QCamel is the world’s only certified organic camel dairy producing and manufacturing high quality milk, feta and skincare products but the real highlight is its ‘Camel Cuddle’ experience which takes place every Saturday. When the farm gates open, QCamel’s furry family welcome visitors and put their quirky personalities on show.

Enjoy a snuggle while taking in the sweeping views to the western horizon over the nearby Glass House Mountains , which provide the ultimate backdrop to this heart-warming meeting.

While a highlight of the QCamel farm experience might be their camel cuddles, the fun doesn’t stop there. After a cuddle, enjoy morning tea while gleaning insights into the farm’s dairy operations and sample the variety of camel milk products on offer.

Once you get over the hump of tasting camel milk, you’ll never look back. Camel milk’s tasting notes are evenly balanced with a slight saltiness and a refreshing, sweet aftertaste. Not only is it a fabulous alternative if you’ve got dairy intolerances, it’s also super nutritious and is beloved for its gut-healing properties – a win-win.

Discover the wonders on offer at QCamel Dairy, the world’s only certified organic camel dairy, where the nutritious milk is used to produce cheese, yoghurt, chocolates, freeze-dried powder and skincare.

Every Saturday morning Camel Cuddles Farm Gate Tours are offered. You’ll learn that camels are deeply emotional animals with a strong family structure. The fact that information is taught from generation to generation is just one of the things that make them so special. After milking, they spend their time sunbathing, eating, sleeping and playing before heading back in for dinner and a quiet night in.

During the tour you will taste delicious products, get cuddles and kisses with the newborn calves, and enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the Glasshouse Mountains. A beautiful day out for people of all ages and an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Getting there

This experience is held on Kabi Kabi (Gubi Gubi) and Jinibara Country. The QCamel Farm is 10 minutes from Beerwah and 1 hour north of Brisbane. The address is provided on booking for biosecurity reasons.

AU $35 for Adults, AU $20 for children and seniors, and AU $110 for a family (2 adults and up to 3 children). Children under 3 and People with Companion Cards are free.

Del, our loving cameleer, brings 25 years of expertise rooted in a deep-seated love for these magnificent creatures. Her journey began with a  transformative ride on Harold Canard’s camels in Silverton, NSW. Since then, Del has dedicated herself to educating camel owners through specialized training schools, ensuring the well-being of these gentle giants. In addition, Del operates a sanctuary for rescue camels where she continues to work with Harold to rehabilitate these beautiful creatures.

Leading our camel team is Michael (Mick), a seasoned veteran in the camel industry with 14 years of experience in conducting camel tours and training camels. His wealth of knowledge and passion for sharing the beauty of camel experiences make him an invaluable asset to our team.

This interesting variety of colours stands out in contrast against their gold saddle blankets with black saddles and halters. Through the camera lens, especially at Sunset they are extremely photogenic.

We meet on the 4WD access beach.

Walk past sunset bar onto the beach, turn right, walk past the rocks, then continue walking 300 meters up the beach until you see the yellow truck. We are the 3rd set of camels and we are dressed in YELLOW.

As part of our commitment and compliance to safe work practices, our policy is to give careful safety instructions to all patrons prior to commencement of our tour.  For example you will be shown the correct manner of mounting and dismounting the camel prior to being seated – we have people to assist you. Our ramp not only makes it easier for you to climb onboard, it is also easier for the camels. 

Why is there a weight limit of 90kgs per person?

Camels, whilst powerful animals, work most days on the beach.  As part of our commitment to the ongoing optimal health and safety of our animals we have introduced the weight limit of 90kg per person.  This limit is well within their lifting capacity, thus keeping their backs strain free, comfortable and happy; as a result we are very strict on this weight limit and we thank you in advance for your appreciation of our caring for our animals.

What time do i meet for my tour?

Ride times vary with the changing seasons. You will see the times when you make your booking. The time on the booking is the time you need to meet us. The camel ride will begin approximately 15 minutes later.

can my child sit in my lap?

Yes, small children under 15kg will be seated in the lap of a parent or known adult.

What Should I Wear?

Please wear comfortable loose clothing for your camel ride. It is recommended that you DO NOT WEAR tight shorts, tight pants or short skirts. Any footwear you can comfortably wear on the beach will be suitable for the camel ride. Sandals, thongs, boots, and sneakers are all ok. Whatever is comfortable for you.

Camel Farm Guided Tour with Tasting - 1 Hour

Head to the beautiful Summer Land Camel Farm located just an hours drive from Brisbane City. This exciting tour kicks off with a behind the scenes visit to the facilities and dairy, where you’ll discover the farm's famous Camel Milk, and learn all about its powerful immune proteins and anti-aging ingredients. Next, head outside and meet the friendly camels themselves. You’ll be provided with a feeding bag for the camels so you can truly get up close and personal to your new furry friends. Conclude your tour with a tasting of the delicious Camel Milk produce and discover how the milk is processed into award-winning cheeses and gelato. Visit the Homestead cafe onsite for a meal afterwards if you like and try out the iconic Camelcino!

• 45-60 minute guided tour through the restricted access facilities and dairy
• Camel Milk tasting
• All camel products are available to purchase at the Farm Shop
• This is a guided tour that takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes
• Please arrive and check in at the Farm Shop 15 minutes prior to your booked time
• This experience is located near Harrisville in the beautiful Scenic Rim, QLD
• This experience takes place at Summer Land Camels, 8 Charles Chauvel Drive, Harrisville, Qld 4307.
• Less than an hour from Brisbane the Gold Coast or Toowoomba.
• Please note that there is no public transport, Taxi or Ride Share service available in and around Harrisville.
• The provider reserves the right to cancel experiences for any reason, including but not limited to weather conditions, safety and security.
• Dress Code:
• Participants must wear appropriate clothing, gear and footwear in line with safety standards at all times. Participants are recommended to wear long pants and dress for cool weather during winter months.
• Accessibility:
• The farm is suitable for wheelchairs with some assistance. The car park is level with all farm and lower cafe areas, with a lift available for access to the interior of the cafe. There is a disabled toilet available. Service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.

Great camel farm tour, even better camel milk products.

My family and I loved our afternoon with the camels. During the tour one of the camels came right up to us and my kids had a blast petting and kissing the camel! The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable as well and we learned a lot. The camel milk products were amazing, my kids loved the milk so much we bought a carton for home. The cafe food was also yummy, especially the camel feta and tomato toastie. I would recommend checking the weather before booking however because it was a very hot day when we were there which made it less enjoyable, of course at no fault to the farm. Also it is a bit of a drive to get to, but totally worth it!
