Dudhsagar Falls of Goa is a majestic waterfall where the white water gushing through the steep and vertical face of the mountain portrays a cascading effect. Standing as tall as 310 metres, it makes sure to stand in the list of tallest waterfalls in India. The cascading effect of this waterfall gives rise to the illusion of a milky white sea falling from such a great height. This is how the Falls acquired its name – Dudhsagar Falls. The four-tiered waterfall marks its presence along the Mandovi River in the Sanguem taluka (Goa). The main river of Goa – Mandovi, originating from the Deccan Plateau winds its way through the twists and turns of the Western Ghats. As soon as the river plummets through the hilly cover lying along the borders of Karnataka and Goa, it transforms into Dudhsagar Falls. The moment the water gushing out from the Falls flow towards its feet, it forms a green pool at its base. It is from here that the water of the Dudhsagar Falls starts flowing westwards to join and be a part of the mighty Arabian Sea. The entire landmark in the backdrop of the falls is covered with a vastly stretched forest cover. This is how the Dudhsagar Falls form a part of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. Embark the wildlife researching skills within you as there this sanctuary shelters a plethora of wildlife. In the past few years, the popularity of the Dudhsagar Falls has increased ten-fold as one of the most preferred weekend getaways from each of the cities of Bangalore, Mumbai, and Pune. If you’ve got a big group or a family, you surely must check-in the Dudhsagar Falls for a short family outing.

It is believed that she was both a princess and a noted scholar, who became a Christian at around the age of 14 and also converted hundreds of people to Christianity, and was martyred around the age of 18. Catherine was known to be a spiritual pathfinder and raise her voice against the oppression of the Christians under the rule of Roman emperor Maxentius. She was so strong and logical with her arguments that the king himself was incapable of countering them and has a then he formed a committee of 50 philosophers to debate her ideas. However, even the assembly conceded defeat in front of her and confessed Christianity as their belief. Out of anger, the king burnt the philosophers alive and sentenced st.catherine to prison. Catherine did not give up, and she was succeeded in converting not only the jailers but also the king's wife. It is believed that she showed the path of Christianity to 200 people. Even when she was facing the worse condition of her life, she continued to stretch the word of Jesus. She was honoured with the title of"patroness of the wheel-wrights" because it is believed then when she was fastened to a spiked wheel as it was mentioned in her death sentence the wheel broke and she was left uninjured. And when she was finally beheaded, it is said that angle took her remains and laid them to rest atop Mount Sinai. When you visit the Se Cathedral, you can witness the Saint Catherine ornaments, a crown portraying her royal birth and has a book in her hands, which signifies her sound knowledge as she points a spiked wheel, which reveals her martyrdom.Se Cathedral HistoryThe Cathedral is devoted to St. Catherine of Alexandria, it is said that it was built to celebrate the victory of the Portuguese ruler Alfonso Albuquerque who destroyed the Muslim army and took ownership of the city of Goa. Consequently, it is also called St. Catherine's' Cathedral. In 1953, the Cathedral was presented with "The Golden Rose" by Venerable Pope Pius XII. It is a gold ornament, which the Popes of the Catholic Church have traditionally favoured and given as a symbol of devotion or affection. You can witness it as it is placed on the tomb of St. Francis Xavier. It was approved by Governor George Cabral to be spread in 1552 on the remains of an earlier structure. The formation of the church began in 1562. The church was completed in 1619 and was consecrated in 1640. It is a perfect place to experience a blend of peace and tranquillity. You will be filled with positivity when you will visit this sacred place. The architecture of Se Cathedral The architecture of Se Cathedral is awe-inspiring and elegant. The architectural style is a blend of Gothic elements and typical Portuguese style, or you can say that the architecture style of the Se Cathedral is Portuguese-Manueline. There were two different techniques that were opted to make the church. The exterior was made in Tuscan style and the interior has been built in and Corinthian style. With dimensions of 250 feet long and 181 feet wide, this church has a delightfully decorated entrance that measures around 115 feet in height. The church is amazingly decorated, yet the style is intriguing and simple. The Cathedral has been built on an elevated base of laterite, which is covered with the thick lime plaster. You can also see the bell tower which is located on the southern side of the façade. The building of the church is rectangular on the plan but has a cruciform layout in the interior. The main altar is devoted to Catherine of Alexandria, and you can also see several old paintings on either side of it. You can also see the Chapel, which is known as the Cross of Miracles, it is believed that there was an image of Christ that was said to have appeared in 1619.

Top sights & attractions for cruises to goa (mormugao).
The state capital Panaji has no shortage of things to see, whether you’re touring Old Goa’s historic churches and ruins or exploring the Latin Quarter. The Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church sparkles, painted all white, and it’s known as the crown of the capital. Art gallery hopping is popular here, too, like the Mario Gallery and the barn-red People’s Art Gallery and Cafe.
Basilica of Bom Jesus
The Basilica of Bom Jesus is arguably one of Goa’s most iconic structures found just outside of the capital city of Panaji. St. Francis Xavier is buried here, and the Baroque-style architecture immediately captures you as you pass the church on the street. It’s a must-visit place for history buffs and those who want to learn more about this magnificent site and its past.
Sé Cathedral
Another must-see religious site in Goa is Sé Cathedral, which is the largest cathedral in all of Asia. The ruins provide a calming effect when you visit, and it’s close to the Basilica of Bom Jesus if you decide to make a day of hopping between Goa’s historic sights. The minimalism of the white stone exterior provides a stark contrast with Goa’s flashier attractions, but the interior offers a massive gilded altar. Head here for a meditative, quiet afternoon.
Goa Chitra Museum
Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the area’s villages, agrarian society, and history is on display at the Goa Chitra Museum, where thousands of artifacts take you back thousands of years. You’ll see how residents living in the area finished everyday tasks long before fancy tools and advanced technology were available.

Culture & History of the Goa (Mormugao) Cruise Port
The state of Goa is located on the west coast of India. It’s primarily known to those living in India as a tourism destination because of its beaches, sunshine, and the region’s many UNESCO World Heritage sites, which attract thousands of visitors each year. As a result, Goa is expertly prepared for guests, whether you’re shopping at the local markets, touring its historic sites, or opting for Goa cruise packages. The Portuguese ruled the area of Goa for nearly 500 years, until India achieved independence in the mid-20th century. Even then, the Portuguese remained in Goa until 1961. Portuguese influence is greatly seen in the culture, architecture, and overall vibe that Goa presents to the world. With a Goa cruise booking, you’ll experience the melting pot of Portuguese and Indian culture as soon as you step off the cruise ship.
Goa (Mormugao) Port Facilities & Location
The Goa cruise port is called Mormugao port, and it’s about an hour’s drive from the port to the heart of Goa. Taxis are generally available at the gate of Mormugao port, and bargaining with your driver is recommended. A Goa cruise booking that includes a shore excursion with Celebrity is the most seamless way to see as much of Goa as you can during your stop.
Transportation in Goa (Mormugao)
After arriving in the Mormugao Port, you can rent a personal driver to take you into Goa. This is one of the main ways tourists get around. You’ll see tuk-tuks and taxis buzzing around Goa, which are also available for rent. Ride-sharing like Uber isn’t allowed in Goa to encourage the traditional taxi industry, which is huge here. Locals commonly take the ferry to different parts of the city, and they’re free for pedestrians.
Shopping Near the Goa (Mormugao) Cruise Port
Goa cruise packages provide a few opportunities for local shopping. The majority of shopping at the Mormugao Port is going to be kiosks and small items sold by local vendors, including souvenirs, fabrics, keepsakes, and more. Flea markets in Goa are some of the best in the region, perfect not only for people watching but also taking home authentic Goan souvenirs, local produce, and more.
Local Currency & Tipping Customs
During your time in India, you’ll use the rupee as India’s official currency. Keeping rupees in your pocket instead of relying on credit cards is recommended. Credit cards aren’t widely accepted in Goa, and cash is preferred for most transactions. When you head to open-air markets, haggling and bargaining is encouraged. Tipping isn’t the norm in India, but since Goa is a holiday and resort town, maybe people working there rely on tips. 10% of a bill in a restaurant or for a tour guide is recommended, and if you rent a taxi for multiple stops or a day-long tour, tipping your driver 10% is customary.

Celebrity Millennium Itineraries
Celebrity millennium review, review of celebrity millennium.
The 2000-built Celebrity Millennium cruise ship is the first of the Millennium-class Celebrity liners, with sisterships Constellation , Infinity , Summit . Celebrity Cruises Millennium ship was scheduled for "Celebrity Revolution" drydock refurbishment starting on February 9, 2019.
The vessel (IMO number 9189419) is currently Malta- flagged (MMSI 249055000) and registered in Valletta .
History - construction and ownership
Celebrity Cruises was founded in 1988 as the Greece-based Chandris Line (cruise shipping operations between 1974-1996). In 1997, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) merged with "Celebrity Cruises Ltd" to become "Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd" (RCCL). The "X" on ship funnels is the Greek letter chi (standing for "Chandris"). Common features of Celebrity Cruises ships include aft located glass-walled dining rooms, signature alternate dining venues, bars and lounges, spacious Atrium lobby areas, a large number of balcony staterooms, large sundecks with swimming pools, The Retreat (adults-only sundeck with full-size swimming pool, Jacuzzi, cabanas, poolside full bar service). Rooftop Terrace (top-deck outdoor lounge-restaurant-cinema), large Spa (with Thermal Suites), premium retail shops selling top-brand merchandise.
The 2200-passenger ship Celebrity Millennium became the first-in-class flagship for Celebrity Cruises, with a new gas propulsion technology and exterior elevators. Nowadays, the vessel benefits from a series of upgrades, created to make the older Millennium-class ships up to par with the new technologies and the modern Solstice-class ships. New cabins (plus AquaSpa accommodations), interesting dining venues, a new modern coffee shop, bars, and an Internet Center create the feeling that the intimate experience is above all. The Millennium boasts a tortoise-shell onyx stairway in the middle and stunning space in the Cosmos Lounge with wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows. The ship is quite impressive, with 14 elevators and a design that makes people forget what they are looking for. Big outside deck space helps in this regard.
Decks and Cabins
Celebrity Millennium staterooms (1079 total, in 28 grades) include 50x Suites, 573x Balconies, 244x Oceanviews, 212x Inside cabins. Most staterooms are sized 170 ft2 / 16 m2. Around 60% of all passenger accommodations have a private step-out balcony. Most cabin balconies are sized 40 ft2 / 4 m2. Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 26. The largest are the Penthouse Suites (1430 ft2 / 133 m2 with wraparound terrace sized 1100 ft2 / 102 m2).
The boat has 12 passenger decks , of which 8 are with cabins.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
The Metropolitan Restaurant is Celebrity Millennium's main dining room. It offers formal breakfast, brunch on one of the sea days, lunch on select days, and dinner. The entire back wall of the Metropolitan is glass. The decor is a mix of contemporary and Art Deco and makes the restaurant lovely and elegant, thus setting the stage for an equally elegant dining experience. Even though it's a large space, the Metropolitan has been designed in a way that makes it quiet and guests can enjoy a conversation. The Oceanview Cafe is ship's buffet restaurant, situated aft on the pool deck. Tea, coffee, and juices are available 24 hours a day. Food is served from 6:30 am to 1 am.
Follows the complete list of Celebrity Millennium restaurants and food bars.

In the evenings, guests sing karaoke and dance on the center wood floor until the wee hours. The Martini Bar and Crush, with juggling bartenders and ice-topped bar, make great pre-dinner cocktails. The 3-deck Celebrity Theater feels like a real theater with comfortable banquette seating in red and purple hues, double balcony and nonobstructed views. Most of the shows are the typical cruise fare with "The Celebrity Singers and Dancers" and a live orchestra. Guest entertainers also perform. The forward-facing lounge Cosmos, at the top of the ship, is on three sides surrounded with floor-to-ceiling windows. During the day it's used as an observation station and for activities. At night, it's turned into a disco.

Celebrity Millennium Wiki
Celebrity Cruises Millennium ship is one of the company's Millennium-class liners, with sisterships Constellation , Infinity , Summit . Originally named "GTS Millennium", this is the first vessel in this series, with inaugural cruise/maiden voyage on June 17, 2000. The propulsion system COGAS (combined "gas and steam turbines" power plant) was installed for the first time on Millennium. Another interesting ship fact is that some of the wooden panels used in the MDR restaurant are originals from RMS Titanic 's sister - the ocean liner RMS Olympic. Panels were removed in 1935 when the Olympic ship was scrapped.
The Millennium cruise ship was extensively refurbished ("Solsticized") in May 2012. During that 3-week dry-dock, the ship was renewed with AquaSpa cabins, the AquaSpa signature "Blu" restaurant, its "Celebrity Suites" were upgraded with balconies.
Celebrity Millennium ex-St Maarten cruises 2021 summer
Following the Coronavirus crisis, in June-August 2021, for the first time, Celebrity homeported a ship (Millennium) in Philipsburg (St Maarten Island, Dutch Antilles). The Caribbean mini-season included 7-night roundtrips from Philipsburg divided into two different itineraries.
7-day "Aruba, Curacao and Barbados" itinerary
Prices started from USD 1700 per person with double occupancy.
7-day "BVI, St. Lucia and Barbados" itinerary
Prices started from USD 1600 pp.

All cabins were upgraded with "Celebrity eXhale" bedding (cashmere mattresses), electronic locks (RFID technology), Xcelerate (fast Internet), Bluetooth capabilities.
- The completely redesigned Qsine Restaurant was added. It offers "Le Petit Chef" (virtual dining-entertainment experience) created by Skullmapping and presented by TableMation Studios - exclusively for Celebrity Cruises.
- Main Dining Rooms, Oceanview Cafe (buffet restaurant) and Sunset Bar were redesigned and upgraded with new textures and finishes.
- The SPA was upgraded with an expanded SEA Thermal Suite.

Celebrity Millennium refurbishment 2016 review

- On Plaza deck 3, “The Olympic” restaurant was replaced by “Tuscan Grille” (steakhouse restaurant). Also on Plaza deck 3 a new office for “Future Cruise Sales” was built (separate from the Captain’s Club) and a new portrait studio was added. Among the changes were also upgraded bathrooms (marble surfaces, comfortable seats, new lighting system), new carpeting, new drapes, new bed linens.
Renovations were done to the Casino area (on Promenaded deck 4) and to the adults-only complex “Solarium” (on Lido deck 10). Both areas received new furniture and flooring. Also on the Lido deck, the pool area and the Spa Cafe were renovated. The Casino’s theme decoration was removed.

Goa (Mormugao), India
The former Portuguese enclave of Goa is one of India's gems, with attractions that include the magnificent Portuguese cathedrals of Old Goa, palm-fringed beaches and some of the best seafood in India. Over the centuries, Goa became well known as a great source for spices and an important link in the Arabian trade routes. Roman Catholicism remains a major religion in Goa, and skirts far outnumber saris. The atmosphere is easygoing and the people are very friendly. In the oldest part of the town, the Portuguese heritage has survived remarkably well; there are narrow, winding streets, old houses with overhanging balconies and red-tiled roofs, whitewashed churches and numerous small bars and cafés -- an atmosphere more reminiscent of the Mediterranean than of India. Visit the many Renaissance monuments like the Cathedral, the Basilica Bom Jesu, and the convent of St. Francis, a converted mosque.

Tourist Visa for India
By Viveash , October 29, 2019 in Celebrity Cruises
Recommended Posts
I live in Perth and am visiting Cochin, Goa and Mumbai on the Celebrity Constellation cruise ex Singapore on 17 January 2020 and am having extreme difficulty in completing the VFS Global online Tourist Visa application form, for India. The Indian Consulate does not handle visa applications.
All was going fine until I came to a section called Reference. It asks for the name, address and phone number of a reference in India. Well clearly as an Australian who is only seeking a Tourist visa to allow short shore excursions in each on these places, I do not have a reference in India.
However the online form will not allow me to continue with the application until I complete the Reference requested information.
I have tried unsuccessfully to phone VSF on the Melbourne phone number shown online, but on every occasion the calls do not go through.
My travel agent has sent an email to Celebrity Cruises over a week ago, but has not receved any suggestions.
I was hoping some fellow cruisers, particularly those in Australia, would have had some experience with this and be able to offer me some advice.

When we did an equivalent cruise on Constellation in 2018. Celebrity sent an email to passengers detailing how to fill in a full visa application. I dont think a full visa is still required, does an evisa still ask this question ? Anyway for the answer to the reference question Celebrity stated to use their port handling agents in Mumbai. At the time this was JM BAXI & CO, MUMBAI PORT. Tel No 22 22104444. This may or may not still be the case. You should look on the Asia Ports of Call Forum and search for visa or india for possible later info. In any event Celebrity should be able to tell you their current port handling agent and that will do as a reference.
We visited India (four ports on the SW) in 2015 and a visa was require. The internet visa process was not available for cruise passengers.
We have been to China twice and Russia, which had somewhat lengthy and difficult visa processes, but the Indian visa was the WORST. I tried submitting our applications direct, but it was rejected. Finally, I used a visa application company for the process. They told me that the question (where are you staying in India?) was the problem. I was putting the name of the cruise ship, since we were not in a hotel. I was told to put in the name of a hotel in Mumbai instead.
They said that if I didn't do that, I would not get the visa. I did that and got the visa. Apparently, bureaucracy rules in the Indian government.
I used the British Consulate address. My Visa was processed within 48 hours
Australian Consulate General
Plot C 38-39, Bandra Kurla Complex, Opp MCA Cricket Club, Level 10, A Wing, Crescenzo Building, G Block, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400051, India
It was an e-Visa
We did the same cruise earlier this year. We are from the UK not Australia. I found the evisa fairly stressful to complete, “countries visited in last 10 years” was particularly long and I had to leave some out. Anyway, I looked up the port agent’s name and address for the first port of call - Cochin I think, and put that. My evisa was approved and so it worked.
We used the used the Mumbai port agent info in 2018. We needed a full visa as we were leaving the ship for 2 nights to visit the Taj Mahal. Visa was the worst we have ever had to go through. it would not accept our home address as a return address for the visa 🙄
We visited the same ports on our Connie cruise last year. The evisa was a PITA to complete, but we just used the port agents name and address. We received the visa in about 48 hours.
A big thank you to all of you fellow cruisers who took the time to reply to my request, with regard to "Reference" information needed to complete the online Indian Visa application.
As suggested, I rang Celebrity Cruises and they gave me the details of their Port agent in Cochin, which is the first port of call in India on this cruise.
It worked like a charm and the application was accepted.
As a matter of interest for any future cruisers, the details are:
Celebrity Cruises,
Willington Island,
Cochin, Kerala
Phone: 1 888 8597692
Thanks again, this just goes to show how helpful Cruise Critic can be in circumstances such as mine.

You mentioned that you did the equivalent cruise last year and was wondering if you would mind lending me the wisdom of your experience in relation to a couple of matters:
1. Like many I have found Ship excursions to be expensive and so apart from arranging local tours online, are there reputable local tour operators onshore that you can arrange upon arrival, the same as there are in so many other countries?
2. Rather than obtain local Indian Currency before we leave Australia at a dreadful exchange rate, do you know if there are currence exchange ATMs at the ports like there are in other countries, where you can use your card to obtain the amount of local currency you want at the time?
3. We are visiting Cochin, Goa and the Mumbai overnight. Did you do any particular tours that you would recommend?
4. Did you visit Colombo, Sri Lanka and so could I ask the same questions in relation to there?
Would very much appreciate any info you can give me.

We are visiting Cochin, Goa and the Mumbai overnight. Did you do any particular tours that you would recommend? 4. Did you visit Colombo, Sri Lanka and so could I ask the same questions in relation to there? Would very much appreciate any info you can give me.
So, a number of points then.
Money, you are not allowed to take Indian currency into or out of the country, I believe that’s still the case. At both Mumbai and Goa there were port-approved moneychangers at small desks inside the port and the exchange rates were reasonable, we changed a small amount in Mumbai and back again in Goa. We didn’t visit Cochin Colombo or Sri Lanka.
We normally like to do our own thing with a bit of research beforehand using public transport where possible. Depending on how fit you are Mumbai is fairly easy to get around. We spent the first day in Mumbai wandering around on our own, we walked to Churchgate station from the port (about 20 mins) bought two 1st Class (you get a seat maybe) all day rail tickets for less than £5 and travelled to a few stops to experience the infamous rail system and some famous stops, after the rush hour of course. Then spent the whole day walking around the sights to The Gate of India near the famous Taj Mahal Palace hotel, back to the Victorian CST station then back to the port for a well-earned drink. On the second day we took the ships tour to the Elephanta Caves which are a must see if you have two days in Mumbai, a really good experience in my view. Look for Green Gate Alexandra dock on Google as that’s likely where you'll dock.
In Goa we took another ships tour to the old capital Panjim (Panaji), which was also really good but make sure the guide spends plenty of time in the old town as ours thought everyone wanted to shop, we didn’t. Two Indian waiters on our previous cruise told us what to do as they were both from Goa. Ship docks near the MSC Melody (MS Qing) in Mormugao Vasco port so a ships tour is a good idea.
Your Roll Call on these boards or the Asia ports of call forum will have more helpful info. If you walk out of the port gates there are very many taxi drivers offering tours but I can’t recommend any I'm afraid.
If the Bollywood dance company come aboard to perform in the theatre, they’re brilliant.
When we applied for our Australian Visa 2 years ago, we were told to just put in any Hotel Name -
In the guide we got they said used -
Hilton Hotel
22 South Street
Delhi, India
Phone111111111111
I did as instructed and received my Visa without even a blink of the eye. I think it is just one of those things you have to fill in something.

We did a great tour in Mumbai with Mumbai Magic Tours. For Cochin, Goa and the other port we had great tours with Cochin Day Tours-Muziris Heritage.
Lijo Jose was my point of contact and may have been the owner of the company. We met Lijo while on this tour. Our tour was the Cochin Backwater Tour that included a peaceful two hour ride on a houseboat. We had a nice Indian lunch on the houseboat. We cruised the waters of Alapuzha, and then drove back to Ft. Cochin. Back in Cochin, we had an opportunity to shop and visit the Paradesi Synagogue. It is the oldest active synagogue in the British Commonwealth of Nations. It was constructed in 1567. The tour was seven hours and cost $75 per person. http://www.daytoursincochin.com/cochin-backwater-tour/

It's the same when you apply for an ESTA to enter the US. You need to enter the address you are staying the first night. The ESTA is then valid for multiple entries for two years. - How much would an Uber be from JFK to the Embassy Suites on 17th SE St?
I'm not sure there's an Embassy Suite in NY on 17th ST - there is one on 37th. Cost is approx $75 from JFK but you could see higher rates during surge pricing periods.
You can easily get a quote by using either Uber or Lyft apps and manually input Origin and Destination.
Jim - either you've missed my joke, or I've missed yours. When you apply for the ESTA you need to add a first night address - which may or may not be the actual planned address. In my example I referred to the Embassy Suites in FLL, since that is a common hotel that people ask about on here. Next time you enter the US on the same ESTA, you may enter in JFK or LAX or anywhere else - but the ESTA still says that you'll be staying at the Embassy Suites in FLL.
Maybe I should have added a 😉 ?
An ESTA is a walk in the park compared to an Indian Visa.
