana.
I believe it was much bigger than this.
So they scaled the whole thing,
hand blew the entire thing in Murano,
and a lovely contractor, Scott,
was able to put the whole thing up
and at night the light just dances across the whole room
and you feel like you're just kind of in this trippy forest.
Before I open this door,
this was what all my friends and family laughed about
when I showed them the apartment.
They're like, It's almost too good to be true!
And then I showed them the closet,
and basically all of our clothes, everything I own,
and my husband owns, are on these two racks.
It's definitely been a bit of a challenge
as someone who's a fashion designer.
In a lot of videos, you watch people are like, they're like,
The best thing about my marriage
is like a his-and-hers closet, or a his-and-his closet.
And that's the only way to have a perfect marriage.
I think that's not true.
I think if you have this pole right here,
this is the key to a perfect marriage,
because with this stick, I can put up all of his suits,
all of his clothes, all of my clothes.
And whenever anyone has these gorgeous immaculate closets,
I'm like, Babe, who lives like that?
It's all jammed in and we all wear it.
And then you see me climb up a little ladder
with my really big pole,
and I try and grab and put new things away.
So it's good, because it pushes me
to kind of have to think my weeks through.
We make it work for us. [bright music]
This is our crazy French parlor meets Wes Anderson,
but also very English bathroom.
Having a bath felt like my biggest luxury.
And we customized it by making the marble top for it.
When I'm in the bath, I'm drinking sparkling water,
I'm reading, I'm covering the whole bathroom in candles.
So I needed a surface to place things on.
We did antique mirror for all the walls,
which this actually, anyone who has a smaller apartment,
mirroring anything really changes the whole space.
It meant that we didn't have to clean it after showering
'cause you had all the spots kind of on top of it.
We have a original Faye Wei Wei painting.
I've been obsessed with Faye Wei Wei since uni.
I framed it in an Ikea frame myself.
And what I was really proud of myself for
is I took the wallpaper from the room
and I actually stuck it behind.
So when you look at it, it gives this fun effect,
like it's built into the wall.
We did these fabulous velvet curtains
that wrap the whole space.
And when you're in here at night,
it's literally like you're cocooned away from the world.
So if my fabulous husband is running up and down
the hallways on a loud call,
I have my own little sanctuary.
This is my husband, Eitan, who I'm,
Nice to meet you. Finding in the kitchen.
[Eitan] This is our lovely little -
[Harris] Look at him. He's on this.
[Eitan] Cozy kitchen.
The coffee machine that he had to get.
And the fun fact about your coffee machine
is no one knows how to use it besides him.
And if you ever come over and want a coffee,
I can't help you.
It's one of those things that it's not easy to use,
but I love how not easy to use it is.
It was in our vows, actually.
It was in our vows.
Eitan makes me a coffee every morning,
which makes me sound like a diva.
But he has Sundays off.
We haven't talked about the most important elements
of the whole kitchen.
My water tap? Yeah.
Before we knew the place we were gonna get,
we knew we had to have one of these.
Because of Kendall Jenner's Architectural Digest
Open Door video.
And the way she talked about her pot filler, I was like,
I need a pot filler. Yeah.
What am I filling with this pot filler? Nothing.
But no, that's a lie.
I fill up all, I use it all the time for floral arrangements
but I don't use it very much for cooking.
We kept all the original cabinets
and they're all stainless steel
and this had this huge bank of massive cabinets
that really took up the whole space.
So the first thing that we did is we ripped all of it out
and did these kind of fun floating shelves
that visually looked really beautiful.
I think it turned out great.
And we have a lot of like knickknacks,
like from our travels and from friends.
We have like a bit from a train that was signed
by Wes Anderson,
'cause he designed one of the Belmond trains.
[Eitan] Yeah.
[Harris] That we went on a date on.
It's a painting of Harris's dad.
Yeah, my dad just watching me as I'm washing dishes
and just like eyes of disappointment.
Just kidding.
It is kind of hysterical that it's right at my eyes
as we're doing everything.
It's funny, I think everybody always ends up
in the kitchen and to have such a kind of hallway kitchen,
you still end up spending more time here
than maybe our living room.
It's great 'cause you kind of have friends on every side
that you're literally passing coffees, cocktails,
everything to,
and then I usually just sit in my And Objects
Martin Brudnizki chair and ponder life.
Come with us to the last room of the house,
which is all glass doors.
Our library, study, office, TV room, media room.
It's everything.
All my clothes are literally stored underneath the sofa
because there's no storage room.
Probably where you find us the most
besides the garden at the moment.
I think we binge watch all of our favorite shows on this TV.
It's a frame TV, yeah.
This room is also one of those things
that when we got the place,
we're like had no idea what we were gonna do.
Because there's two entry points.
Like this is the only way into the back garden,
and then behind you are the glass doors.
So it's hard to be a guest room.
It's hard to be TV room. There's a lot of natural light.
So finding ways of like curtaining off this entire wall.
It was just about creating a space that could be like,
[Eitan] It's flexible. Totally.
And super functional.
We put like - The pullout desk.
Here, so you can have a desk if we need it,
which I haven't used once.
My favorite art piece in the room is probably, okay,
it's not really an art piece, it's my favorite thing I own.
It's this signed picture from Britney Spears.
Peak Oops, I Did It Again. Signed to me.
This is if there's a fire, besides my fabulous husband,
this is what I'm grabbing to take with me.
And I think a running theme,
especially in this room, is the outdoors inside.
Like all the wallpaper from Fromental
was meant to kind of look like a stormy sky,
which is perfect for London.
And then we had these funky lights
that Porta Romana did, again,
bringing in the outside kind of indoors.
Outside, we had this tiny little deck
that you could barely squeeze onto.
And we extended it out,
so now you have all this amazing light
and you can see my favorite thing,
which is my big palm tree.
This really for me sold me on the house
because who gets to have a palm tree in London?
This garden did not look like this at all
when we got the place.
It was a complete swamp.
Before you had mosquitoes everywhere,
you had tons of poisonous bushes.
And Lisa Collins, who did the garden design, killed it.
And she really helped define all these spaces.
I was pumped 'cause I finally got to have a fountain.
The sound it makes is just really magical.
We spend all of our time here.
This table is full of friends at all times.
We have really wonderful furniture. Eichholtz killed it.
But when it came to the lighting of the garden,
I had no idea how much it cost
to actually put electrical into a garden.
And so all the lights are all solar
and they're all from Amazon.
At night, this entire garden illuminates.
And all my neighbors were literally were asking me like,
Who's your outdoor lighting designer?
And it's literally was just me,
obsessively shopping on my phone.
But it's really made it so magical.
And what I love about it is if I get tired of one design,
I just replace and move things around.
So at the back of the garden, this for me,
is probably one of my happiest spaces and most proud spaces.
We have our little blow up hot tub.
It's not wood, but this was a dream of mine.
Shout out to Amazon.
It literally was like, I think we can have a hot tub.
It arrived and this is where you find me every night.
I get off the Eurostar, I kick off my platform boots,
I run back here.
I pretend like I'm eating figs off my tree.
They're not ripe yet. I wish they were ripe.
My husband had so much to do with the garden
because he wanted everything
to kind of be a bit more minimal.
So all the furniture back here is from Eichholtz.
For this space,
I knew I wanted like a really wonderful sectional
and I wanted something that was really cozy and really easy,
and I have friends from all walks of life
that we just come back here and we talk the night away.
And even the couple days it's been raining,
we're still out here literally holding little umbrellas
and having deep conversations
and drinking way too many martinis.
This is my shower.
This is the biggest running joke with my contractor Scott,
because it arrived.
He was like, I think you made a mistake.
You just bought an outdoor shower.
And he was like, No, we don't do this in England.
You don't have a shower.
And I was like, Yes, we do.
And so actually, funny enough,
I haven't used the indoor shower in the past month.
I've just been showering out here.
I like, again, big bath person,
so I take all my baths in there.
But this is my shower. This is my ride or die.
This is my life. The shower.
My husband and my outdoor shower and my rod for my closet.
Those are my babies. [bright music]
Thank you for coming to our home,
and literally making this queer kid's dream come true.
I need to now go make a bunch of food for my friends
and learn how to cook, so I'll see you guys later.
